Democratic Taiwan shouldn’t be another Crimea & Afghanistan

In 2014, Crimean peninsula located along the northern coast of the Black Sea in Eastern Europe, which was part of sovereign territory of Ukraine since disintegration of giant communist ruled Soviet Union when the former in fact earned her independence, was annexed by Russian Federation under the semi-democratic or anocratic ruler Vladimir Putin, a political product of Soviet Union, taking advantage of country (Ukraine) civil war. This is in fact a greatest set back to democratic movement in the world in the last decade. Following this incident, a lot of hullaballoo has taken place all around the world without any tangible repercussion on encroacher.

On 15 August this year when the world largest democracy India was celebrating her 75th Independence Day, in her western neighbour in Afghanistan, where India has invested a lot for promotion of democracy, a functional democracy –of course was in her nascent stage- was allowed to be assassinated by a religious fundamentalist outfit branded by many as a terrorist regime -infected with 7th century drafted believes and faith- with tacit support of the world’s second largest and oldest constitutional democracy and Super Power USA, which in fact is accused of ‘having trained and promoted with provisions of lethal arms and ammunitions to the outfit’ soon after Soviet Union invasion of landlocked nation in 1979 during the later part Cold War in 1979-91.

To the critics of the withdrawal of US forces in Afghanistan, who had been there since the daring terror attacks on the heart of Super Power in 2001 and acted as country’s protector against evil terrors and to strengthen nascent democracy during the period, the newly elected President Joe Biden had lame excuses, such as: 1. His administration was just executing previous administration agreement, 2. The US was there in Afghanistan to flush out enemies of America which had been accomplished with capture and killing of terror fountainhead al Quada head Osama-bin Laden, not for the generation of war, 3. The US forces were not there (in Civil War infected country) to build nation, and lastly, 4. To concentrate in Indo-Pacific region where America’s close allies are facing increasing threats from belligerent Communist China now.

Though the told reason ‘to concentrate in Indo-Pacific’ is a welcome move and deserve applause, yet the trust -that the oldest and powerful democracy is trusted ally for democracies- has been evaporated with smoke from terror blast near Kabul Airport, killing of selected Afghnis, who had worked for US and NATO forces from 2001-2021, and in fight between Pakistan Army backed Taliban forces and Northern Alliance, which was part of democratic governments in Afghanistan, in Pansjhir Valley since western forces withdrawal. Here, it should be noted that Northern Alliance relentlessly fights the Pakistan backed terror regime in Kabul without any visible outside support.

Anyway, what have to happen in the hapless Afghanistan, where for last four decades millions have been suffering with loss of their nears and dears and their dislocations, which have severe impacts on economy, social and cultural lives, and human right violations beyond repair in century, for factually no fault of them, happened believing that the wisdom of the most powerful person on the earth is unquestionable? But, if the same is repeated in Indo-Pacific region in which Communist China has territorial disputes with majority of her neighbours including littoral countries of South China Sea on which PRC claims her sovereignty based on dubious historical evidences and sabre-rattling the sea’s littoral countries –majority of them are democratically ruled- throwing to Pacific Ocean the time tested United Nation Convention for the Law of the Seas(UNCLOS) provisions, and particularly in democratically self-ruled Taiwan -now on the top of the hit list of Chinese belligerent leader Xi Jinping- to start with, a virtual protectorate of Super Power going by her Taiwan Relations Act (TRA) 1979 and June 11 Mark Milley, Chairman of the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff, confirmation during a congressional hearing that ‘the country is capable of defending Taiwan in the event of a People’s Liberation Army invasion from China’, this will be a great disaster for the democratic movement in the world.

Geographically tiny island nation Democratic Taiwan with population of 24 million, GDP $668 billion and annual military spending of around $11 billions is just 130KM to 180KM away from giant China with population of 1400 million, GDP $15 trillion and military spending of $209 billion. Already Chinese leadership has made its intention towards Taiwan clear saying that latter is a renegade part of mainland China, is to be annexed with PRC ‘if required by force’. And People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) has been violating Taiwan Air Defense Identification Zone(ADIZ) in regular interval sending sophisticated fighter jets including bombers. In the meanwhile, People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) has been the world’s largest Naval Force in conventional sense acquiring 350 worships far ahead of so far largest Naval Force that is US Navy and planning to increase the number to 450 within a decade. Is this preparation not enough to go beyond on-going violation of ADIZ to occupation of isle nation a la Russia occupied Crimea in 2014 and Taliban occupation of Kabul within days of the US force withdrawal from Afghan Soil in the recent past?

