उदारवादी शब्द के सुनते ही ऐसा लगता है कि कोई बंगाली बाला कुछ गुनगुना रही हो परंतु इस भ्रम से धोखा मत खा जाना। उदारवादी यह शब्द सुनने में जितना अच्छा लगता है, भारत की वर्तमान स्थिति में यह शब्द उतना ही अधिक गिरा हुआ है। यदि गंदगी से भरे गटर में आपका कुछ सामान गिर जाये तो थोड़ी बहुत कोशिश करने के बाद मिले या शायद ना मिले लेकिन यदि भारतीय उदारवादी किसी गटर में गिर जाये तो लाख कोशिश करने के बावजूद नहीं मिलेगा क्योकि गटर और उदारवादी दोनों आपस में ऐसे घुल मिल जाते हैं कि आप को गटर में सिर्फ और सिर्फ गंदगी दिखेगी।

सही – सही कहें तो सिर्फ उदारवादी कहने से उदारवादी शब्द का अपमान हो  सकता है इसलिए इन्हें परजीवी उदारवादी कहना ही सही होगा। परजीवी इसलिए क्योंकि उदारवाद के नाम पर इस प्रजाति के लोग गरीबी, आत्महत्या और भुखमरी जैसे सभी मुद्दों पर लाभ कमाते हैं।

परजीवी उदारवादी मनुष्यों की कई प्रजातियां अलग-अलग स्थान पर पाई जाती है परंतु इनका सबसे बड़ा समुह दिल्ली और लुटियन इलाके में बहुताय मात्रा में पाया जाता है। चूँकि दिल्ली और लुटियन क्षेत्र में सबसे अधिक मात्रा में डकैत पाये जाते हैं और परजीवी उदारवादी की आय का सबसे बड़ा साधन लुटियन क्षेत्र के डकैत ही है। परजीवी उदारवादी की एक प्रजाति पत्रकार के रूप में भी पनप रही है। ये पत्रकार असली मुद्दे की बात रखना चाहते है। असली मुद्दा यह है की हमारे देश के प्रधानमंत्री किस कम्पनी की कलम से हस्ताक्षर करते है उनके पास महँगी घड़ियाँ और अरमानी के कपड़े खरीदने के पैसे कहा से आये है। इस प्रजाति वाले पत्रकार i-फ़ोन – i-पैड से ट्वीट करके किसान की गरीबी तथा सादा जीवन उच्च विचार से प्रेरित होने की बात करते हैं।

परजीवी उदारवादी की एक प्रजाति उंगल बाज होती है। इनकी उंगलियाँ बेहया के डंडे  के जितनी लंबी होती है। इनकी उंगली इनके काबू में नहीं रहती है। ये हर किसी को लिफ्ट में, प्लेन में और ऑफिस में उंगली करते रहते हैं, विशेषकर महिलाओ को। उंगल बाज परजीवी उदारवादी रावण की पूजा करते है क्योंकि भगवान को पूजना तो संपूर्ण परजीवी उदारवादी प्रजाति के खिलाफ है। ये रावण की पूजा इसलिए करते है क्योंकि उंगली करने की प्रेरणा इन्हे रावण से मिली है। इनका मानना है की रावण को सीता पसंद थी तो उसने अपनी आदर्शवादी विचारधारा के तहत सीता का अपहरण किया और सीता का बचाव ना कर पाना श्री राम की असफलता को दर्शाता है।

परजीवी उदारवादी को कलयुग का नारद कहना गलत नहीं होगा क्योंकि वो हर अच्छी चीजों में बुराई ढूंढ लेते है। चाय थोड़ी और गरम होती तो मजा आ जाता। भाजी में हल्का सा नमक कम था। आज बरसात तेज हो रही है, आज ठण्ड ज्यादा है, आज गरमी बढ़ गई है, पुलिस ने आतंकवादियों को क्यों नहीं पकड़ा ? पुलिस ने आतंकवादियों को क्यों छोड़ दिया ? इसमे तो सेना की ही गलती होगी। परजीवी उदारवादी हर चीज में ये खामिया ढूंढ लेते हैं। ये फ्री सेक्स और ओपन माइंड की इतनी बात करते है की कभी – कभी इनके खुद की बहन – बेटियों के कारनामे इन्हे सीधे समाचार पत्रों या टीवी से मिलते है।

परजीवी उदारवादी अपने से विपरीत राजनैतिक विचारधारा रखने वालो को पसंद नहीं करते हैं और परजीवी उदारवाद की विचारधारा पर तर्क करने पर वो लोगों को समाप्त कर देने की कोशिश करतें हैं। परजीवी उदारवादियों का मानना है की भीष्म ने अपनी भुजाओ के बल पर गांधारी का विवाह धृतराष्ट्र से करवाया इसलिए महाभारत में बतलाया शकुनी का एक – एक काम सही है और भारत सरकार को उन्हें भारतरत्न दे देना चाहिए।

Mumbai: Arnab Goswami has walked out of his den. The fire spewing, ricocheting chamber of TimesNow studio will no more hear the roar of its lion. While he has revealed that he has other plans, reports coming from various sources has revealed a shocking reason behind his exit – that he had converted to Islam.

If one could remember what transpired a few weeks back, Arnab Goswami came down on Islamic Preacher Zakir Naik, after allegations that the latter influenced many Indians to join ISIS. Arnab Goswami single-handedly dismantled the (2+2=4) castles that Peace TV celebrity Zakir Naik had built over all his lifetime. The erstwhile Doctor had to face the wrath of lenient Indian Police then.

