१:- मंदिर के मुख्य दरवाजे के पास ही मंदिर से बाहर सरकारी नल है;

Book review- Sanghi who never went to a Shakha

The journey of the author through his academic and professional life from a Congressi Hindu to a Sanghi is beautifully described by Rahul Roushan in his maiden book, SANGHI who never went to a Shakha. The first thing that crosses the reader’s mind midway through the book is, if there is an Omerta code in the field of journalism, Rahul is either unaware of it or ignored it.

Most of us would relate with his early childhood in a small town middle class family. Many, like this reader, would also be familiar with his first academic goal – to get into the IIT. He describes his family as Congressi Hindu – not politically active but a congress supporter by default. Personally never deeply religious, he was brought up to become a very liberal person. His transition from an innocent child to a teenager coincides with the relocation of his family from a small town to the big city of Patna.

The introduction ends and the actual story begins after he moves from Patna to Delhi. The innocent teenager matures in every sense of the term as he does his course in journalism and starts his career as a TV journalist. For those of us not familiar about what happens behind the TV screen, he describes in great detail the roles of the people behind the news network. But that’s not what the book is about. It is about how the Left Liberal ideology dominates the media industry. I will be doing an injustice to Rahul if I give out more details here. Suffice to say, whether he knew it or not, this was the beginning of his conversion from a Libertarian, as he called himself, to a Sanghi.

The journey then takes us to Ahmedabad, in his words, “from Sonia’s Delhi to Modi’s Ahmedabad”. His first hand experience in Modi’s Gujarat slowly peels away the layers of false narrative that was built around the man and his state.

Anyone who has seen the transition of TV journalism from DD days to the private news channels has gone through the same thoughts about their unfairness as Rahul did. Difference being he saw it from behind the screen. For people like me, who is about three decades older to him, one can also relate with what he describes as history since he has no first hand experience of the happenings in the sixties and seventies. What we couldn’t or didn’t say, he has written.

There is only one factual error when he says the Emergency was imposed in March 1977. The Emergency actually ended at that time.

It is a book that must be read by anyone and everyone who is sick and tired of the left-liberal narrative in the mainstream media as well as Social Media. It will be surprising if one finds even a negative review about the book by the Left Liberals. Because it would be admitting that they read the book which would be a Cardinal sin for the defenders of Free Speech. Rahul will not be an invitee for the Jaipur or other Literary Festivals. To use a SM phrase currently in vogue, the publishing of this book is sure to be a ‘burnol moment’ for the Liberals.

Here’s wishing more power to Rahul’s pen.

Assembly elections: It is in your hands for making historic change

0

As a lifelong student of history, I feel compelled to present a historian’s perspective of whom to vote for in the forthcoming assembly elections in Assam, Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. I elaborate my voting preference that will bring peace, prosperity, and development under existing condition.

As a precautionary note, this article is not for die hard party members or who had already made up their mind but for those young voters and others who have not made up their mind and open for different point of view. Based on my analysis my preference for different states are as follows.

Assam- Choose anyone though BJP is a better choice.

Kerala- Avoid Congress, continue with LDF and give a chance for BJP.

Puducherry– Choose anyone

Tamilnadu- Continue AIADMK and Vote against DMK

West Bengal: Give a chance to BJP but keep it in tight leash by giving TMC a close fight.

Before going through rationale of the choice let me burst some myth.

Myth 1: We are electing the best possible candidates. This is the laughable myth. We are just choosing the one who is the better among the worst. We are eliminating the worst and choose the one who will do least harm. Avoid the most harmful one.

Myth 2: We can vote for the best candidate and they will do good for the constituency. NO. We must choose the party or leader and candidates do not really matter. Remember – Shri.Vajpayee provided good governance despite the MPs who made up his coalition. Nitish today provides a reasonable government with same group of people who were there for the last twenty years- same type of people Lallu had. Only difference is Nitish is not Lallu.

Myth 3: I Another misconception is individual votes do not matter. That is NOT true- 70% assembly constituency is so close that every single vote matters. In the last election in Madhya Pradesh many assemble constituency was won by less than 100 votes. So is the Bihar election. In 2016 ADMK had only 447332 more votes than DMK and that led to 36 more seats and that shows the power of each vote.

Let us go through each state with short historic primer that is relevant for elections and decide what is best choice.

Assam:  Assam is one of the oldest ethnicity and a race into itself for more than two thousand years. It has distinct language and rich history, and it wants to preserve it. Assamese have fought and stood against what they considered the foreign invasion from time immemorial.

The migration of sturdy but different ethnicity people from the area currently carved into Bangladesh is an issue from 1920 on wards. For right or wrong reasons, the Assamese feel that they will slowly lose their race identity because of this migration. There has been three NRC exercise so far   but none of them resolved this fear. This is not resolvable because no mechanism exists to dislocate people who had lived for generations in a place without causing great harm.

Neither the BJP nor Congress has a plan that will assuage this fear and solve it without human tragedy for the migrants. However, the current Congress leadership in Delhi does not even understand the identity issue and is divided party with no strategy or plan. They will also not work of any development activity and hence I recommend voting for BJP despite its overt verbal jingoism against minority. BJP will not do anything that will upset the delicate balance though they will make sound bites.

Puducherry:  It is a small and lovely place and people can vote to anyone of their choice and none of the serious issues exist in this tiny union territory.

