Sampoorna Hindutva—the complete Hinduness

Which one of the following options broadly describes you as a Hindu?

  1. I know Sanatana Dharma. But I am afraid to organise and lead the Dharmik cause on the ground. Also, I can’t donate money to the Dharmik cause. Moreover, I don’t want to follow a leader who organises for the Dharmik cause on the ground.
  2. I don’t know Sanatana Dharma. But I am willing to organise and lead the Dharmik cause on the ground. However, I don’t have the money for the Dharmik cause. Also, I don’t want to follow someone else who organises for the Dharmik cause on the ground.
  3. I don’t know Sanatana Dharma. Also, I am afraid to organise and lead the Dharmik cause on the ground. But, I can donate money to the Dharmik cause. However, I don’t want to follow a leader who organises for the Dharmik cause on the ground.
  4. I don’t know Sanatana Dharma. Also, I am afraid to organise and lead the Dharmik cause on the ground. Moreover, I can’t donate money to the Dharmik cause. But, I am willing to follow a leader who organises for the Dharmik cause on the ground.

Now, wouldn’t it be perfect if you were to know Sanatana Dharma, be able to organise and lead the Dharmik cause on the ground, be able to donate regularly for the Dharmik cause, and also be able to follow a strong Dharmik leader on the ground?

The Purusha Suktham of the Rig Veda scientifically identifies the 4 broad classes of human beings across the world based on their personalities, interests and behaviours (not birth):

  • Brahmins—the intellectual class
  • Kshatriyas—the leadership class
  • Vysyas—the trading class
  • Shudras—the working class

Known as the “varna” system, this immutable sociological truth transcends space and time. From antiquity to today, we see these 4 classes all around us all the time. Few people are knowledgeable, some are courageous, many are wealthy, and most are rendering service for a livelihood. However, in today’s vulnerable Bharat where Sanatana Dharma is still decentralised and disorganised, can a Hindu afford to be:

  • knowledgeable of Sanatana Dharma, but is cowardly, poor, and selfish?
  • courageous, but ignorant of Sanatana Dharma, poor, and selfish?
  • wealthy, but ignorant of Sanatana Dharma, cowardly, and selfish?
  • service-oriented, but ignorant of Sanatana Dharma, cowardly, and poor?

The correct translation of the Samskritam term “Hindutva” is “Hinduness” or the state of being Hindu. To guide the Hindu, ancient Hindu rishis have given meaningful and powerful symbols in the form of 4 key deities—Saraswati, Shakti, Lakshmi, and Hanuman. Thus, Hinduness must have 4 dimensions:

  • Brahmanatva = Knowledgeable, as represented by Ma Saraswati—the power of Brahma.
  • Kshatriyatva = Courageous, as represented by Ma Shakti—the power of Shiva.
  • Vysyatva = Financially prudent, as represented by Ma Lakshmi—the power of Vishnu.
  • Shudratva = Seva-oriented, as represented by Lord Hanuman—the embodiment of selfless action, Karma Yogi.

After the transfer of power (not independence) in 1947, Bharat’s “social justice” decimated Brahmanta, and its “sickularism” decimated Kshatriyata of Hindus, reducing them to being merely money-minded and job-oriented (i.e., government jobs and tech coolies for the West). However, by the turn of last decade, social media began to stir the Hindu’s lost Brahmanta and Kshatriyata.

This is what frightens the Hinduphobic, anti-civilizational BIFs (breaking-India forces). Thus, their intolerant, hate campaign against Hindutva—the reawakening of complete Hinduness. I would not call it just “Hindutva” but “Sampoorna Hindutva”.

Always remember: “Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitaha”—if you protect Dharma, Dharma will protect you.

Jai Hind!

Why Aamir Khan is wrong

0

Muhammad Aamir Hussain Khan, popularly known as Mr. Perfectionist is one of the most popular and successful Bollywood entertainers. He is having millions of followers both in India and abroad and his movies are widely watched by millions. No one can deny the fact that he is one of the most talented actors in Bollywood film industry but his dark side and hypocrisy has brought a lot of criticism from people.

Starting with the intolerance debate that was sparked when Narendra Modi came into power, Khan was one of the first ones to jump into it. In one interview, he claimed that his wife and children were feeling unsafe in today’s India and wanted to move abroad due to religious intolerance growing in the country. Not realizing the power of social media and a new awakening among the majority of the Indians, Khan was badly trolled and criticized. He was totally taken aback after witnessing the rage amongst people including his ardent fans and followers. Later, he had to come up with made up stories and clarifications to clear his image. He realized that the country is no more the same when people like him enjoyed all the rights even after abusing masses and running propaganda against the country. Since then, Khan has hardly been seen appearing in interviews from mainstream media. This was the first time when people started observing him, his all-dark side and hypocrisy unfolded one by one.

