Has Periyar caused comparative psychosis in TN than competitiveness?

0

A careful decoding of various speeches of EV Ramasamy Naicker (EVR), one can easily delayer the sense that EVR may be inadvertently or may be with a purpose has created comparative psychosis among people than empower them with confidence, feeling of pride and positive vision. EVR was constantly tutoring people as they belong to Sudra, children of Dasi etc. As it appears, due to some reason he was so obsessed with the above views and believed the same till his last breath.

Hindu tradition or Vedas and Upnishad never refer to any caste system but only classification that can be seen is based on occupation people were engaged at during ancient days. Further Vedas or Upanishad has never stated Brahmins are superior over the rest. In fact Kshatriyas were the ruling community then and therefore Kshatriyas were the most powerful community. Further most of the Hindu scriptures were written by the sages like Valmiki, Vyasa were not Brahmins by birth. So are Lord Ram and Lord Krishna.

Unfortunately EVR constantly whipped his listeners and followers by saying they belong to Sudra, children of Dasi etc., and to substantiate his obsession and hatred, he always used to abuse God, Hindu culture and Brahmins. Knowingly or unknowingly, EVR has programmed hatred, negativism, inferiority complex and aversion towards self and towards Hinduism, God and Brahmins. Through comparison and wrong understanding, EVR has destroyed the mind of people and implanted comparative psychosis instead of inculcating competitiveness.

If EVR has read the popular epic of Hinduism such as Ramayana or Mahabharat, he would have engaged in better discourse with people than what he was doing and the state would have been the best place to live than what it is today.

The message conveyed by Ramayana is self-discipline, obedience, duty, respect etc. Even when Lord Ram has to kill Vali through a veiled attack, it was duly explained. Similarly Lord Ram after destroying Ravan and other demons gave salvation to them and punishment. Throughout Ramayana, only positivism and fulfillment are shared and not hatred and negativism. Even during war, Rama did not attack Ravan in the battlefield when Ravan lost his weapons.

In Mahabharat too, only Dharma is heightened and not Adharma. Even when one reads Mahabharat, hatred towards Duryadhana or Dushasana will not emerge profoundly because the Mahabharat was written not to infuse hatred or divide people but teach about Dharma.

Sadly EVR appears to have understood the essence of Hinduism wrongly and due to his half-beaked understanding filled with ignorance, prejudice and personal reasons, in the entire state he infused hatred and inferiority complex.

Discrimination is not strictly limited to caste reasons but even the financial status of people also cause discrimination where the landlords are known to discriminate the peasant. Discrimination between intelligent and imbecile is quite common, between different communities, between different hierarchies in big corporate etc.

Instead of empowering people, people were encouraged to move away from Hindu culture, God and hate Brahmins were the prescriptions EVR followed. EVR in fact created a new caste called anti-brahmin, Anti-God, Anti-Hindu versus the rest. He cleverly hired the wisdom of Caldwell and renamed the entire Tamil race as Dravidian race and repeatedly told in public space to make it true. To distract people from knowing anything about the sacred Tamil culture, literature and tradition, he abused the language, all sacred works of Hindu culture written in Tamil language.  Perhaps EVR would have felt that people of Tamil Nadu must be separated at emotional level from rest of India and hence he would have hard-sold the lie called Dravidian identity over Tamil people and made them think and feel they are different from rest of India.

People of Tamil Nadu must ask whether they wants to continue to be the prisoners of Dravidian myth or wants to integrate with the larger truth called Hindu culture and the ethos of one India.  Unnecessary identity creation, isolation within the identity and asking for freedom and autonomy to self-govern are dangerous trends which might destroy the state in toto than pave way for any progress.

Only if Dravidian brand politics is eliminated, a New Tamil Nadu can be built and the agenda of development and sab ka vikas can be achieved. The present government is doing its best to fulfill the dreams of Amma to make the state prosperous which should not be destroyed by re-electing EVR philosophy of hatred and negativism.

Moral values, ethical, moral and logical generality are necessary for humanity to prosper, successful and happy. Today the people of the state are coming back to the Bhakti era of Tamil Nadu and hope that they would never support the dynastic politics which wants to re-sow the seeds of EVR brand of negativism, hatred, anti-God, Anti-Hindu politics again in Tamil Nadu.

