Major defence deals despite Elections

0

As per the previous history, the government in general shy away from taking major decisions in the election season to focus more on election campaign, especially in the defence sector. But this has changed with the current PM Modi led government and despite Lok Sabha elections, much needed deals have been closed in the defence sector recently, viz.:

Talwar Class Frigates: 4 months before elections, on Nov 20, 2018, India acquired 2 Talwar class frigates from Russia at $950mn for the Indian Navy, which will be fitted with Brahmos Missile system.

Replacement for INSAS rifles: India’s infantry battling with decades old INSAS rifle as primary weapon got a boost by:

1. Sig Sauer 716 rifle: 72.4k rifles were purchased via Fast Track Procurement at Rs.700cr. (~66k    rifles for Army, 2k for Navy & 4k for IAF).

2. AK 203 rifle: AK 203, the most advanced version of AK 47 will be produced at OFB Korwa, Amethi in a JV between Kalshnikovs and OFB, inked on March 2019. More significantly, 100% indigenisation will be achieved in 32 months.

MH-60 R choppers: One of the best choppers for Anti-Submarine Warfare and SAR operation, 24 MH 60-R were procured from US at $2.4Bn on Apr’19. It will replace the ageing fleet of Westland Seaking choppers, inducted in 80s.

Athos 2052: Israel firm Elbit and Bharat Forge JV emerged as a L1 bidder over Trajan howitzers of Nexter, France this April. It is cheaper than even locally produced Dhanush howitzer and will complement ATAGs howitzer of the same category.

Spike Anti-Tank Missile: An emergency purchase of 240 Spike guided anti tank missiles and 12 launchers have been procured as the indigenous man portable NAG and DRDO MPATGM missiles are under development.

Mi 17v5 Repair & overhaul unit: Mi17v5 chopper, the backbone of Transport and Utility operations in the armed forces, finally got a repair and overhaul unit in Chandigarh this April leading to its enhanced maintenance and service.

Has Amethi fallen?

Each and Every psephologist of this election looks very perplexed to find out whether Amethi has fallen from the hands of Nehru dynasty. The anxiety of the lutyens media has increased to certain extent that they even  stopped talking about Amethi in their columns, articles and shows.

The way wind is blowing in an election can be gauged by the subtle signals given out by the leaders of each party. So let us try to understand what has really happened on the ground.

  1. Southern March of Nehru Family:

Prior to 2019, Nehru family has marched southwards for only couple of times. First one was in the year 1980 when Indira Gandhi contested from Medak in Andhra and other one was when Sonia Gandhi contested in 1999 from Bellary, Karnataka. Nehru family has peculiar behavior or pattern to fight in South to resurrect themselves politically whenever they are in real trouble. Both the previous elections one in 1980 and other in 1999 was real tough elections for Nehru family. They were unsure of the way wind was blowing in the country. During tough times they always will look towards South. So Rahul Gandhi contesting down south in Wayanad gives us the reading that the Nehru family is very much unsure about the way wind is blowing in the country.

2. Enormous Response to the Amit Shah’s Roadshow:

The roadshow conducted by Amit Shah on May 3rd has got enormous traction on the ground. It has vertically split the Amethi electorate into Old Guard vs the New Generation. The new generation does not show the loyalty as like the old guard towards Nehru family. This can also be seen as the way Indira Gandhi, Sanjay and Rajiv Gandhi has impressed the old guards was not replicated by Rahul Gandhi towards the current generation. Across the villages this gap is widening each passing day and it seems Amethi electorate has really come of the age. Also the old guards felt bit dejected and disappointed with the way their loyalty has been put into test by Rahul Gandhi and way the option of Wayanad has been propped up with much fan fare than Amethi.

3. The growth of BJP Since 2014:

There was an insider story that during 2014 election Amit Shah was too confident and reported to then PM aspirant Modi that Rahul might be defeated in Amethi. But then Smriti Irani who contested against Rahul Gandhi also sensed the same and announced it against the wishes of then General Secretary Amit Shah during a television debate just few days before the poll which caused massive caution on the Congress side and the workers put in extra effort during last few days which changed the story completely. After that debate Amit shah has chided Smiriti Irani about her excitement and told her she lost a historic opportunity.

Leaving this story aside Smriti Irani and the Campaign Managers of BJP has put in extra efforts on the Nehru family bastion of Amethi and wiped out Congress during 2017 assembly elections and then in the rural body elections. Now there are more number of elected representatives of BJP  in the form of MLAs, Councillors, Village Council Heads or Pradhans. This really gives a good start for BJP against Congress President.

4. Gathbandhan’s last minute call vs Ram Vilas Paswan’s Last minute Campaign:

Mayawati who always speaks out against Congress and BJP harshly and keep on threatening them day in and day out made a last minute open call to Dalits and Muslims to support Rahul Gandhi. This has been viewed by many as the ground slipping from the Nehru family’s feet.

