The media is now stooping to desperate levels to somehow attack PM Modi

0

PM Modi has been a long standing advocate of free and fair usage of social media. His stand on conduct on social media is simple & well-known. In an interview given in 2013, while speaking on the subject of trolling, he said:

Our Culture is known for its long standing traditions of respecting our elders and our scholars. In the same vein, we worship and celebrate Women’s Power as Shakti. Expressing one’s opinion on Social Media, does not imply, that we abandon our Culture and value systems. Our conduct at home, offices and schools, is based on certain well appreciated norms of mutual respect and dignity. The same ought to apply to our conduct on Social Media as well

PM Modi is one of those world leaders who indulges himself in social media to understand the pulse of common people. But now a controversy has erupted in the media after a certain twitter user followed by PM Modi had used derogatory language against the recently deceased Gauri Lankesh.

The controversy over who PM Modi follows on Twitter is mischievous and contorted as PM Modi is one of the rare leaders who freely engages with people on social media platforms. He follows normal people and frequently interacts with them on various issues.

We have multiple examples of leaders curbing free speech on social media by the earlier government:

  • The earlier government had indulged in blocking specific handles on Twitter and certain pages just because they gave opinions against the ruling establishment.
  • The previous PMO handle had even gone onto actually block many people – yes, a Govt handle belonging to the highest office in the country blocked people for having views.

But PM Modi has never reportedly blocked anyone on Twitter.

A ‘Follow’ on Twitter Is Not a Character Certificate or Endorsement

Following someone on twitter is not an endorsement or character certificate of the person who is being followed. As people often argue that retweets are not endorsements, it is common sense to understand following is not endorsement, unless someone wants to deliberately create an issue.

Let us see why:

  • For example, PM Modi follows Rahul Gandhi, who is an accused of loot and fraud in the National Herald case. Does that mean all those people who follow Rahul’s twitter account including PM Modi endorse Rahul’s alleged frauds or his often-controversial views?
  • PM Modi also follows Arvind Kejriwal, who abused him on Twitter calling him a ‘coward and psychopath’. By the logic of some of these people that ‘following means endorsement’, do they mean PM Modi endorses this abuse of himself?
  • Arvind Kejriwal is alleged to have told a woman ‘Settle Kar Lo’ when she complained of a party member molesting her. PM Modi follows him on twitter. Why did no journalist or politician question this?

Rahul Gandhi’s Dark Social Media Associations

  • Rahul Gandhi has been associated with some people who are known for filthy abuse and innuendo.
  • Even before Rahul officially came onto twitter officially, an Uttar Pradesh Congress leader called Amaresh Mishra who claimed to be close to Rahul and Digvijaya on national TV frequently issued death and rape threats. Neither distanced themselves from him:

After Rahul came onto twitter officially, he followed quite a few people. Out of them at least 2 are notorious for targeting women, especially Union Minister Smriti Irani. Sanjay Nirupam, whom Rahul follows had infamously uttered despicable remarks against Mrs Smriti Irani on live TV. Did journalists stop inviting him or did Congress drop him from their party?

Another man Amarinder Singh Raja, who is a national president of Youth Congress, whom Rahul still follows has also been guilty of tweeting innuendo against Smriti Irani:

Tehseen Poonawalla who is followed by Congress people as well as journalists, and is often invited to studios to defend Congress, had sent these tweets to Smriti Irani. Why aren’t Rahul or Poonawalla’s journalist friends ever asked any questions:

Followed by a host of journalists and Congress people, Gaurav Pandhi is a Congress supporter on twitter. Below is what he has said:

Kejriwal’s association with abusive social media personalities

AAP supporters too are notorious for regular abuse and trolling on twitter. Kejriwal himself, either follows or openly associates himself with some of the filthiest, abusive people on twitter. Here’s a person Arvind Kejriwal follows, called Abhishek Mishra. A self-styled RTI activist:

Mika Singh is a famous Punjabi and Bollywood singer. He is also a fervent AAP supporter and seen as very close to Kejriwal. He backed Kejriwal even financially for which Kejriwal thanked him publicly:

Now let us see some of Mika’s colourful tweets:

