Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the best example for greatness and gracefulness always go together

0

The gracefulness of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in reaching out to all the opposition parties before the start of the parliament session and assuring them that democracy is not just about numbers, every constructive views and opinions of every individual member of the parliament is valid and important deserve special appreciation.

It is very rare to see such a humble and graceful leader like PM Modi in the contemporary world.

The epic poet and Sanskrit scholar Kalidasa in his work Shakunthalam has described so beautifully that trees with full of fruits always bend down and so are clouds laden with water will come down in the form of rain.  The same way great men will be humbler with their great victory and not arrogant.

Bhavanti namraastarava phalodgamaih
Navaambubhirbhoomivilambino ghanaah
Anuddhataah satpurushaah samriddhibhih

Narendra Modi with such a brute majority, remains so simple, humble, graceful and had reached out to all opposition parties to cooperate the government to make India a great county. Most of them had abused and accused PM Modi during election by calling him chor, divisive force etc., and still Modi assured them that every views and opinions of theirs count and not the number of seats BJP won. On the contrary, the dynast even while thanking the voters who elected him from Wayanad abused PM Modi and his sister blamed the party workers in Amethi for defeating the dynast and electing Smriti Irani.

Look at the politics of gracefulness and humility of Modi versus arrogance, anger and the pride of entitlement of the members of the dynasty.

Indians hope that all the opposition parties would realize that they should allow the parliament session to take place and only by disrupting the parliament session and playing negative and hate politics, they have reached the brink of extinction from Indian politics.

PM Narendra Modi is the dream and aspiration of millions and millions of Indians. Therefore anyone abusing or spreading hate and negative politics against Modi, the embodiment of honesty, corruption free governance, development centric politics and vision for sab ka vikas, people of India will not tolerate and excuse.

Through spreading lies and hate politics in an organized way the party of the dynast and DMK would have won some seats in down south but lie has short life span and truth alone would triumph at the end. The dynasts of both the congress party and DMK must realize the above truth that they cannot win election continuously through politics of lies and negativity.

All those who have elected Modi and wants India’s development and sab ka vikas must engage in spreading all good initiatives of Modi to people at least once weekly so that India is filled with the spirit and energy of positivity and agenda of development and not hatred and negative politics of opposition parties and the dynast.

Aarabhante’lpamevaa’jjnaah kaamam vyagraa bhavanti cha
Mahaarambhaah kritadhiyastishthanti cha niraakulaah

Great men start their journey in big way and accomplish the task unruffled in spite of its magnitude but on the contrary, the fools would start their journey in a small way and would then struggle to complete it.

The mission and objectives of PM Modi is great where he wants to make sure that even the last man in the street to develop, prosper, must have high quality of life, all luxuries and comfort, must be responsible to build New India and must take pride of our Bharat mata.

Whereas the objectives of most of the opposition parties are to defeat India, defeat Modi, divide India, come to power to loot, hamper development and progress our nation, be a partner of divisive forces, engage in minority appeasement, divide the caste and religion; the best example being the attempt of congress party in Karnataka to divide Lingayat etc.

If not the opposition parties, let us be responsible in spreading all good initiatives of PM Modi to our people so that the good governance and PM Modi’s journey of victory continuous and not of those tukde tukde gangs or dynastic parties and the politics of nepotism and corruption.

Neo-liberals and slaves of dynastic politics must come out of Gandhi parivar to save Congress

0

The neo-liberals who claim to be the custodians of free speech, liberation and democracy in India must first liberate themselves from the culture of dynastic politics and must realize that plenty of leaders are there in congress party to lead and not just the unteachable dynast alone.

