Why is virginity still the most important thing in India?

0

“Mr Sharma, if you have finished your conversation with Ankita, why don’t we allow Rahul and Ankita to talk alone for a while?”

“Yeah, definitely, I mean their conversation is of the utmost importance because they are the ones who’ll decide ultimately whether they want to marry or not.”

“Ok Ankita, you can take Rahul to your room so that you both can talk peacefully there.”

They both entered her room, sat on her bed and then there was a deep silence for few moments.

“I have certain questions, and I hope you’ll answer them,” said Rahul tried to break the silence.

“Yeah, please ask me,” Ankita said in a very polite tone.

“Are you still a virgin?”

And there was again a deep silence, Rahul was expecting an answer, and Ankita was shocked that how could somebody ask this question up front.

“Does it matter?” she finally replied.

“Of course, this is the most important factor, I want a virgin wife,” said Rahul.

Virginity is like a first virtue demanded from unmarried females in India. It is expected that a girl shouldn’t have taken part intercourse before her marriage. At the time of her auction (sorry I mean to say her marriage), she should be ‘untouched’ – so that her husband can experience an exciting feeling on their first night.

Do you know how, in India, the medical test of a girl used to be conducted post her rape?

The two-finger test – the most ‘tested’ and ‘scientifically proved’ method was adopted in the largest democratic country in the world for years.

In this, a doctor inserts two fingers inside her vagina – to check whether the hymen is broken or not – if it is broken – if the fingers of doctor penetrate easily inside the vagina of female, it is deemed that rape survivor is habitual of sexual intercourse, and vice verse if the fingers don’t penetrate easily.

Although the Supreme Court banned the two-finger test to ascertain rapes and have ordered to conduct other medical examinations, this test is still conducted in some parts in the absence of better medical procedures to verify sexual assault claims.

I can’t understand, how somebody can test the hymen of a girl to verify if she consented to the rape or was it forceful? If rapes were proportional to the condition of hymen – there wouldn’t be any such thing called ‘marital rapes’ in India. And what about anal rapes? – or those rapes where hymen of a female is kept intact intentionally – so that she can’t prove that she has been raped.

Actually, ‘virginity’ is something we have adopted as an obvious characteristic of an unmarried girl. We term the girls decent or characterless on the basis of their hymens. He may have sex with as many as girls he wants, but he wants a ‘virgin’ wife.

No, I am not discussing whether pre-marital intercourse is right or not, it is something that depends on the conscience of the boy and the girl, but can we stop deciding marriages on the basis of ‘virginity’?

The most important part is  – we consider a girl virgin only if her hymen is intact. Let me say something that looks harsh – we consider a girl pure only if, in the morning after the first night, the bedsheet has red spots – coloured from the blood that flourished from ‘pure’ vagina of the bride. If there isn’t blood – she isn’t virgin.

Can we understand that hymen is extremely sensitive and can be broken while playing intense sports, dancing, sitting astride on two-wheelers etc.? And can we understand that virginity and chastity are not the only measures to base a happy marriage on, honesty and trust are far more important traits that both partners should possess?

Virginity isn’t a report card that can assess the character and love of a girl. Think before you question it.

Bharat Bandh on fuel price rise: Are we protesting our bad Karma?

0

On Monday, September 10th 2018, all of us will stay home and protest the high price of Petrol/Diesel and the failure of Narendra Modi government at controlling them. After all, if Manmohan Singh was able to stop prices from going above around Rs 80/- when crude crossed 100$ and more in 2008, why can’t Modi?

Yes! We need to protest and show this government its place.

We need a “Bharat Bandh”! That’s how Democracy wins…

and so does our ignorance and stupidity!

“Karma is a Bitch”

We would have often read this. Today, you not only experience it but also pay for it. Literally:

In 2009, we returned a government to power. A government that was blatantly killing our future and mortgaging that of our next generations too. But we were happy, because who cares? Let the next generation suffer. We do that with the environment, trees, water bodies, our whole planet every day. Whats the big deal with the financial health of our nation.

Manmohan Singh (MMS) even openly told us so in clear words – that he was selling us out for ensuring a win for Congress in 2009 polls. That our future was screwed and our children would pay – only so that UPA gets another term. But all we wanted was quick gratification.

We are paying for it now.

There are no Free Lunches?

MMS, with his Harvard deputy at the helm of Finances – cooked up the devious “Oil Bond” mechanism to carry forward what has now become approx USD 25 billion worth of petrol debts to the future. A mechanism so devious – it didn’t even reflect in budget reports or debt calculations.

Interests kept rising, unpaid dues kept screwing your future. But who cares? Make merry – UPA 2 was rocking by then. We kept our head in the sand.

(source: http://www.rediff.com/money/2008/may/22guest.htm)

And now, for last few years, Modi government is doing the dirty job of correcting all those wrongs of UPA. Repaying the unpaid bills to Iran for oil imports, working towards repaying unpaid interests and dues on Oil Bonds, and ensuring that the misery doesn’t pass on to our next generations. Ensuring we pay for our bad Karma – right here.

Choice is ours

The choice is clear and easy now for us. Timing is also very similar.

UPA-1 started the “use now, pay later” in 2008, to ensure safe passage in 2009 elections. It worked for them and we got glorious UPA-2. The story continued till next election.

The situation repeats now. Modi government is obviously refusing to do the same.

So we have the opportunity to kick him out in 2019 and get back the “spend now, pay later” policy again.

Party now. Why care about the future?

Let kids pay for our Karma.

Thanks giving sermon or new job application appeal by Manmohan Singh?

