Why do leftists all over the world spread Islamophobia?

0

Since the advent of terrorism in the world; whether you consider 9/11 as the reference point or terrorist attacks in Kashmir since the late 80s or attacks on Israel since many decades or the Arab Spring; we have seen a section of society come forward to claim “Muslims living in fear” due to Islamophobia despite the fact that there have been hardly any attacks on Muslims in the aftermath of any terrorist attack.

Even before the loved ones and grievers could wipe off their tears, these reports start doing the rounds all over the world, like someone has pressed a button somewhere to get them online.

If you look closely, a major portion of the support in the form of “concern” comes from the people that follow left ideology, or leftists. In many parts; due to the massive control of leftists over intellectual, academic, entertainment, and other prominent spheres; a lot of liberals (read celebrities) also lend their voices to this false propaganda of “Islamophobia”.

So is it just a coincidence or there is something to it?

I think its a conscious decision on the part of the leftists to spread Islamophobia to provide a justification for the heinous and cowardly acts of terrorism. As soon as a terrorist attack takes place, multiple narratives start playing simultaneously; whether it is to spread Islamophobia or to provide justification for such acts in the name of oil politics, white supremacy, Hindu fundamentalism, subjugation, etc. or to portray the followers of the 2nd largest religion of the world as “victims” or even to the extent of trying to bring out the humanly side of the terrorists in the form of a husband or a father or messiah of poor.

If the same thing repeats again and again, whether the attack happens in London, New York, Mumbai, Paris, Afghanistan, or any other place; you cannot just ignore it by terming it as the opinions of a few. We need to look into the larger picture. What is the game here? How come the narrative becomes “Islam is a religion of peace” or “Muslim Victimization”, when it should be about “how can we tackle terror”? Why can’t we have an honest talk about terrorism anymore? Why, after so many years of discussion, we have not been able to come up with a “definition” of terrorism?

It is because of the nexus that has captured our analytical capability and made us apologetic about even asking why most of the attacks come from the people of one particular ideology? Until, we start being honest and ask the right questions, we are not even going to come close to solving this humongous problem.

Yes, Islam is a religion of peace, just like Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism, Christianity, or any other religion in the world. But that is not in question here, is it? Are those people who question terrorism believe that all Muslims are terrorists? Of course not. But some people are using the sacred texts to wage a war on the whole world because they think it is their Allah’s will. Can we deny this fact anymore?

Can we deny the fact that every religion had their renaissance movement where it was separated from the political power structures and was reduced to a personal level, barring Islam? We have more than 15 Islamic nations in the world which are either completely Islamist or have Islam as the official religion of the state. Do we have a Christian state anymore, or a Hindu state or a Sikh state? The national identities takes precedence for most of the people from other religions after the fall of religion based empires and the rise of nations as a geographical entity. But Islam still has not been freed from the concept of a “religious empire”.

The fact is Islam has a political Islamist ideology as well which was never dissociated from the religion due to lack of reforms within the religion. It is still stuck in the 7th century and those who raise voices for reforms are either silenced or killed or termed Infidels.

So the question arises why are we not allowed to raise these valid questions? Why can’t we openly discuss the problem and address the core issue without offending someone? Especially at a time when we are seeing the anger grow day by day among people all over the world against the menace of terrorism and we are already seeing the sporadic individual acts of revenge on Muslims due to this misplaced anger. This is frightening but it also shows the complete failure of ours, in even as basic as starting an open, honest conversation to understand the crux of an issue which affects most of the people very deeply.

So again, the question comes why?

I believe the reason has been the cover fire provided to these terrorists and their ideology by the leftists.

Leftist ideology at its core has the concept of “suppressed classes”. It was an ideology that was introduced for the political emancipation of the “suppressed people”. In those times, it were the landless farmers, or factory workers, or slaves, or other oppressed sections of the society. With the rise of an open world, where any one can choose their own profession and with the demolition of the stranglehold a few sections of the society has over others, these “mass” classes don’t exist anymore. So the leftists need a “mass” section of people whom they can portray as suppressed and thus keep their politics and ideology alive.

