On March 29, 2023, the Lok Sabha adopted the Competition (Amendment) Bill 2023, marking a significant advancement.

It is singularly unfortunate that our criminal justice system is not just  ‘creaking but plain simple broke’ as jurist Harish Salve said, and needs not band aid fixes, but desperate  surgical remedies.

Capital punishment is an ancient sanction. There is practically no country in the World where the death penalty has never existed.

The judiciary is the bedrock of Indian democracy and a beacon of hope for people in times of darkness. But we have deteriorated that system, partly because of the colonial legacy, and partly because of our ambitions.

Judges and their families lives are more precious while our lives are meant for sacrifice. Must be somewhere in your constitution.

महोदय, कृपया हमें यह भी शिक्षित करें कि संविधान के किस भाग में कहा गया है कि अपराधियों और आतंकवादियों को पीड़ितों और नागरिकों की तुलना में अधिक अधिकार प्राप्त हैं।

The system is creaking. No doubt. Senior Advocate Harish Salve goes brutal to say it is ‘broken’. And it needs fixing. The issues flagged off by the Justices and the Union Law Minister are intermingled. It deserves structural changes.