Not landmark judgments need landmark changes

India is a country of billion people and has a potential to find billion solutions to its problem, but it looks like we have developed an art of inventing more problems than solutions. The recent developments after the Supreme Court verdict on Sabarimala issue is an example. The polity, activists and main stream media are doing everything possible to ensure the issues do not subside not to mention the social media which gave a platform to millions to raise their voice is just adding cacophony to the mix and as a result we managed to create unrest in god’s own country, Kerala which is otherwise peaceful. Needless to say everybody working based on their own agenda without addressing or understanding the core issue. Let’s look at this issue in details and where the common Indian got carried away with the narrative

Sabarimala is a classic example which unearthed the fault lines between the society, judiciary and executive, each holding on to fundamental rights, judicial procedures, women rights, politics vote bank, spirituality of devotees, the religious belief system etc., with mainstream and social media adding fuel to fire. To put the things in right context,

The Issue: The issue is about women, aged between 10 to 50, who are not allowed to enter into sabarimala temple and it is termed as an issue related to gender bias and patriarchy. But if this is the issue then the issue must be raised from the indigenous Hindu religious groups, we should have seen a clear divide in Hindu society locking horns involving male and female religious leaders with their army of follower groups and the battle would have been fought inside and outside court. We should have seen a mass agitation by Hindu women lead by the women activists from front. But we haven’t seen that, instead the issue was raised by Indian Young Lawyers Association headed by Mr. Naushad Ahmad Khan, the organization claims to be working for the welfare of lawyers and general public filing PILs on their behalf. The case ended up in Supreme Court and we managed to invent a solution to the problem which Hindu women who never thought so and never bothered to enter the temple respecting the age old traditions. Remember this is not a case like Mohd. Ahmed Khan v. Shah Bano Begum And Ors which had a representation of the effected person, because Hindu women never thought that they are the victims of this tradition.

Issue Redressal: It is natural for a religious matter to end up in the lap of a (group of) religious head because they are the subject matter experts of the issue, just like we approach our elders at home in matters related to traditions and customs. It would have been done if such strong body existed which has the authority and constitutional backing in these matters. It is lack of such body in Hindus community which the Supreme Court has filled in this case in its own terms within civil jurisprudence. Courts pronounce judgment based on the arguments they leave aside the applicability, acceptability, implications of implementations as these are state subjects. But matters related to culture and traditions are emotional in nature and are very strongly attached to core belief system of people which they have been carrying over generations, the change can happened only with transformation, which may takes months, years and sometimes decades. The current unrest in Kerala is a standing example of the same.

Politics: Once judgment was announced we saw a battery of feminist who suddenly took the center stage in support of the judgment as though they were fighting for the cause for quite inside and outside the courts. The response of the political parties including RSS was very balanced and slow, soon people started to respond when the intent of the communist government to implement the judgment without wasting time was made clear, we saw the uprising of the Hindu community Kerala and across India and the political parties now knew which side they need to take and why. Arguments like gender equality, women right were looking hallow from day one, but after activists like Tripty Desai, Rehana Fatima and other women tried to enter into the temple, the whole issue got further sensitized and common Hindus started to feel the artificiality of the issue as they know that a real devotee would wait just the way they have been doing it for decades. We also saw large number of women coming out in support of the age old tradition with Diyas in their hand and doing Namajapa on roads.

Adding fire to fuel, while the review petition is pending in Supreme Court, Pinarayi Vijayan government which needs to implement 17 Supreme Court judgments never bother to do so and instead was seen in hurry to implement this one and they successfully ensured three women to sneak into the temple, which now created a law and order situation in Kerala. A perfect example of “Engineering Issues for Dummies”

The judgment of the review petition is key to resolve the issue, however it is important to note how we managed to manufacture a new issue, keeping aside the core issues of economic inequality, agriculture sector distress, inadequate healthcare facilities and the lack of quality education and skill development of our youth. These are the issues which should have captured the air time in mainstream, social media. A qualitative, analytical, political and intellectual debates on these issues should have been the mainstream discourse for people as that will give us the demographic dividends which will help the country march forward.

The emotional distress and the feeling of alienation which this issue created in society is going to remain in the minds of Indian people for days to come and will stand as an example of our ability to engineer issues which will leave deep scars on the socio-political fabric of our country. It is time we as responsible citizens need to learn that social problems cannot be solved using knee-jerk judgments like this one. What we need is a coherent approach involving right stakeholders with a focused mechanism and strategy to be successful, the need of the hour is Not Landmark Judgments Need Landmark Changes.

