Some men just want to watch the world burn: Instigators Motto

Some men just want to watch the world burn is a very popular quote from a popular movie, The Dark Knight. The conversation takes place between Batman (Bruce Wayne) and his butler and confidante Alfred Pennyworth.

By looking at the events taking place in recent days that some people want the same. All they need is a reason to instigate one against the other just to see a government in a bad light. They want to instigate Hindus against Muslims, Dalits against general caste, rich against poor, Brahmins against Thakur, etc. In a nutshell, they want to instigate Indians against Indians so that the people come rioting on the streets which can provide them fodder to criticize the government further by sitting in their comfy houses.

Some Dalit experts who are the torchbearers of Brahmin hatred and find everything wrong with Brahmins suddenly became the wellwishers of Brahmins when a criminal Vikas Dubey was encountered. A very famous Dalit icon and Bramhin basher suddenly developed a love for Brahmins when he questioned “Would this be his fate if he was a Thakur”. This sudden love for Brahmins is just because they want to want people from one caste to fight with each other.

Similar thoughts were propounded by the journalist Vinod Dua on his show when he provoked Indians to protest and riot in the same manner as witnessed in the United States. When people do not do as preached by these intellectuals they are deemed as failures.

A number of Intellectuals, journalists, RJs, lawyers, etc. were hands in glove with the rioters during the anti-Hindu riots in Delhi which resulted in the death of several people.

These people are like vultures who feed on the carcasses of the dead people and exploit the opportunity for their own personal benefit. This breed of people was rightfully highlighted by Rajdeep Sardesai in his video in which he said that “We are like vultures. We feed on these moments”. When the attack on the parliament can be a moment of joy for these people, the murder of a few people is just an occasion of momentary happiness for these people.

In order to make sure that peace and tranquillity prevail in society, it is necessary that such people are called out their hypocrisies are exposed. Such people should also not get a free hand to spread misinformation and must be tackled properly. The people must also be educated about such people and their propaganda must be exposed to reveal their true faces. This can help their blind followers see their true faces.

The state of state

0

The goals established by our constitution maker are simple and relevant today. These are Justice, Liberty, Equality and fraternity. Since 26 Jan 1950, we thought to achieve these goals through the sovereign, secular democratic and republic polity of state.

Government expert believe that except during national emergency of 1975, Indian polity has been running on desired form of polity. but the goals of constitution are yet to be achieved.

The power has been in the hand of few, which is given by the system. Its the police organ that wield the power through the gun. Encounter killing is justifiable on the basis of self defense given in the IPC statue.

But fake encounter killing is not justifiable. I would like to go in little depth. Why Police resorts to fake encounter. Is it due to that they do not trust judiciary? It means an organ of state do not trust the other organ of state. There is trust deficit. If so, how would the citizen of India trust the three organ of state?

Therefore it is the call of all organ of government to trust each other and help them to deliver the justice to the needy. It will help them to gain the trust of people so that goals of constitution can be achieved.

Overpopulation in India- A ticking time bomb

0

Overpopulation has been a sensational topic in recent times, with Union Minister Giriraj Singh hinting at a Population Control Bill (PCB) arriving soon. As per the latest data on Indian population, there are currently 1.3 Billion people residing in the country, with a net increase of 1.6% each year (after taking into account the deaths, formula being Gross Births – Gross Death = Net increase in population). According to the UN’s population division, India is projected to surpass China’s 1.4 Billion population by 2024. Despite China also facing a population explosion in the past, the one-child policy is seen to have helped control the growing population.

A Population Control Bill will put sanctions on those having more than two children from the date the bill is passed, the sanctions may include withdrawal of free healthcare or education rights, and higher taxation.

China’s one-child policy of 1980 made it a punishable offense for couples to have more than one child, those flouting the law became victims of forced abortions, sterilizations and economic sanctions. However, the 36 year span of this policy led to an increased rate of female infanticide, widening gap of male-female ratio, and increased pressure on hospitals and old age homes to care for senior citizens. In 2016, The People’s Republic of China put an end to this policy because of the flawed planning and execution.