And who can be better than the Islamist terror groups who have so many similarities with the left ideology. Hate for those belonging to other side of the belief and ideology – check. Justification of violence in the name of a better society – check. Unquestionable belief in the ideology and complete reluctance to listen – check. Mass violence by the followers of both ideologies – check. Have a single book that has been interpreted in multiple ways to spread hate and justify violence – check. Its very natural for the leftists to be sympathetic towards the Islamist ideology of terror groups.

Since leftists cannot openly support these groups for obvious reasons, they use this complex web of propaganda to provide their covert support and breathing space to these terror groups. Leftists need these groups to survive and thrive because if the problem is solved and they do not exist anymore, how will they use Islamophobia to portray Muslims as victims and achieve their political goals. And since when has the life of a human being considered an obstacle for the leftists while spreading their ideology and propaganda.

Sometimes, I wonder how the followers of the ideology that states “Religion is the opium of the people” and is completely antagonistic to religion, are giving full support and cover to a violent political Islamist ideology in the name of religious freedom! Karl Marx would be turning and tossing in his grave by looking at the state of his ideology that these leftists has turned into.

Since the intellectual, academic world is dominated by the people from left ideology, they use their power and position to shame those who dare to ask the real questions as “Islamophobic”. Just like they have played their politics all these centuries by turning one section of society against another.

I genuinely believe that these leftists do this thinking they are doing some sort of a favor to Muslims all over the world, that they are protecting a community the entire world is trying to get. Because they are so engrossed in their ideology and beliefs that they can also be termed as “brainwashed” just like these terrorists.

In their trance, they don’t even realize that their propaganda is being most harmful to the common Muslims, the very people they are claiming to protect. Their tacit support is blocking the much needed reforms in Islam and the need of separating the religion from political ideology. Their support ensures that many Muslims actually start supporting these violent groups and their vicious ideology. Their support ensures that the ideology which advocates violence as a means to their end, just like their own, continues to thrive and attract more supporters from all over the world.

If we ever want to get rid of terrorism, the first step should be the isolation of these leftist voices who have merged their ideology with the Islamist ideology, thereby combining the two most violent ideologies the world has seen in the last 1000 years to create a monster that is threatening to destabilize the whole world.

Why the politics of DMK, Congress seems dangerous to Tamil Nadu

0

Forming alliance by political parties with contrasting ideologies during election season is well known. Alliances are formed mostly to win an election and therefore asking questions about whether the political parties have betrayed the party principle, value system and how they used to abuse each other in the past would hold no meaning or merit. The question is not about the alliance whether it is holy or unholy; such branding can be ascertained only by the people. The point of worry is not about such alliances but about the politics that is being played out by different alliance parties to win election and come to power.

The politics played out by DMK and Congress alliance look very dangerous to the future of Tamil Nadu. Both the DMK and Congress party often brand BJP as Hindu divisive force and anti-minority party. But if we carefully study the politics played by the president of DMK in the recent time, the signals are quite worrisome and look like may endanger the harmony and peace of Tamil Nadu in near future. The dangerous and divisive politics of DMK may not be meant to stop the expansion of BJP in the state but it looks like DMK is left with no choice other than playing Christian-Muslim card and consolidate its base. The reason for the fear of DMK is due to the ‘intellectual resonance’ that is created among Tamil youths by several self-appointed guardians and owners of Tamil identity in the state.

The contribution of Seeman, Maniarasan, Sakthivel etc., to Tamil Nadu is incredible as they have thoroughly exposed DMK and EV Ramasamy Naicker to show how they have disfigured Tamil identity and imposed Dravidian crown upon Tamil Nadu to hide own Telugu identity and how they played pro-Tamil politics to fool people etc.

During war against Tamils in Sri Lanka in the past, DMK was in power in the state and the congress party was in power at the centre where DMK was also a partner. But DMK did nothing to stop the massacre with its power both in the state as well as in the centre which is known to everyone.  Similarly DMK also did nothing to uplift the poor and suppressed communities when Sattanathan commission recommended economic considerations to be taken up for reservation and the backward community from creamy layer must be excluded from the reservation benefit which Karunanidhi refused to heed to as he believed that such move may affect his political interest.