While Mayawati makes an open call, BJP workers roped in weatherman of Indian politics Mr. Ram Vilas Paswan to campaign among Pasi caste – Sub caste among Dalits to split the Dalit voters in the middle. This shows how the BJP understands the caste dynamics of Amethi and tries to formulate it strategically to defeat Rahul Gandhi.

5. Smriti Irani’s Persistence:

The way Union Minister Smriti Irani lost a historic opportunity in 2014 or sensing there is an opening in the future continued her persistence and patience efforts in reaching out to Amethi electorate. She worked on creating a bond with the people of Amethi and finally earned her name as “Didi”. She did an excellent job in converting the fight as didi vs bhaiya. RSS in their closed door meetings expressed satisfaction about the efforts taken by Smriti Irani against mighty Nehru dynasty. Even few days before the poll there was an fire accident across one of the village where Union Minister was campaigning. She immediately stopped the campaign and started working on dousing the fire. She worked as a smart street politician not like an para dropped candidate.Across the Amethi electorate she earned very good name and it might be an x factor in this election.

6. Rahul Gandhi – An absentee:

Each and every electoral politician will try to create an bond with the electorate. Most of the leaders including stalwarts like Vajpayeeji, Advaniji will spend last few days of their campaign among their constituency. Even Rahul did the same during 2014 election by being with the electorate during last few days and also during polling day. Only exception to this is PM Modi who from the days of his re-election as CM during 2002 never campaigns in his constituency except during the nomination filing. He followed it rigorously with Maninagar Assembly segment and also with Vadodara and Varanasi. But Rahul who was much with the electorate of Amethi in 2014 was completely missing from Amethi in 2019. The high point was the day of Polling during which he did not even cared to be with the Amethi constituency. This is completely different from the practice of Nehru dynasty for past few decades. Either it is due to the confidence or the sensing the imminent defeat only the results can show that.

7. Post truth on Development:

The new generation across entire world believes in action against the boring ready made speeches of Politicians. Amethi is no different. The way BJP/RSS leaders working on nurturing their own constituencies is completely different from the way Rahul Gandhi has worked in Amethi. There are lot of grievances and disappointments across Amethi electorate against the MIA(Missing in Action) MP Rahul Gandhi. They carve for better roads, better drinking water, hospital facilities, educational Institutions. Inspite of being an VVIP constituency, Amethi has not even developed to its full potential.Congress supporters are being constantly queried on this for this whole election cycle. How the democratic wave of 1977 defeated the then mighty Indira Gandhi the carving of development wave has come to the doors of Nehru dynasty once again.

8. Sullied silence of Lutyens Media:

Lutyens media usually goes gunho whenever Amethi or Rae Baerli goes for Poll. They will work on producing more literature explaining the personal bond created by Indira Gandhi, Sanjay Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. Images of these leaders would be promoted across the press and TV media to recreate the sympathy and personal relationship with the electorate. All these are missing across the board  but compare this with the promotion of Rahul Gandhi across Wayanad constituency. There is something really amiss among the Congress campaign managers for Amethi.

This time Indian electorate might witness the fall of Nehru dynasty across Amethi against an ordinary filimiwala as like defeat of Ajit Singh in Baghpat during 2014 or it might be Nehru dynasty got confidence that Amethi is a cake walk this summer and planned to spend more time across other places, only time can tell. Let’s see the verdict on May 23.

Mumbai’s Black Friday to Lanka’s Ester Sunday: The appeasement journey

People had been living and enjoying a decade of peace and suddenly one fine Sunday, they wake up to the horror of less than a dozen serial blasts. More than 250 ceased to exist, more than 500 might not live like the day before and all of their families might never overcome the trauma. Just imagine how would a person who lost his limbs or eyes or any other organ live his life?

Apart from these, everyone else including me would move on sooner than anybody thinks. This accident would be confined to a line item in the list of terror attacks along with its date, the terror organization who orchestrated it and number of people who died.

The echos of the blast also made ripples in the neighboring country; India. The way the investigation has been unrolling post the attacks, it is becoming one of the worst nightmares for the so-called self proclaimed Indian psuedo-secular intellectuals. These terrorist sympathizers are failing to see the responsible terrorists with any of their carefully curated stencils. The terrorists happened to be the sons of a wealthy spice trader, so the “poor head master’s poor son” stencil does not fit. The terrorist turned out to be western educated, so the “illiteracy/uneducated easy targets to brainwash” stencil does not fit. In a country where Buddhists (70%) are in majority and Hindu (12%), Christians (7%) and Muslims (10%) all are in minority, the “the Hindu oppressive caste system or Upper Caste exploits or minority ill-treatment” stencils can also not be used. And somehow even without a Kashmir like issue in between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, the traces of attack bring Pakistan’s ISI under the radar so “Indian Army is notorious or India’s alleged human rights violation” stencils can’t be used.