Though China’s one-child policy was later found to be flawed, it became a ray of hope for other developing countries who are also suffering from overpopulation. Many world leaders have pondered over the viability of a two-child policy, which could potentially be effective at controlling growing populations in developing countries. In 2019, Rakesh Sinha, member of Rajya Sabha or the Upper House of the Indian parliament and associate professor at University of Delhi, introduced the Population Control Bill 2019 which aimed to enforce a two-child policy in India.

India’s population crisis has been one of the most unprecedented problems in modern history, since it puts immense burden on public infrastructure facilities such as water supply, electricity, and housing. India’s population density is at a worrisome 464/Km2, which makes the country 19th most densely populated according to UN estimates. The ranking may not concern many people when viewed at a pan-India level, but concerns arise when we look upon metropolitan cities in the country.

Mumbai, financial capital of India and home to Asia’s largest slum of Dharavi, ranks 5th in the world’s most densely populated cities. The effect of which can be seen when MCGM (Mumbai’s civic body, and Asia’s richest) is unable to provide pothole-free roads and manage water-logging every monsoon. The dense population of India has also been a key issue in the fight against COVID-19. During the 1920 Influenza outbreak, Mumbai was victim to widespread infections due to the tightly packed slum areas. In 1920, soldiers fighting Germany in the First World War returned to India through Bombay, and brought with them the influenza virus which had then plagued Europe.

Overpopulation has caused several problems to the public infrastructure system, and been a key determinant for inequalities in wealth and income-

  1. Burden on Infrastructure- Overpopulation and population explosion puts immense pressure on public infrastructure and government authorities, since they have to provide essential services to the population such as electricity, water supply and housing facilities.
  2. Rising Unemployment- Overpopulation leads to increased unemployment in the country, since there is a wide mismatch between job-seekers and job-givers. There aren’t enough jobs to sustain such a large population.
  3. Growing Urbanization- Overpopulation and unemployment in rural areas lead to mass urbanization from hinterlands to urban centres like Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata. This puts an increased burden on civic authorities.
  4. Rising inequality of wealth and income- The mass unemployment makes the poor suffer, since they have to agree to low wages for sustaining their daily bread. The rich are able to get cheap labour and procure more profits- widening the gap between the two extremes.
  5. More Public Expenditure- Government authorities would have to spend more on healthcare, water supply and other basic services to care for the growing unemployment in the country, this money would be funded by taxes.
  6. Higher taxation- The government will finance these services by imposing higher taxation policies on the middle and upper class, increasing the burden on honest taxpayers.
  7. Public Debt- If the government cannot sustain despite the higher tax rates, it would have to borrow money from the World Bank or other financial institutions. This would increase the public debt and spiral into a debt trap.
  8. Increased crime- Urbanization in metropolitan cities will increase the friction between locals and new-comers. Poverty too comes with higher crime rates.

Overpopulation is the key reason for worsening public finance and societal problems, a Population Control Bill will solve most of these issues and pave way for a better India for future generations.

Power of dreams

0

Chase your Dreams, you deserve it.

Has there been a day when you woke up with a new idea that you got from your own dream? And now, this idea does not let you sleep. You are having sleepless nights but still you are happy and fully charged to take up the control of your life. Your aim becomes to fulfill this dream and now, you want to live up for your dreams. If yes, then you are really experiencing the true power of your dreams.

Dreams have such a huge power and impact that they drive us to move further in our lives. They motivate us in our lives and guide us to achieve our goals. We might not understand the real power of our dreams, but we do not need to do that. What we need to focus on is our “Dreams”. We do not need to know how, when, why but ‘What’.

While pursuing our dreams, we will realize the real power of the “Dreams”. Dreams are immensely powerful and its 100% possible to turn them into reality. What we need to do to make this true is to be consistent, positive, focused and determined. If we are focused and determined to chase our dreams, we will sooner or later turn them into a reality. But we should be consistent and positive in making our efforts. We just need to play our part and the success will be in our favor.

To conclude, never underestimate the power of your dreams. Just be truthful to yourself. If you can think, then you can surely achieve it. Trust yourself and do your efforts. Without sustainable efforts, its hard to achieve success in whatever tasks we do. So, do not waste your time, let’s start and get ready to pursue the dreams.

In an era of infodemic, it is easy to get deceived by purported objectives of any move that is made public. However, to crack the code, you do not always need to be an expert.

