Claimed harmony vis a vis way to “Gazwa-ae-Hind”: Mathura incident against law of land

0

Recently an incident took place in Mathura wherein few Islamic followers offered “Namaaz” inside the temple premises without the permission of priest therein. They claimed it to be the act of harmony and peace but the act is very serious and has direct impact on the integrity of India. When it comes to legality of the issue there is serious offence that should be made out in this particular case against the accused. Minute study of Section 295A of Indian Penal Code clearly states that any act with the insult or attempt to insult the religion or religious beliefs of any class of citizens of India done deliberately is an offence under this section. Now if we look into the incident as well as the FIR details show that accused have fraudulently entered into the temple and then after that offered “namaz”.

Thereafter they shared the pictures of the same over social media. This shows there malafide intent as sharing such pictures would result into disharmony in the society.

The act should be looked upon in broader perspective and with respect to “Gazwa E Hind” i.e. the movement against the idol worshipping and focuses on establishing Islam all over the world. One could easily relate the act and the idea of “Gazwa E Hind”. The act has to be looked upon and investigated seriously to make sure that Islamic extremists shouldn’t achieve what they exactly want. India is a secular state so there should not be any space for “Gazwa E Hind”. The acts of the accused in this incident were deliberate act to defile the place of worship so offence under Section 295 of Indian Penal Code.

In 2013 hon’ble apex courted headed by bench of Justices Dipak Misra, A M Khanwilkar and M M Shantanagoudar clearly stated that “it is clear as crystal that Section 295A does not stipulate everything to be penalized and any and every act would tantamount to insult or attempt to insult the religion or the religious beliefs of class of citizens. It penalizes only those acts of insults or those varieties of attempts to insult the religion or religious belief of a class of citizens which are perpetrated with the deliberate and malicious intention of outraging the religious feelings of that class of citizens”. The incident that took place in Mathura satisfies the ingredients offence and hence the strict action should be taken against the accused.

Is Pakistan on the cusp of a revolution?

0

The open revolt of the top brass of the Sindh police accentuated by the massive opposition protests against the army & Imran Khan’s government points to a new societal and institutional upheaval in Pakistan.

It has almost been seventy years since Pakistan ‘land of the pure’ was carved out of India with the ostensible aim of becoming a homeland for Muslims but the creation has ignored the inclusive multicultural and multiracial nature of the cosmopolitan society of the subcontinent which has wider ramifications for the Pakistani polity and its unity. The army of Pakistan whose objective was to protect the ‘dar al Islam’ region from all threats both external and internal have ultimately resulted in this institution calling the shots for majority of Pakistan’s ‘democratic’ existence, but recent events point to a real ‘naya’ Pakistan in the making, a revolution appears certain.

Democracy at last?

The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is leading from the front, a coalition of eleven of Pakistan’s leading parties headed by firebrand cleric Maulana Fazlur Rahman is proving to be a nightmare for the incumbent Pakistan premier and the all powerful army chief, although the army has called on the movement to desist from bringing the name of the army in politics and has defended the army’s role of ‘upholding the constitution’, the opposition is taking none of it and for the first time in Pakistan’s nascent democratic history has showed the ability to speak out against the military establishment which is most evident in former Pakistan premier Nawaz Sharif calling on the army to stay out of politics and respect the constitution.

The movement has taken out massive rallies across the country with the aim of bringing down the Imran Khan government as well as to ensure that the army performs its role of the defender of the country and not meddle in constitutional and political issues. What has compounded Khan’s difficulties is the supportive leadership provided by PMLN vice president Maryam Nawaz and Pakistan’s People’s party(PPP) president Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in questioning the government’s track record on development and its incompetent handling of the coronavirus pandemic which has wrecked Pakistan’s already beleaguered economy. Is the country finally going to experience genuine democracy? only time can say.

Fears of a larger unrest

Pakistan’s fragile unity is on the verge of collapsing, the recent incident where the Sindh IG was abducted by Pakistani army rangers and forced to issue arrest warrants against Maryam Nawaz and her husband Captain (retired) Safdar Awan has galvanized the opposition ranks which appeared to have shaken earlier. The Sindh police have openly revolted against the Pakistani army, multiple ‘forced holiday’ of senior officers of the Sindh police has rattled the Imran Khan government which has swung in damage control mode.

If the situation persists then there is a fear that other provinces may soon rise in rebellion against Punjab and Rawalpindi putting the very social and economic fabric of Pakistan under a mortal threat, a larger unrest can not only jeopardize Pakistan’s fight against the coronavirus but also undermine the fight against terrorism albeit its own creation. The likelihood of more rebellions against the central government and army threatens to tear asunder the fragile religious and societal fabric of Pakistan which can also open old religious and sectarian fault lines thereby allowing the jihadist groups to have a free run in the country.

Reasons behind the unrest

Delving deeper into the causes and reasons behind the unrest in Pakistan points to a history of discrimination, inter provincial rivalry and mindless exploitation of natural resources. Punjab which is Pakistan’s biggest and politically sensitive province has controlled the narrative & has called the shots when it came to economy, civil services and military etc. Punjab has been responsible for controlling the lion’s share of resources and political importance. Tilak Devasher, former bureaucrat and a Pakistan expert has in his seminal book “Pakistan-Courting the Abyss” has highlighted that more than 2/3rd of the army recruits come from Punjab.