Yes, Democratic Taiwan vows to defend her independence comes what way. But, it is difficult to believe that despite Taiwan’s determination, the isle nation is safe going by the giant PRC’s determination and its leaders recently exhibited belligerence and land hunger. Again, in the recent days, the US is found focused towards China in Indo-Pacific. But, where is the tangible action on the ground befitting the latest development in South China Sea? Just sending aircraft carriers, frigates, etc. to Taiwan Strait and South China Sea, military exercises in Western Pacific and Indian Oceans, sending so and so US administration officials and Parliamentarian to Taiwan and diplomatic rhetoric here and there won’t work.

The nearest US’s bases in the region are there in Japan and Guam which are far away from Taiwan compare to distance from China. In view of this, if truly the US and democratic world including Japan, South Korea, India, Australia, etc. wants promotion of democracy vis-à-vis oligarchy-autocracy in the name of socialism in Indo-Pacific region which is axle of world economy’s supply-chain with 61% world population and 62% of world GDP, they should forthwith give up their one-sided obsession with one-nation-theory of China, open their embassies in Taipai and set up military bases in the island nation simultaneously forthwith for tangible deterrent. Otherwise, PRC occupation of Taiwan is matter of years which has been candidly forecasted by the US Joint Chiefs of Staff when he said, “China unlikely to try to militarily seize Taiwan in near future”, means “China likely to try to militarily seize Taiwan in distance future”. What is the duration of ‘near future’ and ‘distance future’, nobody has fixed.

Let us work to save Democratic Taiwan in ‘distance future’ building credible deterrent without loss of time. If failed, Taiwan Island could be a huge unsinkable aircraft carrier for belligerent China in the Western Pacific and its surrounding sea may lose human civilization’s common heritage status.

Bomb of allegations in Maharashtra: An unending saga

0

It seems that the allegations and counter allegations have become a daily dose for some of the politicians, in non another in Maharashtra. It’s 2021 and we are seeing another big clash between the MVA and the BJP.

It’s been more than a month since the Cruise Drug Bust Case but the press conference- counter press conference isn’t getting a break. It has become a daily schedule probably like some of TV soap operas, that we see the press conference of Mr. Nawab Malik who is a Cabinet Minister in Aghadi Sarkar who daily addresses and is unrelenting in his allegations against NCB and the central government thus landing them into another state-center tussle.

However, this is not a first time that we have seen them clashing, since last year and early this year we have seen the Centre and State were in loggerheads with each other.

The Saga of Allegations: Where did it began from? Round 1: Nawab Malik V/S Sameer Wankhede and Family

This all began just after the NCB arrested Aryan Khan and several other cases under sections of NDPS act in Cruise Drug Bust case, after a long battle he and 2 others got bail from Bombay High Court on 28th October 2021.

Even as he was in jail, Nawab Malik raised questions on the probe and raised various allegations against Sameer Wankhede while accusing him of extortion. He put some pictures of him and his sister on social media. Wankhede retorted strongly and denied the allegations.

Malik raised questions on the witnesses and there was a huge twist in the case when Prabhakar Sail who was the witness in the Cruise case who leveled extortion allegations against NCB. As of now, there is a vigilance probe by NCB to look into matter though while Aryan’s bail application was in Bombay High Court, his legal team denied any allegation of extortion and said they have nothing to do with politics into the case.

However the matter got more personal because when the cabinet minister Nawab Malik made birth-certificate of Sameer Wankhede public and through a tweet took a dig at him and his family while also making the details and photos of his 1st wedding public. With things getting this murkier, the Wankhede Family has hit back and has filed defamation case against Nawab Malik which is in the High Court.

Round 2: Nawab Malik V/S Fadnavis and BJP: It gets Political:

In Nawab Malik’s series of press conference, even as his relentless allegations continued he found a new target and this time it was a political one: Former CM Devendra Fadnavis and his wife Amruta Fadnavis. He released some photos on social media claiming that the former CM and his wife had linked to some alleged drug peddler Jaydeep Rana.

Later the Former CM too retorted and said that he will expose him and his links with the underworld. He said that there will be ‘Post Diwali Bomb’ Amruta Fadnavis has too sent a legal notice to Nawab Malik for his allegations against her.

