Deep Sidhu and the pro-anarchy brigade

0

I am really surprised at the way some people are reacting to the incidents happening since January 26, 2021. Did they not see this coming? They did! They are pretending to be surprised. They are acting like little girls who act surprised on a “surprise party” for which they themselves had approved the list of attendees. Every political party, leader, person knew what was coming. I am not saying this now after the violence that happened on Jan 26, I wrote a complete article about this as soon as the initial talks between the protesters and the government ended in an impasse. You should definitely read “Farmers protest heading towards a disastrous end” that I wrote on December 5, 2020. Excerpt:

“Unless something is done, this year is going to end exactly like it started with massive riots. People would tolerate blockades for a while, and then people supporting the bill would come on streets and get the blockades cleared by themselves. Of course it would be very easy to put all the blame on some Kapil Mishra and of course it is just normal to call BJP anti-minority. No body asks what events lead to 2002, everybody just blatantly says riots happened. Twenty years down the line, no body would ask why riots in 2020 happened, everybody would blatantly say riots happened. And BJP was responsible for them!”

And this is not the end, the worst is yet to come if this blackmailing in the name of illegal protest doesn’t end right away without any ifs and buts. You now already see locals starting to fix the problems on their own. This will turn ugly in no time. Of course it is extremely easy to rubbish them as BJP goons, like considering Deep Sidhu as a BJP agent now.

It is hilarious how pro-anarchy brigade is trying to build its escape plan on a picture of Deep Sidhu standing along side PM Modi and Sunny Deol.

Prashant Bhushan on Twitter: "This is Deep Sidhu with Modi & Shah. He led the mob at Red Fort today & unfurled the Sikh religious flag there… "

There is no question about it that the person standing in the picture is Deep Sidhu. It is true. But this is a picture taken before the 2019 general elections, when he, Deep Sidhu campaigned for Sunny Deol. But what is also true that Deol and Sidhu have been on opposite sides since then. Below is a video from Sept, 2020 where he is literally abusing Deol. This is one of the many instances where he mentioned that he regretted campaigning for Deol.

Not only him, but Deol also explicitly criticized Deep Sidhu for his agenda in the name of farmers. Below is one of the Deol’s statements in early December last year:

“The MP has now come out with a statement in Hindi on social media platforms claiming that the “issue was between the government and the farming community and that some people were exploiting the situation.” Deol referred to Deep Sidhu saying “he was with me during my campaign but is now being driven by his own agenda”. “I have nothing to do with his activities,” he added.”

At the very same time, Congress leaders including Cabinet Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa rebuked Deol stating:

“Deol has started targeting those people who are standing by agriculturists in their need of the hour”

The irony is that the BJP leaders including Deol and the national agencies have been mentioning time and again that there were anti-national forces at play, but the pro-anarchy brigade kept on using people like Deep Sidhu. You must have definitely heard statements like “BJP considers farmers as anti-national, terrorists and Khalistanis” Haven’t you?

As a matter of fact, not many people outside Punjab even knew who Deep Sidhu was, let alone his ideology, before the pro-anarchy brigade made him a star. Some might be tempted to say that it is only me who did not know him, but if you are thinking on this line please watch this interview of his with the evergreen Barkha Dutt:

According to her, a lot of people wanted to know who this person is and what kind of a farmer is he who speaks English (you must have heard the controversy – how can a farmer speak English that too in an artificial accent with rolling r’s). In this thirty minutes interview which was aired on November 28, the so called “farmer” had already expressed his views on federal structure and geo-politics along with his sympathies for Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. But even after this, the pro-anarchy brigade in India kept doing interviews with him and continued making him a star. And every time somebody from the ruling dispensation said that there are anti-national forces at play, the pro-anarchy brigade rubbished the claim stating that BJP sees traitors, terrorists and Khalistanis in farmers.

That was not the only one. At around 7:00 minutes in the video below you can see a crucial member of the pro-anarchy brigade, Mr. Rajdeep Sardesai (who recently floated a fake news about police shooting a farmer, which would have definitely created a lot of damage if the accident was not caught on a CCTV camera) interviewing him and giving his views time and space on a national television.

There are many more such interviews, different pro-anarchy brigade members even after knowing his thought process continued to air him, without any gumption. You can have a look at Print’s interview here. Once the National Investigation Agency (NIA) started summoning people like Deep Sidhu, it was called that BJP is using government institutions to crush the protest. The very same pro-anarchy brigade who now is trying to connect him to BJP was more than eager to float this narrative. You could also have a look at one of the India Today’s interviews with Sardesai as a host and Deep as a guest explaining how government is using NIA to suppress the voice of “farmers”.

