The era of expansionists is over

These are the historic words, uttered by ‘Narendra Damodar Modi’, that will be etched in the memory of future generations, for time eternal to come. (Nimu, Ladakh, India, July 3, 2020)

When the clouds of this ‘China Made’ pandemic are blown over, and when the world will restore itself back to normalcy, and re-embark on its quest towards prosperity; history will stand witness to the leadership, courage, and dedication of this ‘Humble Son of India’.

Historically, mankind has been an expansionist. Wars have been fought to capture territory and riches that belonged to another being.

In the civilized world, when war has taken place, a compromise would be reached, which more often, would be ‘Unfair’, and would be tilted towards the ‘Aggressor’. The terms of ‘Cease Fire’ and ‘Status Quo’ becoming the standard norm for diffusing any armed conflict.

World leaders have at all times postured themselves as ‘Messiahs of Peace’, condemning war, offering arbitration in disputes, extending diplomatic assistance; but ‘Never’ has any ‘World Leader’, stood up tall, and declared the ‘End of the Expansionist’.

‘Narendra Modi’, has lifted the spirit of statesmanship to an entirely different level.

His words, not only declare India’s intent and resolve; but provide to all other nations in the world, who are under threat from expansionist forces, the courage, strength and belief to stand up to this tyrant and rouge entity, which we all know as ‘China’.

The People’s Republic of China, as it is known today, and the territory that it claims as its own, was never a part of the original country. All of this territory has been systematically conquered by deceit, deception and force.

Be it territory in Tibet (12.28 Lac Square Kilometers), Eastern Turkestan / Xinjiang province (16.6 Lac Square Kilometers), Inner Mongolia (11.83 Lac Square Kilometers), Taiwan (36,197 Square Kilometers), Hong Kong (1,106 Square Kilometers), or even Macao (32.9 Square Kilometers); China, has never hesitated to annex the sovereignty of any country that it has found vulnerable and weaker to itself.

Today, China claims that it shares its borders with 14 nations, this is because China invaded and captured the above-mentioned territories. In its original form, China shared its borders with 8 countries; Tibet, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Korea, Guangxi, Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar. The fact is that originally China did not even share a border with India, this only happened after China invaded and took over Tibet.

Apart from its border conflicts, and false claims to territory; China has a maritime dispute with almost all of its neighboring nations; be it Philippines, Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan, and now even Australia. In its most recent claim of territory, China is staking claims to the Russian province of Vladivostok, citing it as its own through a distortion of history.

This rouge has been consistently increasing its arrogance, and aggressiveness; and feeding its expansionist hunger. The world watched and condemned, but never had the iron will to put an end to this; until today, when the ‘Prime Minister of India’, stood near the front-line border (LAC), and explicitly told not only China, but the entire world, his clear intent.

With the event of this declaration by PM Modi, China, instantly has got rattled.

This was not a response that they had ever dreamt off. Almost instantly, Beijing issued a statement that “Talks are on between the two countries”. There was no mention of any confrontation.

It was noted, that in his entire speech PM Modi never mentioned that it is ‘China’ who is the expansionist. However, the Chinese Envoy at New Delhi, immediately issued a statement that China is not an expansionist, and that China has well demarked boundaries.

Scoring a self-goal, indirectly accepting the fact that PM Modi was referring to China.

However, PM Modi’s statement although has rattled China, but it will not deter them from their current activities. China, will now play up to deceit, it will plan and plot its next step, it will explore covert means, it will drag negotiations to buy time to put into practice its next devious and malicious moves.

It’s a typical mindset that the Chinese suffer from, and it has payed dividends for them. They have been able to tilt the global trade deficit in their own favor, they have infiltrated economies not only with their goods, but also with their manpower, their movies, and their food.

Evidently, they have apart from being able to gain an economic footage, they have also gained a cultural footage on a global platform. Chinese also rely upon their past experiences with every entity, when confronting them.

Although, China in its latest adventure has claimed the Russian territory of Vladivostok as their own; China will think a million times before even instigating Russia for an armed conflict.

This is owing to the fact that Russia had rubbed the Chinese to the ground in 1969, where as per the Soviet records, about 800 Chinese troops were killed, in a short battle that lasted just two weeks. The Chinese remember that.

However, the Chinese also do remember the Indo-China war of 1965. They do remember that they had defeated us. And, living in the past, they would still believe that we will react like we did in 1965.

It has come to them as a surprise; the change of attitude, and the shift in response that modern India has displayed. This was totally unexpected for them.

They had never thought that we will block their applications and software, do away with their hardware equipment, bar them from our telecom and infrastructure sectors, scrutinize each and every of their investments, restrict imports, and take all other measures to cripple their export market to India; and thus setting the ball in motion, for the world to follow.

Neither did they expect to witness the sudden urgency in procuring all pending defense equipment that we had planned for, and advancing their deliveries.

In the backdrop of the Indian embargo on China, the Americans formally started tightening their screws on China. With the announcement of blocking two Chinese technology companies (Huawei & ZTE), and tabling a bill in their senate for the approval of sale of F-35 Fighter Jet to India; is something China never thought would actually materialize.

China did also not anticipate the strong support coming from countries like France, Japan, Australia and even Saudi Arabia. Their political counterpart in ideology, Russia, too declared itself neutral, distancing itself away from China.

China, has always believed that it can play its game and keep the world fragmented. That was its strength. But it overplayed its hand.

The COVID-19 virus, that has its roots in China, and with leading nations claiming its origin as a means for biological warfare; China has got out maneuvered, and is caught in its own web.