Post Diwali Bomb Vs Hydrogen Bomb Vs Nuclear bomb:

As promised the Former CM Devendra Fadnavis did a press conference and leveled serious allegations against Nawab Malik and put forth some documents. He alleged that NCP minister had struck a property deal with 1993 Mumbai Blast convict Shah Wali Khan and Mohd. Salim Ishaq Patel who is considered to be the aide of Haseena Parkar.

Addressing the media at the BJP headquarters in Mumbai, Fadnavis disclosed:

“A prime property of 2.80 acres at LBS Marg in Kurla was brought by Solidus Investment Private Limited for a meager Rs 30 lakh. The signatory of the deal transacted was Faraz Malik, son of Nawab Malik.”

https://indianexpress.com/article/cities/mumbai/fadnavis-questions-nawab-malik-on-land-deal-with-underworld-7615728/

Nawab Malik held a high post in the company but had resigned before taking charge of the ministerial post in the state government in 2019. Malik’s wife, Mehjbeen Nawab Malik, and son, Aamir Malik, are the directors of the company.

Nawab Malik retorted to Fadnavis by calming a counter expose on him, he claimed that he will drop hydrogen bomb against Fadnavis and next day he claimed that the former CM shielded criminals and have links with underworld and also named Hyder Azam and Haji Arafat and leveled allegations against them too, Hyder Azam said that he will drop ‘Nuclear Bomb’ against Malik.

In this series of ‘BOMB OF ALLEGATIONS’, only thing which has been going on is the press conference and seems unending. Allegations like property deals with those who were involved in 1993 blasts need to be probed, and this should be investigated. This shouldn’t be a mere spectacle for the media.

Rising prominence of local political parties

0

2021 has been a bad year for the major political parties in India. Out of a total of 5 State elections, both the BJP and Congress lost three to local parties i.e. TMC in West Bengal, AIADMK in Tamil Nadu and CPI(M) in Kerala. On the other hand, BJP won only in Assam and Puducherry due to their alliance with All India N.R. Congress. Some critics might say this is due to the decreasing popularity of both the BJP and Congress, there might be another reason for the same i.e. Rise of Local Political Parties.

If you are everything to everybody then you will end up being a nobody has proven terrible for Congress in the last decade. They wanted to please everybody but ended up pleasing nobody. Although, for BJP, a party that had stood for its Hindutva stance for decades found critics claiming that it hasn’t done much for their core voter base while trying to please people outside their voter base. Therefore, we can see over the last seven years, even though people want BJP to rule the Centre, they are choosing local political parties in their respective states. A case in example is AAP, although, AAP won spectacularly in the 2020 Delhi elections, they had lost 39 out of 40 seats just 8 months prior in the General Elections.

The main reasons why people choose Local political parties as opposed to Major parties are:

They represent people’s voices better

India is a large country with very heterogeneous demography. It is difficult for a party to make policies that benefit all. It becomes more difficult for parties who hold a centrist view because if they tilt left, they lose population on the right and vice versa. Therefore, it becomes easier for local parties to represent people’s voices better since they are usually incorporated around a homogenous population. Take the example of Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, since its inception, the party has held a view which is the upliftment of Marathi Manus. Hence, their party members and voters mostly constitute a homogenous population. Therefore, Shiv Sena can do a better job representing the voice of the Marathi Manus than BJP.

Ground Support

Political Parties need two things mainly to contest an election- money and manpower. Parties such as INC and BJP have the finance to contest elections but what they lack is the manpower. An added advantage of local political parties is that their membership is mostly circled around a certain group of people which is mostly homogenous in nature. Although BJP might get their ground support from RSS, we have often seen them allying with local parties for local support. Hence, local parties tend to have a better popularity in terms of the natives.

MPs vs MLAs

To also understand why people prefer local state parties in their Assembly elections as to national parties in the General Election, we need to understand the difference of work which an MLA does as opposed to MPs.

MPs are representatives of a constituency who represent their view in the Parliament whereas an MLA represents a constituency in the General assembly. The Indian Constitution provides three lists, namely, Union, State and Concurrent through which Centre, State and both Centre and State can make laws respectively.

The Union list deals with matters of national importance such as defence, foreign affairs, banking, atomic energy, railways, post etc. whereas State lists deal with matters like public order, prisons, public health, production, manufacture, transport, purchase and sale of intoxicating liquors, agricultural education and research, fisheries, state public services etc.

A common look over these matters will show that the State deals with matters which a common man goes through on a day to day basis whilst matters dealt by the Centre, although important, only deal with matters which do not affect the daily lives of people. Therefore, when it comes to the representation of voices in daily lives, citizens choose local state parties as they would know the ground reality better.

