A letter from myself in 2030

0

Hey Prakarati,

It’s 2030, find a way to acknowledge the last 10 years the good, the bad, and the ugly. You don’t believe it right, I recommend pinching yourself because of its reality. The time has passed but the world has shifted for good it has turned a new leaf. During the time of uncertainty, what the world realized was to have a good look at the foundation of our social-political system, healthcare, education, trade, migrant and refugee issues, etc. A virus taught us about the challenge that nature gives us, has to be respected to overcome, we need to adjust ourselves. Spoiler alert there is no flying cars yet, though Elon Musk drives one.

The future is very unpredictable, your present defines it. The point from where I am writing today will be different from what was yesterday or will be tomorrow. The ideal world for me would be the eradication of poverty, a better healthcare system with a better-needed ratio of population to doctors and hospital beds, overcoming the burden of gender disparity, and the issue of terrorism. Will it not be great where society does not judge you by race and nationality? Yes, it sounds good, but to reach there it will have to take a journey longer than 10 years. But don’t be sad that nothing has changed as it does not happen in a day it happens with time.

You will be glad to know things have been changing.

– Moving towards better science focused on finding success in treating Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, we are taking mental health issues as vital as physical health.

-conflict no longer is with State or terror act committed by the non-state actors, which sadly say, has reduced the number of causalities but has increased the victims of cyber warfare. But the future takes into account not only to find a way to eradicate the roots for non-state actors but find the solution to protect the youth by focusing on education, promoting businesses, etc.

–           Elderly care- “Co-housing”, a small group of seniors can live in an independent home together, share meals and housekeeping duties, and perhaps have a younger house manager on hand for assistance, where needed.

–           Major change the world has seen is, imbibe the ways of sustainable living. Few examples

• Lots of metros, electric cars, and shared mobility

•No longer expensive to build a green building than it is to build a conventional building.

We are already investing in electric cars, micro-irrigation, green buildings, waste-to-energy technologies, renewable energy, and alternatives that you and I will need if we want to live a low-carbon lifestyle. Moving towards alternatives suggests a shift in the perception of “native” actions or products in favor of better ones.

As you might be thinking very curiously for me to write about you in the future. So you have made a lot of lifestyle changes from a night owl to a member of the 5 AM club and you will be glad to know meditation has now become a part of your life. I know you are trying to make a career shift from Psychology to Diplomacy which has been a hard road for you. But our hardships define us. Just trust in the process of preparation to holding onto your goal and going after it.

Your role is vital, working across borders not only to fight for the rights of your own people but humanity at large. The fight for equitable society and human rights for people in war-torn countries and working for women and children is your agenda. Your choice of the cause comes from personal experiences around, where the strong limits the weak and feels alright to take away the dream of the future and leave the person slowly dying.

The changes are a long walk and 2030 is an era of a new beginning and change of world order to a better future. In the end, I would quote Dumbeldore “to fight and fight again, and keep fighting, for only then could evil be kept at bay, though never quite eradicated”

Best wishes

2020 Presidential Election: A doomsday for democracy in America

0

The election of the President every four years has a monumental history since 1789 when George Washington was elected. When people go to the polls, as we did on November 3, it appears that the President is elected by direct popular vote but that is not true. The United States uses the Electoral College (EC) system, first used in 1789, as established by the U.S. Constitution. The EC gives all American citizens, over the age of 18, the right to vote for electors, who in turn vote to elect the President and Vice President. Indian readers must note that there is neither EC in India nor we elect the Prime Minister through a nationwide popular vote. On the other hand, electing India’s President has similarities to the EC system in which only the elected representatives vote.

It is my opinion that no matter who finally gets declared “elected” after the counting and anticipated legal challenges are settled, the longstanding U.S. democracy is threatened with a doomsday scenario. President Trump has threatened for months not to recognize the election results if he does not win. It is certainly a good possibility that he may not have the needed 270 ECs because the vote-counting continues. With the continuing uncertain state of elections in the U.S., India and Indians must remain vigilant and ready for the unexpected outcome because the vote count is trending in favor of Biden being elected.