Following this, Zakir Naik had filed defamation on Arnab Goswami. Things were going fine until Arnab resigned from Times Now last week. While there were speculations about his next venture, our sources have unveiled shocking reasons behind this strange exit. As per reports, Arnab Goswami had converted to Islam a week back.

A source very close to Arnab Goswami’s neighbor revealed the startling info, “After the Zakir Naik episode, Arnab Goswami had been spending more time on his laptop, going through countless videos of the preacher. Hypnotized by the speeches of Zakir, Arnab had started doing prayers in his bedroom in a secretive manner, although this had been noted by his sweeper. Then came the defamation suit from Zakir Naik. Arnab had to pay 500 Crore Rupees to Zakir and he clearly did not have much money. Arnab then had several Skype calls with Zakir, wherein he had tried to convince the preacher to withdraw the case. Zakir was adamant until Arnab started reciting certain sacred verses in Arabic to him.”

Wife of that source then pitched in an info, “Our milkman once said that he saw Arnab come out of nearby mosque one midnight, with the skullcap. It was then later spoken in the market near the mosque that he had converted to Islam. His maid said to us that Arnab told his wife that he had to convert to Islam to escape Zakir’s lawsuit. We feel that his exit from TimesNow and even journalism was to perform his religious duties, as demanded by Zakir Naik.”

An Expert on religious conversion revealed that Arnab had it coming, ever since his birth. “The name Arnab has the word Arab in it. So, he can be more Arab than the Pakistanis whom he had roasted in his shows.”

A friend and confidante of Arnab affirmed our suspicions and further said that “There have been talks about the decision by mosques across the city to remove loudspeakers and replace them with Arnab. He would be a muezzin and sitting at minaret of the central mosque, his call for Azan (prayer) can be heard till Bangladesh. Zakir Naik has taken away two plus two mangoes with a single stone – he has won the unbeatable Arnab, solved the loudspeaker issue, brought Sanjay Jha out of his closet and also has finished ticking all items of his ‘To-do’ list for India.”

Dear Mr Patel,

This is in response to your piece published in today’s TOI under a presumptuously named column ‘AakaarVani’. I’m writing this to correct you on some factual and a lot of perceptual errors that seem to behind almost every sentence in the piece. I’m writing in the hope that you may correct these, unless of course these aren’t inadvertent, but deliberate spin that you want to give to bolster the argument you make in the title of the piece.

Let me start by pointing out the irony in the title itself, since having written it yourself, you obviously didn’t spot it. That an article criticising the army and saying a lot of things about the faujis is titled “Nothing can be said about our faujis, they’re above criticism”. If irony was alive in India, it may have died another death – though even now it must have turned a little in its grave at this.

As regards the assertion itself. I don’t see the basis of the sweeping statement that the army is above criticism. By whom? By the media? Haven’t you heard of the ‘Ketchup Colonel’ or rather read criticism of his actions which was widely covered by the media. As are any instances of wrong doings or corruption, rare though they are, whenever they do come up – like this report about a recent case.  By the judiciary? Courts regularly pass adverse remarks and judgements affecting the armed forces, as in this case. By the government? The fact that they have ordered a probe to investigate lapses, if any, in the Uri attack is a clear indication that not just criticism, the army isn’t immune to adverse action either.

Although I’m sure that wasn’t the thought behind your assertion, but let me point out the reason why there is a sliver of truth in it. Yes, by and large the army IS above criticism, and that is because by it’s performance and conduct, it seldom leaves itself open to it. Whether fighting terrorists in Kashmir, rescuing victims of natural disaster in Uttarakhand, or displaying it might and pomp during the Republic Day parade, it performs its job diligently, effectively and without fear or favour.  In a country where we are usually resigned to indifference, inefficiency, nepotism and corruption, such conduct probably sets it apart and hence by and large above criticism. Except, of course, the occasional black sheep, such as the cases I’ve already cited above.

To answer your question, probably that’s the reason why “in India this respect has changed to reverence.” As regards the “cult of Army worship that we have built so successfully”, there hasn’t been a single instance of a newspaper or TV channel being attacked or journalist shot (a la Charlie Hebdo) for adverse reporting on the army – above mentioned or otherwise. Unless of course, you yourself feel that your own or anyone else’s adverse opinion about the army is above criticism and feel anyone expressing a view countering it is a ‘worshipper’.

You have raised two other points, both of which indicate either an incomplete understanding of the issues, or a deliberate attempt at misrepresentation. First is about pensions. You say, “Why should retired soldiers insist on getting what retired teachers and clerks and postmen do not?” I would request you to read a little more on what OROP is all about. It’s actually about retired soldiers insisting on being brought UP to what retired teachers, clerks, postmen – and bureaucrats – are getting, and NOT about getting MORE than them. Soldiers serve up to 35-45 years of age (because of the organisational requirement of keeping the army young) while all others serve up to 60, and as a result of missing out the corresponding number of increments and promotions, their pensions were much lower than others. This has been rectified to a great extent in OROP, and they have been brought up to a place where they are at less of a disadvantage – still not getting more.

The second is about “some minor rule which equates an Army officer with a bureaucrat of similar rank. But why must soldiers insist on this parity?” Again, complete lack of information, or deliberate obfuscation. The order you refer to has, in fact, downgraded army officers vis a vis bureaucrats from the previously existing equation, and hence it is the bureaucrats who are insisting on revising the parity, not the army officers, who have represented to the MoD for restoration of status quo.