The congress men can remain helpless because they are born in the prison of dynastic culture and all they know is also only to live inside the prison. They neither aspire for freedom nor know how to live in freedom. The problem of those prisoners is not about the love for prison but they do not want another prisoner to be their leader. It is quite natural that no slave would like another slave to be their leader. Naturally all prisoners and slaves would like to listen to the warden of the prison or to the master than to a fellow prisoner. If at all they ever the prisoners discuss with each other, would be more about how to escape from the prison and not for seeking freedom and dignity within the prison. In the prison every prisoner would only compete to show their commitment and unconditional love to the warden of the prison.

The neo-liberals, prisoners and slaves of the dynastic politics in congress party must realize that the NEW INDIA designed and defined by Narendra Modi demands aspiration, responsibility, commitment and duty consciousness from everyone towards the nation and not towards one family.

Therefore Desh-Bhakti and not Pariwar Bhakthi is needed.

The irony is that every post-retirement congress man wants the dynast to do surgery within the party and restructure it but should not exclude them. The post-retirement dynast bhaktas wants the dynast to bring more young faces in the Congress party but all those oldies should be included. When every old and out dated congress men wants new and young faces in the party but they are not willing to give up their space, how the party can be re-structured. In order to firm up their space, they are renewing their bhakti to the family and repeat that only the dynast alone is fit to lead the party.

The problem congress party face today is more due to the culture of sycophancy and dynasty.  The dynast in true sense as TIME magazine described is un-teachable because all he knows is only to abuse Modi. Even after his repeated poll defeat if he dares to say Modi won due to lies, even Gods from heaven cannot help the dynast or his party.

Indians demand and expect reasonable honesty and commitment from its leaders. PM Modi has brought the new rule in Indian politics that TRUTH ALONE TRIUMPH hereafter in India. In the last parliamentary election, a very well-articulated and concerted effort was made both by the dynast and other tukde tukede gangs to sell and sow the seeds of lies, negative politics and politics of hatred against Modi.

India is the land of several sacred spiritual masters like Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa, Swami Vivekananda etc., as well as the incarnation of Lord in human form – Ram and Krishna. The holy land and its people have proved that truth and dharma alone shall win and not untruth and hate politics. The victory of DMK-Congress in Tamil Nadu may be a temporary victory but it will not sustain. That is why even after the victory of DMK still its remains powerless.

PM Modi re-kindled the ancient Bhakti era, made people aspirational, made people responsible, accountable and participate in building the New India.

Modiji and BJP are not engaged in politics but are engaged in governance, empowerment, development and economic growth of poor people.  On the contrary, the party of dynast and other tukede tukede gangs are still interested only politics for power to loot, spreading lies, negative politics and hate politics.

What is happening in congress party after the poll defeat is a very good case study for the people of India.  It looks like the party had existed only for power and only because of power.  When the party lost power, the party has gone totally clueless and eccentric.  Is that party India want, time has come, people of India must ask?

Need of the hour is trust and support. Modi alone can save India. Therefore people must pledge their unconditional trust and support to Modi and not to tukde tukde gangs. Corruption free governance, governance fully dedicated for development, sab ka vikas, national security, empowerment of poor, governance free of corruption and nepotism by Modi must be supported.  Let us pledge our unconditional support to Modi and let us build New India.

Are Good intentions enough for a policy to be good?

0

A policy that works best for the people is the policy that is initiated with good intentions. There has been this saying for a long time now “if your intentions are good, certainly good happens with you” this phrase holds intact in the world of philosophy and the karma Siddhanta, but in the policy, Good intentions alone don’t bring out good results. Let’s analyse what has been happening with only good intention policies in our country, especially Andhra Pradesh.

The newly formed Government of Andhra Pradesh has been taking many decisions right away. Many of them are certainly implementable and executable. But I sense a hickup with the education policy which has grabbed enough attention in the media. The newly devised policy aims at spending ₹ 15000/- per child holding a white ration card on education. Well, it’s all with good intentions. Not an ounce of doubt in the newly formed Government on its integrity. It is not a scam in any manner. But when we see this policy from the history of education policies that have been in the state, we might sense greater destruction to Government institutions as it has been with the higher education policy in the state.

