The dynast and opposition hasn’t blamed PM Modi for India’s loss against New Zealand in the semi final

0

People of India must dream and work hard for New India as envisaged by PM Modi and should not consider either the dynast or the born belater Arvind Kejariwal or other opposition parties like DMK which always engages in spreading lies, negativity, hate politics and blaming PM Modi for everything. Luckily the dynast and his sycophants have not blamed Narendra Modi for India’s loss against New Zealand in the world cup semi-final.

When Kapil Dev won the world cup in cricket in 1983, it was Indira Gandhi the prime minister of India and similarly when Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the world cup again in 2011 it was Manmohan Singh the prime minister of India. Therefore congress sycophants and punkah coolie club members can easily attribute the world cup victory in the past was due to Gandhi family and luckily did not blame PM Modi for the world cup loss in 2019.

The above metaphor may appear humorous and demeaning of the opposition parties, but that is how most of the opposition parties and they dynast are behaving in Indian politics. At the regional level, DMK in Tamil Nadu is selling as much lie and hate politics as it can sell to the people of the state.

Mosquito not only can spread deadly malaria but also can spoil our sleep. But total elimination of mosquito is not possible and all we can do is use mosquito net or mosquito mat or other means.  And also remove all possible breeding places of mosquito.

Today people of India also must guard themselves and the country from those who spread negativity, hate politics and politics of dynasty and nepotism. All those dynastic parties have only one goal, abuse PM Modi. From their point of view, they have sufficient and justifiable reasons to dislike and hate PM Modi.

Narendra Modi is honest, incorruptible and very decisive. Unfortunately all these qualities are Modi goes against the political philosophy of congress party and other tukde tukde gangs. Their fear is that when Indians started to recognize the honest, incorruptible leadership quality of PM Modi, people would continue to elect PM Modi and would continue to reject all those corrupt parties. The problem of the dynasts in Indian politics is that they neither can become honest nor can abandon their desire for power to loot the nation.  Only person who is blocking all their chances is PM Modi, therefore abuse PM Modi is their politics.

Modi want to develop India and achieve sab ka vikas. But on the contrary the dynast and other opposition parties especially the DMK want the development of one family and not of the country. Therefore once again they have genuine reason to hate and dislike Modi.

Modi is uniting India, invoking the cultural heritage of India and reviving the tolerant cultural identity of India – Hinduism. If the above sentiments are revived in India in letter and spirit, India would grow as one nation, one election, one tax, one political party and one leader Modi. On the contrary the dynast and tukde tukde gangs were dividing the country, appeasing minority, fear mongering, abusing Hinduism etc., and on this count also, the reforms initiated by Modi goes against their existence in Indian politics. When Modi through his transparent governance makes Indian electorates wise and intelligent, the dynast and other tukde tukde gangs cannot fool Indian voters, cannot sell lies and hate politics and therefore they find many reasons to hate Modi.

The above elaborations are not meant to show how different is Modi from the dynast and other tukde tukde gangs which is well known to people of India. The aim of the writing is to warn and caution people not to fall into the false propaganda of dynast and other opposition parties.

India has to be transformed into a dream land of the world, ultimate destination of manufacturing and service sector, peaceful place to live and experience and enjoy the sacred culture of the land- Hinduism. For this purpose people must pledge their unconditional support to Modi and BJP.

Development of the state can be achieved only when the government is stable and the leader is decisive and sincere. Look at the situation in Karnataka where two corrupt political parties have undermined the democracy and are destroying the state. This would the result of coalition government. India needs unison spirit in politics where Indians must support he ethos of one India, one election, one ration card, one cultural identity, one political party and one leader Modi. Let us re-pledge our unconditional support to Modi and let us make New India.

Blame not BJP plug leaks in your vessel, dear dynast of the congress

0

The so called Indian intellectuals and liberals, the self-appointed custodians of democracy and secularism and the sole protectors of constitution are instead imparting some sense and wisdom to congress party to liberate itself from the dynastic culture, finds amusement in blaming BJP for the mass exodus of legislatures of congress party in different states who join BJP.

The question of anti-defection comes into place only when politics is being played out for power but when BJP offers good governance, governance free of corruption, nepotism, development focused, sab ka vikas centric and positive and people of India started to appreciate such good governance offered by BJP in different states, it is quite natural for those legislatures in opposition parties, especially the congress party to leave the parent party and join BJP to be a part of good governance and development.