Last night, in the vee hours of November 4, the sitting President Trump falsely declared “victory” while millions of ballots were yet to be counted; threatened to go to the Supreme Court to have “all voting to stop,” This country has never seen a sitting President making such statement in the middle of a legitimate election process which has the potential for a standstill and constitutional crisis. There are certainly precedence and people being used to knowing the elected President on the night of election day but no such constitutional and/or legal mandate.

By most accounts, the 2020 election held in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic is as unprecedented, uncertain, and challenging as the pandemic itself. The historians will reflect and perhaps cite it as the most contentious, chaotic, and controversial in recent times. They may characterize it being full of scorching negative campaign, extremely close contest between the two rivals (Trump and Biden), and the largest ever advance balloting ( over 100 million) before the election day.

This election is getting too close to “call” even for the media and the political pundits who breathe, follow, and analyze the numbers very intimately. For example, the numbers of ECs have hardly moved much in the last 12 hours at the time of writing this. I have seen the U.S. elections for over 40 years and voted in the last 6 but never saw a stalemate of this magnitude. I was dumbfounded that the businesses in many big cities were “boarding up” their stores fearing street fight, vandalism, and unrest. We have heard and seen such chaos in the developing/underdeveloped countries which may now be the new “normal” in the U.S. Fortunately, we have had no such incidences yet but the potential exists once the election results are finally announced.

Undoubtedly, there will be the U.S. President In the end but at what cost? There are far too many questions than answers. Can the country live with unprecedented damage to democracy and divisiveness among people based on their gender, color, origin, political ideologies, etc? Can we anticipate that the people’s will in future elections, the core of our democracy, will be upheld and respected? Can we trust the current President, in the interim if he is not reelected, to manage the public health crisis due to the rising number of coronavirus infections/deaths with his abysmal record in the past? Will there be another stimulus to help the struggling city and state governments, schools, businesses, and individuals because of the prolonged coronavirus? Can the stock market maintain semblance in the continuing environment of uncertainty?  Will the legal system including the Supreme Court deliver an unbiased opinion considering that President Trump appointed three justices creating a huge imbalance between the liberal and conservative thinking justices?

The longstanding U.S. democracy has stood the test of time but 2020 may be the beginning of the end of the “democracy” we have known, cherished, and enjoyed. The doomsday scenario also has another side to it. These include but not limited to the rising tension not only between the Whites and Blacks but the Whites and the rest; the widening gap between the haves and have nots from the socio-economic perspective, the emergence or reemergence of movements such as Antifa, Black Lives Matter, White Supremacy, increasing domestic and global terrorism, and an accelerating uncertainty about immigration laws leaving millions of immigrants in limbo. The dysfunctional party politics in Washington appears to drift away from the public policy for the sole benefit of the people at large

Let us end with optimism and hope that our deep-rooted sense of democracy will pull us out of the current chaos, the state of despair, and the doomsday scenario. The next President must embrace “We the People” and rebuild America as it has been and must remain, a shining example of democracy, decency, liberty, mutual respect, and humility. Let us also hope that the U.S.-India will continue to thrive between the world’s oldest and largest democracies, a necessity for the geopolitical balance in the wake of expansionist China.

The many arguments of anti-Modi intellectuals

0

Prime Minister Modi has often been criticised by media and general public on many fronts. A close look at Modi’s performance will definitely refute these negative criticisms. Let’s have a look at it and the many negative criticisms in that context:

Modi was accused of genocide of Muslims in Gujarat. First, he was accused of masterminding it. Then he was accused of asking police to look the other way.  However, none of these accusations have been ever proved or even substantiated. As Gujarat CM, Modi was denied a US Visa under a provision of the Immigration and Nationality Act. The ban was automatically lifted when he became Prime Minister and since has received a rock star welcome there.