Today it looks like DMK wants to consolidate its base with Christian and Muslim community with the help of christen missionaries and to catapult such benefit, DMK is using congress and its president. The politics played by DMK is quite dangerous to the state in near future.

The Tamil Desia parties on the other hand are constantly exposing DMK and galvanizing the Tamil people. But only flaw people see in their approach is that they are isolating and alienating people from other states and minorities. Further they are also tutoring to the people that Tamil people are not Hindus. The fear of Stalin may be that in future the real Tamil people may not support DMK as DMK cannot sell either Dravidian politics or Tamil brand politics because DMK is neither sincere in its Dravidian branding nor to the Tamil cause. Then the only population that DMK can bank in near future is minority and the people from other states.

The Tamil desia parties may not attract much support in the state because they wants to strip the family card, voting right and other fundamental rights of Indian citizens to the people of others states settled in Tamil Nadu. Such brand of politics is quite dangerous albeit; it is going to be successful or not. By brainwashing Tamil people as not Hindus, the Tamil Desia parties are doing nothing but what EV Ramasamy Naicker has done in his entire lifetime.

To counter Tamil desia parties, DMK is appears to be surrendering itself to certain Christian missionaries and other minority religion and sowing consciously the seeds of religious disharmony. The tradition of DMK is that it had sowed the seeds of hatred towards Brahmins, Hindus, God and the religious practices of Hinduism in the past. Now the same DMK appears to be sowing the seeds of hatred towards Tamil people by positing itself as mascot of certain religious missionaries.

It looks like Tamil Nadu is going to fall between devil and dead sea and the only hope looks at the sight is AIADMK alliance which people consider as very progressive and positive alliance.

The state under EPS is growing steadily and the poor and downtrodden people have started to see the fruits of good governance of EPS. Narendra Modi at the centre and EPS in the state alone can save India and Tamil Nadu which people have started to recognize slowly.

Hope Tamil Nadu will not give any room for minority appeasement politics of DMK and will instead support the politics of development, national security and sab ka vikas which are the governance principle of Modij, MGR and Amma.

Will going against nation help Congress to win the election?

0

Recently Rahul Gandhi recently gives a statement that “China blocks move to ban Masood Azhar ‘weak’ Narendra Modi scared” rather than the words of opposition party it more  sounds like the words of spokesperson of Jaiesh –e –Mohammed on India, USA, France and UK failure in UNSC just because of  China blocking Masood Azhar’s designation as a global terrorist and this is not the first time when Rahul Gandhi seems to be happy just because Modi govt fails at something and he gets a topic to blame the Modi government and make it a baseless issue but he forget in his vote bank politics he became the poster boy of Pakistan and he doesn’t understand the simple difference but raising question against the govt and raising question against the nation.

You will get the idea that how much he is popular in Pakistan, these terrorist outfit organizations by this that in an open interview given to the news agency in Pakistan the head of terrorist outfit Lashkar e Taiba Hafiz Saeed consider Rahul Gandhi as a good person and when a terrorist praises you that it’s not a good sign for that person and for that political party because they have done something wrong with the nation by which these terrorist organizations are benefited and in case of Congress and Rahul Gandhi. There is not a one or two things there are plenty of blunders done by them. Like after 9/11 congress party didn’t take any serious action just like Modi govt did on a couple of occasion after URI and Pulwama attacks. Rahul Gandhi also designated a terrorist as Masood Azhar Ji and asked the same question which these terrorist want to ask, they continued asking for the proofs of the attack in Pulwama and speaking the same language of Pakistan and terrorist.

This terrorist organizations like Rahul Gandhi and Congress party so much just because they know that this is the only party which can help them to fulfill their prophecy of Ghazwa e Hind and recent incident prove this true and they know this is the party which compromised the security of nation on the name of Dalali in defense deal also. They know this party doesn’t possess that leadership and decision making quality which current government has and which is very dangerous for them. Rahul Gandhi just wants to win the election and become the PM of the country at any cost for that even he has to compromise with the national interest or just to speak the same language of terrorists and Pakistan.

Maybe just because of this at that time Mahatma Gandhi wanted to disband the Congress.