When congress legislatures joins the BJP with such noble intent and purpose, how can we caricature those acts are defection, betrayal of the mandate etc., instead the intellectuals also must join BJP to build New India as envisaged by the PM Modi. But still some self-defined intellectuals and liberals find pleasure to be in the company of sycophants and punkah coolie of the dynast and criticize BJP and PM Modi.

We should not define an action as bad or good without looking into the true intent. A surgeon takes knife, it is meant to save the life and not to kill. Similarly parents put their wards in play school or kindergarten school even when the children refuse to go to school; we never call such act as cruel or merciless towards children. Always we must see the larger picture and overall benefit of all such actions in long run.

Today the congress party has been proven to be a party of a few gentlemen of leisure, lack relevance, vision, mission, support but still its soul is considered to be corrupt and bad, it is natural that all those in congress party who want to serve the nation has to leave congress party. After leaving congress party, the question is where else they would go? Most of the other political parties are as corrupt as congress, as dynastic as congress and also enjoys people’s rejection and refusal. When those legislatures of congress party aspire to serve the nation and people, the only political party available to all those aspiring legislatures is BJP and the inspiring leadership of BJP-Modi.

When they defect congress party, in fact people of India welcomes it and not see as betrayal of people’s mandate. People of India want India to be one nation, one tax, one election, one defining culture – Hinduism, and finally one political party and one leader Narendra Modi.

India has been destroyed by both congress as well as by several tukde tukde regional parties since 1947. Dirty politics and murder of democracy by imposing president’s rule in several states governed by opposition parties as well as imposing emergency were only India had witnessed when congress was in power.

Thanks the sublime beauty of good governance and transformation of India offered by Narendra Modi, people across the board are getting attracted towards PM Modi and BJP. When they realize the people’s aspiration is also BJP, it is democratically correct on the part of all those legislatures who want to serve India has to join BJP.

During Ramayana war, Vibhishana joined Ram because the negative governance and evil mind of Ravana was too much to bear even for Ravans’s own brother Vibishana. So was Sugriva when his brother Vali became too bad to contain or counsel. We never call Vibishana or Sugriva as traitor or betrayed truth and justice. Instead people see Ravan and Vali only as evil forces.

Today congress party is doing the same old politics of negativity, fear mongering among minority communities, abusing Narendra Modi etc. When congress behaves so adamant to remain the same, functions the same cynical way, definitely those legislatures of congress party are bound to introspect and question their continuance in congress when they aspire to do something good to the nation. Therefore they are quitting the congress party and joining BJP.

Everyone who want to do some good to the nation, who wants to remain incorrupt, want to support PM Modi to develop India, how BJP can shut its doors to such legislatures? A responsible political party like BJP therefore is duty bound to accept and embrace them to its fold.

The focus of PM Modi and BJP is development of India and sab ka vikas and governance free of corruption, nepotism and dynastic politics and hence all those noble legislatures from congress party are joining BJP. BJP offers ministerial berth to some just to show that BJP always recognize the good intentions of people to develop India and for the above purpose, BJP will not dig the past but set the agenda for future.

Hope the so called hyper-intellectuals and neo-liberals would understand the true intent of BJP. They also should join BJP to develop India.

If the Modi government thinks that the 2019 mandate was only for the development agenda then they are wrong

0

Narendra Modi won a massive majority in the recently concluded 2019 general elections, much bigger than the one in 2014 in many aspects. Different analysis and theories were put forward to explain such a historic mandate of many firsts – first time a government got re-elected in the world after passing GST, first time an incumbent government got back to back full majority after 3 and a half decades, first time a non-congress leader got back to back majority since Independence.

Most of the people credited the win to just one man, Narendra Modi and rightly so. Narendra Modi himself saw it as a victory of his development agenda and a mandate against the negativity that was being spread by the opposition. However, if the Prime Minister thinks that the huge mandate was only because of development and treats is as such, it would be a huge mistake.

No doubt the social schemes, infrastructure development, cleaning up the system, effective governance, no corruption charges at the top level; in short, ‘development’ agenda did play a big part in building up the confidence in the government and the leader himself but to see it only from that prism would be a huge disservice to millions of voters who voted for very different reasons.

A lot of people were extremely agitated and angry at the direction the country was heading into before 2014. Muslim appeasement was at its peak while the common Muslim men and women were becoming poorer and backward by the day; Hindu culture, ethos and faith were being mocked and demonized every single day by those who were in power or who had the patronage of those in power; Hindus were being blamed for the crimes and terrorism despite them being the victims almost every time; every attempt was being made to dissociate people from their past of being part of the oldest surviving civilization of the world; Hindus were being blamed for all the riots and skirmishes between Hindu-Muslim communities every single time.