Local Parties have existed for a long time in India but over the past few years, they enjoy the front seat in state politics. The rise of State parties in Elections has decentralised the political system in India which will give power back to the hands of the people

Was Hindu Temples destruction by Mahmud only for monetary gains?

0

It baffles the mind when we come across accounts from prominent historians who white-wash the genocidal attempts on Hindus committed by Islamic invaders – calling them merely as raids to gain territory and monetary benefits rather than the more insidious goal of destroying the Hindu civilization. Even more astounding is when these historians propound fictional ‘Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb’ of perpetrators defending the victims in medieval India (remember the recent incident when some peacefuls formed a human chain the protect a temple – only for people to uncover that it was a ruse?)

I’m sharing this article I had published some years back to refresh people’s memories –

This article will need to be published in multiple parts, given that there are many important and relevant historical instances that need to be highlighted. These are historical events that had been recorded by numerous Islamic historians who’s works were then translated by different English authors, most of them back in the early 1900s.

Let’s start with one of the early Islamic rulers – Mahmud of Ghazni. The information below comes from the historical books – ‘Translation of the Tarikh-i-Sultan Mahmud-i-Ghaznavi : or, The history of Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni / [Mahomed Kasim Astarabadi]’,  ‘The Muhammadans, 1001-1761 A.D. By J. D. Rees. Rees, J. D.’, ‘Tabakat-i-Nasiri: A general history of the Muhammadan dynasties of Asia, including Hindustan by The Maulana Minhaj-Ud-Din, Abu-Umar-I-Usman’, ‘Bibliotheca Indica. v. [1]’, ‘The history of India as told by its own historians. The local Muhammadan dynasties – Gujarat – By the late Sir Edward Clive Bayley, K.C.S.I.’, ‘Kitab-i-Yamini by Al Utbi’.

Mahmud of Ghazni (Afghanistan)

Mahmud was born in AD 971 in Ghazni, eastern Afghanistan. Among his first attacks on India, on the order of Amir Sabuktagin (his father), Mahmud destroyed a temple on the bank of the River Sodra (Chenab). This was even before he became a ruler. He was called a Ghazi primarily because he fought against the non-Muslims. He is said to have invaded Hindustan around 16 to 17 times, each time wreaking havoc and committing atrocities on the natives there.

He is known to have said – “whenever I am at leisure from the affairs of my kingdom I will spend most of my time in going to Hindustan and wage a Holy War”.

In the year 1001 AD, in his war against Jaipal fought in current Peshawar, its recorded – “Sultan Mahmud behaved bravely and victory fell to him, so he become famous as a Ghazi; and he captured Jaipal with fifteen men, who were some his sons and some his relations, and he killed five thousand Hindus and brought back much plunder. And he took from the necks of those prisoners sixteen necklaces, and those necklaces are called in the Hindi language ‘Mala’ and people fixed the price of each necklace at one lac and eighty thousand gold mohurs.”

The Kangra attack:

In the year 1008 AD, after winning the war against Anandpal (son of Jaipal), its noted – “to make firm his religion he determined (to wage) a holy war against the infidels of Nagarkot in Kangra (Kangra was given the name because of the ancient plastic surgeons who provided services to royals to improve their looks and soldiers who were injured during wars – now in Himachal), and to destroy their idol-houses and started. And at that time that fort was famous as the fort of Bhim, (and) when the Sultan reached, he ordered it to be besieged, and killed many people in the neighborhood. Seven lakhs of gold mohurs and eight hundred maunds (1 maund ~ 15kg at that time) of gold and silver vessels and two hundred maunds pure gold and two thousand maunds of virgin silver and twenty maunds of assorted jewels which had been collected there since the time of Bhim”.

In a separate account of that raid its mentioned that he decamped with 1,400 lbs of gold and silver plate, 400 lbs of golden ingots, 4000 lbs of silver bullion, 40 lbs weight of pearls, corals, diamonds and rubies valued at 313,333 pounds sterling. According to historical accounts by royalkangra – “After loading the booty on camels, the Sultan returned to Ghazni where he displayed his loot to the citizens of Ghazni.

It is believed that he ordered the idol of Ambika Mata to be cut and made into weights to measure beef (cow-meat), the base of the idol was crushed and sprinkled on the path which leads to the Mecca-Madina. The gold canopy of the goddess was melted and turned into the Sultans bathing tub.”