Devasher further went on to highlight that both Rawalpindi and Punjab call the shots when it comes to determining the budget for the different provinces, Punjab and Rawalpindi have been also responsible for routine extra judicial killings and abductions of innocent Pashtuns, Balochis with the aim of changing the demography of the ‘recalcitrant’ provinces such as Khyber Panktunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan etc.

China which has invested to $60 billion in the CPEC project is also hand in gloves with the Pakistani regime in exploiting and devouring the resources of Balochistan, Sindh etc which is fuelling discontent among the people of these provinces. The Baloch Liberation Front (BLF), an insurgent group designated as a terrorist group in both Pakistan and US has sought complete independence from Islamabad for Balochistan.

Former Pakistani diplomat and journalist Hussein Haqqani in his book “Pakistan between Mosque and the Military” has highlighted that the sectarian tensions within the Pakistani society is also one of the reasons for this sorry state of affairs for the country, he has went on to note that the Justice Munir committee report (1954) has exposed the highly dangerous and intolerant religious outlook of Pakistani society, the committee noted that the various Islamic sects within Pakistan fought amongst themselves and disagreed with the correct interpretation of Islam.

Headache for China

As if the global opprobrium against China’s role in the Covid-19 pandemic wasn’t enough, the unrest in Pakistan is proving to be a major headache for China, the dragon has significant economic and defence stake in Pakistan, Gwadar port is the heart of the massive China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). China has provided billions of dollars of loans to Pakistan and has been providing Pakistan with unflinching diplomatic and military support to help its iron brother achieve parity with India.

But not all appears fine, China is sitting on a time ticking bomb, Chinese banks have more than $ 940 billion worth of debt, it is suffering from a serious financial crisis, it is clearly evident that China is in deep trouble, countries which are and were a part of the famed Belt and Road Initiative(BRI) have started a thorough scrutiny of the projects which is leading to anti China product boycotts in different countries, further the pandemic has damaged China’s political legitimacy & reputation as  a result of which companies are slowly relocating to other nation states.

The shifting of supply chains especially in the form of a new supply chain alliance of three Quad countries known as the Resilient Supply Chain Initiative (RSCI) and the trade war with US is taking a heavy toll on China’s economy, all these factors combine to make life more difficult for China with large scale implications for its foreign policy & economy. The turmoil within Pakistan can prove to be China’s fait accompli vis-à-vis its overall influence in South Asia providing India the opportunity to become the new superpower.

Conclusion

It now appears that the unrest in Pakistan is not going to end any time soon. Pakistan is a failed state to put it bluntly, if the situation continues to deteriorate then a civil war may appear imminent, the unrest in Pakistan may soon draw world powers resulting in the resurrection of the great game for South Asia, but at a time when the world is busy fighting the menace of a raging pandemic which shows no signs of abetting, it is imperative for the world to take notice and ensure that through dialogue and reconciliation, the situation in Pakistan is brought under control. At the same time the army must listen to what the ‘awam’ of Pakistan is- asking enough is enough it is time that the armed forces stay out of politics otherwise “revolution” in Pakistan against the establishment is going to continue with horrific consequences for the Pakistani citizens.

Freedom of media shut by Maharashtra Government – Uncalled emergency

0

Congress one of the oldest political parties in India who claimed that Congress Leaders laid down their life for Indian Freedom and advocated for Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Expression today demolished all their so cold values. Indian National Congress who claimed themselves so cold secular, liberal, believer of Constitution today ruined all their values. They are in coalition government in Maharashtra with Shiv Sena, National Congress Party. They are attacking one media house Republic News Network and behind Mr. Arnab Goswami who is editor in chief in Republic News Network.

This is because Mr. Goswami has did bold and nationalist reporting in some incidents like Pulwama, Balakot, Palghar, Hathras, Sushant Singh Rajput Case and other National issues. He supported all nationalists views in his reporting. After watching Republic News one can understand how Congress working with their oppositions. Actually after linkage of Congress in Hathras case, Congress lost a big agenda to blame BJP. That’s happened because sting operation done by Republic reportes.

Not only Congress but Maharahstra’s other political parties like Shiv Sena, NCP totally exposed in various cases. Arnab always raised security, law & order condition and COVID 19 situation in Maharahstra. Linkage of Bollywood super stars with drug peddler gang also exposed by Republic Network. This stuff hampered Maharashtra Government’s creditability across India and Presidential Rules demand rising. To save their image, they are reopening such cases which closed as per proper Judicial Process. False allegations made on TRP. Today in media we seen how Maharahstra Police did heinous acts with Arnab and other family members.

We see today how so cold liberals and advocators of free speech, free expression today doing assaulting with one neutral and nationalist reporters and channels. Today its only Republic News but tomorrow everyone come in same scenario if speak against Maharashtra government. It’s time to show solid unitary and condemned this act done by Maharahshtra Government. It’s attack on fourth pillar of Democracy. Why is everyone silent?

