Shiv Sena aligning with Congress not just political blunder, butchery of people’s mandate

0

The childish threat of Shiv Sena that it would join hand with NCP and congress and form government if BJP doesn’t make its dynast as Chief Minister of Maharashtra is nothing but the conscious decision of Uddhav Thackeray, chief of Shiv Sena to follow the path of Chandrababu Naidu of TDP to go with congress and finally who got eliminated from Andhra Pradesh politics.

Shiv Sena has every right to demand its pound of flesh from BJP but the party should not serve threat to BJP of its love for congress just to make the dynast of Shiv Sena as chief minister of Maharashtra.

The core vote base of Shiv Sena in Maharashtra is the hard core Maharashtra manus or Marathas.  On the contrary the core vote base of BJP is predominantly non-Marathas or in simple term, Indians. Relatively the neutral Maharashtrians also support congress party the way they support BJP.

When Shiv Sena and congress come together, the core marathas vote would shift from Shiv Sena to NCP and non-maratha proponents or otherwise called Indians in broader sense would shift to BJP intoto.

In near future, both Shiv Sena and congress are likely to lose their core vote base.  Maharashtra politics is going to be between NCP and BJP. Probably NCP chief Sharad Pawar would have sensed this possibility and that is why he is persuading congress to support Shiv Sena and simultaneously showing carrot to Shiv Sena.

Shiv Sena has to abandon its core ideology and princely blood nationalistic politics to come to power with the help of congress party. Indian electorates would allow some dilution of the core political ideology by the political parties that they support but never forgive and forget the party that abandons its core ideology for power.

Today the left parties have disappeared due to their senseless politics of supporting congress party to keep BJP away from power. Left was always seen as party of poor and working class and congress was described by left as party of rich and wealthy and those who exploit the poor and working class. When the left party decided to support congress party, it had lost its core vote base and the result is left party has gone invisible in Indian politics.

In one bullet, NCP can kill both birds viz., Shiv Sena and Congress so that a new dynasty politics NCP can create may be the thinking of NCP chief.

In the last assembly election too BJP emerged as single largest party but was a few seats short of majority. NCP chief offered his support but BJP refused and resumed talk with Shiv Sena and then formed the government. Both in Maharashtra and in India, BJP, Modi and Amit Shah remain very principled and honest and are interested only in development and sab ka vikas and not power or position.

If some ideological differences were the reason for Shiv Sena to move away from BJP that can be accepted but the demand of making Uddhav Thackeray’s son Aditya Thackeray as Chief Minister of Maharashtra because Thackeray family wants a Chief Minister from their family and BJP does not support such wish, it would to join hand with congress party is absurd, bizarre and unimaginable in the world politics.

Shiva Sena is walking the path of Chandra Babu Naidu of TDP who wants to create some political sensation, joined hands with Congress to abuse Modi. But the people Andhra Pradesh taught life time lesson to TDP and now it looks like TDP is trying to win the love of BJP to resurrect itself.

Shiv Sena is not just making a political blunder but committing a crime on democracy and butchery of peoples mandate by joining with congress party. Sooner than later Maharashtra people will certainly get a wonderful chance to exile Shiv Sena and Congress from Indian politics forever.

Support BJP and Modi to make India free from corruption, dynastic politics and nepotism and hate mongering. Modi wants to develop India and whereas dynastic parties want to develop own family and make their family members Chief Minister etc. Let us save India but extending our unconditional support Modi.

How Britain’s Labour Party forcefully silences Indian Jewish critics

I am an anamoly, at times I am a minority and at times I am a micro minority at times I am a atomic micro minority at times I am a human being.

I am a Gujarati and an Indian and a Jew and a bene Yisraeli and a Zionist and pro India and pro Israel and somewhere my voice as a human being is swept away. I am forced to speak up about the injustices heaped on me and my community of 3 people of Bene Yisrael, Gujarati Indian Jews in whole of Europe of 585 million people. The three being myself, my wife and my daughter.

The Metropolitan Police, Labour controlled Harrow Council and Jeremy Corbyn’s Office have turned our lives upside down since I criticised his party’s and his largesse towards Pakistani Muslim community and surrounding himself with acolytes and lackeys who are anti Indian, anti Hindu, anti Semitic and anti Jewish and anti Israeli and antiTrump and even anti USA through and through.

I had written to Jeremy Corbyn in June and July that violent anti Hindu anti Indian and anti Modi rallies will be taking place outside Indian High Commission and this will lead to bloodshed, arson, wanton acts of violence against Indians, Hindus, Sikhs and Jains and any patriot Indian joining the pro India Independence Day festivities.

I wrote to him in August and September that since he did not heed my emails, violence took place and a pregnant woman who came for Independence Day celebrations was kicked in the stomach by Pakistani goons and she went into labour , her husband has his hair shaven off and fingers crushed, an old Indian woman’s hair was pulled and her glass crushed by Pakistani goons, a Sikh older boy’s turban was taken off and Pakistani women and men with beards and mullah headdress tried to lynch him calling him traitor. I also wrote to Jeremy Corbyn that such anti Indian rallies send a message that Indians are not welcome in London and it is being taken over by Islamists and jihadi mindset holding fundamentalists.

We were attending as Jewish Indian couple and my wife’s tichel Jewish partial head covering was torn off by Pakistani Muslim woman and my kipah was taken off with force and spat on by Muslim Pakistani men . My daughter was all shaken up. We decided to leave immediately and couldn’t come to the Indian high commission due to this racist anti Indian riot allowed to take place by Labour controlled city mayor Sadiq Khan, Jeremy Corbyn (who claimed that Indian patriots need to have ‘their heads beaten in so they know what’s right and wrong’ in Jan 2019) and the Labour Party which has become anti Indian anti Modi and anti Hindu anti Israel anti Jewish and anti Zionist through and through without shame or remorse.