In fact, a lot of people supported Narendra Modi in 2014 for this very reason that he was at the receiving end of one of the most hateful and malicious campaign by the establishment of the time for 12 long years, mostly because he refused to be apologetic about being a practising Hindu and for being tough on terrorism which is mostly Islamic given it is perpetrated by the next-door neighbour which is an Islamic state. He became the symbol of that oppression and suppression which had reduced the Hindus to second class citizenship in their own country.

That was one of the major reason that he got full majority in 2014 despite mostly being an unknown entity outside of Gujarat. Uttar Pradesh, the cultural capital of ancient Hindu civilization, which bore the brunt of ‘secular’ politics the most since Independence gave him the biggest win with BJP winning 71 out of the 80 seats in the state.

Narendra Modi, on his part, did a fairly good job in fulfilling the expectations of the people. He promoted Indian culture wholeheartedly wherever he went. He reversed the apathy of the previous decades and replaced it with the celebration of Indian festivals and traditions. He appointed a saffron-clad temple priest (with lots of administrative experience) as the chief minister of the most populous state of the country despite the obvious backlash and hate from the opposition and their stooges.

He openly declared that India was not born in 1947 but is the custodian of the most ancient civilization on the earth, an act which must have irked the ‘left-liberals’  more than anything else that he has done. He revived many of the old Indian traditions and even got the whole world to celebrate India’s ancient practices. In short, he effectively countered the anti-Hindu venom that had been spread (and is being spread) for centuries both within and outside the country.

However, he did fail to fulfil some of the key demands of the Hindus be it Ram Mandir issue, removing government control over Hindu temples, making RTE fair to the Hindu institutions, removal of article 370 or reinstating the Kashmiri Pandits in the valley. He also failed to take any step to stop the desecration of the Sabrimala temple in the wake of the SC judgement.

But people of this country decided to focus on the hits and not the misses and rewarded him wholeheartedly for the path he had chosen. However, the events of the last one and a half months and his silence over them did dampen the mood of the people. There was a spate of attacks on Hindu temples and religious places by the fanatics within the Muslim community. One of the temples in the National Capital was brutally destroyed with idols being broken and even reports of urination on them.

There have been attacks on Hindus and their religious places in many other parts of the country in the last one and a half months but the man who felt compelled to speak against cow vigilantism has not spoken a single word on these blood boiling deeds by the fanatic groups in the Muslim community.

I understand that he spoke about breaking the stranglehold the ‘secular’ parties have over the Muslim voters and bring them into the mainstream. But that should not mean adopting the same policies as that of ‘secular’ parties of closing the eyes when Hindus are victimized. Because if that happens then that would be a complete betrayal of the mandate that he got from the people of this country.

He must remember it was not only the development agenda which brought him back; even Vajpayee and Narsimha Rao presided over a period of high growth and development; the confidence that he generated among the Hindus through his policies and conduct who had almost given up on the political class played an equally crucial role in him getting a historic mandate. To assume anything else would be foolish.

Those who can give with both hands can also take it back if their aspirations and expectations are not met. I hope Narendra Modi would not do that mistake.

Comparison of congress party with the survival of a headless roach

0

Today the functioning of congress looks like it has reduced itself to the state of a headless roach or praying mantis. It is scientifically proven that a roach (cockroach) can survive decapitation.  The question is how a roach survives without head? Cockroach does not have blood pressure, does not have the network of blood vessels like that of humans, instead they have open circulatory system. When the head is removed, the neck seals off immediately and thus the blood loss is controlled. The headless roach can breathe through spiracles or little holes in the body segment. Besides all the above, the brain of the roach does not control breathing or blood circulation. Roach is also cold blooded animal. Hence the headless roach can survive for days and die more due to starvation.

Interestingly the head also can survive for days without body, waving its antennae until all the reserved energy is exhausted. The refrigerated, nutrient supplemented head under experimental conditions has survived for several hours.

In the case of Praying Mantis also the game is same. During mating, the female praying mantis is known to eat of the head of the male but the male would still mate/copulate the female, without head. The process of copulation in praying mantis is not controlled by the head.

Today if we scientifically compare the plight of the grand old congress party we can draw several similarities between congress party with headless roach or headless Praying Mantis.

