Foreign Media is the Anglophiles’ favourite plaything

Foreign media at this point is just a pathetic joke. Their journalists have become pseudo-political critics, and their outlets have long lost their credibility. It’s obvious why journalism has become a negative connotation amongst the people like me who questions the working of media. I hate people, especially the liberals post their articles on their social media platforms as if they provide any sources that could be credible. They still believe that because they’re reputable, they’re somewhat plausible. However, having a reputation does not give them any credibility.

I mean, look at Vice Media. They sure love to bring up the Kashmir Issues and the treatment of Uighurs in China. Of course, they do that to attract more viewers from both political spectra. But do you know who owns Vice Media? The Walt Disney Company (One of the owners of Vice Media, check the Wikipedia page). The same company that got under hot water for working with one of the most authoritarian regimes in the world. I’m talking about Beijing. That hot water happened when the Mulan controversy came up. To understand more, read an article I wrote on Youth Ki Awaaz, “Metal Gear Solid: Learning Lessons Of War From Video Games.” But to reiterate it:

1. Disney fired a director and an actress for making edgy jokes a decade ago and making controversial statements during the Capitol Building Riots, respectively. However, they didn’t lift a finger when their star actress said in support of state-sponsored police brutality.

2. Disney shot Mulan in the Xinjiang region, near the Uighur concentration camps. It brought uproar amongst the people, who now believe that Disney has become morally bankrupt.

Another company that comes into mind is Washington Post. As Indians, we know who works in the said outlet as the columnist? Rana Ayyub. Rana Ayyub is one of the journalists or rather detractors of PM Modi. Any take of hers has brought more controversy than I can remember. In my opinion, she’s one of those folks who are not making India’s divided political climate any better. On the contrary, she’s just adding more kerosene to the fire.

Then I did some digging about her and Washington Post. Washington Post like Vice Media loves to talk about the Kashmir issues. But I did a simple Google search about who owns Washington Post? Jeff Bezos (One of the richest people in the world). And we all know Jeff Bezos owns Amazon, one of the pioneers of the world’s e-commerce industry. The same company also got under hot water for its sweatshop operations (as well as allegedly using the Uighur Muslims for forced labour). That explains a lot about media outlets and how their political opinions do not align with their parent companies’ exploits. And that makes them a bunch of hypocrites.

Another company Al Jazeera loves to bring up human rights issues, despite being owned by the Qatar Government. The same government has been condemned for its human rights records. The New York Times was being serious about India’s Second Wave of Covid while making hit pieces on Elon Musk and Mr. Beast (M.I.A. also criticised them for their half baked journalism during the Sri Lankan Civil War). And companies like Buzzfeed and ScoopWhoop (although an Indian Company is just BuzzFeed with Indian Masala) love to produce clickbait content.

Foreign media has become a political dumpster fire. They’re just all talk with no action. They produce nothing but clickbait and ragebait content. In India, their main demographics are the liberals and the Anglophile elites. There was a time when most of them were informative and all about truth. They sure did turn their backs on their roots. Which is why their relevance is dying out. I’m sure there are outlets which stay true to their roots. However I hardly know any of them. The ones I know are either crappy or too busy with their political agendas. Which is why I have disdain for journalism.

The puzzle of NEP implementation in DU – A possible solution

In order to facilitate implementation of NEP, Delhi University has constituted a small committee consisting of teachers and education administrators. Unfortunately, the committee is proceeding without paying attention to all the necessary aspects that must be taken into account during such an implementation. It must not be ignored that an institution as huge as Delhi University, has made several painful adjustments in the last decade till the implementation of the existing LOCF (modified CBCS) course structure. The university has very frequently been subjected to several half-cooked adventures in the names of Semesterization, FYUP followed by its withdrawal, CBCS and then modification of the same termed now as LOCF.

Fortunately for us, this time the changes are being sought based on a complete document with a well discussed and a nation-wide policy that has a plan and vision to affect reforms in this sector right from pre-nursery level to the higher education stage.

Apparently, some of the members in the committee are known to have openly expressed their reservations on the possible projections of this National Education Policy and therefore has been working with a preconceived confusions and misunderstandings. These misplaced academic activists are inexplicably convinced that this policy has an ‘undisclosed’ aim of reducing the workload and thereby enforcing abolition of teaching posts. With such a view, they are incapable of visualizing a situation wherein the policy can be implemented without affecting reduction in the teaching strength. I am completely taken aback at their twisted estimates as when a switch from 3 year to a 4 year course should have been ‘normally’ expected to result in increase of workload and requirement of teachers, it is being spread as a measure to reduce the teaching strength. In addition to this, a misleading fear is being allowed to make rounds that introduction of online teaching will force working non-permanent teachers to discontinue their jobs.

To just give everyone an overview of what do I mean to convey, let me work out some average estimate that can give us the confidence that such fears are completely unfounded are in all probably – politically driven.

It will hardly come as a surprise that on addition of one year study to a three-year program an increase of one third workload requirement is only logical to get estimated. However, the fact that the government has also asked the higher education sector to allow some component of online studies for the undergraduate students, it can also not be denied that such a step has a potential to reduce the workload. An intelligent implementor of the policy is thus left with the sole task to use this reduction to balance the requirement of increase in the workload due to an additional year of teaching.

To achieve this, I would suggest a 5-year strategy of implementing this policy. In the first phase during the initial three years the workload must be kept the same by not allowing online teaching. After that in the fourth year when the students will reach their fourth year of studies, some component of online teaching may be permitted in the first year to balance the additional workload requirement for fourth year students. In the fifth year, finally the desired 30 percent online component may be allowed so that it can almost compensate for the entire increased demand of workload due to the introduction of fourth year. This 5 year strategy will provide the education institutions the adequate time to develop some additional infrastructural requirements if any, visualized by them in this process. They will have enough time to plan to deal with any eventuality during this transformation. Meanwhile, all institutions can be assured in this strategy that their strength will remain the same during and after the implementation of this policy and thus they may proceed with their long pending demand of making permanent appointments. After all, the National Education Policy has also emphasized the requirement of having permanent teachers in the education institutions to make them keep their focus on their students as per the expectations of the society.I am illustrating a table displaying only one of the possible strategies, assuming that with the 4-year course in place, the total credit requirement will jump from 148 to 192. It has been shown that how during the entire 5-year period of implementation, the credit requirements through offline course can be maintained as 148 and the additional requirement of 44 credits can be passed on to the online teaching that will pave the way for the new-age demand of blended mode of teaching and studying recommended for new-age learners and teachers.

After all, when the OBC reservation policy required 3-year for implementation, EWS reservation required 2 year of implementation, nothing should stop us from planning a five year implementation plan for a policy as important as the National Education Policy. NEP can potentially undo the damage caused to the education sector by several short-term and poorly planned reforms over the last decade. Let it be planned in a manner that will ensure a stable workload throughout the implementation period and after it, as per the table shown above.

Should capital punishment be sentenced for rape?

“Rape is becoming so common that only the brutal ones shock us.”

Are you too acquainted with the above line? Well, that’s the exact truth depicting the circumstances we as a part of the society, experience every day or maybe every hour, and what if I say every minute! C’mon what rubbish, we don’t experience it every day, it happens somewhere in India far away from us, we live in a city which is full of Educated people and no one thinks of such act here and well if anyone even thinks he is well aware that he can’t even touch a woman in broad light. Okay! let us assume Rapes is just another word that doesn’t exist in your locality or city. And the very next day your family member gets raped! (Don’t curse me, it’s just an imagination) And there’s no outrage against the criminal and he is the son of a Minister, who using his so-called power suppresses the case. You are standing helpless with no clue to ask anyone for help, and being oppressed if you go to a higher level of justice.