Tantra – A path for spiritual aspirants

0

Abuse of Hindu spiritual practices like Tantra Shastra, when non-Hindus commit crimes has become a habit for the Hindu-hating mainstream media trolls like Times of India. Tantra is a Hindu spiritual discipline which has Moksha as the destination, just like Yoga, Vedanta and other paths of knowledge. It has nothing to do with fake Muslim babas who are frauds of the worst category. No Tantra practitioner would ever initiate such low-level criminals into Tantra Shastra. What exactly is Tantra, let’s take a look.

The word Tantra is made up of two syllables, “tanoti” which means extend, and “trayati” which, in the context here, means liberation. Tantra expands the mind and liberates the soul from the trappings of the material world. Tantra envisions the individual representing all dimensions of the universe within him. In Tantric philosophy, the expanding nature and diffusion of the universe is envisioned in a compact form within the individual. The pinnacle of Tantric sadhana is merging of jivatma, with the aid of Shakti (Prakriti) into Shiva (Purusha i.e. ParaBrahma). Thus, the Vedic Mahavakya, “Aham Brahmasmi” applies so wonderfully to this Tantric concept as well. As a Sadhak progresses on to the higher levels of Sadhana, the concepts of Yoga and Tantra become harmonious, and have many similar practices (e.g. Dharana and higher levels). The Samaya Marga of Tantra has similarities with the Vedic approach. Unlike Vedic path, which has a Satvik approach from the beginning, Tantra has room for people with different inborn nature, and through suitable training and practice, brings them on to the spiritual plane. Without going into the details, to give of glimpse of what Tantra covers, just know that the Sri Yantra contains the whole Brahmand within it. Through the practice of Sri Vidya, one of the best upasanas still in existence, one can realize this truth. The wide scientific aspect of Tantra, just like the concepts of Vedanta are mind boggling and modern science through the mode of quantum physics only touches the borders of spiritual might of Sanatan Dharma. The zone beyond that belongs to Rishis, attainable only by Sadhaks, who have full Shraddha in our Srutis and Smritis. The schools of Tantra were established by Brahmajnani Rishis mentioned in our Puranas and Itihasas. This was a very brief look into the true spiritual nature of Tantra.

Tantric rituals, derived from now extant portions of Atharva Vedha also involve modification of energies to achieve material goals (bhukti). These practices including Abhicharam require a level of expertise which is rarely found in this age of degeneration. It can take decades of practice to attain Mantra Siddhi. Most people are simultaneously raised to such spiritual levels by that time, that they don’t use those skills for material gain and instead ignore them as a distraction to Sadhana. So, the so called commercial Tantriks (i.e. the Hindus, not going insult Tantra by calling apostate Muslim babas by that term) selling remedies, are with very rare exceptions, frauds, preying on the minds of weak and vulnerable people seeking shortcut solutions to problems. Their remedies do not work. The remedies depending on many other factors exist, yes, they do, but these frauds don’t possess the skills or knowledge to implement them. Remedies via homams, pujas and other rituals recommended by competent astrologers, and performed by skilled, trained Tantra and Vedic pujaris who dedicate their life to this field, do work, if performed perfectly. But keep in mind, Karma has a way of catching up with you in a different way, if you continue to practice Adharma.

The most important fact is, any individual practicing Tantra has to be a Hindu which includes Buddhists (HH, the Dalai Lama has himself said, Buddhism is not separate from Hinduism). The process of initiation into Tantra involves finding compatibility of the individual with the Devata whose Mantra he is being considered for initiation. Even if a non-Hindu conceals his identity, the process will eliminate him by showing non-compatibility. Basic astrological concepts like Nimittas are also known to people who teach Tantra Shastra, fooling them wont usually work. Even if they get initiated, a person without Sraddha in Sanatan Dharma can never master Tantra Shastra. In the Vivekachudamani of Jagatguru Adi Shankaracharya, “Sraddha” i.e. unshakeable faith, is mentioned as an essential requirement for success in Sadhana (Sadhana Chatusthayam under the ShatakaSampatti section). Same applies to Tantric Sadhana/Upasana as well. A non-Hindu does not have faith in our scriptures or rituals, so they can never succeed in mastering them. The criminal Muslim Babas who offer remedies to ignorant people are frauds who have absolutely nothing to do with Tantra. No real practitioner will ever initiate Abrahamics into Tantra as they are not qualified to learn it (nor is any Hindu without faith in scriptures and God). There never was and never will be a Muslim Tantrik. Period.

Calling such people Tantriks is an insult to Hinduism and such abusers should be prosecuted and imprisoned for deliberate maligning of Sanatan Dharma. The reason why these filthy liars like TOI peddle such lies, is to blame Hindus and divert attention from problems within the Muslim community. Because majority of Hindus preferred to remain ignorant or just didn’t care, such MSM abusers got away in the past. Now, with Social Media, few news portals including Opindia, Swarajya etc and Hindu organizations exposing such lies, TOI and other anti-Hindu MSM cant whitewash crimes by Muslims and other minorities. Muslims claiming to be Tantriks is blasphemy as per Sharia (rituals of pagans are not permitted), but none of the Fatwa issuing Mullahs ever care to go after these frauds. If the likes of radical Islam spreading Deobandis, instead of spreading hatred against “kafirs”, spent their time and effort in cleaning up Islam, they would be helping their own community.