Once upon a time, congress party was crawling in Indian politics like a cockroach, ruined our country, colonized corruption in every nook and corner of governance and in fact congress party was a real ‘vermin’ in Indian politics. Defeat after defeat that suffered by the dynast or the head of the congress party made the dynast tired and obviously he finds no more lies to spread, no scope for hate and negative politics, no more unwise and gullible people to accept his un-teachable leadership traits therefore the dynast has decided to decapitate from the congress party as its head. As soon as he got decapitated, the congress party has become a headless roach and it can survive only for very short period of time. Similarly the dynast also like the decapitated head of a roach that survives for hours, would last for some more time in Indian politics.

Since 1947, the family politics of congress party has corroded India, bread corruption in Indian politics from head to toe, celebrated nepotism, destroyed merit, harmed religious amity among various religions through minority appeasement politics, destroyed development, economy, merit etc. India was sick and tired of congress party and was longing for a saviour.

As a part of good and corruption free governance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started to de-weed all corrupt babus and officials, frozen all opportunities for the political parties to loot the nation and as a result of all such initiatives, the dynast of the congress party could not sell his lies, fear mongering, negative politics and calling the embodiment of truth and goodness, PM Modi a thief etc. Finally the defeat hit the dynast very hard and due to the unbearable pain and frustration suffered after recent poll, the dynast has decided to get decapitated from congress as its head.

Today the dynast behaves like the decapitated head of a roach and similarly the congress party is also behaving exactly like the body of a headless roach. The present day crisis of congress party is real text book knowledge for all those who want to be in Indian politics.

Politics of dynasty, nepotism, sycophancy club, corruption, politics of arithmetic, coalition politic, minority appeasement, fear mongering among minority community, politics of negativity and hatred etc., are not going to find any support or patronage in Indian politics in future.

PM Modi has transformed India, made Indians dreamers and workers of New India, reached the good governance of Modi to every house and made India the country of positivity, sacred culture- Hinduism and land of virtues and spirituality.

People of India must pledge their unconditional support to PM Modi to develop India and at the same time must defeat all regional forces and congress party. When the governance is good, corruption and nepotism free and centred around sab ak vikas, opposition is not needed. PM Modi is a noble, benevolent, visionary leader. He is the cradle of honesty and personal integrity.  To save India, India need BJP and PM Modi and not headless roach or praying mantis.

A game of margins – Everything that could have gone wrong went wrong for team India

0

So Indian cricket team bowed out of 2019 cricket world cup owing to their defeat to a determined NZ team in the first semi-final. Chasing a modest total of 240, Indian team bundled out for 221 in the last over to give millions a heartbreak who had already started praying for an Australian win so that India could avoid a resurgent English team in their own backyard in the Lord’s final.

But it was just not meant to be!

Sports are by nature unpredictable. No matter how strong an individual or a team is, the other side always has a chance. That’s what make them so exciting to watch. It was an amazing game of cricket. A game which Indian team should be proud of despite their heartbreaking loss.

It was a game where everything that Indian fans thought could have gone wrong for team India went wrong. A day long rain spell, which forced the match into the reserve day, meant that the spice in the pitch was back for Indian innings. NZ new ball bowlers swung the ball just enough to send back the Indian top order which had scored the majority of the runs for the team. Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli – all got out after scoring a solitary run.

Virat Kohli was given out LBW when the DRS showed that half-a-inch height would have forced the on field umpire to overturn his decision. India badly missed a proper number 4 which had been the only talking point before the start of the tournament and even throughout. Indian young guns – Rishab Pant and Hardik Pandya, though showed a lot of fight, grit and determination but also gave a proof of their inexperience when both of them just could not hold themselves back any longer and decided to take on the lone spinner in middle of a fabulous spell.

Indian think tank committed its biggest blunder of the tournament to not send Dhoni earlier ahead of Hardik Pandya when his experience and calmness at the pitch could have helped the young stroke makers. All this led to India slumping to 92 for 6 in the 31st over, still requiring almost 150 runs off 20 overs. But what transpired after that should give a sense of pride to every Indian cricket team fan and just showed why this Indian team is different from the ones in the past.

The last recognized batting pair of Dhoni and ‘Sir’ Jadeja took the game close with Jadeja playing the innings of his life under tremendous pressure. If it would have been the old team, there would have been no fight, forget the confidence of winning from such a grim situation but this is ‘new Indian team’ which believes that they can win from any situation and they almost did. When Jadeja got out India still required 32 off 13 balls, an equation which most of the Indian fans would have taken after the end of 31st over.