One can understand your angst against the army by reading the very first paragraph of your piece – “Every day, on my way to work, I go past the headquarters of the Madras Sappers in Bengaluru. A tank in desert camouflage is at the gate, its cannon overlooking the pretty Ulsoor Lake. I’d like to row on it but civilians are forbidden.” So, since the army regulations prohibit you from enjoying this, you decide to write a bunch of lies and half-truths to vent your frustration.

I would love to challenge your views on the bit you have written about the battle honours, mercenaries and pre vs post-independence army. But I’ll save that for another time, as I think this is more than you can digest in one go. If you are up to it, I can debate that in writing or face to face at your convenience.

New Delhi: Indian Government has ordered for a ban on NDTV following its unethical practice in displaying Pathankot Ops to its target customer base – Pakistani terrorists.

As a means of protest against the ban, Ravish ‘Jaat’ Kumar brought two mime artists to his most-watched (by two Indians) show NDTV Prime Time. While Residential Non Indians (RNIs) and Pakistanis have cheered the show, there had been some shocking reports from the BARC India, the TRP tracking agency.

As per reports from BARC India, the only two Indians who had been watching NDTV for a long time had stopped watching the show when it was halfway yesterday. An analyst from the agency spoke to us on conditions of anonymity, “That day, I was relaxing in my seat and watching the impressions in our tracking software. There were two dots from India for the NDTV prime time hosted by Ravish. Ten minutes into the show, those two dots disappeared. I was shocked and waited for an hour. But it never reappeared.”

“In a panic mode, I rushed to my boss and asked whether the ban on NDTV was imminent, but he replied in negative. It was then we realized that we lost the only two viewers of NDTV. I really miss seeing those two dots. So, I took the support of our team which deals with Cable operators and tracked down the coordinates and got their addresses. If you want to see such rare species, I can share you those addresses.”, concluded the analyst. He was gracious enough to share their details.

Our investigative team placed calls to those two last loyal viewers of NDTV. One was in Bihar and another was in Delhi. While Delhi man did not respond to our calls, Bihar man was kind enough to answer. “I had been watching NDTV, especially for Ravish Kumar. I had been a fan of him ever since he used to ask caste of people. Lastly, I saw a show where he brought two guys with white paints on their faces. Usually, I would be half-sleepy waiting for the word ‘jaat‘ to wake me up. But, those white painted faces made me lose my sleep. I was so confused by their language and actions that I got irritated and broke the TV. A few minutes later, my brother from Delhi also called and said he shot the TV with his pistol, after watching that mime faces.”

Disappointment for ex-servicemen again, as a serious issue has been dumped in the politics-bin of India once again, thanks to some really responsible political leaders of India.

In a heartbreaking event which took place on 2 November 2016, Ram Kishan Grewal, ex-serviceman of Indian Army committed suicide, the reason for the same is not clear but a plethora of conjectures about the galore of  probable  reasons have fired up.

Ex serviceman, political parties and their serpent leaders came out of their bills to spill the poison of hate and disgrace in the hearts of ex-servicemen for Modi Government. Here is a tweet by the ‘everything’ of Congress, Rahul Gandhi

Being an informed citizen one will be aghast, taken aback with astonishment that Rahul Gandhi has said that. Still confused about what I am talking of! Please have a look at some very ‘responsible’ steps treaded forward by Congress, same Congress whose Vice President is none other than Rahul Gandhi, here are some steps taken by the Congress and their leaders:

1973: Prime Minister Indira Gandhi terminated OROP for veterans in an ex-prate decision, the legal definition of which implies that it was taken to favour only one party.

1986: Indira Gandhi’s son and Former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi, in another move, had implemented rank pay for army officers. However, the section disapproved it as it affected their basic pay and designation.

2002: Congress President Sonia Gandhi had advocated the OROP demand at a rally in Chandigarh. However, despite being in power for the next 12 years, the Congress dilly-dallied on the implementation of the scheme.

2004:  The Congress, in its manifesto, had mentioned that the issue of OROP will be scrutinised and a solution will be obtained. As a part of the UPA I and the UPA II government, the Congress could not implement their manifesto promise. Keeping this in mind, Rahul Gandhi cannot question the Modi government over the non-implementation of OROP using the “election manifesto” argument.

2008: Following resentment, the UPA government replaced rank pay with apex OROP, which proved to be a further setback for the veterans. Also, in a written reply to Kalraj Mishra, the then Defence Minister AK Antony had said that the Government has not found Ex-Servicemen’s demand for OROP as acceptable.

2011: The Bhagat Singh Koshyari committee submitted a report to the UPA government on OROP. But the UPA government had said that there were ‘administrative, financial and legal complications in implementation of the OROP scheme.’

2012: The UPA government approved OROP but declared that it will not set aside Rs 2,300 Crore.

2014: OROP however, was not implemented while the UPA allocated only Rs 500 crore in its last budget. Last year, Rahul Gandhi had claimed that the NDA Government was blocking the provisions which the-then UPA Government had made for the implementation of OROP

It may be noted that the veterans were receiving OROP until 1971, the year when the Indira Gandhi government cut down military pension from 70 percent of the last pay drawn to 50 percent of the last pay drawn and increased – simultaneously – the pension of the civil servants from 30 percent of the last pay to 50 percent.
It is obvious that the UPA government made a half-hearted attempt to woo the veterans, that too just on the eve of the 2014 elections. Otherwise, how can one explain the Manmohan Singh government’s calculation that the OROP would cost between Rs 1,000 to 1,600 crore? Therefore, it is sheer dishonesty when Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi and AK Antony say that it is “we who accepted the principle of OROP and NDA is only implementing it.”