But I did not pen this article to mock these terrorist sympathizers. There are more than enough trolls on social media to do that. I want to highlight only one aspect from the way investigation of attacks have unfolded in Lanka.

On February 26, 2019, India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) had given a stark warning to Sri Lanka about the possible attacks. NIA had chargesheeted six IS recruits that day who were being investigated for months. On the same day, India had conducted Air strikes on some terrorist camps in Pakistan. Although, these were circulated as revenge strikes but India’s Ministry of External Affairs in its official statement said this: “Credible intelligence was received that JeM was attempting another suicide terror attack in various parts of the country, and the fidayeen jihadis were being trained for this purpose. In the face of imminent danger, a preemptive strike became absolutely necessary.

Yes, indeed the intel was pure gold. If the government had not authorized those air strikes then, there might have been similar or maybe even bigger attacks somewhere in India. Instead of shedding their crocodile tears for victims in Sri Lanka, these terrorist sympathizers would have been shedding them for Indians. And of course blame Modi Government for the failure. Indians should show some gratitude towards this government and the risk it took. The risk because if the strikes had not gone as expected, the results would have been detrimental for the ruling party as the elections were only a couple of months away.

The question however is:

How are India’s investigative agencies able to detect and gauge terror threats before hand now in contrast to the earlier times when India was a regular victim of terror attacks?

In these last five years barring J&K Indians literally have been living one of the most peaceful time frames. People don’t fear traveling in trains and buses or going to crowded areas at New Year etc. People used to feel this fear. Naseerudin Shah showcased this fear very aptly in his 2009 Hindi movie “A Wednesday” where a common man had to kill four terrorists and his wife used to call him every hour just to make sure that he is alive. I don’t know what his and Amir Khan’s wife are scared of now when the security forces are killing the cockroaches exactly how showcased in the movie. May be the movie was riding on the fear of common man and now that fear is going away. How will terror movies run on Box Office if people don’t related to them?

Coming back to the point. What changed in these five years? The Sri Lankan government provided Indians with an answer to this question. However, many of us won’t like the answer. The Lankan government acknowledged the fact that it was a failure on their end. And more importantly according to ET: “The Lankan government had been warned for the past couple of years to crack down against extremist elements but the political leadership feared that any such step will alienate the community.” In short the appeasement politics is responsible for these attacks.

The governments prior to 2014 were more interested in appeasing their vote banks rather than fighting terrorism. Rather than focusing on how anybody, i.e. anybody from any religion was able to orchestrate a serial blast, they were more focused on saving the face of a community and not for the benefit of the community but for the votes. Exactly like the Lankan Politicians, they feared the alienation of the community if any stringent actions were taken against the extremists.  Instead of doing the right thing, they not only let the attacks happen but also tried to show that the Hindu Terrorists also exist and the attacks were directed against Muslims too.

For example:- India suffered 12 serial blasts in Mumbai in 1993. More than 250 people died and more than 700 were injured. Honorable Mr. Sharad Pawar, the then Chief Minister affiliated to Indian National Congress, invented an imaginary thirteenth blast in a Muslim majority area. Why? Just to show that the attack was not intended towards Hindus and both Hindus and Muslims were targeted. He has accepted this as a fact. The truth was that the 12 actual blasts were in the Hindu Majority areas. The interesting thing is that no body questioned it when he announced it. Do you think it was only his doing?

The Congress that claims that institutions were free before 2014, was in reality treating them as mere puppets. Did media go and see the place where thirteenth fictitious bomb blasted? Did the Indian Investigation Agencies refute the claim? Did the Security forces refute the claim? No! Why? Because they were ordered not to do so. Like they were not authorized to take actions when they would have sensed the planning. The attacks were planned for months. The weapons (material/explosives) were imported via sea. The bombers were sent to Pakistan for training. Do you think Indian Intelligence did not see this?

If you call yourself secular then why should the course of an investigation be different based on the cast-community-religion of the perpetrator or the victim?

26/11, 2008 Mumbai attacks. The government tried to insinuate that RSS was involved in the attacks. Infact, Mr Digvijay Singh even released the book : 26/11 RSS ki Sazish. Why? just to divert the issue or to appease a community. In 2006 Malegaon blast at first youth affiliated to SIMI were arrested, but somehow they were released in 2011. He used Hemant Karkare for his political interests. They both had personal connections. They tried to put 2008 Malegaon blasts on Sadhvi Pragya and several others from Abhinav Bharat. The lady used to walk before and after a sever torture for years, her lower body is paralyzed and does not walk now.  NIA has already dropped all the charges against her.  What were the authorities doing from 2008-2014? There was no case, they were just dragging the case and making sure that Saffron Terror remains a burning issue.