In the 80s and 90s, a person after completing higher secondary school was always aiming to get into a government college. The ones who couldn’t get into Government colleges took up admissions in private colleges. The scenario reversed today. Those who are unable to afford private colleges are getting into Government colleges in intermediate education.

The engineering education has worsened especially in the twin states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh after the fee reimbursement scheme introduced by the government then. Thousands of private colleges popped up and reaped the money from this scheme without even providing the least infrastructural facilities. And significantly a number of these colleges are run by benamis of MLAs. Now you see who is actually benefitted by such a scheme.

Yes. There is a need for quality education for many. But does this scheme solve the problem? Certainly a NO. And would rather push the whole education system into an even worse condition than the already existing. While the whole country is debating and discussing National Education Policy, this scheme would only push back our public education system in the state to worst conditions in coming future.

Many would certainly benefit from this scheme, but at the same time, we would be having many more adverse effects from this Good Intentions scheme. Once the parent gets these 15000 rupees as a direct benefit transfer, the parent would certainly want his ward to get into a private school and the Government schools which are yet to be mordernised will be empty and many Government schools would have to be shut down. Instead, the Government should completely focus on infrastructure in the Public Education system.

Good intentions are not just enough to revamp any system. This scheme would lead to a devasted education system in the state.

Yet Another Resignation By Rahul Gandhi In 2019

0

Right after the results of 2019 Lok Sabha Assembly elections were declared, the Congress president, Rahul Gandhi decided to step down from his post. The resignation, as usual, was straight away rejected by the party but this time Rahul Gandhi so far seems to have made his mind up to stick with his resignation. Previously as well when in 2014, Rahul Gandhi served as the party’s vice president, he had decided to resign from his post just after Congress party’s dismal performance in the then Lok Sabha elections but his resignation was rejected and he quietly and with gratitude accepted to continue and was later even promoted to the president’s post. This time, in 21019, his resignation is seen as a mere remake of the 2014 drama but with a new twist of him insisting on his decision to step down rather than accepting the rejection of his resignation quietly and with gratitude.

Many people also see Rahul Gandhi’s 2019 resignation as a means of paving the way for a new and non-Nehru-Gandhi candidate to lead the Congress party. But what actually needs to be seen is whether or not Rahul Gandhi feels too responsible for the failures of his party because then only his resignation and efforts of bringing in a new non-dynast candidate can be termed as genuine. And if he truly believes to be responsible then people within the Congress party and outside the party need to see into it whether, after his resignation and a new Congress president, the influence of Nehru-Gandhi family within the party ends or not. If the Nehru-Gandhi family continues to influence and make big decisions in the party from behind the scenes, then the resignation of Rahul Gandhi and a new president would make no difference at all.

For a party that has for decades been based on and run by only a single family, it would be nearly impossible to rid itself of the evils of dynasty politics in the minds of people. And nothing less than a complete overhaul of the party from the most basic ranks seems to be the option for the Congress party. The Gandhis need to go, all of them followed by their faithful within the party. A new democratically elected cadre needs to take the role of leadership collectively and then from them a leader for future needs to be nurtured. Maybe a Southward inclination might help Congress regain some ground as the party still holds some ground there.

At last, whatever becomes of Congress party is what the people of India will get in addition to other political parties and we would have to wait at least till the next elections to see if Congress makes any democratic and people friendly changes in its guard or not.

The story of long working hours in india

0

As the law clearly suggest that an adult in India is supposed to work not more than 9 hours a day and 48 hours a week. Somehow that does not seem to be the case (even on a minimum wage ) in our industrial society and I just can’t help but wonder why.

Here are some of the reasons and questions that I wish to discuss that I think are the behind it.

1. Does working long make us more productive? if the answer is no why do we do it?

Most productive countries in the world

Above as you can see is the data by OECD which clearly suggests that long working hours does not necessarily mean more productivity. I would like to make that judgment for yourself. But that is a talk of the developed world as someone would say we are in a developing country. Here we have compulsions such as family, money, and laws (which are not adhered by most factories).