Let’s start with his preaching of secularism and religious tolerance. He married a Hindu but his own tolerance vanished when he openly said he wants his children to follow Islam and nothing else. He does not want his children to freely choose the faith they want to follow neither his wife (now divorced) has been given any right to have her say in the matter. The beheading of Kamlesh Tiwari by Islamists just for making Facebook post against Islamic figures, his murder got no condemnation from Aamir Khan. One or two incidents of lynching of Muslims, which is highly condemnable, was made into a complete religious intolerance debate which Khan supported wholeheartedly. His 2014 film-PK portrayed Hindu gods and goddesses in a disgraceful manner. Yet, his film was commercially successful and let us not forget that majority of his viewers are Hindus themselves. The vast majority of Hindus accepted it as a part of art, creativity and there was no protest anywhere, hence the question arises where is the intolerance?

Again, Khan came into controversy when he met First Lady of Turkey back in 2020 during his visit to the country that too at a time when Turkey’s President made statement against India and Hindus and ranted on Kashmir issue when article 370 was abrogated. As a public figure and someone who somehow represents his nation abroad, did not even consider not meeting those who made anti India statement and ran propaganda against Hindus at world stage. Meeting the first lady at Hagia Sophia which was turned into a mosque, was no problem for Khan but he passed no comments on Bhoomi Pujan of Ram Temple in Ayodhya the same year. Aamir was certain to not to meet Israeli PM during his official visit to India in 2018 at a time when India – Israel was coming together like never before. Few Bollywood stars including Amitabh Bachchan had a fine meeting with the leader but all the Khans including Aamir were missing. So, the question arises, what is more important for Aamir- his country or religion or his image that’d have got a stain in the middle east or in his community after meeting the Israeli PM?

Coming to his films, he has come under scanner for twisting facts and misleading the viewers. Starting with Mangal Pandey, a film based on the freedom fighter with the same name as of the film, was shown as a devout Brahmin who revolted against the British after he found out that the cartridges used in the weapons were made up of animal meat which went against his religious beliefs which resulted in the revolt and started the 1857 war of independence. Although the facts are still misleading but acceptable to some extent, the most misleading part in the film was his relation with a prostitute which historically is unproven and there are no records regarding this fact.

Even after this shameless attempt to tarnish the image of the legend Mangal Pandey, Aamir Khan didn’t stop his subtle propaganda against real life heroes. Another film Dangal which went on to become his highest grossing film, showed the real-life story of wrestlers Geeta and Babita Phogat. The film showed him as father of both the wrestlers, who were forced by him to consume meat in order to become better in the sport. But in reality, both the sisters never consume meat and yet manage to beg medals and rewards at international level. Khan chose to portray this lie in the film when majority of the viewers are Hindus and amongst Hindus, many are strictly vegetarian due to their religious beliefs.

Whether spitting on the hands of heroines before film shoot or meeting controversial Pakistani Islamic preacher Tariq Jameel or turning blind eye on regressive and medieval era practices like triple talaq in Muslim society, Aamir Khan’s dubious character has been exposed now. It is up to the Indian viewers to treat Khan normally like any other film actor or continue to consider him as an intellectual like the media and elites do.

Source : Magzter

Source : Post Card News

India! Why so hate?

0

They say hate in India is increasing and Muslims are afraid, Hindus have become more and more radical, Islamophobia is increasing and at the same time they deny the fact that there is also Hinduphobia, they ignore the fact that Hindus too did suffer lynching and forced conversions throughout the world. I have my own opinion on this which I have shared below, why is this hate in India, why are people so angry and what may be a solution.

I saw news yesterday, that after the Hijab controversy and the announcement of band by the Muslim community against the Karnataka High court’s verdict, Karnataka people are not allowing Muslims to put shops in Hindu festivals on temple property, Gujarat wants to teach Bhagwat Geeta, Uttrakhand announces UCC to be the first thing in assembly, and all Hindus are happy and celebrating, but isn’t this injustice for the Muslims? Now they will have to live like equal humans and be governed by state laws also they will not be allowed to earn from Hindu temples and will have to learn something other than Quran! Which is horrifying!

What has happened to India why are the majority so intolerant, why are Hindus so aggressive?

Every pseudo secular is asking the same. Why suddenly Hindus feel the need to hate Muslims?