Kerala:  Kerala is home to Christians before the Saivite Adi Sankara was born in 8th century AD. It has also a strong Islamic community and has minuscule Jewish population. This is God’s own country with good healthcare, education, mountains, backwater, and beautiful coastal area. For all its captivating beauty the society is underperforming as its economy is based on remittance from middle east. The stereotype is its extremely hard working people live outside Kerala and those tend to protest and dissent work inside Kerala. This has led to stunted growth and few opportunities for employment.

Both UDF and LDF the current players are bane to Kerala and must be dislodged because of its harmful polity, policy, and party. LDF has mesmerized people can go to Wuhan to study nursing than government or private start quality nursing school in Kerala.  UDF (Congress) is a party of multiple dynasties and it is hard to believe that it recently started having an association with extreme elements of Islam.

So, the obvious choice is BJP? Nope. BJP must find a way to bring the minorities who make up 45% population feel comfortable with it. Though they had been successful to minuscule extent with Christians they had a long way to go for Muslims. BJP must eschew some of its strong position on religion before we can recommend.

Given no alternative, I would recommend LDF as a choice and with strong voting for BJP in places where it can win so that the assembly will change from UDF/LDF dynamics. If BJP can get 20 seats that usher change for Kerala. I would like to see Metroman Mr. Sreedharan sitting in Kerala assembly as a sign of change.

The choice to pick up LDF instead of UDF is to recognize that as a party it still respects individuals whereas Congress is gradually losing connections with people. In closing, I urge people to see many photographs of the candidates of the municipal election. They are young, handsome women with good education and spark in the eye. Before they rot in the current situation, if a new vibrant party comes that will be a game changer. Until then LDF is the choice for majority with BJP gaining momentum.

Tamilnadu: It is one of the oldest and greatest civilizations and spread across the known world even before 6th century AD. It is home of wonderful temples dotting every street, every corner, and every village. Tamils have built temples from known historical periods that stands tall with unique architecture. Each temple reminds three elements- rich spirituality of Hinduism, everlasting architecture and melodious hymns written in the name of the presiding god. These hymns constitute a spiritual literature that has no parallel in any language including Sanskrit. These hymns are up to 1000 years old. Then much older Tamil Sangam has a repository of literature of Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, and non-religious epics that is so vast, old, covers wide topics and to study even the essence of it will take more than a lifetime.

Any person whom you may come across in Tamilnadu will be immensely proud of their Tamil ancestry and rightfully so.  But the irony is that they do not know any of these literary gems. Because Tamil culture is predominantly spiritual, and the atheist and Dravidian movement has disparaged it and relegated to a place that no one is even aware. It is a sad reflection that to cater to politics Tamils has ignored their own cultural roots and literature.

The Dravidian parties, particularly DMK has manufactured many layers of hatred – Brahmins, North India, Hindi, and as time went by to woo minorities started hating Hinduism and Hindu gods. To outdo DMK, many smaller parties pandered to more hatred, caste divisions and incisive sub-nationalism and spew imagined victimhood.

The argument that the backward class and Dalits have become better off because of Dravidian rule is not supported by any evidence and their status is it same as in other states like Andhra, Telangana, Maharashtra, or Gujarat. In fact, very recently DMK elites made comments about Dalit that shocked me a lot that the party is so caste conscious at the highest echelons of party.

The Dravidian politics pioneered in profiteering that Sarkaria commission termed it scientific corruption because it is not easy to catch them. This is illustrated by how DMK’s first family has become rich beyond imagination by business of politics. The close family, their children and grand children of Mr.Karanunithi  constitutes a dynasty of  100 people and they control very large enterprises. Compare this with Bihar’s Lallu who is languishing in jail for so long now.

AIADMK started exactly like DMK but over a period became more nationalistic, religious, and less hurtful. They do not have the first family and that makes them less jingoistic. Since they cannot use “hate” tactics they had to perform on governance and they did perform surprisingly better than expected in the last four years under the leadership of current CM , Mr.EPS.

I verified the claim that the state has cleaned and rectified many lakes, pond, and deepened water storage capacity is true to large extent. Cauvery water dispute is resolved thus bringing refreshing water situation for a drought prone state. The state is calm without serious disruptions and economy is marginally improving. Surprisingly for the first time the state is surplus in electric power. The CM and others do not display overbearing attitude and quite reachable and they managed the natural calamities like cyclones and Covid 19 quite satisfactorily. Maintained a good relationship with Central government bringing more developmental work.  Mr.EPS/ OPS provided Tamilnadu a responsive government in the same order as Mr.Nitish Kumar and Mr.Navin Patnaik though unfortunately more corrupt.

I recommend voting for Mr.EPS/OPS and their alliance to reward for a decent role by a non- dynastic politician to continue their good work. This will encourage people to govern reasonably to get second term. I did the google analytics of DMK and Allied parties’ speeches and writing and it is 400 times negative and hateful than ADMK. That is not good for the state – it will create toxic climate. And DMK, whose leader personally attacked Mr. Modi will not be successful in coordinating development activity. So, it is a good case to Continue AIADMK of Mr.EPS and Vote against DMK.

West Bengal : Before advising anyone in Bengal I will plead that I am no match for their political punditry and debating skills. Everyone knows Bengal has given many scholars, poets and artists that it is unmatched in recent history by any other state.