Denial of the truth is not the path of Dharma, so this has to be spoken. Tantric rituals where animal sacrifices are referred to, do exist. But evolved Tantra experts know that meat is just a symbolic representation, it doesn’t refer to the actual killing and offering of an animal. Jagadguru, Adi Shankaracharya reformed these practices in Tantra and you can find the same being followed in most temples in Kerala (which are quite different from rest of the country and still maintain strict Tantric rituals and practices without interruption since thousands of years). I am personally against any killing of animals, because it is cruel and done out of ignorance. But as long as the govt allows poultry farms and selling of meat, its hypocrisy to oppose rituals where the animals are killed in jhatka method without torturing them as in Halal. Whatever is offered as bali, say a chicken, is consumed as food. The animal sacrifices are actually performed (even today some temples follow this) by pujaris who are different from conventional Tantris, mainstream Tantra is now more or less tuned to Jagadguru Shankaracharya’s corrections to such practices.

If someone points out Aghoris and calls their practices an abhorrent side of Hinduism, just let them know, there were no Aghoris in ancient India. What those wretches do is to entertain foreign tourists and have no scriptural sanction. Its got nothing to do with Sanatan Dharma, the term “Aghora” meant something different. Kena Ram’s followers are as fake as the Muslim babas. But that’s another topic altogether and will require a full article to dismiss it.

In conclusion, Tantra is a spiritual discipline which has as much divine sanction as our Srutis and Smritis. Those who disrespect Tantra Shastra will definitely face divine retribution.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing

The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance, 2020 along with the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Ordinance, 2020 were approved by the both houses of the parliament. As soon as the following bills were to be introduced in Rajya Sabha, farmers in the states of Punjab and Haryana started holding protests on a call given by various organizations against the latter. They also burnt the copies of the farm bills to oppose it.

Do those people who are opposing it had read it properly? The answer is no because if they had read it, then they were not wasting their time by protesting and blocking the rail routes. These bills allows the intra-state and inter-state trade of farmers’ produced crops beyond the premises of Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) markets and other markets under the jurisdiction of state APMC Acts. It now permits farmers for trading of their produce in an “outside trade area” like farm gates, factory premises, warehouses, silos, and cold storages.

Earlier, agricultural trade could be conducted only in the Mandis. This act also permits the electronic trading of farmers’ produced crops in the specified trade area. It will facilitate direct and online buying and selling of such produce through electronic devices and internet. It provides for a three level dispute settlement mechanism: the conciliation board, Sub Divisional Magistrate and Appellate Authority. It will also facilitate lucrative prices for the farmers through competitive alternative trading channels to promote barrier-free inter-state and intra-state trade of agriculture goods. The act prohibits state governments from levying any market fee on farmers, traders and electronic trading platforms for trading farmers’ produce in an ‘outside trade area. Then what is wrong in it? Some anti-Social elements and some political parties in order to play petty politics are spreading hoax that minimum support price (MSP) will be stopped. In actuality, MSP can never be stopped.

Questions are also being raised on these farm ordinances that this is the first step towards privatization. Through these farm ordinances, the central government is giving options to the farmers so that they can sell their produced crops where they get the right price. These three Ordinances aim to increase the availability of buyers for farmers’ produced crops, by allowing them to trade freely without any type of stock limit, so that an increase in competition among them results in better rates for farmers. Farmers are being misled by some political parties for their political interests. It is not wrong to protest as India is a democratic country but facts must be known before protest. Under the guise of opposing these ordinances, farmers are being made political pawns. Farmers need to understand this. Ordinances do not repeal the existing APMC laws. These anti-social elements are doing mistake by thinking farmers as fools.

Now just need to make farmers aware of the truth. Political parties must rise above their political interests and prevent farmers from being misled because the farmers are backbone of any developing country, they should not be cheated. These bills will benefit the farmers and will double their income. Before opposing, the facts of that matter must be known properly because a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Indian Muslim and the Ummah!

A massive mob of sloganeering Muslims calling for Death to all who according to them had blasphemed against the Prophet and the Allah threatened to overrun the central Indian city of Bhopal, capital of Madhya Pradesh in the Hindu Nationalist Government of BJP!

What prompted them to come out in lakhs and protest against something which has no bearing on their lives, their rights, their identity, their well-being and their freedoms?

It was Indian Muslim’ response to an address by the President of France, Emmanuel Macron to his people, to the citizens of France about reasserting the founding principles of the French Republic, namely Secularism in its French avatar, laicite while denouncing the gruesome beheading of a French teacher by a Chechen refugee whose only crime was showing his pupils the cartoons published by Charlie-Hebdo, a magazine famous for lampooning religions without favour or fear. The beheading was followed by an attack on Church goers in the French city of Nice by a knife wielding young Muslim man who killed three of his victims in response to the Presidential address, another attack was foiled by the police in Avignon.