Dhoni took it upon himself like he has done throughout his career with superhuman success rate to take the team home in the last 2 overs. He started with a six which brought the equation down to 25 from 10 balls. He knew he needed to play all the 10 balls for India to have a chance but he also knew in his heart that he was not the same Dhoni as he was, say, 5 years ago. He took the opposition’s best fielder on to sprint for a couple but an unlikely direct hit from the deep made him fell short by the thinnest of the margins possible. Half a centimeter more and result could have been different.

So, again whatever that could have gone wrong for India went wrong – a top order collapse, a marginal LBW call, young talents showing their inexperience, Dhoni getting run-out by thinnest of margins and a lack of solid middle order. Despite all this they did not surrender, they fought valiantly to take it to the last over, to make it one of the most exciting game of cricket to watch, to loose it with the thinnest of margins.

In such a game of margins, Indian team and their fans should be proud of the performance put in by the team rather than lamenting the loss. There is no shame in loosing such a game of cricket and Indian team should come home with their heads held high!

The pusillanimous policy adopted by Gandhi-Nehru during Independence is unraveling now

0

Mahatama Gandhi and Jawahar Lal Nehru were two of the tallest leaders of India at the time of Independence. The former went on to become the unofficial “Father of the Nation” while the latter became the first Prime Minister of India and the longest serving PM till date. Jawahar Lal Nehru was perhaps the most dedicated disciple of Mahatama Gandhi and invariably used to tread the path shown by the Mahatama himself. Mahatama also used to have a soft corner for the ‘modern’ and ‘glamorous’ foreign educated (just like him) Nehru.

The first act of subverting the democracy, even before it was decided that India would be a democratic nation, was done by the ‘Father’ himself for his favorite disciple when he overrode the entire Congress party leadership to install Jawahar Lal Nehru as the Congress President instead of the majority choice of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in 1946, thereby making it clear that Jawahar Lal Nehru would be India’s first PM, and not Sardar Patel who was the overwhelming choice.

During the Independence, Partition and its subsequent handling, and the immediate aftermath set India on a path due to which it is still finding it difficult to unite the citizens of the country as one. Thanks to DD archives, we get a glimpse into the logic and reasoning that went into accepting the partition of the country by the then PM-to-be Jawahar Lal Nehru.

In his own words, Jawahar Lal Nehru said he understood that the violence unleashed by Mumhammad Ali Jinnah and Muslim League would not stop unless their demand of partition was accepted. He also said that since most of the Muslim league leaders were ‘Zamindaars’ and would naturally be opposed to the land reforms that he wanted to bring in, he thought it would be easier for him to carry out those reforms without them.

So, in other words, he surrendered to the violent tactics and allowed himself to be held hostage by a bunch of people with selfish interests. The consequence was the death of millions of Indians, acceptance of the notion that Hindus-Muslims cannot live together and a perpetual hate between the two communities.

One additional thing it did was to change the political mindset forever. It was the beginning of the so-called ‘secular’ politics. Muslims would now forever be viewed as a single coherent group (at least that has been the case till now). Common Muslim men and women were left at mercy of Muslim clergy which exploited them to the maximum by keeping them uneducated and backward so much so that the most heinous practices like Triple Talaq and Nikah Halala, which have been banned in most of the Islamic countries, are still being practiced openly in India in the name of religion.

The backwardness of the Muslims became clear when the ‘Sachar Committee’ report came into the public domain which validated what everyone knew beforehand that Muslim community is even more poor and backward than Dalits and Tribals. The Muslim clergy, ‘secular’ politicians and ‘left-liberal’ ecosystem tried to put the blame on BJP and other Hindutava parties for this situation despite themselves ruling for 52 years out of 57 years till the time of the report.

Though the ‘secular’ brigade would cringe if one were to held Jawahar Lal Nehru responsible for anything but the fact is he was the one who started this abhorrent politics of viewing Muslims differently from the rest of the Indian citizens because of his own weaknesses and follies. It was he who decided to reform the personal laws of the Hindu community but decided against the similar reforms in the Muslim community due to the fear of backlash at the pretext of the ‘time not being right’. He was at the helm of the affairs for 17 long years (5 interim and 12 after that) but the right time never came!

Its not as if Jawahar Lal Nehru was unaware of the presence of extremist elements in the Muslim society. He acknowledged the presence of backwardness and extremism prevalent among the vested Muslim groups in his interviews at the time but he just did not do anything to free the Muslim society from the clutches of the same. However, he did not fan those elements either. However, his successors were not so judicious in their approach. Indira Gandhi, to a lesser extent; Rajiv Gandhi, to a major extent, and other state and national level politicians afterwards openly catered to these groups and completely changed the meaning of ‘secularism’ from the Nehruvian era.