Sane people know that no body could blame the entire community for the deeds of a certain few. But those certain few have to be taken care off. The problem is Indian National Congress does not stop those certain few fearing that the entire community would stop voting for them. However, when BJP is doing just what is required, they create fear amongst the community “BJP aajaegi tumko khajaegi” (BJP will win and destroy you). BJP has successfully taken care of those certain few and that is the only reason why there was minimal terror in the country in the last five years (excluding the imaginary terror created by some intellectuals). Let BJP come with a two third majority in J&K and see how the terror vanishes from the state too (two third majority is required to change the laws, J&K has its own constitution). Also read: Weeding the Lawn – (Article 35A)

This exactly is the aspect I wanted to highlight. The appeasement politics has not done any good for any body, not even for the appeased community. If it would have, Sachar Committee report would not have said what it said. If there is a community who suffered extremely because of Congress it is Muslims. And of course every other community suffered because of the appeasement.

All the issues raised by Congress in the last five years infuse fear in the community. Don’t believe me? They raised fear in the name of cows, have a look at this : Lynching Whatsapp; In the name of Holy Cow, the lynchings are related to cow smuggling and stealing, even if you are a pandit and steal a cow in a remote village, you would be lynched.  The illegal slaughter house issue? the Yogi government did what was mentioned in the court order, the court order to close them was already there but the Akhilesh government didn’t do anything. Why? Their vote bank! They raise the Kashmir issue. Who made a mess of Kashmir? Have a look at Entangled Kashmir: A web of poor and selfish decisions  and Who let the “Pigs” in?? (Insurgency in Kashmir). It was them. They let it happen, turned a blind eye. Do you think Ram Mandir is an issue created by BJP? Have a look at Ayodhya Dispute: An unresolved symbolical confrontation. BJP was not even born when the issue was created. Mandir 2.0 i.e. Sabarimala, do you think BJP created this issue? Have a look at The only reason why Rahul Gandhi chose Wayanad, Kerala.

Congress is only for their self interest: power and money. They work neither for Hindus nor for Muslims nor for the country. Congress has to either go away for good or change their senior leadership i.e. No more Gandhi!. We need a third national party before BJP gets overconfident and arrogant.

Thanks for reading!

Rattled opposition and clueless dynast – Save India, elect Modi

The entire opposition camp is rattled and frustrated. From suffering defeat in Supreme Court for their demand more VVIP’s to lodging untenable complains to EC about Narendra Modi, now most of them have decided to come together to announce a PM face. India is in great danger of suffering instability from the regional parties who are acting more as spoil sports in Indian politics to defeat the agenda of development, sab ka vikas and national security of Modi.

Congress party of the dynast and the several other regional parties (tukde tukde gangs) want to form government possibly with the support of the dynast but certainly do not want the dynast to be their leader. Congress party of the dynast, as it looks like, is ready to do anything to stop Modiji and is ready even to play the game of ‘I lose, you win’.

The dynast doesn’t mind getting defeated and or not bothered about India, but does not want Modi. The irony is that Indians also do not want such an unwise, lying dynast to lead the country.

Indians must be worried and cautious of the fact that the dynast doesn’t mind even defeating India just to stop Modi. It means for the dynast and other regional parties are bother only about power and opportunity to loot India, even if India perish, they don’t mind but Modi should not come to power. The reason is that if Modi comes back to power again he would permanently put an end to corruption, dynastic rule and such situation would naturally eliminate all such corrupt political parties from Indian politics.  Such fear of all corrupt parties is quite natural.

The paradox is that both the dynast and tukde tukde gangs does not want Modi and simultaneously the regional parties like TMC, SP, BSP, TRS, TDP, AAP does not want congress and vice versa. Imagine if all these parties are going to form a government in India means how harmful it can be to our future? Every party wants their exclusive political agenda to be accomplished and their rein of corruption to thrive than about India, what about the fate of India and millions of Indians?

Need of the hour is stability, a stable government, a decisive Prime Minister – Modi, corruption free governance, governance free of nepotism and dynasty, governance dedicated to development and sab ka vikas, national security and national dignity, wealth and welfare in equal measure…… The above mantra should drive people to elect Modi and save India.

The price people would pay for electing either the dynast or the regional divisive forces would be multi-fold. The repercussions of such wrong decision would not limit with immediate 5 years of damage but such mistake would cause near permanent destruction and disaster to India’s economy, growth, dignity, national security etc.

Only 2014 India really got independence from the dynastic forces and the rule of lawlessness, corruption, nepotism and minority appeasement. Narendra Modi led BJP when got massive mandate in 2014, it was not just the victory of BJP or Modi but in truth it was the victory of INDIA.