While Deep Sidhu has proved himself to be anti-national without a doubt, and the Indian Legal system should make an example out of him. But he is just a cover up, a escape plan, the tip of an iceberg. They are the ones who actually did the heavy lifting, if it weren’t for them, Sidhu would not have managed the large support that he actually got.

Have a look at some of their provocative videos:

The fact is that it was never a protest for the farmers, it was and is only a protest against the government. If it were about the three farm laws, the protesting leaders would have discussed the acts and the points in the acts instead of asking the complete repeal of the three acts. The goal is to dismantle a national government who is willing to stick its neck out in order to bring difficult reforms. The goal was and still is to create anarchy in the country, assemble large crowds and create a perception that the government should step down. It does not matter who is who and who does what, what matters is who can gather the biggest crowd. The one in white turban with the mic, addressing this crowd of “farmers” is Deep Sidhu. There were many like this one.

Love-Jihad: From Amir Khusro to Amir Khan & Taimur Lang to Tauseef

0

Another girl Nikita Tomar got killed by jilted jihadist converter Tauseef in broad day light at point blank shooting in Ballabhgarh – Haryana. The girl was a bright child and was about to complete her graduation. For us it was just another incident and it’s unwarranted to give it a communal or Love Jihad angle. Nikitas are for getting harassed by Muslim men, chased down to colleges, market places, and lured on the pretext of love to get converted to Islam in the name of Love, which actually is Jihad. In Islamic cult one cannot marry a kafir, she needs to convert to Islam before marrying. If anyone promising you to keep your faith after marriage then either you are utter ignorant or under some narco-medic influence. This soft jihad is as old as Islam is. It’s the strongest tool ever to convert Kafirs or infidels to Islam.

There are several myths that misled Hindus for centuries by Muslim rulers, scholars, and leftist historians believing that we were always been meek, weak, had no will to fight. We have been forced by their armies to get converted to Islam and their Pir, fakirs have convinced Hindus to get converted afterward. The Darbari Hindus who were on the payrolls of the Sultans and Nawabs wrote in favor of it and helped this propaganda to spread across the Hindu land.

Time has come to explode this myth

Islamic invaders from Bin Qasim to Taimur, Nadir Shah to Abdali, all came with armies to loot, plunder, kill and kidnap Hindu men and women. Men were sold as slaves women as concubines. There are no records of Mehmood of Gazanavi converted Hindus during his raids to Somnath. Even after some of these invaders succeeded in establishing their rule, they were too busy securing it from our Hindu kings and their own kins! (A large number of Muslim rulers were either killed/jailed/deposed by their own people. Islamic history is full of palace politics and intrigues.)

Islamic invaders succeeded in establishing their rule in Delhi from the 13th century onwards till it ended formally in 1857 (Muslim rule was already a spent force when Aurangzeb died in 1707). During this period most of the Islamic rulers were busy consolidating their power, facing revolts and coups from within, or encountering fierce resistance from Hindu kings in particular and the Hindu populace in general. so in this mayhem when did they have time and resources to indulge in mass conversions of Hindus?

It is true that many Hindu elites during Islamic rule were enticed into accepting Islam to help them retain their positions of power and pelf by understanding our culture and demography so they can loot without much collateral damage. But that was purely voluntary. Similarly, several families of Hindu court musicians were allowed to function as court musicians on the condition of becoming Muslims. But the overwhelming majority of Hindus remained Hindus through these trying times of a few hundred years in their 15,000 years old history available history.

The Big Question is how?

Hindus of that era lived in about eight lakh villages and thousands of cities & towns of undivided India. All these Hindus were fully armed. Every Hindu man and woman, irrespective of caste, creed, or class, possessed arms and knew how to use them (After 1857 revolution, British systematically disarmed India. Reason why today’s urban Hindu doesn’t know how to use a stick or an axe).