I decided to recreate a video of my daughter singing Yerushalayim to send to Bibi Netanyahu to rouse Likud troops before the election .

I titled it Jewish Queen Esther lioness of Jewish people asks Corbyn to resign now and this video was on YouTube and I was called by Jeremy Corbyn’s Office to remove it immediately or if not ‘there will be repercussions and consequences and we will section you and drug you forever, don’t mess with us, Jew dog’. I can’t take this to the Met Police because I can’t afford to bribe them enough and they sell themselves to highest bidder. Maybe one day!!

And on 20th of September days after I had officially become a complainant to Equalities and Human Rights Commission inquiry into antisemitism in Labour Party, a mental health act application was made to section me as per the threat given to me. The illegal action was disturbing and a social suicide for my wife and I. So many people came in without so much as flashing a badge, three were freelance reporters, two were Momentum and Labour activists masquerading as Medical staff, and seven police officers all from Harrow Met police.

I believe that the justice of the peace was lied to and the emotional stress and trauma caused to me and my family for the illegal placing of my name in MHA has been detrimental to my career and my life. We are now forced to sell our home to leave London. Illegal misuse of MHA on me has led to such social marginalisation and has led to social suicide. This was a politically motivated use of MHA and misapplied to my name. Such illegal action meant that I am now demanding an immediate inquiry take place ASAP to right this wrong as this has led to my rights as a British citizen to be curtailed and my rights to live a happy free and confident life has been damaged and curtailed and my rights and that of my family to a private free life without interference .

Since my official complaint to Jeremy Corbyn and Labour Party,I was threatened by his office that if I do not take back my complaint and excuse myself from inclusion in the EHRC investigation into Antisemitism in Labour Party as one of the complainants, I will have to ‘watch my back and if you continue pushing this, we will drug you forever and destroy you etc….’ , on the day of the illegal action, the senior social worker said that this was done because I had written about Jeremy Corbyn and spoke about Harry and Meghan with your wife and discussed the royal family. We spoke in the sanctity safety and security of our own private home as a Jewish couple and is it a crime to discuss them. I was asked if I am a member of the Republic (antimonarchist organisation) as this could be considered treason and should not work with them and should not speak anything anti royal or against monarchy as ‘citizenships given can be taken away’ ‘why don’t you discuss India or something your people understand!’.

Now that one understands how bad this is and how traumatic and personally devastating just for ‘crime’ of speaking for India, for Israel and for our Jewish faith. One wonders what help if any can be provided to us, not one person from the wider white British Jewry have been forthcoming and we as Indian brown skinned Jews have been shown the place we occupy as Indians, as Jews and bene Yisraeli Gujarati Jewish family. One laments the fact that colour and race is the one thing that differentiates how a Jew is treated and how a human being is treated. We have learn this the hard way and still we persevere and we fight for Judaism, for Israel for India and for our right to be and exist and not to be crushed and our words muffled and voice muzzled.

Who will stand with us now? Who will show solidarity? Who will be with our community of three a Bene Yisraeli Gujarati Jewish micro community? Who will stand with us as human beings? Who will speak for us? Who will be our voice and our words ? Who will give us justice?

We await and we fight for our rights!

DMK got caught in its own anit-Hindu bait, super star repartee of super star Rajni to DMK

0

It looks like DMK under its dynast leader has caught into a whirlpool of stupidity and political immaturity by unnecessarily raking up a controversy over the saffron colour and Hindu origin of Tiruvalluvar. Beyond Tiruvalluvar, attempts were also being made continuously to portray the Super Star Rajnikanth as symbol of saffron ideology and indirect supporter of BJP in order to isolate him from other communities, especially from the minority. DMK always used to engage in negative politics and politics of hatred and lies.

Rajnikanth is a God loving, spiritual person who wants to develop TN with its full potential by re-inventing and re-tracing the great Bhakti tradition of Tamil Nadu so that people prosper totally and not just materialistically alone.

The recent statement of Super Star has shown DMK its place. Super Star urged DMK indirectly to focus on development centric politics of the state instead of engaging in silly politics of minority appeasement and divisiveness.

PM Modi always engage in development of India, one India and sab ka vikas.

Another statement of Super Star also assumes greater significance in Tamil Nadu politics.  No effort of those who oppose Super Star to package and portray Super Star in saffron colour or part of saffron ideology is going to win. Immediately when Super Star made such statement, VCK, congress party etc., welcomed it and expressed their happiness.

People of Tamil Nadu must read such reciprocation of VCK, Congress with different political intelligence than as a mere political gesture or conventionalism. By praising Rajnikanth, both these parties are sending an indirect message that they do not mind joining with Rajnikanth if they are not duly respected by DMK in the coming assembly election. While being with DMK, it appears VCK and Congress party wants to tell the DMK that without their support, Stalin cannot win election and therefore next assembly election must be fought by all alliance partners of DMK as equals by having equal number of seats allocated to them as well.

Coming assembly is the last chance to galvanize some political space and recognition to MDMK, VCK and Congress party in Tamil Nadu. DMK has gone headless roach and the party is being controlled by the family and not its leaders of cadres. The leadership charisma of Stalin is very low and people do not respect him the way they respect DMK, for that matter. Therefore all alliance parties must demand huge share for them otherwise they would dumb DMK. DMK is in desperate need of alliance parties so the ball in well much in the court of the alliance parties.

The tone and tenure of Super Star looks like he is ready to fight the next election. If Super star enters the scene, then the fight shall be between EPS and Super Star where Stalin may be pushed to last but one position if DMK become an orphan without the support of VCK, MDMK and Congress party. For the alliance parties, they have clear choice that they can either support Super Star or can come back to the fold of AIADMK. For DMK it is going to be a do or die battle and if it loses, that would draw curtain to the politics of lies, negativity, anti-God, anti-Hindu posters in Tamil Nadu.