Every day her mental condition is torturing you within, you are unable to find out how to get justice, there’s no one standing with you, you are all alone my friend. Would you still call “Rape” just another word that happens far away from you! Well, this is the exact situation of thousands of Indian families! Maybe you are still not being familiar with the word “Rape” and thinking that why would it even happen to your family member. There’s a small task just Google “Rape” and enter the name of the city in which you reside, you would find thousands of cases. Mumbai being one of the safest cities for women in India has registered around 766 rape cases in 2020 even though country-wide lockdown was imposed according to police officials. Okay, one may compare the population of Mumbai to rape cases, but remember that 766 cases were registered and why among 766 your case would not be one?.

Well, India reported around 28,046 rape cases in the year 2020 that averages 77 cases per day(Source: NDTV) that’s around 6.4 per hour, and 1 in every 10 minutes. That’s like while you are reading this article one rape has happened. But that’s the official data, the crime is widespread. According to the “Mint” newspaper, around 99% of cases go unreported in India which includes marital rapes. Okay, that’s not official data but let us assume almost 30,000 cases per year which will round the graph to every 5 minutes a Rape. But, isn’t it legal to have sex after marriage and it’s the basic thing a couple of experiences and I don’t find it wrong in having sex if I have married a woman, doesn’t marriage give me a license to have sex with my wife or future partner?

That’s the basic thing which happens in an arranged marriage, you marry a stranger whom you met just 15 days ago and have sex after just knowing each other for 15 days, well that’s a different topic altogether and shall discuss it later on. And here we find a loophole in the system, “MARITAL RAPE”. In many cases, the family tries to disclose the news to avoid the so-called “Character Assassination” and let the accused marry the victim and the “Rape” case just flies like an eagle beyond the clouds. Some of the times, when the accused belong to the same family or neighborhood, to avoid any damage to the reputation both the family make an agreement of not disclosing the same and eventually either forget it or plan the marriage. And these are only a few important reasons for the cases being unreported.

Now as you have understood the word “Rape” we shall go further briefly discussing “Why Exactly Rape happens.” We will consider the report by Dr.Madhumita Pandey(Profile: https://bit.ly/3HrLM4j) on her interaction with rapist and murderer from Tihar Jail as the fundament of this article. Dr.Madhumita interviews around 100 rapists and the main sentence highlighted by her is “We need more reformative justice over retributive and do not think that stricter punishment is the answer.” And an important outcome of the report as stated by Dr.Madhumita in her interview (Reference: https://bit.ly/33Nby4c)

“Not all men convicted of rape took responsibility for their crimes or expressed a sense of remorse but there are two points to note here:

a) For a rapist to feel remorse and apologist, he must first understand and accept that his actions were wrong. Since most men in my research sample did not identify their actions as wrong ( as many of them did not understand what consent meant) they did not feel like they had anything to apologize for. They said they are not guilty.

b) There are different ways in which remorse can be expressed. Some men outrightly said that they were repenting their actions while others said that they would not want anyone to do this to their sister or daughter, highlighting that at some level they did understand that their actions were wrong.”

If this is a result of not having strict laws, why not just hang the rapist to death or give stricter punishment and the most reported punishment according to many people was ” Chopping off the genitals of accused”. There will be immense fear among the accused for the punishment and it’s true! One will think over 10 times to pursue further. Let us have a short discussion about the same. Every source has positive as well negative outcomes, the positive outcome we already know, but what about the negative one? A rapist would more be likely murder the victim to avoid any proof of the same or if the victim is known to the accused, the accused family would try to limit the case to avoid the brutal penalty and threaten the victim’s family thereby. We as an individual cannot decide fate but as a personal thought, it would be a great thing altogether, for achieving something we need to sacrifice. Leaving up to you for more thoughts on the same punishment. We can have a public execution too to create a fear that the judiciary is acting strictly. (We can discuss more methods about the same in the comment section.)

But why not reformate the mentality? Instead of thinking about the after treatment, we must focus on creating an environment where we eradicate the word “Rape”. The most important aspect that we come across is Education and it is correct to some extent but not 100%, Why not 100% true? The Indian Education system still doesn’t educate students for the Indian society, we are educating the future minds to work as an employer and to a certain extent now regarding Entrepreneurship. But do you as a reader agree that you are educated regarding moral ethics about the society, empowering for the women safety! I remember during my Secondary schooling days, the girls of our class were separately called for a hygiene session. That’s a good move but why not explain some of the points to boys too, why don’t we generalize these things! Many of you might have heard about generalizing everywhere but there’s no implementation of it. We need to start with teaching moral ethics, gender equality, caste equality. Okay, we have a solution now but is it enough?

That’s definitely not enough to serve the purpose. One of the factors influencing Rape is “Pornographic content”. Whether you agree or disagree many cases are inspired by pornographic content. Most of the rapists think that there’s no stuff called “consent” and no one dislikes sex, the videos uploaded over pornographic sites depicting several relations or some professions, and the so-called enjoyment of sex with random people in videos, forcing for sex, being harsh would increase the participation. Many relations are being spoiled through those videos and the mind gradually tends to divert its way. The way women are objectified in Bollywood songs, movies bring a negative impact in a long run. So should adult content or pornographic sites be banned in India? There’s another answer that many may say, why not put age restrictions? and keep our children away from those sites? That could be an option but who would keep children away? There’s already an age restriction but many of them find their way to sites and the internet is so widespread that nothing can stop them! But do only children see and get inspired? Many above 18 are high on hormones and many of them take the wrong step! You are free to have your views on “Should pornographic sites be completely banned?”.

The next generation learns from the previous one, and tends to follow them! Many Indian’s don’t take eve-teasing as a serious crime, it has begun a common problem for nearly 99% of Indian females, and still, we never talk about it, and what if I tell that eve-teasing is the fundamental of the concept “Rape”. There are no serious laws for eve-teasing which gradually increases the mindset to do touch their body randomly in public. Many women experience a touch on their chest and their lower back in buses, crowded places, etc. and some of them just ignore it as a thought that it was by mistake, but many women tend to feel unconscious and are unable to come out of it with constant fear. Further random touches grow eventually to grabbing intentionally and doing it for a longer time continuously which further grows to the destination “Rape”. Why not have very strict laws against eve-teasing and why not parents teach their child to correct his vision, eve-teasing is the very common crime which nearly your college mates might too be doing, why not you as an individual make a though of respecting and not sticking your eyes to girl’s body!

One of the most significant things that nearly most Indian’s (we are just limiting us to India for now) do is abusive language relating to your mother and sister! Many personally think they respect women, they love their mom and in public use abusive language relating to the women. And we as normal beings enjoy it without even reconsidering our thoughts, which happens during college mostly with friends, and we as a public laugh at it. So, are you respecting your Mom, sister? Say no to abusive language relating to Mother, sister, and whatever relations. One of the important things that happen quite frequently is using terms to refer to girls like ” Item,maal,hariyali, etc”, this may make you feel cool but it isn’t cool at all. The topic deviated a little but it has a significant role!

On accounting for the issue of “Rape” some governments are being strict to it as the bill for “Shakti act” has been passed in Maharashtra which will be providing an edge to overcome the “Rape”. Many organizations are highlighting and awareness is being spread against “Rape”, one of them being “Youth Against Rape”.

To be concluded, should capital punishment be sentenced to rapists? Well, a strict punishment along with reformative content and better educating people is the need for an hour! And we as a society can break the chain!