To forcefully convert these armed Hindus, invaders will need large armies with crores of soldiers! Invaders did not have the time and resources to do this; they did not even have the will & wish to do it. They had come here only to loot, plunder, kidnap women, and enjoy power. Neither the so-called soldiers of Islam. For example, Masud Salar, nephew of Mehmood of Gazni could gather an army of a Lakh Turks, Persians, and Afghans only on the promise of loot and plunder of Ayodhya! He convinced the desperados that Ayodhya was much bigger and wealthier than Somnath which was sacked by his maternal uncle (This Masud and his army were decimated by king Suheldev in the famous battle of Baheraich in present-day UP in the year 1023, Masud too was killed).

so it’s evident Our Hindu ancestors did not convert willingly to Islam, nor could they be forced to embrace Islam. Then how we find so many Muslims in modern India? How there are so few Hindus (Of all faiths) left in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh?

The Answer is LOVE JIHAD!

This LOVE JIHAD is not the invention of present-day “communal” Hindus, as claimed by Left-liberal Hindus. It has been there for last thousand years. Ever imagined what happened to the children of Hindu women who were kidnapped by invading Muslims? What about the children born of thousands of Hindu women kept in their hundreds of harems by Sultans, emperors, their army Generals, and ministers? These children were born of Hindu mothers but raised as Muslims. Amir Khusro’s father was Uzbek Muslim and mothers a Hindu Rajput lady. His children were raised as Muslims. Jahangir was the son of a Rajput Hindu princess Jodhabai. He ruled India as a devout Muslim and helped to spread Islam in India.

Now Come to modern times. Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi married a Hindu Sharmila Tagore. The couple begot a son named Saif Ali Khan, who married Hindu Karina Kapoor. Couple begot a son named Taimur! This Taimur is 75% Hindu but is being raised as a Muslim. This is true for millions upon millions of Hindu ladies who were either forced into marrying a Muslim or were cajoled or enticed into doing so. Results are the same. This LOVE JIHAD is not restricted to the Indian subcontinent. It is going on in Europe and Northern America, taking full advantage of democratic and liberal regimes in these continents.

In this context, if we conclude, the growth of Muslim population since the beginning has been due to Muslims marrying Hindu women and producing Muslim children, then we have to find ways of preventing this form of religious conversion. For modern Hindus, this has become an issue of life and death.

A hundred crore Hindus will have to unite and organize themselves to fight this menace called LOVE JIHAD. Hindus should have the following long-term strategy to counter Love Jihad.

  1. Create Awareness
  2. Find solutions
  3. Achieve Results

AWARENESS:

To achieve RESULTS, Hindus must form a new Hindu organization comprising of men and women dedicated to this cause with an aggressive name.

The creation of awareness should not be restricted to media or social media campaigns. we must document all the cases of LOVE JIHAD from History & modern times. Data turned in to booklets, Hindu volunteers must begin the campaign to visit all Hindu families having girl child or grown-up school/college going girls. Creative posters should be designed, printed, and pasted on the walls of schools, colleges, and prominent places. Local newspapers must be encouraged to carry the stories of LOVE JIHAD very prominently (though its happening on small scale)

The awareness campaign is needed for political parties too! All political parties must be made to realize that their existence and survival in India depends on India remaining HINDU! There are no free political activities in Islamic countries. All elected representatives must be approached with a plea to help to enact a law against this form of religious conversion. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and MP CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan have already initiated the process of a strict law to curb love jihad and other means of compulsive conversions. In any rare event of Hindu girl marrying Muslim man out of her volition, the law must prevent this Hindu girl from converting to Islam and must give her freedom to raise her Children as Hindus. Punishment for apostasy in Islam is death. The reason why a Hindu woman converted to Islam may not reconvert for fear of being killed. Law must protect such women.

Hindu Organizations should have cells to coordinate their activities with other Hindu organizations. It should also extend support to non-Muslim communities like Christians, Parsis, Jews (The term LOVE JIHAD was first coined in Kerala by the Christian Church after noticing how a large number of young Christian girls were being lured by Muslim men]

As mentioned above punishment for apostasy in Islam is death. As a result, a large number of young educated Muslim men and women though disillusioned with Islam are unable to disown it. Hindus must pressurize the parliament to protect all those men and women who wish to leave Islam.

United Hindus can end this 1300 years old scourge called LOVE JIHAD. We need so save our Dipika, Mira, Gauri, Amrita, Kareena’s from producing their enemy from own wombs. This love jihad is real and is being practiced on global scale. Few years back one pamphlet was surfaced in a news paper published from Vadodara. The rates of converting Hindu girls by marrying them were stated cast wise. Brahman girl for six lakh, Rajput for 8 Lakh, jain 2 lakh, sikh 6 lakh in addition to this motor bike, car and out of pocket expenses from  local Masjid. Hindus who still think this menace will not reach their homes are in deep slumber. We need to talk this regularly in the family with our children or be ready to be father of another Nikita Tomar.