With India and America, two of the worlds biggest consumers looking at creating barriers for Chinese export, and with a high propensity of EU and UK to follow the footsteps, China’s export power faces serious challenges.

Further with closer co-operation within the QUAD Countries (USA, Japan, India & Australia) on maritime security, China faces restrictions in its free access to international trade routes.

USA, has three Nimitz class aircraft carriers in the South China Sea, Japan has activated its missile defense system and Japanese Coast Guards are aggressively patrolling the East China Sea.

Should a QUAD base be setup in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, China’s access to the Indian Ocean will be in peril. Leaving it with an only option to get its supply of crude oil through Pakistan.

With the vulnerability and complexity of its position in the geo-political dynamics, China is confused and is finding itself running out of options.

Owing to this, China now will further rely on its past successful strategies of deceit and deception.

And, it is compelled to do this.

China, is being rightfully accused of developing a biological warfare agent, and spreading it globally, and the world is adamant to claim damages.

The financial value that is pegged for these damages itself almost amounts to twice that of China’s GDP. The current scenario, has eroded the world’s trust in China, global markets will be skeptic, its capacity to earn foreign exchange will get curtailed, China’s currency will be worthless. China, cannot afford such a payout, it will mean utter bankruptcy for it, and will take China back to its stone age.

Faced with these consequences, Xi Jingping has no revival plan. He is relying on bluffing his way out. He is behaving erratically, he is tied up in knots, unable to rationalize, incapable of prioritizing; and he is power hungry.

Xi Jingping, is a deadly concoction lies, betrayal, and megalomania. A person who can see the mess in front of him, but has no clue how to sort it out.

PS: PM Modi’s speech not only rattled China, but has sent a clear message to Pakistan too. Wherein, Pakistan is amassing an additional 20,000 troops on the LOC on China’s behest.

Further, the location; Nimu, Ladakh, India – Holds a symbolic and strategic implication. Nimo, is located at a ‘Y’ Junction of the connecting Highways, wherein one arm of the ‘Y’ Junction, goes towards Kargil on the LOC, and the other towards the forward posts on the LAC

Who is responsible: UP police martyrdom

Can a system be held culpable of homicide? If not, it should be because what happened in Kanpur is much more than some policemen getting killed by a goon. Our policing system was devised by the British to be a force that can crush unarmed peasants not just literally but also psychologically by brutalizing their psyche and making them (peasants) feel like mere vermin in front of the mighty “Raj”.
Even after gaining independence, police continued being the same studded boot that was either to be licked over or to get crushed under all the while the wearer of the said boot was busy licking something entirely different.

Much can be written about the police-mafia-politician nexus in India but that would unnecessarily make us digress from the topic at hand: Police training. Were the policemen sent to “arrest” Vikas Dubey trained, disciplined or organized enough to carry out such an operation? Or were they just a motley group of personnel who happened to be on duty on that fateful night? Encounters, specifically the genuine ones, are a job for a highly trained, motivated and swift force not to mention one that is an epitome of physical fitness. Instead, the raid was, in all probability carried out by barely trained, overworked, pot bellied and waiting-for-retirement personnel.

Did any one of them have any real combat experience? Did they know about squad formations, communication through hand signals in the dark, stealth and other tactics necessary to face a real adversary? Were they ever trained on how to avoid an ambush and if ambushed, how to respond when being fired at from an elevated position? Was any one of them  ever trained to feel the reducing weight and increasing recoil of a weapon as its magazine progressively runs out of ammunition? Were they ever trained to evacuate a brother combatant if he gets hit? One might say this kind of training is only required for the army and paramilitary who have to deal with terrorists on a daily basis. True, but only upto the extent that police do not encounter terrorists that frequently.

But can we be absolutely sure that they never do? Once every 100 times a police encounter may be real (allegedly) and 1 time out of such 10, an adversary could be as deadly as we saw in Kanpur. Are we ready to sacrifice our uniformed men based on a statistic? Have we forgotten 26/11 where if our first responders aka Mumbai Police were well trained and armed, we would have suffered a lot less civilian and uniformed casualties and also avoided the proverbial “egg in the face” on an international level.

We need specialized divisions in each police precinct whose only job is to fight deadly force with deadly force. We cannot have our constables working as part time cooks keeping notes of Saheb’s low sodium diet and Memsaheb’s sugar free black coffee. We need jawans who can count the number of rounds fired from his sidearm and not the  “hisaab” from grocery shopping. We need drivers who can run their vehicles in reverse out of sustained gunfire in a tactical retreat not those who drive saheblings to and from birthday parties.

It is high time we review our policing system and make police a force that does what it advertises: Protect and Serve.
Jai Hind.

Mamata Banerjee and her oppression politics, can she win again?

Didi of Bengal, “Agnikanya” Mamata Banerjee has a prolonged history of curbing the dissenters. The tragic thing that happens to Bengal is that, in 2011 Bengalis voted against the oppression of communist but within a year people realized they are in the same hand of oppressors, probably more authoritarian.
It all started with the interview of Sagarika Ghose where Mamata Banerjee storms out of the interview and accused the questioner as maoist but she was a political science student of prestigious Presidency University. It was a great face loss for Trinamul Congress.