Is DMK scared of RK Nagar ghost in Tiruvarur?

0

The postponement of by- poll in Tiruvarur assembly constituency has come as blessings in disguise for DMK. It looks like DMK does not want to face the election in Tiruvarur before parliament election. Reason for the above guess points towards the bitter truth the DMK has to bite in RK Nagar by-poll where the party has come as distant third. If DMK come as distant third in Tiruvarur, which may script the epitaph of Dravidian brand politics in Tamil Nadu and the euphoria and idol-ism spun over its leader will tumbledown which the party wants to avoid before parliament election. The above fear may be compelling DMK to indirectly support the postponement of the election.

Anti-God, Anti-Hindu, Anti Brahmin brand politics has come full circle and is fading fast. People of Tamil Nadu are coming back to God and ancient Bhakti culture of Tamil Nadu. Unknowingly negativism, hatred, destructive approaches were the emotions and feelings Dravidian politics has infused among people for decades. Some small welfare tokenism of Dravidian politics in Tamil Nadu we cannot dismiss.

Instead of eliminating caste system, the Dravidian politics sustained the caste politics and by way of eliminating caste, it has created a new caste called anti-Brahmin, anti-God and anti-Hindu.  Further the Dravidian politics played caste politics cleverly to remain in power. Today several people in the state have started to recognize the truth and are moving away from Dravidian brand politics because such politics had always revolved around nothing but negativism, hatred and anti-Hindu sentiments.

The age details of people who show great faith in God today are in the mid 50’s to 60’s. It means all of them were born and brought up in the state when the politics of hatred, anti-Brahmin-ism and anti-God was in the peak. Many people would have lived through such political atmosphere and after the elapse of 5 decades, as it appears, most of them have realized the truth that Dravidian politics has done nothing but infused hatred, negativism and divided the society on illusory Aryan-Dravidian race and finally established own dynasty and monarchy to be in power.

The allegation was that in R K Nagar by-poll, DMK lost due to money being paid to people by the opposition candidates. Through such allegation DMK admits loudly that even own cadres are purchasable and are no more loyal to the party.  Further elaboration would reveal that people are shifting their allegiance from Dravidian brand politics to politics of positivism, spiritualism, corruption free governance, free from dynastic, cult of personality politics, nepotism etc., and people of Tamil Nadu have started to realize that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi alone can offer a very stable, corruption free, development centric, sab ka vikas oriented governance in India.

Tiruvarur election if held along with other assembly constituencies, DMK can save its face even if it loses Tiruvarur. It may win some other constituency and with such victory it can divert people from discussing about Tiruvarur defeat. It looks like DMK is scared of RK Nagar nightmare and does not want to face similar situation in Tiruvarur before parliament election. It means until parliament election, the party want to build image of hope and illusion and never want to experiment electoral politics to face another catastrophe like RN Nagar. People of Tamil Nadu are clear as it appears that they are waiting for the day to bid farewell to Dravidian politics and welcome development centric, sab ka vikas oriented, corruption free government of BJP led by Narendra Modi. Certainly the departed souls of MGR and Amma will guide people to save the state from dynastic politics and politics of negativism and hatred.

CBI Chief deserves not just the exit door…..

0

Decision of the select committee chaired by Honourable Prime Minister of India and Honourable Justice of Supreme Court and the other member being a political leader of congress party to remove CBI chief in a 2:1 vote is the much needed step to regain the respect and reputation of the top most investigating agency in India – CBI.

The political party of the dynast wants to pollute and contaminate every government agency in India by injecting the poison of politics and vested interest has finally failed miserably. The Honourable Chief Justice of India recused himself from the panel citing his role in the judgment reinstating the CBI chief with his wings clipped. The political leader of the dynast who represented the select committee was a petitioner in the case in favour of CBI chief and therefore considering probity in public life, he should have recused from the panel. But the political party of the dynast has never shown any such decency or discipline in Indian politics.