Boldest pushback to radical Islam is coming from the most unexpected quarters: Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia, the land of the two holiest shrines of Islam, Mecca & Medinah, is often seen as the guardian of modern Islamic world. It has been associated with puritanical religious values of Islam. However Saudi Arabia, under its ruling dispensation, took a conscious turn towards “Wahhabism” some time in the second half of the nineteenth century. Wahhabism, advocating strict enforcement of radical Islam, actually developed in the 18th century and has no direct connection with the Islam of the distant past, as practiced across Arabia. Wahhabism coupled with violent impulses of Salafism, has been the main source feeding into the global terrorism carried out in the name of Islam. That probably explains the paradox that modern commentators often stare at.

And the paradox being that while most Islamic scholars, with deep rooted knowledge of the subject, advocate that Islam has no place for terrorism and extremism, yet we see a host of global terrorist and Jihadist outfits wreaking havoc across the world, in the name of Islam. Well the scholars are right after all. These terror factories feed from the radical and aggressive teachings of Wahhabism and Salafism and not from Islam of the distant past. Wahhabism, sprang up as part of various revivalist movements across the Islamic world during the the 18th century, as imperial Islamic powers began losing peripheral territories to various challengers. Wahhabism derives its name from its chief proponent, Muhammad Ibn al-Wahab (1703-1791). It was chiefly driven by a reformist zeal founded on the belief that if Muslims were to regain lost power and glory, they must return to the fundamentals of their faith, rather than worldly ambitions. It did not talk of jihad or subjugation of others. But as with most reformist movements, it was soon hijacked by the clique of rulers and Ulemas (priests class) who just harped on the aggressive part of the message. 

The reformist Wahhabism merged with the more aggressive Salafist movement, developed in Egypt and imported into Saudi during the reign of King Faisal. While Wahhabism harped mainly on da’wa (preaching/evangelizing) to change society, Salafism advocates violence as a tool to bring the change. This cocktail of Salafism and Wahhabism came to be interpreted as a call for violence, mainly by proponents of global Jihad and terrorism across the world. Successive generations of the Saudi ruling family chose to look at this explosive cocktail rather sympathetically, as it suited them to keep the country under their stranglehold and to justify meddling across the larger Islamic world (Iran, Yemen etc) to further their global ambitions.

After the failed uprising in Saudi Arabia, against the ruling Saud family in the 1970s, the rulers of Saudi Arabia brokered peace by allowing aggressive export of Salafist inspired Wahhabism across the world, supported by its swelling coffer of petro dollars, as long as these forces did not meddle in the internal affairs of Saudi Arabia. Most proponents of violent Salafist Islam, that Saudi encouraged, were actually foreigners, mainly Egyptians. It mollified Ulemas within Saudi by strict adherence to puritanical Islam which forbade even driving of cars by women, public executions, no music strictures etc. It was this Saudi supported and Salafist-Wahhabism inspired Islam, that led to springing of seminaries across the world and rapid radicalization across the Islamic world. Most modern Muslim terrorist outfits like the Al Qaedas, ISIS, LET, JEM etc. were inspired and supported by this backbone advocating violence as a tool to establish Islam’s supremacy.

But this strategy of Saudi could not prevent it from getting singed by the fires that they actively supported outside. After the global crackdown against Jihadi terrorism intensified in the post 9/11 world, many of these radicals started coming back to Saudi. A tightly controlled society with very limited individual liberty, soon started seeing terrorist activities, which the state controlled media could no longer sweep under the carpet. In its Arab neighborhood, it recently witnessed modern Muslim countries like Iraq and Yemen, almost driven to a rubble under the brutal wave of jihadi terrorism by the likes of ISIS. With the global push towards cleaner energy in the new millennia, its vast petroleum reserves started yielding lesser and lesser returns and its economy started showing signs of faltering after a long bullish run. In a connected world of SM, the clamor for civil rights and individual liberty  became increasingly harder to suppress. The writing was on the wall for the Saudi rulers and the time to act was fast running out. Prince Muhammad Bin Salman (MBS), heir to the throne, decided to take the bull by the horns some five years back, to restore civil liberties and to wean away the economy from its excessive dependence on Oil exports. 

MBS has managed to enforce the most sweeping social changes in the Saudi society in its modern history. It includes the following-

Allowing women to drive – Saudi allowed women to drive only in 2017. While it may sound almost like a natural thing to do, but Saudi women waited for more than 30 years to achieve this small liberty. 

Changing female guardianship norms – Saudis amended their laws to allow women to travel, live and work alone without the need to be accompanied by a male guardian. Again a seemingly minor reform maybe for the liberal democracies, but a huge step in Saudi society. 

Easing restrictions on music and entertainment – Saudi allowed restaurants and cafes to play live music and hold stand up comedy shows in 2017 without fearing punishment from the religious police. Last fortnight, Saudi held a “Rave in desert” music festival where men and women were allowed to dance and mingle freely for the first time. Almost 0.2 million people participated, giving a convincing thumbs up to the reform. Our very own Sallu bhai (Salman Khan) performed live in Saudi for the first time. Reviving of cinemas is also happening in Saudi. 

Easing of visa restrictions and allowing Israel to fly over its air space – Saudi only issued work, business and pilgrimage visa. In 2019 for the first time, it allowed tourists to come in by issuing e visas to citizens of 49 countries. Tourists can now acquire multiple entry visa valid for a year. It will definitely give a push to nascent tourism industry and provide one more source of revenue, reducing its over dependence on oil revenues.  Saudi also recently allowed Israel’s commercial planes to fly over its air space. Again a seemingly routine allowance, but seen thru the prism of M.E. tensions, a huge step towards normalization of relationship with Israel. 

Banning of Tablighi Jamaat – Last but certainly not the least, we come to the step which has most significant ramifications for peace and stability across the sub continent, and a decision which has caused most heart burn amongst the leli (left liberal or shall I say pseudo liberal) lobby in India. Saudi Arabia surprised the world by banning Tablighi Jamaat, a sect preaching puritanical Islam and active mainly in the subcontinent and parts of SE Asia. The jamaat might undergo slow extinction as its funds will dry up after its patron-in chief has banned it. Tablighi philosophy is taught in many seminaries across Pakistan which form fertile recruitment grounds for Pak’s terror outfits. 

I referred to Saudi Arabia in my blog title, as the most “unexpected” quarter to mount a challenge against jihadist and violent version of Islam. Unexpected, because it would have been natural for a gullible world citizen to expect that the challenge to the jihadism and terrorism emanating from within Islam, would come, if it ever did, from the liberal free world and votaries of civil rights and liberty across modern democracies. The last thing one would have expected was a Saudi ruling prince to fast track such sweeping reforms across  his county and stand firm against all opposing it both within and without. It indeed takes nerves of steel to go against the flow and take on the entrenched interests both within the clergy and the ruling family. His bold stand is in stark contrast to the leli’s pusillanimity and capitulation in the face jihadist pressure.

In US and Europe and India, killings, stabbings, rioting and even terror attacks in the name of jihadist Islam are routinely brushed over, justified and normalized by the largely left leaning media and intellectual lobby. So Mumbai attacks and Parliament attacks by Pak terrorists were justified because the Babri structure was demolished. Left ideology and jihadist have forged a long standing alliance across the liberal world to subvert, terrorize and hijack instruments of democracy from within. Both ideologies are top driven and brook no dissent and are known to ruthlessly crush it. It is indeed ironical that these heartless lefties driven by some unknown utopia which would never be, operate under the garb of liberalism, while being most illiberal themselves.