Volumes have been written on the two drastic reform measures undertaken by Modi namely the Demonetization and the GST. While no conclusion has been reached, these reforms have definitely set an honest norm in transaction financing and a much more efficient system of tax administration leading to added revenue.

Our country is certainly passing through a grave crisis due to Coronavirus. Our intellectuals do not seem to be aware of any solution nor capable of giving any constructive suggestions. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment and solidarity in fighting against the coronavirus pandemic that has so far infected millions of people in the world have been praised by World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. Yet Modi is accused of mishandling the issue.

The Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 was passed by the Parliament of India on 11 December 2019. It amended the Citizenship Act, 1955 by providing a path to Indian citizenship for migrants of HinduSikhBuddhistJainParsi, and Christian religious minorities, who had fled persecution from PakistanBangladesh and Afghanistan before December 2014. An irresponsible Opposition aided by the same section of media tried to raise communal passion on this just measure to redeem past commitments.

Continuing the reform agenda, the Modi government has now passed in parliament three bills to promote much easier trade for the farm produce and to provide a competitive market for the producers outside the existing APMC system. These provide: No more APMC monopoly, more choice, freedom for farmers to seek better prices for crops.

The two acts are very beneficial for the persecuted minorities and the small and medium farmers respectively. Yet the opposition and a section of media are agitating against their implementation.

The country is facing unprovoked and pre meditated aggressive postures of China and Pakistan. But these critics are deafeningly silent. They are even savouring the lies and blatantly seditious uttering of some opposition leaders like Farooq Abdullah abundantly highlighted by a section of mainstream media.

Atrocities against women, communal clashes, misdemeanours in public conduct and misappropriation of public funds are occurring in certain parts of our polity. But these critics are blatantly selective in their reaction.

Modi is often accused of spoiling the independence of the constitutionally set up institutions by interfering into their affairs. This allegation again could not be substantiated.

There were a lot of protests against holding this year’s NEET and Final Year Degree exams. But the Ministry and UGC were firm and the exams were mostly conducted properly.

Thus, in these criticisms, there is this blatant intellectual dishonesty of a lot otherwise learned and educated people. They also seem to be oblivious of the fundamental adage: Charity Begins at Home/ Preach only what you Practice. Also, criticism must not be agenda driven but surely constructive. Sadly, this is totally lacking here.

But what about dissent and democracy? Angry activists and public intellectuals have multiple eager media platforms like The Wire, NDTV, The Hindu etc to vent their ire and eulogizing Pakistan-funded terrorists like Burhan Wani, being apologists for China and undermining India at international conclaves. Yet, none of these media organizations has been censored by the government – even though many deal in fake news. Contrast this with what is happening in Maharashtra.

Finally, the biased and partisan attitude of these critics are further evident from the following ridiculous allegations:

  • Modi wore a shawl. Somebody dreamed up that it was a Louis Vuitton one – a manufactured controversy was served steaming hot!
  • Rs 20 lakh suit: Another cooked up figure over the price of suit Modi was wearing.
  • Christian church attacks: Delhi Police announced that 250+ temples were attacked and 4 churches. Then a church was attacked in Mamata Banerjee’s West Bengal. This was enough for Christianity to be under attack in Modi’s India.
  • Award Wapsi: Again, law and order broke down in Akhilesh Yadav’s Uttar Pradesh and Dadri was the low point. But Modi was invoked and a bizarre ceremony of returning awards plagued our so called “intellectuals” and writers.

American history- elections- effects

0

The U.S. elections 2020, as surmised by everybody, exposes a deep division in the American society. In fact, the U.S. is a conglomeration of many ethnic groups living together, by collectively building the nation ‘great’. They would all take pride for being Americans. That country was once called ‘a melting pot’’. Now, it does not seem to be the case. The first entrants into America’s eastern states from the Great Britain, famously called as ‘The Pilgrim Fathers,’ had settled there and drove away the native Americans. The natives (Red-Indians named as such by Christopher Columbus, who wanted to sail to India and wrongly been to America) were subjected to untold suffering and torment, is an open-secret (of course, America had a late realisation and guilt). The British later, conveniently made that part of America their colony.