Going back in time, the history of Bengal is one of subjugation by foreign invaders from sea starting from Arabs, then Europeans followed by defeat and colonization of it. Invaders can only win wars as the people responded with renaissance throughout the colonial history. This shows the spirit of Bengal that you can never win them by force. As the sun sets, Calcutta presents an impressive skyline over the bridge over the river Hubli. It vouches for the state with full of resilience that stood the great famine, traumatic and bloody partition and many times the influx of refugees.

Even after independence Calcutta was financial, cultural, and industrial capital of India but things took a downward trend. The post independence history of West Bengal is a history of rebellion, constant protest, and dissent to any formal authority as well as to Delhi and they acted as though ‘Republic of West Bengal’ than a state. This led to business leaving and investment dwindling and it is no longer the economic engine as it used to be.

Whether it CPIM, Congress or TMC all acted in one common denominator. Their Anti-business and Anti- Central behavior have sucked the spirit of development and enterprise. The argument that WB still has some industry/mining is contrived because a place like that would have been in different trajectory had it been business friendly.

Bengal is thwarted by political violence and refugee problem. The political violence is almost like Maoist China where political parties and government becoming one and creating corruption, commission, and political feudalism. How would one defend that WB is one of the two states that is still not rolled out One nation, One ration card except defying common good? This is a simple tool to help millions of migrants and even Arunachal Pradesh has rolled out.

The other aspect is the refugee or migrant from Bangladesh. TMC leader who once opposed the immigrants in 2005 and jumped in the parliament well has now made a complete u turn. Not only she supports refugees, but her appeasement policy has reached such a level that about 150 Muslim scholars wrote her an open letter to not to be soft on some of their coreligionist when they do misdemeanor.

Now who can solve the refugee and development problem?

The refugee problem cannot be solved to anyone’s satisfaction but there is a conducive environment to prevent further inflow. Bangladesh in the last twenty years have taken development agenda and grown to a point that its human index is better than West Bengal. They also have an incredibly good bio-metric NRC that will aid in enforcing deterrence from people crossing with support from Bangladesh. No one expects the status of who ever in West Bengal to change but with some practical measure the inflow of people can be stopped.

On Development and growth, we are in a crossroad. Bangladesh is growing economically and as a society it is stable neighbor and is getting confident. If India and Bangladesh can work together both countries’ economy will grow particularly around the states bordering it. Apart from it, the connectivity to states on the east like Manipur, Tripura etc. can happen through the waterways, road, and railways across Bangladesh.

Recently the bridges that are being opened is a good sign. The railways that are going to ply now augur well. But the relationship must be built, and it needs to happen faster, quicker without fear, imagined or real of any influx of migrants. Once we reach the Manipur and Tripura, we can cross into other ASEAN countries opening a new gateway to the east. This will be huge and a visible change.

To fully benefit from the great and visible changes happening in Bangladesh and usher in not only development in West Bengal but making West Bengal as the gateway to the east and ASEAN and act as the anchor for growth we need to change. The change is to respect investors, growth, and respect for common good and strong working relationship with Delhi. TMC, Congress and CPIM do not have this in their DNA. I think BJP is the only party that can do it because of their DNA.

We do not want BJP to go overboard with its refugee/migrant plank and needs to be kept under tight leash and tone down its religious rhetoric. Also, we need a vibrant party that will give comfort to the Muslim population and hold BJP in check and that is where TMC can do a great service. BJP is a choice as they can bring change with extraordinarily strong TMC to keep it under check.

Answering the critics of Hinduism, Truschke & Et al. (2)

0

Preferably read the first part of the article before reading further.

In the first part of this article we saw doubtful motivations of some critics of Hinduism claiming to be scholars, and how they can use any less studied attempt to defend Hinduism in their benefit and importance of avoiding inappropriate language or behavior while defending Hinduism. And we saw how to properly understand and utilise positive strengths of our Hindu religion most evolved of all religions, the maximum positivity towards any goodness to counter illegitimate criticism of Hinduism.

Tell Truschke & Et al. finding and seeking unity with God through every good material and non material aspects and values is part of respectin rich Hindu ideals, traditions and culture. On one hand we pray to galleries of idols of deities to seek inspiration about positive values from our ideals; tell Truschke & Et al. Hindu polytheism and henotheism respects pluralism. So same time tell Truschke & Et al., any true Hindu would and ought to mind any breaks on pluralism i.e. polytheism and henotheism from other’s side because that would be against our principle of maximum positivity and goodness, and this is the very point which will help you get back those critical  Hindu and non Hindu brothers and sisters back in true Hindu fold. Tell Truschke & Et  al. if good faith is good value  then concepts of kufr kafir and fallen angels that create hatred against polytheist are breaks on value of maximum positivity and it’s every Hindu’s duty to contest such breaks on values of maximum positivity.

Tell Truschke & Et al. your pointing out, without proper context violence in some Hindu scripture or literature  without taking into account range of filters Hinduism applies before sanctioning of any violence tantamounts to serious attempts of misrepresentation of Hindu philosophy, culture and way of life. For a Hindu ultimate goal is uniting his soul back to the God, here I am talking of ‘Moksha’, and it can not be attained without achieving Sattva Guna Sattva is the quality of goodness, positivity, truth, serenity, balance, peacefulness, and virtuousness that is drawn towards Dharma and Jnana (knowledge);  concurring over own: kama (lust), krodha (anger), lobha (greed), Mada (arrogance), moha delusion), and ‘matsarya (jealousy), this condition is a very big filter against use of wrongful or indiscriminate violence, after concurring over one’s own Arishadvarga or Shadripu only one can for righteous causes think of violence if necessary but even before policy of Danda and Bheda policy of Saam a peaceful approach to sort out issues need to be tried first more than adequate then also things don’t work out pay to seek righteous conduct if necessary, if still some one’s conduct is not righteous then punishing or final war can come but even before that Hinduism does not give power to individuals but an Individual is ever under obligations of his Guru, parents, family, for whom he is working and benefitting from  and the king or the government in power.

