Prime Minister welcoming Crown Prince is a good gesture

0

PM’s personal welcome of Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia is a good gesture. Many journalists of the print and electronic media and almost all the opposition parties were outraged at Prime Minister Modi personally welcoming (at the airport) Saudi Arabia’s crown prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) on his arrival (by breaking the protocol) and hugging him. When Indian tourism’s motto is: Athidhi Devo Bhava (a guest should be treated as god), where is the question of not following the norm by the prime minister? Moreover, the guest is from an oil-rich country and that country is an abode of two important shrines of Muslims: the Mecca and Medina. Prime minister’s reception with a huge hug resulted instantly in the increase of Haj quota of India to 2 lakhs. The Muslim brothers of India should take note of this achievement.

Since, Pakistan is a big beneficiary of Saudi Arabia and of the present prince MBS, India cannot afford to cold-shoulder the crown prince as India needs economic partnership with Saudi Arabia. It takes time to expose Pakistan to the world nations. Anyway, now, Iran though an Islamic country, has realised what Pakistan is, with Pak-sponsored terror attack on its soil recently killing many soldiers.

It goes without saying that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have bonhomie. Prince MBS literally bailed Pakistan out from that country’s economic crisis by investing $20 billion. The bond of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan is so strong religiously and otherwise. However, India by being friendly to Saudi may reap larger gains later.

Of late, the opposition parties have no issues to bait the BJP with. The Congress spokespersons making a big hullabaloo about the prince not mentioning the Pulwama terror act (or not condemning it) or not mentioning Pakistan’s role etc., was only for public consumption. They merely wanted to play on the sentiments of people by highlighting them. Of course, the Pulwama massacre of 48 Indian soldiers enraged everyone. People are not still able to grapple with it and have not come to terms with the reality. However, the incident has drawn their wrath against Pakistan rather than against the ruling. The supposition of security lapse could be attributed to the anomalous nature of the incident which had never been anticipated. The prime minister has condemned the incident in no uncertain terms and has given full freedom to the army to avenge the ghastly act at their (army’s) choosing of time and place.

Coming to Saudi Crown Prince (MBS) not condemning the terror act that was gruesome and had happened just before him stepping on the land of India, is somewhat not palatable to many. In any case, Saudi Arabia and the present crown prince are not seeped much deep into Kashmir valley’s problems to make a comment upon. The prince himself is facing the ire of the international community for the assassination of Jamal Khashoggi, the Saudi- journalist and a citizen of USA.

It is said that Jamal Khashoggi was a bitter critic of the crown prince and was brutally murdered a few months ago in Saudi embassy of Turkey. That made a big stir in the international community. The USA and the UK and other European countries that make a tall talk about the human rights and their violations could do not take any tangible action against Saudi Arabia or its crown prince on Khashoggi’s ghastly murder. Though Khashoggi was a citizen of USA, that country ignored the fact to befriend Saudi Arabia, a much loved- ally of that country for a long time.

The whole point is, world countries go by their interests. They keep aside their objectives that are dear to them like human rights for want their friendship with Saudi Arabia. In that scenario, why cannot India please the beleaguered (because of world super powers blaming him for the journalist’s murder) crown prince. By welcoming the crown prince warmly, India could get Saudi Commission for tourism, India’s National Heritage to promote tourism, Exchange of audio visual programmes of Prasar Bharati and Saudi Broadcasting Corporation and many other benefits. So, the PM took a correct step for the development of the country.

India’s forced identity crisis

0

Recently, my family and I happened to visit South Bombay’s Leopold Cafe, famously known for the infamous and cowardly attack of 26/11. We had earlier while shopping seen a platoon of foreigners, (nationality unidentifiable) shooting around the same place, Colaba Causeway. While we were leaving the Cafe, they were entering. Being a big group they almost occupied the entire passage to the common entry/exit. My sister hand-gestured a woman to move aside, in whose reply the woman made a sharp reply exclaiming, “Relax!” and gave a disgusted look. Though outraged, we quietly moved out, in order to avoid chaos.

It was then when I realised that foreigners still look upon us with contempt and with a sense of domination. After all, India is a sovereign, socialist, secular, republic! India is independent! Indeed it is, but just for the namesake. The English theory of “Dogs and Indians not allowed”, still thrives outside India. An entire nexus stands out there, tall and hefty, determined to bend us. But, the question is, are we ready to bow?

After the British left, they left us in a state of total disarray, disrooted our glorious past, buried our heritage, history and literature, burnt our spirits, and threw us into the hands of cold death after ravaging our economy. These are the superficial colonial crimes they committed, the actual crimes are actually gruesome and chilling. They did not stop after plundering, looting, and committing genocides, they went on to distort India’s history to fit it into their narrative, and leave behind a trail of false theories, which today are widely accepted as our “Truth” and “History”.

Today the Indian youth doesn’t know their own past, perhaps the sense of being identityless doesn’t haunt them as it does me. We don’t know the answer to the simplest of questions: “Who am I”. That is because no one ever taught us, and the ones who tried were labelled with various offensives. From outside India appears to be a diverse country with multiculturalism at its maximum, but from within, we are hollow. No, we are not, rather we are forced to see it that way. If we identify ourselves as something, there are communities that get offended. No one is able to reach a conclusion where every Indian has a place.