The destruction of Thanesar:

In the year 1011 AD, its noted by the historians – “a longing for holy war again was born (in his mind) and he started for Thanesar, which is one of the countries of Hindustan, because someone had said to him that Thanesar is, in the opinion of the Hindus, the comparison, in honor equal to Mecca the Great, and that in it there is an ancient idol-house in which the Hindus have made many idols, and the greatest among them (all) is called Jag-som, and this is the belief of the infidels that when the world was born that idol was born with it.” [Thanesar – possibly coming from the word Sthanishwar – Place/abode of the lord, is situated in current Haryana.

The Sthaneshwar Mahadev Temple, whose presiding deity is Lord Shiva, is believed to be place where the Pandavas with Krishna prayed to Lord Shiva and received his blessings for victory in the battle of Mahabharata.]

On coming to know of Mahmud’s intentions, when Anandpal pleaded with him not to destroy the temple, the Sultan answered – “In the religion of the Musalmans it is (laid down that this is) a meritorious act that anyone who may destroy the place of worship of the heathen he will reap great reward on the day of judgment, and my intention is to remove entirely idols from the cities of Hindustan.

How then can I prevent myself from going to Thanesar”. Before the kings could prepare to defend Thanesar, Mahmud reached it and its recorded – “.. he plundered it (Thanesar) at his ease, and broke all the idols and sent (the idol) Jag-som to Ghazni (with orders that) it should be placed in the road, so that everyone might pass over it and trample it under his feet ; and he found so great a treasure in the temples that it could not be counted.” After that, Mahmud dispatched a little less than two hundred thousand slave-girls and slaves from Hindustan and returned to Ghazni.

It is said that that year they counted the city of Ghazni as one of the cities of Hindustan, because many slaves and slave-girls had fallen to each noble there.

In the year 1013 AD, while trying to defeat Anadpal’s son Trilochanapala in the Kashmir valley, the historians write – “Sultan plundered much wealth in that valley, and reconciled many people to (joining the) Musalman faith, then he returned to Ghazni”

The destruction of Mathura:

In the year 1018 AD, Mahmud marched toward Mathura. The historians write– “He reached his destination without anxiety and without interference, and plundered the city and burnt the idol-houses of the city and neighborhood, and broke the idols and much wealth came into his hands. And he was so astonished at the sight of those buildings (which he found there) that he sent a letter to the nobles and chiefs of Ghazni, and wrote this paragraph in it: ‘In this city there are a thousand buildings with foundations (as strong) as the sky and most of them are built of marble, and there are so many idol-houses in them that they are beyond counting; and if anyone should desire to build such buildings, then if he were to spend a lakh of gold mohurs on expert builders, he would (hardly) complete it in two hundred years.’” It is said that – “he found amongst them five idols of pure gold, in the eye-sockets of which they put sapphires (and) all those sapphires were valued at fifty thousand rupees. There was another idol of gold in which they had inserted a plate of emeralds, which in weight was 400 miskals (1 miskal = 4.25g).

When they had broken up that idol eight thousand three hundred miskals of gold were got from it, and of idols of silver, great and small, there were more than one hundred, (and) when they broke them all up they loaded a hundred camels with them.

After this they set fire to all the buildings, (and) when twenty days had passed they marched from that place.”

In a similar rendition in history, its noted – “Among the lord’s idols in that temple, there were 5 made of red gold, each 5 yards high, fixed in air without support… In the city of Mathura, there were a thousand houses, to which idol temples were attached. The sultan gave orders that all temples should be burnt by naphtha and fire and levelled with the ground.”

The attack on Kanauj:

On his way to Kanauj, Mahmud destroyed 7 forts on the banks of the Ganga and of all the gorgeous shrines, not a single was spared. Its noted – “The Sultan reached those forts and was taking a view of the (surrounding) countries (when) it chanced that his eye fell on an idol-house which, in the belief of the Hindus, was standing for four thousand years.

In those forts and idol-houses everything that the Musalmans found they took possession of..” Utbi – Mahmud’s court historian narrated about that expedition – “The Sultan then opposed the fortresses of Kanûj; and he beheld seven castles, placed upon the margin of the water of the Ganges. Nearly ten thousand temples were built in these forts, and these lying idolaters declared that the date of the commencement of those fabrics was two or three hundred thousand years, and from this confident belief derived pride and pretension.