Not only that in almost every person, living and non living thing he is expected to see virtues, values of positivity, goodness and God. Even before starting any conflict he is expected to send an emissary to avoid war and work out things peacefully, if still things don’t work out then and if non righteous opponent is of stature and if he is elder than a Hindu is expected to bow down before such elders before engaging in a conflict, and again repeating, In Hinduism one can not indulge in conflict for selfish goals and only as part of  righteous duty. Even many parts of the world have experienced bloody revolutions even in modern times, but hardly any in recorded history of India that in itself speaks volumes about our peace seeking nature. Still individuals falter here and there but that does not constitute Hinduism rather it is for other philosophies religions and regions need to adopt above filters.

Compare the sequence of Saam, Daam, Dand, Bheda along with all above filters which effectively put the heart first Vs with a sequence in some other religion where in usage of  Hand comes first if not possible then tongue if not then heart (do I need to cite the Hadith? Here is an article link that would explain more) decide for yourself Which philosophy is better evolved and more rightous? Still, Hindus and Hindutva keep coming under criticism for intolerance? This reminds me of the mythological story of an early middle eastern hero ‘A’, who breaks idols owned and believed in  by others  around him as deities, the community around him punishes him harshly. Now it’s true that community around him should have managed controlled  their anger about uncalled for aggression and could have avoided an harsh punishment, now interestingly followers of hero ‘A’ cite this mythological story to claim victimhood but none speaks against uncalled for aggression against conscience of others whether idols represent any God or not the idols which are not owned by you how do you get any right to break them? No one, no western scholar is ever seen questioning and protesting to religious seminaries against hate generating mythological stories of questionable victimhood used to create hate forever against idolaters. No one questions, same way other stories of demons devils fallen angels and so on used to create preach hate from religious evangelicals and no one bat an eyelid ever, no not those scholars who wish to preach tolerance to Hindus ? Why? What kind of positivity and scholarship is that Truschke & Et al. ignores and condones? Maybe Truschke & Et al. have signed the same number of letters condemning mistreatment of Pachmama idols  of South American earth goddess culture and we don’t know, ask them to send those copies so we can appreciate their positivity then.

The same is the case about believer and nonbeliever (read Kafir) binary of hate preached by middle eastern religion of great peace. Lately what is known is Indonessians seem to do some initiative in discarding that binary and move on, but what about at other places? Maybe Truschke & Et al. have signed the same number of letters condemning this binary and we don’t know please ask them to share those letters proving your kind humanism. After raising such questions Truschke & Et al. will happily come telling that they haven’t studied other religions to criticize them, what an excuse to hide double standards! For Truschke & Et al. it seems if second class treatment given to unbelievers by the great middle eastern religion of egalitarianism then okay, but to questions raised over that treatment  by any Hindutva leader would become intolerance? It’s true that there can not be a proper justification for hate against any community for it’s conscience, while with relative openness one can criticize Hinduism, and as earlier said Hinduism is ever evolving too, if needed, where is that openness in others in general and the great middleeastern peaceful one in particular? The lack of sincere philosophical level introspection and evolution in itself creates problems for their own community members and to those of other communities around them by their bookish intolerance, and that’s how it translates into community Vs community, is it not that effectively Truschke & Et al. wrongly blaming true victims that is Hindus Hindutva and their Hinduism?

If Aurangzeb’s faith based tax was okay then what is wrong today? ask President Joe Biden, to stop their own Islamophobia and pay Jizya ransome on behalf of Truschke & Et al. all their American and European brothers and sisters to modern Khalifas of Turkey, Iran, Saudi, Pakistan and Malaysia. What kind of scholarship Truschke & Et al. are that they claim unquestioned expertise in centuries old Sanskrit and Persian language in just five years training and no one ever saw them engaging even in a single live dialogue in those languages. They consider themselves very smart to translate Sanskrit words like ‘Prakrita’ meaning ‘common person’ directly in the word ‘Pig’. Their scholarship does not need to cite any inline citations on Aurangzeb while claiming to have rights to change prevailing narratives and wants to have claims over scholarship! The travelers account does not carry significant weightage in spite of them being sources independent of feudal influences of Kingship but weightage of accounts under feudal influences of Kingship is more! that is how great historians of our times, Truschke & Et al. want to help pro Mughal narratives in India as if Aurangzeb was great secular by having more Hindu rajas ever on his side than that of  his brother Dara Shukoh and Chatrapati Shivaji were lesser mortals so less secular!