In my experience, I have found that (as I also work in a factory like this) most of the workers in the factories tend to think they are putting their family first by working under such dire conditions (working under 50 degrees heat and not the most hygienic place) and won’t move to another job as they fear their family will suffer financially because of this. I think that is wrong you are making your family a burden on yourself rather than the strength you need to go on.

Your family needs you to be alive and healthy not a ragged person burned to a crisp from inside.

2. Fear, Illiterate and intimidation.

According to the census data in India about 26% of our population is illiterate. Here is a question. Where do the illiterates go for work? Who gives them jobs and on what conditions?

If you take a look at the European mass immigration issue it is primarily for the reason of cheap labor (which means less educated people and will do some kind of work). Our Indian factories especially smaller factories are not so far behind in this practice many of these factories hire private labor contractors which are modestly educated and don’t have much regard for human values.

They bring people into the factories and in turn, these people are exploited for working longer hours doing mundane work which has no value in today’s world.

Almost everyone knows that it is wrong even the person himself but still no action is taken why?. Fear is the reason and intimidation from the higher-ups such as owners and managers themselves. Then the question is what can we do? We live in a world of hierarchies and there are always people who are up the ladder even on those owners such as our labor inspectors but what are they doing? (I smell corruption)

3. What our work culture values.

Somehow I feel that we have lost our touch with work and life balance they are often mixed up. Sacrifices are made and they need to be at certain times but when you are working on minimum wage as most of the young Indians are then is it healthy? Also, I have found (me also) most of the young people are not aware of the laws that are there for them this uneducatedness about their basic rights is what fuel’s this culture.

In my experience, I have found that bosses usually give brownie points to people those who stay late and that is giving encouragement to a wrong practice instead judge your employees on their productivity make the best use of their time.

As employers & owners,  people need to look beyond profits think about the society in whole your employees can also be your customers treat them with respect they deserve and nobody is your slave.

As employees,  people need to learn to respect themselves in regards to their family and friends the balance of your work and life is in your hands and if someone does not value that then it’s better to move.

What does ail the medical profession?

0

This week we receive the familiar news, attacks on doctors in a medical institute. Incidences of these attacks occur with alarming regularity and seem to be rising. This follows with the regular strike, candle light marches and social media outrage. Then the wide spread condemnation follows with assurances by the government of “looking into the matter” until it occurs again. This brings us back to the question, what ails the medical profession?

Firstly, medical practitioners are almost always under tremendous pressure to deliver top quality medical care to the patients irrespective of the facilities available. At the frontlines, especially in the rural health centers, the lone doctor is responsible to treat patients ranging from a malaria to a cancer and is expected to produce best results irrespective of the diagnostic or treatment infrastructure that may be available at his disposal.

There is also pressure from the bureaucracy to treat all kinds of patients at the PHC level so that they can meet their targets and the promises made. Refusing a patient is not an option irrespective of the resources or the work load, that can invite destruction of the premises to the least and killing of the doctor at worst. The lone medical provider in the hinterland lives under constant fear of harassment by the local politicians or the media in case of slightest perception of noncooperation, the doctor becomes the easy soft target and that becomes a good story for the local press.

Second, the government hospitals are almost always understaffed, the premier ones such as AIIMS see nearly a lakh patients every day. The doctor is supposed to be at the top of his game at all times 24/7. The brunt of delivering frontline medical care falls on trainee doctors or residents, who are graduate doctors who slog through most difficult exams in the country and work for a measly stipend, often living hundreds of kilometers from their home town serving the local populace to get brutally beaten up, often even murdered for no fault of theirs!

Unfortunately, doctors are not a vote bank. They are perceived to have all made a fortune fleecing poor patients, and therefore beating them up somehow appears to be justice served.