Their trust in them was continually recurring, under all circumstances, for they were desirous to deposit money therein, and in time of need made processions around them, humbly imploring aid. The greater number of the people had deserted their homes, from terror at the Sultan, but some remained. The Sultan in one day took all those fortresses and plundered them, and thence turned to the fortress of Manaj, called the Brahmin’s Castle. The Sultan levelled to the ground every fort.. and the inhabitants of them either accepted Islam or took up arms against him”.

The aftermath of the attack on Kanauj in 1018 AD, resulted in – “.. twenty thousand gold pieces and a thousand thousand rupees and fifty thousand slave, female and male, and three hundred and fifty elephants, and there was much other property.”

In that attack, its mentioned that the loot and prisoners (Hindus) were such great in number that the slave markets of Persia were glutted and a servant could be bought for a couple of shillings.

In the year 1021 AD, Mahmud again attacked the kingdoms of Kirat near Turkestan (which was part of Hindustan) and Nardin (Punjab). Under the threat of the sword he made the king of Kirat and his subjects accept Islam. In his attack on Nardin its mentioned – “The Sultan sent Hajib All, the son of Altaian Jazib to Nardin; He, when he got there, conquered that place and many slave-girls and slaves and (much) property came into his hands, and there was a great idol-house there, and when he destroyed it an engraved stone was found. in it which (showed that the idol) had been, in the belief of the Hindus, built for, 40,000 years.”

The Somnath attack:

As noted by the Islamic historians in their accounts of Mahmud, the Somnath idol was thought to be from the time of lord Krishna and that it was 4,000 years old. According to the Brahmins, lord Krishna disappeared from earth from that place. “And in the temple of Somnath on nights or days when the moon or the sun is eclipsed more than two or three lakhs of people would assemble, and from distant countries people would bring offerings to it, and all the villages with which (various) rulers of Hindustan had endowed Somnath were said to be two thousand (in number.) And two thousand Brahmans used continually to worship Somnath, and every night they used to bathe it in fresh water from the Ganges… And in the treasury of Somnath so many small idols of gold and silver were found that people could not count them.”

That was the very significance of the Somnath temple. In the year 1024 AD, after coming to know of the importance of this temple, Mahmud led a war campaign to destroy it. In the war that followed its noted by historians that Mahmud’s army – “slew five thousand heretics… (he saw) in the fort an idol-house which had been built so long and broad, that it had fifty-six pillars and all were studded with jewels. And Somnath was an idol of stone five yards long, of which two yards were in the earth and three yards out..” In another version of that incident by Col. G.B. Malleson, its mentioned “Band after band of the defenders (Hindus) retreated in the temple of Somnath and with their hands clasped around their necks, wept and passionately entreated Mahmud to spare them.

Then again they tried to put up a fight, till they were slain and but a few were left alive. These took to the seas in boats to make their escape, but the Musulmans over-took them and some were killed and some were drowned.” In another excerpt from Tarikh-i-Alfi its mentioned that as soon as Mahmud cast his eyes on the God’s idol he lifted his battle-axe with much anger and struck it with such force that that the idol broke into pieces. The fragments of it were ordered to be taken to Ghaznin and were cast down at the threshold/steps of Jami Masjid [to be walked on daily by people visiting there].

According to Ibn-Asir, by the time he completed the Somnath massacre the number of slain exceeded fifty thousand. In another version by Stanley Lane-Poole (1907), according to records on Somnath attack by Mahmud – “Fifty thousand Hindus suffered (died) for their faith, and the sacred shrine was sacked to the joy of the true believers. The great stone (shiva-ling) was cast down, and its fragments carried off to grace the conquerors palace. The temple gates were set up at Ghazni, and a million pounds worth of treasure rewarded the iconoclast”. According to the translation of ‘Tarikh-i-sultan Mahmud-i-Ghanznavi’ – ‘Mahmud struck it so in the face that he broke the face. After that he gave orders (and) took two pieces from it (and) sent them to Ghazni.

One lie put in the doorway of the Friday mosque, and the other lie put in the palace of the King’s audience hall. For six hundred years those pieces (of the idol) lay there and people used to see them. And he separated two more pieces of Somnath and sent them to Mecca and Medina (so) that they might pave-them in the main roads that poor and great- might walk over them”.

An apt gist of Mahmud was again written by one of his historians – ‘When Sultan Mahmud ascended the throne of sovereignty, his illustrious deeds became manifest unto all mankind within the pale of Islam, when he converted so many thousands of idol-temples into masjids, and captured so many of the cities of Hindustan, and overthrew and subdued its Raes.’