This is not true, Hindu people do not hate Muslims but they do fear Islam, because they have read some verses written about them, and the atheists. They know how a radical Muslim treats a non Muslim or a women for that matter. The world has given them examples and they fear for the same fate for India, they fear when they see, the ghettos in their city, they fear when they see the talks in Islamic universities, they fear when they see the treatment of their daughters in places they are majority and they fear when they hear Maulanas calling for Jihad from loudspeakers of Masjids. Why are they afraid you say, they are afraid for their life if they come to power, they have learnt the real history of India, the romanticism of the Mughals in the history books, the love for Malik, all they have seen now. So they fear, not hate, but fear.

Islamophobia you say, yes it may be, but isn’t it genuine? Yesterday they killed Puja, because she didn’t marry nor convert, in 1990 they wanted women without men, shooting kids and bombing schools have been a hobby, from 14% to 8% in Bangladesh and 1.5% at present in Pakistan, Afghanistan has the same story! Where have the Hindu gone? These goons enjoy the fear, and often they enjoy the appeasement too.

They were favored always by the government as the other 80% was nothing or was taken for granted. Well every relationship breaks, every love fails, when you take your partner for granted, and you not only took us for granted you betrayed us cheated us several times, when there was a Shah Bano, locks of the Ayodhaya janmbhumi, erasing our history, making us guilty of the sins we never did, ignoring Kashmir in 1947, then you forgot there are people in Tibet and then you sent Indians to kill Indians in Sri Lanka. You failed us, you betrayed us, and the. You kept taking sides on which we were not present, then someone came and took our hand and said “you also have something to be proud of” and ” you deserve to be loved”. They listened they cared, and so we reciprocated. Then you said this is a false victory, the anger began, they put forward many reforms you brought your gang and protested to the point that it turned into a riot, several were killed, stabbed to death, but you said it was a pogrom, again you failed us, and favored them, you shouted from universities that you will break our bharat maa into pieces, and then someone said “15 min ke liye police hata do”, so I say, this hate as you say it is not a result of a political party that you say, but it’s your political party which fed that fury, you cannot corner a cat, because at last it will defend itself with the claws, but it’s not too late.

Hindus don’t hate Muslims as I said, they hate the ideologies which harm them, to assure peace, communities have to come together and talk, there must be compromises, from both sides, and Hindus are majority should be understood and some respect not all, but some should be given to the people. Uniform civil code should be implemented throughout the country to ensure there are no constitutional difference between any community. Tolerance should be taught to the radicals.

Movies like kashmir files should be acknowledged and the community should apologise like the Germans did, right now they do not even acknowledge that. All they do is what aboutry. Unity is not something which comes from just one side, we tried, we have tried for 75 years now, it’s time you lend a hand before us. You did the compromise. Hindus have understood their standing in this democracy and they have become “pushpa” for now. Also why should only one community compromise?

It’s so simple, hindus are not hating people by nature, they are loving people, our scriptures allow an atheist to be a hindu as “sanathan dharma” is the eternal duty of life, and it doesn’t involve worshiping all the time but doing one’s rightful duty to this world, so all you have to do is acknowledge, apologize and learn, and then never repeat the same. Everything else the sanathan community will do, we will revive our history and intelligence in the scriptures.

Also we all came from the same forefathers, afterall we all are bharatwasi, some of us converted due to the swords of the Mughals and the Persians came before. We all follow the same rituals even when we marry, buy new things etc, which islam do not allow even. Haldi and mehndi are some examples which is only done in south asia and not in Arab or turkey. So that is also something you should acknowledge and learn. At last we all are Indians so start behaving like one.

Jai Hind.

Democrat Biden ensures authoritarian Xi Jinping’s last laugh

Prominent presence of Taiwan’s de facto ambassador in the US Presidential inauguration on 20 January 2021 overcoming four decades of precedent was presumed by many geopolitics experts then that Joe Biden true to his words would bring America to world central stage contrast to his predecessor Donald Trump policy of withdrawal with visible exception of Indo-Pacific. In his inaugural address, Biden said, “We will repair our alliances and engage with the world once again, not to meet yesterday’s challenges, but today’s and tomorrow’s. American leadership must meet this new moment of advancing authoritarianism, including the growing ambitions of China to rival the United States and the determination of Russia to damage and disrupt our democracy.”

Here, it is needed to mention that Republic of China(RoC) or Taiwan is a frontline democratic state vis-à-vis authoritarian communist China, the later has been in the meanwhile grew both economically and militarily as the biggest geopolitical competitor of not only super power democratic US but also poses considerable threats to other vibrant democracies such as Japan, South Korea and India in her immediate vicinity. Already China has butchered democracy in Hong Kong prematurely, she agreed with United Kingdom, the earlier ruler of the western colony/outpost in Asia, to preserve for fifty years post transfer of governance.