Despite what happened to  Sarmad Kashani, Dawoodi Bohra spiritual leader Syedna Qutub Khan Qutbuddin, Guru Tegh Bahadur to musicians losing jobs from the royal court due to increased religiosity, Aurangzeb has to be rechristened as secular just because he and his predecessors used to pay some supposedly Hindu saints and temples on promise that they will pray for his lordship and his family to continue to have emperor ship for ever in India! For Truschke & Et al. Rama was misogynist even while  historic documentation for epic time can not become available  but the great mastership of  Aurangzeb and the Mughals was not misogynist in spite of availability of documentation since Truschke & Et al. scholarship did not study that! Still any one comes out with some sound proof and argument then absolves Aurangzeb with argument claiming, he was a man of his time! Then whether Rama and Modi and even Trump or Putin And Erdogan and Taliban for that matter are not men of their own times? For Truschke & Et al. Mughal breaking of temples and plundering of heritage were just political actions!

So what is harm in any political action by others for just being political? Does Truschke & Et al. have any answer for this question? In spite of criticizing all the limitations of Aurangzeb vis a vis his contemporary Shivaji, Guru Tegh Bahadur and Dara Shukoh, Hindus do have openness to acknowledge even fewest good qualities of Aurangzeb like he used design and sell caps, if Truschke & Et al. want to build temples glorifying Aurangzeb, Hindus are least likely to object because we do have few temples in the name of Ravana also in India, build but only on the condition that you do not destroy other’s temples as ideal Mughal Gurus of Truschke & Et al. did in their time. But even building temples glorifying  Aurangzeb will not help him pass tests of maximum positivity and  goodness and treatment  of equality to his majority of Hindu subjects for sure.

Yes, in spite their blood was shed, Hindus and Hinduism very well know that most South Asian subcontinent  Muslims are people of their own blood  and would be keen to live peacefully respecting their conscience but Hindus own conscience also needs to be duly respected just not in words but in deeds too.

Satymev Jayate! Vande Mataram!!

Answering the critics of Hinduism, Truschke & Et al. (1)

0

There is nothing new in the reappearance of some critic of Hinduism every now and then, this time fellow human (also a professor) Audrey Truschke’s name seems to be doing rounds again. While one of latest OpIndia news points out  while criticising expectations of Hindu rights groups, her scholarship would not mind celebrating support of some Islamic fundamentalist groups. Sans any job prospects for subject of Indology in Euromerica many times one wonders who subscribes those courses which seem to just having single point agenda of denigration of Hinduism and where do most of Indology students end up after completing those courses which have no connections with real life job prospects, moreover who funds those Indology departments in those capitalist countries where state would be usually reserved to fund from taxpayers money and expected to be very judicious, it is obvious professors of such departments have to fend themselves for continuation of grants donations and funding support.

It would not be a surprise then that the easiest way for them in general and Prof. Truschke’s style in particular to make issues of something tricky for common Hindu people and then keep capitalizing on any display of their disapproval. Any scholar groomed properly in any religious studies in general and Hinduism in particular would know, much more than any fellows of any other religion, exposure to religious philosophy of a common Hindu is much more indirect, a common Hindu usually picks up his religious guidance from religious stories told by elders or from media like drama and once in a while discourse with a family Guru, if at all. Obviously in such scenario many Hindu youth on social media are unaware of how to respond to the misrepresentation of their rich traditions and culture, many of this youth seem to resort to inappropriate trolling on social media, which in turn is used by these professors to their benefit to garner not only sympathy to their cause of denigrating Hinduism but also it increases their credibility in Hindu phobic and India Phobic circles and helps them tapping Hinduphobia and India Phobic sources of  funding and the vicious cycle continues.

So first of all, it is for Hindu youth to understand any usage of inappropriate language or inappropriate trolling is likely to benefit opponents of Hinduism more and not less. So the best strategy for a common Hindu would be to find a better scholar or some other person who can reply to critics in appropriate language and manners with proper knowledge of Hindu philosophy traditions and culture. At times one might need to wait for a while until some proper (Hindu) scholar turns up to reply, it is a job of patience. There is nothing appreciable in incessant manners of  Truschke & Et  al.; We very well know that they expect no one should insult them but they do have the birth right to  move on insulting and misrepresenting others, is a great rule of Truschke & Et al.. still I sincerely urge again to every Hindu brother and sister don’t lose hope, don’t get nervous, at times Hindu scholars will be slow to respond but we Hindus with strong tradition of scholarly debates  will keep making come back in pursuit of ‘Satymev Jayate’ every now and then.

Always remember there is nothing wrong, rather it is a duty to save your baby, your ‘Dharma’, the duty standing by righteousness of your traditions and culture! But one has to do it in the right way, with peace of mind of  ‘Satv Guna’ or at the most ‘Rajo Guna’ if the situation demands so but never with anger constituting ‘Tamo Guna’. Let us be confident of positive strengths of our Hindu religion most evolved of all religions, the maximum positivity towards any goodness is one of the less analysed and less talked but very important strengths of Hindu religions, but remember if one does not understand it well it can start working like a weakness causing disunity among Hindus. Right from first Hindu scripture we are told to welcome knowledge from all sides and another mahavakya that guides a Hindu’s life is ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’ and third stand by your dharma i.e. standing by righteousness. What does everyone consider righteous can be a tricky area.

Hinduism is that way very democratic and allows everyone to make his own decision in what is righteous, and that is where some of your own Hindu Brothers sisters may end up believing in your opponents position itself as righteous, and that is how Hindus and Indians get surprised with kind of disunity they face among themselves. What is the (philosophical) solution? If you are a Hindu indirectly it is pertinent upon you to not have any breaks on maximum positivity goodness since you are not supposed to compromise easily with principles of righteousness, truth and Knowledge. So introspect yourself at the same time and audit others extensively so that they are not applying any breaks on principles of maximum goodness, and in all  my confidence and honest opinion there is no better way of addressing detractors of Hinduism and anti India forces.