By attempting to portray Super Star as saffron ideology by several political forces, DMK was also compelled to take a position. But today Super Star has thrashed it literally and proved that super star is the real hope of New Tamil Nadu and not DMK.

All alliance parties also must realize the truth that they cannot remain as mere catalyst or cart pullers of DMK anymore to make Stalin as Chief Minister of the state and fulfill the desire of his family to see him as Chief Minister of the state. A strong DMK is going to weaken not the AIADMK but VCK, MDMK and Congress party. Further such situation also would make these alliance parties to work eternally as subordinate force and have a drop of milk to drink at the mercy of DMK.

Donald may well Trump the impeachment motion

United States of America is the oldest democracy. It became free on 4th, July,1776. The founding fathers with James Madison, Alexander Hamilton and Benjamin Franklin, taking the lead. adopted the US Constitution on Sept,7,1787. Now, on 31st Oct,2019, for only the 4th time in the nation’s journey, the House of Representatives passed a resolution to formally launch the impeachment proceedings against Donald J Trump, President of USA (POTUS). It is an epochal and iconic moment of enormous significance. But, what is obvious is that Trump is not going anywhere. He is unlikely to be removed upon impeachment as Andrew Jackson , or resign as Richard Nixon did. He may become the second POTUS in the nation’s history, like Bill Clinton to be impeached by the House, but rejected by the Senate, which alone has the right to remove POTUS. It requires 2/3rd majority or 67 votes and the Democrats need 20 Republicans, which can be ruled out, at the present moment.

Let’s get real with the facts. Donald J Trump can be removed, upon impeachment for ‘”High Crimes and Misdemeanours” which is the requirement from Section 4 of Article Two of the US Constitution: President …, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanours.”. “High,” in the legal and common parlance of the 17th and 18th centuries of “high crimes,” is activity by or against those who have special duties acquired by taking an oath of office that are not shared with common persons. A high crime is one that can be done only by someone in a unique position of authority, which is political in character, who does things to circumvent justice. The phrase “high crimes and misdemeanours,” used together, was a common phrase when the U.S. Constitution was written and did not require any stringent or difficult criteria for determining guilt but meant the opposite. Harvard Law Review says “The majority view is that POTUS can legally be impeached for ‘intentional, evil deeds’ that ‘drastically subvert the Constitution and involve an unforgivable abuse of the Presidency’ – even if those deeds didn’t violate any criminal laws”.

This is a high bar. Impeachment is not a judicial process. It is a political process yet imbued with judicial – due process of law. Ever since Donald came down the elevator of Trump Towers, New York, in Jun,2015, USA has been on a chaotic spin, reverberating across the world. It has been 24×7 reality show from a reality TV star- who was the Star in his Apprentice with his credo “You’re Fired”. Would he now be Fired by the US Congress. That is the question looming large as a human drama unfolds in Washington.

Most unlikely, is the ready answer that comes to the fore. Despite loss in popular vote by 3 million, Trump made it to the Presidency thanks to the peculiar and queer Electoral College route in the US Constitution. Each of 50 States has got electoral votes and votes/size hardly matters. The result can be skewed as it was in 2000 when Bush -Vs- Gore went up to the US Supreme Court, and George Bush was declared winner. Trump beat Hilary Clinton thanks to critical wins in States that mattered.

Trump’s win was totally unexpected and it was against the run of play. Media has not stopped analysing how they missed the beat of Trump’s base, and a white lady put it beautifully. “While we took Donald Trump’s weird pronouncements on the campaign trail seriously, the media took it literally and got trumped.” True.

Trump’s administration has not settled down even after 3 full years and 2020 beckons with the next election. Over 76 personnel, be it his Chief of Staff, Defence Secretary, Secretary of State, Environment Secretary, Homeland Secretary, FBI Chief, Attorney General et al, it has been one revolving door policy. Trump, as promised. wrecked the Iran Nuclear deal, signed by USA, Russia and entire European Union nations. He came out of France Climate Accord, which Barack Obama put together, after years’ of painstaking diligence, to which India and China had also accorded their consent. NATO, 70 years old and a strong alliance, after the second world war, is under constant tension with Trump’s open disdain and indifference.

As for the Middle East, Trump has wreaked havoc with his now on now off foreign policy. His sudden and unilateral withdrawal from the Northern Syria border and ‘abandoning the Syrian Kurds who had stood shoulder to shoulder in the fight against ISIS”, has come in for stinging criticism from his own party Congressmen. A rare dissent amidst sycophantic ‘Yes Sir’ retinue, to all of Trump’s shenanigans. Tomes have been written on the ‘chaos within Trump’s Presidency’ including “Fear” by the legendary Bob Woodward, he of the twin with Carl Bernstein of Washington Post fame, who brought down the Nixon presidency in the wake of Watergate scandal. And the parallels in Trump presidency to Watergate are striking.

The Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report, at the instance of Trump’s own Justice Department, recorded not one but 10 instances of Obstruction of Justice acts indulged in at the instance of White House. Trump escaped by the skin of his teeth thanks to the ‘beyond reasonable doubt requirement’ to establish a conspiracy between his campaign and the Russian State to get him elected in 2016, as the legal benchmark was unscalable. But collusion and co operation was made out without doubt. It was only Mueller’s age and reticence to use pungent language in his report or deposition that let Donald get away with evident handshaking with Russians. It was a close shave but Trump called it “Collusion Delusion”.

A day after Mueller’s deposition in US Congress, Trump brazenly spoke to Ukraine President, a new elect and erstwhile comedian, seeking his ‘announcement to investigate Joe Biden’s (possible Democratic opponent in 2020 elections to Trump) son Hunter Biden on his Directorship in Ukraine when his father was Vice President of USA”. The ‘perfect call’ as Trump patted himself, revealed a clear quid pro quo to Ukraine, to provide 239 million dollar help to Ukraine to stave of Russian’s annexation attempts.