Vishal Dadlani is a Bollywood music composer who also happens to be a troll on twitter who generously abuses people who do not agree with him. He is a big AAP supporter and has often been seen with Arvind Kejriwal. Below is the kind of language Vishal uses:

On the occasion that highly revered Jain Guru Tarun Sagar addressed Haryana Assembly, Vishal mocked at the Guru and made snide remarks at him:

Sections of The Media Are No Better

Check this screenshot of an infamously abusive and violent troll (who before suspension was followed by various journalists and trolls), cheering the murder of CRPF jawans and praising Leftist terrorists for the action:

Leading journalist and Modi critic Rajdeep Sardesai is said to have abused people via Direct Messages on twitter:

Or check this journalist Ifrah Mufti who is working for Hindustan Times and called PM Modi as “Jaahil”:

Here’s a ‘journalist’ whose book on ‘trolls’ was promoted was by most media houses. And how is her own language? Is she abusive?

In a nation that has many substantive issues of policy that can be discussed, the Opposition and mischievous sections of the media are reduced discussing who PM Modi follows on Twitter. Will they also do the same for Rahul, Kejriwal and the people of their own brethren.

How Right Wing became the new dominant ideology of India

0

Looking at the present political scenario, a lot of people in India may feel that there is rise of right wing in India. If you too think the same, then you are absolutely right. But how and why this sudden surge take place?

The answer might be easily given by pointing fingers towards the present BJP government, but there is something more to it:

Image result for right wing in india

At one point of time, Hinduism was predominantly the only religion of India. But after the Mughal invasion of India, some people were converted to Islam gradually. There are many evidences in history that show how Hindus were tortured, when they didn’t convert to Islam. During the British rule, the missionaries were allagedly actively involved in converting people to Christianity. The fact is mostly poor people and innocent Dalits were converted easily by them. Even now, the missionaries are actively involved in the same act.

So a considerable amount of Hindus felt a sense of insecurity. When these Hindus were in a state of vulnerability, the RSS, Sangh Parivar and BJP served as a tool for unifying these Hindus to resist against ill treatment of Hinduism. A considerable amount of Hindus have already reached a conclusion that BJP is the only political party that takes care of them.

Some Hindus have even started believing that except the BJP, every party in India is cheating them in the name of secularism by appeasing minorities. This outrage among them, have basically made them lean towards the BJP whose core ideology is Hindutva.

Thus the BJP has achieved enormous growth since its inception. After their spectacular victory in 2014 by projecting Narendra Modi as their Prime Ministerial candidate, there was no stopping back in the growth of the party electorally and a massive increase in its cadre base representing all forms of society:

Image result for modi with rss

Those Hindus who felt cheated by pseudo secularism and pseudo liberalism shown by other political parties have started voting for BJP. The grand manner in which Hindu festivals are being celebrated under the current BJP government stands out as a proof that shows Hindu revivalism is one of their agenda.

Coming to the moderates, when they appreciate some good move of the government, they get mocked and trolled by leftists. This enrages the moderates which has pushed them to come under the clout of Right Wing to their defence. Over the past 3 years, the existing supporters of the BJP have turned into hardcore supporters.

Previously Social Media used to be dominated mostly by leftists, liberals and neutral ones. But now the trend is slightly different. Every misrepresentation of incidents by journalists to fit them into their left liberal ideology is now easily exposed, which further prods the moderates to move towards the right wing.

The Right Wing in India is promoting Hinduism and surprisingly Hindu nationalism off late. Though the left sees it as a threat to the secular ethos of the country, the right wing says Hinduism itself is a liberal and secular religion so that there’s no need for insecurity among minorities. This changing atmosphere might be difficult to digest for the left, but it has to accept the fact that Right wing is the new dominant ideology of India.

Separating fact from fiction on Gauri Lankesh

0

Narendra Dabholkar, Govind Pansare, MM Kalburgi and now Gauri Lankesh. Out of the 4 of these, 3 were killed in Congress-ruled States.

But as soon as the news of Gauri Lankesh’s very unfortunate killing started trickling in, a vitriolic campaign by many including her “comrades” began, instantaneously, attributing her murder to the BJP/Hindutva, possibly deriving political mileage out of her death like vultures devouring a carcass. In their coordinated campaign, hardly anyone questioned the Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah on complete disarray of law and order situation in his State.

