The answer is yes, let us clarify the reason behind this. The majority of the Kongu region in west Tamil Nadu (comprises of Districts like Erode, Tiruppur, Karur, Coimbatore, Namakkal, Salem and Udhagamandalam – Ooty) comprises of Caste called Kongu Vellalar (Gounder) they are seen as the landlords of this area. The tradition of this Community is different from the all the other Tamil Castes. They are nearly 40% in the entire Zone. Whatever the Party may be out of 50 Assembly Constituencies they are leading in all the numbers like 30 – 40 in all the elections.
Hindutva tradition: Their ancient tradition is different from all other other communities as I said, they have the same structure which was followed by the Great Chola Dynasty like they are classified into internal divisions called as Kootams, each Kootam has one Kula Guru from a Aadhi Saivar (Brahmin) following for the past thousands of years. They used to do Poojas for Lord Shiva or Lord Vishnu on behalf of these fellow Community peoples. The BJP Party has less growth in TN in all the areas except the west zone and whereas in Other zones it has good growth in Muslim dominated areas. When we look up the 2016 Vidhan sabha vote share where the BJP Party stood lonely the amount of vote shared by the party is tremendous in this zone. The Kongu Belt leaders like Vanathi Srinivasan, CP Radhakrishnan have done a wonderful job in this election.
BJP with Kongu Zone: Before five years ago there arose an issue called Madhorubagan issue for the Hindu’s especially for the Gounder community ladies. A guy called Perumal Murugan with the support of Leftist forces like Thirumavalan (VCK MP), MK Stalin (DMK President) he wrote a book called MadhoruBagan where he insulted the Lord Shiva and Devi temple and the local Hindu ladies like illustrating a fake story. He wrote the story reflecting the famous local temple Arthanareeswarar where Lord Shiva gave his half of the body to Devi indicating Men and Women have equal power and rights. But the author of that book written as the local Married Hindu ladies who have no children can come to this temple during festivals and can choose the men for giving birth to baby and etc stuffs which can’t be written here, he wrote the words with full of arrogance against the Hindu Community. In this Party the BJP Party and Hindu forces stood with the people and the Dravidian forces like DMK, VCK stood for the Author. After a long struggle and protest by the people with the help of BJP and RW masses the Author issued a statement asking apologies to the locals.
The BJP has good leaders in this election too (2021) in this zone, like its State President L Murugan also contested from an Assembly called Dharapuram from Tiruppur District, Vanathi Srinivasan (Mahila Morcha National President), and an well known Doctor Dr CK Saraswathi from Modakurichi in Erode District and its State Vice President Shri K Annamalai IPS (Singham) contested from Aravakuruchi in Karur District. The mass created by Annamalai IPS in this Zone is amazing. The youngsters are celebrating Singham Annamalai as anything in this area, and the result is BJP is growing and Lotus will Bloom for sure in upcoming years.