Maoist-separatist nexus created anarchy in Delhi on Republic day

0

Remember the recent infamous pogrom of capitol hill in Washington DC? The anti-CAA protects at Delhi and all over the country last year, almost at the same time. The racial riots in the US last year over the killing of George Floyd? All these incidents have a common thing in their background. The same forces working to topple President Putin at Saint Petersburg, Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel too. The Leftist- communist conundrum has brought all these projects in action to defeat the rising nationalism all across the world. It’s the dyeing attempt of survival for communists all across the globe, as they see the death of left ideology with rising nationalism and country first slogans.

We will go through the series of incidents that took place on 26th January 2021, on the eve of the republic day of India and its capital city Delhi:

● On 26th January around 8.30 am around 6-7 thousand tractors assembled at Singhu border, they were to reach Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar and take a right turn. Instead of the agreed-upon route, they insisted on going to central Delhi, and despite persuasion by Delhi Police; the farmers led by Nihang on their horses fully equipped with deadly weapons like swords, Kirpans, and Axes charged the police and broke several layers of barricades, erected between Mukarba Chowk and Transport Nagar.

● Similar incidents happened at Gazipur and Tikri borders, the agitating farmers broke barricades and attacked police vehicles and personnel with deadly weapons. The farmers at the Gazipur border broke the barricades at several points and headed towards ITO, to join farmers marched in from Singu Border. The same seen was at the Tikri border also, instead of turning towards permitted root towards Najafgarh, they headed towards Peeragarhi and further towards Central Part of Delhi.

● At ITO, a large group of so-called farmers who had come from Gazipur and Singu borders attempted to move towards the central district of New Delhi. When stopped by policemen, the group became violent and broke the barricades, damaged iron grills and dividers, even tried to run over the policemen with tractors.

● At Laal Qila, the agitators broke gates and entered the well area of it. They created ruckus at the place and went violent over the policemen and climbed atop the rampart of the Red Fort where they hoisted the Khlistani flag. It was a horrific experience for the police personals; they were seen pleading to the rioters with folded hands to stop the hooligan.

● Mukarba Chowk, Gazipur, A-Point ITO, Seemapuri, Nangloi T-Point, Tikri border, and Red Fort are the places where the rioters went berserk and violent against police and abusing PM Modi and his Government and chanting Khalsa slogans all the way all the time.

● Over 400 policemen are reported injured and several public and private properties have been damaged in the vandalism by the rioting mob.

What to learn from the incident:

The brief bio-data of some principal leaders operating from the backstage of this agitation clarifies that this was a moist-jihadist model used in several countries to dislodge the government, including the recent episode of Donald Trump of US at the capitol hill. Look at some big names:

Yogendra Yadav has been at forefront of the protests and had somehow declared that not even the delivery of essential commodities will be permitted during the ‘Bharat Bandh’, is notably the convenor of Swaraj India, a self-claimed social worker and psephologist. Yadav however, has come to be actively associated with farmers’ protest and is a member of Sanyukt Kisan Morcha and the co-convener of AIKSCC. He is a hard-core leftist and believed to have a strong connection with Maoists in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Maharashtra.

Darshan Pal, who made headlines when he called for the burning of PM Modi’s effigies on December 5, is the State president of Krantikari Kisan Union (KKU). Pal, a retired doctor in Punjab state Health department is affiliated to CPI(Maoist). Notably, he is also one of the founders of People’s Democratic Front of India (PDFI), affiliated with the Maoist movement.

Hannan Mollah, another popular face of the farmers’ movement this year is also affiliated to CPI(Marxist). An eight-time MP from the party between 1980 to 2009, Mollah is a resident of Howrah, West Bengal. He has also served as the general secretary of DYFI, the youth wing of the Communist Party from 1980 to 1991, and is at present the general secretary of AIKS and joint secretary of All India Agricultural Workers Union and a key link between Khalistani & Jihadi organization and fundraiser from Pakistan and China.

Jagmohan Singh Patiala, a member of BKU(Dakaunda), is also linked to CPI(Maoist). A resident of Patiala, he is a trained Acupuncturist and has also served in the co-operative department of Punjab Government. A core discrete supporter of Khalistan movement.