In fact, her last tweet (excluding retweets) on the day of her death pointed towards a discord between her and her ideological partners. What the reason for the differences could be and whether it played a part in her murder is a matter of investigation.

In one of the articles published by Swarajya on the dismal law and order situation in Karnataka governed by Congress CM Siddaramaiah, the author has pointed out that the list of high profile people getting killed or dying in suspicious circumstances in Karnataka ranges from journalists to IPS and opposition leaders.

A mark of suspicion on state investigation agencies possibly not doing justice to Gauri Lankesh’s murder has been put forth by the deceased’s brother Indrajit Lankesh:

Contrast this with how Gauri Lankesh herself had seemingly shown confidence in Karnataka CM’s statement on expediting Kalburgi’s murder investigation on the second anniversary of his murder, in one of her tweets:

In fact, a staunch critic of Prime Minister Modi and BJP, Gauri Lankesh was remarkably supportive of Siddaramaiah and Congress, often retweeting his tweets showing a particular closeness to the party. Journalists who are calling her ‘independent’ or ‘anti-establishment’ may want to note this:

This might lead some to insinuate that Lankesh didn’t have much regard for the BJP. This hate may explain her disengagement with the cause of Muslim women (endorsed by Prime Minister Modi) who were fighting the archaic and unjust practice of triple talaq:

Though she welcomed the Supreme Court judgment banning the practice, she was seen drawing false equivalence of it with Narendra Modi rebelling against forced child marriage during his teenage years.

She was also seen strongly defending reports of thin crowds at Lalu’s Patna rally or making a case for his innocence. Her open support to corrupt and morally defunct politicians shouldn’t be ignored and a skewed picture of hers shouldn’t be painted:

Again, her support for Dr. Kafeel Khan in Gorakhpur tragedy may have been based more on opposition to Yogi Adityanath rather than facts:

Gauri Lankesh has neither been free from agendas nor been free from controversies. She was sentenced to six months in prison and ordered to pay a penalty of Rs 10,000 on November 28 2016 due to a conviction in two defamation cases filed after she slandered two BJP leaders – MP Pralhad Joshi and Umesh Dushi.

Her brother and publisher of Lankesh Patrike accused her of backing naxals. She filed a counter complaint charging her brother of holding her at gun point:

In one of her last tweets before her death, Gauri Lankesh made light of circulation of fake posts, calling it a “mistake”:

Her scuttling of the issue of fake news here is in contrast to her earlier stand on the topic especially when the perpetrator is from the other side of ideological spectrum:

In the end though NOTHING can justify Gauri Lankesh’s brutal killing. It was a very heinous crime and the perpetrators must be brought to justice.

However, her obituaries should be a real tribute to her and show her true political self, of which she was openly proud, rather than trying to portray her as a neutral journalist, an independent voice or an anti-establishment warrior.

Suggestion to the Prime Minister which can result in huge savings for the country

Sub: Suggestion to the Prime Minister

Dear Sir,

I have a number of suggestions to make to you purely from an ordinary citizen’s perspective, but I thought in your busy schedule it would be difficult for you to spend too much time on a long communication.

Hence, I will be sending you just one suggestion every fortnight for your consideration and possible action.

My first suggestion in this series is :

Instruct all Government Departments, Banks and Credit Card Companies to issue Cheques or make digital payment or debit/credit amounts only to the nearest Rupee.

This means that no payment or debit should be made showing “paise” in it. Today, Bank interest is being debited or credited as Rs. 1567.63. Similar is the case with Credit Card Debits. Even where there is rounding off to the nearest Rupee, authorities are still printing “00” in paise column.

My suggestion is to drop paisa from all digital or “paper printing” transactions. This will result in huge savings in printing ink costs over a long period.