During early part of COVID spread in India, Tablighis were responsible, deliberately or otherwise, of congregations and unrestricted travel in the times of strict lockdowns and contributed to widening and hastening of early Covid spread. Yet the lelis across MSM, judiciary and polity could not bring themselves to even utter a few lines of condemnation against their reckless behavior. Contrast this to Saudi statement calling Tablighi Jamaat as the gateway of terror when banning it. Calling a spade a spade is a rarity esp. when it concerns radicalism and jihadism within Islam. That is why Saudi action is even more awe inspiring and praise worthy. They say that a picture speaks louder than a thousand words. Recent images of Muslims desperately clinging to aero plane tyres, to escape from jihadist impulses of Taliban’s Islam and the recent Saudi actions have jolted the liberals and progressives in the Islamic world to the perils of violent jihadi impulses. The call for liberalization a in Islam will emerge from within its folds and Saudi actions might have set the ball rolling for irreversible and perhaps welcome changes in Islamic world.

My paternal uncle, an established businessman in Kanpur, emigrated from India to Canada in 2012. It was a decision of great guts to leave a thriving business and move out to a completely alien and novel environment and start from scratch and side by side take care of a family. He had to set up a whole new business in an absolutely fresh and different business environment between unknown people, leaving the comfort of a well established and flourishing business in UP. 

The question that intrigued every person was that, even after having money and establishment WHO DOES THAT? 

The simple answer to this question was, anyone who wants to live in a state where there is safety, security, standard of living, academic opportunity, social security, medical facilities and all the other things that are promised to a voter in India.

He came back after 9 years and he was flabbergasted. For the first time in his life he regretted his decision of leaving UP. From a state of turmoil and mayhem, his hometown had revamped into a progressive domain. The reasons that had forced him out were forced out themselves. 

This inter-personal story illustrates how the Modi-Yogi combination has benefitted the population of UP in both business and social aspect in an unprecedented manner.

COMMERCE :

According to the Uttar Pradesh State Presentation Report by the India Brand Equity Foundation ( IBEF ), The Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of Uttar Pradesh grew at a CAGR of around 8.43% between 2015-16 and 2020-21 to reach Rs. 17.06 trillion (US$ 234.96 billion). The Net State Domestic Product (NSDP) grew at a CAGR of around 8.42% between 2015-16 and 2020-21 to reach Rs. 15.12 trillion (US$ 208.34 billion).

It is worth mentioning here that industrialists are making massive investments in Uttar Pradesh because of improved law and order as well as increased ease in doing business and in logistics in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Uttar Pradesh ranks second in ease of doing business in the country today, thanks to Yogi Government’s industry-friendly policies.

The Uttar Pradesh government plans to launch its own e-commerce website dedicated to goods identified under the states flagship scheme of one district-one product (ODOP). Further an ODOP Mart is also being set up by the UP Handicrafts Development & Marketing Corporation. This will benefit artisans who do not have GST registration. Buyers will also be assured of the quality and authenticity of the product which they purchase through the mart.

The aim of having such a portal is to promote the state’s handicraft at an international platform.

The state attracted Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) equity inflow worth US$ 664.66 million between October 2019 and March 2021 according to the data released by Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). In 2019, 147 investment intentions worth Rs. 16,799 crore (US$ 2.40 billion) were filed in Uttar Pradesh.

In 2019, the state recorded the fastest construction of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna with 14.26 lakh houses constructed from 2016-17 to 2019-20.

In February 2020, the state organised Defence Expo-2020 and received proposals worth Rs. 5 lakh crore (US$ 70.93 billion) for investment. Investments were focused on key sectors such as IT & ITeS, Dairy, Electronics, Tourism, Manufacturing, Renewable Energy, Agro, and Food Processing.

The state cabinet approved UP Defence and Aerospace Units and Employment Promotion Policy 2018 with an intention to generate 250 thousand jobs and attract investment worth Rs. 50,000 crores (US$ 7.46 billion) over the next five years.

State govt. also passed Uttar Pradesh Startup Policy, 2020. The objective of the policy is to be among top 3 states in Start Up ranking, establish/support a minimum 1 incubator in each district of the state and create an ecosystem for at least 10,000 startups in the state among others.

SOCIAL MEASURES : 

The Yogi Government has worked enormously for the upliftment of the backward and lower strata of the society.

Out of the 8.85 lakh houses built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 6.50 lakh have been given to Dalits. 37 lakh Dalits have been issued ration cards for the first time.  While the previous government got no work done in most backward classes-dominated 1,556 villages, the BJP government has ensured that all amenities reached there. Under the Saubhagya Yojana, 32 lakh power connections have been given to Dalits.

25 district magistrates and seven divisional commissioners are from SC or OBC categories, making up 33% and 39% of the total posts, respectively. Similarly, 25 top police officers are from Dalit community, said an official.

There has been a massive development in the sector of Women Empowerment and safety. 

According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB)-2019, there has been a 45 per cent decline in incidents of rapes, 19.80 per cent in cases of murders, 65.72 per cent in dacoities and 40.20 percent in cases of rioting. It says the state government has adopted zero tolerance towards criminals and mafiosi, and their illegally accumulated assets worth about Rs 1,000 crore have been demolished or confiscated.

The Uttar Pradesh government in August 2021 launched the third phase of ‘Mission Shakti‘ with an aim to promote safety, respect and self-reliance for women.

The main schemes implemented in this phase, were the launch of ‘Mission Shakti Kaksha’ at all the 59,000 gram panchayat bhawans, formation of one lakh women self-help groups, linking of 1.73 new beneficiaries to destitute women pension scheme, safe city project in divisional headquarters and Gautam Buddh Nagar, posting of women police personnel as beat police officers, construction of pink toilets (for women) in 1,286 police stations, special recruitment for women battalions of Provincial Armed Constabulary on 2,982 posts, deployment of women sub-inspectors in urban areas, setting up of creche in all police lines and construction of health club in women’s colleges. 

In the program, the chief minister also transferred ₹30.12 crore into the bank accounts of 1.5 lakh new beneficiaries under Kanya Sumangala Yojana. With this, the total number of girls who have been benefitted by the scheme will reach 9.36 lakh.

Schemes were introduced by the Yogi Government to promote women safety.

Safe City Project was introduced by the Governor of UP in October 2021, the Governor flagged off 100 pink scooties and 10 four-wheeler police vehicles. The central government approved the project for Lucknow at a total cost of Rs 194 crore with an aim to strengthen security of women in public places. The cost of the project was shared between the Centre and the state in 60:40 ratio.

The ‘anti-Romeo squads‘ was formed soon after Yogi Adityanath assumed office of chief minister in Uttar Pradesh, thereby fulfilling the BJP’s election promise to protect the honour of women’ once the party comes to power. In the initial year of its formation only, 2,481 FIRs were lodged and action was taken against 4,392 persons12,616,18 public places, schools, parks, bus stations, malls, markets were checked by the ‘anti-Romeo squads. 

According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB)-2019, the all-India rate of crime against women in 2019 was 62.4 cases per one lakh population while Uttar Pradesh recorded 55.4 cases per lakh. As compared to UP, crime rate was 63.1 (per lakh population) in Maharashtra, 64 in West Bengal, 69 in Madhya Pradesh and 110 in Rajasthan. Even in a small state like Kerala, the rate of crime against women stood at 62.7. schemes introduced by the state government for women’s security helped in controlling crime. In 2016, at least 3,289 rape cases were reported in UP but the figure dropped to 2,232 in 2020, showing a depreciation by 32%.