The question is not about the allegations against the CBI chief whether are true and are proven in the court of law or not. No person of his stature and authority should reduce the reputation of CBI so badly like Alok Verma. Being the chief of CBI had to face allegations and charges of corruption and subsequently investigation all from his colleagues has brought down the dignity of the highest office and he has created an unprecedented situation where the visionary leader like Narendra Modi and the Honourable justice of Supreme Court had no option but to show him the door.

Every Indian is proud of such decision of the select committee to sack the CBI chief. The entire episode was created by none other than the CBI chief but the tukede tukede gangs tried to politicize the incident to take some political dividend but they failed miserably. The point of debate should not be about the allegations and counter allegations but is about how the CBI chief has soured the situation, brought his fight with colleague to the level of street fight and disgraced the respect and dignity of CBI. It is not just removing the Chief but much harsher punishment must have been granted to the CBI chief for damaging the reputation of CBI.

Indians should note the cheap, the most disgusting, dirty politics being played by different political parties along with the party of the dynast and Indians should isolate all such Tukde Tukde gangs as they know nothing but politics and not development or eliminating corruption from India.   Some harsh surgery may be required to clean certain agencies which PM Modi is bold to do but the opposition parties does not want such surgery because inefficiency and indifference are needed for the opposition parties to play politics. They are yet to realize the truth that they are destroying India and not building our nation.

PM Narendra Modi alone can offer corruption free government, government free of nepotism and indifference, guaranteed commitment and accountability from public servants.  People of India should think of India first and not the dynast and must save the future of India for the posterity by re-electing Narendra Modi led BJP again in 2019 with massive majority so that India is further developed and sab ka vikas is achieved.

BJP led NDA’S last leg bonanza in the Parliament-EBC Quota

0

In a running race, the people in the outer ring, are given more time to complete the circle as it is bigger than the inner circle (since the people in the inner circle have an advantage to finish in a short span as the circle is smaller for them). Similarly, reservations are meant to uplift the far removed people of the society, be it because of historicity or by their economic conditions. The Constitution of India, took it into consideration, only that are persecuted historically through ages due to untouchability or other such socially mala fide practices. But had not looked at the criteria of economically backward that are lagging behind at that point of time. There is certainly social discrimination and humiliation that the economically backward have been suffering in the society (be it of any caste or community they belong). That in itself needs affirmative action.

The reservation of 10% quota for the economically backward sections (EBS of OC category) of India has passed peacefully (in the Parliament) as 124th Amendment to the Constitution of India with minor hiccups like heated debate and hullabaloo of opposition parties regarding timing and lacunae in the draft in both Houses of Parliament. They said, as is their won’t, “Why now, why not earlier in past four years”. Timings are always questioned in Indian democracy as every party chooses its own timing to carry out its pet projects. Appropriateness of timing a Bill is the ruling parties prerogative.

From among people of SC, ST, BC and their student wings, there was no objection as their quota is untouched. The minority communities, specially the Muslims and Christians have no word to say against it (the Amendment) as the poorer sections among those communities are also the beneficiaries of EBC quota-cake. The higher income groups among OCs also have their desires of wanting their children to get in prestigious government institutions for education and jobs. However, they being considered privileged have no voice.

The main argument raised by the elite, liberal groupings on this move by the central government was, even earlier, during the Congress prime minister PV Narasimha Rao rule similar kind of economically backward upper caste quota bill was passed but it was struck down by the Apex Court ( referring to Indira Sawhney case 11 judge Constitutional Bench in 1993). 25 years elapsed from then on. Much water has flowed through the societal fabric. May be, even in the present circumstances, if this Constitutional Amendment is challenged in the Supreme Court, the court might have to think twice before judging the Amendment vis-a-vis the times by not going merely to what the earlier bench had delivered.

Most of the liberal journalists/opposition parties who are saying now, that the economically backward classes quota – a ‘jumla’ – would not be expected to raise voice or call the act ‘jumla’, would it be done after 2019 elections by KCR-Mamata combine (if they were to form an unholy alliance) in the case of Muslims alone 12% exclusive quota throughout India. The liberal elite would justify then, the act by quoting the much clichéd/ often-repeated Sachar Committee Report. Since the present government has added upper castes, they are making a big huge and cry.