People’s Republic of China(PRC) or China becoming a competitor to only super power, which leads to multipolar from existing unipolar world order, is not a bad idea as only one super power is not at all good for civil world order. But when the new one and that too an authoritarian regime ruled state grows at the cost of her smaller and weaker neighbors that raise eyebrows. Per example, the revisionist China taking advantage of her new status first thwart and later manipulated World Health Organization (WHO) investigation of Covid19 origin, a dreaded pandemic that killed millions, pushed billions to untold poverty and pushed the world economic back by decade, a crime against humanity. As if this was not enough, China threatened Australia for being outspoken against her over WHO investigation. Apart from above, China has virtually occupied South China Sea (SCS) -an international water body and common heritage of the entire human civilization- and sabre-rattles its littoral countries. She threatens democratically run Taiwan to occupy her by force calling the island nation a renegade territory of China. And PRC, based on some self manufactured historical facts, has got border disputes with all her neighbors. Right now People’s Liberation army (PLA)’s lakhs of armed personnel sitting on Himalayan height after a bloody skirmishes in 14-15 June 2020 that killed 20 unarmed Indian soldiers throwing to Pangong Tso lake the agreements both India and China signed in mid-1990s to maintain peace on the LAC till border dispute is settled.

Within month time of inauguration, President Biden went on calling over phone the head of governments of all strategic allies and strategic partners of the country spread all over the world. And he on his own initiatives hold both virtual and physical summits of Quadrilateral Security Dialogue or QUAD with member countries, invigorated in late 2010s thus assured the democratic world that truly US under his leadership was back fully ‘engaged’ in the world centre stage. Also on 9-10 December 2021, he held ‘The Summit for Democracy’ as per his post-inauguration statement “Democracy does not happen by accident. We have to defend it, fight for it, strengthen it, renew it.”

The statements and promises are made. But when they come to action, President Biden not only has surrendered but also dangerously messed up the existing world order which was comparatively better than what he has been doing contrasting his statement and vow as quoted above. The way President Biden sticked to his predecessor’s forces withdrawal plan from Afghanistan saying ‘Americans are not there for nation building, and for generations of wars’ handing over the burgeoning democracy to dreaded Islamic terror outfit Taliban dismayed all hope of his commitment to defend, strengthen and renew democracy.

On 15 September 2021, a trilateral security pact between Australia, UK and US announced for Indo-Pacific region. Under the pact, the US and the UK will help Australia to acquire nuclear-powered submarines and cooperation on cyber capabilities, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies and additional undersea capabilities. But the pact was signed at the cost of strategic partnership that Australia had with France’s Naval Group signed in 2019 for provisioning of diesel powered submarines. Within day of announcement of AUKUS pact in The White House, France withdrew her Ambassador to Washington and Canberra. France president E Macron refused to attend the telecall from Australian PM. After a lot of persuasion, France sent back her Ambassador to the US. France, America and Britain are strategic allies as all of them are members of NATO, the most significant military grouping in the world which survived Cold War and post-CW and has been active in various conflicts resolution on the surface of the world. AUKUS Pact could have been handled without irritating France which is a residential power with naval bases in Indo-Pacific.

During Covid rein, the US under Joe Biden failed to show the unipolar super power leadership. Despite agreeing in QUAD summit to lead the world for vaccination, his administration blocked the export of essential ingredients for producing life-saving vaccines in India, the recognized vaccine manufacturer of the world though India reminded her supply of drugs during Covid pick in the US. Later India stopped Indian made ingredients to manufacture vaccines in US as a retaliatory measure that worked. Here, it is very essential to mention about the US blocking of the vaccines 4-5 times of its actual requirements depriving poor countries’ shares.

Coming back to ongoing war in Eastern Europe, though Vladimir Putin’s Russia deserves the most of the blames for the aggression on Ukraine and imposition of untold destruction and miseries on innocent Ukrainians, the US President Joe Biden is no less responsible. In fact, many of his country lead NATO policies in so far as stubborn eastward expansion of the military alliance despite absence of USSR era threat and 1990s promises not to expand eastward and Biden’s own statements have fueled the raging fire in Ukraine which directly and indirectly impacted the entire world which has not yet fully recovered from two year long devastation of dreaded pandemic, allowed by China to spread allegedly for strategic region.