CONCLUSION :

For the first time in decades, the marginalised castes and women of Uttar Pradesh are sure of having equal opportunity and social security.

UP, under the Yogi-Modi leadership is moving forward following the Gujarat Business model. The investment done in Jewar Airport by Zurich Airport for instance, is a great example as to how UP is on its way to become a hub for Foreign Direct Investment.

In a political atmosphere like UP, where parties forever in the past have garnered votes by provoking caste groups and sects against each other, for the first time a government will be campaigning on merit. With millions of new voters like me, who will not vote on the basis of caste but on the basis of the work done by the incumbent government, BJP stands ahead of all its competitors in every aspect possible.

उत्तर प्रदेश में माफियाओं और अपराधियों पर योगी आदित्यनाथ कहर बन कर बरस रही है, 2017 से पहले जो माफिया सरकार की ही संरक्षण में रहते थे तो वही माफिया अब योगी राज में खुद जेल की ओर जाते नजर आ रहे है। 2017 के बाद योगी आदित्यनाथ की सरकार बनते ही माफियाओं और अपराधियों में डर का माहौल है।

एक के बाद एक माफियाओं की संपत्ति जब्त कर बुलडोजर चलाने का कार्य योगी सरकार कर रही है। कभी पुलिस प्रशासन को आँख दिखाने वाले माफियाओं, अपराधियों पर उत्तर प्रदेश पुलिस कहर बनकर बरस रही है अतीक अहमद, मुख्तार अंसारी ही नही बल्कि प्रदेश के 2 दर्जनों से अधिक बड़े बड़े माफियाओं पर शिकंजा कर उनके नेटवर्क को ध्वस्त किया गया।

कानून व्यवस्था को मजबूती देने के लिए प्रदेश में पूरी पारदर्शिता के साथ पुलिसकर्मियों की नियुक्ति‍ के साथ ही सभी 1535 थानों में महिला हेल्प डेस्क और 213 नए थानों का निर्माण हुआ। लखनऊ, नोएडा, वाराणसी, कानपुर में पुलिस कमिश्नर सिस्टम को लागू किया। एंटी भूमाफिया टास्क फोर्स का गठन कर आरोपियों पर कार्रवाई की। साथ ही प्रदेश में महिला सशक्तिकरण के लिए मिशन शक्ति अभियान चला रही योगी सरकार ने महिलाओं से जुड़े अपराधों पर तुरन्त कार्यवाही कर एक रिकार्ड बनाया है।

योगी आदित्यनाथ सरकार के 4 वर्ष से अधिक कार्यकाल में गेंगस्टर अधिनियम के तहत 15 अरब 74 करोड़ से अधिक की अवैध संपत्ति जब्त की गई।

विकास दुबे सहित लगातार उत्तर प्रदेश में बड़े एनकाउंटर हुए जिससे अपराधियों और माफियाओं में ख़ौफ़ का माहौल है।
जो उतर प्रदेश पहले गुंडागर्दी औऱ माफियाओं के अत्याचार से जाना जाता था वही उत्तर प्रदेश अब उत्तम प्रदेश बनता जा रहा है।

कानून व्यवस्था में भी 2017 के बाद बड़े बदलाव देखने को मिले, योगी आदित्यनाथ ने हमेशा बोल्ड फैसले लिए जिसे जनता और बड़े नेताओं ने भी पसंद किया।

कानपुर के चौबेपुर के बिकरु में सीओ समेत आठ पुलिस कर्मियों की हत्या के बाद मुख्य आरोपी विकास दूबे की संपत्ति पर बुलडोजर चलाया गया।
योगी सरकार का बुलडोजर 25 माफियाओं पर चल चुका है इसमें मुख्तार अंसारी,अतीक अहमद, बब्लू श्रीवास्तव, मोहम्मद सलीम, मोहम्मद सोहराब, मो.रुस्तम, ब्रजेश कुमार सिंह, सुभाष सिंह ठाकुर, मुनीर, खान मुबारक, आकाश जाट, अमित कसाना, उधम सिंह, योगेश भदौड़ा, उमेश राय, त्रिभुवन सिंह, सुशील उर्फ मूंछ, अजीत, संजीव माहेश्वरी, सुंदर भाटी, ध्रुव कुमार सिंह और अनिल भाटी की संपत्ति पर भी बुलडोजर चला।

सीएम योगी आदित्यनाथ ने प्रयागराज में बाहुबली माफिया और पूर्व सांसद अतीक अहमद के कब्जे से मुक्त सरकारी जमीन पर भूमि पूजन करके आवासीय योजना की आधारशिला रखी। आवासीय योजना के तहत करीब 75 फ्लैट का निर्माण होगा. ये फ्लैट गरीबों को बेहद ही सस्ते दामों में उपलब्ध कराए जाएंगे।

ओवैसी और नसिरुद्दीन शाह कि धमकी को हल्के में मत लेना

जी हाँ दोस्तों ये कड़वा पर अकाट्य सत्य है। जब इन जिहादियों के द्वारा दी गई धमकी को हमने “धर्म निर्पेक्षता” के एनक से देखने का दुस्साहस किया तब तब निरपराध हिन्दुओ का सामूहिक नरसंहार हुआ, उनकी माताओ और बहनो का पाशविक बलात्कार हुआ उनकी पत्नियों के कोख को चीरकर संसार मे आने को उत्सुक बच्चो को निकलकर, उन्हें हवा में उछालकर भाले को नोक से बेध दिया गया।

इतिहास साक्ष्य प्रस्तुत करते हुए हमें सावधान करता है और कहता कि याद करो
१:- जब अंग्रेज ईसाईयों ने तुर्की के इस्लामिक खलीफा को उखाड़ फेकने के लिए क्रुसेड किया तो भारत में बैठे अली भाईयो और अन्य इस्लामिक नेताओं ने मिलकर “खलिफत आंदोलन” का एलान कर दिया और इसमें मुसलिम तुष्टिकरण कि निति के कारण कान्ग्रेस ने भी साथ दिया। राष्ट्र के स्वतन्त्रता संग्राम से जुड़े कई बड़े और महान नेताओं ने खलीफत आंदोलन से दूर रहने कि आवाज़ उठाई पर मुसलिम तुष्टिकरण कि निति के आगे नतमस्तक हो गए पर इसका दुष्परिणाम निरपराध हिन्दुओ को उठाना पड़ा। इधर ईसाईयों ने तुर्की से ओटोमन साम्राज्य के आखिरी खलीफा को उखाड़ फेका और उधर भारत के केरल में मोपला मुसलमानो ने अपना असली जिहाद दिखाना शुरू किया और हजारों हिन्दुओ का कत्ल कर डाला, हजारों बच्चीयों के साथ सामूहिक बलात्कार किया, बूढ़ी बूढ़ी औरतों के साथ भी अपना मुँह काला कर उनका कत्ल कर दिया, उनकी सारी सम्पत्ति लूट ली और कॉन्ग्रेसी चुपचाप इस सामूहिक नरसंहार को देखते रहे। कॉन्ग्रेसीयो ने इन्हें हल्के में लिया और हजारों कि संख्या में हिन्दु खत्म कर दिए गए।