Yes, it is true that the most glorious time of India was under the Hindu Empires, but this is unacceptable to some. Though distortioners have tried their best to portray them in a bad light, they have not been successful. Numerous attempts were made to glorify the Mughals, by nicknaming each one of the six major emperors and singing their praises in history textbooks and demonise Hindus. The reverse tough existant was minuscule in proportion to the former. Yet, India remembers some of the truth even after the huge scale propaganda, thanks to its practice of passing knowledge verbally.

Even after all these, I have confidence in my Bharat, that it will rise to all the challenges and prosper once again. What I still doubt is, will we ever know who we are?

A reply to the AMAN KI AASHA flagbearers

Yes, war is evitable, yes war is dangerous, yes war takes lives, yes war is a disaster.

To say “Let’s talk peace”, is far easy than actually doing so, because while we talk peace, perpetrators of terror, stand with a gun pointed at our heart, and pretend as if they are listening, but are actually loading their weapons. War is useless and catastrophic. If an issue can be solved without co-ordinating to the war axis, it is the best. But when India and Pakistan are on two axes, the war axis cannot be ignored. The way the “Peace Gang” has been advocating peace, it seems that India has always initiated wars, and Pakistan has accepted defeat just to stop the bloodshed.

But, do we not know how many times we have shouted peace to our hostile neighbours? Do we not know how each time they responded to our peace by 26/11, ceasefire violations, Pathankot, Uri and lately Pulwama? If being the flag bearers of peace gives our neighbours the impression of India being weak and puny, should we not bother to teach them a lesson? Yes, we will send them the message of peace, but this time, it’ll be wrapped in a bullet, and delivered straight to their hearts.

I read a recent article written by the wife of a soldier who said war is of no use. I couldn’t agree more. Even the soldiers at the border want peace, they don’t want to kill or get killed. But when the enemy doesn’t want to give peace, what option do we have but to snatch it away? After the 14th February Pulwama attack, many have come out saying we don’t want revenge, rather we want peace. Yes, we all want peace, since 1947. Did we get peace even after giving away Pakistan PoK? No, we didn’t and we won’t until we show Pakistanis and their terrorists, where they belong to and that is under the boot of our soldiers.

Chanakya said that once an enemy, forever an enemy. This will eternally hold true for Pakistan. The fact is they hate peace and look for opportunities to dismantle peace, anywhere it exists. But the saddening facet of all these discussions on Pulwama is that liberal Indians have constantly demoralised the forces, by reminding them of the uselessness of war. They have seen their own die in front of their eyes, just because, they were protecting “Peace” at the borders. They are the ultimate human beings, as they have voluntarily signed a contract that says they may die any moment in service of the nation. They are strong and brave to accept a soldier’s life, the contour of which is most unpredictable. It is cowards like us, whose freedom they are upholding and using that freedom to demoralise the forces by asking them not to ask for revenge for their martyred brothers, is selfish and inconsiderate. Don’t we have the tiniest trust on the ability of our forces to decimate the enemy?

We as Indians, have garnered an image of inaction over the years. We have witnessed how the defence forces were denied to avenge 26/11. We can’t let the same happen again for Pulwama. As Indians, it is our duty to keep the morale high of those people who have time and again repaid the debt of all Indians to the motherland, while we filled our pockets and secured our future. This selfishness must end. If you have an army man in your family, please don’t demoralize them by reminding them of the futility of war, by asking them to not go for their duty.

They make the ultimate sacrifice for a country’s future and we have no rights to ask them to not do what they feel deems fit for the situation. I would salute those mothers who send their second child to join the forces after the death of the first. It is time we set them free to seek revenge, whichever way they feel is right. Remember, the next time you say to personnel that war is futile and useless, you may be right, but you have let down a hero. Let’s stand by our forces at this hour and not tie them to the fetters of inaction, rather let’s set them free to do whatever they wish to, with setting any regulations.

Lastly, let’s remember that sometimes we have to fight for small things like peace, just the way we did for independence in the past.

“For I’m here for my mother,                                                                                                                              To protect her like an armour,                                                                                                                        To pay back her eternal debt,                                                                                                                        To safeguard all her children from any military threat”

The Chameleon Association protested in front of Kejriwal’s house for taking away their talent

0

The Chameleon Association (TCA) protested in front of Delhi’s CM Arvind Kejriwal’s house for taking away the limelight from them. The president of Chameleon Association said, “Its unfortunate that the respected CM is doing this. Our only talent is that we are known for changing colors according to the situation but Mr Kejriwal is taking away that tag from us. The way he has taken U-turns, humans have now started calling him a Chameleon and some even say that he changes color better than us.”

TCA President added, “We feel that this is totally unfair. Our community is feeling really low and in our forest the other animals have started making fun of us. We request Mr Kejriwal to atleast give credit to us before changing colors so that humans will not forget us and our talent.”

Sources say that Chameleons are disappointed on Kejriwal’s recent activities like sharing stages with people who were called corrupt by him and his political friends.

However some reports have also claimed that when Mr Kejriwal was honored as Order of Vulture
award, the members of Chameleons Association had expressed their regards towards Mr Kejriwal.

But it seems that now Chameleons are not happy with the behavior of Mr Kejriwal.

Although Mr Kejriwal or his close associates have not responded but inside sources from AAP says that they are planning to paint Chameleons as agents of BJP.

Lets see what happens in this controversy. Till then keep changing colors and keep taking U-turns.