The French and Spanish people who inhabited in certain states, were also made the British subjects, by defeating France and Spain (in battles that followed: by the British Crown). The British without investing anything on Americans, expected them to pay taxes to the British government. The only reason they cited was that they were providing military support to America in protecting their country from external enemies i.e. the likes of France and the Spain.

Then Americans asked a vital question: without having a voting right to elect the British government, without having a representation in the British parliament, why should they pay taxes? The British government mulled over and thought it to be correct. Later they had differences over other issues also. In due course, Americans revolted against their British rulers violently under leadership of George Washington. However, the British restrained from fighting and killing their own people, who went to settle elsewhere. They granted them independence on 4 July 1776.

That being the history, the question is, the lakhs of Indians (and also migrants of other countries) that went for greener pastures in that country, holding H1-B visas are not given either green card or citizenship for decades, yet America has got guts to question Indian Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) that hastens citizenship to minorities from the neighbouring country.  America’s year-wise quota of citizenship is tardy and as outdated as its voting system. Though the world is going at a fast pace, their electoral process and results are so slow and centuries old. Indians who work in the U.S. pay heavy taxes, yet they do not have voting rights! That (to have voting rights, when you pay taxes) was the very premise on which they argued and fought with the British colonial rulers to get their Independence. Now, they deprive immigrants that pay taxes to have a say. So, America is not a just country to tell morals to other countries on how they should behave in their immigration policy.

Initially, America was limited to 13 states in the East Coast. Then they made wars with Mexico and annexed Texas and other smaller states, later in West coast: California and expanded to 50-states i.e. United States of America (USA). So, the United States is an expansionist state. After welcoming people from other nations with open arms, as their nation is big and uninhabited, took the hard labour and contributions of immigrants to develop, now, saying this is the nation of only the ethnic White people who have arrived from Britain, is illogical and immoral. The Trump era promoted this identity- propaganda. The Grand Old Republican Party from the beginning stands for ethnicity and religion (Judeo-Christianity). Nothing wrong as they were the first comers/occupants to a new continent and developed it. However, the Republican Party for ages never demeaned immigrants, as Trump and his followers did. For, a country that says it stands for Human Rights should not be doing this.

India was or is, not an expansionist nation. Never, an aggressor. In fact, our nation contracted, by ceding place to Pakistan and Bangladesh. Many people in India have been apprehensive of Biden-Kamala duo and their earlier unnecessary statements on Kashmir and Human Rights, without knowing the history or geography of India. With no clue on how India was divided, they should not be making statements on Kashmir or CAA. India should cite, to those that question (on India’s policies), what Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji (ex-PM of India), once said. When someone from Pakistan had said: ‘Pakistan is incomplete without Kashmir’, Vajpayee ji replied: ‘India is incomplete without Pakistan’. India being the loser in the game, none should point a finger.

Democrats, as expected, have not had a blue wave throughout the country. The surge, they thought would happen, has not happened. Had it been the case, the Democrats would have become captive in the hands of the Left-liberals. Still there is a majority Republican Senate to check-mate the Democrat-cahoots, the Left-liberals. The popular vote of Democrats and Republicans is more or less equal. So, the Democrats have to live with the passionate opposition, the Republicans in the Senate. These are the checks and balances of a democracy.

Since, Joe Biden has had twice his innings as the vice-president of the U.S.; hope he would ensure to bring in some semblance to the world order, which his predecessor has disrupted with his impulsive tweets and erratic remarks. The world needs a peaceful, polite and civil order of life. Right now, Joe Biden is poised to become the president of the U.S. Donald Trumps legal recourse may not hold water, as per the U.S. legal luminaries’ opinion. As far as India is concerned, the U.S. foreign policy is bipartisan. India on its part has to be Atmanirbhar to face any foreign power including China. India should take her own soul-strength and the demographic advantage to its stride and progress.