२:- जब मोहम्मद अली जिन्ना, जवाहर लाल नेहरू से हो रहे मतभेदों के कारण कान्ग्रेस को तोड़कर अलग पार्टी बनाने कि धमकी देते तो कॉन्ग्रेसी और अन्य कॉन्ग्रेसवादी इसे हल्के में लेते और आखिरकार जिन्ना ने पार्टी तोड़कर अपनी एक अलग पार्टी “मुसलिम लीग” बना ली। फिर जब मोहम्मद अली जिन्ना ने मुसलमानो को लेकर अलग दृष्टिकोण अपनाया तो एक बार फिर कॉन्ग्रेसी और अन्य कॉन्ग्रेसवादीयो ने इसे हल्के में लिया और इस कारण हिंदुओ ने भी इसे हल्के में लिया। आखिरकार जिन्ना ने मुस्लिमो के लिए अलग राष्ट्र कि माँग जोर शोर से उठा दी और अपनी हिस्सेदारी माँग ली, पर कॉन्ग्रेसी और अन्य कॉन्ग्रेसवादी और कॉन्ग्रेस पर भरोसा करने वाले हिन्दुओ ने इसे हल्के में ले लिया, परिणामस्वरुप मोहम्मद अली जिन्ना ने मुसलमानो कि ताकत दिखाने के लिए Direct Action Day कि घोषणा कर दी, मासूम बेचारे हिन्दू अभी भी इस आशा में थे कि कॉन्ग्रेसी और अन्य कॉन्ग्रेसवादी मिलकर उन्हें बचा लेंगे, कुछ नहीं होगा, पर परिणाम क्या निकला Direct Action Day पर मुसलिम लीग के शांतिदूतों ने हिन्दुओ को उनके घरों से खिचकर गली में ले जाकर काटना शुरू कर दिया, औरतों और बच्चीयों को सबके सामने सामूहिक बलात्कार का शिकार बनाया गया, बच्चे, बूढ़े, जवान, बीमार किसी को भी नहीं बख्शा गया और उन्हें गाजर मूली से भी भयानक तरीके से काटा गया। कॉन्ग्रेसी और अन्य कॉन्ग्रेसवादीयो के मुसलिम तुष्टिकरण का ये परिणाम था।

३:- जम्मू कश्मीर में जब पाक परस्त मुसलिम आतंकी वंहा के हिन्दुओ को कहते थे कि कश्मीर छोड़ कर चलें जाओ नहीं तो खत्म कर दिए जाओगे, तो वंहा के हिन्दू और तब कि सरकार इसे हल्के में लेते थे। आतंकी छोटे छोटे समूहों में हिन्दुओ के कत्ल कर अपने इरादों को दुनिया के सामने ला रहे थे पर तब भी वंहा के हिन्दुओ ने इसे हल्के में लिया। फिर पाकिस्तान कि सहायता से एक आतंकी ने जम्मू कश्मीर लिब्रेशन फ्रंट नामक एक आतंकी समूह बनाया और खुले आम हिन्दुओ को जम्मू कश्मीर छोड़ कर चलें जाने कि धमकिया दी जाने लगी, उनकी औरतों और बच्चीयों को अगवा किया जाने लगा और इसके साथ हि हिन्दुओ का बड़े पैमाने पर कत्ले आमशुरू हो गया। कोढ में खाज तब हुआ जब केंद्र में विश्वनाथ प्रताप सिंह कि सरकार बनी और देश में पहली बार एक शांतिदूत को गृहमंत्री बनाया गया और फिर क्या था , कश्मीर के आतंकियों को मुँह मांगी मुराद मिल गई और वर्ष १९९० और १९९२ के मध्य करीब ४ लाख हिंदुओ को अपनी जन्मभूमि छोड़ कर भागना पड़ा, क्योंकि उनके इबादतगाहों से सीधे सीधे पैगाम आने लगा कि हिन्दुओ तुम अपनी बीबीयो, बच्चीयों और बहन बेटियों को छोड़कर चलें जाओ वरना अंजाम भुगतने के लिए तैयार रहो और फिर दिया गया समाप्त होने पर घरो से खींच खींच कर काटा जाने लगा। क्रूरता का तांडव इतना था कि एक ट्यूशन पढ़ाने वाली शिक्षिका जो सही सलामत कश्मीर छोड़ कर निकल आयी थी, उसको कई कसमे वादे करके और ट्यूशन फीस देने के नाम पर उसका विश्वास जीतकर उसे पुन: उन हैवानों ने उसे बुलाया और जब वो मासूम वंहा पहुंची तो उसके साथ सामूहिक बलात्कार किया गया और उसे जिंदा पेट से चिरकर दो भागो में काट दिया गया।

इतिहास के गर्भ में ऐसी कई तारीखे हैं जब ओवैसी और नसिरुद्दीन शाह जैसे जिहादियों ने धमकीया देनी शुरू कि और पूरी तैयारी कर लेने के पश्चात् हिंदुओ पर दरिंदो कि तरह धावा बोल दिया गया। हमें याद रखना चाहिए कि हमारे देश का बटवारा धर्म के नाम पर इन्हीं जिहादियों ने मोहम्मद अली जिन्ना के नेतृत्व में कराया था,परन्तु जिन लोगों ने मुस्लिम लीग को वोट दिया था वो सम्पूर्ण ” गजवा ए हिंद” करने के लिए आज भी ताक में बैठे हैं, क्योंकि आधा “गजवा ए हिंद” वो पाकिस्तान लेकर पहले हि कर चुके हैं।

आज एक बार फिर छोटा ओवैसी १५ मिनट पुलिस हटाने पर १०० करोड़ को सबक सिखाने कि धमकी देता है। आज सलमान खुर्शीद हिंदुओ को बोको हराम और ISIS के बराबर रखता है। आज वारिस पठान २० करोड़ मुसलमानो के साथ चढाई करने कि बात करता है। आज नसिरुद्दीन शाह मुसलमानो द्वारा गृह युद्ध छेड़ने कि धमकी देता है। आज बड़ा ओवैसी कभी यह कहते हुए धमकी देता है कि यदि मोदी और योगी चलें गए तो तुम्हें कौन बचायेगा, कभी अपनी हिस्सेदारी मांगता है तो कभी मुसलमानो के लिए आरक्षण कि माँग करता है।

उनके रसूल के ऊपर टिप्पड़ी करने पर स्वर्गीय कमलेश तिवारी को दो वर्ष के बाद उनके हि घर में दोस्त के भेष में घुसकर ये शांतिदूत बड़े शांतिपूर्ण ढंग से उनका गला काट देते हैं और गोली मार देते हैं। पर माता कौशल्या और माता सीता के ऊपर अश्लील टिप्पड़ी करने वाला अकबरउद्दीन ओवैसी आज भी जिंदा है और हिन्दुओ का लगातार अपमान करता रहता है।

स्वर्गिय् रिंकू शर्मा को दिल्ली के एक इलाके में केवल “जय श्रीराम” बोलने पर उन शांतिदूतों द्वारा कत्ल कर दिया जाता है, जिनकी मदद रिंकू शर्मा वक़्त बेवक्त करता रहता था यंहा तक कि एक हत्यारे कि बीबी को तो उसने अपने शरीर का खून भी दान में दिया था।

साथियों ये सब महज संयोग नहीं है, अपितु एक भयानक प्रयोग है, जो हमें हाल हि के दिनों में दिल्ली के दंगो में देखने को मिल गया और यही नहीं ये तो भला हो मोदी जी का जिन्होंने कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह के द्वारा दी गई रिपोर्ट पर भरोसा करके किसान क़ानून को रद्द कर दिया अन्यथा एक और प्रयोग का भयानक मंजर हमें देखने को मिलता।