One should ask  Rahul Gandhi where he was when all this happened, he could have said something against the actions UPA government was taking which added to ex-servicemen’s agonies, but his silence prevailed which shows how much he cares about them.The same Rahul Gandhi who blamed Govt. for “Khoon ki Dalali” is now doing ” Politics over suicide”.

Now, talking about the one who loves to intrude in almost any issue whether he knows something about it or not, Arvind Kejriwal also jumps in the battle as he did what he does most of the time, he talks about the failures of Modi Govt. Why the hell on earth he is following what Congress use to do? Can’t he see that only criticism and doing nothing has slumped Congress from zenith to nadir.

Why not Delhi govt. do something more than just dispensing off one crore rupees to the deceased ex-army man and honouring him with Shaheed title? Why can’t they launch a programme on their own which is aimed at securing future of ex-army men, at least for those belonging to Delhi. They can provide them jobs, free schooling to their kids, free health care for their families etc. which will really show how eager they are to give everyone what they deserve as tweeted by Arvind Kejriwal:

Now, talking about the actions and reactions of Govt. on this disappointing incidence, Govt. is not ready to accept it was their fault, as it is constantly reiterating that it was a mistake committed by SBI Bhivani branch in calculating the income of deceased.

Ministry sources said Grewal had received a lesser amount as part of the One Rank-One Pension scheme under the 6th pay commission due to an error in calculation by the SBI bank branch in Bhiwani district of Haryana

The other reasons might also pop up, but the opportunist politicians of India, the seasonal ones have misused and exploited the issue for their own interest.

According to Govt., Grewal was a beneficiary of OROP according to 6th pay commission. Now, having a look at what Manohar Parrikar, the Defence Minister tweeted:

This is really a welcome step taken by the government, but whatever government is spending should reach the needy ones otherwise the protest will carry on and on…

Summing up, everyone is blaming everyone and nobody is thinking for ex-servicemen. All of them are just enjoying their cup of tea. No one is doing anything on his own, but just blaming others. This has now become the very nature of Indian politics, a very sad picture!

रवीश जी एक बार फिर आपको अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता की घनघोर चिंता हुई, अपना स्टैण्डर्ड फॉर्मेट छोड़कर नयी नौटंकी करनी पड़ी. इस बार तो इतना गंभीर था मामला कि अपनी कहानी की शुरुआत आपको नचिकेता की कहानी सुनाकर करनी पड़ी. नचिकेता की उसी कहानी में आगे एक जगह यमराज बोले हैं कि:

देवैरत्रापि विचिकित्सितं पुरा न हि सुविज्ञेयमणुरेष धर्मः
[कठोपनिषद 1:21]

जिसका हिंदी अर्थ है – पुराने ज्ञानी देवता तक भी यहाँ आकर भ्रमित हो जाते हैं, इसके पीछे का सत्य इतना सूक्ष्म और गूढ़ है कि आम मनुष्य की तो समझ से ही परे है. कहा होगा किसी के लिए, हमें क्या. बस आपका प्रोग्राम देखकर ऐसे ही याद आ गयी थी ये लाइन. उसी कठोपनिषद में आगे लिखा है:

अविद्यायामन्तरेवर्तमानाः स्वयं धीराः पण्डितंमन्यमानाः
दन्द्रम्यमाणाः परियन्ति मूढा अन्धेनैव नीयमाना यथान्धाः
[कठोपनिषद 2:5]

इसका मोटा-मोटी अर्थ है कि ज्ञान के घमंड में डूबे बड़े विद्वान लोग सांसारिक माया जमा करते हैं और इनके द्वारा मिस-गाइडेड भोले भाले लोग अंधों की तरह (इनके पीछे) भटकते रहते हैं. ये किसके लिए कहा गया है आप बेहतर जानते हैं. आप भी बड़े विद्वान हैं.

रवीश जी वाकई आप बहुत बड़े …………. हैं, बहुत ही ………. इंसान हैं और उससे भी ज्यादा ……… पत्रकार. मैंने दोनों विशेषण नहीं लिखे. लेकिन यहाँ सत्य इतना गूढ़ नहीं है. आप पहली बार में ही समझ जायेंगे कि वहां कौन कौन से विशेषण आने चाहिए. आप ही नहीं हर कोई समझ जाएगा और बिलकुल सही समझेगा. इस “हर कोई” में पहले श्लोक के आम मनुष्य और दूसरे श्लोक के भोले-भाले मनुष्य दोनों ही शामिल हैं. आपने अपने दो जोकरों वाले प्रोग्राम में सवाल पूछा था कि बिना शब्दों के डेमोक्रेसी का स्टार्टअप कैसे शुरू करें, तो ये आइडिया वहीँ से आया.