Kavitha Kuruganti, convenor of ASHA (Alliance for Sustainable and Holistic Agriculture) hails from Bangalore and is a social activist. A member of the Central Working Committee of the AIKSCC, she is said to have coordinated with representatives of various states to mobilize people to take part in the agitation, including Yogendra Yadav and Medha Patkar. Alongside, she is also spearheading a campaign for banning Reliance Jio mobile services. Again, a hardcore leftist and tukde tukde gang supporter.

Another notable name in the farmers’ protests has been Nav Nirman Vikas Sangathan(NNVS)’s, Akshay Kumar.  A resident of Odisha, a leftist social activist and close associate of Anna Hazare and Medha Patkar. He has also been a part of the so-called revolutions in past, like Narmada Bachao Andolan & Azadi Bachao Andolan. Akshay Kumar is the national convenor of NNVS, a farmer front of Nava Nirman Samiti.

 – The Sayunkt Kisaan Morcha an apex body of farmers associations assured The Supreme Court & Delhi Police that they would follow the route and it is their responsibility to maintain peace. Since Delhi was attacked, they should be held accountable for all the hell Delhi and Delhi police went through and brought national shame to the country, they cannot run away citing some alien involvement in the riots, but the farmers. During the violence, all these self-declared leaders were silent and haven’t made a single appeal to stop the rioters they were all silent.

-It is strange that none of the organizers condemned the rioting, contrary they are blaming BJP for this citing their groups have done all the Hungama, not the protestors? As organizers of the march, it was their responsibility to control the participants. They can’t get away by abdicating the responsibility

-It is well established now that Sanyuka Kisan Morcha leaders were well aware of these plans but didn’t inform the Police. Rakesh Tikait is seen in many videos and bites given to media that the march will go to the Rajpath and Lal Quila for sure. Many such other videos are doing rounds on social media where all of their leaders were declaring the march up to Lal Qila and hoisting the Khalistani Flag on it. Why the hell the Supreme court allowed this tractor march despite knowing these videos on news channels.

– Delhi CM Arvind Kejariwal and his government spent tax payer’s money to provide free wi-fi, Lungar and other facilities to Maoist-Separatist mobs on Delhi to hatch this conspiracy to attack Delhi, Kejariwal should be made a party to them and should be tried for squandering public exchequer to those rioters. The damage should be compensated for those involved in the rioting after identification.

– Many news channels have gone defending the act citing juvenile reasons, Ravish Kumar of NDTV gone saying on record that nothing wrong was done. Such an attempt was also made by political parties to defend this violence and politicize this issue where the national flag was desecrated on Republic Day is condemnable. All political parties should condemn this. Rahul Gandhi & Sharad Pawar’s statement is ironic as he wrote several letters during UPA regime as an agriculture minister supporting farm laws.

– Delhi Police personnel attacked badly by mobsters, tractors rolled over them and crashing barricades. They were attacked with deadly weapons. Female cops were abused and molested in many places. This was a big moment of shame for all those associated with this agitation, but they are not. Do security forces have no human rights? Who is going to protect the human rights of these cops? Hope The government is listening and wakes up from its slumber.

Youth unrest in the world: What are their demands?

0

Youth Unrest- A World Phenomenon: The development of ‘youth unrest’ has become worldwide. As Gareth Stedman Jonse has justly observed: “From Berlin to Peking, from Tokyo to New York, in Paris and in Prague, the increase of those movements (student movements) has altered the character of politics. Virtually, each government has some reason to concern its students, with sensible reason. From Cuba in 1958 to geographical area and ‘France in 1968 students have contend a vital role in political change, once more and again serving to to discredit, remodel or topple governments. Students have erupted within the world of politics with a precipitancy nobody may have foretold”. The scholars are nowadays a replacement social force of unnumerable significance. The student power appears to possess an anti-establishment and a revolutionary tone. In Germany, the Socialist building (S.D.S.) declared the students’ lack of confidence in political parties and parliament and even their “taking democracy into the streets”.