To avoid poaching, Joe Biden takes his electors by bus to Hilton hotel

0

Washington DC: A parade of buses was seen waiting outside the Hilton hotel in the capital, as the final counting for the 2020 US Presidential election is in progress.

Amidst the traffic created by media vans and a huge crowd of reporters, our reporter got hold of a Democratic Party official, who said on conditions of anonymity, “There have been serious allegations of Donald Trump trying to poach some of our electors. Some of our electors seems to have received a lot of calls from the Trump office since today morning. They were scared and didn’t attend those calls. “

“Biden sensed that the things are going wrong and Trump might pay these electors handsomely. So, he decided to pack off all his possible electors to this hotel. We have formed our own militia and have secured the perimeter of this hotel. No White man, except Biden, can enter or leave this hotel. The Trump team can trade horses, but we are donkeys. We cannot be traded.”, said a gun-toting militia man. “We are ready to scare away the Red caps!”, said the militia man.

Social media accounts of the electors show them playing basketball and baseball in the rooftop ground. Few of them were playing Poker while few were enjoying Beers near the pool.

Meanwhile, people working in the Trump camp have revealed that they are already in touch with 60 electors and they are confident that they will vote for Trump during the December voting, making Donald Trump the president again.

Are you ready to get muddy to fight with pigs?

0

for the cold and wet aftermath of the civilisational war that is happening? To win?

Then take a pause, as it is of utmost importance. It refuels both soul and mind to re-asses the situation, to see how things are going, to weigh your approach and how to mend the ongoing situation. Britishers never won themselves any territory in one strike. How did one nationalistic party changed their tune in one strike? What made them compromise their morals or are we Hindus meant to be like this? Is this what we inherently are, an infighting religion which will never fully regroup? Everything will have to be re-assessed. If history has taught us anything, it is to always look at the mistakes committed in past and so we must look carefully into the past in order to build a happy future for ourselves and our next generations. Sometimes studying the opposition makes us aware of our own mistakes.

There are two things which we should admire when we look at the Congress Party. They are unapologetic and they actually care and listen to their vote bank. It is important for a political party’s supporter to know that your vote works the way you want it to. This is important because the so called right wing voted a certain party to solve problems which are close to their heart but fulfillment of those still look distant. Meanwhile, the Left and “secular” who are now languishing at the end of the voters totem pole are still fighting for their supporters with tooth and nail marching along with their marginally influential and very vocal media houses.

The glaring obvious mistake with the so called Right wing media is that they acknowledge too many unnecessary things and do not know or fail to understand the need to shut up. The question arises, why do Right wing media have not yet performed to their potential? Because they fight on the turf of left wing media. The left media knows the pitch very well because it is theirs, prepared and nurtured by them. They know every twist and turn. You are playing by the rules set up by them and you give legitimacy to those rules by acknowledging it. There is no right or wrong when the goal is to end the other. Are you clear about the goal or do you want to co-exist? Because the other side are cannibals.

To fight a pig one has to get dirty. The perception of right and wrong which the so called Right Wing media and general populace adhere to and justify themselves accordingly is fundamentally wrong. You have been given only the power to justify yourselves on the merits which your opposition have defined as right and wrong. So you simply have to stop playing by not acknowledging their rules. Instead of counter attacking and proving them wrong, speak only about what you think is right. Let them attack your views. Those few jokers which were ousted from their media houses would have languished in uncertainty if you would have stopped attacking them. Those tweets and youtube videos that you retweet and comment on in order to humiliate and prove them wrong only widens their reach of bigotry and radicalism. You give them views and voice by merely acknowledging their existence. Stop it.