Damned if he does: Damned if he does not

Compared to Pulwama, Uri was child’s play. Decisive surgical strikes accomplished by Modi administration, giving a go by to past restrained/resilient practices seems so distant and a no brainier. Pulwama pales in comparison. Modi administration is on its last leg. He has portrayed himself to be a strong leader and that 56’ boast had its say in the voters’ preference in 2014. He mocked at the pusillanimity of the UPA regime in ‘talking and talking’. 2019 was sewn up for good even 6 months previously. Now it is not. Modi has a fight on his hands. The barbs and exchanges between his government and the opposition discloses the visceral divide. Mahagatbhandhan is not an elusive beast. It is in the realm of reality with Akhilesh Yadav of SP and Mayawati of BSP agreeing to put up a joint front in UP. The handholding exercise by opposition leaders Pan India is not mere optics anymore.

The international world order has pivoted beyond recognition. Leader of the Free World Donald J Trump has indulged in isolationism with an America First cry. He has pulled US out of Paris Climate Accord, NAFTA agreement. Iran Nuclear Deal, the Disarmament variant with Vladimir Putin’s Russia, executive orders to pull out of Syria and Afghanistan are in the works and in action, and most importantly Trump is desperate to pull out of NATO, which would be a huge blow, an institution standing firm after WWII.

Russia has serious economic problems on its lap. It is struggling to keep its citizens comfortable. Putin may have Trump dancing to his tunes but he surely is not the leader that a Czar of Soviet Union was. Europe has its cup of woes. Teresa May is deep in Brexit imbroglio. A hard Brexit is on the anvil and Britain itself is looking for support. Germany’s Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron of France are beleaguered with local convulsions on the immigration and economic fronts. Bibi Nethanyahu, Israel, now a good trustworthy friend of India, is facing elections.

That leaves China, seemingly quiet and firm on its growth path. No, not true. For the first time in over two decades its rate of growth is stressed and the Trade Deal woes with US are real. US companies like Apple have shown depleting returns in China and that impacts Chinese employment. And lack of freedom for its citizens has been a continuous pimple requiring close attention lest it breaks out to scar its face.

It is in such a scenario that Modi is required to take a call on Pulwama. Damned, if he does. Damned, if he dare not. No matter whichever way he goes, it would be a hot button issue during 2019 elections. The opposition would be unwilling to spare him for any slip up. They cannot, let’s accept.

“Nation’s Blood is boiling”- anguished Prime Minister Modi. Very true. We have too many caskets of our soldiers from the borders, not to forget 26/11 Mumbai Massacre, which remains unanswered. We have lost count. They have become numbers to mourn, candle vigils and strong resolutions and letters to the editors’. We are tired. They say, We are resilient, whoever ‘they’ is. Resilience, my foot. It has meant little to the sorrowing families and the nation.

Pakistan is a rogue nation. It is a terrorist State. Period. Pakistan will never reconcile itself to India and its growing presence in the world order. No matter we may be cussed among ourselves, our advance in every field is there for all to see. Yes, we deserved to be in a better station in our march over time. China has galloped while the elephant is stuttering. Yet Pakistan cannot digest our status. And China which views India as a ‘competitor’ as China Times recently worried, despite the fact Ruchir Sharma would say, “We are nowhere near competing but even the fact that we are in the race far behind irks China no end’. They would like us to fall off the radar. The rogue status of Pakistan is a welcome tool for China and they will exploit it as well as they can.

China has been a protector of Pak’s interest in the UN. Security Council Veto from China is a given, no matter our diplomatic efforts are strong, stubborn and persuasive. The other permanent members are in no state to come to our aid as yet, to isolate Pakistan with severe sanctions they deserve. Withdrawal of $2 Billion Most Favoured Nation status by India would be pocket money restored by China. Yes, we need to move the diplomacy rope with all our might. But that would be a total waste unless we take India’s Destiny in our own hands and deal with Pakistan directly.

For too long Pakistan has been proclaiming its nuclear hand would be a sure deterrent. Yes, India has taken No First Use line. It may lead to a conflagration and India would be unwilling. Yet, the time is now to call the bluff. Time for talk shall cease. We need to act. True, unlike Uri surprise, this time Pakistan would be ready and possibly well prepared and surgical strikes may be thwarted or there may be casualties on our side. And as Genl. Montgomery put it “ Underestimate even your weakest foe at your own peril’. We cannot afford to do that.

But Modi needs to know that India is ready. We the People have for too long been patient and resilient. At what cost to Mother India’s sons. The sacrifices have gone on long enough. We are ready for the supreme sacrifice now. The people. Not soldiers alone. Pakistani bluff needs to be called off and quick.

India may need to target the ‘terrorist camps’ which the world knows exists inside Pakistan. They are documented not in Intelligence Reports but in academic works. Or their intelligence units or nuclear establishments. The choice must be that of the forces, with the civilian government and We The People solidly behind. The words of US Secretary of State, Pompeo is encouraging. He has said “India deserves a break and we stand by them in this hour of crisis’.

We are ready. We can choose our time and place. But it would not be secret today for India Today is eager to ‘retaliate’ not ‘start’ the combat. Therein lays the truth of it all. We are paying back Pakistan in their own language. The only language a rogue nation understands. Pakistan is vulnerable. They have a wobbly and ill settled Imran Khan as the civilian head. Real power resides in the Army blinded by animosity to India’s well being. Pakistan faces pressure from all its borders and it will face a logistics nightmare and China for all its bombastic terminology is unlikely to intervene physically.

We therefore need to identify our target. The terrorists and their handlers. Plan and wound them double quick beyond repair. The world would be happy. Even the Islamic friends in Saudi Arabia and Arab Nations with their Wahabi hue causing them harm, are unlikely to go beyond word support.