Biju Patnaik and Naveen Patnaik: The marked differences

0

On 5th March the 103rd birth anniversary of Bijayananda Patnaik, popularly known as Biju Patnaik and Biju Babu to us Odias was celebrated with pomp across Odisha. It was on expected lines as Naveen Patnaik his son rules the state and the ruling party is named after Biju Babu (Biju Janata Dal). Tall claims were made by BJD leaders on how Naveen Patnaik is carrying forward Biju Babu’s ideology. But is he really carrying forward Biju Babu’s legacy?

To understand that we need to delve into history. Biju Babu ruled Odisha for a very brief period but is known as builder of modern Odisha. All most all the institutions and Industries build by Odisha government till date find its genesis either to the tenure of Biju Babu or Shri Harekrushna Mahatab. Even after a long and controversial political career Biju Babu had friends across party lines and he ruled over the hearts of Odias and continues to do so even after his death. The level of reverence Biju Babu enjoys can be known from the fact that heroic tales of his deeds in Baku (Azerbaijan) to Indonesia, his role in world war two, his role in Indian Independence struggle and first Kashmir War have been retold thousand times in villages and cities of Odisha and have become part of folk tales of Odisha.

Its been more than 21 years since Biju Babu passed away and Odisha politics has changed a lot. Moving to contemporary Odisha, the party named after Biju Babu and headed by his son who is party president and CM continues to rule Odisha for 18 long years unbated. The party and its president enjoy the legacy of Biju Babu but have they inherited the vision and principles of Biju Babu? The question isn’t hard to answer for anyone who keep tracks with Odisha Politics.

A lot has been written about Biju Babu and his son Naveen Patnaik but rarely have both been compared. Let’s start from the style of Politicking,

Biju Babu was called India’s buccaneer by J.L Nehru. Even though Biju Babu was employed with RIAF during world war two while fighting Axis Power on one hand on the other hand was busy helping Indian National Congress and airlifting several congress leaders to prevent them from getting caught. His involvement in Indonesian Freedom struggle had earned him a great fame. When Biju babu joined politics, he was a successful pilot and wealthy businessmen, he had established Kalinga airlines and owned several other industries.

Naveen Patnaik joined politics in his late 50’s, he was a famous socialite and the only mentionable thing he did was to run a boutique and write three books. His entry to politics was by chance and rather due to political vacuum created due to fall of congress and death senior Patnaik. Due to intra-party rivalry no consensus could be reached on who was going to lead the then Janata Party in Odisha. Naveen Patnaik had to be roped in to stop the party from disintegrating.

Differences in personality

Biju Babu was known for speaking his mind, he traveled frequently throughout Odisha and was easily accessible. From going and meeting tribals and workers to listening to the grievances of state government employees he took problems head-on. Biju Babu was a strong proponent of local governance and during his tenure in order to stop illegal liquor trading he appointed a tribal woman as his adviser giving her powers of a superintendent of police. Whereas Naveen Patnaik has a very different approach. He prefers to lead a secluded life and when in public meeting, prefers to read his written speech. His interaction with press has been minimal and rarely comments on any issue. Whereas many comments of Biju Babu used to raise great controversy inside the assembly as well as outside, the problem doesn’t even arise in Naveen Patnaik’s way of functioning.

The tales of flamboyance of Biju Babu was well known in Odisha the case with Naveen Babu is just the opposite although he is the richest minister in the cabinet, he leads a very simple life style. Biju Babu had a habit of publicly targeting his opponent whereas Naveen rarely indulges in such rhetoric. Even when Naveen Patnaik has handled his enemies it is mostly through deceit rather than taking them head on, his decisions have surprised his friends and enemies likewise. From suspending Bijay Mohapatra and Nalini Mohanty to Baijyanta Panda and Damodar Rout, Naveen Patnaik has always kept the events low key. Whereas Biju Babu was known for creating leaders starting from Nandini Satpathy to Bijoy Mohaptra, Nalini Mohanty, Srikant Jena and Damodar Rout. In Naveen Patnaik’s regime, the second rung leadership within BJD is conspicuously absent.