A whistleblower started it all and now picked up by several White House aides, including war veterans. The ‘smoking gun’ that Nixon’s tapes were, is now a ‘bush fire’ in Trump’s Ukrainegate. White House Official after WH official has gone on record that there was a quid pro quo in the Donald J Trump- Volodymyr Zelensky phone call. And the Factchecking reveals the ‘pressurising began long before the July phone call with a team of Trump acolytes on the loop’. But there are no Harold Bakers or Lawrence Hogan Srs or Barry Goldwaters, now in the ranks of Republicans to tell Trump ‘ In the Name of God, Go”. The present GOP Congressmen ‘are either scared of Trump or made over sycophants with selfish interests”, as Politico concludes.

There is now overwhelming evidence to establish Trump’s guilty call, which he has admitted and Acting Chief of Staff too has dismissed it with “Get over With it”. Republican members of the Congress are not budging. Senate Republican Majority leader Mitch McConell now christened Moscow Mitch has made it clear that “Impeachment by House will arrive dead to the Senate”. Notwithstanding the indisputable ‘high crimes and misdemeanours and more’ (as Thomas Friedman put it) the shame is, Donald Trump’s seat is safe. If anything, the impeachment proceeding may lend him more energy and ammunition to go after the Democrats, harder than in 2016. We feel so good that we are only 72 years old as a democracy, while Putin’s Russia may be laughing all the way…

Is opting out of RCEP-deal a good move?

0

So far Modi’s BJP government has been fulfilling its voters’ aspirations on home front, foreign affairs front and to an extent on economic front (though not fully). It has still four and half years left to set track and boost the economy of the country.

On home front, the government pleased its core voters as well as the rest of India by the abrogation of Article-370 and also in bringing near normalcy to Kashmir. The BJP party could win both Maharashtra and Haryana elections, though the opposition tried projecting economic slump and unemployment as their sole issues to fight with. They dragged in, the recent Nobel prize winner in Economics, Abhijit V Banerjee to buttress their point of India being derailed by Demonetisation and hastened multilayer process of GDP. Yet, the voters reposed confidence in the prime minister’s abilities. The local factors did little matter to them.

Coming to foreign affairs, the prime minister is leaving no stone unturned. His biggest victory is in bringing Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (both Organisation of Islamic Conference-OIC countries) whom Pakistan has previously kept on its hold on religious grounds, to Indian side to support on Kashmir issue. Of course, US and other developed nations are also on our side as they deemed the matter an internal one. In any case, India has to deal with Turkey, Malaysia and Iran that criticised India’s Kashmir policy. This stand of those countries is due to internal bickering of Islamic nations rather than India being hostile to them. Since India is close to Saudi and Emirates, they have taken another stance rather they not being against Kashmir policy.

Inviting European Parliament members delegation, though unofficial, was not a bad move. The Western media constantly baits India on Kashmir by mouthing and by writing columns on violation of civil liberties and Human Rights and all freedoms in an exaggerated way. Any Muslim-related issue, they view with a magnifying glass. The Muslims in the Valley have always been emboldened by the neighbouring Pakistan and this western media that protects them in their umbrella. Our liberal journalists also add fuel to fire by their writings in support of them. So, the European parliament members visit could benefit India’s point of view to a smaller/larger extent in the world fora. The member delegates may be from far right in their countries but they too have brains, a point of view and a place in their Parliament.

Internal cultural matters and external relationships with countries are convincingly addressed. But the prosperity of the country lies in economic robustness. The government knows there’s an economic slowdown but is uncertain of measures to adopt to boost it. ‘Make in India’ program has not taken off in the manner desired by the government.

The RCEP – Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership deal – a free trade agreement among the countries in the ASEAN and China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand- by not joining the deal, is India doing a good thing- is debatable. The prime minister said in Summit (on 03-11-2019) that the present form of the RCEP agreement does not address satisfactorily India’s outstanding issues and concerns. There is also a growing concern within India that the country may be flooded with cheap industrial products from China and agricultural products from Australia and New Zealand once it signs the deal. Even without the RCEP deal, India is, right now, flooded with Chinese products in Indian markets. India has WTO agreement that benefitted country to a large extent. So is the RCEP deal. If not now, after a year or two, if some of the concerns of India are addressed, it is better for India to join the RCEP. Except India, all the other 15 member countries were on board to sign the agreement. They all wanted India as a counter-weight to China by signing the deal.

In the Summit that held recently, in his address while opting out from the agreement, the prime minister said, “When I measure the RCEP agreement with respect to the interests of all Indians, I do not get a positive answer. Therefore, neither the Talisman of Gandhiji nor my own conscience permit me to join RCEP”. Here all the opposition parties in India are with prime minister. All are in unanimity.

Now let’s know see what Gandhiji’s Talisman is. Gandhiji, in those days, opposed use of machinery for producing things which we can produce without its aid. He repudiated industrialised countries for their exports. He said, “The village communities (in India) should be revived. Indian villages produced and supplied to the Indian towns and cities all their wants. India became impoverished when our cities became foreign markets and began to drain the villagers dry by dumping cheap and shoddy goods from foreign lands.” (CW 64:118) He also said, “If I can produce my things myself, I become my master”. Hence his stress was on self- reliance. They were all his protectionist theories way back. Now, the world has changed and India has moved on into a free trade era.

Though glad that Indian negotiators have not caved into pressures from the global powers into trade issues (even US President Donald Trump called PM Modi a tough trade negotiator), it’s better to go along with the other RCEP countries, if some of the sticky issues raised by India are resolved. India is a large beneficiary of liberalisation in 1990. At that time also there was a stiff opposition to that move. Still, even now, the same forces are opposing citing the same reasons.

