Some major gaps in Islam

The issue of contradictions in Quran is not new. Following 9/11, there has been a big surge in the study of Islam by people, particularly non-Muslims, across the world. Many people have found out many contradictions in Quranic verses. At the core of Islam is Quran and contradictions in Quranic verses lead to the contradictions and confusions in the ideology of Islam. These Quranic contradictions (and erroneous contents) had been very aptly quoted and explained by Syed Kamran Mirza, a Bangladesh born US citizen, in his famous article published in 2008.

For non-Arabic speaking people, innumerable English translations of the Quran are available. But, the English translation of the Quran by A. Yusuf Ali of Lahore done in 1934 is accepted as most authentic even today in South Asia. However, Yusuf Ali also could not escape from the inherent weakness of using “Brackets” while making translations.

The contents of such brackets are not parts of Arabic Quranic verses and are used to complete the meanings of the verses, as thought by the translators. If one removes all the brackets, the meaning of many verses of Quran becomes ambiguous, undirected and confusing. Nowhere in Quran, it is written that Allah was sending his revelations to his messenger Muhammad through angle Jibril.

Before proceeding further, the fake Islamic claim of Islam is the religion of peace needs to be clarified. The first reference we have of this is probably in 1936, from the title of a small book The Religion of Peace written by a Delhi University Professor Ishtiaq Husain Qureshi. He, after Partition, migrated to Pakistan. The phrase was slow to take off.

But, by the 1970s it was appearing more and more frequently in the writings of Muslims for Western audiences. It was an effective proselytising slogan for marketing the faith, financed through petrodollars. Post 9/11, the phrase gained wide spread usage as western politicians, media and academia, as well as, Islamists across the world started peddling it vigorously.

However, Quran is silent about the peacefulness of Islam as an ideology and commandment from Allah. In Sahih Hadith also Muhammad had never told that Allah had ordained him to lead a peaceful life. On the contrary, Quran is full of dozens of violent and hate-filled verses against Kafir. But the Islamic apologists have cooked-up this lie by imposing the meaning of the Arabic word Salam on another Arabic word Islam.

The Arabic word Salam means “Peace” and it is used as a greeting, when a Muslim meets another Muslim. But the Arabic word Islam means “Submission” and this submission is only to the will of Allah. However, both the words Salam and Islam have come from same Arabic triliteral root S-L-M and Islamic apologists have used this confusion to their advantage. So, peace has nothing to do, even remotely, with Islam.

The other oft-repeated phrase “Terrorism has no religion” is also a propaganda of Left-Liberal-Woke-Islamist gang of the world to conceal Islamic terrorism across the globe. Islamic terrorism has become commonplace after 1972 Munich Summer Olympic games. The word ‘Religion’, being an ‘abstract noun’, is used by the Islamic apologists as an ‘adjective’ for another noun ‘Terrorism’ to peddle “Terrorism has no religion”. But terrorists do have religions and about 85 percent of terrorist incidences in the world is done by the Muslims in the name of Islam, Allah and Muhammad.

The whole ideology of Islam is based on the main tripod of The Man (Muhammad), The Place (Mecca) and The Book (Quran). Other important supports of Islam are Sahih HadeethSirat and TafsirSahih Hadeeth are later supplementations, quoting the sayings and doings of Muhammad.

The biography of Muhammad is called Sirat, and Tafsir explains Quranic verses with reference to the context. All the Sahih HadithSirat and Tafsir were written/compiled, at least 200 years or more after the death of Muhammad, by the Islamic scholars far away from Mecca and Medina and have no divine link like Quran.

The word ‘Muhammad’ literally means The Praised One. About Muhammad, we know that he was born in Mecca in AD 570, received first revelation from Allah in AD 610 and started preaching Islam in Mecca without much success, made nocturnal journey to Jannat on Buraq to meet Allah in AD 621, migrated to Medina (Hijrat) in AD 622, conquered Mecca in AD 629 and died in Medina in AD 632 due to poisoning. We come to know about Muhammad’s life for the first time in Sirat written by Ibn Hisham about 200 years after Muhammad’s death in Cairo.

There was no contemporary reference of Muhammad during his lifetime or within 50 years of his death. The reference of Muhammad inscribed on the Dome of Rock in Jerusalem, done by the Umayyad Caliph Abd al-Malik in AD 692, did not specify it as the prophet of Islam. It could be Abd al-Malik himself as The Praised One. There is also no proof to establish that Umayyad dynasty practiced Islam (as we know it today). These facts have made the historical Muhammad very doubtful.