Let me illustrate this below :

A typical amount written in any cheque, passbook, Credit Card Statement, Railway ticket is Rs. XXXX.XX i.e. 7 characters have to be printed. If we do not write the “paise” figures, the printing will be Rs. XXXX. In this case the number of characters reduces to 4 as compared to 7 earlier i.e. 42.9 % reduction. You can see that, automatically, this means an 43 % reduction in printing ink consumption whenever money amounts are being printed. This amount will vary depending on the amount involved, that is if it is in lakhs or thousand:

  • In case the amount being printed is below a thousand rupees i.e. Rs. XXX.XX then the revised printing of Rs. XXX will mean a printing of 3 characters instead of 6 i.e. a reduction of 50 %.
  • In case the amount being printed is below a hundred rupees i.e. Rs. XX.XX then the revised printing of Rs. XX will mean a printing of 2 characters instead of 5 i.e. a reduction of 60 %.

If you extrapolate this amount over the entire country and in all transactions, public or private, this will mean huge savings for the country. Plus printing time will reduce proportionately and will be tangible and significant when Bank A/c statements are being printed for large customers or any money transaction statements are to be printed.

So in short there is a prevalence of paise in the printouts in all kinds of documents/statements – both when there is a value and even when it is zero. I went through a large variety of such examples simply to underline the point that this is happening on a huge scale and therefore if we suppress the printing of zeroes, the savings potential is huge.

Now how to calculate the nearest Rupee? We follow the Rule of Mathematics:

  • Upto 49 paise, it will be the lower Rupee
  • From 50 to 99 paise, it will be the higher rupee.

This may need to be legislated so that people do not file frivolous complaints or claims.

This will also make it more comfortable to fit statements in the international standard A4 Size paper instead of having to use Foolscap or even A3 size paper which will be another saving by itself. Most PSU banks use A3 size paper to give Bank Statements to customers while all MNC/ Private Sector Banks use A4 size paper which is a huge savings in paper cost.

Finally, did you know that in all Credit Card/POS machines you have to type .00 (DOT, ZERO, ZERO) for paise even when there are no paise in the bill or amount. This means 3 extra press of the Keys for no purpose at all. If you take into account the number of Credit Card and POS transactions that is happening every day in the country, you can well imagine that huge time that will be saved if “paise” are eliminated for all kinds of Billing/Money Statements.

Kind regard,

Hemendra K. Varma

Accept it, demonetisation has turned out to be an exercise of monumental proportions delivering results of minuscule proportions .

The figures are out, and there is no point repeating the statistics because they are dismal considering the high expectations . Further, the statistics of hardships, job loss, setback to economic growth and the costs of demonetisation far outweigh the benefits if any .

The lower classes , the middle class and the honest tax payers bore the brunt of demonetisation and were forced to endure the clumsily implemented exercise, while obviously, the wealthy hoarders found a way to circumvent the dragnet to convert their ill-gotten wealth into legal tender.

Jury that was out on whether it was a well-meaning bold initiative to unearth tainted money wasn’t conclusive this far, but the verdict is now out, and it clearly indicts the Modi Government for burdening the Nation with an ill-conceived scheme that was handled badly .

The undue procrastination of the outcome might have soothed the flayed nerves of the affected masses, but today, when its crystal clear that demonetisation is a big failure, the memories of hardships is bound to rush back bringing with it a host of questions that need honest answers.

Rhetoric about data-mining zeroing in on evaders, claims about shell companies unearthed, allegations of suspicious transactions being investigated are all hot air as long as they are not backed by verifiable numbers. Unfortunately numbers remain elusive for reasons known only to the Government.

Swelling tax base, tight leash on high value cash transactions and quantum jump in the size of cashless economy are now claimed as beneficial takeaways of demonetisation, but here again the Government’s claims remain unsubstantiated.

Does Modi deserve the benefit of doubt ?

In my opinion he has to be commended for staking his popularity at the alter of an initiative that had unforeseeable consequences . Despite the risks Modi went ahead with demonetisation exhibiting characteristics of a Leader willing to take bold decisions to tackle issue that are hurdles in India’s quest to grow and flourish. But, a true Leader’s leadership quality hinges on his ability to swallow his pride to come out and say , “I am Sorry – I tried but I failed” .

Will he do it?

Media’s hit job on Haryana violence

0

While we have the whining of Libtards instigating to use the “pallet” guns as the crowd assembled to support Ram Rahim doesn’t belong to a “group” of their choice. We didn’t see anyone of those Libtards shedding a tear for those 30 over innocents who are dead, most them were innocent followers of Baba and were unaware of the situation in hand.