In Italy, student strikes in the midst of an ‘antiuniversity’ stance marked the happening at Turia and different universities together with those of Rome, Naples, Bologna, etc. In Feb. 1968, the disturbances within the Belgian University of Louviah contributed on to the autumn of the Belgian Government. In Czechoslovakia, in the movement towards liberalism the scholars and also the youth union joined hands with the employees in “heralding the democratic revolution”. In America, the anti-Vietnam and civil rights problems led to confrontation between the scholars and authorities. the scholars were light-emitting diode by the S.D.S Students for a Democratic Society. In May-June 1968, France saw battles between demonstrators and police and violent attack of scholars and workers. Students boycotted examinations in Sorbonne and occupied the buildings. once the crisis was over, the Minister of Education was now not within the Government for he had to resign. it’s same that this event accelerated the downfall of DE Gaulle.

In England, the London faculty of political economy was the scene of confrontation between the radicals and also the authorities. In Indonesia, the partnership of the scholars and also the army militated against Communism and led to the autumn of the Soekarno regime. Japan has witnessed the foremost large demonstrations by students. In Bangladesh, the students contend a key role in its liberation movement connexion hands with the Mukti Bahini. Youth Unrest in India: In Republic of India the coed policy has erupted in numerous forms and for whole unconnected reasons in different elements of the country. A quarrel between the employees of the bus transport and a bunch of scholars in urban center light-emitting diode to large demonstrations and strikes within the whole of M.P. and U.P. it slow ago. A amendment in the methodology of payment of examination fees resulted in total strike in Lucknow University. A demand for a manufacturing plant brought the Andhra students on the street. Vietnam has forever provided AN early chance to the urban center students to agitate. Demand for an Agricultural University gave rise to a colossal agitation within the Vidarbha regions of Maharashtra.

A demand for reforms within the Agricultural University was the rationale behind agitation in Jammu and Kashmir. A couple of rusticated student leaders motor-assisted by the ‘disgruntled politicians’ brought the closure of the Banaras Hindu University. A competition between student factions, one supporting the Vice-Chancellor and also the other, Chief Minister of province within the Osmania University was same to be the important starting of the Telengana agitation. Anti-Hindi agitation and the assemblage – seventy agitations resulted in the closure of all the colleges in Karnataka. Semester system was the target 5f attack for the scholars of the Mysore University some years back.

The ‘Nav Nirman Andolan’ of Gujarat (which toppled down Chimanbhai Patel’s Government) ultimately gave birth to the Chhatra Sangharsha Samities guided, galvanized and light-emitting diode by Late Sri Jayaprakash Narayan and also the Assam agitation spearheaded by the All Assam Students Union (being supported by the Gana Sangrama Parishad) are the recent samples of student agitation of semi-political nature. riddance a couple of no-hit agitations the student commonness has didn’t be peaceful in its agitations.

India down under 2020-21: Never before never again!

New comers filled with scary talent & self-belief defines Team India!

On 19th January, when Pant hit those winning runs, the motley crowd at the Pan Tapri (small shop) went delirious! I thought I was lucky to witness this historical moment. I have been watching cricket for almost 40 years now. The first memory being India winning the World Cup in 1983 in England. Only can be competed by Dhoni’s team winning the World Cup again in 2013! Now, this can be contested by many with their own favorite moments, but I don’t want to waste any more words on that. We can do that on another day. Today I want to just make a few observations on this series and why I think this win is unique.

Kohli, come on…be a man!

First and Foremost: Virat Kohli arguably, India’s best batsmen ever, could have handled his own exit in a much better manner. He knew well in advance that he was not going to be there for the last 3 tests. So why did he not recuse himself after the T-20 series and before the test matches began? That would have given Rahane more confidence and time to prepare. But I think it’s Kohli’s insecurity, which made him behave in such a cagey manner. Also, Rohit Sharma landing in Australia only after Kohli had left, gives a very bad message. And does not augur well for the world’s number one team!

Secondly, once he had decided to stay back and lead the team in the first test and then lost so badly, he should have changed the plan. If he believed his presence was critical he should have easily stayed on for at least for the second test match. Which was supposed to happen in Melbourne and end on 30th December. If he had done that, he would have still almost 2 weeks to spend with Anushka and help her deliver the baby. Yeah, but this would have meant he might have to forgo the New Year party.

In short Kolhi, arguably the best batsman India had, failed the acid test of captaincy. Sadly the story here is not much different than Sachin Tendulkar’s. And no I am not inferring the basis the Adelaide test debacle. His overseas test record as a captain is not great at all. Before the Aussie tour began he had won only 13 out of 29 tests.

With that settled, let’s move towards the more sumptuous part of the series. After getting shot out for 36 how India turned it around? You see if you look at the statistics, it looks like, Indian comeback began in Melbourne, where it won the test match and leveled the series. But I disagree. I think India turned it around on the 5th day of the third test in Sydney.