Interestingly, none of the events has any direct effect on the Indian Muslim neither does the address by Macron has any bearing on the Indian Muslim then what led to these protests in India is a question which begets answers. And, none of the so called Liberal Muslims, an oxymoron though, had an answer or the seculars or the progressives among them. The protests have been witnessed in major Indian cities all baying for blood!

This is oft recurring theme in India when you find Indian Muslim protesting against something with which he has no connect. Most famously, you can always find them and their Communist friends espousing the cause of Palestine, Chechnya, Iraq but never against the terror attacks against the citizens of India. No one has ever seen a protest against the terror strikes in India by Indian Muslims but definitely a protest against visiting dignitaries, like Bush visit in the aftermath of Afghanistan. No one can recollect any protest against the Mumbai Blasts or 26/11 by Pakistan sponsored and trained terrorists. Not even a symbolic protest against 30 years of killings of innocent citizens in terror attacks. One may hear some Maulanas issuing Fatwas against terror killings but those are perfunctory with no intent of condemnation per se.

Question arises, what makes the Indian Muslim react the way he does?

It is ordained in the Quran!

Islam is a brotherhood, a religion which brooks no geographical boundaries, no national identity no constitutional obligations. The very term “Indian Muslim” is an Oxymoron, for Islam does not recognise any boundaries or any constitution when it comes to governing its flock. The believers follow only what Quran and the Hadith speaks of, it becomes an obligation for every believer to follow the Quran, the Hadith in letter and spirit. It cannot be overlooked or defied by any Believer, rest he becomes an Apostate and liable to killed by any Momin, believer. And, Indian Muslim can’t be any different, India as a nation for him is an artificial entity and he only begrudgingly accepts it as a country only till he is not able to convert it in Darul Islam!

It is the endeavour of every Muslim to believe in the Universal Brotherhood, Ummah, it is manifestation of the fact that all Muslims are one and same, the difference of nationality is temporary only to be overthrown once the aim of Islamisation of the unbelievers is complete. It is the overriding teaching being drilled into the Indian Muslim even after India accommodated Muslims as its own after the bloody Partition which divided India into two Nations based on assertions by Muslims that Two Nations of Hindus and Muslims cannot live together. It is acknowledged by scholars that Muslim leaders of pre independent India always supported the Cause of Islam if it ever came into conflict with Independent India headed by Hindu Majority. The Maulanas were unapologetic about the fact that if Hindu majority India came into conflict with any Muslim country, Muslims of India would support the aggression against the state.

Therein lies the truth.

Indian Muslim is an Indian in name only with a minuscule percentage truly believing in India as its Motherland or his country. The majority is unabashedly pro Ummah, believes only in Quran as their Constitution, Islamic Law overrides everything else. The aftermath of the French Presidential address has supposedly sane voices in India justifying the beheadings, knife attacks and terror attacks against France and the French. Many Islamic Nations have asked for Ban on French products, laughingly, none of these Islamic Nations have called for Ban on French armaments industry or its products. The hypocrisy is abundantly displayed by the protests and protestors both in India and world over.

What riles an Indian is the fact that these protests are being projected by the Muslims as a Show of Strength to cow down the majority Hindus, a fear psychosis being created as has been the wont since Islam came into being in the deserts of Saudi Arabia some 1400 years ago. Fear is the most potent weapon employed by Islam to keep its flock and the Unbelievers in bondages and it has succeeded in it. But, it seems that time has come to call off this Fear and France has show the World the way forward here on !

Stigma and discrimination in 21st century classroom

0

Article 15 of the Indian Constitution forbids discrimination of citizens on the basis of religion, caste, race, sex, place of birth, or any of them. It has been more than 70 years that this mandate was adopted, and yet it has not fully transpired into our society. Discrimination is prevalent in our society based on ethnicity, disability, descent, region, dialectal, age, family occupation, class in addition to caste, religion, sex, place of birth. These have crept into our education systems, which ironically is considered instrumental in fighting and eradicating discrimination.

Education institutes cannot function in separation from the society; therefore, to bridge the gap between reality and academics, NCERT introduced “Social and Political Life (SPL)” replacing earlier subject “Civics.” SPL introduces real-life examples and specifically mentions communities like Muslim, Poor, Dalits, etc. It emphasizes teachers to deliver the matter sensitively while maintaining the dignity and respect of all the students in the classroom.

The RTE (Right to Education) came into effect in April 2010, mandates free and compulsory education for all kids from 6-14 years of age; it further requires that the special need students be provided free education in a suitable environment till the age of 18. It also directed private schools to reserve 25% seats for socially disadvantaged and economically weaker section children. In addition to this, the government has been coming up with various other initiatives like Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Abhiyan, SAKSHAM for Differently abled children, Mid-Day Meals Scheme, etc.

However, these measures have still not been substantial in removing the stigma and discrimination outside our classrooms. The RTE forum in 2014 reported that less than 10% of the schools across the country comply with RTE norms. These discriminated children are not just devoid of their constitutional rights but miss out on the opportunity to learn and fight the social evils in society.