There are two important advantages of this economically backwards reservation Amendment to the future of India. One, if no one challenges it in the court, it will pass on the benefit to the intended poor and needy. Otherwise the second option that decides on the whole gamut of reservations in the country. That is, two- in case, if it goes for legal scrutiny under the Constitution, it would be stayed for a while and argued by a larger bench in the apex court, as it being an Amendment passed by the elected representatives unopposed. If the court in its final verdict, as an outcome, puts the cap of not exceeding 50% reservations as it did earlier and pronounces that that the Amendment goes against the spirit of the Constitution there would be no further argument or no further promises by any politician in future. Either way the larger issue of reservations gets a clarity (though the second option at this point of time is hypothetical).

The sudden surprising decision of the government on economically backward classes reservation paves the way for more churning in the political and judicial circles. It is already opening up a Pandora box of reservations within reservations and quotas within quotas in all federal state governments in the country. As of now, the Centre is relieved. The political satraps of states now jostle with their quota politics for some time to come.

Will the supreme court be able to rescue India from its politicians?

On 9th and 8th January, 2019, during the debate in parliament on the 124th constitutional amendment to provide reservation to the economically weaker section (EWS) of the general category, a leader against the amendment bill made a very scathing remake “This parliament does not have the legislative competence to pass this amendment bill”.

I would like to extend it a bit further, “some leaders in this parliament don’t have the intelligence to even discuss this bill forget about passing it”. There were so many leaders who don’t even understand R of Reservation. It is really shocking to see so many of them being completely ignorant of a 10th class civics topic.

RJD’s leader can be spared for not knowing about basics of reservation, for this poor son of Laluji didn’t pass his school education. But what about that professor from his party, the leader from SP and more shockingly the leaders of Aam Aadmi Party, which call itself a party of educated leaders and workers.

“10% reservation given to 95% population with Rs 8 lakh income, 40% reservation under general category given to 5% Savarnas above Rs 8 lakh income” this is statement of AAPs Rajya Sabha MP, Sanjay Singh.

Another former AAP leader Ashutosh tweeted this:

These are our leaders. They don’t understand difference between a reserved seat and unreserved seat. They don’t even know that the remaining 40% is unreserved and left out for merit based open competition.

Then there were also some demands of implementing 100% caste based reservation. The professor from RJD with his limited understanding was asking for reservation in proportion to population of community with no seats/opportunity to be left for open merit based competition and also making demands for implementation of caste based reservation in private sector too. These idiotic ideas emerge from their meager understanding of reservation, economics and how society and job markets function at large. Most of the leaders lack logical reasoning and deduction skills. How can the leaders then be trusted with such constitutional amendment which could determine the fate of the nation for next 2-3 decades.

Now, let’s talk about its politics. In the beginning of 2018, Supreme Court made a small change in SCST atrocity act regarding immediate arrest of accused without any investigation or proof, citing high rate of misuse of it and also it being against the ideals of natural justice. Congress led opposition took advantage of this and started spreading misinformation among SCSTs that Modi government has removed or diluted SCST act, creating a furor against BJP. When BJP gauged the possible political damage due to such a big vote share, they went against supreme court and overturned its decision through parliament with all parties on-board.

One patch was barely mended, another one rose immediately, like it always happens with appeasement and favoritism of one group at the expense of the other. Large groups of general and OBC category (who are supposedly the victims of SCST act) came in open rebellion in poll bound MP, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh against this move of the government. But BJP was sure that the general category being their traditional voters are not going to go anywhere and thus went into election without listening to or appeasing them in any way.

But the election result came to them as a shock especially in Madhya Pradesh, where even after 15 years of anti-incumbency, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, who was certain of a massive victory, lost narrowly. Even though BJP got more votes than congress it still lost the election by mere 5 seats difference. Similarly in Rajasthan BJP got only 0.5% votes less than congress, but still lost many seats.

After introspection BJP came to conclusion that they can no longer take general category for granted who are more than willing to press NOTA or even go with congress. With these assembly elections results, one thing became clear that these voters must be taken care of or in other words appeased.

So now BJP had few options to do that. One option was to bring an ordinance to build Ram temple in Ayodhya, but Modi said no to that for time being! (maybe didn’t want to go over Supreme Court once more). Next option was to plunder the RBI reserves to lure the voters like congress did by distributing money as farm loan waivers and universal basic income but this was not so great for the economy, that too knowing that congress already did it and would take away the credit for any such move by central government.