Khattar being called by Center and all including those Libtards saw their grudge getting peace if he is sacked. But what comes out was shear disappointment to the media and many others, when Khattar came home safe.

They never imagined a situation where in a crackdown on Baba followers in pre court’s judgement time could have never brought the Baba out of his den in Sirsa. The only measure was to tell him and convince him that he would be a free man in the judgement. This assurance, supported by the free movement of his followers was required in the pre judgement scenario to bring him to court premises.

What the people don’t see is how the govt. controlled a 100K plus bob in less than 3 hours. Have you even seen a 30+ people (won’t say them rioters) getting killed by para military forces in half a day?

Its good to follow an agenda but human lives are valuable whether its Bengal/Kerla/Kashmir/Panchkula or anywhere else.

Damage to property is condemnable whether it is Azad Medan roits, or Dera Sach Khand violence or damage of stations schools in Punjab or in Panchkula yesterday. etc.

Till recently a 2002 registered case didn’t move due a political unwillingness and other hurdles. This is the same political willing of a different group which put the Baba behind bars.

Being naked is not being empowered

0

The feminist movement has now metamorphed into something altogether different, instead of creating an atmosphere where women understand their emotional needs, and ambitions and making men participate in creating that atmosphere, interested parties have hijacked the whole thing. It has deteriorated so much in the last few years that I don’t want to relate myself to it.

In fact, sometimes it becomes tough for me to objectively debate the current feminism bandwagon with my male friends, because deep down I know that they are right, the nude pics, the unnecessary superiority comparison, the fake pursuit of role playing equality which is more to do with nature rather than discrimination is something which does not even needs to be discussed as part of women empowerment. The fake thing is all that prevails now, and the legitimate struggle for women empowerment has subsided under the burden of hashtags, and some random fake elite cases, and nude pics.

NGOS don’t want to fight for the real problems for women (we know there are many), they just want to lead a proxy assault on Hinduism, by degrading our cultural practices. Celebrities have appropriated it according to their needs; to get instant gratification and crack cocaine of confidence highs they post naked and semi naked pics with a women empowerment hashtag. It’s so ridiculous, I mean how is posting a naked pic anyway related to women empowerment, site out one women who is getting empowered by the naked pic? Naked pic is now as pedestrian as sausage; I don’t understand what point they want to bring home? Yes, I understand that body positivity is good. Confidence is important. But privacy is also a beautiful thing.

I am confident with my body, but I don’t want to entirely expose myself in public cos privacy is also a beautiful thing. I love to keep some aspects of myself private, and I don’t believe that instructing women to ignore their inhibitions and strip down in public is women empowerment. On the contrary, its doing just the opposite, because most women, especially those who are forced to remain confined to their houses and perform activities meant to please their husbands after sacrificing their own desires and aspirations take these celebrities as their role models. Little do they realize that their role models know nothing about empowerment even after being so empowered This rush of undressing can be confused with feeling empowered, and the reality will be buried under rhetoric because the real women, and the real problems never feature in the social campaign.

The problem with India is that we have always been struggling to gain or retain national freedom and unity, battling for basic things. We never got a chance to sit at peace and find solution to our problems keeping in mind our real culture. In the absence of real solution, we end up imitating the west, their fake campaigns, which ends up having no effect whatsoever at societal level. In India the vast majority of Indian women are illiterate and deprived of equal opportunities, and I understand that in an ideal world these problems would not exist. In an ideal world, people would respect women regardless of what they wear, no one would attempt to take advantage of a nude woman, everyone will have equal opportunities and the space to realize, and fulfill their aspirations. But the fact of the matter is that there are plenty of people all around us willing (and actively seeking) to exploit the female body, women ‘adjusting’ to expectations, child abuse, rape, illiteracy, eve teasing, abject poverty, gender ratio etc. When looking for a solution to empowerment, we must keep in mind our collective cultural thinking.

I feel that women themselves can play a huge role, they should be aware and conscious of themselves as human beings and should have a strong sense of dignity and self-esteem. Our problems aren’t just limited to “if men can do, why can’t we?”, and it’s not like men are only responsible for women subordination, I have noticed in various cases that women themselves are most of the time busy politicking against other women in the family. In fact, most of the time women are guilty of the very thing they accuse others of, hence in such situation it becomes imperative for women to understand and respect their worth, and the worth of their counterparts. What men can do is become more aware of the emotional needs and ambitions of their women thereby making it easier for women to feel happy and less burdened, encourage the partner to be sexually confident resulting in mutual happiness; and last but not the least do not justify rapes of ‘bad women’ etc.