At the time of Afghanistan withdrawal, many geopolitics experts were of the belief that Biden following the policies of his predecessor in The White House to concentrate in Indo-Pacific in view of Chinese threat. But instead he opened another dreaded front in relatively peaceful Eastern Europe over an issue which could have been better handled diplomatically. Many fear the way and manner Ukraine issue is being handled, it may be Europe’s Afghanistan. And who does know what Afghanistan issue contributed to promotion of monstrous terrorism which surfaces every now and then? During more than one month long ongoing war, the world has witnessed realignment of countries more dangerously than what had taken place post-WWII mostly in Europe and North America. In this situation, the authoritarian Xi Jinping seems to have the last laugh.

Though the NATO has so far remained intact, the crack in it, which had taken birth on 15 September last year with announcement of AUKUS pact, is now visible when France President Macron said “I wouldn’t use those terms” denouncing President Biden abuses of President Putin using terms such as “killer”, “butcher”, “war criminal” and “can’t remain in power” at the cost of diplomacy, and with clear regime change agenda. France, a veto holding power in UNSC, is second largest economy in European Union, seventh largest economy in the world and a significant military power. Biden should not forget that Russia meets 40% gas and 35% crude oil needs of Europe. Lately Biden Administration pressuring India and China to join western sanction against Russia though NATO countries continues to procure oil and gas from Russia via Ukraine as most of the gas and oil carrying pipelines passes through war ravaged territory. Here I like to remind all concerns that in diplomacy national interest matters the most. In the meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and UAE refused to concede to US pressure to increase crude production to stabilize fuel price during the war, Brazil joined hand with Russia, war ravaged anti-US Syria’s President Assad visited US ally UAE in oil-rich gulf region, Japan and Australia refused to condemn India’s stand in UN over Ukraine war and China hawkish Foreign Affairs minister visited New Delhi unsought. And oil rich Saudi and UAE getting closure to China. It is only matter of time that the military super power Russia joining China bandwagon.

Mystery of life & immortal soul

As everyone is aware, millions of species are in existence in our Planet Earth – both overland and deep inside the Oceans – and many more might be existing yet to be discovered deep inside the Sea. Recently it came to news that there are some life forms even deep inside the Antarctic glaziers. Has anyone at any time wondered from where these creatures and beings come from? Be it small insects that emerge after heavy rain and vanish the next day and even its corpus is hardly to be found and its life being only for a few hours; similar is the case with many such other flies, insects and minuscule living creatures, which live only for some small fraction of time. For example, if we keep some pulses, grams or cereals in a container and leave it closed or open without presence of any insects in it, but after some days, some kind of insect is sure to emerge from the contents in the container.

Similarly, it is said, insects are found even inside a boulder or big rocks. Where has the sperm for the production of such insect(s) come from? Who has given birth to them, from where have they emerged, what is the purpose of such life forms, what is their life term? They are neither a reproduction out of bisexual mating nor a result of unisexual activity. If at all they have come on their own, there is sure to be an essence or a cell or some such life-generating substance that has created them. If insects could be found inside a rock, it shows that it is a myth that oxygen and water are a pre-requisite for life to emerge. It can then well be said that it is not that for creation of any life form, oxygen and water are a pre-requisite but even some other things other than those which also matters.  Our planet is full of life emerging from water, soil, stone, ice and what not and it can be said that just like universe emerged from nothing, similarly life forms in our planet are also emerging from nothing. That’s the reason our Planet is called a ‘Living Planet’.

Even if we leave it for the time being not capable of understanding the phenomena of life, as the mystery is similar to the case of the mystery shrouding the creation of this vast Universe with its many celestial bodies, have we wondered why so many beings are in existence, what is the purpose of the birth of many beings, what is the purpose of its vanishing or dying after a stipulated period of time, where does a being or for that matter the Soul go after the death, etc. etc. Research is on and on but with no fruitful result and hardly any result might be achieved about this great secret of Nature, be any number of generations of researchers come and go.

If we talk about the concept of re-birth, there are different beliefs and theories. If some believe in reincarnation it is because their scriptures say so. The soul characterizes the essence of life, it is immortal and wears on one’s mortal body and consciousness. Like Lord Krishna had propagated in the Bhagwad Gita, the Holy book of the Hindus, that Soul (Aatma) just migrates from one body to another after death of a living body just like one changing one’s clothes. The immortal Aatma for that matter has no beginning or end – that is, no birth, no death. Even about the concept of Aatma, it is all again our belief and one can rely on those beliefs with some form of certainty, going by the differences in one’s birth form – be it being born in a royal family or a destitute, being born intact or with some handicap, being born as a human or some other species in one’s future births or, even by seeing an infant or a small child leaving this world after spending little time in this world, et al, which all seem to be the outcome of one’s deeds or in fact misdeeds in previous births to which one enters this world to pay the penance for a short period or for longer period of time.