So, finally the government came up with this third ingenious idea of 10% caste agnostic reservation to EWS (economically weaker sections). To me this is a purely political ploy to fool the general category voters. One of the few other criterion for being economically weak is having an income up to less than 8 lakh per year, based on which more than 90% of population falls under EWS and can avail this 10% quota. Therefore this quota will be highly competitive and the cut-off marks for any jobs or admission to educational institutions will practically be at par with the open category cut-off. This basically means it will be business as usual for the newly created EWS category to fight the tough merit based competition of open category. Therefore, this quota, in no way, can help the poor it is meant for.

If the government really wants to help the poor in general category, rather than giving reservation it should consider providing full tuition fee waivers in schools and colleges, fee waivers for application forms and other scholarships. If government sincerely wanted to help poor, it would have gone for monetary assistance rather than reservation.

But it seems they only wanted to create a vote bank by giving the highly successful lollipop to fool poor voter of all castes i.e. reservation. Same goes for the opposition which in spite of all their ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ had to support the amendment bill to appease or not to displease the general category voters.

The problem with this 10% EWS quota, other than it being of no use to EWS, is that for giving this quota the government has breached a supreme court mandated 50% cap on reservation meant to keep at least half of the seats for open merit based competition, so that the quality of intake for jobs and educational institutes is maintained and at the same time social representation is also maintained to make amends to historical injustice due to caste system. Now with additional 10% quota for EWS, the share for open merit based competition has further shrunken to 40%.

In addition, a pandora’s box has been opened. And India has no dearth of caste based leaders both old and new to fetch this opportunity to their advantage by fooling voters. While the Mulayams, Lalus & so many others made their careers and dynasties out of caste based politics during 1990s, it would not be surprising at all if the new caste based leaders like Hardik Patel, Jignesh Mevani builds a career and later on dynasties out of the mess this 10% EWS reservation is going to create over the next 2-3 decades.

If such caste based politics is further propagated, then these stupid demands and ideas like 100% reservation and caste based reservation in private sector, may very soon become a reality. Maybe by the next cricket World Cup BCCI might have to give caste based reservation in Indian cricket team as well.

The future seams real bleak as parliament fails to rise above petty politics of appeasement/ not risking displeasing a community for the sake of vote bank politics. Today, India needs statesmen like Pt.Nehru, Baba Saheb Ambedkar and likes of many others in the constituent assembly. Individuals who could rise above caste, religion, region, gender and work for a better India. Can’t say if we going to get such leaders anytime soon, seeing how new hope of anti corruption revolution, Arvind Kejriwal turned out (worse than conventional politicians when it comes to ideology).

Will the guardian angel of Indian democracy, the honorable supreme court, rise to this occasion and save India and it’s people from these politicians and kill this quota appeasement politics in its bud? Only time will…..

Two day magic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for POOR

0

Narendra Modi has achieved the greatest victory ever for the people of India and the landmark achievement made by the PM Modi to people of India can be compared next to the independence that was achieved by our freedom fighters like Gandhi, Patel etc. In every country the welfare supports are always given to the most deserving category of people and the deserving category can be ascertained only on the basis of the economic status.

Caste based reservation must be removed once the status of people of backward category is uplifted educationally and or economically which is not happening because the existing reservation is based on caste line. The Tukde Tukde dynastic political parties have reduced the definition of backward class as backward caste for vote bank politics. As a result the status of people of backward class has not improved significantly however those who play politics over backward class continue to benefit politically and economically.

Narendra Modi is the first Prime Minister of independent India to have recognised the real, honest and true need of poor people and brought a land mark reform measure ensuring 10% reservation to economically backward forward class. The dynastic politicians were so heartless towards certain class of poor people purely due to their forward caste identity. Should we identify and isolate people based on caste or support everyone based on their economic status was the question PM Modi has asked and answered just in two days.

The bill was passed both in Parliament and Rajya Sabha in just two days where most of the opposition parties had no option but support PM Modi.

The economic status based reservation alone can end caste politics in India. Today several creamy layer of people in backward category enjoy the benefit of reservation and are denying opportunity to the most deserved people in own category. If the economic criteria are taken as yardstick, the reservation benefit need not continue same set of people once the economic status of the beneficiary is improved and the reservation can then shift to the next level and thereby every poor person in our country can be uplifted.

The extraordinary wisdom, exemplary statesmanship and total commitment towards poor no prime minister of India in the past has shown like Narendra Modi.