We can trust our loyal soldiers and military might to deliver it. The terrorists need to be neutralised. Yes, there could be collateral damage. We may face retaliation as Pakistan may not take it lying down. But the world will not watch then. They would surely restrain the Pakis for they were the instigators and for how long. Yet, We The People must be ready. We shall Overcome.

Pakistan, no matter how rougish they are, is unlikely to press the Nuke button. They know and should know that there will no Pakistan, were that to happen. India will continue to exist even if a Hiroshima or Nagasaki take place, for we are a continent. God forbid.

The message we need to carry in our bosom and express it too is We The People are Ready. Words mean nothing. Easy to express. The ones who would face the moments of madness will not be us in the South. But we need to stand up. Our moral conviction and support system would mean a lot. Ought to.

Let us forget the elections. They come and go. India goes on forever. But body bags cannot keep coming. We are disgusted with the count. No more room for debates, discussions and conferences. Time for decisive action. We must stand united. No dissenting voices of any kind. We owe it to the brothers and sisters who have sacrificed their all at the borders. We owe it to Bharat Mata. She cannot keep losing her loving sons and daughters for no fault of ours except as a fact of history and geography.

This is not time for jingoistic calls. Agreed. Equally not time to be calm and resilient to indulge in Aman ki Ashas. It is time for ‘action’. Let us leave it to the armed forces to decide. And for the civilian Government to yield. Let us solidly stand behind them and support. Give them our all as they are giving their all for us. Least we can do is to pray and hope. We Shall Overcome. Jai Hind.

Pause o, the SM warriors

0

Even as the Nation mourns the sacrifice of the 44 Braves of the CRPF in the dastardly Fidayeen attack carried out by a local Kashmiri youth Adil Dar, the anger, the rage and the frustration arising out of this situation is assuming dangerous proportions. The emotional outburst is understandable, this is not the first one and if the Nation doesn’t draw Red Lines, this will not be the last either.

The intemperate cries for revenge, complete destruction of Pakistan, the clamour for nothing short of War and similar demands, overladen by emotions make a heady mix. The nonstop coverage of the last rites of the the Braves by the Channels have also contributed to the raging protests around the country. All this is a natural reaction to the suicide attack, however, it is the Social Media which has exploded!

We have the multitude baying for blood, calling upon the Armed Forces to annihilate the Pakistanis, we have other set calling upon the political rulers to declare War, let loose the might of the State to bleed Pakistan, bleed Islamic forces in Kashmir, repeal Art370, 35A, so on and so forth.
The emotions, of course are on par with the ghastly attack on the CRPF convoy, but do these Warriors realise that even as they numb their fingers on the keyboard, the War count continues unabated. Two days later, Major Chitresh Bisht lays down his life in service of the Nation while clearing the IEDs in Kashmir, and as I write this on 18 February, four Army soldiers are martyred in Pulwama in an encounter against the perpetrators of the ghastly Pulwama Suicide Attack. The perpetrators are killed, but at what cost ?

The bodies count in the suicide attack is now 49, with five more succumbing to injuries and the four who laid down their lives to avenge their brothers in arms. It’s nobody’s case that the perpetrators and their Masters sitting in Pakistan should be allowed to carry out such brazen attacks with impunity but,

Do people on the Social Media know the costs of an all out War with Pakistan?

Are you ready for the casualties which may occur due to an all out War?

Do our Keyboard Warriors have any idea how a War is made?

I use the word ‘made’ with emphasis on the construction of a War, it is not some video game where you sitting on a Keyboard or a console can wipe out the adversary and with no repercussions to you or the country.

It’s not the Economic Cost of War which I speak of, it’s the Human Cost which is in question here. A nation cannot just push an entire generation into the whirlpools of death to satisfy the primeval urge of Man, Revenge. And, revenge at what cost?

A nation which has failed to expostulate a National Security Doctrine in 70 years of its existence, a country which has not been able to define the Red Lines whose violation will be assumed to be an Act Of War cannot be expected to act in any decisive manner whatsoever.

We have faced an asymmetrical war since Punjab erupted in early 80s to this more vicious militancy which has its ideological moorings in the International Jihad in Kashmir since late 80s. Interestingly, both these militancies have their origins in the Religio-Politico issues. The Punjab or the Khalistani militancy died its own death as it failed to create the kind of communal divide which Pakistan hopes to achieve but in Kashmir, Pakistan has been far more successful. Pakistan since independence has coveted Kashmir as its own for the simple reason that it has Muslim majority, notwithstanding the fact that major part of the erstwhile State Of J&K had both Hindus and Buddhists in geographically distinct regions.

Social Media at times like this becomes a fiend which feeds off your rage and produces rabid individuals who have absolutely no idea of how a reponse to such adversities is framed. Blood lust clouds the outraged mind, sanity takes leave and we are encumbered by lunacy. Take a break O mighty warriors else the keyboards will run threadbare.

Congress Mukt Bharat: Just a political slogan, or necessity for India?

0

It all started towards the end of 2013, when Narendra Modi-then CM of Gujarat was declared as the Prime Ministerial candidate for BJP. Modi addressed more than 300 rallies to spearhead BJP to a remarkable tally of 282 seats in Lok Sabha 2014 elections- unprecedented for any Non Congress party to achieve that feat. Along with talks of corruption during UPA rule and the promise of development the common point in most, if not all of his 300 plus rallies was a call for ‘Congress Mukt Bharat’ (Congress free India).