Jadavpur university chemistry professor Ambikesh Mohapatra was arrested because of a cartoon forwarded by him which criticized CM’s action against Dinesh Trivedi, the then railway minister who increased railway fare without discussing with her. In 2016 despite Narada sting operation Mamata Banerjee storms back on power with even higher mandate. Supporters started claiming that people chastise TMC and Mamata with this mandate. There was another scam came out named “Sharadha case” where many top TMC officials were caught red handed in a money laundering case against a chit fund company. Mamata Banerjee promised people that they will get justice. But Sharadha case is still not solved yet. Even in 2019 Mamata Banerjee used her police to arrest CBI officers who had gone there to interrogate Kolkata ex-police commissioner Rajib Kumar who has a link with sharadha. It stirred a battle between centre and state.

In recent panchayat election nearly 34% of seats were won uncontested by Trinamool Congress which surpassed the CPI(M) record in 2003 which was nearly 11%. This data shows the amount of oppression created in a democratic system.

But TMC faced a heavy blow in 2019 general election where BJP captures 18 out of 42 seats and ruling party manages only 22, which is a direct fall from 34. The bastion which seems impregnable is now in threat of collapse.

As Bengal gearing up for upcoming “Vidhan Sabha” election, parties already preparing to build their consent through online campaigns, it is probably going to be the toughest challenge against Mamata Banerjee where her oppression politics has no gain.

Is China losing an undeclared war with India?

An unprecedented game between two economic giants is going in Asia. The game has the potential to swing the global geopolitical strategies not only for India and China but also for great powers like Russia, the US, and the EU for the remaining century. There are different perceptions among the strategist, defense analyst, and think-tankers on the reason behind ongoing stand-off between these two countries i.e. recent construction activities by Indian side along LAC, abrogation of article 370 in J&K, China’s expansionist policy to encroach neighbor’s land that India termed it “Salami slicing”, China’s diverting tactic from its own internal problems like Hong Kong protest, Covid-19 disruption, economic downturn, heckling their nearest power to show strength, equating the Dhoklam fallout; and political aspirations of one man Zhao Zongqi commander in general of PLA’s Western theater command. No doubt all these issues might have some importance or link to the ongoing stand-off, but giving the inconclusiveness of Indian policy in China expelled all of the above reasons out of the discussion except Salami slicing, Dhoklam’s fallout, and Zhao’s political aspirations.

History has a lot of examples where an individual’s aspirations have ended in the political disaster or sometimes a war whether he is Hitler or Yahya Khan. China has been following the policy of delusion with all its neighboring countries, imposing its territorial claims that don’t have the potential to escalate the war and are enough to bring embarrassment to them. Countries like Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, western neighbors (except for Pakistan which allowed China to rule a part of PoK later claimed as a gift to China) Russia and India are all facing the same challenge since the inception of Mao regime in China. In the case of India, an unfortunate diplomatic and political failure of government headed by then PM Nehru resulted in the military and moral defeat to the nation in 1962. Indians have considered this war as an unfinished war as the military establishment had not taken into cognizance properly. It was Nehru’s blind trust in China that country is still bleeding.

However, the Indian military has proved their caliber in 1967 Nathu La clash when it was again trying to rebuke India and interfering into the Sikkim. It was Rajiv Gandhi who decided to meltdown ice between these two countries followed by all other prime ministers thereafter. In between, it was an agreement between two countries in 1995 under which peace and tranquility on the border got its importance. Since then everything was on the track in the political stream of India except former defense minister Mulayam Singh and George Fernandez who were quite vocal about the treachery of China.

Both of them raise their eyebrow on China’s huge investment in the periphery of India, continuous support for Pakistan to contain Indian, interference into the Indian domestic affairs through the Indian Maoists and communists, destabilizing central states through its proxies i.e. Naxals and Maoists. Forces raised the issue of funding from China and Pakistan to the north-eastern militants. Given this history, any blind trust in China will ultimately provide our own graveyard. However, the NDA-I government did the same in a hope that China will not repeat it and It will accept New Delhi aspirations and sovereignty. India appeased China on many occasions i.e. It never commented on the Human rights violation in Tibbat, Xinxiang province, and Hong Kong Never commented on SCS despite its interests lies there.

Rise of China as a global economic power, its desire to invest outside China accompanied by high demand for investment in India cooked up a perfect curry for the nation to achieve its economic dream. Wuhan and Mahabalipuram Summit got global headlines as the world was perceiving this as a permanent tuning between the elephant and dragon. It is a parallel view in Beijing that New Delhi should be taught a lesson as it is tilting toward the west. Though India has its own interests in the Western world but it has never shown as a sign to ally with the anti-China alliances. Under the most dramatic decision, giving the profile of the nationalist government at the center, India backed down in the matter of Dalai Lama surprised many analysts.

In response to that, let’s discuss what China does with India. It is the only country which opposes UNSC permanent seat to India. It is the only country that opposes NSG membership to India (ready to allow if all other countries also backed Pakistan for the same). It used its veto against the blacklisting of Masood Azhar as a global terrorist. It supplies all the major arsenals to Pakistan. It constructed the OBOR into PoK despite India’s objection for the same. All these issues are irritating New Delhi for a long time. A recent martyr of 20 soldiers at P14 in Galwan Valley after a pre-planned attack of PLA’s soldiers under the guidance of Zhao Zongqi erupted the anti-China sentiment at the mass level in India. Now it seems this was an insane move by China to tackle India in this way.