People of India should not narrow down the understanding of the scope of the bill which is meant for forward caste but in real sense the bill is caste neutral.  Similar to the need of backward category for reservation, the economically weaker section in forward category also need sufficient opportunity as they are aspirational, give importance to education and wants to participate in building the mission of New India but are denied of the opportunity purely due to the fact that they belong to forward category.

Prime Minister Modi has sensed the need to achieve sab ka vikas and the sab ka vikas can be achieved only if we eliminate caste system from our society, unite India under one culture, and bring one election format and one tax. The bill will ensure reservation based on economic criteria this is the first step towards the big goal – sab ka vikas.

India needs the decisive leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and not noise pollution creating immature, unwise dynast. The dynastic party knows only to develop own family and sycophants and not the nation or people.

People of India must kindle their statesmanship and must think of India first than politics. PM Modi has re-created our glorious identity and pride of New India, brought the agenda of development and vision of sab ka vikas, ensured governance free of corruption, took several pro-poor initiatives and finally did substantially towards making India a fair country give importance to economic considerations and not to divide the country based on caste line.  India is very close to great success which Indians should not destroy by electing tukede tukede gangs and dynastic forces.

Should reservation continue even after 7 decades?

Ancient Indian society had varna system based on work rather than birth. They complemented each other and lived together harmoniously. It got distorted by various external looters/attackers in our country who divided us based on caste, religion etc. It resulted into some bitter behaviour like discrimination and untouchability in our society against few castes for centuries. It is a black spot on our great ancient society. These brothers are really respectable that despite all those evil things and bitter experiences in society they didn’t abandon their religion. The Pain of these brothers is real, deep and genuine. I could realise a fraction of that while talking to mother of my childhood friend. It was really thought provoking point, can their unemployed youth open a tea shop in village?

Indian constitution makers were born during British rule and almost all were part of freedom struggle. They incorporated best features of various constitutions and wanted to take care of all sections of society. They introduced reservations for backward castes. They dreamt to make India a country where people from all religions, faith, caste, language and region can flourish and contribute to growth of country.

A sick family member is given better care, special food and more attention than others. Based on this family concept constitution writers had provisioned 10 years reservations for them. Their intention was good, (hopefully) not politically motivated so didn’t imagine of future problems.

What new challenges have come up?

The original concept of reservation was for those castes which were really socially backward for centuries and were not part of mainstream society. Our politicians created another reservation in the name of Other Backward Castes (OBC) just for political gain and divided society. This new OBC quota has triggered a new series of violent agitations and divide like Gurjar reservation agitation in Rajasthan, patels agitation in Gujrat, Jats agitation in Haryana, maratha agitation in Maharashtra.

These agitations have destroyed crores of rupees of public property, taken many lives, created atmosphere of hatred in society. Public property worth more than Rs 20,000 crore, 30 lives plus private property, business loss, Govt compensation, image loss to country were destroyed during few days of Jat agitation. This money could have got employment (loan of Rs 10 lacs to each unemployed youth) for 200,000 youths, feeding more than 10 lacs people. Would it not have been better for society? Who can compensate loss of loved ones to those families?

Our politicians divide people and play nice caste politics on reservation. We don’t vote honest, committed, qualified, right candidate but corrupt, criminal, ineligible, not doing any good for constituency even for own caste. This is killing sound principle and spirit of democracy. We have seen all this for last 70 years and it didn’t work. Can we change this and vote only right candidate above caste, religion, region etc factors?