As far as the Congress party is concerned, it always tried it’s best to keep the country backward, so that, in people’s ignorance, they could cash in on. But for the former PM PV Narasimha Rao’s initiative, economic liberalisation would not have been possible. Any other Congress prime minister, in his place, would not have gone on for liberalisation. Joining the RCEP is again an economic reform. The BJP is altogether a different party, so, it should act differently by not rejecting the RCEP completely. It has to have back channel talks for settlement in order to take the country forward. India cannot afford to live in isolation as is sought by Gandhiji way back.

Some political parties in the opposition and businessmen may applaud for not signing the deal. Businessmen have definitely their vested business interest. They know that they have to wind up, if they cannot compete. What about the poor consumer, why should he pay for their inefficiency? The commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal’s assurance: India can talk if concerns are resolved, is encouraging for the benefit of Indian economy.

Recollection and revival of our great tradition is not religious majoritarian-ism – Let us begin our mission with Tiruvalluvar

0

The recent politics created over Tiruvalluvar, the eternal poet and immortal saint of Hinduism by DMK is quite unfortunate. The present generation must be taught not only about Tirukural but also about Tiruvalluvar. When we refer to the greatness of Tiruvalluvar, we also must explicitly say to the world that Tiruvalluvar was a great Hindu sage, saint and an eternal poet.

Since the period in which the saint had lived is not clear, some assumptions had to be made and accordingly an image of Tiruvalluvar was made way back in 1950’s. But the state of Tamil Nadu came under the rule of DMK from 1967 onwards and from thereon, DMK and its affiliates carefully separated the great Tamil Bhakti tradition of Hinduism and infused a new wisdom among people that only North Indians and Brahmins are Hindus and Tamil people are Drawidians. To foment such politics, Tiruvalluvar was shown in white garb, covering the chest possibly to hide the sacred thread to prevent the future generation to know much about Tiruvalluvar or his Brahmin origin (if so).

The attempt of BJP to present Tiruvalluvar in saffron garb does not seem to put Tiruvalluvar under any caste or community or religious bracket but it is needed to tell people of the world that how DMK has covered the truth about Tiruvalluvar and divided Tamil tradition from Hinduism.

When Christian writers claim Tirivalluvar to be a Christian and according to them, several versus of Tirukural reflects nothing but biblical gospels, the DMK was quite silent. But when BJP attempt to present the truth about Tiruvalluvar and how Tiruvalluvar had promoted the sacred Hindu tenets and devotion over Hindu Gods, DMK seems to develop urticarial reaction in its skin and get offended. The fear of DMK appears to be that the present generation should not know the history of Tamil culture and tradition other than what has been created and promoted by DMK and EV Ramasamy Naicker.

Today even the person in a remote village is well connected by internet and can easily source information whereas the situation was not the same in 1960’s. Therefore DMK could disfigure and change the tradition through promoting certain scribblers as great writers and scholars of Tamil literature and accordingly changed several facts.

Most people in Tamil Nadu ask what if Tiruvalluvar was a Hindu. Why when DMK show such deep love for black colour has to hate and abuse saffron colour? Saffron colour symbolizes purity, truth, saintliness and sage hood. Tiruvalluvar was a sage. Tiruvalluvar was a true disciple of God and an ardent devotee as reflected by his writings.  Hence portraying the eternal poet cum sage Tiruvalluvar in saffron robe with divine ashes on his forehead neither demean the glory of Tiruvalluvar nor reduce the stature the great sage. In fact such portrayal has only corrected the historic error and the intentional blemish created by DMK for its political fortune.

The political controversy raised by DMK has made many people in the state shell shocked to realize the truth how DMK has not even spared Tiruvalluvar to appease minority for its political advantage.

Minority appeasement is being practiced by several political parties in India including congress party and which is bad. But how abusing and demeaning Hinduism as a part of minority appeasement politic can be accepted is the question people of Tamil Nadu are asking to DMK.

DMK has finally entrapped in the net that it had created. DMK would have thought the people of the state are as same as in 1960’s. But in the world of information and internet, DMK has not realized that it cannot play the same old politics to gamble people. Further the dynastic culture is also not going to have any great appeal in Indian politics. Politics of lies, hatred, negativity, minority appeasement, anti-God, anti-Hindu, anti- Hindi are not going to give any dividend to DMK in future.

Further, people also see that revival and recollection of our great Hindu tradition and culture is not majoritarian approach but such revival is necessary to unite India as one country to promote the ideals of tolerance, diversity and development. Only through promoting Hinduism and Hindutwa, we can unite India and not by dividing Hindus under caste system. Tiruvalluvar was part and parcel of our great Hindu culture and tradition and in simple term, was a Hindu sage.

Judicial & police reforms: The need of the hour

Complaining is what we as public have always learned to do and asking questions about society’s problems and not solutions has become en vogue. Today as a member of the same complaining & questioning society, I take it as my social responsibility to suggest a few points which may be deemed as part of a long due system overhaul.

The suggestions to our Police and Judicial reforms are as follow:
FIR has to be lodged directly with the judiciary via an All India Police ERP system, connected as a mobile application with the public at large connecting all courts and police stations pan Bharat.
FIR can be lodged online, in any police station or on the mobile app portal which connects the public to the system. This mobile app will have the facility to video and audio record the complaint as an encrypted safe transcript. Aadhaar link will deem it as legally & digitally signed.

The online app will immediately notify the FIR to the concerned police station, Police SHO, DCP office till DIG of the state police.

The AI based system will itself allocate the FIR to the concerned investigation officer and the on record file with progress report filters will be a public document, open to public scrutiny, comments and suggestions.