Overnight 98/2, and needing more than 300 runs in three sessions, dice looked loaded against them. And when Rahane got out in the second over, it looked over. But in a moment of inspiration he sent Rishabh Pant ahead of Hanuma Vihari. And God smiled! Paine dropped Pant when he was on just 3 of Lyon. For the next 90 minutes or so, Pant clobbered Australian bowlers and reached a half-century in no time. Only to be dropped again on 56 by the same man of the same bowler. In the morning session, India scored 108 runs for the loss of Rahane’s wicket. At lunch, it must be the Indians who would have enjoyed the food!

In the post-lunch session, even the subdued Pujara grew in confidence. With the new ball due in exactly 10 overs, he and Pant decided to take maximum advantage. And in the next 9 overs they scored 45 runs. Taking India past 250 and Pant to the cusp of a maiden century. To Lyon’s credit, he persisted with outside off stump line inviting Pant to drive. And with the first ball of the 80th over, he managed to induce a false shot from Pant! The expansive drive to a delivery pitched in the rough took a big outside edge and popped to backward point. Pant gone!  For a dazzling 97 of 118 deliveries only. Fastest innings of the tour, both sides put together.

With the new ball in hand, half a day to go, India almost 160 runs adrift, and given India’s long tail, Aussies must be salivating at the prospect! But Indian batsmen and God had other ideas! Instead of dropping the anchor (further) Pujara upped the ante and started scoring freely. Till Hazelwood, got one through him. At that moment, with only Hanuma Vihari & Ashwin left, who had some sort of batting prowess &/or experience, an Aussie win looked certain!

This ain’t Cricket!

And this is where I think, India won the mental duel with Australia! Ashwin and Vihari stopped playing Cricket! They turned into gladiators who were waging a war to protect the motherland against an all-powerful army! Vihari batted with a strapped leg. And Ashwin with body blows! Both just refused to be rolled over! Together they battled for 256 deliveries, facing 128 each. And though the partnership added only 62 runs, it became the fourth largest partnership for the 6th wicket in the fourth innings! India batted for 131 overs to earn a draw. This is only the 6th occasion when a team batting in the fourth innings batted for more than 130 overs to save a match. And only 2nd since 1971. And that tells a tale!

In Sydney the underdog achieved the stripes!

To reiterate the point made above, in Melbourne India achieved statistical parity. In Sydney they became equals! The underdog had achieved his stripes! When they walked onto the Gabba field, they only had the Australian record at this ground in their way. Aussies were unbeaten here for the last 32 years! But this Indian team was not going to be deterred by records.

I thought somewhere, Aussies did take the inexperienced bowling attack lightly. And in both innings, India was able to knock off the last 5 wickets very cheaply.. In first, Aussies’ bottom half only managed 55 runs and 67 in second. Contrastingly the Indian bottom half did magnificently well. In the first innings, the bottom scored 152. And of course for second innings comparison is not possible, because India lost only 7 wickets.

If you want to summarise the last test victory in the fewest possible words it was the resolve of the newcomers! In both the departments, batting and bowling the contribution of debutants was stunning. In the first innings, when the Aussies got away, these greenhorns came back strongly and restricted them to 366, when at one moment 400 looked possible. And again, while batting when India was down for a count, Washington Sundar & Shardul Thakur put 125 for the 7th wicket and converted the test into one inning match.

Bowlers who can bat and Bowlers who can bowl!

In the second innings, I think Aussies were a bit overconfident. And the new recruits in the bowling department came roaring back into the game. Not once, but twice. The first time, when Harris-Warner got off to a brilliant start and were going at 4 runs/over. Shardul Thakur bowled a terrific bouncer to Harris, which he tried to duck under but managed to edge it to the keeper. The second time, with the scoreline reading 196 for 4,(226 if you add first-innings lead) Smith well-set, and Wade, Green, Paine, and Cummins to follow Aussies surely pushing hard and Siraj bowled a cracker at Smith. Which took the bat handle & glove and was caught at the second slip. These 2 wickets at key moments, broke the Australian momentum and restricted Australia to less than 300.