———————————————————————————————–

These are but some examples of Mahmud’s savagery on Bharat and its native population where his objective was the annihilation of Hinduism, destruction of temples and murtis and imposing the Islamic way of life by the sword.

The question we should ask ourselves – with so many accounts where Mahmud Ghazni’s intentions were not only monetary loot but equally (if not more) important to destroy the Hindu civilization – why are there prominent historians amongst us who choose to not only look the other way, but portray a false view of those accounts? By presenting a skewed version of historical events – who are they trying to please?

Why India must stay involved in Afghan Peace Process

0

Pakistan and China’s efforts to eviscerate American presence in Afghanistan and the removal of the Afghan National government from Kabul by openly inserting Pakistani regulars to topple the Afghan government had succeeded but the stability of the Taliban’s government is proving to be an arduous undertaking.

How do you face the militant Haqqani group who performed miraculous terrorist acts on behalf of the Inter-Service Agency to pave the way for the reintroduction of the Taliban in Kabul? As long as the Haqqani group is in the driver seat there are no chances for the participation of the moderates in forming the coalition government. China’s Foreign Minister Mr. Wang summoned ISI chief Faiz Hammed (who was orchestrating the Afghan coup) to Beijing to measure the progress and weigh in on the negative developments and impressed upon him that how important it is for China to restore stability in the region to make progress on OBOR projects. A military-to-Military message followed upon Hameed’s departure. Mr. Wang was unimpressed.

The newly installed Taliban government remains unrecognized and remains as a stopgap temporary government. The international community and lending institutions would like to see a broad-based coalition with certain guarantees such as restoring women’s rights, education access, reopening the border for those who want to emigrate, and no hosting of any terror groups against any states. So far there is a very little or no progress has taken place except some loose statements not attributed to real power brokers.

China’s primary interest was confined to deterring the ISIS-Khorasan group, which is determined to set Uighursthan free from Chinese clutches. In addition to that China would like to resume its long coveted OBOR project in Asia while exploiting certain mining interests in Afghanistan. This cannot happen when the region is in turmoil and rife with terrorist groups of all stripes and colors. On the other hand, Pakistan’s interests are very different than China’s and broader in scale. Pakistan wants to create a proxy state that will carry out Pakistan’s directives against neighboring states like India, Iran, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. The last three states are also members of central Asian States aligned with Russia for their security. Russia and India shared the same interest along with Central Asian states in maintaining the neutrality of this new Afghan state with the protection of its minorities that includes Afghanistan’s citizens of Hazara, Uzbeks, and Tajiks origins.

There lies the Rub. Will Pakistan order Haqqani to stand down to create a coalition government that protects the rights of minorities that will require a moderate form of Islam and not a
Deobandi version? To create international acceptance of Taliban states, ISI will have to perform “heavy lifting” and find ways to purge the Haqqani group that forms the armed wing of the Taliban movement that uses the strict interpretation of sharia Laws.

At Russia’s request, the meeting was organized involving national security chiefs of Russia, India, the Taliban, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. The absent invitees were Pakistan and China, two iron brothers and outlaws of Asia.

In military-to-military talks after the Wang-Hammed meeting, Chief of Army Staff General Bajwa was briefed by his Chinese counterpart and conveyed the displeasure of China’s high command. Bajwa took steps and removed Hameed and assigned Lt Gen Nadeem Ahmed Anjum as a new ISI chief. This infuriated Prime minister Imran khan because he owes his present Job as a Prime minister of Pakistan to Hammed. After a few exchanges and protest meetings with Bajwa, Imran had no choice but to accept that change. In the end, the military runs Pakistan and not Imran. Global Times reported that another meeting is scheduled in Rawalpindi, Pakistan but It includes china, Russia,USA and few other states except India. Again, this is not expected to do the Job.

In addition to that Russia realizes that the Afghan situation will remain unsettled for some time due to unstable Pakistan and China’s concern that militancy will pour over her border. Pakistan and Afghanistan have no monies to stabilize Afghanistan unless Afghans sort things out for themselves. AUKUS development and new regional alignment involving UAE, Israel, and India who like to maintain their “strategic autonomy” has rekindled Russian interest in India.

The stable long-term arms purchase relationship with reliable Russia and developing a new mutually beneficial relationship with Israel and UAE serves India’s national interest while cementing and furthering ties with like-minded democracies of the USA, UK, and France.