All investigation officers will work and report on an online investigation system, a common platform having a dedicated system based menu and sub menus. The system which will have a committed step by step time set procedure for the investigation officer to follow, report and automatically progress to generate a digital police investigation report for the courts. The system will have Bharat’s entire legal data and police records. The AI generated report will also incorporate all similar Bharat Criminal Data, Court Cases etc as referral for the judge. An Automatic time-bound reporting and completion of investigation will be the norm. The AI based system will automatically guide the investigation officer and report both his compliances and non compliances in the final police report. The system will have various checks & measures like forensics, uploading evidence in digital format etc.

The public can on anonymity also upload evidence pertaining to the case and protected by the Evidence and WhistleBlower Act’s. The Aadhaar based system will bring in accountability and transparency for all in the AI based system. Depending on the IPC sections involved the AI system will itself investigate the case with the investigating officer only helping the system in following the steps generated by it. The system will allocate the various IPS sections connected with the case, compile the data and the investigation officer has to generate the required evidence for the system in accordance with the system’s requirements. After the investigation is in progress or over the system will generate the report for the courts to follow and will be submitted to the court vide the area DCP or DIG office with the concerned SHO’s digital signature.

The judgements will be system generated after the judge and court staff have completed the set procedures pertaining to the case in their set Dems. The AI will process the data to dispense the judgements and generate bail or further escalation in the case. The judgement will be authenticated by a panel if need be online.

The moment the court receives the case online, the system will automatically allocate the case to a Judge hence officially recognising the incase as registered. The system will first offer mediation in case of Civil suits after the concerned judge & court is allotted.

The system will automatically allocate the case at random to the all India list of advocates specialising in the concerned case types. The AI will shortlist the advocates as per set criteria set in the system. This will ensure transparency in the system as all advocates will get a fair chance to get cases.

The system will automatically decide the time allotted for judgement which will have an effect on a judges work appraisal.

The system will incorporate payment procedure for advocates fees, court fees, etc. All advocates will be PAID by the courts as the litigants will deposit fees in the courts and not pay the advocates directly.

The advocate fees will be fixed by the govt. A part of the advocate fees will go for Advocates welfare, Insurance, Bar association, pension and medical facilities.

The procedure will be transparent & once the litigant selects his advocate then the advocate will have to comply and deliver. The litigants will rate the advocates service which will help the advocate and also have a procedure of refunding a part of fees. The appraisal system based on litigants and judges for an advocate will help filter out the weeds in the system and also a good appraisal points/ratings will help advocates garner more cases and higher fees brackets. Advocate fees will be in brackets starting from minimum to a maximum depending upon the case, duration etc.

The witnesses, digital as well as hard copy evidence, proofs, will be digitally processed. Witness will be cross examined and then his authentication with his recorded evidence incorporated. A witness can only be called thrice. Police has to encrypt the digital twice. Forensic Proof and Forensic labs pan Bharat will be interconnected and connected to the case via the ERP system. The Forensic labs will only get a secret case number for their report and not divulge any other details. Every Police station will have a Forensic DCP and below cadre hierarchy giving strength to scientific and reliable criminal investigation.

Automatic transfer of case to higher courts and similar procedure will be followed again. The higher court will decide the case’s as acceptable or not.

Police arrest, remand, interrogation will be online and in video to avoid third degree torture based confessions. The AI based forensics will be the crucial and the deciding factor.

Medical, Compensation, postmortem, handling and disposal of victim’s body etc will digitally organised and part of the courts judgement. The case will be deemed as over only when A to Z procedure has been digitally filled.

On completion of the case, the AI system will automatically grade the judge, police, advocate etc and add to their appraisals, awards. The police investigation officer will lose his job on 5 failures of convictions hence false cases will be a forgotten norm.

No more an advocates fees will be a deciding factor in dispensing judgements. Good advocates will automatically be graded by the system itself on the basis of factors like judicial appraisals, time taken to decide the case and clients feedback.

Law Companies and alliance will be strictly prohibited.

Good licensed detective agencies will be the new criteria as a parallel to post and pre police investigation to help the case. This will be based on judge’s discretion and the detectives will be paid by the litigants via the courts in a pre-set fees pattern.

Police investigation officers appraisal will be similar as above.

Low performance, non conviction etc will automatically reflect on the police officers service records. 5 non conviction, delays etc will lead to disciplinary action.

Good performance by lawyers, judges, staff will be online available to the public with an all India ratings system.

Only good lawyers will make to courts and judges after passing the exams or the set govt selection procedure etc.

Quality judgements will be highlighted online.

Dedicated media cell in all courts.

The fees will be collected by the courts and then paid to the lawyers vide a noble tax-free system. Litigants and clients will not be able to directly pay the advocate or detectives.

Direct payments will be considered illegal hence attract penalties, fines & punishment.

The AI based legal system will also incorporate automatic changes in existing laws & bring in new ones as per the challenges posed by the society’s ambient social structure and demand.

Judges will have AI to give valid judgements. AI will look into an all Bharat database of cases, criminal history sheets etc to bring about logical algorithm based decision cum judgements.

I hope all these points will bring in the much needed judicial cum police reforms in a scientific and logical way. It will bring in transparency, accountability, fairness and reliability to our judiciary. This will Improve the image of our legal and policing systems in the eyes of the world and do away with Corruption. Jai Bharat

Pakistan: Is it all coming to a head now?

0

Pakistan as a subject has always piqued my interest, firstly, because of its impact on India and Indian politics. Secondly, I find the politics in Pakistan fascinating – its quasi-democratic, quasi-authoritarian political settlement enables a political analyst like me to study a wider kaleidoscope of Machiavellian politics than that seen in India. In my view, the path on which Pakistan is hurtling down could have devastating consequences for the country and its people – unless there is a genuine realignment in the power dynamics in the broader national interest.

Fires are raging everywhere.

Pakistan currently stands on a precipice and looking down on the abyss below. Its politics is in a mess, the economy is in doldrums, key institutions have been compromised, ethnic conflicts have sharpened considerably, the law & order situation has deteriorated significantly, human rights abuses have become more blatant, and development indicators are stagnant, if not moving southward.