As per my perception, China put a lot in the stake which it didn’t consider properly. Given the staunch support for BJP at all levels of democracy (except left-liberals and communist) and hard-liner image of Narendra Modi will make it tough for him to back out from the stand-off. Other than that people at the heart of decision-making (CDS Bipin Rawat, NSA Ajit Doval, HM Amit Shah, DM Rajnath Singh) are well-aware of China’s bullying attitude and also believe in hard power. Encroachment of 100-200 meter land by PLA is not an unusual activity. It is in their DNA (remember the born of PLA) to grab more and more land. While It is the attitude of the Indian government in recent years which is unusual.

India seems ready to bear a big loss even if it occurs as China understands only the language of power. The recent move of raising the economic cost to China, a clear message sent by Delhi through diplomatic channels, and a continuous movement of forces in the forward positions are all in the same direction. On the other hand, China is also not in the position of backing off as if it does so, India will get an upper hand as Indian media is the best when it comes to beating the drum. It will get an approval of the world as an only Asian country that can contain China which is something dragon doesn’t want. China understands the power of the market and consumer which itself made it a significant global power. Hence, both countries will be standing off in the coming days may be until winter. In between, anti-China sentiments are likely to go up in India.

This uneven and undeclared war is going to hit China more in all three possible scenarios. First, if China gets back off, India will be projected as an elephant who can crush the dragon. Here we should note that people from Taiwan, Japan, and the US all are raising their helping hand in this kind of nationalism in India as everyone wants to contain China but no one wants to take a lead.

Second, if ongoing stand-off will take time to reach into the permanent disengagement, China will be bearing big long term economic cost which it could earn in the world’s biggest market in the next one and two decades. This is a huge cost to China as it is still a developing country, prevailing poverty, and economic downturn there will make it worse. As one of the former Indian ambassadors to China said that it has lost one generation of India just for minor tactical gain.

Third, last resort for both the country to sort out this stand-off through limited war along LAC which no one wants. But here come to the biggest problem when we choose the military to solve the problem possibility of full-fledged war can not be ruled out. This will bring other power into the game as everyone wants to contain China and India will be a beneficiary, in this case, to have their support partially or fully which is also conditioned on Pakistan’s action along LoC. However, India should be ready to fight its war alone if it chooses to do so.

As I said initially it is an uneven war so any losses to India will have a lesser impact on its image while a minor loss to China will shatter its dream to become an only global power by 2049. Even a limited war with India has the potential to roast its dream. India has short term losses in all the possible scenarios along with one long term loss that It will have two declared permanent enemies. As Indian has decided to kick out Chinese investment from its soil so war has been started. Delhi is also seeking this an opportunity to turn its fate of dependence into self-reliance. It is safe for Indians to just focus on their work, be safe at their home, pump up more economic nationalism, park your investment at the right corner and extract the best of it as you don’t have anything too loose.

In this game, you have your consumer power at your hand and no one can snatch it from you without your consent. China is a good merchant, it will realize sooner or later that it was a complete miscalculation from its end to provoke Indians. You can read the latest comment of the Chinese government and global times for which are trying to cool down the scuffle. This is a complete contrast if you see China’s history to tackle the US, Japan, and other western countries.

Erroneous notions of statesmanship shall prove deleterious to Indian foreign policy with regard to China

0

Two supremely significant phenomena are afoot even as I write this article. The first is known to all of us: Chinese aggression against India. The second, however, need concern Indian policymakers in equal if not in greater measure: the upcoming U.S. Presidential Elections.

Eminent defence and international relations analyst Abhijit Iyer-Mitra has long been advocating a robust alliance with the United States. He emphasizes that it is the only possible solution against Chinese expansionism. In the event, however, that Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden wins the elections, it shall quite be a challenge for India to work with the United States. Very recently, Biden had expressed disapproval for CAA and NRC, which would engender a credible suspicion that India’s internal affairs would be meddled with. One may well contend that this is pure rhetoric employed in order to propitiate the liberal wing in the US, but it would be evident to the perceptive that the Democrats harbour an inexplicable admiration for China. In a recent interview to the YouTube channel Defensive Offence, defence analyst Major Gaurav Arya noted the following:

  1. The Chinese meticulously study the fault-lines of every nation. In India, the most contentious issue is that of religion. It is noteworthy how the Left ecosystem manufactures a narrative to the effect of, “She was targeted because of her religion” when action is taken against Safoora Zargar. Similarly, the most contentious issue in the United States is that of racism. The Left ecosystem in the U.S. manufactures a narrative to the effect of, “This is an instance of racism” when a Chinese national suspected of espionage is apprehended by authorities. The Left ecosystems of both nations have an inexplicable admiration for China.
  2. China remains politically communist notwithstanding that it is not structured as such economically. Every communist regime subsists on propaganda. It is, therefore, expedient for China to greatly invest in information warfare. China spares no expense in funding its sympathisers across the globe. Articles in The Washington Post, The New York Times seemingly exonerating China for its responsibility as regards COVID-19 bear testament to that effect.

Abhijit Iyer-Mitra corroborated the second observation when he mentioned that the Chinese government bore all expenses of sympathetic professors in various Indian universities during their visits to China. That the proponents of contorted narratives may be engaged in doing so at the behest of China is, therefore, a plausible contention.

Who is to say that the Democrats who identify with the Left-liberal thought in the U.S. would not continue with such disposition in the event that Joe Biden is elected president? That he may not be tough on China is very much a founded concern. Consequently, the inebriated policymakers in India need formulate a proactive strategy to defend Indian interests against Chinese expansionism. Abhijit Iyer-Mitra observed that India had set a precedent by means of its resolute stance against China in the recent face-off, and inflicting a greater damage on China than the damage it received itself. Perhaps, India would then have to take charge and form a coalition of countries, aimed at countering Chinese aggression employing such means as possible. Granting diplomatic recognition to China, increased engagement with Hong Kong and selling armament to Vietnam would be good starting points.