Relation with bureaucracy

I find stark differences in the way bureaucracy has functioned during Biju Babu’s regime and the current regime headed by Naveen Patnaik. Biju was dead against red tapism and bureaucratic hurdles. When Biju came to know about the tales of corruption of bureaucrats’ and woes of common man, he proclaimed that citizens should beat up all corrupt public servants but send a telegraph to him before that. This resulted in beating of government servants at several places.

When Biju Babu came to power his instruction to officials was “be loyal to me not to the government but to the destinies of this state, to the propensity of the people.” One humorous story goes around that when a traffic policeman caught a truck driver for over speeding while he was going with construction material for Paradip Port the truck driver replied to policeman that speed suggested by traffic policemen would delay the work of port by several years and Biju Babu wanted everyone to work at top gear. These incidents are enough to understand the tumultuous relation Biju Babu shared with Bureaucracy.

Naveen Patnaik dealing with bureaucracy has been completely different. Naveen Patnaik’s over dependence on bureaucracy has always been in public domain. From Naveen Patnaik’s arrival in political scenario of Odisha till June 2012, he more or else was dependent on Pyari Mohan Mohapatra who was principal secretary to Biju Babu once upon a time for all decisions ranging from politics to administration, he was often considered to be the proxy leader of BJD. It was the attempted coup by Pyari Mohan Mohaptra in June 2012 when Naveen Patnaik was on his trip to London that changed the situation and Pyari Mohan vanished from Odisha politics.

Although he had launched a political outfit it didn’t find much support from people as he was never a grassroot leader. After Pyari Mohan’s departure his place has been allegedly taken by VK Pandian who is Private secretary to Naveen Patnaik. He is widely believed to be behind ousting of popular BJD MP Baijyanta Panda and he is said to have held considerable clout in the ticket distribution process during 2014 election. Recently senior leader Dr Damodar Rout who has been a close aide of Biju babu was ousted from party because he complained of Pandian’s interference in BJD in several public domains.

Although Naveen Patnaik’s continues to use Biju Babu’s legacy, that can be observed from the name of the ruling party and large number of schemes and projects named after Biju Babu but the style of functioning of father and son are poles apart. Although comparing Biju Babu with anyone would be undermining his legacy considering his large presence in national politics and even international politics but this article is just and endeavor to bring into light the fact that Naveen’s way of functioning is a departure from Biju Babu’s way of functioning and not a continuity of it as many of the current generation seem to think.

Future of India with NaPak-istan

If you go deep into the idea of Pakistan, you can clearly find out it was built on hate against HINDUstan. Both countries were divided on the basis of Religion which created Pakistan in a hope that the future of this land will be peaceful.

Now we are in 2019, even after seven decades, we are suffering from the same problem in one of our states Jammu & Kashmir. After 3 conventional war with Pakistan and infinite Proxy war since the late 80s, there is no sign of permanent solution coming out. Self-claimed ‘Liberals & Lutyens Intellectual’ believe that Kashmir issue is the sole hurdle behind Indo-Pak smooth relationship but the reality is Kashmir is not the problem itself, it is a mere excuse for them to target India. They will keep bleeding India even after Kashmir issue gets resolved ‘peacefully’ which is nearly impossible. Fighting with India is economically and morally beneficial for people who control Pakistan likely ISI & Army earn their livelihood from China and Saudi on condition to keep disrupting India economically and culturally.

There is a famous saying “you can change your friends but you cannot change your neighbour”. Well, this is not wrong but neither true. India has successfully changed her neighbour on the East front. Earlier we had East-Pakistan now we have friendly country Bangladesh. When we talk about ‘permanent solution’ of Pakistan then answer lies within our history i.e. 1971, India has to repeat her history on the west front. In answer to “Bleed India with thousand cuts”, we have to “Break Pakistan into 3-4 parts”.

Mid of next Ddcade will be the best available opportunity for India as that time we will be near $5 trillion economy, have strengthened our defence and more importantly strong political leadership like today we have. In Pakistan Balochis, Sindhis and Pashtuns are fighting for their freedom. The economy of Pakistan is going down and down. Their nuclear bluff gets blasted recently after airstrike by IAF which shows that India can manage Pakistan nuclear strike capability through diplomatic and military means.