I want women to have self-respect and a good moral compass, I want a society where women is known and appreciated for her intellect and not her blossoming into an oil clad sex symbol, I want a capable environment so that women make their own right decisions in each area, whether for themselves, the family, society, or the country. To attain above its very important that we understand the true essence of empowerment, and not reduce it to a charade.

Why our youth is detaching itself from our wonderful heritage

0

Once upon a time a bunch of girls decided to sit and gossip. The television was also on and a daily soap was running that had a character called ‘Zain’. “Oh! I love the name Zain”, said a friend. “Oh! Me too; Zain and Zara.” “Yeah, Zain, Zara and Sarah. I am going to name my kids one out of these.” And thus, the topic of our gossip veered to what we would name our kids when we have them; it’s a totally different fact that we were far, far away from the prospect of having kids or getting married for that matter, but then we were gossiping after all, so it was totally fine whatever we said. So each one of us came with a set of names and apart from Zain, Zara and Sarah, there were names like Rehaan, Elizeh, Aaliyaah, Kyra, Sanaya etc. When my turn came I said, “I’d like to name my girls Katyayni and Kalyani.” My best buddy looked at me in disbelief, as if I had said Surpanakha and Putna instead. “Seriously, are you going to keep those kind of names?” “Yeah, why not?” I said, “After all, I love traditional Indian names.”

Traditional Indian names sadly, do not suit the fine tastes of a lot us these days. In fact, if it were possible many of us would have gone ahead and reversed our Naamkaran to something that is more fashionable and exotic. But since, that is not possible we make do with keeping nicknames that are slick/smart versions of our original names, for example Krishna becomes Krish, Sandeep becomes Sandy, Hari becomes Harry, Vikram becomes Vikki. To be honest, it is everyone’s personal choice and right when it comes to choosing the name they want to keep for themselves or their kids, but my point is what is wrong with the traditional Indian names that we are so dreadfully ashamed of? But is it just the name?

The other day when some of my friends asked me what my plans for weekend were and I said, “Bhajans and a Havan”, they looked at me as if I were the most pitiable creature in the universe. “You don’t have a life”, my friend declared, “Look at your age. Why are you wasting the peak years of your youth?” Their faith in my being a normal, progressive girl was only reinstated when they next saw me in my branded, western wear, sipping my mocktail and gyrating to the disco beats. It does not stop here. I went for the Bhajans and a lady sheepishly asked me to find a particular Bhajan from the songbook. “Oh! You must have forgotten your spectacles”, I said. “No. Look at the page numbers. I cannot figure what they are. I hope you will be able to.” “Have they started printing the numbers in Swahili”, I wondered. They were Hindi numerals. Had I not preserved some memory of what my grandmother taught me in childhood, I would have surely had to pass the book helplessly to someone else. And I cannot blame that lady. Give me something written in Bengali and I will stare at it like Abhimanyu stuck in Chakravyuh (My mother tongue is Bengali).

Further, to add to my shock when we started making a list of the Bhajans, the lady started writing the names (that were in Hindi), in Roman script! Well, I cannot blame her yet again because that will be my position too if I am asked to write in my mother tongue.

But if there are factors that endanger our culture and traditions, there are still some elements that make us cling to them. And they can be rather hilarious. We will skip in our cool (or hot) western wear the entire year, but come festivals and we will be decked in all our ethnic finery. After all, it’s glamorous and looks good in the pictures too and besides, how do you do Dandiya in trousers? No fun, that. But ask us which deity is worshipped on which day of the Navratri and we become Gandhiji ka Bandar (the quiet one). With guys this phenomenon is even more prominent, for you can still find girls in Salvaar-Kameez or Palazzos as per the latest fashion trend; but guys in ethnic wear except functions, you got to be kidding. A lot of us will regularly hop to the pubs and bars, but when it comes to finding the Mr. Right, many of us will fall back upon the ‘Solah Somvaar’ fast. And then don’t we remember all the Gods and Goddesses we know on the day of our examinations. Some of us even write ‘Jai Maa Saraswati’ and ‘Jai Shri Ram’ on the answer sheet. Oh! There are so many examples when we cannot just stop being our traditional self.