Just as Rafael purchases from France, arms purchases from the USA, the newly formed relationships involve a partnership with Israel in developing new defense technologies. Adding to that we must switch to cleaner energy and newly generated LNG from Russia adds a new dimension to time-tested friendship while giving a boost to Indo-Russian ties and making progress towards meeting the Paris climate pledge.

During the last fortnight, Russia’s first Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) — specifically designed for emergency transportation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) via the Baltic Sea to Kaliningrad Oblast was delivered successfully its first consignment without much fanfare and publicity. Russia’s Yamal LNG production delivered its first consignment to India’s Dabhol terminal in Maharashtra by sailing through the Pacific and Indian Oceans. This should convey the message to China that sea lanes are free for everybody, and no one enjoys any exclusivities.

Why a false portrayal of Hindu festivals?

0

Every religion believes in celebrating various festivals throughout the year. Hindus also hold festivals throughout the year. The main difference is that Hindu festivals are supported by strong scientific evidence and serve as the backbone of the Indian economy. Ancestor designed the festivals in such a way that they have a positive effect on physical, mental, and social health, as well as nurturing and balancing the environment. Many western scientists have studied the scientific aspects of Hindu festivals and have clearly highlighted the importance of Hindu festivals for society and the environment.

However, a few organisations, political parties, and celebrities have a different agenda, and they raise concerns when a Hindu festival is approaching. Ignorance could be the cause, or they could be working to satisfy someone’s agenda who is working against Hindu culture 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The most recent issue is the use of firecrackers during Deepotsav celebrations. Many political leaders and celebrities have begun to spread propaganda claiming that the bursting of firecrackers increases the pollution levels. Are these people and parties unconcerned about the year-round extreme pollution? Have they offered any solutions or expressed concerns about the level of pollution? Various festivals provide a living for millions of Indians. Are these people so unconcerned about other people’s well-being? Festivals are a major factor in economic growth; do they want to derail the economy by protesting and petitioning the judicial system to put a stop to these festivals?

The main agenda is to denigrate Hindu culture, which unites everyone in society, celebrates life and the environment, promotes joy and happiness, increases revenue, and adds value to the overall economy. The selfish agenda and motive of a few political parties and celebrities is to garner vote bank based on caste division and assist conversion rackets, as well as to lead our youths into the drug menace.

Let’s take a closer look at the Deepotsav festival to get a sense of the propaganda created by these people.
Fireworks are generally set off for 2 to 3 days, with greater intensity on the day of Lakshmi Pujan. It amounts to 4 to 5% of total pollution.

According to expert studies and analyses, the main causes of pollution are Parali (burning of farm waste), vehicular pollution, industrial pollution, and the construction industry. These factors account for nearly 95 percent of pollution, but how many people are concerned about it and working to reduce it?

Any of these celebrities has ever raised public awareness about pollution. Isn’t it their responsibility to use public transportation to reduce vehicular pollution? This will also encourage their followers to take public transportation.

Festivals provide a positive outlook for the market. This Diwali, the total purchase exceeded Rs. 1.25 trillion, which was desperately needed to get overall economy back on track after the Corona fallout. Many Indian families rely on festivals for a living; the more enthusiastic the society is to celebrate the festivals, the more power to middle and neo-middle class families to strengthen their financial situation, and thus the economy. Political parties and celebrities must set aside their agendas and remember that whatever they have accomplished in their lives is due to the fact that ordinary people supported them in their rise. Isn’t it their responsibility to help ordinary people improve their standard of living?

Hindu rituals and worshipping methods for festivals never encourage hatred or bad feelings toward any person, group, religion, or environment, but rather pray for the well-being of everyone, whether they love or hate. Every practise is carefully considered in terms of its positive impact on physical, mental, and social health, the development of strength to face adversity, the development of a grateful attitude, harmony among various sections of society, and the celebration of life without drugs and illegal practises. The ultimate goal is to recognise that “Life means Enthusiasm and Love.”

The more someone tries to destroy Hindu culture, the more drug abuse, illegal activities, violence, crime against women, and corrupt mentality there will be. The simple reason is that Hindu culture teaches moral values and the purpose of life in order to improve every individual, society, environment, country, and globe for peaceful living through sharing and caring.

Is it acceptable to slaughter millions of animals during a particular festival? Although research and analysis clearly show that it has an impact on soil, water, and air pollution, no one objects to it when they object to Hindu festivals. This clearly demonstrates the biased agenda towards Hindus and Hindu festivals. This absurdity by so-called environmentalists and social reformers (political leaders and celebrities) must be strongly condemned.