Duty, democracy and dream of new India

Each general election is important. It determines who will govern the state, exercise executive power, shape the legislative agenda and, through all of it, have an impact on the lives of all citizens. But some elections are perhaps more critical than others. With the Election Commission announcing dates for the 17th Lok Sabha elections, this is perhaps one of them. And that is not because of the nature of the contestants in the fray, but because of the position India finds itself in. The country is at the cusp of multiple transitions and the next regime will have the challenging task of navigating us through it. And that is why it is time for both parties and voters to step back and recognize what is at stake.

Democracy cannot survive without both citizens’ participation and politicians’ accountability. Since the politicians would do nothing to inform the youth about the socio-economic problems facing the nation today and only exploit them, it is the responsibility of civil society organisations and the media to educate young people about the issues involved and their high stakes in the fruits of development.

With less than a month to go for the 2019 general elections, all political parties are gearing up for the next round of hectic election campaigning, hoping to bag the maximum number of seats in the Lok Sabha. One segment of the electorate all parties have set their sights on are the first-time voters, whose numbers are going to go up to a whopping 13.3 crore – twice the size of France’s population – by the time the next general polls arrive.

Given this demographic tilt, it is not surprising that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his 2017 Independence Day speech, had especially invoked this electoral constituency. “January 1, 2018 will not be an ordinary day – those born in this century will start turning 18. They are bhagya vidhatas of our nation,” said Modi.

A little over 15% of the total population of voters in the country, first-time voters seem to be holding the keys to the making and unmaking of political parties’ electoral destinies. However, to take advantage of this privileged position, the youth need to show up and vote. So far, like in most other places in the world, voter turnout among the young in India has remained disappointing. While the overall voter turnout also may not be worth celebrating, young voters’ turnout has been five to six percentage points lower than the average turnout since 1996. As a recent Indian Express report showed, by April, less than 30% in the age group of 18-19 years were enrolled as voters in a majority of states. It remains to be seen how many in this age bracket (about 4.85 crore in population) would make it to the polling booths next year (or this year in case of early elections).

It is important to remember that instead of always pontificating to the youth about their role and responsibilities, political leaders should remind themselves of their own role to fulfill the needs and aspirations of the youth, particularly with respect to jobs. If their expectations are not met, a backlash is unavoidable. Once the youth become restive, chaos cannot be far behind. India is in the middle of an economic transition. While the contribution of agriculture to the GDP has steadily declined, the number of people engaged in agriculture remains disproportionately high.

The contribution of services to GDP is steadily increasing, but the number of people it absorbs is not enough, given the scale of the Indian work force. And manufacturing has remained a weak point. So the first big task for the next government will be managing this transition better: improving agricultural incomes; smoothening the transition out of it; creating jobs in manufacturing; continuing to sustain the services momentum; and all through improving the social safety net through welfare for the poorest citizens.

India is in the middle of a geographical transition. People are rapidly moving out of rural to urban areas, with a range of smaller towns proliferating. Our cities and towns lack the infrastructure to cope with this shift. India is confronting a geopolitical transition. The old international order is crumbling, with the retreat of the US; a new order is coming to life, with the rise of China, but its contours are not clear. This presents both an opportunity and a threat. India is also in the middle of a democratic transition. Older institutions confront a crisis of credibility and legitimacy but the solution lies in strengthening, not replacing them. The balance between efficiency and accountability is a work in progress. There are similarly other transitions — in the realm of energy, social values, technology and media — that will have a wide-ranging impact on the way State is governed.

Arithmetic, alliances, campaign blitz of leaders, issues of identity and political polemics will capture the headlines in the next 60 days. It is time to ask India’s political parties what they have in mind to steer the country through the big transitions. This should be the barometer for judging who governs the country for the next five years. And that is why it is important that parties pledge to keep the nature of the conversation informed and civil.

All contestants must pledge to avoid hate speech, inflame passions, and instead tell citizens their road map for a better India. Elections are an opportunity to find the answers to big questions, educate the public as well as seek their legitimacy for policy. We call on all stakeholders to raise the bar and strive to make the 2019 election one which does this.