Modi has delivered exemplary governance, brought diverse reforms, taken several path breaking initiatives, several fetes to uplift the dignity and life style of poor and also showed to the world that India also knows how to retaliate.

If the regional parties fight for the development of the respective states, that must be supported but how can we support the regional parties when kindle regional supremacy and play divide India emotion.

Modi is working tirelessly for make in India, one India, one tax, one civil law, one cultural identity called Hinduism etc. But the regional parties are scared that if people of their state started to think of India, the political identity of such parties would suffer great defeat, therefore they oppose Modi ruthlessly, the best example is the dangerous politics of DMK in Tamil Nadu.  Amma, MGR, Kamaraj, all stood for Tamil Nadu as well as for strong India. Therefore all those believe and respect Kamaraj, MGR and Amma are supporting Modi to save the state and India.

People of Delhi must realize the truth that how disastrous and destructive is AAP. Abuse and then apologise is the political culture of AAP. Speaking lie, spread negativity, hatred and then offer unconditional apology is the political culture of the dynast of the congress.

The dynast who enjoys his freedom due to the bail granted to him by the court in corruption case is talking about corruption, scam etc., and is calling Modi, the avatar of honesty, straightforwardness and merit, chor.

IT IS LIKE THE CHOR – DYNAST IS CAMPAIGNING IN HIS OWN NAME, KEEP REMINDING THE PEOPLE ABOUT HIS IDENTITY, FAMILY HISTORY AND TRADITION OF CORRUPTION AND DISPLAYING HIS NATURAL ENMITY AGAINST CHOWKIDAR, AS THEY ARE ALWAYS AFTER THE CHOR.

Defeat lie, negativity, dynasty, nepotism, corruption, scam, minority appeasement, pseudo-secularism and elect honesty, fairness, corruption free governance, governance meant for development, sab ka vikas and national security, governance free of scam and nepotism, the party that stands for merit and not dynasty – Modi and BJP.

Save India, elect Modi should be the mantra people should chat, spread and follow.

Chowkidar Ranganathan

Nobody above the law?

0

Quite honestly, this judgment wasn’t unexpected. I am pretty sure that almost everyone was sure that CJI Ranjan Gogoi would come out clear of this controversy, regardless what the truth might be.

But what completely agitated and exasperated me was how Supreme Court, the apex court dealt with the matter.

It is time and again reiterated that nobody is above law but the process of judgment proved otherwise.

The three judge in-house committee which was probing the sexual harassment against the CJI gave clean chit to him, saying that they found “no substance” in the sexual harassment allegations leveled against him.

Something which fuels the air of suspicion regarding this entire proceeding was how there was absolutely no transparency. The committee has made it clear that the report wouldn’t be made public and even the complainant herself is deprived of her right to know what exactly led the committee to believe that there was “no substance” in her allegations.

I am not passing any judgment here that the CJI was indeed the culprit. That’s for law to decide but unfortunately, they took a murky way to prove otherwise. But, I completely resonate with the complainant when she said that the committee denying her the copy of the report is “a travesty of justice.”

The complainant had withdrew after three proceedings after accusing the committee of treating her like an outsider. She was provided with a hostile environment and was denied the copy of her own statements as well. She was even denied to have a lawyer during the proceedings.

All of these information does nothing but create an atmosphere of shadiness over the proceedings and the verdict laid out, thereafter.

A doubt constantly lingers over my head as to why the committee has refused to divulge any details which made them quash the allegations. If CJI Ranjan Gogoi is indeed innocent and there is enough evidence to support him that the in-house committee took just 14 days to shut the case hurriedly, then don’t they think that sharing the process which made them believe the verdict they laid out, would only strengthen his case in front of public and be in the better interest of the esteemed institution? If they actually have such evidence, then don’t they think that sharing the report of the committee would only stop the people pointing fingers towards the apex court of India?

Nobody is above the law? I doubt.

Curious case of TrueIndology: Twitter doesn’t grant freedom of expression

0

People who are interested in history and are on Twitter might be familiar with the handle of @TrueIndology. He’s a history passionate and kind person who likes to share the historical facts with sources for the sake of true history to be known to ignorant Indians. Recently he’s in news for getting suspended by Twitter for challenging the fake historians and their ecosystem.

First of all we common Indians don’t know about history and if we know history then it’s that whatever we are fed no matter it’s true or false. We believe that Akbar was great, Babur was a secular man, Aurangzeb used to live on the income by writing books and Indian freedom was given a particular family and by non-violence. History books for school children are filled with chapters on Mughals, Turks, Mongols, Tipu Sultan etc. who are presented to young generation as secular and kind rulers. These books hide the other side of these barbarians that how they destroyed Indian people, killed millions of innocent men, women and children on the name their religion since they were non-believers. They converted people across the country and those who resisted were killed mercilessly, temples were razed across country specially in northern part of India where temples in Kashmir, Somnath temple multiple times, Ram Temple, Kashi Vishwanath temple, Mathura Janmasthan are the major ones.