Where any detractors of Hinduism and anti India forces are found applying any breaks to the principle of maximum positivity and maximum goodness, question them. When they put up questions to you, tell them confidently that Hinduism has been evolving towards more and more i.e. positivity, goodness, truth and knowledge since times of Rigveda, Hinduism evolved with Yama Yami dialogue in Rigveda, it evolved with Krishna, It evolved through twentieth century discarding casteism, we are always open to throw bath water but retaining baby is our rightful ‘Dharma’. Tell your detractors the core ideology of Hinduism is always open to evolution in the directions of maximum positivity and goodness, and ask them very much from a position of strength  where is your evolution?

Why do your philosophy and religion seem to have breaks on principle of maximum positivity and goodness, truth and knowledge? Hindus do have scriptures but those are open to evolution sans need for bibliography of any out of date rule books. Hindus are supposed to respect a cult of men only up to good values and moving on adapting new good values with time; ask Truschke & Et  al., I repeat, ask them, when they are going to  effectively question out of date and stagnated values of the cult of men and bibliolatry in other religions which keep preaching unnecessary hatred toward idolaters and nature worshipers or even unbelievers?

Sexist remarks are besmirching BJP’s national image

0

On the 10th of March, Tirath Singh Rawat was replaced as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand succeeding his precursor Trivendra Singh Rawat over discontent among the state’s cadre’s leaders, workers, and MLA’s. Days after holding the highest office in the state’s government, he passed on two contentious remarks in which the latter one spurred nationwide denunciation.

While speaking at the Netra Kumbh festival at Haridwar, he claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be considered as an avatar (incarnation) of Lord Ram and Krishna in the upcoming times because of the miraculous service he is offering to the nation. The public shunned this remark, albeit Rawat faced a backlash from senior Congress leaders who declared this remark intense sycophancy of the Prime Minister.

On Tuesday, last week, while delivering his speech during the workshop organized by the State Commission Of Child Rights, he said: ‘Once, I boarded an airplane where a behen ji was sitting next to my seat, when I glanced at her, she was wearing gumboots, ripped jeans exhibiting her bare knees, and several bracelets on hand. She had two children traveling with her. Her husband is a professor at JNU. I asked: You run an NGO, wear ripped jeans at the knees, move about in the society, your children are accompanying you, what values will you impart?’

The Chief Minister also termed ripped jeans as ‘kainchi wala sanskar’ (scissor culture), he also claimed it is being taught that one will not be called rich without ripped jeans and bare knees. Rawat further added that people in India wear ripped jeans while those in other countries cover their bodies properly and practice yoga.

When his remark mounted to a hysterical point, he realized and apologized for it, but said he is still firm on his stance that he doesn’t endorse torn jeans as it doesn’t exhibit our ”culture”.

His remark infuriated and drew fulmination among women, who felt offended and strongly protested against the CM’s misogynist remark by trending hashtags such as #RippedJeansTwitter and #RIPMysoginy and flooding the micro-blogging site by posting and flaunting their snapshots in ripped jeans.

These sorts of vague, unrigorous, and sexist remarks project BJP as a male-dominated, patriarchal, and stereotypical party which results in the decline of the vote share of the elite and literate, urbane youth and women population to the BJP. Also, it tarnishes the party’s image in the national and global media. Hundreds of thousands of articles (like this one!) are written, innumerable debates take place on the television criticizing the ruling party and its ethics. Moreover, the crippled opposition finds a pertinent opportunity to castigate PM Modi and the BJP as a threat to India’s democracy and feminism(including the RSS).

A handful of pseudo-feminists and bogus left-wing trollers unnecessarily and deliberately dragged the RSS in an out-of-context debate and pointed out that the RSS had a long culture of wearing short khaki pants exhibiting the wearer’s bare knees. A few images of PM Modi, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and former CM of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis also surfaced on the social media sites in which they were dressed in khaki pants, white t-shirts, and cap, the typical RSS uniform. Now, yet again, it was proved that the hardline left and the Communists-Marxists use these sorts of controversies for targeting and defaming the RSS.

Unequivocally, it can’t be denied that the newly appointed CM of Uttarakhand gave a sexist remark and should certainly consider changing his mindset and attitude. In my viewpoint, the topmost leadership of the BJP needs to be vigilant about its leaders and their remarks. Also, they must augment the amount of liberalism towards women and should refrain from commenting about women’s attire and way of living. For example, in 2019, Gaurav Bhatia, one of the official spokespersons of the BJP, lashed out and advised Rohan Gupta, the Congress spokesperson to wear bangles and petticoat (the symbol of ‘ignominy’ in the Indian society) to which the anchor Rubika Liaquat strongly reprimanded and made him realize he was insulting the entire women population unintentionally. Misogynist and irrational remarks diminish the credibility of an elected representative, and he/she should try to desist from this. The BJP must not forgo and omit their pro-woman image, it must be the BJP that revered Rajkumari Kaul, her intellect, and extra-marital affair with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

This stereotyping of women and her ”unsullied” character is not confined to the BJP leaders, it is prevalent across all political spectrums. We have other misogynist leaders of the Samajwadi Party, like Abu Azmi, who said that boys often rape when they are zealous, and his supremo, the ex-chief minister and Lok Sabha MP, Mulayam Singh Yadav, once said that: ‘Boys will be boys, they commit mistakes’.

