Drugs, violence and misogyny- What else does the Punjabi Music Industry promote apart from the “farmers’ protests”?
This post contemplates the current state of the Punjabi Music Industry, which has become infamous for promoting and glorifying drugs, violence and gun culture, and the possibility of a nexus between the Punjabi Music Industry and anti-India forces, including Khalistani-separatists and ISI, in light of the anti-India stand taken by some prominent singers.
While in the case of a farmer the reform delivered double benefit but the political class faces double whammy, that of losing its captive vote bank that was dependent on its sops and secondly losing the massive income they earned as middlemen between the farmer and the consumer. Either the farmer is misinformed or wrongly instigated, otherwise it is impossible to conceive that any farmer should be actually unhappy or opposed for being given more choices, as to whom to sell their produce.
We feel elated when we hear that Govt will double the income of farmers or when they claim that a new act passed will change lives of farmers. But the real picture remains very different. It is very difficult for us to gauge the facts on ground unless we experience it first hand.
Some of the policymakers in India are perhaps not ready to digest the reality that the changing landscape has made the old calculations increasingly difficult to practice and this is manifested by recent misinformation campaign and undignified behaviour in the parliament.
Huge uproar is being created by labeling the reforms as 'Anti Farmers'. However proper analysis of the bills shows that the obstruction of the opposition is primarily political and holds no water.