Types of Discrimination

Though we all understand discrimination, it is imperative to understand the severity of the matter with hard facts.

  1. Caste Based Discrimination: It is any form of verbal, written, graphical, signage or conduct against an individual on the basis of race, ethnicity, geographical origin, ancestry that will severely impact his/her/their well-being or limit his/ her/their participation or access to resources. A study by Jan Sahas Social Development Society in 2009 reported that only 22% of Dalit children sit in the first row while the remaining 78% sit in the middle or back. 52% of those discriminated against said they were asked to bring separate plates for mid-day meal. 25% were made to sit in a separate line, and 11% reported that they were called by their caste names. Oxfam India report in 2015 reported that 75% of more than sixty lakh children out of school belong to Dalits (32.4%), Muslims (25.7%), or Adivasis (16.6%).
  2. Gender bases Discrimination: Discrimination of an individual based on gender, sexual orientation, or pregnancy. As per the census of 2011, the literacy rate of females was 65.5 % compared to 82.1% of males. The only positive outcome is that the gap in literacy rates between males and females has continued to decline from 26.6% in 1981 to 16.6% in 2011. The same positive trend does not hold true for transgenders, whose population stood at 4,87,803 with a literacy of 57.06% in 2011. As per the CBSE press release of 2020, there were only 19 transgenders in the 10th standard and six transgenders in the 12th standard, whereas there were more than 54,854 transgender children below the age of six in 2011.
  3. Religion Bases Discrimination:  Discrimination of an individual based on religious beliefs or religion.  Examples are offensive jokes about a specific religion and verbal, physical, or written bullying of an individual because of his/her/their religion.
  4. Discrimination based on Physical Disability: Disability discrimination happens when an individual is treated less well or has a disadvantage due to disability. This can happen either directly or indirectly via unfavorable policies, infrastructure, etc. As per the census of 2011, 45% of disabled Indians are illiterate compared to the national average of 26%. The situation is worse for disabled girls. Families feel that since marriage is unrealistic, investment in their education is economically unviable.

Though these are broad categories of discrimination, it is prevalent in many other forms and variations. One fails to understand how these educational institutes, whose sole task is to empower and enlighten students, have failed to remove prejudices and biases.

Why discrimination exists?

Understanding discrimination is easy but explaining why it exists is far more complicated.

Do you know how it feels to be discriminated? asked Ms. Jane Elliott to her third-grade students in a small town of Riceville, Iowa. She was wondering how to explain to these kids what discrimination is and why it exists. Elliot divided the class into a group of two, blue-eyed and brown-eyed. The first day, she said blue-eyed were smarter, kinder, neater, and better than the brown-eyed. Therefore, blue-eyed will have longer recess, will be the first in the lunch line, they can drink from the water fountain. Whereas brown-eyed had to wear collars around their neck, they cannot play with blue-eyed, they will have to drink from paper cups. Soon, she realized that the blue-eyed kids started using offensive, vicious, discriminating comments against brown-eyed. In the test as well, the blue-eyed performed better than brown-eyed. The next day, she said that she had lied, and instead, the brown-eyed were better, and they should have all the privileges, whereas the blue-eyed will have to wear the collar. But this time, the brown-eyed kids were not as mean as the blue-eyed were in a similar situation. They had realized how it felt and did not want anyone to feel the same. She explained that prejudice is an attribute attained due to the environment and society around you. “If it can be learned, it can be unlearned.”

An NGO in Delhi, similarly, conducted a study on Classes 3, 4, and 5 to understand the socio-economic impact of EWS quota in private schools. They found that while the children from poor families were not being discriminated by their wealthier peers but were looked down by non-EWS parents. These parents felt that their children would pick up bad habits and languages that will decrease their learning pace.

It seems that discrimination stems from fear and misunderstanding. It’s the years of conditioning and prejudice that has created this vicious cycle of discrimination. This cycle appears to be fueled by hatred, misunderstanding, fear, prejudices, biases, etc. and despite efforts, society has not been able to break this chain.

Challenges in addressing the issue

There are many challenges in addressing this social stigma and discrimination in schools.

25 percent of all private schools’ seats are reserved for children from the EWS under the Right to Education Act. Through this, the government is trying to treat children equally and provide them with equal opportunity, but they are not able to give equity to children. This is because they cannot provide infrastructure and facilities to the economically weaker section to compete with other regular students. This also leads to discrimination, as other children perceive they are inferior to them.

There is no effective monitoring mechanism to keep a check on the prejudice by school teachers and staff. Keeping a check on it and maintaining records is a tedious and time-consuming task.

his is furthermore challenging when children with a disability come into the picture. Protecting their right to education by ensuring the accessibility of education remains a distant priority for the schools.

Mid-day meal was started to give incentive to students to avail the education facility. One of the purposes of the program was also to reduce discrimination by making people eat together. But there are cases where discrimination was still reported in terms of the treatment towards a particular class of students.

Since these discriminations can be intentional or unintentional, it is difficult to measure and keep a record of the discrimination in schools. The prejudice leading to discrimination can be due to varied reasons, and working on each of them is a difficult and challenging task.