Apparently, if one has committed little crime, he is born for a short life, like the life of an ant, housefly, etc. never knowing when they are born and when they die, with little sufferings or if one has committed a big crime in previous birth(s), one lives a long life full of sufferings waiting for the death to come. All said and done, these are some secrets of life and nature which we, the Humans, only are capable of giving a thought or at least make efforts to ponder over the same, unlike other beings on this Planet and if possible try to do only good deeds and if not possible at least do not harm anyone, thereby try to escape from this vicious cycle of births and re-births and attain Moksha.

First among a billion equals– the Rise of Narendra Modi and the resurrection of the Hindu civilization

Indian civilization is amalgamation of different cultures, it’s the melting pot in which the Persian, Islamic, Christian, Parsi, and Hindu tradition churn together to produce a poignant and colourful fabric of society. However, when you delve deeper into this enigma called India, we realize that the canvas supporting this colourful fabric of Indian society is Hinduism. This has always been the case since antiquity. There was shift of balance during the Islamic invasions of the subcontinent from the 12th century AD onwards resulting in torrents of brutality, loot, rape and plunder of the ancient civilization. After the dust had settled on this era of anarchy and unimaginable devastation on the polity an empire based on the superiority of tenants of Islam was erected on the edifice of gore and torture in the Indian heartland.

Though Mughal emperor like Akbar were wise enough to realize not push the cradle to the extent that it falls. The real and in a sense irreparable damage to the ethos of Bharat starting occurring with the British occupancy of India in the form of corporate loot of the worst kind from late 18th century and the its hangover in the aftermath of Indian independence in 1947.

In Post-independence in Nehruvian socialistic state the domination of the left liberal in the academia and intelligentsia and the so-called secular parties in the political scene has constantly fed this demon of adversarial relationship between the Hindus and the minorities particularly the Muslims. The rift and mistrust between the two communities whose seeds were sown during the partition continues to fester in the heartland of India because the regimes have failed to address the issues between the communities. The indulgence of pseudo secular policies be it shabano case related to triple talaq in 1980’s, granting special statue to the only Muslim majority state of Jammu Kashmir by virtue of the temporary article 370 or the prevarication of implementing the uniform civil code to the entire population irrespective of the has in fact been counterproductive and further alienating the youth of the Muslims making them feel entitled to different treatment.

In order to grasp this psychological phenomenon, we need to delve into this hypothetical scenario of naughty act committed by your child and his friend you would always be very strict with your own child however with the neighbour’s child, pun not intended you would be very restrained refrain from chiding them to same extent as your child as he is not part of your family. This is in fact the perverse psychology which forms the core pseudo secular politics and minority appeasement in India. If we open our eyes the result of this is easily visible across the landscape of India in the form of rampant ghettoization of minorities especially Muslims in the neo urban and rural centres of this country. For years we have been gloating on the Hindu Muslim bhai- bhai narrative whereas fanning the fire of this divide by deeply divisive policies of the past regimes, it is clearly evident in the  ghettoized nature of our housing,  where a shroud has been very conveniently been put over our the deep fault lines that exist between the two communities.

Another rather illogical line of thought which has been driving the wedge in the crevices of our cultural edifice is the left liberal intelligentsia. Who seem to equate atheism with secularism? The rationale which has promulgated is that in order to prove my secular Hindu credential I must be in a sense be a non- practising atheist or agnostic. This in a sense is Bizarre logically and culturally for the Hindu who has an inherent tolerant belief system. This line of attack is being used sinisterly and cleverly to brainwash the youth and develop a sense of shame and condescension for its Indian traditions and cultural ikons.

One is left with no option but to attribute a sinister motive to this line of thinking by the left liberals. Case in point being a recent article by leading environmentalist Sunita Narain, environmentalist par excellence named as one of the most influential person in time Magazine due to work on climate change treaties advocating in a blog why India should not be vegetarian, though I respect her credentials  as an environmentalist and from ecological perspective her arguments may well be rational  she should have known that eating habits in India is  a deeply religious spiritual and personal choice. Sunita a mind with very high IQ showed such a dearth of emotional intelligence and lack of empathy. I hope that Sunita Narain made such a statement out of naiveté that there is a section of Hindus Jains and Buddhists for whom it is very offensive and unintelligible to be advocating meat eating.

The left Liberal intellectuals know they can use similar kind of cheap shots to fight their battles with the far-right fringe but what they are not aware that it is this line of thinking which is further pushing the silent vernacular Hindu majority population in the hands of the fringe.