Their secularism was ‘Muslims have the first right on the Indian resources’, a license to riot and violence in the name of anything under the sky be it illegal Rohingyas, or ousting of Kashmiri Pandits from the valley, or action against terrorism. They catered to these elements to such an extent they were ready to pass the controversial ‘Communal Violence Bill’ which would have put the onus of riots and violence solely on the Hindu community irrespective of the actual reality.

Today, the Hindus stand victimized in their own country where only their religious places are under government control; where only their education institutions have to implement RTE act; where only their festivals and rituals are termed as regressive and polluting; where the action on terrorism is seen as violence perpetuated by the Hindus on the Muslim community; where mere slogans and images of Hindus are termed aggressive and violent while even the most heinous violent acts of the other side are something to be silent about; where lies and fake news are used rampantly to paint one side as intolerant while the real incidents of violence by the other side are whitewashed by the mainstream intelligentsia. This is the ‘normal’ that has been created through the practice of this sick ‘secularism’; this is the mindset that has been created through decades of this sick politics.

And what hope do we have in changing this abhorrent situation when even the most vilified ‘Hindu’, who is considered as the epitome of fascism, Hindutava politics, who is considered only a Hindu leader, an anti-Muslim leader; being at the helm of affairs but chooses to remain silent about these issues and seems to be doing nothing to change the situation. Perhaps, we are expecting way too much way too early from the man. How can the politics and mindset of 100 odd years can be eroded in a matter of few years. But the fact is there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel as of now. There seems to be no one who is ready to emulate Sardar Patel to bring about the actual change.

Mahatama Gandhi, who himself followed the policy of putting one’s other cheek forward when slapped on one cheek, overrode the majority decision in favor of Sardar Patel because he might be too orthodox for his liking or may be he was not going to be as accommodating as he wanted him to be while dealing with such situations or may be he was not foreign educated or may be he was for equal treatment for all rather than special one for some communities or may be he was sidelined because he was not as power hungry as Jawahar Lal Nehru.

Whatever be the reason, that one decision of his plunged this country into chaos and made sure that even after more than 70 years Muslims community has not been mainstreamed as one would have hoped for. His one decision made sure that India remains one nation only on the map with many mini-Pakistans thrive in the minds of many of its citizens.

This is the price you have to pay when you do not stand up for what’s right, when you think fighting for ‘Dharma’ and being violent are one and the same thing. If only, Mahatama Gandhi and Jawahar Lal Nehru would have read and understood Indian scriptures more accurately, perhaps India would not have been facing this crisis today. Not fighting for ‘Dharma’ is same as perpetuating ‘Adharma’. If Only they would have understood this ancient wisdom. If Only.

Just not cricket

Just not cricket….. in fact its not sport at all. Have expressed my opinion on this earlier and no better time than now to reiterate that the format followed by most sporting events (team sports) defies basic logic and is purely directed towards commercial interests and mere entertainment. No doubt both these aspects are important and have to be given due relevance but my grouse is that in our quest for the same we end up ignoring the actual soul…. the game itself. As is said, missing the wood for the trees.

Yes, you need the crowds and of course you need the money but at what cost! To my mind the primary purpose of international sporting events should be to crown the most deserving team as the world champions of that particular sport, all other objectives… making the sport popular, generating revenue, filling the stadiums et al should be secondary.

To that end, ICC did take the first step, this World Cup, by replacing the ‘League Pool’ stage with ‘Each Team Plays Other’ format. However, to get the desired result it is imperative that the Knockout stage is also suitably tweaked. A team which wins all league matches can be unfairly ousted by one period of poor play, one bad decision or even weather proving to be the determining factor.

Ideally, after such a long league stage & especially when each team has had an opportunity to stamp its authority over the other participating teams in their individual encounters, the top 2 teams should actually slug it out in a best of 3 finals, to lay claim on the coveted trophy. That will take care of most, if not all, extraneous factors which end up unnecessarily influencing the outcome of these events.

In case, there are more voices in support of having the top 4 teams play the Knockout stage then the IPL format could be the preferred option, at least it provides 2 strikes to the top 2 teams. Though personally am totally anti that as there is no plausible reason which justifies a 4th placed team challenging the top team at the end of a long drawn out league stage.

This not only holds true for cricket but almost all sports and the much more popular, soccer world cup, has seen many deserving teams miss out on this very account.
