Liberals' problem with Savarkar
हाँ तुम सावरकर कभी नहीं हो सकते क्योंकि: “सावरकर बनने के लिए..”
जिस सावरकर की प्रसंशा तुम्हारी दादी ने की, जिस सावरकर का सामना तुम्हारे नाना कभी नहीं कर पाये, जिस सावरकर को तुम्हारे चाचा सम्मानित करने हेतु सदैव तैयार रहते थे, जिस सावरकर को स्वयं महात्मा गाँधी "राष्ट्र का सपूत" मानते थे और जिस सावरकर को गोरे (अंग्रेज) भारत का सबसे योग्य, ज्ञानी और अपने साम्राज्य के लिए सबसे खतरनाक व्यक्ति मानते थे, उस सावरकर जैसा बनना तो दूर आप ऐसी सोच भी नहीं रख सकते।

This country should know both Gandhi and Savarkar’s views. The present liberals try to adopt Gandhi ji and often quote him. As a matter of fact, Gandhi ji was against liberalism practised in the West.

Savarkar quotes Ravana saying, “What? To abduct and rape the womenfolk of the enemy, do you call it irreligious? It is Parodharmah, the greatest duty!” The actual text quotes in Sanskrit as राक्षसांनां परो; धर्म: परदारा विघर्षणम्
However, what the Scroll writer conveniently ignores is “राक्षसांनां”. According to the quoted statement, it’s the duty of a demon/monster.
Which way to Freedom?
So far as the intellectual space is concerned, the books written by Savarkar pave the way to true freedom and provide a start.

It was the Congress which continued to attack Savarkar the most, years after his death. They feared that once Indians got to know Savarkar fully, Nehru and the Congress would be washed away. The fear of Indian Independence movement being democratised would mean the end of Nehru dynasty's divine right to rule. Savarkar's life would open a can of worms for them since it would include his meeting with freedom fighters like Rash Behari Bose, Madanlal Dhingra etc. Many such freedom fighters were not given a deserving position in the History written by Marxists.