Under-representation of medical practitioners in the legislature is also a part of the problem. It is somehow not on the priority list of the political players of the country to create laws that protect the doctors and the rights of the paramedical staff.

The medical associations, though very old, seem to have an insignificant impact on policymaking. They through judicial activism, the media or political lobbying must push for the creation of policy which ensures the protection of the doctors. Clear categorization of medical centers with respect to their capacity and infrastructure and a better doctor-patient ratio will help mitigate this problem. Medico-social workers can help patients avail correct medical treatment at the right time so that there is no flare up and the patient doesn’t reach the medical center when it’s too late. Informing the patients and relatives about the prognosis of the treatment in advance and consent recording procedures can also reduce the stress on the system.

However, in the wake of these attacks, it, therefore, falls on the doctors to create awareness of the prevailing situation in the country. Local medical associations must lobby with their local public representatives to create relevant laws and ensure their implementation. It is sacrosanct for the doctor to heal the wounds of the patients, but equally important for the fraternity to stand up for itself. Let for once, the doctor be in the wards treating patients, not being one!

Merchant Discount Rate [MDR]:

Getty Images

©ICC

A Diplomat amongst Politicians

Assessing the challenges before South Block’s new Czar

Ex- Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar’s appointment as the new External Affairs Minister has managed to turn more than just a few heads. The significance of the PM’s unexpected decision has not been lost to anyone. For a very long time, the Ministry of External Affairs was treated as a retirement home for political heavyweights, who were appointed to the position as a thank you for their services in the political world and not because of their competence in diplomacy or international relations. By choosing Ambassador Jaishankar for the job, the Prime Minister has signalled his intent to favour policy over politics.

Now when the new EAM seems to have dealt with all the congratulatory messages, perhaps it is time to set the wheels in motion for a tenure which promises lots of entertainment for the foreign policy enthusiasts, like me. From the U.S-China trade war, the Iranian Crisis to Brexit, South Block’s new Czar seems to have his plate full from the very beginning of his term.

The U.S-China trade war
Jaishankar’s appointment is also significant, because it comes at a time when the United States and China are locked in a bitter trade war. With threats of tariff increase and sanction flying openly from both sides, the implications on India could be heavy.

For starters, the current skirmish between the two heavyweights has raised the global financial temperature by manifolds. Already the domestic stock market is feeling the heat of this pointless showdown, with the Sensex and Nifty consistently showing an unpredictable trend.

Under Modi, India is also looking to dramatically expand its manufacturing sector to create the much needed jobs to lower distress among its youth. For that to happen, India needs investments from Chinese manufacturers, who specialise in job-intensive investment. Now, with Trump’s sanctions, Chinese companies may decide to funnel their investments away to a new market. And to ensure that the next destination of Chinese businesses is India, we need a pro-active government, led by an able South block.

A few years ago when asked in a conclave on whose side India should be in should there be a conflict between U.S and China? Jaishankar had famously replied, “India should pick a side, its own side.” This signals a right attitude for a man tasked with solving this enigmatic issue. Looking at his track record with China (resolution of the Doklam Crisis) and the United States (Jaishankar spearheaded the negotiations on the Nuclear treaty between India and U.S), it seems like the new EAM is chosen particularly with this issue in mind.

Iran and the Middle East
Being a developing economy, which guzzles oil like a hungry infant, India needs Iran and due to the sanctions imposed upon it, which has effectively destroyed its economy, Iran needs India. Because of the presence of government control over the oil production and the willingness to do business in rupee, Iran has emerged as a reliable source to fulfil India’s energy needs. The port of Chahbahar in Iran which India is developing is also strategically indispensable to us as it provides an alternative route to connect India and Afghanistan by bypassing the ever mischievous Pakistan.
On the other hand stands the United States, whom India cannot afford upsetting. From blacklisting of Jaish-e-Mohammed to the placement of Pakistan on the FATF grey list, the sole superpower’s extraordinary influence has opened one too many doors for India.