Later in his interview to Arnab Goswami, just a few days before the results were announced, Modi once again emphasised the need for ‘Congress Mukt Bharat’ by specifying how Congress’s approach towards governance had hamstrung India’s ambitions.

May 2014, Congress was voted out of power at the centre and lost one state after another in the years that followed, compounded by the fact that public memory is short, many might’ve got deluded into believing that Congress has changed. But with victory 3 state elections at the end of last year, the real face of politics characterized by Congress since independence manifested itself yet again.

Now, perhaps the time is ripe to examine ‘Congress Mukt Bharat’ and see whether it is just a political slogan or is Congress really an impediment to India’s journey towards becoming a superpower. For that we have to carefully examine what Congress embodies.

  1. Corruption

Since Independence, Congress party has been involved in one scam after another right from INA treasure scandal and Jeep scam immediately after independence to as recent as Commonwealth Games, 2G Spectrum and Coal block allocation scams. Congress was voted out of power in 2014, but skeletons of scams done during their rule still keep tumbling out every now and then, be it Augusta Westland VVIP chopper or Air India Aircraft procurement scam. With years the only thing which has changed about Congress is the magnitude and brazenness of doing scams.

  1. Feudal mindset with little room for Meritocracy

Congress Party is like a poorly managed family run business, where sycophancy triumphs performance and credentials. In such systems only cronies with close proximity to the family prosper. The famous dialogue from the film Indu Sarkaar Aur Tum Log Zindagi bhar Maa Bete Ki Gulaami Karte Rahoge’ (And you’ll keep prostrating in front of Mother-Son forever for crumbs) sums up Congress culture completely. While it’s their internal matter, it becomes problematic when the same continues in determining their choice of candidates to lead. The representatives chosen are naturally expected to be more loyal to family than to the nation. Look at the conduct of former PM Manmohan Singh and former President Pratibha Patil for example.

When shady land deals done by firms with holdings of Robert Vadra (Sonia Gandhi’s Son in Law), were brought under scrutiny in 2013, Foreign Affairs Minister of that time Salman Khurshid came to his defence by saying “Main Sonia Ji ke liye apni jaan bhi de sakta hoon” (I can give my life for Sonia Gandhi), sad that a minister who had taken oath to serve India’s interest alluded that his party president was bigger than the country.

To anyone who thinks that problem with Congress is only due to people heading the party and not with the mindset, I would advise a quick check, just see the behaviour of Himanta Biswa Sarma when he was with Congress and now when he is in BJP and same way check it for Navjot Singh Sidhu before and after joining Congress and the difference would be evident. The problem lies well beyond the leadership, it impacts the entire rank and file.

  1. Attitude that India is their fiefdom

Naming national assets and prominent government schemes after the members of the family, showering themselves with the highest civilian honour, are all symptoms of megalomania-a disorder dictators and monarchs suffer from. Whenever Congress is in the power, this attitude determines the way they govern. Development of Infrastructure for benefit of public, encouragement to entrepreneurship and empowerment of people are rarely focused on and on the contrary culture of freebies is promoted to keep ‘subjects’ forever depend on crumbs thrown at them by powers that be, in return of re-electing them to carry out loot even more shamelessly. Nothing else explains why more than half of Indian population didn’t have bank accounts or access to toilets until Modi government worked on a mission mode to deliver on something that’s most basic and shouldn’t have remain unaddressed.

  1. Family & Party first, National Interests secondary, National Security last

Before Congress supporters jump on me saying ‘Congress got India Independence’. Here’s a refresher for them, Congress before independence was a less of a political outfit and more of a freedom movement, where people from all walks of life participated. Closer to independence it began mutating into an organisation run by self-obsessed, opportunists for power and authority, after mysterious death of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri in Tashkent , the transformation was complete.

We’ve seen similar regression very recently, when India against Corruption (IAC) movement where people from all walks of life came forward to free India from corruption, culminated into formation of political party AAP-which has all the attributes that IAC movement sought to change.

So the argument that Congress brought India freedom is as bogus as saying that AAP led anti-corruption movement.

History is replete with examples of how Congress never cared for India, for them India was/is only a territory to be milked for personal gain, following are few examples to explain better.

-How can we forget the ignominy India suffered at the hands of China in 1962, all because of defence unpreparedness under Nehru Government. India lost Aksai Chin to China and PM Nehru in his parliament address downplayed the loss by saying ‘Not even a blade of grass grows there’.

-Congress power play in Kerala led to sabotage of India’s cryogenic program by framing and destroying lives of eminent ISRO scientists like Nambi Narayanan.

-What explains the mysterious deaths of several Indian scientists involved in nuclear research projects during Congress led UPA’s 10 year rule and contrast that with no such casualties when BJP came to power?

-In 2013 Congress with the help of it’s pliant media concocted a fake story of possible Army Coup to impact the credibility and morale of men in uniform? Which ruling party anywhere in the world has ever done that?

-Congress led UPA didn’t finalize the deal for procurement of Rafale fighter jets during their 10 year rule while squadron strength of Air force fighter planes kept depleting and as many as 62 pilots died during UPA rule flying age old MiGs and and Sukhoi planes, who is to be blamed for those deaths? As if to add an insult to injury, former Congress defence minister AK Anthony shamelessly told parliament that they didn’t have money to buy Rafale in 2013, then it remains to be asked what was the urgency for the same government to buy exorbitant VVIP Augusta Choppers 3 years earlier?