Ramjanambhoomi movement, Godhara carnage and the subsequent riots culminated in raising Narendra Modi to a pedestal of a Hindu icon. It can be argued that even the BJP was caught unaware of the enormity of this undercurrent of emotional exasperation of the majority community pent up for more than 1200 years. Modi is in a sense a creature of the circumstance or rather an idea whose time had come. The humble vernacular leader who is unapologetic at the same time confident in his non anglicized roots gives voice to the people long subdued by anglicized elite of this country.

In any event the inexorable tide of Hindu resurgence would have produced another phantom of a larger than life figure had it not been Narendra Modi. Modi is just a humble pawn which has been sprung to life by the forces and the pent-up emotions of years of Hindu neglect.

What we should be worried about is not Narendra Modi regime but the pent-up emotions of neglect, anger and apathy among the silent Hindu community who were left voiceless in their homeland with their indigenous traditions and cultural heritage being branded as archaic and often scoffed.

IF these issues are not addressed there is a possibility of this emotion being hijacked by a some other militant irrational neo Hindu force.

This might come true if the faultiness is just shoved under the carpet. In order to address these Faultline’s one must restore the idea of the Indian citizen being a “cultural Hindu” akin to the concept of a cultural Muslim as the identity perceived for the Turkish citizens or the way  Indonesian or Malaysian citizens take pride in their rich Hindu heritage To further promote amity among the Hindu and Muslims, the Muslims leaders need to promote the appropriation of the Hindu symbols and tradition as part of the shared culture as heritage, this should not be seen as succumbing their faith or some sort surrender of tenants of Islam. For instance it can be scene that Hindus by in large are not averse to respecting even revering the icons of Sufi Islam like Amir Khusro, Hazrat Nizammudin etc.

India has arguably entered the golden age of cultural, economic and psychological a prosperity. It is essential to see Narendra Modi as the opportunity to mend the ties and repair the faultiness between the communities or else the next 25 years without reconciliation could lead to further feeling of  indignation among the Hindu populace and there is no guarantee that the ikon they spring to life this time will be as humble ,wise and democratic as Narendra Modi.

Memory War: Russia and Ukraine

0

“History is too often our present-day politics projected onto the past.”

From Quora, a popular website

There is no way to know Russian President Vladimir Putin’s mind. But the bombing of a maternity hospital in the city of Mariupol, be it a strategic blunder or hyperbolized media narrative, has outraged almost every well-meaning individual. But, of course, here, one must not lose sight of old Greek wisdom that “in every war, the first casualty is the truth.”

The media worldwide is presenting this war (call it aggression or special military operation) in all sorts of manners, from pure pedestrian stuff to the profound geopolitical narrative. However, the extended duration and the kind of resistance being faced by Russians (if true) prompts me to add another dimension, “War of Memories”, about disputed heritage and contested victimhood.

If one carefully observes Putin’s politics since his first appointment as the Russian president, one senses a strong current of memory politics, a deep sense of loss of empire, and his motherland’s global power status. I wonder, Putin having grown up in the seventies, no longer appreciates the Bolshevik ideals. He idolizes more leaders like Brezhnev, whose state objectives were no longer Leninist “Increasing fusion of nationality into a New Soviet Man” but of Czarist Russia with consolidation and centralization of the Soviet State power burying once for all the issue of autonomy of minorities. (24th Communist Party Congress)

Consequently, Putin considers the Bolsheviks’ treatment of Ukraine as separate from Russian and their generous bartering of Russian land to appease non-Russian (mainly Ukrainian) minorities as a historical blunder.

In today’s realpolitik, what needs to be seriously debated is this denial of Ukraine and separate Ukrainian identity irrespective of how closely the two have been interwoven through centuries.

For some, this is the manifest version of Neo-Con foreign policy of Democratization and force-fitting Nations into the New Economic Order. When the peaceful Euromaidan demonstrations refused to subside Government used high handed and cruel police tactics. Then suddenly, a large posse of well-built and well-armed dressed in black fascist groups descended and turned an event into a violent clash with armed police, and the state machinery collapsed. Readers may recall a similar sequence of events in the agitations in Kazakhstan, which was reigned in promptly, and an alleged regime change exercise failed.

The point here is the denazification objective of President Putin is not a figment of imagination, but a few other statements are. And that is adding a dimension of a Memory War, making the anticipated resistance harsher than expected.

On July 12, 2021, Putin published an Essay “On the Historical Unity of Russians and Ukrainians”. More than a historical essay, his position paper contended that Independent Ukraine is a brainchild of Soviet-era and, to a large extent, created at the expense of Russian land. A more significant part was “true Ukrainian Sovereignty is possible only in partnership with the Russian state.”

It will be unwise to go into the causality of events in centuries-old relationships. Modern nations of Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine claim “Kievan Rus,” the ninth-century kingdom of Ukraine’s predecessors, as their cultural ancestors.