Mecca is claimed by the Muslims as the oldest city on earth which was established by Adam. Muslims also claim that Kaba in Mecca was constructed by Abraham and his son Ishmael. But extensive excavation during the past three four decades, for construction of dozens of skyscrapers in Mecca, could not find any archaeological evidence to call Mecca a pre-historic or ancient settlement.

Besides, the description of Mecca in Standard Islamic Narrative (SIN) with springs, green valley, trees and grape vineyard is total mismatch. The hills of Safa and Marwa in Mecca are mere two big stones. Mecca was never any centre in the trade route even. It has been a desert area unfit for large human habitation. The description of Mecca fits more with Petra, situated more than a thousand kilometre North-West of Mecca in present-day Jordan. So, when and how Mecca became the centre of Islamic faith is intriguing.

As per SIN, verses of Quran were revealed verbally over a period of 22 years in piecemeal manner from Allah to Muhammad through angel Jibril till Muhammad’s death. Muhammad, in his life time, repeated those verses to Sahaba for memorization. But, many of those Sahaba died in the battles they fought for spreading Islam under Muhammad and many verses in their memory were lost. Some Sahaba also kept verses by writing those on bones, stones and parchments.

Besides, one Zayd bin Thabit also acted as the main scribe of Muhammad in recording verses of Quran. SIN also mentions that Quranic verses were kept with Hafsa, Muhammad’s wife and daughter of second Caliph Umar. It was Umar who, after the death of Muhammad, urged upon Abu Bakr, the first Caliph, to compile Quran in book form.

So, during the lifetime of Muhammad, Quran was not compiled and had no chronology or chapters too. After the death of Muhammad, the first Caliph Abu Bakr compiled Quran as a book, but no such book could be found anywhere later. Then third Caliph Uthman said to have collected all Quranic materials, which were preserved with many believers and compile those into a book-form around AD 652.

Uthman, thereafter, destroyed all the original Quranic materials he collected. That was a very strange act on the part of Uthman. However, despite such strong claim in SIN, no such Uthman Quran was found anywhere. Thus, in-corruptibility and unchangeability of verses of Quran remain very contentious issue even today.

The present Quran, we have, was canonised in AD 1924 at Cairo.  It will be interesting to know what was the situation of the Quran before 1924 across the Muslim world. On the other hand, if one reads Quran carefully, he will find that Muhammad spent a very disturbed and violent life. Disbelievers, hypocrites, polytheists-idolaters, Kafir, apostates, blasphemers, munafiq, mushrik, mockers, critics, and ridiculers, call them by any name, did challenged Muhammad throughout his prophetic life. He had to fight with them every moment to establish him as prophet. He could never win over them intellectually and spiritually. As per SIN, Muhammad died of consumption of poisoned meat, which was given by a Jewish woman.

There is a big question mark also about the Quran being the revelation from omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient Allah. Quran verse 10:99 reveals “Had your Lord so willed, all those who are on the earth would have believed. Will you, then, force people into believing?” The Tafsir of this verse guarantees the freedom that Allah has granted to humans to believe or not to believe in Him.

But in another verse of the Quran (9:5), Allah has ordained “And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. With such contradictory verses, Quran becomes a book of confusion.

Islam is all about ‘we’ versus ‘they’, that is, Momin versus Kafir. In dozens of Quranic verses, Allah, out of utter frustration, uses choicest abusive words for Kafir like assess, dogs, cattle, dumb, filthy, liars, degraded and vilest of animals etc. Islamic Allah also hates them, disgraces them, destroys them, curses them and tortures them. Allah has demanded that Muslims should be up and doing (Jihad) till the day of Keyamat to convert or kill all the Kafir. Islam’s Allah is a fearful entity like an ogre.

Allah has not stopped by revealing a chapter in Quran titling it Al Kafirun, He has also delivered another chapter in Quran called The Spoils of the War. The teaching of Islam revolves around fear Allah, praise Allah, prostrate before Allah and follow the violent life of a desert pirate with an imperialistic intent to spread Islam by defeating, converting or killing Kafir.

Islam, since inception, has been suffering from “I am OK, you are not OK” syndrome and also preaching and practicing Jihad to implement the core Islamic teaching: “It is my way that you have to accept or perish”.

Islam annuls this worldly life as useless and false. As per Islam, actual life begins after death. So, the main objects of Muslims are to praise Allah and spread Islam, even violently, in this life. Thus, Islam is full of innumerable historical and moral gaps. Truly speaking, Islam is a violent politico-imperialistic cult in the guise of a religion.