आपकी स्टाइल को इससे ज्यादा कॉपी नहीं कर सकता, आइये अब बिलकुल सीधे और बिना लाग लपेट के बात करते हैं. पिछली बार जब अपने एजेंडा के तहत “भारत तेरे टुकड़े होंगे” वालों को बचाने की जरूरत थी तब आपने पूरे मीडिया को बीमार, देश को जहरीला और अपने से इतर राजनीतिक मत वालों को गुंडा करार दिया. इसके लिए कई सारी बड़ी-बड़ी संकल्पनाओं जैसे देशभक्ति, लोकतंत्र, मीडिया की नैतिक जिम्मेदारी आदि की दुहाई दे दी. लगे हाथों अपने राइवल अर्नब गोस्वामी को जी भर के गरियाया. आरएसएस और मोदी को कोसने में कोई कसर नहीं छोड़ी. ये सदियों पुरानी तरकीब है लिबरल लोगों की. जब तथ्यों और तर्कों से किसी वाहियात को जायज बताना संभव नहीं होता है तो गोल-मोल बातें करके, कलात्मक रूप देने का दिखावा करते हुए उसे तोड़-मरोड़ कर किसी ऊंचे और स्थापित संकल्पना से जोड़ देना, तथ्यों और तर्कों को कविता और कला की आड़ में मार देना और फिर उसको जस्टिफाई करने की जरूरत ही नहीं बचती. फिल्म इंडस्ट्री में काफी दिखता है ये. सीधे-सीधे वासनामय विवाहेतर संबंधों को दिखाना समाज में स्वीकार्य नहीं है इसलिए वो लिबरल रास्ता अपनाते हैं. इसीलिए वो इसको घुमा-फिराकर कर “प्रेम” का नाम दे देते हैं. नग्न नारी शरीर को “प्राकृतिक कलात्मकता” बोल कर दिखाते हैं. यही काम बिना लिबरल-लॉजिक लगाये किया जाय तो इसको पोर्न कहा जाएगा. बिलकुल इसी तरह आप आतंकवादियों की खैरख्वाही को मानवता और नैतिकता से जोड़ देते हैं. तथ्यों और तर्कों को आप स्क्रीन काली करके गायब कर देते हैं. ये बात आपको पहले भी बोली थी मैंने. कुछ साल पहले तक एक सत्ता होती थी जिसमें लोकतंत्र के नाम पर राजशाही जारी थी. लोकतंत्र में सत्ता और जनता के बीच संवाद का एक ही जरिया था; मीडिया. लेकिन जब लोकतंत्र की आड़ में राजशाही जारी रही तब पत्रकारिता की आड़ में दलाली भी शुरू हो गयी. जो सत्ताधारी जनता द्वारा चुने जाने चाहिए थे वो किसी राजवंश से आने लगे तब पत्रकारिता पर भी पूरी तरह दलालों का कब्ज़ा हो गया. जनता के पास सवाल पूछने का कोई रास्ता नहीं बचा. जनता ईमानदार है, जमीर नहीं बेचा करती इसीलिए जीने के लिए, कमाने के लिए खून-पसीना बहाना पड़ता है. काम-काज में व्यस्त रहने वाली जनता को ज्यादा समय नहीं मिलता था ये सब सोचने के लिए. और ऊपर से सत्ता के दलाल जनता को ये बताकर भरमाते रहते थे कि “बागों में बहार है, चुनी हुई सरकार है“. कभी कभी अपने अन्नदाताओं द्वारा भेजी गयी सवालों की लिस्ट में पढ़कर कुछ सवाल भी पूछ लिया करते थे ये दलाल सत्ताधीशों से. जनता इनके बहकावे में आती रही. जनता को सत्ताधीशों ने नहीं, दलालों ने लूटा है. ध्यान दीजियेगा, पत्रकारों ने नहीं, दलालों ने.

इन्ही सबमें 60-70 साल बीत गए. जनता भी सोचने लगी कि जब “बागों में बहार है, फिर देश क्यों बीमार है?”. सवाल बहुत थे; “बागों में बहार है, फिर युवा क्यों बेरोजगार है?”. दलालों की बदकिस्मती से इसी बीच सोशल मीडिया का उद्भव हुआ. जनता को अब सवाल पूछने का और जवाब जानने का रास्ता मिल गया. जनता समझ गयी कि “बागों में बहार है, लेकिन दलालों से घिरी सरकार है“. और पिछले लोकसभा चुनाव में जनता ने फैसला कर लिया. राजवंश से सत्ता छीनकर एक चुने हुए नेता को दे दी. पुराने सत्ताधीश भी सत्ता से ऊब चुके थे, सोचे बहुत खा लिया, अब कुछ कुछ दिन जुगाली कर ली जाय, सो चुप हो गए. सबसे ज्यादा बेचैन हुए ये दलाल लोग. तिलमिला से गए. कभी पत्रकारिता कर रहे एंकर को गरियाते तो कभी देश को जहरीला बताते.

जनता ने अब सवाल पूछने शुरू कर दिए थे. सिर्फ सत्ता से ही नहीं बल्कि उन दलालों से भी. ये दलालों के लिए दोहरा झटका था. आजतक उनसे कोई सवाल नहीं पूछता था, और सत्ता से सवाल पूछने का हक़ सिर्फ उनका था. अब ये दोनों बातें नहीं रहीं. चूंकि लोकतंत्र भी आ गया था, सो लोकतंत्र की परिभाषा के अनुसार जनता ही असली शासक भी थी. जनता और सत्ता के बीच कोई दीवार या सीमा नहीं रही. जनता अब खुद को सत्ता का हिस्सा समझने लगी. इसीलिए कभी कभी दलाल द्वारा सत्ता से पूछे गए सवालों का जवाब जनता भी देने लगी. ये तीसरा बड़ा झटका था.  सवाल अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता का नहीं, सवाल अभिव्यक्ति पर एकाधिकार का था. आपका एकाधिकार छिन गया. भयंकर तिलमिलाहट. यही इस बार के आपके प्रोग्राम का एजेंडा था.