Now you have been two very powerful ammunition by Congress, served on royal platter. How you use it, is important. Do you have the mettle and skill to use it? You now have been provided with limitless supply of truth, righteousness and mirror polish. Use it liberally and use it everywhere to shut them up. You need not justify anything anymore (if you are still trying to play by their definition of right and wrong). One party’s ego, supplemented by a maverick chair holder have let them unleash something wretched unto the Indian media which was supposed to have ended 43 years ago.

Now if anything happens to non-aligned media houses, their honchos or any related individual, you do not carry any guilt and burden nor have to justify any action or feel ashamed. The best thing will be to not even acknowledge it, not write about it, not tweet about it, good plain ol’ absolute silence but if you have an itch to scratch simply utter the words, what about Arnab Goswami and Sameet Thakkar and let them justify the past actions. You do not have to say anything anymore than that. It will be understood.

Hijacking democracy- Since independence

0

One political family holds the dubious record of hijacking democracy time and again. This family’s lust of power has costed India a great deal. The members of this family boasts of being most democratic and created a huge hue and cry in recent times that democracy is being compromised but in reality their personal interests were being compromised. Instead it itself has a history of hijacking and demolishing democracy since its inception in Indian political system.

Time and again they have used shrewd tactics for grabbing power, misusing power and retaining power. Now looking at the history one would realise they are political mafia which in course of retaining power done greater damage to the state. To begin with, first they hijacked the congress by using Mahtama and ousting leaders like Bose. Then they hijacked the freedom movement in their name by demeaning the great independence fighters like Bhagat singh and many as terrorists, Bose as war criminals and conspired to defunct leaders like Veer Savarkar. Then they hijacked the country’s govt by forcing Sardar Patel to step down for post of prime minister ship in 1946 for the first interim Govt of Independent India though 11 votes were in favour of Sardar Patel against one in favour of its counterpart. In 1947 for hunger of Prime Minister ship this family chose to divide India. Had there been no tussle between Jinnah and Nehru, India would not have divided.

Continuing this legacy of political bullying and hijacking democracy their successors were no less. Emergency was imposed in the country for ruthlessly crushing the opposition. The constitution was modified time and again by superseding the parliament for meeting political goals. The insertion of word secularism, Reservation amendment act are the few examples among many.

So and so the biggest political party has been hijacked by this family since independence. And now their true face has been unmasked again in Maharashtra. They have shown to country that how they have remained in power and ruled India. Had it been not india this family would have run dictatorship which they are doing now in Maharashtra. Its only that now days we have social media, God knows how many Arnabs they must have crushed over the years which never surfaced in public domain.

The recent events in Maharasthra has shown the real face of this family and the values their party holds. Now one can imagine how this family/party would have conspired to implicate the then CM of Maharashtra Mr Narendra Modi in Ishrat jahan case just to crush him because he was an imminent threat to their political supremacy. One can now easily understand the whole chronology of events leading to the conspiracy to implicate Sadhvi Pragya and Col purhit in Malegaon train blast just to run vicious campaign to malign RSS and ideology of Hindutva in the name of Bhagwa terror. At that time also the ruling party NCP. One can imagine how much brutality would have been meted out to Sadhvi Pragya and Col Purohit while imprisonment by their spine less pet. This all now also forces one to think why 26/11 was able to happen in Maharashtra. Was their some connivance at that time also.

Arnab Goswami has done great benefit to the country by exposing the political mafia face of this family and party its allies and much greater benefit to Maharashtra by exposing real character of Shiv Sena.

Now its time that the Court should intervene to prevail justice other wise people will loose faith on law and order system of the country.

And one afterthought about the blatant use of power by Maha police in Arnab case how high handed Maharashtra police would be to common public. It must be a night mare for the common public living in Maharashtra to go to a police station for seeking justice.

To save Odisha from radicalized, Islamic extremism and associated terror acts like ongoing Love Jihad is to stop Bengali masson the only solution to strikeout Bangladeshi and Rohingyas and their sympathisers from Odisha otherwise we will pay a heavy amount in future. So to avoid this, state Govt should bring strong law against it.