Today when Modi government has finalised the deal for Rafale jets and part deliveries will be made this year, even in the opposition Congress is trying every trick in the book to stall the deal, only a party with little concern of National security would ever take such a stand.

  1. Grab and stay in power at any cost

Former PM AB Vajpayee once quoted “Congress without power is like fish without water”.  They will stoop to any level , resort to anything possible to grab power. Today to beat BJP, they have openly allied with separatists, backed urban naxals, created regional, caste based riots and even tried to divide Hindus further by proposing a separate religion for Lingayats, all for their vote bank politics. Congress batted against eviction of illegal Bangladeshis and Rohingyas knowing fully well the threat they pose to national security and the burden they add on our limited resources.

Rahul Gandhi surreptitiously met Chinese delegates at the height of Indian Army and PLA standoff over Doklam, Manishanker Aiyar went to Pakistan and called for their help in removing PM Modi.

It is perfectly fair for the party in opposition to criticise government policies, but to take open or tacit support from the enemies of state to remove the government is completely unthinkable.

  1. Condescending attitude towards Indians

In 2009 when newly elected Congress MP Shashi Tharoor described the travelers of economy class as ‘Cattle Class’ it wasn’t just a casual remark, but a reflection of disdain Congress has towards Indians.

Right from Nehru rule, it became a norm to portray India as land of poor, destitute millions living in abject poverty. Through education system anything and everything Indian was made to look bad and inferior and as a consequence generations of Indians grew lacking confidence and self-respect, seeking western approval on everything. While West acknowledged and learnt from Indian history and heritage, we were made to look down upon it, be it Yoga or Sanskrit.

This attitude continues till date, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi went to UP and Bihar calling local youths “unemployed who go to other states to beg”. Never applauded the valour of Indian army even questioned the Surgical Strike, it took PM Modi to visit France and pay homage to Indian soldiers who had died in World War 1. Congress looked down upon ancient Indian practices like Yoga, so much so that when UN Declared Yoga day on recommendation of PM Modi, Congress downplayed the significance. Even opposition of Congress to Bullet Train stems from the same mentality (how can Indians have access to high speed world class systems, when there is rampant poverty). How millions of Indians are poor even after 60 years of Congress rule, is something Congress would never answer.

PS- Congress rule of almost 60 years has been more or less an extension of colonial rule of India. Indian interests were always short changed for pursuit of power.

Now, it is incumbent upon voters to make sure that Congress mindset is decimated in 2019, so that we see a better political system emerging where political parties compete to take India further. India will not become a developed country, until Congress is made redundant.

Take courage in both hands and abolish Article 370

The terror attack on CRPF convoy at Pulwama has evoked tremendous shock and anger in India. Demands have been raised by sections in public that India ought to declare war against Pakistan or at the least a second surgical strike be carried out immediately.

The feelings and urgency expressed in these demands are understandable. It however betrays lack of understanding of the Kashmir situation, which in turn has been inextricably interwoven with a series of policy blunders commencing from the time India took up the issue at UNSC in 1948 though she could at that time potentially liberate the whole of the princely state of Kashmir.

All of us need to understand that a disguised war is already going on in J&K, particularly in the Valley. Pakistan is conducting this war by using its ‘fifth column’ in India against the Indian state and the Indian army., while it keeps its own army intact. Hundreds of soldiers and several misguided civilians acting as terrorists have lost lives in this ongoing conflict. It suits Pakistan’s professed policy of inflicting a thousand cuts and bleed the Indian state with the least cost to itself. Its fifth columnists are working in India at four tiers – terrorists at the front, ideologues of separatism above them, sections of politicians playing the role of double agents, and a tribe of vocal intellectuals justifying terrorist action in the name of alienation and finding common cause with the deceitful politicians and ideologues of the separatists.

MODUS OPERANDI OF THE CLANDESTINE WAR

Typically, in J&K, the political classes who have sympathy for the separatists work silently to take the people emotionally as much away from India as possible. But, when unable to manage the consequences of own actions, they depend on the services of Indian army for protecting the border. Unfortunately, while fighting the enemy in the LOC, the army gets exposed to terror attack from behind by the terrorist cadres. who, in turn, are parts of or sheltered by sections of the civil society. Worse, the army is prevented from neutralising these terrorist cadres by misguided  stone pelting young men. Army action against the latter is also opposed by both the political class and the intellectuals citing the theory of ‘alienation’ and ‘human rights’. In a nutshell, the whole spectrum of the fifth column has created an impossible situation for the army to operate in a professional manner in the state. It is high time that everyone interested in Indian nation understands that the behaviour of the civilians needs to be changed, if the army has to defend the border, let alone carry out a strike in enemy territory.

WAYS TO INTEGRATE THE CIVILIANS OF THE VALLEY TO MAINSTREAM

India has acted for long and in various ways to win over the civilians of the Valley to her mainstream through measures such as Art 370, Art 35A, huge budgetary allocations, infrastructure development, opening up institutes of higher learning, liberal scholarship to students, giving them priority in the matter of central government employment, and so on. Nothing has succeeded. To add to the problem, the doctrine of ‘alienation’ has kept encouraging such newer inventions but ended up in creating sense of ‘entitlements’ in them. The fact of the matter is, the seven decades plus alienation of Kashmiris from Indian mainstream was actually caused by Art 370. Instead of helping in their integration with India it facilitated extensive and unhindered indoctrination of a large chunk of civilian population in the Valley in religious fanaticism and separatism by the network of Pakistani fifth columnists at the bidding of their masters across the border.