Also, the common Indian men need to avoid certain cliches about women’s attire. A woman’s attire has nothing to do with her attributes and ethics. The need of the hour is to change this turn of mind that a woman’s get-up and garments define the essence of her attributes. This pernicious mindset is the consequence of patriarchal hierarchy in Indian society. And for India, to be a flourishing liberal superpower, this gigantic gender gap needs to be bridged.

The Waseem Rizvi controversy and the Manusmriti

0

By now, everyone and their grandmother would know that a person called Waseem Rizvi, ex-Chairman of the Shia Central Wakf Board, Uttar Pradesh, has filed a petition in the Indian Supreme Court to remove some 26 verses of the Holy Quran, which in his opinion “promote terrorism, violence, jihad.”

Mr. Rizvi has also claimed that these verses were NEVER in the original Quran, as revealed to Prophet Muhammad (SAW), but were inserted by the first three Caliphs who compiled the Quran “to aid the expansion of Islam by war.”

Surprisingly, and despite all the furore, these views are not original. Scholars like Imam Tawhidi and Tareq Fateh have been protesting for quite some time about Allah’s Islam being supplanted by Mullah’s Islam.

Whether the petition would be admitted by the Supreme Court of India is yet another matter. But the controversy has admittedly put the focus on what these 26 verses actually say and sparked off another age-old debate. The debate between the Quran and other holy books like the Manusmriti.

The debate goes something like this. Whenever one refers to the so-called intolerant verses in the Quran like Slay the idolaters wherever ye find them (9:5), Jews, Christians, and Polytheists are the worst of creatures (Sura 98:6), or Fight those who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day until they pay the Jizya (Sura 9:29), the most common argument put forward (even by liberal Hindus) is that the Manusmriti too contains derogatory verses for shudras and women.

Of course, no Muslim would tolerate bringing the Holy Quran at par with the Manusmriti. And they would be perfectly entitled to their beliefs. But then why even try to compare Holy Books and attempt establishing false equivalences?

Let’s look into five more reasons that make any such exercise a logical nightmare:

Reason 1: The word of God

The Quran is believed to be a direct revelation from God. Anything mentioned in this book is Allah commanding his followers to obey Him.

The Manusmriti, is NOT a direct revelation from God Almighty. They were both written/compiled by human beings for other human beings of their time/age. This takes us to the second point.

Reason 2: The Quran is frozen in time.

Whatever Allah said in the 7th century remains true and relevant FOREVER. Be it the 21st century or the 41st   — not even one word can be changed or interpreted differently. In fact, the Quran even admonishes its followers to not to interpret the verses differently.

The Manusmriti, on the other hand, is context dependent. For example, verse 4.176 of the Manusmriti states that one can even give up dharma if it be conducive to unhappiness or if it is disapproved by the people.

This means that even if some verses ask you to treat women and Shudras harshly, you are free NOT to act on them if the public considers it wrong.

That means the laws framed in the Manusmriti are context and time-dependent. This means, if those laws were framed in the 3rd century B.C. or whenever, they were meant only for that age and time. And not for the 21st century or the 41st century.

This brings us to another very important point.

Reason 3: The Quran cannot be edited by any human being

Because it is the word of Allah, every Muslim has to obey the Quran and believe in every word of it.

The Manusmriti on the other hand can be edited, and has been edited/revised by the Arya Samaj, to bring it in line with modern sensibilities.

Reason 4: Guiding principle of governance

When you’re looking at the Quran, you’re not just looking at any holy book. But the guiding principles for some 55 nations that call themselves Islamic.

When you’re looking at the Manusmriti, you’re just looking at a document of archival value. Nothing else.

Reason 5: The Muslims consider Quran to be the pure, unadulterated word of Allah, eternal and perfect.

In most Muslim countries and even in India, young boys memorise the Quran even before they learn how to read and write.

Hindus on the other hand do not even know what is there in the Manusmriti.

If you’re a Hindu, ask yourself this:

How familiar are you with the Manusmriti? Have you ever seen one in your home?

Did your parents ever force you to read the Manusmriti?

Did your teachers or friends ever tell you to be a good boy or a good girl, as per the Manusmriti?

Ultimately a book howsoever violent is harmless if it has no takers. No Hindu follows the Manusmriti or is even required to do so.

Can the Muslims dare do the same with their Holy Book—for the sake of peace in the world?

India’s India’s vaccine Maitri

0

On the path to become the Modern day Vishwa Guru.

From requesting penicillin from Canada in 1947 to supplying Covid-19 Vaccine to more than 70 countries in 2021, our mother India has come a long way on its path of development & its dream of becoming the vishwa guru.

India’s vaccine diplomacy programme which is named as “Vaccine Maitri” has already taken off even before the global organizations like WHO could get their global vaccination programme on track. Even during the initial months of pandemic, India provided many countries with hydroxychloroquine & paracetamol and sent PPE kits and other medical equipments to nearly 100 countries. Thus, it is no wrong to say that even from the start our mother land was ready to serve others also.

Not only the world organizations like UN & WHO but also the member nations of ‘Quad’ such as USA have also acknowledged the Indian dominance in the field of vaccine production & called the India’s production power to be the savior of this world.