Indians must not concern themselves with Trump’s character and with whether Trump deserves all the slander in the world. Trump is a businessman. He does not hesitate to show that economic interests drive his approach so far as India is concerned. In that sense, he is certainly pragmatic. It is crucial to note that he did not bat an eyelid at the tempestuous anti-CAA protests during his visit to India in February. Accordingly, so long as he does not lose sleep over legislation enacted by our government, it is expedient for India that he be re-elected president.

I do submit that Trump cannot permanently remain president. At some point in time, the Democrats may return to power. India would then have to be prepared for possible hostility from its leadership. On that account, there may be a contention that it is not the party in power in the U.S. but our preparedness that matters. However, I say that a second Trump tenure would be providential, for it would provide India with an opportunity to make amends. As Abhijit contends, India has not sufficiently invested in defence ties with the U.S. Perhaps a second Trump tenure could ensure that this materializes. The India-U.S.-Japan-Australia quad must not remain a quad merely on paper. Further, it would be propitious to include more nations into such an alliance. Trump would certainly be more amenable to such an idea as compared to Biden.

The title of this article uses the term “erroneous notions of statesmanship”. This pertains to the mistaken notion of non-alignment being an indicator of great statesmanship. This is precisely what has forbidden India from investing in robust defence ties with the United States. It may have been propitious in the Nehruvian era–a notion that could also be oppugned–but it holds little to no relevance today. No amount of robust trade with China, for instance, can convince it to support India’s permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council. It is a mercantilist state and expecting it to understand India’s interests is an exercise in futility.

A final yet supremely important observation remains to be addressed. The Modi government appears to harbour an inferiority complex in re the bureaucratic system. So far as I am concerned, I find Abhijit Iyer-Mitra’s observations compelling. He notes that the current government comprises of people who have had humble backgrounds, and who ipso facto must have seen the administrative services with utmost esteem and wonder. To the Modi government, therefore, the advice from bureaucrats is most sagacious. It cares little for opinions from policy analysts outside the civil services. Unfortunately, vast though the UPSC syllabus is, passing the examination with flying colours hardly ensures that the bureaucrats have specialized in those subjects. Au contraire, specialization is achieved only after recruitment. Abhijit notes that many bureaucrats lack precisely this. I would go so far as to say that those proponing “non-alignment” and “strategic autonomy” merely seek to use jargon in order to stay relevant.

An overhaul of an almost lackadaisical foreign policy with regard to China would, to some extent, necessitate lateral entry into the Foreign Service. It is of the essence for the policymakers to get rid of their inebriation and formulate a proactive policy without further ado.

An open letter to the fellow countrymen why I chose to contribute to Opindia

0

Hello, my name is Suket Singh, as it is we are living in a pandemic right now, I have decided to do extra work as well by contributing to OpIndia, I have donated to this website as well as I believe it does bring out bitter truths that are hidden and it is deemed as communal because certain media outlets and the western press as well cannot digest it, but the truth also lies somewhere else that when they make news communal by constant bashing one side of the government by mentioning mob lynching etc but ignore it when the other side is guilty as well, it results in selective outrage only.

I believe that there are too many media outlets that are trying to damage Bharat’s reputation from within and external as well as the foreign press takes inputs from those who despise the present government and write all sorts of misleading articles and also misinterpreting the statements of the government and give a different angle to it. Take for example, Amit Shah once in a rally said that the NRC will help to identify illegal intruders in the country but the New York Times and The Washington Post said that Amit Shah called them as ‘termites’, a word which he never used, another example when in January, when the Supreme Court just delayed the hearing of CAA-NPR-NRC, Al-Jazeera wrote a false headline “India’s Supreme Court Refuses to Strike Down Citizenship Law” causing confusion among readers. This press is becoming a sole reason for why Indians living abroad do not want to come back to India and they are acting as divisive to break the country.

Now is the time to speak up for the nation and keep it first as in the last 5 years, a cabal of journalists living within a circuit in India and abroad, due to rising intolerance, have broken the country already so much that it is becoming difficult to even debate any issue or even talk to people. So I have as well, decided to contribute to OpIndia and give my views on every topic which is relevant in the country now, whether it is Kashmir, CAA-NPR-NRC etc. These five years will be very crucial for Bharat as we have ought to restore our lost honor, as these people have taken it away from us.

I would also like to also highlight another issue, that when it comes to the right-wing view, voices are being suppressed and articles are being deleted and taken down to favor the liberal lobby. Through OpIndia, we should also create awareness and bring more facts to light that our articles are being taken down. We have seen the same on social media, most of it happens on Twitter. A simple example of it is of, let’s take, Prashant Kanojia, the journalist working for “The Wire” who was in the limelight last year, if we see his tweet history, he has made vile remarks on Hinduism and he hasn’t been banned even once by Twitter, but Jack Dorsey is only banning right-leaning people. We need to fight this as well as dissent cannot be stifled.
So I hope, I will be able to raise my voice on this platform by speaking on various issues as well.