These fake historians were living the life of kings since there was no one to challenge their authority or to show them mirror. Twitter is known to be a social platform but is best known for it’s left leaning and banning right-wing accounts in India. Here one handle @TrueIndology emerged as a passionate historian who in his own words is a passionate student of Indic history. He has busted fake narrative and stories numerous times on twitter and when he demanded proofs from those fake narrative peddlers he got abuse in return.

It is in public domain that Twitter is also funded by Saudi Arabia, which is known propagator of Wahhabi Islam and for funding terrorism across globe. They can’t tolerate any dissent against them or their rulers which are known by recent Khashoggi episode. There are reports that ecosystem on social media is working to kill this voice of people who want to bring the true face of Islamists by naming it as Islamophobia. These people can’t tolerate anyone showing the true face of Islamists and what their barbarian rulers did to India, how they destroyed Indic civilization and are continuing on this. TrueIndology was unmasking all this fake narrative which were fed to Indian people all these centuries. He was showing the mirror to so-called Darabari historians with proofs and facts from known sources, this is what the ecosystem is not used to all this time. Twitter just did what is expected from a group who has to save the interest of its stakeholders by suspending the true voice.

3 Things Congress can consider doing to do control damage on INS Virat issue

0

Barely a day after PM Narendra Modi shared an India Today article (dated 1988) on Twitter it has been retweeted more than 18 thousand time and widely shared across other social media platforms. The revelation has become a matter of embarrassment for congress, which was attacking Modi for calling Rajiv Gandhi ‘Bhrashtachari no 1’. However, we have some suggestions for Congress to help them do the damage control.

  1. Prove that the India Today article is actually a Fake News – Best and quick solution would be that India Today hires some fact checkers to prove that PM Modi shared a fake story to mislead the nation. Many fact checker websites and YouTubers are available these days who can slice and dice articles/videos to prove almost anything. Reputation of India Today will be a small price to pay considering the bigger picture of saving face of Gandhi Dynasty. Once proved fake they can even demand resignation of Modi and continue the narrative that BJP spreads fake news.
  2. Signature Campaign by then INS Virat staff – Since Sam Pitroda is good at producing fake condemnation letters, let him claim that 200 navy officers who were onboard the INS Virat during this journey and their family (family part must be added to make the appeal emotional) have condemned Mr Modi for bringing a 30-year old forgotten issue back in public memory. Just write 4-5 lines on a letter and get it signed. No, we are not asking you to go and trace those officers & families. Just come up with some random imaginary names, forge their signatures and post on social media. Make sure your fact checkers play blind when Bhakts challenge them to fact check this letter.
  3. Claim that Rajiv Gandhi was taking INS Virat to do surgical strike in Pakistan – Since last week, Congress has started discovering/inventing surgical strikes that didn’t happen between 2004-2014. So no harm in going back a little further until 1987. If Congress plays its cards well, this could be an all-rounder solution. While it will establish that Gandhis cared about the nation as much as Modi does, it will also show the contrast between surgical strikes under BJP vs surgical strike under Congress. While Modi put lives of commandos and soldiers at risk, Rajiv Gandhi led from the front putting life of his family and in-laws in danger. It will nicely underline that the Gandhi dynasty has long history of sacrificing lives, and PM chair for the country.

Questions for my liberal friends—Part-I

To my very dear liberal friends,

I know you’ve been under a spell of Congress propaganda (and I know you would accuse me of likewise, putting Modi in place of Congress). But I whole-heartedly believe in you. You are liberal for a reason. You’ve been a rationalist and a skeptic all your life. You think you have a right to question everything which others may consider as already set in stone. And I concede you that right.

Let me repeat this to you once again—You are liberal for a reason. So, using all your God-given rational faculties, please feel free to use/adapt the below-mentioned questionnaire that you should be posing to your other liberal friends or Congress Party representatives. I’ve no problems if you do the same to any of the Modi Bhakts or to any spokesperson of the BJP. Because as I said, I have a tremendous belief in your ability to reason logically and factually.

To my very dear Modi Bhakts/right wing friends,

Your left liberal friends aren’t as bigoted as you think. Those poor things have only been presented with one narrative; which is that Congress is the sole saviour of India, and its secular, democratic traditions—its Indianness. It’s high time you presented them with a counter point of view so that they can assess for themselves who’s speaking the truth and who’s not. Don’t expect their beliefs to change overnight. Expect nothing in return. They’ve supported the Congress Party for decades. So, it’s unlikely anything would change at all. But it’s your duty to at least plant a seed of doubt. So that the next time they hear the beaten-to-death Congress narrative, they may be able to question it critically.

That said, here is a list of questions to challenge the Congress narrative.