अब आगे की कहानी, पठानकोट हमले के समय आपके चैनल ने ख़ुफ़िया जानकारी प्रसारित की. ये परंपरा कारगिल युद्ध के समय बरखा ने शुरू की, 26/11 के मुंबई हमलों में पूरे देश ने देखा. पठानकोट में फिर वही किया. कायदे से आपके चैनल पर देशद्रोह का मुक़दमा चलना चाहिए, लेकिन चूंकि मीडिया का मामला है इसलिए बस 1 दिन के लिए प्रसारण बंद करने को कहा गया. न्यूज चैनल में काम करने वाले प्लंबर की गाड़ी पर भी “प्रेस” लिखा देखकर पुलिस उनको बिना हेलमेट जाने देती है, आप तो असली प्रेस हैं. सरकार ने डरना ही था.

कानून में सजा के कई सारे प्रकार हैं, सबका अलग-अलग उद्देश्य है. मुख्य चार प्रकार हैं:
1. Deterrent: सजा के डर से दूसरे लोग अपराध करने से डरें. [चैनल पर बहुत बड़ा फाइन, जिससे आर्थिक रूप से विकलांग हो जाये.]
2. Retributive: बदला, आँख के बदले आँख. [किसी चैनल की गोपनीय सूचनाएं सार्वजनिक कर के]
3. Preventive: अपराधी को अपराध करने से रोक देना. [न्यूज चैनल को हमेशा/लम्बे समय के लिए बंद करवा देना]
4. Reformative: अपराधी को सुधारने के लिए सांकेतिक सजा देना. [क्लास के बहार खड़ा करना, न्यूज चैनल का प्रसारण 1-2 दिन के लिए रोक देना]

पहले तीन प्रायः न्यायालयों तक ही सीमित हैं, लेकिन आखिरी तरीका सरकारें और गैर-न्यायिक संस्थाएं भी उपयोग में लेती हैं.
आपके चैनल के लिए उचित तो था कि पहली तीन में से कोई एक सजा दी जाए, जैसा कि पहले की सरकारें कई बार कर चुकी हैं, पत्रकारिता को सजा दे चुकी हैं. लेकिन तब जनता को पता नहीं चला क्योंकि संवाद तंत्र दलालों के हाथ में था, “बागों में बहार थी, सैयां की सरकार थी“. अब ऐसा नहीं है. आप तिलमिलाए हुए तो थे ही, इसी को आपने लिबरल लोगों की तरह मौका बना लिया. इस reformative सजा को आपने retributive करार दिया. NDTV के 1 दिन के प्रसारण बंद होने को आखिरकार आपने ये साबित कर दिया कि कैसे सरकार देश के सारे चैनलों को बंद कर दिया है, हमेशा के लिए, आपातकाल आ गया है. कारण आपने ये बता दिया कि आपने सरकार से सवाल पूछे थे इसलिए सरकार गुस्से में थी, बदला ले लिया. पठानकोट का नाम तक नहीं लिया, बीच में भोपाल एनकाउंटर केस ले आये. वही केस जिसकी भूमिका में आप व्यथित थे कि जब उन आठ लोगों को सजा नहीं हुई थी तो उनके लिए आतंकवादी शब्द का प्रयोग क्यों हो रहा है? जो आठ निर्दोष लोग सिर्फ दो बार जेल तोड़कर भागे और भागने से पहले सिर्फ एक पुलिस वाले का गला रेता उनको लोग दोषी क्यों मान रहे हैं. और उसी में आगे आप उनको “SIMI कार्यकर्ता” बोलते हैं. कार्यकर्ता?? सच में?? रवीश जी, SIMI एक घोषित और प्रतिबंधित आतंकवादी संगठन है, इसका हर सदस्य आतंकवादी है. पत्रकारों को ये पता होता है. खैर छोड़िये… आप भी जानते हैं कि 1 दिन का ये बैन आपके मृतप्राय चैनल के लिए असल में संजीवनी बूटी है. जिस तरह आप गालियाँ देखकर खुश होते हैं, इस सजा पर भी हुए होंगे. अगर आपको लगता कि सरकार गलत है तो आप स्क्रीन काली और मुंह सफ़ेद करने की बजाय कोर्ट में जाते. लेकिन ऐसा आप नहीं करेंगे. आप तो खुश हैं इस बैन से और भुनाएंगे इसको. आपकी असल तिलमिलाहट तो ये थी कि जनता ने आपसे सवाल पूछ लिए थे और सरकार से पूछे गए आपके प्रायोजित सवालों के जवाब जनता ने दे दिए थे. तिलमिलाहट में आप आखिर बोल ही गए कि सरकार से ज्यादा जवाब “ट्रोल” दे देते हैं, और इससे आपको डर लगने लगा है.

आगे आप किसी राजकमल झा को कोट करते हैं जिन्होंने कहा है कि “सरकार का हमसे नाराज होना हमारे लिए सम्मान की बात है.” फिर से वही घटिया तर्क. लिबरल तकनीक. Propositional Calculas में इसको fallacy of the inverse कहा जाता है. सरल हिंदी में “दवा अगर अच्छी है तो स्वाद अच्छा नहीं होगा” से ये निष्कर्ष निकालना कि “गोबर का स्वाद अच्छा नहीं है, इसलिए ये अच्छी दवा साबित होगा”. पत्रकार अगर अच्छा काम करे तो सरकार नाराज होगी, लेकिन इसका मतलब ये नहीं कि सरकार अगर नाराज है तो पत्रकार अच्छा काम ही कर रहे हैं. हो सकता है वो गोबर खा रहे हों. यहाँ वही हुआ था. आप देशद्रोह कर रहे थे. शर्मिंदा होना चाहिए आप सबको.