Sample a few facts:

  • More than a dozen top political leaders from the opposition have been jailed for months on corruption charges without conviction. The only one convicted, ex-PM Nawaz Sharif, was done so through a compromised Judge, who accepted his guilt on hidden camera. Key opposition leaders have been hounded and their press conferences have been banned. The Azadi March led by Maulana Fazlur Rehman has further intensified the conflict between the ruling PTI and the opposition.
  • The economy is in the ICU. Economic growth has come down to 2.4% from a healthy 5.8% a year ago. Inflation is at 11%, and fiscal deficit at 8.9%. Debt to GDP ratio has crossed 100%. Electricity and gas prices have gone through the roof. The Pakistani rupee has depreciated 60% in 18 months and development expenditure has been slashed by more than 50%.
  • Ethnic conflicts have become quite magnified over the last year. The Baloch resistance has sustained despite attempts to clamp down by the Military. The Pashtun Tehefuz Movement (PTM), a homegrown, non-violent and mass movement has emerged as a potent force. The Mohajirs of Sindh are seeking their own security and space. The People’s National Alliance (PNA) in what Pakistan calls Azad Kashmir is demanding `Azadi’ from the occupying forces.
  • Human rights violations have become the norm. Thousands of Baloch people and Pashtuns are picked up and put in internment centres without charges for indefinite periods. The entire KP province has been put under martial law. Prominent activists and intellectuals like Najam Sethi, Gul Bukhari, Taha Siddiqui, Mohammed Taqi, have been hounded and exiled for towing an anti-establishment line.

To understand why the fires rage, understand the Establishment-driven politics in Pakistan.

Directly or indirectly the military establishment has controlled the levers of power ever since Pakistan came to be. For almost one half of its lifetime, the country experienced military dictatorships; and the other half has witnessed military controlled civilian rule, in which the degrees of freedom were sharply circumscribed. Internal security, strategic terrorist assets, India policy, Afghanistan policy etc. were virtually no-go areas for the civilian administration.

Now that the world doesn’t take too kindly to military coups, the Pindi Boyz (GHQ is based in Rawalpindi), as the generals are called, have maintained their suzerainty by using various methods at their disposal. Firstly, they have played favourites with different political parties at different times. From Nawaz Sharif to Benazir Bhutto, to Zardari, to Nawaz again and to Imran Khan now – the pendulum swings as the Boyz have wanted. When things came to a head, they have not hesitated to remove political leaders. Both Nawaz and Benazir were exiled, the latter was assassinated, and the former is critically ill due to a mysterious illness while in jail. Thirdly, they have sought to discredit civilian governments as corrupt and inefficient, while on the other hand, its formidable propaganda machine, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), has fed the Pakistani public the image of a glorified, professional and strong army that has forever guarded the national interests. Simultaneously, they have used their power to co-opt or coerce key institutions like the Judiciary and the Election Commission to toe the establishment line. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the Intelligence Services (ISI) have been the trusted agencies that go after those who pose a threat to the interests of the establishment.

The continued dominance of the military in Pakistani politics has had very damaging consequences for the country. The situation today may not resemble 1971 when East Pakistan became Bangladesh, but 2019 is a whole new world. The legacy effects of this military dominance have created a volatile and toxic mixture of political instability, poor governance, economic distress, sectarian uprisings and growing radicalism.

So what caused the fires?

The embers had been burning for a long time. It just needed someone to add a combustible fuel to it. And that someone turned out to be none other than the blundering Establishment!

First, the establishment misread Nawaz Sharif and Maryam’s ability to withstand the fierce onslaught on them. Sharif’s disqualification from holding public office, his and Maryam’s conviction on corruption charges through the compromised NAB courts and subsequent imprisonment – these and more were all designed to break them down and do a deal. Just like Sharif, Benazir and Zardari had done before. This time, however, it was different. Both Nawaz and Maryam have fought back, refusing to do a deal and take the next flight out. Instead, they directly challenged the establishment by releasing a video of the compromised Judge who convicted Sharif. The fact that Sharif is now critically ill due to lack of medical attention in jail shows the level to which the establishment can go to get its objectives. But in this process, both the father-daughter duo strengthened their political capital, particularly in Punjab, while the fortunes of Imran Khan have sagged due to poor governance and vendetta politics.

Second, the strategy of the establishment to hoist the PTI and its charismatic leader, Imran Khan, into power has backfired spectacularly. Getting Imran Khan and the PTI through the backdoor was the establishment’s plan to neutralise the Sharifs, especially in Punjab. Some intimidation and offers to get the `electables’, quick stitching of alliances with other parties and smooth rigging of the results – the job was done. IK was the new PM, Punjab was PTI’s and a Naya Pakistan was in the making. But 14 months later, the new Pakistan resembles nothing like the Madina-e-Risayat that IK had promised. Prices of basic commodities have sky-rocketed, lakhs of jobs have been lost, law and order has deteriorated, quality of public service delivery has worsened. It’s increasingly clear that the government is far from being competent in governing the country. Voices are being raised against the establishment for having installed a puppet regime. The ongoing sit-in led by Maulana Fazlur Rehman that is reverberating with chants of “Go Niazi Go” is giving sleepless nights to both the selected and the selectors. It’s a matter of time before the establishment forces a regime change. The establishment desperately needs a face-saver and the longer IK stays, the worse it’s going to get for it.

