India Today  did a great job of exposing ‘The love Jihad’ and ‘Nikah Halala’ systems. After seeing all the things; I wondered what took it so long for this inhumane and insidious practices to come up to the mainstream media and what was more shocking was the defying silence of Indian ‘Liberal’ women who masquerade as the flag bearers of feminism and gender equality and who generally discard ‘Hinduism’ to be defiantly regressive to women and are at forefront to criticize and denounce each and every aspect of the religion; under the umbrella of womanism. But then I understood that the practices of ‘Triple Talaq’, ‘Nikah Halala’, ‘Love Jihad’ are in Islam.

Ah! Indian liberando are bound to keep mum.  Petty liberal logic of shielding the ill aspects of ‘Peaceful’ religion to sound anti-communal. What is more surprising is that the Indian feminists who gang up to protest against dowry; Karwa Chauth etc are defiantly silent on ‘Halala Marriage’ which is not only violation of women’s rights but also a curb on basic Human Rights. Doesn’t the condition of a helpless woman; forced to have sex with a stranger to be back to her estranged husband; bleed the hearts of this so called feminists? Doesn’t the woman with her small children; who is thrown out of her house upon giving Talaq in a sitting; without alimony and having nothing to do appeal these ‘feminists’?

Moreover, the women who are forced to wear a burqa; in a hot country like India; doesn’t their condition shake the conscience of this ‘liberal’ women? I have never seen women who proudly declare themselves as ‘Feminists’ like Shabana Azmi; Rana Ayyub; Sagarika Ghose; Nidhi Razdan; Shehla Rashid; Pankhuri Pathak;  Barkha Dutt protest against this brutally regressive and medieval practices. Are all the #Notinmyname protests entitled to denounce Hinduism and Brahminism? Doesn’t the plight of this women qualify to your so called ‘promoting equality’ marches and protests?