What’s the inside story behind the production?

From the month of march in 2020, after WHO declared Covid-19 as a pandemic, not only the fight of every nation against this pandemic started but also a cold war started between the major countries to produce most reliable as well as cheapest vaccine as soon as possible. Also the upcoming picture was pretty clear that the country to produce the cheapest & most reliable vaccine will lead the fight of the world against this pandemic and will eventually grow as a superpower.

India’s path to success:-

India never did hurry for the production of the vaccine, rather our government very carefully examined the correct procedure required for its storage & transportation also in the meantime large chain of cold storages were established throughout the country to ensure it’s safe & secure transportation as well as usage.

16th January 2021 was the day, when the world’s largest vaccination drive started in our country and now the eyes of whole world rested on India to lead this fight against Covid-19.

Even before the outbreak of this pandemic in 2020, the vaccine producing capacity of India was already very high. It should be noted that every 3rd Vaccine used in this world was produced by Serum institute of India having its headquarters at Pune. Thus, on contrary to EU’s decision for nationalization of its vaccine India headed towards the path of Internationalization of its ‘Made in India’ Vaccine.

India’s Policy of ‘Vasudhev Kutumbakam’ :-

While making the announcement of two Made in India Vaccines, our honourable prime minister gave the mantra of ‘Sarve santu niramaya’ (which derives its origin from Rigveda) which means ‘May all be free from diseases’. This was the first hint which proved that our country will supply vaccine to all those countries who need it urgently.

Working precisely on our belief of ‘Vasudhev kutumbakam’ and thus treating the whole world as a single family, 20th January 2021 was the day when first shift of ‘Made In India’ vaccine was despatched to some of our neighbors like Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Myanmar, and Seychelles that too Under grant Assistance. This marked the beginning of an era which was going to be totally dominated by India’s Vaccine diplomacy. During the upcoming days Vaccines were also dispatched to many countries of Asia, Africa, South America as well as Europe.

If the world managed to conquer COVID-19, “it would be significant because of India’s tremendous pharmaceutical capacity, and Prime Minister Modi’s leadership in sharing this capacity with the world”.

These words of appreciation by Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau are more than enough to determine the amount of respect & support our country and its leadership is getting from some of the world’s most developed nations.

Vaccine Diplomacy Battle in Asia:-

In the middle of 2020, while the whole world was busy fighting the pandemic, its epicenter China became more or less free & started the production of its vaccine. But it thoroughly failed to win confidence of major countries of the world as its pharmaceutical companies refused to share its details. On the other hand, while tackling 90,000 to 1,00,000 cases per day our country rapidly progressed on the path of mass production of vaccine along with 100% transparency in its production procedure and this made India defeat its arch rival china in this race of Vaccine production as well as diplomacy.

By supplying made in india vaccine to most of the south Asian countries, India made a bold statement that now it has developed that potential to lead Asia from front. The real battle between India and China was to supply vaccines to different countries as cheaply as possible which in return would grant their support in different world organizations and also would benefit their trade & traders.

India’s production capacity is so fast that till now it has supplied more than 58 million doses of ‘Made in India’ vaccine which is approximately 3 times of what china has supplied. India is working progressively on its policy of “Act East”  as in case of Myanmar which holds a very strategically important position both with respect to India & china was immediately granted with supply of 1.7 million doses from India before china could full-fill it’s long lasting promise of supplying 3,00,000 doses.

Dominance in south asia is a matter of great concern as it is home to nearly 25% of world’s population & also home to many developing countries, a close tie with whom can serve as a great marketplace for our made in india products & it can eventually boost our economy.

India’s emergence as a Superpower :-

Along with south asian countries India also supplied vaccines to Canada, South American, Caribbean, Gulf as well as African countries. When the whole world was busy fighting this pandemic & merely someone gave importance to poor african countries, It was India which stood firmly and helped many of those poor African nations by supplying them made in india vaccine.

Supply of indigenous vaccine to african countries can help india in setting up close ties with African Subcontinent which is home to enormous amount of poor population where India can establish large amount of developmental schemes & also gather huge amount of support in world organizations through this subcontinent.

India providing vaccine to Caribbean & South American nations is a big diplomatic move as it has challenged the long ranging USA’s dominance in that area. Brazil’s president thanking India for ‘Sanjeevni booti’ along with a picture of ‘Lord Hanuman’ carrying a mountain of booti itself describes the amount of love & respect our country has earned through this vaccine diplomacy. It should be noted that Brazil is home to enormous amount of natural resources & it’s close ally with India can help us revitalize our industries.

Last but not the least, World’s biggest source of petroleum & energy, the gulf countries like Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait were also provided with made in india vaccine. Close relations with these gulf countries can help India solve its problem of petroleum products as Saudi Arabia is one of the world’s largest oil producing nation & it plays a major role in deciding the crude oil prices in worldwide market whereas India is one of the biggest consumer of Petroleum products.

Also, one of the major reasons behind India’s vaccine diplomacy could be its hope to get a permanent membership in the United Nation’s security council which will officially declare India’s dominance in the post covid world.

In the end it should be taken into account that now its not the old India that stands on the doors of IMF & World bank to get itself some financial aid or the India which needs the support of USA or Russia. This is the new India which stands firmly on its feet & is headed strongly on the path to become the Vishwa Guru.