In an attempt to be head and shoulders above its opponents in reducing academic burden on students, the HRD ministry has announced the exclusion of topics like Nationalism, Secularism, and Democracy from the syllabus of political science. Although these are just a few of the many topics that have been omitted from different subjects, the entire exercise of restructuring the curriculum has an undercurrent that is sure to raise your eyebrows. While the rationale offered to issue a counterargument falls under the banner of right to transparency on the nitty-gritties of decision making process, it is equally true that education has always been used (rather misused) as a tool to propagate political ideologies.

Even a dud would agree that not knowing how minerals are transported in plants or how heat exchange take place between systems would not have that serious an impact on your role as a citizen than would factoids on secularism do. With a surfeit of information fuelling the narrative on issues of social importance every now and then, young minds are extremely likely to get swayed by #hatespeech and the like that is delivered in the name of instilling patriotism.

Tomfoolery doesn’t end here. In its most recent manifestation, a history sheeter whose criminal career flourished under the aegis of many bigwigs, was shot dead in an encounter by the police convoy. That might still sound ok; but what if I tell you that the members (of the police fraternity) themselves helped the gangster escape after the July 3 ambush that claimed lives of 8 cops. Moreover, the first step executed in the direction of unravelling the mystery was to demolish the very structure housing clues that could connect the dots. Would you not fall head over heels for such a system?

For a polity that pats its back by making a mockery of its own deeds, you can expect anything on the table. All you need to do is take everything with a grain of salt!

Krishna and His Leela (2020)

0

Recently, the movie ‘Krishna and His Leela’ created a huge furore among netizens. Particularly among the Hindus, that the movie is hurting the religious sentiments. The reason being the title of the movie: “Krishna and his leela”; Sri Krishna being the dearest God to the Hindus known for his Bhagavadgita and the Krishna mentioned in the movie was a playboy. On the other side were those who said that the movie has nothing to do with the Lord Sri Krishna but just a name used for the lead character in the movie.

There are as always two factions that give more weight to one side than the other when neither has seen it with an open mind, and the vote is split between the two, each supporting either side. The reason for different leanings are various and not under the scope of the current article.

Observations:

The movie seems misplaced in the Indian context and appears to be a badly incorporated Hollywood movie into an Indian cinema. The story line, characters and their acts are fully western in nature.

One of the surveys say that the national average of smokers and alcoholics has more than doubled in the last 2 decades(1), hence it is not a surprise that the heroine smokes, and the movie shows it casually (The question here is not the one of morality but the necessity of it. The negative impact is unquestionable(2) and more on women than in men is well researched(3)). The character’s name is Satya (short form for Satyabhama in the Bhagavata who is one of the ashtamahishis of Sri Krishna), his college senior who is also a Bharatanatyam dancer. Another heroine named Radha (the beloved gopi – Radha of Sri Krishna), his college junior.

Krishna, after a break up with Satya starts liking Radha. Both Krishna and Radha are in love but Krishna still has the carnal attraction for Satya whom he had begged not to leave him. He vacillates between the two emotionally and cannot get himself out of the physical relationship that he had earlier with Satya nor is able to tell Radha that his attraction for Satya is not over as he is now in a committed relationship with Radha and even gets her pregnant. Sensing something is still not ok with Krishna and Satya, Radha makes a jealous comment on Satya’s habit of smoking and that too as a passing comment and nothing serious, that’s about it.

Krishna moves in with his sister in Bangalore when he starts working for an IT company after college. There is a friend of his sister named Rukhsar (a different name for Rukmini, first of the ashtamahishis of Sri Krishna) sharing the accommodation. The first thing he notices when he enters his sister’s house is the exit of Rukhsar out of the bathroom hurriedly into an adjoining room and says he couldn’t be very happy with what he saw as she was anyway towel-clad. His sister rejoices the comment with an eye-roll.

Among all the three ladies: Satya, Radha & Rukhsar, the lead character Krishna stares without a wink, constantly (and even voices them out), at their bodies even by bending himself in different ways to have different views, time and again expressing his carnality, throughout the movie. None of the women take offence of it.