Ten centuries of continuous religious persecution of Hindus: Brahmins at the center of target

Dr. Ambedkar concludes the chapter on “Break up of Unity” of his book “Thoughts on Pakistan” with the following remarks:

“The methods adopted by the (Islamic) invaders have left behind them their aftermath. One aftermath is the bitterness between the Hindus and the Muslims which they have caused. This bitterness between the two, is so deep-seated that a century of political life has not succeeded in assuaging it, nor making people forget it. Accompanied as the invasions were with the destruction of temples and forced conversions, with the spoliation of property, with the slaughter, enslavement and abasement of men, women and children, what wonder if the memory of these invasions has ever remained green, as a source of pride to the Muslims and a source of shame to the Hindus?” (chapter 4: Break up of Unity, Page 59, Thacker and Company ltd. 1941)

Before arriving at this conclusion Dr. Ambedkar has illustrated the plight of Hindus starting from Mahmud of Gazni to return of Ahamadsha Abdali that continued for 762 years in his book. He has quoted extensively from original sources to justify his point.

He writes “These Muslim invasions were not undertaken merely out of lust for loot or conquest. There was another object behind them……..there is no doubt that striking a blow at the idolatry and polytheism of Hindus and establishing Islam in India was also one of the aims…” (chapter 4: Break up of Unity, Page 49, Thacker and Company ltd. 1941)

He has quoted Muhammad Bin Quassim, historian Utbi for Gazni, Hasan Nizami for Muhammed Gori, Timur himself describing his acts of aggression. He has used Tabaquat-i-Nasiri written in persian by Minhaj-i-Siraj to give chilling accounts for Bakhtiyar Khilji, Md bin Quasim and Mahmud Gazni. He has quoted Lane Poole for narrating Gazni’s expedition on Somnath Temple. He has cited some quotes for Qutab-ud-din Aybak and Firoz Shah also. He has quoted from ‘Badshah Namah’ detailing the atrocities of Shah Jahan. He has cited Massir-I-Alamgiri to find hints about Aurungzeb’s brutality and so on. He has used these writing to give brutal account and scale of inhuman treatment and mindless destruction and terrifying killings that were caused to thousands of temples, Hindus and priests during the medieval period.

In particular he quotes from ‘Tabaquat-i-Nastri’ to narrate the story of Bakhtiyar Khilji “great plunder fell into the hands of victors. Most of the habitants were Brahmins with shaven heads. They were put to death. Large number of books were found……but no one could explain their contents as all the men were killed” (chapter 4: Break up of Unity, Page 52, Thacker and Company ltd. 1941)

He writes “Muhammad Bin Quasim’s first act of religious zeal was forcibly to circumcise the Brahmins of the captured city of Debul …… he then proceeded to put all above the age of 17 to death and to order all others, with women and children, to be led into slavery” (chapter 4: Break up of Unity, Page 51, Thacker and Company ltd. 1941).

On Muhammed Gazni plunder of Somnath temple he quotes “there a hundred thousand pilgrims were to assemble, a thousand Brahmins served the temple ….. parts were swarmed with incredulous Brahmins…..fifty thousand Hindus suffered for their faith”.(chapter 4: Break up of Unity, Page 52, Thacker and Company ltd. 1941)

From ‘Badshah-namah’ he cites for Shah Jahan “it was reported from the province of Allahabad that 76 temples had been destroyed in the district of Benaras”.(chapter 4: Break up of Unity, Page 54, Thacker and Company ltd. 1941)

The “Tarikh-i-Firuz Shah” is a historical record written during his reign that attests to the systematic persecution of Hindus under the rule of Firuz Shah Tughluq, third ruler of the Tughlaq dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate.

“Capture and enslavement was widespread. When Sultan Firuz Shah died, slaves in his service were killed en masse and piled up in a heap…………..Victims of religious violence included Hindu Brahmin priests who refused to convert to Islam. An order was accordingly given to the Brahman and was brought before Sultan. The true faith was declared to the Brahman and the right course pointed out. but he refused to accept it. A pile was risen on which the Kaffir with his hands and legs tied was thrown into and the wooden tablet on the top. The pile was lit at two places his head and his feet. The fire first reached him in the feet and drew from him a cry, and then fire completely enveloped him. Behold Sultan for his strict adherence to law and rectitude.”(chapter 4: Break up of Unity, Page 55, Thacker and Company ltd. 1941)

Further for Gazni “Mahmud seems to have made the slaughter of infidels, the destruction of their temples, the capturing of slaves and the plundering of the wealth of people, particularly of the temples and the priests, the main object of raids …… and the fair and the dark, the rich and the poor were commingled in one common slavery”(chapter 4: Break up of Unity, Page 55-56, Thacker and Company ltd. 1941)

In 1202, Qutub-ud-Din captured Kalinjar “fifty thousand men came under the collar of slavery and the plain became black as pitch with Hindus” (chapter 4: Break up of Unity, Page 56, Thacker and Company ltd. 1941)

In the days of Alla-ud-din at the beginning of fourteenth century “The Hindus was to be left unable to keep a horse to ride on, to carry arms, to wear fine clothes or to enjoy any luxuries of life” (chapter 4: Break up of Unity, Page 56, Thacker and Company ltd. 1941)

All these quotes and instances are enough to establish that these 800 years were the darkest period for Hindu temples and Hindus and therefore Brahmins suffered the most. In the effort to carry out religious expansion they had targeted temples, priests and Brahmins on a large scale to spread terror in common Hindus to make them see reason in accepting Islam.