On the last day, once Shubman Gill and Pujara put together 150 plus, for the second wicket Australia was on the backfoot. There was a flutter for a brief when Rahane went after scoring a quick 22. But once Pant came in there was hardly any doubt left that, India is going for it. He put three extremely important partnerships together with Pujara (61 runs), Agrawal (37), and 53 with debutant Sundar. Importantly the scoring rate was not allowed to drop below 3 at any moment. And fittingly enough, with 3 overs to spare Pant hit one through the mid-off to seal a famous victory. Without any doubt, this second inning chase belonged to Gill and Pant. Who scored 91 and 89, at around 4 runs per over. And this positive attitude was the key to the victory!

And to me, this change happened in the third test. Specifically after Pant’s whirlwind knock of 97. Which showed the limitations of Australian attack and inspired Ashwin and Vihari to thwart Aussies then. And Indians carried this positive attitude even in the final test. Which propelled Sundar and Thakur to belt the best bowling attack to all corners of Gabba in the first innings, when the chips were down.

Will end with a small story, but which perfectly symbolizes the spirit of this young and exuberant Indian team. With 10 runs needed of 4 fours for victory, Rishabh Pant hooked a Hazlewood bouncer. And while pivoting, he lost his balance and hit the ground. But even lying down he had an eye on the ball. And was pleased to see the ball reaching the boundary!

The rich-poor farmer divide

0

Over the last 2 months, Regional Farm leaders of Northern India have been a mainstay of National television as they have been at the forefront of the ongoing farmer’s agitation against the newly enacted agricultural reforms. Countless authors have written about various aspects of this agitation as well as the agriculture sector in general. I too would like to talk about a particular aspect that most authors have sort of ignored despite the fact that it’s pretty much apparent i.e- these farm leaders themselves.

All these farm leaders are extremely rich and live lavish lives and haven’t stepped into a farm field for years now. Farm leaders like Rakesh Tikait and others own assets worth hundreds of crores of rupees. These are big crorepatis, some even arabpatis. This despite the fact that Indian farmer in general is extremely poor with an annual income of less than a lakh rupees. These leaders say that their fight is with the capitalists though they themselves are capitalists. They run several businesses especially agri companies. It’s true that capitalists have hurt (and would hurt) Indian farmers, but these capitalists aren’t the Ambanis & Adanis. It’s actually these farm leaders(or rich farmers).

Over 85% of our total landowning farmers are small & marginal and are extremely poor. Yet they own less than 45% of total agricultural land. About 50% of total landowning farmers in India own even less than 15% of total agricultural land in India. Not just that, but of all the people employed in farming, over 55% are those who don’t even own a single inch of land. These people are generally called landless agricultural labourers. I would say they too are farmers as they do the real farming. So it’s clear that majority of farmers in India either own extremely small patches of land or no land at all, while about 15% landowning farmers own 55% of total agricultural land. That’s where the real problem is. This is a direct result of the failure of the Nehruivan regime to effectively execute land reforms across the country. Land reforms are one of the biggest failures of the Nehruivan regime and they faced the most resistance in the Northern India where the reforms could be implemented to only a small extent. It’s nothing surprising that richest farmers of the country come from this region. Now where does the public procurement at MSP largely concentrated in?? Northern India obviously. Only about 6% of all farmers in India get MSP. These farmers mostly hail from Northern India. It’s pretty clear who these farmers are. Several reports have made it clear that bulk of govt subsidies is also availed by these rich farmers and only seldomly reaches the poorest.

Almost entire benefits of subsidised agri credit is availed by rich farmers and notably even agri business companies (which have nothing to do with it). Not even 20% of small & marginal farmers have ever gotten access to the subsidised agri credit. Rich farmers have been found to refinance these loans to poor farmers at exorbitant interest rates, often trapping them in vicious debt traps. These rich farmers are strongmen and highly influential in there areas. They are farm leader and have their respective unions. There’s a nexus between them and politicians and local administration, they themselves are local politicians many times, even legislators.

They are local Sahukaars and even act as Aarthiyas. With their money and unions, they are nothing short of strongmen in there areas. The existing system has been extremely beneficial to them, hence why they would always fight for it( that’s why they never asked for direct subsidies despite the fact that direct subsidies have been far more impactful than indirect subsidies and also why they haven’t expressed much interest in DBT). These rich farmers for long have been like some parasite sticking on to the sector and sucking out of it any potential for growth. We have to dismantle this hegemony, because as long as they are sitting at the top, they won’t allow anything to trickle down. Only by dismantling this hegemony can we truly open the gates of prosperity for the farmers at large of India.