At the core of the issue is the tolerance for inequality and a belief that the underprivileged, marginalized, and person with disabilities are responsible for their situation. This has led to the creation of an intergenerational cycle which has been surviving and thriving for years. Simultaneously, society prefers academic results rather than inclusion and equality.

Solution

  1. All the stakeholders, including educational institutes, NGOs, state, and central government should create an environment that openly recognizes discrimination at all levels and create an environment for dialogue, discussion, and redressal of issues. It is suggested that every institute have an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) comprising of teachers, parents, NGOs, district administration members encompassing every caste, religion, gender, race, etc. that may represent the educational institute being discussed. The ICC should take cognizance of any discriminatory behavior observed and take actions as per law. Every institute should keep a record of all the discriminatory behavior observed in the institute for audit by relevant authorities.
  2. Since the role of teachers are highly crucial in institutes. It is essential to train and reform teachers so that they are not just able to overcome their prejudices but also enable them to handle, sensitively deal with and eliminate discriminatory conduct by anyone in the education system, including other children, parents, teachers, etc.
  3. Institutes should have open discussion and sensitization about discrimination. The institutes should conduct workshops on prevalent discrimination in society. They should invite guests from discriminated groups to speak their experiences and feelings. Students will understand how discrimination cripples their society, which will change their perspective and attitude. It will be an engaging learning experience that will show that discrimination can happen with anyone their friends, family, neighbors, etc, and change starts with them.
  4. Educational institutes to be audited and certified Right To Education compliant, which means ensuring inclusive education in school. This inclusion should not just be in letter but also in spirit. The government should recognize those institutes by giving them ratings and offer incentives to such institutes.
  5. The educational institutes should give students the project to live a day or week like the marginalized groups and express their feelings and opinions after the project. They can tie-up with NGOs to carry out the activity. Seeing and experiencing the situation will change the outlook and perspective of the students. Once they know what it is to be a victim, they would not like to be the victimizers. The only way to learn inclusion is by practicing it.

Years of education and laws have not been able to keep away the prejudices, biases, and stigmas present in the classrooms and society.

Unfortunately, discrimination is common across all walks of life. However, one learns this at an early stage. Therefore, only education has the power to reduce it – and eventually prevent it. It won’t happen overnight, but we need to start asking the difficult questions; we need to question our biases so that we all are treated as a human race who equally deserve the chance to lead a happy and successful life.

How Congress-Islamist honeymoon in India backfired

Muslim League members of Central Legislative Assembly elected in 1946 election, who fought for creation of Islamic Pakistan but did not leave India, became members of Indian Constituent Assembly after independence because of Congress Policy. That was the “Original Sin” of Congress. As those Muslim League members were loyal to Pakistan and not India, they were hindrance inside India’s Constituent Assembly.

In subsequent years and decades, Congress went on pampering Indian Muslims in spite of continued repression of non-Muslims in Pakistan and Bangladesh. Congress helped Indian Muslims to negate their integration with India through nine Islamic steps:

  1. Hajj subsidy: 1959.
  2. Central Waqf Council: 1964.
  3. All India Muslim Personal Law Board: 1972.
  4. Minority Institution status to AMU: 1981.
  5. National Commission for Minorities: 1992.
  6. National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions: 2004.
  7. Sachar Committee: 2005.
  8. Ministry of Minority Affairs: 2006.
  9. Minority Institution status to Jamia Millia Islamia University: 2011.

Muslims of Indian subcontinent ate the apple and had it also. They refused to stay with Hindu Kafir of British India and made Islamic Pakistan (East and West). But most of them stayed back in independent India also. The above mentioned nine Islamic steps taken by Congress allowed them to cultivate a sense of entitlement and exclusiveness in India over the past decades.

Side by side all non-Muslims have constantly been persecuted in Pakistan and Bangladesh. But successive Congress governments remained silent on that vital issue. This is the reason as to why Indian Muslims argue in favour of their practice of ‘heads I win, tails you lose’.

Gandhi ran after the mirage of Muslim loving from 1920, but neither could become their leader nor could prevent partition of India. Congress has been following Gandhi’s same peculiar attribute since seven decades. Both were many times bitten but never shy. Congress tried to be magnanimous with Indian Muslims. But ‘reciprocation’ has not been in the dictionary of Islam.

Countering of Muslim appeasement in India started in 2014 for the first time when BJP under Narendra Modi came to power. During 2017 ‘Triple Talaq’ was abolished. Article 370 was abolished in August 2019, Ram Mandir verdict came in November 2019 and CAA was passed in December 2019. For the first time Indian Muslims felt that there entitlement was threatened. They suddenly felt helpless and became angry too.

Indian Congress-Communist-Liberal-pseudo Secular gang and Lutyens media, which were inherently Muslim leaning and who were made irrelevant in Indian politics by Narendra Modi, started supporting the Islamic dissents of Indian Muslims against Modi. The gang and Lutyens media even started giving anti-national statements to support the Islamic cause in India with the objective of destabilizing BJP government. It was the age old ‘enemy’s enemy is my friend’.