The sources are plenty including the quotation of Guru Nanak “Khurasan Khasmana kiya Hindustanu daraia, aapai dos una dai karta jamu kari Muglu chadhaia, eti maar pai karlane tain ki dardu na aaia” (Asked the creator that did he not feel the pain when Mughals invaded, plundered and terrorized the habitants of Hindustan) (Gurbani, Asa Mahla 1: page 360)

Francois Fidele Ripaud de Montaudevert, a French soldier who fought for Tippu, in his diary entry of January 14, 1799 writes “I’m disturbed by Tipu Sultan’s treatment of these most gentle souls, the Hindus. During the siege of Mangalore, Tipu’s soldiers daily exposed the heads of many innocent Brahmins within sight from the fort for the Zamorin and his Hindu followers to see.”

On the basis of British commission report, during the Malabar attacks of Tippu Sultan (1783-1791), about 30,000 Hindu Nambudri left all their wealth and home in Malabar and settled in the state of Travancore. Raja Verma writes in Kerala about the horrific description of the breakdown of temples in the history of Sanskrit literature, that the temples were defiled by breaking the statues of Hindu deities and cutting the heads of animals. William Logan mentions Hindu temples broken down by Tipu in Malabar manual, whose number is in hundreds.

Will Durant argued in his 1935 book “The Story of Civilisation: Our Oriental Heritage” (page 459): “The Mohammedan conquest of India is probably the bloodiest story in history. The Islamic historians and scholars have recorded with great glee and pride the slaughters of Hindus, forced conversions, abduction of Hindu women and children to slave markets and the destruction of temples carried out by the warriors of Islam during 800 AD to 1700 AD. Millions of Hindus were converted to Islam by sword during this period.”

Francois Gautier in his book ‘Rewriting Indian History’ (1996) wrote “The massacres perpetuated by Muslims in India are unparalleled in history, bigger than the Holocaust of the Jews by the Nazis; or the massacre of the Armenians by the Turks; more extensive even than the slaughter of the South American native populations by the invading Spanish and Portuguese.”

Alain Danielou in his book, Histoire de l’ Inde writes “From the time Muslims started arriving, around 632 AD, the history of India becomes a long, monotonous series of murders, massacres, spoliations, and destructions. It is, as usual, in the name of ‘a holy war’ of their faith, of their sole God, that the barbarians have destroyed civilizations, wiped out entire races.”

Dr. Ambedkar also gives a detailed statistics of British Army in 1940s and concluded (in his book “Thoughts on Pakistan”) “whatever be the explanation, two glaring facts stand out from the above survey. One is that the Indian Army today is predominantly Muslim in composition” ….. “the change is particularly noticeable after 1919. These figures show a phenomenal rise in the strength of the Panjabi Musalman and Pathan…. substantial reduction of the Sikhs from first to the third place, Rajputs in the fourth and by the closing ranks to the UP Brahmins” (chapter 5: Weakening of the Defences, Page 89 & 75, Thacker and Company ltd. 1941)

The entire narration given above is sufficient to establish that Hindus were at the receiving end of the continued persecution carried out by Islamic religious expansionists and followed by British for at least last ten continuous centuries. And throughout this terrific and brutal campaign temples, priests and Brahmins were picked up in particular to hurt, humiliate and kill to spread fear of terror and sense of defeat in Hindus. From Rome, Misr to Yunan and Afganistan they had tasted the success of this brutal-terror strategy and were able to completely convert the inhabitants of these area who were practicing Buddhist and Christianity, to Islam. They achieved this success by defeating and humiliating the reigning kings and shaming the established priests and temples in the area. They had expected similar results here too and were sure that even Hindustan will follow the same pattern. Thankfully, contrary to what they had expected, Indians didn’t succumb to en masse conversion even after witnessing the helplessness of their Gods, idols, temples, priests and Brahmins.

This was only because we as Hindus believe in only one thing that there is no final word in the path to explore God. We collectively believe in the science of religion. Unlike others who believe in God’s creation we believe in creating God as we can see God virtually anywhere. They kept on hammering and shaming communities like Brahmins and Kings but could not shatter our faith as our faith was hardly controlled by them. Instead of having blind faith, Hindus understand the science behind faith.

Kashmiri Pandits seeking help from a Guru Tegh Bahadur who obliged them with his extreme sacrifice followed by the mission of Guru Gobind Singh to keep our culture of religious freedom safe, is a story that is capable of creating faith in Karma of Krishna and not in miracles of God.

Nehru-fed Dragon is now terrifying the whole World

As all countries of the world, including the most powerful nation, USA, are tottering on their feet to fight against Covid-19, the scale of suffering that humanity is undergoing is unprecedented in recent history. The last example of such a massive outbreak of the contagious disease was the Spanish flu, a hundred years ago, and hardly any person who was adult at that time is alive to recount that tale of horror. People of today’s world are not used to see the gory visuals that the diabolic Coronavirus is throwing on us relentlessly. The videos of a convoy of army truck carrying coffins in Italy, a patient lying on the floor due to paucity of beds in hospitals in Spain, dead bodies waiting for last rituals on the streets of Ecuador, and migrant labourers of Delhi walking hundreds of kilometers carrying infants on their shoulders to reach their native place, can shake even an imperturbable person making his body catatonic, eyes teary, and blood to boil. It is natural to ask who is responsible for this cataclysmic event.