Congress is a party of the educated whereas BJP is a party of illiterates. Different versions of this: How come you as an educated person support the BJP? Or a more balanced version: BJP is a party of ignorant bigots whereas the Congress is a party of educated bigots.

You: Do you really think Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi or Priyanka Gandhi Vadra sound educated? Have you watched that famous Rahul Gandhi’s interview with Arnab Goswami in 2014? Or, any of his recent speeches? Does he come across as educated or logical or intelligent or rational?

Your liberal friend: Well at least he has a degree from Cambridge. Narendra Modi cannot even speak English properly.

You: Let’s not get into what kind of degrees Sonia, Rahul, or Priyanka possess. But are degrees everything? Is speaking good English the only thing that’s important in India? What about having a vision for your country? Do you think Rahul Gandhi has the vision to lead India? Have you ever watched any of Narendra Modi’s TV interviews and how he responds to questions so spontaneously, and sincerely, if I may add?

This will inevitably lead to the second part.

But BJP indulges in communal right wing Hindutva politics. I like Congress Party’s liberal attitude.

You: That’s what the Congress Party says. But do they really believe in it? Give them specific instances. Is minority appeasement liberal? Remember, when they tried to pass the Communal Violence Bill where Hindus couldn’t be victims of riots! Is that liberal? Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said Muslims had the first right to India’s resources? Is that liberal? (Do not forget to smile) Isn’t that what Pakistan too stands for and practices officially? Rahul Gandhi has formed an alliance with the Indian Union Muslim League in Wayanad. Now that’s the same Muslim League that partitioned India, the same Muslim League that wants to impose Sharia on all of us. Is that being liberal? Ask them: Do you know how Sharia deals with “non-believers” like you and me?

Also ask them: What’s wrong with defending the Hindu faith and civilisation? A religion (or a way of life) that gives you the flexibility of either believing in God or not believing in God. And allows you the freedom to debate both points of view openly.

This will lead to the third question.

Communal incidents of violence have gone up since 2014. They may even quote some statistics. Minorities are feeling unsafe in India. So many celebrities are coming out and speaking in the open for the first time. And many variations of the same.

You: Remind them that no major riot has taken place since the BJP came to power in 2014. Lynching and communal incidents of violence were happening even under the UPA’s watch. The 1984 massacre of Sikhs was the worst organised mob lynching in India since partition. But the Lutyen’s journalists were neither crying then nor now. Why?

Many incidents of violence weren’t communal in nature. Use Junaid Khan’s example. Even the Delhi High Court had concluded that his killing was because of a seat sharing dispute and not because of his religion. So why do Lutyen’s journalists and Bollywood celebrities still call it a case of communal violence?

Also tell them: It’s okay to discuss intolerance. But then also discuss why Ram Lingam was left to bleed to death in Kerala when he opposed forcible conversion to Islam? Why was there no outrage? Also mention Ankit Saxena’s murder by his Muslim girlfriend’s family members. There are hundreds of cases like this where Hindus have been killed by Muslims. So, ask them why there is no award wapsi movement in such cases.

As for minorities feeling unsafe, tell them that India is one of the safest places for minorities and that Muslims are much safer in India than in any other Islamic country like Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, or Saudi Arabia. If they don’t believe you, ask them to speak to any Indian Muslim who has ever spent some time in Saudi Arabia.

This will open up a flurry of counter-arguments.

So, why has BJP fielded Sadhvi Pragya, a terror accused? Doesn’t this prove they’re terrorist/ terrorist sympathisers themselves?

You: Thank your liberal friends for asking this question. Tell them: The NIA has already given her a clean chit. Tell them how Hindu terror was a concocted lie by the likes of Digvijay Singh. Ask them if anything justified her being subjected to such horrendous torture. Request them to wait till the courts exonerate her of all those trumped-up charges before putting any label on her.

Your liberal friend: But she hasn’t yet been acquitted by the courts? She’s still on bail.

You: Fair enough. But why aren’t you then protesting against Shashi Tharoor who too is an accused in the murder of his wife Sunanda Pushkar?

Your liberal friend: But I don’t support Shashi Tharoor.

You: Great. But your liberal media still hails him as a celebrity. He’s invited to talks, conferences, and lit fests. Liberals still swoon over his impeccable dictionary-distilled Oxbridge English. So why Sadhvi Pragya was debated for days but Shashi Tharoor given a clean chit? Is it because Sadhvi Pragya in her saffron robe speaks in Hindi while Shashi Tharoor speaks in His Master’s Voice with a twang? Why is Sadhvi Pragya guilty until proven innocent while the same rule doesn’t apply to Shashi Tharoor?

Inevitably, the discussion will then turn to Gujarat riots.

What do you think about Godhra? Who was behind it? Why wasn’t it controlled in time? Who was responsible?