आगे आप बोलते हैं कि सरकार आपकी अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता छीन रही है. और यही बात आपकी पूरी बिरादरी रात-दिन चिल्ला रही है. और क्या कहा जाय इस विडम्बना पर. जिस सरकार को हमने चुना है उसको ये जिम्मेदारी भी दी है कि जब देश की सुरक्षा पर खतरा हो तो दोषियों को रोके, दण्डित करे. सरकार वही कर रही है. आपको सुधरने का मौका दे रही है. ऐसा करना सरकार का कर्तव्य ही नहीं बाध्यता भी है. अगर वो ऐसा नहीं करेगी तो हम उससे सवाल करेंगे. करते भी हैं.
इस सवाल-जवाब वाली जनता को निपटाने का भी आपने वही लिबरल तरीका अपनाया है. जो आपको जवाब दे उसको आप ट्रोल बोल देते हैं. जो सवाल करे उसको आप “अब्यूजिव” करार देते हैं. कुछ लोग होते हैं हर जगह, कमजोर आत्म-नियंत्रण वाले जो आपकी हरकतों से तिलमिला कर गाली देने जैसा गिरा हुआ काम कर देते हैं और उस एक गाली की आड़ में आप सारे सवाल गायब कर देते हैं. गाली तो वैसे आप भी देते हैं, अपने इस चर्चित प्रोग्राम में आपने सवाल पूछने वाली जनता को “दंत चियार, दलाल, गुंडा” सब बोला है. एक दिन आप युवाओं के पलायन के मामले में बिहार और महाराष्ट्र की तुलना कर रहे थे. भयंकर आंकड़ों में भारी गलती थी आपके. मैंने इंगित करने की कोशिश की [Link]. आपने देखकर भी अनदेखा कर दिया.

उसके बाद आप रोज टीवी और ट्विटर पर आते रहे, कभी भी इसकी चर्चा नहीं की. कुछ दिन बाद किसी ने आपको “वैश्या का पुत्र” बोल दिया. निश्चय ही गलत और निंदनीय है ये. लेकिन आप अपनी प्राथमिकता देखिये. सज्जन पत्रकार को चाहिए कि राज्यों से पलायन के आंकड़ों को गंभीरता से ले, गालियों को अनसुना करे. आपने आंकड़ों को अनदेखा कर दिया और उस एक गाली को छाती से चिपकाए बैठे हैं. बैठे भी क्यों न? आखिर जब तर्क ख़तम हो जाते हैं तो वही गाली ढाल बनकर आपको बचाती है. आपने कम से कम 20 बार उस गाली का जिक्र किया है. एक बार तो पूरा ब्लॉग लिख दिए कि आपकी माँ वैश्या भी हों तो आपको समस्या नहीं, वैश्या होना गलत नहीं है. खैर वो आपकी निजी सोच और पारिवारिक मामला है. लेकिन ये जरूर है कि आपको सही आंकड़े देने वाले को आपने ब्लाक कर दिया और गाली देने वाले को नहीं किया. आपको अब भी लगता है कि आपकी नग्नता छिपी हुई है तो नमन आपकी बेशर्मी को.

पूरे एक घंटे आपने तमाशा किया और प्रोपगंडा करने की कोशिश करते रहे कि कैसे एक दोयम दर्जे के चैनल के 1 दिन के बैन को आपातकाल बना दिया जाए. एक बार फिर आपने तथ्यों और तर्कों को गायब किया, ड्रामा और तमाशा करते रहे. अपने विचारों को “अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता” और “माइम आर्ट” के लिबास से ढांपकर परोसते रहे. रवीश जी, कहीं कोई आपात काल नहीं आ रहा, जब हम 60 साल पुराने, दलालों से लैस, अनुभवी राजवंश को झटके में उखाड़ सकते हैं तो ये सरकार तो कुछ ही साल पुरानी है. अब तो हमारे पास सवाल पूछने का तरीका भी है. जिस दिन आपातकाल लाने के बारे में ये सरकार सोचेगी भी उस दिन आपके स्क्रीन काली करने से पहले हम इसको उखाड़ फेंक चुके होंगे.

अब भी वक़्त है रवीश जी. जगाइए अपने जमीर को, हटाइये इस पर पड़े परदे को. आपको जवाब देना पसंद नहीं, मत दीजिये, लेकिन सवाल तो पूछिए. हमसे अच्छे सवाल आपके होंगे. आप मार्गदर्शक बनिए. कुछ ऐसा कीजिये कि लोग भी कहें कि “बागों में बहार है, रवीश दलाल नहीं पत्रकार है.” और हाँ जिस दिन आप इस सवाल-जवाब वाली जनता को ट्रोल कहना बंद कर देंगे, वो आपको दलाल कहना बंद कर देगी.

Tyranny of Palace Intellectuals like P B Mehta

I could not understand whether to laugh or cry after reading this piece from Mr. P B Mehta.

The reason for my dismay is the trivialisation of discourse by these palace intellectuals. Having suffered the tyranny of palace intellectuals for long I decided to confront the tyranny. The insinuation and charges by Mr. Mehta demand a rebuttal as silence is no more an option.

First insinuation of Mr. Mehta as he puts is “… we are now moving towards an undeclared Emergency that seems equally insidious and far-reaching”.

This wisdom has now dawned on public intellectuals because of the fact that their unsubstantiated claims are now being contested. Common people are able to ask some tough questions, put forth their views. How this can be acceptable in democracy like India where only a certain set of people are allowed to enunciate their views. The facts are more often twisted to serve their masters. Any view contrary to the belief of this cosy club is either muffled or derided. If these things are changing now then there must be an Emergency. There is an emergency because for the first time the power is not being held by usual suspects.