Third, the establishment moved too fast on the global geopolitical chessboard from the American side to the Chinese. By keeping the Taliban card too close to their chest, they tried the patience of the Americans for far too long. Simultaneously, they jumped headlong into the belt & road Chinese bandwagon. The US cut its military aid to Pakistan; while the Chinese plied it with costly debt. This approach has two severe consequences for Pakistan. First, the economics went haywire. As long as it was a beneficiary of the US largesse and had the support of US-controlled institutions like the World Bank and IMF, it could somehow manage to keep its fiscal deficit at reasonable levels. Without them, the hole in the budget suddenly got much bigger. Running to the Chinese and the Saudis helped bring in precious foreign exchange but only in the form of debt. The bitter IMF pill that it is again forced to swallow is sending shockwaves across the entire economy. Second, the US started to turn the screw on Pakistan for its support to Jihadi actors and organisations. In the din of do-more and no-more, Pakistan suddenly found itself in the international spotlight. Then came the FATF grey list and now the country is ever so close to being blacklisted.

Last but not the least, the approach of the establishment to curb and smother dissent and free speech has become very blatant. Tolerance for dissent and free speech always had limits in Pakistan; however, in recent times, there is a marked lowering of the tolerance to almost zero levels. And the methods being used to do so have become more blatant, arbitrary and fierce. The fate of Gulalai Ismail, a human rights activist, was a foregone conclusion had she not escaped from Pakistan. Now her father was abducted in broad daylight. There are more than 2500 unsolved forced disappearances reported from KP, Balochistan, Sindh and Punjab. And that’s official statistics. If earlier the media received whatsapp messages from the generals, now it is PEMRA issuing official gag orders. It is the Imran Khan regime that has institutionalised the Khaki methods of silencing critics – critics of the PTI and of the establishment. Earlier under Nawaz or under Zardari, the modus operandi of the Pindi Boyz was rarely direct and often concealed or through cultivated religious groups. Under IK, both are on the same page. But the page belongs to the establishment.

So What are the Implications

First, political stability in Pakistan in the short to medium term is unlikely. With or without Imran Khan, politics will be in a flux. Outcomes could vary depending on how deals are struck, or not, with the establishment by different players. It could be an Imran-less PTI government, a Shahbaz Sharif led PML-N, a combination of the current opposition. Or a technocratic government. The establishment is unlikely to allow Nawaz or Maryam anywhere close to power, unless the impossible happens in Pakistan. Free and fair polls.

Second, Imran Khan will be the establishment’s sacrificial goat this Eid or that. I mean this way or that. The credibility of PTI is intrinsically linked with IK and for the party to survive, IK needs to retain some amount of it before he goes. If he does, the Pindi Boyz can perhaps repeat the game in the future once again. But it must be Punjab which will be worrying the Boyz – their IK trump card failed to break the Punjab bastion of the Sharifs.

Third, the economic mess is not going to be resolved overnight. Used to free lunches provided by the Americans, the generals cannot figure out how to go Dutch with the Chinese and the Saudis. So far, the immediate requirements meant limiting imports, higher taxes, cutting expenditure and currency stabilisation.  Sooner or later, the focus needs to shift to the fundamental determinants of the economy – export competitiveness, revenue buoyancy, trade reforms, budgetary reforms a.k.a. defence expenditure etc. Its geopolitics and internal security is defining its economy; it should be the other way around.

Fourth, the marginal utility of using terrorists as strategic assets is giving diminishing returns now. With the FATF sword hanging on its head, overt support to extremist groups is impossible. No wonder IK warns about the J-word in Kashmir. His military masters are just biding their time for the pressure to lift and then it will be business as usual. But do they have the time? With multiple fires raging, it could be too little, too late.

Fifth, the attitude of the establishment towards dissent, human rights and media freedom, and towards ethnic aspirations, does not provide comfort that things can be sorted out soon. Its likely to get far worse before it gets better. But Pakistani society has a strong and resilient DNA strain. It is this resilience that the establishment fears. The Punjabi power, the Pashtun pride, the Baloch resilience, the Sindhi intellect.

Finally

Pakistan has to make a choice about the kind of state it wants to be. Should it be business as usual or should there be a fundamental rethink? Business as usual will eventually lead it to fall into the abyss. God forbid something happens to Nawaz Sharif; or another incident like that in Khan Qamar with the PTM; or another Naqeebullah shot dead in Karachi; or another brutal attack on Baloch nationalists.

Only a fundamental rethink can save the nation. A change that brings political stability without the establishment foisting another regime through political re-engineering. A nation that opens its borders to trade and gains from globalisation. That finally upends its policy of using terrorist organisations as strategic assets and instead goes after them. And one that understands that Pakistan is a microcosm of a diverse set of languages, cultures and ethnicities.

Or else.

Blame game: A difficult choice

0

I support the Judiciary and will always stand by the law of our land. Has the Media been biased against anyone of the parties concerned?.

Police protest has resulted in bringing out their angst against their IPS in the public domain and to garner public opinion in their favor vide the Media. Thus leading to public debate, opinion polls, views on social and other public media platforms.

What the innocent public is not understanding is that the Police protest vide the Media has created a dangerous precedent and that is- “CHOICE BETWEEN JUDICIARY OR POLICE AS A CULPRIT” for the people to comment & judge.

This is harmful for our nation and our democracy because such situations to malign the image of either the police or judiciary is unacceptable for a healthy democracy to function. How can the media force the public to choose, decide and give a verdict?

This is unethical. Govt should see to it that such protests by uniformed services shouldn’t be ever repeated. Uniformed services should be kept away from forming or joining associations or unions during their service tenure.

For the innocent public both are important and the common man sees policing as part of the Judicial system at large and not something under the home ministry.

Our media should have acted maturely and played down the issue as it has escalated due to its reporting. Our Media should now blackout all coverage regarding the issue for it to be settled in camera overtime, as the public has a short memory and people will forget the incident over a period of time.

I hope that everyone agrees to my opinion and sad incidents are not ever repeated. Democracy cannot afford or function if the people start choosing, judging, form opinions etc amongst governing bodies.

Official Secrets Act is there for this very purpose and that is to keep such interdepartmental situations under wraps.