The project of Ukrainian nationalism started in the late nineteenth century and picked up the pace at the end of the first World War along with other Slavic communities under the Ottoman and Austro Hungarian empires calling for nationalism. Having started as a Pan Slavic movement, it soon transformed into an ethno-Slavic project. Then under Russian nationalism, the third project developed the project of Ukraine as the ‘Little Russian’ identity both originating from the Middle Ages Kievan Rus’ and sharing common religion (Orthodox Christian) and language (Old Church Slavonic). (1)

However, through aggressions, the area of Ukraine was constantly being divided and changed hands in the meantime. , The Galician Ukrainians under the Austrian empire experienced “the emergence of modern democratic culture”. Despite Ethnic differences, there was limited accountability and semblance of the rule of law. So a Slavic complainant with a ragtag appearance got a hearing, and justice where due. There was a free job market for the craftsman. Working abroad was possible, and many Ukrainians could travel westwards and work in the Industrializing west. It is interesting to note that the inward remittances in Galician Ukraine were USD 9 Billion at their peak.

Even in the Second World War memories, a comparison of occupation in Ukrainian memory under German and Russian power far outweighed against the Russians. Experiences of Soviet Authorities while withdrawing not acting as a native Government but a conqueror who employs scorch earth policy so that the invading party finds area entirely unfit for habitation left deep antagonistic feeling.

The two years of German occupation were devoid of paranoia of being watched, being drafted into the army against their wishes and no looting while retreating.

Vladimir Lenin once said, “There are decades where nothing happens, and there are weeks where decades happen”.

The Ukrainian Nationalist movements cleverly helped coalescence of these individual memories for strengthening a strong Ukrainian identity. Discrimination by Moscow’s elite and attempts at russification further augmented the “Otherness” of Russians and Russia. Memory adapts itself with time. Older and more general memories shed their specifics and get simplified and fuse into the prevailing broader narrative.

Ukrainian Elite used memories cleverly to make the newly formed nation a ploy in the Neo-Conservative game plan of Global Dominance. And the more painful historical irony has been to appropriate without appreciation the sizeable benefit in terms of Social and Industrial development during its 70 years as part of Socialist experiment. Just the two glaring examples are the energy infrastructure of Fifteen Nuclear Reactors that helps country export energy and many quality Educational Institutes where Thousands of international students study.

Such memory politics may proliferate in the present Uni Polar World. A close look at the 35 absentee countries during the UN General Assembly may give clues for future hot spots.

You’re a bully, Mr. Putin

0

On March 1, just as the world was debating whether it was time to say “Goodbye” to two years of the horrible pandemic that took millions of innocent lives, we have run into another “situation” that is as deadly and dangerous as the previous one from which we have not even fully emerged yet. While both situations are man-made–the outbreak of the virus might not have been intentional. It was, in all probability, an accident that happened due to human error, negligence, or carelessness.

The second situation, on the other hand, is totally different–it reflects the desire of a dictator to bask in the glories of an era gone by, or to restore the classical European balance of power that governed relations amongst the European countries in the age of American isolationism, or simply to put into operation the venerable “Monroe Doctrine” in reverse.

No matter what the reason might have been, the unfolding human catastrophe in Ukraine is an unforgivable crime against humanity and a crime against the people of Ukraine whose only sin was to decide to align themselves with hopes for the future, rather than live under the shadow and ‘protection’ of a bully bear. Isn’t this the aspiration of most human beings? To be free and to be able to decide on our own futures?

A few minutes ago I saw a news item on BBC News that the cherry blossoms have arrived (in London). I also know that the Sakura is ‘scheduled’ to arrive on Tuesday, 29 March in Tokyo. While this news may not be enough to mitigate the misery and gloom around us, I think it might bring hope to millions of people who have only been seeing their hopes dashed, and their jobs and homes taken away by the forces of evil. The Ukrainians may have been racist, as some people have tried to imply, but they did not barge into another man’s home or country, they certainly did not occupy and colonize a neighbor’s territory, and they did not kill thousands of people in the process of achieving their horrific and satanic dreams. What they have done instead is to build institutions of higher learning and education, especially medicine, where our young hopefuls go to receive an education that would empower them to serve humanity. I know there are tens of thousands of young people from Africa, Asia, and Latin America, who go to Ukraine to become a doctor. Many receive scholarships.

By sending Russian forces inside Ukraine, Putin has shown his baser instinct and desire to subjugate an independent country and neighbor, who built bridges of goodwill, international friendship, and cooperation. Every time a self-conceited dictator does this kind of thing, he drags the progress made by the international community by more than 200 years.