The character names: Krishna, Satya, Radha & Rukhsar, are not a coincidence and definitely not a genuine mistake. It has all the potential to hurt the Hindu religious sentiments. The character Satya is a “Bharatanatyam dancer and a smoker”! Why was it required? How does it add to the story? A clear intent in denigrating Indian art forms that are held sacred. The title itself gives away, “Krishna and his Leela”, aiming to juxtapose with the “Raasa Leela of Sri Krishna” mentioned in the Bhagavata Mahapurana. The story maker doesn’t seem to have read the Bhagavata Mahapurana or the Mahabharata in which the central character is Lord Sri Krishna, a god who is revered unparalleled. Apart from the perverted notion of what he/she has had, the story maker doesn’t seem to have an iota of idea about the Raasa Leela of Sri Krishna and his relationship with Rukmini, Satyabhama & Radha.

Sri Krishna was requested by Rukmini to take her away as she was going to be married off against her will, Satyabhama was given to Sri Krishna by her father for his valour and Jambavati was offered by her father Jambavan as he realizes that Sri Krishna was none other than Lord Vishnu. All the ashtamahishis were given to Sri Krishna, unlike the lead character Krishna in the movie who is runs behind one or the other lead female characters begging them. The 16,100 other “wives” of Sri Krishna, he didn’t go and marry them but was requested by them, as they had been bound by a demon called Narakasura and Sri Krishna saves them by destroying the demon and releases all the 16,100 women. These women when they went back to their parents/husbands, were not taken back as they had stayed in another man/asura’s place overnight. Not knowing what to do, deciding among themselves, all go to Sri Krishna and ask him to marry them and bless them with a dignified life lost due to the demon Narakasura. None of this is taken into consideration as maligning Sri Krishna and the Hindu scriptures and its characters/gods seems to be the intent.

The thing that clearly opens up the anti-Hindu sentiment is the background score. For every carnal move of the lead character Krishna, there is a carnatic classical song at the background. Specifically, at an instance when Krishna vacillates while still in relationship with Radha and goes behind the smoker Satya again, the infamous song by Ootukkaadu Venkata Kavi Alaipayudhe Kanna…is used. The irony is: the lyrics and raaga which flow with conviction filled bhakti to Lord Sri Krishna being used during the immature-carnal-vacillating moment of the lead character Krishna. Even in the story, the usage is incorrect. The song originally is by the gopis to Sri Krishna and not the other way around which opens up the shallow knowledge of the basics by the story maker.

A sly and misleading portrayal in the movie is that the character is seen as analysing his moves between the women, whether what he was doing was correct or not, every time he vacillates. None of his thinking reaches anywhere. He repeats his mistakes non-stop till the end of the movie where he eyes Rukhsar too, when he again asks himself looking at the fourth wall if what he was doing was right and then goes to Rukhsar who is facing the ocean at night with a back open gown looking at which Krishna is smitten, turns carnal and asks-her out. ‘A sly and misleading portrayal’ because, the man is shown as thinking, to say that he is not an unthinking person so as to say and that his decisions were thought out and hence his moves were logical and not irrational trying to normalise what he does. But the reality is that he does no more thinking than to ask himself if it is fine to do what he was doing and the answer was always a ‘yes’.

A messed up behaviour, calling the ones whom he “loved truly” as “good friend” after they break up with him when he tells that he wants both of them and they learn of his cheating mania! Satya invites him to her marriage and Radha phone calls him from some other country in which she is living and now they are all friends! It is a known fact that once one has loved another truly, it is not possible to friend-zone, and least of all continue to have a healthy relationship and be in touch, inviting for one’s own wedding – a clear farce!

The Hollywood has made this a thing of today, friend-zoning your ex-crush, ex-girlfriend, ex-wife! Hypocrisy at its best! Another insensible move is to “hug-it-out”. The hugs between boys and girls and the IT folk is a thing common today masqueraded in the name of friendship and good manners! The cheap thrills the hugger or the hugged gets out of it is not spilled out! A total, base, western behaviour.

A full-fledged Hollywood movie in the name of Indian cinema portraying the cheap side of western customs which probably the native westerners themselves wouldn’t consider as good customs, even in their context (take their technological advances, hard work and originality into your own lives and adapt them instead of their falling customs) those that appear in the movie as a new normal for Indians.

The question here is not about Modernity versus Indian-ness (because, India has been ever open to newness and flexibility; her innumerable texts; handling different facets and newness themselves are a testimony, often contradicting between one another to a newbie) but Western versus Indian-ness. Why choose one over the other?