You: Again, thank your liberal friend for bringing up this issue. Remind him that the courts have established that a Muslim mob had set fire to a coach in the Sabarmati Express burning 59 women and children alive. Tell them that the Supreme Court too upheld the conviction of a number of Muslims in this case but how it is still being reported in the media as a case of accidental burning. Remember how some enquiry conducted in Laloo Yadav’s time (as he was then the Railways Minister) held, so shamelessly, that the karsevaks had themselves set the coach on fire killing their wives and children. So much so for liberalism.

As for Narendra Modi being responsible, tell them that the Supreme Court found him and Amit Shah both not guilty but the liberal media still considers them mass-murderers.

Your liberal friend: But didn’t Narendra Modi deliberately delay deploying the army so that more Muslims could be killed.

You: Tell them that during investigations, it was found that Narendra Modi had called the army on 28 February 2002 at 4 p.m. the very same day the riots broke out. So, the responsibility for the delay has to be placed at the doorsteps of someone else, including may be the army which has a well-established drill for seeking sanction for all such deployments. Also point out that the man who said Modi had called the army on 1st March was one Lt. Gen (Retd.) Zameeruddin who was later appointed as the vice-chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University by the then UPA regime, and who named his memoirs, “The Sarkari Mussalman”. Do we need to say anything more?

Also mention that the Gujarat riots of 2002 weren’t the first riots that erupted in Gujarat. Gujarat has had a long history of riots, with the most brutal riots happening NOT in 2002 but in 1969 (which went on for months) and in which 660 people were killed, 1074 people were injured and over 48,000 lost their property. The Congress was the ruling party then and nobody can remember who the chief minister was. But why the liberal media never discusses the 1969 riots the way they discuss the 2002 riots is the moot point.

And finally, this brings to my favourite question.

Isn’t democracy in danger under BJP? So many artists, journalists, and celebrities are coming out in the open to speak against Narendra Modi. This has happened for the first time. All the institutions have been compromised.

You: Choke with laughter. Your liberal friends have had a good laugh on Sanghis and illiterate BJP MPs. Now it’s your turn to return the favour. Tell them that you’re dying to answer this question and express your surprise—what took them so long to come to this?

Then ask them: In which dictatorship, do you have journalists, politicians, comedians, and celebrities abuse the head of state in conferences, lit fests, and news channels 24 x 7 x 365 days in a year? China? Russia? North Korea? Saudi Arabia? Or their favourite Nazi Germany?

Also ask them: If Narendra Modi is really a dictator, why is he letting Priyanka Gandhi instigate children to abuse him and then say “Haawwwwwwww” covering her mouth, “Yeh wala nahin. Yeh achcha nahi hai.” Again, have a good laugh. What kind of dictatorship do we then have?

And remind them that the very party that is screaming “democracy is in danger” today is the one that had imposed emergency in 1975.

Your liberal friend: I’m opposed to Indira Gandhi, but mark my words, Narendra Modi too will impose emergency Indira Gandhi style in the second term. (Yes, I did have a friend saying this actually!)

You: If Narendra Modi wanted to impose emergency, why does he need to wait till the second term. Every dictator knows that they only get one chance to fool the people. Hitler was elected democratically but no elections were held in Germany thereafter from 1933 to 1945. If Modi is so keen on continuing his dictatorship, why is he foolishly fighting elections holding five rallies a day over the length and breadth of India? Especially when he does run the risk of losing elections and thereby losing power?

Not just Indian by birth, but by heart and learnings, is what India needs

It has been long debated by politicians, the family of economics and finance and the ‘elite’ of the country that it is Modi’s policy of being deaf to the advisers which is making them leave their prestigious and responsible seats to teach elsewhere in the world.

Economics and finance in India has been the debated topic among the youth who have become aware of the policies in India. Though completely scattered from the issue and often led to Modi’s politics, Policies have been at the least of importance when they are debated.

From Raghuram Rajan to Arvind Panagariya to Arvind Subramanian everyone have been the most educated, but not in the thought of India in specific. Raghuram Rajan’s policy of increasing the interest rates on loans for keeping a pace of increase in GDP has only been a disaster that ended up in decreasing purchasing power of the small and medium scale industrialists.

Arvind Subramanian has given few most intelligent and disruptive ideas like Universal basic income and Bad bank. But are they possible in the context of India which is just growing its GDP at around 7% and is still a developing country? It is certainly a big NO. Universal basic income can be made in countries which are self-sufficient and really not in much need of working for survival. That can’t be implemented in a country where there is exuberant number of employable youth, which just makes them greedy and lazy. Not that the policy of UBI will not benefit, It does benefit, but the scrap it creates for manufacturing one unit is really high and can’t be afforded by country like India.

India needs an economist who learnt Indian thought and knows what exactly India needs than what he has studied as an economist that India needs.