Grandfathers and grate grandfathers of most of the today’s Indian Muslims never fought for freedom of India. Even Muslim poster boy of Congress party Maulana Abul Kalam Azad presided over 1927 Kolkata conference of Muslim League. Barring only a few exceptions, Muslims of British India fought for Islamic Pakistan only. Congress was a ‘Hindu Party’ to them. So, it becomes very interesting and funny now when Islamist journalists of present day India like Arfa Khanum Sherwani, Rana Ayyub and Saba Naqvi et al, become all praiseful about Congress, Gandhi, Nehru, and even Dr Ambedkar.

These Islamist journalists also project them as exponent of Secularism, Pluralism and Indian Constitution. They don’t get tired of glorifying ‘Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb’, which their forefather forgot before 1947. The fact of the matter is there is nothing like Moderate Islam or Moderate Muslim. Islam can’t change its iron box. In Islamic teaching, there is no concept of state; it is always Ummah. And country and Constitution are not above Islam. So, Secularism, Pluralism and Indian Constitution are nothing but tricks for Indian Islamists journalists in particular and Muslim in general.

Malaysia can be used as a case study to understand the actual intent of Islam in India. Malaysia became independent from Britain in 1957. As per census of AD 2000, Muslims constituted 60.4% of total population in Malaysia. But with that thin majority in favour of Muslim population, Islam was made state religion in its 1957 Constitution.

Secularism, pluralism and inclusiveness have been anti-thesis of Islam since 1400 years. In India, Islamists cry overtly for Secularism, pluralism and inclusiveness only because of their numerical weakness. They neither believe nor practice those. Their covert plan is Islamization of India with demographic shift, assertion, violence and playing of victim card.

Indian Islamists can feel that laws pertaining to population control and conversion will be implemented in near future in India under BJP rule. To pre-empt those, the duel words of “Intolerance” and “Islamophobia” are being in constant use by Islamic-Congress-Communist-Liberal-pseudo Secular gang and Lutyens media. They are a rabid lot now!

The bottom line is Indian society has been divided permanently between BJP supporter Hindus on one hand and Islamists (with support from Congress-Communist-Liberal-pseudo Secular gang and Lutyens media) on the other. There are very few fence sitters now.

Open letter to the honorable Prime Minister of India

0

Respected Prime Minister,

As I write this long letter, I am fully aware that you may never ever even look at this. However, a sense of deep anguish has been surrounding a lot of NRIs at the moment. As an ardent admirer of Sushant Singh Rajput I had a monumental urge to get in touch with you.

I am a millennial who migrated over to England in 2004 (along with my parents) so most of my teens and formative years have been spent away from India, hence unfortunately I am unfamiliar with the Indian judicial system.

Everything was fine in the lockdown, until we heard about Sushant Singh Rajput’s unfortunate demise on the 14th June 2020. There were speculations form day 1 about it being a suicide and no FIR was registered for a long time. It was due to the public movement and social media movement that the case got transferred to the CBI.

Since I can not go on any social media platform I was feeling a little bit frustrated so thought of following SSR and writing my heart out! It is funny how I was discussing this with my father and he said– one of the reasons to move away from India was that he saw how nothing ever happens to the mighty and powerful, whilst a normal man is destined to be maimed by the system. I replied to my dad – “this is new India, people are more vigilant, empathetic and aware more than ever and the central leadership is people centric”.

His fans started this movement and it will be successful as he was truly a pure soul and a true Mahadev Bhakt. He however, laughed and said this will be brushed under the carpet like all the previous cases. I wasn’t convinced – I hope that the CBI realises that the entire world is looking at India now and if this is not lead to logical conclusion then India as a country will become a laughing stock around the world.

It has brought to our attention that there are political negotiations happening in Maharashtra and Bihar. If this case is used as a political leverage and brushed under the carpet then mark the words of your true admirer and a Pravasi Bhartiya (who prays for your health) it will not be good for your political reign.

My family voted for you and we happily campaign for you outside of India, however, I wonder this is what you meant when you said “Acche din aane wale hain” Are these “good days”. Days where justice is compromised because of dirty politics, where the rich, famous, high and mighty never get touched/punished for their crimes and the middle class innocents get ‘maimed’ by the system?

When we see you as our Prime Minister, we feel proud to have a leader governing India who calls his country his family! Would you choose to remain quiet when a family member is brutally murdered? The whole world is looking at this and it is about India’s reputation. If murderers of a big celebrity can roam freely and not get punished, imagine what will happen to a normal Indian? If SSR does not get Justice then no body will ever get justice in India.

Finally, I would like to end my email by saying that you once said in your speech “Mere desh ki Matru Shakti hi mere liye Raksha kavach hain” This request comes from a female fan of Sushant Singh Rajput. I hope you realise the Durga shakti within me and millions of his female fans. I hope that you realise that Power of people is greater than people in power.

I have always admired you for being fearless and transparent, people of India chose you over the corrupt politicians who would never give second thought to even selling the country. Please do not prove us wrong – do not let us regret our decision.

Jai Bharat, Jai Hind!
May Maa Durga guide you every step of the way!
Yours Sincerely,
A concerned and informed Pravasi Bhartiya