The second charge is “Nationalism is used to stifle all thinking. The cultivation of collective narcissism to stifle all individuality, the promulgation of uncontested definitions of nationalism to pre-empt all debate over genuine national interest, the constant hunt for contrived enemies of the nation, is suffocating thought.”

This charge is very interesting. Just swap the words “Nationalism” with “Idea of India” and “national interest” with “palace interest” and you would find what all these intellectuals have been doing all these years. As the saying goes that “We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are.” These intellectuals have been suffocating thoughts of others and now are worried. You normally expect a pay back, don’t you? So this charge is paranoia at its best. Just see the hero quoted by Mr. Mehta is Hardik Patel. Oh my god, irony just died.

The third charge is “The effective way in which Indian civil society’s revolt against corruption has been neutralised and made invisible is astounding”.

This charge is at best a joke. Don’t we have the product of revolt as Delhi CM who spends most of the time in Punjab and Goa and remaining on streets? What else you want Mr. Mehta?

The pain of Mr. Mehta is far deeper and the same can be understood from the fact that even before this Government took charge the palace intellectuals were busy envisaging reasons to run downs its leaders. First the bogey of intolerance was invoked for award wapsi. This produced the desired results in Bihar elections. Now as UP elections are around the corner these palace intellectuals are once again in campaign mode and the theme has been decided as Emergency.

Make no mistake all these high octane activities are prelude to this campaign.

When terrorists beg for sympathy?

When 8 SIMI terrorists were gunned down by the MP police then the usual suspects – the liberal secularists – started shedding gallons of tears.

How can the police so cruelly kill the “innocent” terrorists? They asked. Don’t they have heart? Would they have not shown compassion towards them?

Wiping their tears they discussed with their secular friends that all the 8 activists (according to The Hindu) who had fled the jail at around 2:30 in the morning after murdering head constable Ramashankar Yadav by slitting his throat would have been hungry. So, as a secular country the government should have first arranged for their morning refreshment. But the communal Indian government and MP government decided to kill them. So horrible! So shameful! All the police personnel who were part of this operation should be immediately suspended, arrested and tried for murder.

These murderers never showed any sympathy while killing others and bombing innocent men, women and children but today their admirers in the media, in the political parties and the Human Rights Organizations are asking why sympathy was not shown to these dreaded terrorists. Whether they were killed in a fake encounter or not needs to be properly investigated first. But the left liberals have already declared that the encounter was fake. They had also previously declared Ishrat Jahan an innocent girl and the Batla House encounter as fake.

Criminals (and their admirers too) since eons have always sought sympathy and talk eloquently about righteousness as soon as they realize that they have been cornered and their end is near.

In Mahabharat we see how Karna upon facing inevitable death was talking about morality. But he had forgotten that he had willingly or unwillingly supported all the evil plans of Duryodhana. Duryodhana had tried to burn the Pandava brothers along with his old mother Kunti alive and later had tried to publicly shame Draupadi. Karna along with Duryodhana had also killed unarmed Abhimanyu mercilessly who was so young.

However this is not to suggest that Karna or Duryodhana were like these dreaded terrorists. These terrorists are zillions times worse than many despicable characters mentioned in Vedic books.

Whether the encounter was fake or real but one thing is sure that today billions of Indians are feeling relived after hearing the elimination of these terrorists. Only if the Indian judiciary would have been effective then there would have been no need of any encounter – fake or real. But our judiciary drags the case not for years but for decades.

And during these period the innocent men, women and children live in fear because no one knows when these enemies of humanity may break the jail, hijack the plane or bomb the train.

And the most disgusting part is that there powerful sympathizers are ever ready to come to defend them.

India boycotting Chinese goods: Doing more harm than good!

 

Anywhere you go in India nowadays, you will catch people vociferously chanting for boycotting Chinese goods in India. This is a common site in India in the aftermath of the vicious Uri attacks which took place in September. Actually India has alleged Pakistani army to feed terrorists in terms of training and ammunitions.

Now many people will end up thanking what China has to do with all this?

Actually China has been supporting Pakistan in terms of budget and weapons, moreover in the UN too China wielded its veto power to put stymies over India’s efforts in banning Masood Azhar, one of the most wanted terrorist for India and all over the world! This actually has outraged masses in India and suddenly a wave of patriotism has swayed. The so called “nation lovers” are appealing to the people all over India not to buy any Chinese product.

For any Indian, this should be a welcome step BUT we have to contemplate on the other face of coin too!

Its festive season in India with Diwali festival at the doorsteps, leading to a boom in the market. The market of idols, LED lights, firecrackers, electronics and many other commodities. All of these are actually imported from China at a mass level. The real picture is that Indian sellers have bought these commodities from China two-three months ago and now that China has been fully paid with the amount, Indians boycotting their goods will have no real impact on their GDP. But the issue is that it will have a resounding impact on Indian sellers and GDP of India.

Indians are in a wave of patriotism after the attacks and this wave has overtaken the real sense behind boycotting Chinese goods. Rather than afflicting Chinese GDP and economic growth it will have an adverse impact on Indian market and GDP.

One more issue with Indians is that they can’t buy the same commodity at higher prices than what they used to buy at comparatively very lower price. As the goods will be made in India, they will be costlier than Chinese goods as India still doesn’t have the required industrial advancement as does China.

So, instead of being blind patriots, Indians should keep calm and give a heeding on this face of coin too!