Going by the originating place of this virus, i.e. Wuhan, and the virus’ surprising spread inside China where it is confined within the province of Hubei insulating Beijing and Shanghai unlike the whole world where it is spreading to all major cities; it is quite logical to raise the finger of suspicion on China. The whole world is suspecting that the Coronavirus was manufactured in a military-controlled lab of Wuhan as a bio-weapon, or that it leaked accidentally from a lab not adhering to the required standards, or, to say least, it entered into humans due to the barbaric practice of the Chinese people of eating semi-cooked wild animals. China owes a clarification to the world as to why it is hiding the real numbers of death and infected persons? Why did the government authorities in Wuhan punish the doctors who were informing about this new virus? Why did it mislead the WHO about the human to human spreading capability and why the WHO did not raise a timely alarm for the rest of the world about the impending danger by declaring it a pandemic so that every nation would have taken timely steps that China took?

It will be grossly imprudent to believe that it is mere coincidence that the Coronavirus spared Beijing and Shanghai but spread in the USA from its east coast to west coast like wildfire. It cannot be ruled out that Coronavirus may be China’s weapon to bring down America that is assertive under Trump like never before. Sacrificing the life of its few thousand citizens to ward off suspicion would have been an easy and sweet deal for China’s oppressive government. But who is going to question the Chinese government? Under the dictatorial communist regime, it is impossible for Chinese citizens to open their mouth even after unbearable suffering faced by them. Given the economical, diplomatic and the military clout of China and its high-handed approach in international affairs, no country can alone dare to demand an explanation.

Russia is maintaining surprising silence; President Trump tried to be courageous by calling Corona a Chinese virus but he was forced to mellow down because of two reasons: (i) Strong reaction by the Chinese government. (ii) First and uncompromisable priority of checking the exponential growth of Corona infections and ramping up health care infrastructure to treat infected patients. India also, even though strongest in its history since independence under PM Modi, cannot demand answers to obvious questions from China because of the same reasons. Most of the nations were already facing a slowdown in 2019, and after the breakout of Coronavirus, their condition is like that of a hypothetical poor and big family whose sole earner is severely injured in an ambush attack, and thus the focus of the family is on providing treatment and arranging the next meal, not on thinking about finding and punishing the attacker.

One year ago, President Trump was threatening China of increasing duties on Chinese items for supporting American companies and to improve the skewed trade balance, but today, while deciding about the lockdown, the USA is standing at a crossroads to choose between the life of its citizens or its economy. Covid-19 has turned the table for China. There is no reason to not believe that China has beaten the USA without waging a direct war. China might have created Corona for the USA, but it would not spare an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone by wreaking maximum damage on India due to Corona. As China always prefers to carry out its covert operation in India through the Pakistan-based state and non-state actors, the role of one radical religious organization in spreading Corona uniformly to all Indian states in a coordinated way definitely add substance to the assertion that Corona is a weapon of China against its enemies.

To find how China has grown to this mammoth scale exhibiting extremely belligerent behavior in the international arena of power from an outcast nation in 1949, we have to go to history.

After the communist revolution in 1949 in China, for communism-wary Western countries, China was an outcast. At the UN, it was represented by ROC (Taiwan) Chiang Kai-Shrek regime, not by Mao-led PRC. It was Nehru who advocated the PRC representation at UN whereas the USA was against it. In a letter to chief ministers dated 2nd August, 1955, Nehru revealed: “Informally, suggestions have been made by the United States that China should be taken into the United Nations but not in the Security Council, & that India should take her place in the Security Council.” In the same letter, he explained his stand – “We cannot, of course, accept this as it means falling out with China and it would be very unfair for a great country like China not to be in the Security Council”. He appealed to the leaders of Britain, the US, Burma, and Egypt to support China’s claim on the Security Council membership.

In matters of foreign policy, Nehru’s approach was lackadaisical. His policies were based upon the preaching of moral education textbooks of primary school and there was no element of pragmatic diplomacy, power dynamics among nations, and long-term national interest.

Nehru (in 1946) became the Congress President and consequently the PM of India because of a special favor from Mahatma Gandhi where he overruled legitimate and unanimous choice of 12 Pradesh Congress committees that nominated Sardar Patel. But this undemocratic and graceless selection did not stop him from nursing an ambition to be remembered as a tall world leader and statesman even at the expense of the national interest. Blinded by this ambition and his love for socialism, he tried to appease Mao by offering a seat at the Security Council and relinquishing the Indian claim on that.

China owes a big thanks to Nehru for bringing China into the world’s mainstream and helping it in engaging with nations in a communist-phobic world, which led to its slow and steady growth in economic prowess and power. By resolutely advocating and lobbying for China’s inclusion in the Security Council, Nehru consequently helped in its rise in the world power order and its influence in international matters including affairs related to Pakistan.

Today’s China has grown into a dangerous giant that has a dictatorial communist regime inside, an imposing economic clout outside, a large military force, and the crippling dependency of global supply lines on it. No surprise that it is blatantly aggressive towards and defiant of not only other nations but even international organizations such as the ICJ, Hague. Had Nehru accepted the permanent seat in the UNSC instead of pushing it towards China, had he been out of his stupor of socialism to see the perils of believing the autocratic communist China, China would have not grown to its current formidable size and India would have not suffered humiliation in 1962.

India would have been the axis of power in Asia. History and historians have been generously biased in analyzing the blunders of Nehru’s policy and its consequences. That is because even after his demise, his own party, Congress, with his family members as PM or Super PM, ruled the country for many decades. Since the last 70 long years, India has been bearing the brunt of Nehru’s blunder on the Kashmir issue and his China Policy. Now the whole world and humanity are suffering in an unimaginable manner due to the dreadful deeds of the dragon to whom Nehru gave the teeth.