Jokes apart, it isn’t a sin to wear whatever we like the entire year or living a lifestyle that suits our personality. And it is totally fine to name our kids or ourselves ‘Zain’, ‘Zara’ or ‘Sarah’, however we may please, but how does forgetting our tradition, culture and even mythology help and especially, when we have the wonderful choice of being selective about the parts that we may want to have in our lives. How our festivals celebrate each season and how some really amazing calculations decide which day our Tithis fall on, is just the tip of this ocean; the deeper one delves, the more amazed one is left.

Ours is perhaps the most ancient, surviving civilization and in a bid to live a life that is technically and originally not our own, we can perhaps bring to extinction the science and literature that tells the tale of our own evolution. We have come a far way from where we started and there is still a long distance that we have to cover, but as we scale that distance, let us not forget where we started from. Let us not become that refugee in a foreign land whose traces have been erased in a desert of forgotten knowledge and let us not become that amnesiac who has lost his past and hence, someone who cannot appreciate his present. That; would be very, very painful.

List of potential candidates who can replace Vishal Sikka as Chairman of Infosys

0

Now that Vishal Sikka has left Infosys for good and the company will soon start looking for a new CEO, several names have been doing the rounds.

Even we at Myvoice Opindia decided to research and came up with our list of potential candidates to replace Vishal Sikka as CEO.

Here are the list of Candidates:

Arvind Kejriwal:

With the current business model of Infosys no longer a growth driver, the company needs someone who can shake up the employees out of their slumber and change their mindset. Infosys needs to switch from its sluggish technology giant culture to a nimble startup culture. Arvind Kejriwal fits the bill perfectly as he been successful with his startup AAP and in just a span of 5 years eclipsed giants Congress and BJP in Delhi.

In this fast changing world of technology, you cannot take emotional decisions but you must take quick decisions to replace people so that the company survives and grows. Yogendra Yadav, Prashant Bhushan, Shazia Ilmi, Vinod Kumar Binny, Captain Gopinath, Medha Patkar, Ashwini Upadhyay, Madhu Bhaduri, Anjali Damani, the list of people who quit or were expelled from the AAP in its short duration of existence shows that Avind Kejriwal is not afraid to make changes in the organization as the situation demands.

Arvind Kejriwal is so honest that Narayan Murthy will not dare to question him on corporate governance and the company will be able to run smoothly without interference from founders. If Murthy still interferes, Kejriwal can do a dharna inside the Infosys campus saying that Narayan Murthy does not allow him to work. If things go out of hand, Ashutosh can always ask Naryanan Murthy for his degree certificates.

Rahul Gandhi:

The Infosys promoters have taken back the control of the company and Nandan Nilekani is back as Non-Executive Chairman. So, the new CEO will have to enjoy the confidence of the board. Nandan Nilekani enjoys a good working relationship with Rahul Gandhi. He once said about Rahul Gandhi:

“Rahul Gandhi’s ideas are revolutionary. He is an agent of change and has brilliant ideas,”

This is want Infosys needs at this juncture.

Nandan Nilekani also said that he wanted to partner Rahul in making that change happen. So, now is the time.

Infosys does not need incremental changes at this juncture but a change with the escape velocity of Jupiter and there is only one person who can deliver it.

This decision of Infosys can turn the bad press of the last few months into good press as journalists clamor to justify every move of Rahul Gandhi as CEO.

Rajdeep Sardesai

IT professionals sadly are still living in their make believe world and have not realized how much technology, automation and social media will impact them in the future. So the best person to lead them is a person who has already faced the onslaught of new age media and technology. As a journalist who was held in high esteem before the advent of social media to now being mocked for his creative reporting, he truly has experienced the change and can use it to shake employees out of their slumber.

He understands the problems of the tyranny of distance well and will use his experience to bridge this tyranny of distance between his onshore clients and offshore employees and bring both on the same page.

With his moral compass, Narayan Murthy will no longer have to worry about corporate governance.