The  sensible remedy that remains to be tried  to solve the Kashmir problem is to sever their link with such vicious ideologies and bring them, through a well-willed and assertive move into the mainstream Indian political system of democracy and secularism. This will require opening up of the state of J&K, especially the Valley for settlement to ordinary people loyal to the country from rest of India. The well-meaning people of the Valley who have been misled or gagged by the terrorists for last seven decades may then gather courage and come out of the malicious influence of the fifth column.

CLARITY OF PURPOSE

At the same time India needs to have a serious self-introspection at this juncture. It must give an honest answer to a couple of questions: ‘Do we really want to recover the Pakistan occupied Kashmir?’. ‘If so, what is the plan?’. No doubt there is a crying need to complete this important unfinished task. Pakistan has nearly proved itself a failed state. The plight of people in Pak-held Kashmir is pathetic. The demography there has been changed forcibly. Indigenous people are facing hard time due to both lack of development and exploitation by the powerful outsiders from mainland Pakistan. Religious fanaticism and anti-Indianism are the only means used to hold sway over these helpless poor people.

A comparison between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad brings the asymmetry of development in sharp relief. That the twin opium of religion and anti-Indianism are inadequate to bring happiness to people and win their loyalty were evidenced by the secession of its eastern half resulting in the emergence of Bangladesh in 1971  and growing alienation in large sections of people in Baluchistan, Sind and NWFP. It’s a pity that while people in the PoK are reportedly unhappy and disillusioned, the Pakistan’s fifth column in India are trying to mislead people of the Valley in the name of religion. As a matter of fact today both the Kashmiris in PoK and the misguided people in the Valley are truly in need of help. This broader objective also needs to be kept in view while choosing a course of action.  Full integration of Kashmir into India holds the key. This again compels attention to Art 370.

THREAT OF SABOTAGE

On the basis of today’s scenario, recovering PoK for India seems to be a formidable challenge. It is true that in the normal course India ought to have completed or at least be fighting the unfinished battle of integration of Kashmir in Skardu, Gilgit, and Muzaffarabad. Facts on ground are: Pakistan has managed to ignite, with the help of its fifth column, a raging fire deep inside the state of J&K. Reports of civilian pro-Pak activists raising flags of Pakistan and ISIS in parts of J&K including state capital Srinagar hit headlines from time to time. If India is even a wee bit serious about recovering the PoK and the Indian army fighting a decisive war towards that end, India has to, first of all, ensure that there are no treacherous attacks against them from behind by terrorists harboured by sections of Valley civilians.

ENABLING CONDITIONS

The comprehensive remedy to tackle these terror attacks is clearly to be on the offensive and take the war to Pakistan held Kashmir. The very first condition for that to happen is to align the civilian people of the entire province to Indian state and army. This is less challenging than it seems as Jammu and Ladakh (which put together account for more than two-third area of the J&K state under Indian control) favour full integration with rest of India. They are a source of strength to the Indian army. The only opposition comes from the Valley (under the vicious grip of the separatist politicians) which has been protesting any attempt to abolish Art 370.

Strategically by spreading the ideology of religious fanaticism and leveraging its fifth column in India, Pakistan has been trying hard to posit a hardly 70 lakhs people (of the valley) against the will of 122 crore to prevent their physical and ideological merger with rest of India. The nationalist voices within the civilian population in the valley have been suppressed by the elaborate army of the fifth columnists. India owes a sacred duty to the people of J&K to liberate them from the vicious ideology of fanaticism. The Pulwama attack ought to fast track the task of mainstreaming people of the valley. The time has arrived to accomplish this unfinished task through abolition of Art 370 without further procrastination.

VALIDITY OF THE OBJECTION

The protagonists of ‘status quo’ cite legal and moral grounds to oppose abolition of Art 370. As regards the ‘first’, it may be argued that the Article was mounted on unsuspecting people of India projecting it as a temporary provision. Considering the assurance given by the then PM Nehru, it was surmised that the Article would be self-annihilating i.e., it would erode over time after bringing about J&K’s complete integration with India. It was almost a betrayal that the J&K constituent Assembly had wound up without recommending its abrogation.

If the goal of integration envisaged by the Article has not happened after seven decades, and on the contrary it has taken people of the Valley farther away from rest of India, there must be something basically wrong with its very concept. Second, the moral argument about preserving the unique identity and heritage of Kashmiri people is unfounded. In India, people have constitutional right to move and settle in any part of the country. That has never endangered but created respect for the preservation of unique culture and heritage of every ethnicity, and all of them co-exist in a great splendorous assortment.

On the contrary, the manner in which the Valley civilians had, driven by religious fanaticism, persecuted and thrown away large numbers of Pundits, their millennium old fellow Kashmiris in 1990s, deprives them of any legitimacy for citing this as a ground to preserve Art 370. Further, if this argument is to hold good, the valley politicians do not have moral right to rule, as they have done for decades, over Jammu and Ladakh where majority population, on the basis of religion and or ethnically, are drastically different than the Valley,

NEED FOR WELL THOUGHT OUT ACTION

Indian policy makers must therefore look at the incidents such as Uri, Pulwama, or any other holistically and objectively.  Kashmir poses a grave challenge and calls for strength of character and courage to meet it. Continuous buck passing, empty words even if fiery, endless rationalisation of political opportunism, yielding to the pressures of the glib fifth column, etc.  will take the country nowhere. There will be sudden rise in patriotism, media will cry at the top of their voices, but the emotions will settle down in one or two weeks. The political parties will go back in search of votes and the fifth column intellectuals will resume their theory of dialogues with separatists and Pakistan as the ‘only solution’. Some of the mass media may even begin shedding tears for the slain terrorist projecting him as another victim of ‘alienation’. Pakistan would only smile and prepare for the next big attack using its agents in the state!