  • Reservation has created more caste based hatred in young minds from childhood and every day we fight on the name of caste. There are caste based groups in school, colleges, universities, work places which don’t go along each other, disturb social harmony.
  • Politicians have started politics of giving reservation on religion, income, rural/urban basis. It is working to further divide society, create hatred what Britishers had done for years.
  • Now around 90% reservation benefit is taken by those families who have already taken benefit of reservation. Only fraction are first time beneficiaries. Now well to do people of same caste are taking benefit and not letting reach to those who are still deprived. If reservation has not enabled them to stand on own feet then forces us to think purpose of reservation itself.
  • Our constitution writers planned it for 10 years and had provision to review and extend it. It has become nice political tool and all political parties come together on this issue (though they don’t come together even on issue of national interest) and silently extend it. There has been not a single objective review and correction to this. There are various castes which are now more well off by many criteria (say if number of IAS, IPS ratio according to population is considered one criteria) than even general category castes.
  • It is killing merit, stopping right talent to go at right place. Best talent is migrating from country and serving developed countries.
  • Reservation in promotion is questioned by many and considered highly de-motivating to our work force. A person got reservation in admission to educational intuition, got reservation in getting highly competitive job. Why is reservation required now? Why don’t we have faith in capabilities of these and set a competitive work environment.
  • Like Chak de India everywhere we see person from caste x, y, z but none Indian. We are not fighting together against our problems of food, clothes, houses, drought, drinking water, corruption, unemployment, electricity, water, health service but fighting with each other. Is it better to have country with reservation and problems or country with basic needs available to all even without reservation?
  • Has caste based reservation resolved (at least for the castes getting reservation) all problems? Our problems will be better solved when we all work together for nation. Like water problem in drought hit district of Maharashtra is hitting everyone irrespective of caste. Can this problem be solved by reservation (then reserved castes should not be facing this) or fighting in the name of caste? It can be handled if all responsible politicians, bureaucrat, NGOs, scientists, Govt, research institutes and people work together to handle this problem. Then it will be solved for all castes/religions living there. Same is applicable for so many other problems of country.

What is solution?

Give opportunity to live with dignity to all people as per basic spirit of constitution. Take strict action against anybody insulting, suppressing or harming dignity of our brothers of any caste. How powerful the person may be! Provide below help to our brothers from lower castes (who faced untouchability) and tribals who really need some hand-holding.

o   Govt, NGOs and society must work together to ensure their 100% kids reach school. Because education, not reservation will uplift all of them permanently.

o   Support students financially (through current scholarship scheme or something more) so that they don’t drop out because parents can’t afford education cost or want children to earn.

o   Establish counselling and preparation centres (may be at lower cost) in colleges, universities where these students can prepare for competitive exams and can compete with others. Let there be same bar for everyone and help needy to compete with others.

o   Provide job oriented courses, easy loan to start own business for these youths.

o   Well to do people including politicians, rich, higher positioned (who had availed reservation benefit) who care for their caste so much right now must come forward to help others on above listed lines.

Let’s come up with innovative ideas to over come caste boundaries and people from all castes living together harmoniously some of them are like:

o   Nowadays youth is going out of caste line in search of life partner especially in big cities. Gradually it is increasing and will help to break strong caste lines.

o   Indian mindset is to know other person caste, position and make prejudice, behave accordingly. Can people be encouraged to write father name, village name etc as surname like people in many parts of country already doing as great tradition (showing respect to father and village) rather than caste name. Like nobel prize winner writes his name as Kailash Satyarthi.

o   Lets discourage culture of people asking castes during interaction. Like in RSS people are addressed with first name and caste is not discussed at all.

o   Caste must not be deciding factor for a voter but other real qualities anticipated out of people representative.

Economists say bringing international automobile players and creating best competitive environment will help country, industry rather than stopping foreign competition. Why is this principle not applicable in this case? Remove reservation, support these youth, set right competitive environment and they will definitely compete with others. Many students are already competing in general merit. Why don’t we believe their capabilities and tell them you can do better even without reservation.

Reservation should be given to a child who is first time user (whether used in Govt service, election or opportunities like petrol pump) in his generation. It MUST be implemented right away. Those who are well placed by using reservation are taking up share of those still deprived. Many good people from these categories accept this fact and have proactively started this appreciable step. All other political reservations like OBC must be stopped right away.

Set deadline (say not to renew on coming expiry) to eradicate reservation without any provision to extend or bring in any form back in future. Make sure our politicians never talk again about reservation.

African community in USA faced similar situation but their leaders didn’t go for reservation. Obama became first African origin president in USA in around more than 250 years of independence. All Americans worked together to fight their problems and it became a developed nation today, reservation might not have taken country here. While Dr Bheem Rao Ambedkar became part of constitution making body and first law minister without reservation but based on merit in this country. Valmiki ji, Ravidas ji, Kabir ji are all well respected saints of this great country irrespective of their castes.

Let us all work together under tricolour to live together and fight together with problems country is facing. It will help to provide basic needs like food, shelter, clothes, education, fresh drinking water, health services, work for hands and take country to world leader position.
