भारत में लगातार मुस्लिम, वामपंथी, कांग्रेस, ईसाई चर्च के द्वारा के द्वारा ये कोशिश की जा रही है की मंदिर पे कब्ज़ा करके उस जमीन को हथिया लिया जाये या उस मंदिर को मजार में बदल दिया जाये, जम्मू कश्मीर में 1 हज़ार से भी ज्यादा मंदिर तोड़े गए हैं और उसमे से बहुत को मुस्लिम स्थल में बदल दिया गया है।