TACTICS Vs. STRATEGY

Therefore, India must take a call on the Kashmir issue as a whole. Individual incidents, even though horrendous, must not allow the country to lose sight of the bigger picture and long-term goal though every possible measure need to be taken with great urgency to prevent any more terror attacks in Indian side of the LOC. At the same time, she must also realize that a war is already on which Pakistan is fighting with India without India realising it, on terms and conditions that are best suited to Pakistan’s best interests. Too many precious lives of security forces have been lost in Kashmir needlessly, the social and monetary costs of which are immeasurable.

The Indian fifth column of Pakistan has been able to set up an entrapment for the Indian soldiers and the procession of death goes on endlessly. To defang this pack of vile intriguers and put a stop to any more loss of precious lives and simultaneously to be able to pursue the broader objective of regaining PoK, the first condition is to purge the Valley of anti-national elements. It is amply evident that populating the Valley with ordinary Indians loyal to the country from rest of India are concomitant to this exercise.

If India is serious about her mission, strategy must come before tactics. Carrying out strikes in enemy territory may be of limited use, when the home turf keeps generating terror strike against our own army. If the numerous instances of stone pelting against the security forces reflect the expanse of the Pakistani influence on Valley’s civil population, Pulwama attack represent its viciousness. Surgical strike is good as a tactic, but not an enduring solution to the Kashmir problem.

The event of Pulwama coming after UrI has proved this. As a matter of fact, demolishing  Art 370 would be part of a well thought strategy that can send chill down the spine of Pakistan & its fifth column in India, and put an early halt to the ongoing terror strikes in J&K. On the top of these, it would provide the quintessential platform from where the attempts to regain the Pakistan held Kashmir can be launched.

TIME IS OF ESSENCE

There is need for hurry to take this initiative. The evil influence of the separatist ideology has already spread far and wide.  Adil Ahmad Dar of Jaish-e-Muhammad is the latest in a chain which included young terrorist leader like Burhan Wani.  The Pulwama incident sent more ominous signs. Such an attack certainly needed preparation of long period and that would be impossible without knowledge of  the civil society. Further, this kind of Fidayeen strike using IED loaded vehicle, launched for the first time in the state, has raised the risk threshold considerably higher for future. Any repetitions of this terror technique would throw up an altogether new challenge to our security forces.

Last but not the least the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan also heightens the terror risk in J&K coming through POK. There is need for all round vigil by the wider civil society to pre-empt them. As of now, this seems possible by expeditiously bringing about changes in the attitude of the demography in the Valley.

TASK ON HAND

Amidst blood and tears, Pulwama terror strike has presented an opportunity to the ruling regime to exhort all parties to unite and abolish the Art 370. Every kind of political initiative over last seven decades to resolve Kashmir issue has failed. The ruling party in the Centre itself made a highly risky political experiment, which arguably deteriorated the situation in the state to a new low, as the recent incident epitomises. Finally, from the funeral pyres of the 44 martyrs a broad clear consensus has begun to emerge amongst right-thinking people across India in favour of abolishing the root cause of alienation of Kashmiri people i.e., this Article 370.

There may be opposition from some political parties though. The regional political parties of J&K may lead this camp. However, they have proved themselves to be incorrigibly selfish and acting  to the detriment of the people of the state all the time. At the national level, some parties which thrive on the politics of ‘dividing’ people on the basis of religion and caste, may also try to hinder. The intellectuals who patronises these forces would offer them shield. In normal times, it is  impossible to overcome the coalition of these malicious forces. Pulwama incident, by raising the public consciousness to a dizzy height, has brought these forces under severe pressure and  has finally given a historical chance to the ruling regime to rescue the state of J&K, by abolishing this divisive instrument.

The ruling regime must not dither but take courage in both hands and immediately summon joint session of the Parliament for this purpose. If it can get the bill passed, India would take a quantum jump towards solving the Kashmir problem. In the event the bill falls through for want of adequate support, it can still turn the General Election 2019 as a Referendum on the Abolition of Article 370 and get a massive mandate. That would help it to carry out the unfinished task in its next term. A billion plus people have become impatient with the Kashmir policy that has been bleeding India by inflicting a thousand cut on her body. But trying to evade from the historic responsibility may only diminish people’s confidence in its ability to defend the best interests of the country.

Hatred or Abusement post in social media. Social media is used by several people pro and anti of various posts. Most of them either pro or anti are just doing it for cheap self publicity. It’s all because of plenty of data made available at cheaper rate and improper policy of site owners which post should go online which should not.

Especially after Twitter increased characters as well as video posting live or recorded are allowed by all sites all nonsense is getting online. Why one has to report whether it’s spam or abuse, what the staff employed doing? If it is against standards laid, immediately that post should removed, if repeated block the account. Not the users are to be blamed, it’s the management of social media sites should be blamed. The government, parties, other channels, newspapers, etc, when they have their sites etc why use social media?

On this there should be a rethink on rules and regulations by one all at present prevailing situation in the country. Like Swacch Bharat Abhiyan – Swacch Social Media Abhiyan is need of the hour.