धर्मसंसद में हमारे साधु संतो ने जो कुछ उपदेश दिया वो यूँ हि नहीं दिया अपितु आज से हम अपने शास्त्र और शस्त्र दोनों पर भरोसा नहीं करेंगे तो पारसियों, यहुदियों और रेड इंडियन्स कि तरह मिटा दिए जाएँगे। हमें शास्त्र और शस्त्र दोनों को अपनाना होगा और याद रखो मर्यादा #पुरुषोत्तम भगवान श्रीराम के हाथो में धनुष बाण, भगवान् श्रीकृष्ण के हाथो में सुदर्शन चक्र, परमेश्वर शिव के हाथो में त्रिशूल, भगवान् इंद्र के हाथो में वज्र, भगवान् बजरंगबली के हाथों में गदा यूँ हि नहीं दिखाई देता। ये सभी शास्त्रों के प्रकांड विद्वान् हैं परन्तु शस्त्र पर भी उतना हि भरोसा करते हैं। अहिंसा परमो धर्म:, धर्म हिंसा तथैव च! इसीलिए गीता अध्याय ४ श्लोक ७ और ८ में उपदेश देते हुए परमेश्वर कहते हैं “
यदा यदा हि धर्मस्य ग्लानिर्भवति भारत।
अभ्युत्थानमधर्मस्य तदात्मानं सृजाम्यहम्॥
परित्राणाय साधूनां विनाशाय च दुष्कृताम् ।
धर्मसंस्थापनार्थाय सम्भवामि युगे युगे ॥॥

अर्थात :- मैं अवतार लेता हूं, मैं प्रकट होता हूं ,जब जब धर्म की हानि होती है, तब तब मैं आता हूं। जब जब अधर्म बढ़ता है तब तब मैं साकार रूप से लोगों के सम्मुख प्रकट होता हूं, सज्जन लोगों की रक्षा के लिए मै आता हूं, दुष्टों के विनाश करने के लिए मैं आता हूं, धर्म की स्थापना के लिए में आता हूं और युग युग में जन्म लेता हूं।

अब यंहा चर्खा चलाकार या तुष्टिकरण कि निति अपनाकर या अधर्मीयों के दुष्कृत्यों के प्रति आंखे मुदकर धर्म कि स्थापना नहीं कि जा सकती उसके लिए कभी धनुष बाण, कभी त्रिशूल, कभी गदा तो कभी सुदर्शन चक्र उठाकर और अधर्मीयों का सर्वनाश कर हि धर्म को स्थापित किया जा सकता है।

From India to Bharat- Brand Bharat is becoming a reality

Recently there is a chaos regarding Hindu, Hindutva for whatsoever reasons but somehow timed before 5 Indian states are going in the democratic process of election, out of which 4 of them are ruled by the BJP. And these series of events, made me feel, why rebranding India to Bharat is a important process which have been dynamically developed by the present prime minister Mr. Modi.

A country especially like Bharat can never be defined in just territorial entity but in its cultural and heritage terms. It’s the culture, heritage those differs a lot from states to states but a basic feature is there where makes us proud and one as an Indian rather Bharatiya. When Bharat go her independence from the clutches of the repressive British rule, there was two options in the table either choose Brand India or Brand Bharat. Thanks or no thanks, Nehru bulldozed his vision and used the Brand India as the newly born country in domestic and international stage. The fundamental difference between Brand India and brand Bharat is, India is a country which has got its independence from the British Rule and its starting its independent chapter from 1947 or technically 1950 when we enacted our constitution. 1950 is the year zero for our nation, whereas Brand Bharat was a continuing Bharat from Vedas to the modern Indian Constitution and beyond.

Bharat does not means Hindu, at least if Hindusim means religion to some. But as Indian we share tradition and culture which has been in us, passed down generation after generation, has got secular identity but was traditionally practised by our fore father’s then who were basically Hindus, a religion/way of life born in Bharat. But yes similarly, many other thing cultural identities are passed down from other religion or ethic group, which has become part and parcel of India and its culture. None should be thrown away or disregarded; they must be embraced and respected.

The problem is there is a pseudo intellectual mindset, that Modi’s India is a Hindu India, where Hindu’s are the first class citizens and other’s a second class which is bogus and tarnish the unity of India. Modi attended the  World Islamic Sufi Conference 2016 in New Delhi, inaugurated the Kartarpur Corridor even rebuild the Kashi Viswanath Corridor. So this is Modi’s New India, revivial of Brand Bharat, which has a history, a legacy which is secular from the times immemorial. New Bharat is not only a IT giant but also a history rich country. Taj Mahal is not the only attraction in India, Sommanth Temple is also magnificent.

India has seen differences on religion or ethnicity both from majorities and minorities side, which occurred, in every era of it’s history. Still it can proudly be the flag bearer of secularism.

But sadly, certain time, certain group of individual feels too insecure in India, maybe not because they lose their religion or but electoral mandate.

Thursday, 23rd December, 2021 has been a rare good day for Tamizh Hindutvadis, or ‘Sanghis’ as we call ourselves. A Goondas case foisted onto a Socio-Political commentator Kishore K Swamy on the basis of a few tweets and hazy claims of ‘abusive comments’ against women has been quashed by the High Court. He had been in jail for over six months. Prominent Nationalist youtuber Maridhas Malaichamy, jailed on a manufactured ‘forgery’ case from 2020 which was used as a pretext to keep him in jail after the High Court quashed another Goondas case against him for a tweet, was also granted bail by the Madurai bench. Further, Shibin, a young proud Hindu arrested from Kanyakumari for tweets, was also given bail and will be home with family for the holidays. Thought/speech/political dissidence merits arrest in Tamil Nadu these days while several criminals sit in the legislature as MLAs.

There have been numerous clarion calls in mainstream Indian and International media regarding free speech curbs and burgeoning ‘fascism’ due to arrests of persons dubbed ‘activists’. What is sauce for the goose in this case is certainly not sauce for the gander; we have seen arrests of prominent Hindutva leaning journalists in non-BJP states and no one bats an eyelid. The elite media screams intolerance when the proletariat (dubbed ‘Hindutva mob’) voices opposition to flagrantly false and inherently xenophobic statements by ‘unbiased’ media/celebrities or uber rich influencers whine about feeling unsafe/attacked. The same crowd is completely mum when a mob with sticks and weapons forces a business to bring down an innocuous, lighthearted video featuring the hereditary upper caste INC heir, or indeed, when a different kind of mob gets on the streets to riot and call for beheading based on facebook posts. This is of course all of a piece with the prevalent ethics of the day which deem a crime notice-worthy only if the victim and perpetrator belong to select identity groups.

This is the backdrop against which Maridhas and Kishore have been arrested; not a peep about democracy and freedom of expression from the so called unbiased media. Maridhas was arrested for the following deleted tweet:

In the tweet he starts by asking a rhetorical question – Is Tamil Nadu turning into another Kashmir? – and proceeds to say ‘If there is freedom here to create a group that can indulge in large scale treachery against the nation, then there are possibilities of large scale plotting also. Separatist forces should be suppressed’

Now, it must be understood that this tweet was made due to several TN SM handles snidely and even directly lauding and celebrating the horrific copter accident where the DCS Shri Bipin Rawat and several bravehearts lost their lives. These are too numerous to list; This youtube video by  Einstein and Agathiyar catalogues quite a few. There are worse instances, like this video in a popular Tamil YouTube channel where an ‘activist’ Piyush Manush commits blood libel and demonizes the Indian Army, accuses army men of massacres and mass rapes, spreads lies about NIA etc. One must remember that with the Rajiv Gandhi murder and the RSS office bombing in 1993, as well as several small incidents like this bomb blast, Tamil Nadu is definitely prey to such separatist sentiments via this propaganda. Many terrorists apprehended in India hail from Tamil Nadu. It’s shocking that instead of so much as reprimanding persons making the offensive posts and seditious videos – perhaps because most of these persons are ideologically aligned with the DMK –  the ruling party and their police arm decided to go for influencers who had issued an important warning about the dire consequences of nurturing separatism.