This has placed New Delhi in a dilemma, as it cannot afford to irk either Tehran or Washington. EAM Jaishankar has to use all the experience that he has accumulated over the past forty years, to navigate India through this complex situation.

Brexit and the changing global order
As India closes towards becoming a truly globalised economy, countries in the west are one by one closing their doors. It all started when the Britishers made their intentions clear with Brexit, telling the world that they wish to separate from the EU and want control over their border and this event in turn had a domino effect on the western world, with countries electing populist nationalist leaders, one by one, who in turn advocate a stronger protectionist policy for their country.

This could scuttle India’s vision of becoming an export powerhouse (see: make in India). Here, we need a person who can skillfully negotiate trade concessions with these financially hostile countries and provide India with an opportunity to fulfill its goals.

For years India was accused by its neighbour to possess a big brotherly attitude. A departure from this outlook was seen in the first term of the Modi government, when the Prime Minister chose Bhutan as the destination for his maiden foreign visit. Even in Modi 2.0, the PM’s choice was Maldives an important neighbour from a strategic viewpoint. Over the last five years, India has effectively isolated Pakistan by scuttling SAARC in favour of BIMSTEC, extended multibillion dollar loans to countries like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to curb the menace of the ‘string of pearl’ and has somehow managed to be on the good books of all its neighbours.

The only thing left for the new EAM to do is to take the already great relationships to even new heights and cement India’s position as the true leader of its backyard.

Over the years Dr. Jaishankar has proved his mettle with the Indian Foreign Service, dexterously solving complicated issues like the Civil Nuclear deal and the Doklam Standoff; hence the expectation from him in this job rises even more. Would he be able to replicate his success in this new avatar? Only time will tell.

What possibly is brewing in Nitish Kumar’s mind?

0

Almost immediately after the NDA victory, the veteran politician started giving anti BJP signals. It started by not joining the ministry. Then JDU Vice President Prashant Kishor decided to join Mamata Banerjee. Then JDU decided to go solo outside Bihar, restricting its NDA allegiance to only one state. Finally it opted out of supporting Triple Talaq bill. Now each of these acts, if seen in isolation appears routine. Prashant Kishor campaigned for Jagan Reddy behind the garb of being a professional campaigner. JDU never ever supported uniform civil code so the triple talaq stand is nothing but consistent. Not joining the ministry is explained to be a “political respect” issue. And finally alliance outside Bihar hardly matters as JDU is simply non existent there. Even Shiv Sena, the complicated partner of BJP, gave candidates in various constituencies of Bengal this election. One may also point out that after deserting BJP and then coming back, Nitish hardly has any room left to ditch BJP again.

However all these points notwithstanding, it can hardly be without significance that all these happened in a short span. Then came Ajay Alok’s resignation: Now juxtapose this with Alok’s recent comment about Mamata. Prashant Kishor’s move and destruction of RJD: Doesn’t a pattern become clearly visible?

With Mandalization and OBCization of BJP it is only a matter of time that Yadav votes start shifting to BJP. It can happen even in next years assembly election. Same can happen with Mahadalits too. Where do all these leave Mr. Kumar?

There is only one group that seems to be steadfastly against BJP and will remain against BJP in forceable future. Congress and left parties are no longer being taken seriously as a counter to BJP. In this situation, Bihar Muslim vote seems to be up for grab. Could it be that Nitish is aiming for that vote? 2019 was an epoch making election which shattered many conventions regarding vote bank.

Nitish being an astute politician with corruption free good governance image probably is counting on natural decay of BJP fortune and trying to expand his base. So that if opportunity comes he can “be there”. The expansion of base part is a necessity for him and in the current situation where Congress and RJD are in disarray, Nitish may become the new leader with a solid Muslim vote bank. What is there in future no body knows but brilliant politicians always keep planning for future!