The arrest of Shri Maridhas has gotten national attention but is not the first arrest of a nationalist for ideology related tweets. A few months ago, a right-wing social media influencer Kishore K Swamy was arrested for sedition in the dead of the night; purportedly for ‘defamation’ of DMK leaders. Following are the headlines; it must be noted that left wing/congress supporters and influencers are branded ‘Activists’ as though they are politically neutral, but nationalist activists and commentators are always branded ‘BJP supporters’ or ‘Right Wing’.

Complaint that wrong viewpoints were registered about Arignar Anna, Kalaignar (Karunanidhi), and TN CM Stalin, and for abusive words towards female journalists.

Kishore also destroyed the façade of unity and decency surrounding the Dravidian movement by tweeting about infighting in the highest levels; this infighting became so ugly that the ‘leaders’ and the famous poet Bharatidasan attacked each other with the worst personal taunts involving the ladies of each other’s families. He further qualified every tweet by referring to the source of the information:

Kishore K Swamy is a salty character, not exactly endearing to all factions of society. He has undeniably used politically incorrect and unparliamentary language on many occasions. 

However, trash talk comes naturally to the other side to the highest levels. Sitting MP Thol Tirumavalan called for the end of Sanatana Dharma and said that Hindu women are considered prostitutes therein; INC MP Jothimani called for stoning the PM while A Raja of DMK attacked he former CM EPS’s mother in a derogatory way regarding his paternity. DMK supporter and poet Vairamuthu has over 10 #metoo charges of actual sexual harassment and abuse against him but has been left untouched. As for abusive language, it is enough to see the replies from the so-called Dravidian stock under prominent Lady BJP members such as Ms. Gayathri Raghuram or Ms. Khushboo Sundar; Mr. Kishore’s comments pale in comparison to the hate and sexually tinged abuse in the replies. No action at all against these flagrant offenders. In contrast, the Goondas act was thrown on Kishore K Swamy who was jailed over 6 months for tweets.

The champions of free speech have not opened their mouths about these frivolous arrests; actual acts of Fascism designed to punish citizens for sharing facts about the ruling party. 

In fact, In July 2021, citizens in TN received a solid declaration of commitment AGAINST free speech  from the DGP, Tamil Nadu. Note that in the true spirit of fascism, the tweet disallows replies:

The above notice starts with hyperbole about Social Media and news media which it calls the 4th pillar of democracy. The notice goes on to say that some post ‘defamatory’ views criticizing the elected government and/or disturb peace by criticizing religions on Social Media for ‘self-advertisement’. The notice says that such people cause law and order problems and threatens them with arrest irrespective of gender! In view of the arrests of dissenters of one ideology alone, everyone knew how this would end; twitter users had analyzed the import of the notice nicely:

The public on both sides have no illusions whatsoever regarding this notice by the new DGP of Tamil Nadu, who, as noted by the Twitterati, reports directly to CM MK Stalin. The DMK supporters, so called ‘rationalists’ and ‘free speech enthusiasts’, in one voice, laud this stifling of Hindutvadis; a stifling justified by the usual smears – bigots, casteists, fascists, cow piss drinkers etc.-  used to invalidate Hindutvadis. 

The Tamil Language media and some English dailies such as The Hindu pay lip service to free speech and are ever ready to start a media glitz in support of the odd Kashmiri terrorist or Naxal Sympathizer. It would not have been surprising if they had remained mum about the Arrest of Maridhas and the attempt to curb his voice; After all, as already mentioned, Indian mainstream media is famous for classifying crimes and ‘threats to democracy’ as noteworthy only if the victim and perpetrators belong to specific identity groups. But what is mind blowing – and proof that the Tamil media functions, for most part, as an arm of the DMK – is the fact that they issued a press release endorsing and welcoming the arrest!

With media captured by the ruling party, it is not surprising that DMK supporters are a frenzied lot –  rather than looking into a claim or examining an issue rationally, they have a juvenile ‘us vs them’ attitude best expressed through tweets such as this; where a so-called ‘dravidian stock’ handle exults at this shameful press release and takes pleasure that ’Sangis’ (the abhorred ‘other’) are ‘lamenting’ media bias.

One may wonder why the DMK is so sensitive specifically about Social Media posts that highlight separatist forces in Tamil Nadu, and the separatist antecedents of the DMK. The DMK is playing a dangerous double game. A Dharmic government would have the welfare of society as a primary goal. The goal of DMK has always been to hold on to the reins of power at any cost; they achieve this by sowing seeds of disgruntlement within Tamizhians with respect to their standing in India, pitching Tamizhians against the rest of India, and by supporting separatist activists and issuing separatist tropes 

To this end, they have been referring to the Central government as ‘Union Government’ by willfully misrepresenting the constitution. They did this under the guise of ‘healthy federalism’. Their own minister Ponmudi has said that the CM will no longer entertain the words ‘Jai Hind’ ! 

Spokesperson Constantine Ravindran has declared that certain problematic social media influencers will be taught a lesson in a chilling video where he says he would maim dissenters who criticize the DMK in an ‘unsubstantiated manner’ showing a hand gesture that implies cutting with scissors.

Meanwhile, the current Tamil CM himself has himself issued shocking separatist statements that he has later taken back. In the clip from March, 2018, he says he would welcome formation of a Dravida Nadu consisting of Southern states and hopes for such a development. Even Kashmiri leaders have not made such statements. Six months later; perhaps because his words went pan-India more than anything else, he makes a U-Turn and says that Arignar Anna had given up the demand for a separate Dravida Nadu but that people are ‘spreading propaganda’ that he wants/welcomes Dravida Nadu. 

In this poisonous speech, A sitting MP and the CM’s sister proudly says that there was doubt if the Prime Minister would be safe if he sets foot in Tamil nadu, though he travels all over the world, and for this reason, he had take a copter between two locations in Chennai; and that ‘Thalabathi’ (her brother and the sitting CM) is responsible for this fear when the Prime Minister comes to Tamil Nadu.

This sort of quasi-separatist rhetoric has kept the DMK in power (at least on ideological grounds) but has also resulted in a couple of generations of weaponized citizenry who are set against the idea of a Tamil Nadu that snugly fits within the Indian Republic; as long as the DMK and its ideology hold Tamil Nadu captive through Media control, this group will only get bigger and more dangerous; a bigger group will also foster violent elements.

The wide eyed woke main stream media has simply ignored even the terrible human rights violations, rapes and murders carried out by TMC on innocent, mostly oppressed-class voters simply for exercising their franchise. Not a single human interest story, not a single vigil by the usual ‘upholders of democracy’. Since Hindu lives are so cheap, Hindu liberty is even cheaper – National media has only praise for the DMK government, they call this emerging fascist and quasi-separatist state a champion of free speech and good governance. The quashing of the cases is in part due to an unbiased judge;not a given in every case.

Shri H Raja, senior RSS/BJP reader was jailed for protesting outside Bharathiar University and released today; Senior BJP Leader Shri Kalyanaraman remains in jail on flimsy pretexts. Egregious attempts to silence and smear pro-Hindu voices are ubiquitous in Tamil Nadu under the aegis of the DMK.