0

It looks like suddenly the former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh has woken up from his deep slumber and have stated to attack on Modi government. He utters that demonetization has destroyed our country and our economy is in shamble etc. From the point of view of his reputation of running the most corrupt government UPA 2 in India since independence, he is right in his statement. Indian economy would have been inside the Swiss bank account of several corrupt leaders if he were PM. When the exchequer is empty naturally all the bribe monies would have come to market to convert them as white, legitimate money.

Instead of getting into the merit of his statement, we the Indians must seek and search the intent of Manmohan Singh. One may be forced to assume that whether the present sermon of Manmohan Singh is a thanks giving gesture to the family for making him as ‘accidental PM’ or is he submitting a fresh job application thinking of 2019 election in mind.

The personal credentials of Dr Manmohan Singh is unquestionable. But that does not offer him immunity from calling him as ‘PM of the most corrupt government in India at least from perception end’.

The question is how a person of such stature i.e., ‘PM of the most corrupt government’ in India is so brave in criticizing the clean PM of India i.e., Narendra Modi, the leader of high level of integrity, honesty, dedication and true commitment to develop the country and achieve sab ka vikas.

In a sense, the then PM Manmohan Singh of the most corrupt government has openly admitted several omissions and commissions in his government and squirrely blamed the ‘coalition compulsion.

Manmohan Singh also deserves rich tributes for creating several ghost and shadow Prime Ministers in his government to take several decisions independently by neglecting PMO. It was also known that when he was also holding coal ministry, the Honourable court has cancelled the auction due to the smell of scams and prejudice.

Today ‘such’ great leader is giving public sermon. The intention of such sermon must be not to criticizing PM Modi but it is meant more for his job. He may be attempting to put-in his bio-data to the family in advance for the post of PM in 2019 if the party could win. The only way he can impress his boss is to attack Modi and that is what he is exactly doing.

We should not read too much into the statements of Manmohan Singh. By looking at the cluelessness of most of the opposition parties except attacking and abusing Modiji, Manmohan Singh may also be testing his fortune with the opposition parties if they could cobble up to form a disastrous government at centre 2019 where he may be considered as best suited PM as he would be willing to agree remain as a figurehead PM.

It is so bizarre to note that the PM of the most corrupt Government at the perception end – Dr Manmohan Singh is criticising Modi -the PM of the most efficient, able and incorruptible government.

It is so sad to note that how people can lower their stature for power. Indeed through the meaningless and untrue criticism, Manmohan Singh is trying to touch another milestone in his career i.e., from being PM of the most corrupt government (at perception level) to the PM of most divisive and destructive government (if opposition alliance of mutually opposing parties could cobble up a government).

Dr. Sahib, think of India and not about your post retirement job. India need a PM like Narendra Modi and let you be the first to bring a change in India by pleading your support openly to Modi to save India.

Dynasty and destruction has always gone together in India, let us save India

0

If we read the mythology of several countries, we can understand the truth about how the dynasties have destroyed own families and the country when the war was waged for power and wealth.  If we peep into the history we can easily find several fathers were being killed by own sons for power and kingdom.  The great dynasty in India with its last emperor and his hunger for Prime Minister-ship of the country and what the dynasty has done to the country we can find absolute similarity with the historical facts.

Greek mythology clearly shows that Uranus was killed by his son Cronos – the Titan.  The Cronus was later killed by his son Zeus and that is how the succession continued.  In Moghul dynasty also we can see son killing the father to become King.

The big doubt is that how the great dynasty of Nehru- Gandhi can be compared with the above?  The mythological facts should not be translated in physical sense and also should not be looked for perfect similarity.

If we want to compare the mythological facts of Uranus being killed by his son Cronos and he was then killed by his son Zeus, we must understand the meaning of the word ‘kill’ in total sense and not in mere lexical sense.

Cronos killed Uranus and Cronus was later killed by his son Zeus in Greek mythology but in India, all those dynasty kings starting from Nehru to Indira to Gandhi, have killed the development of India, killed the social order, killed caste and religious harmony and sowed the seeds of poverty, minority appeasement and politics of divisiveness to protect the dynast and family’s birth right to rule the country.

Only difference is that they killed the country and not the members of own clan.  Another big difference of the last emperor Rahul Gandhi over Nehru, Indira and Rajiv is that the last emperor is less cruel to India than to Congress.

The last emperor is quite sportive and humorous therefore whatever he speaks become a big joke and an entertainment. Further he is rightfully killing the party by making all unwarranted, unnecessary, ignorant and unverified comments and statements against Narendra Modi.

The speed at which he is destroying the congress, people of India must be scared of him and his capability to destroy the country if he is made as Prime Minister of India.

If we want to establish the statistical significance of whether Nehru or Indira or Rajiv who had destroyed India better, it would be impossible to credit anyone over the other as all of them may score same grade and rank.

It will not be an exaggeration; the sum of destruction of World War 1 and 2 may level less before the quantum of destruction the dynasty has done to our country due to malgovernance, corruption, petty and divisive politics, nepotism, minority appeasement etc.

In the last 4 years India has marched ahead and reached way ahead over several nations in development and sab ka vikas. PM Modi has achieved several herculean fetes in the last 4 years. If we compare the achievement of Modi over the long rule of the dynasty since independence, every Indian must bury their head in shame as India has been taken several centuries backward by the dynasty.

India need Karyakarta (कार्यकर्ता’), Kar Sevak (कारसेवक) and swayamsevak (स्वयंसेवक) to develop the country and not minority appeasers to ruin our country.  2019 is all about save India versus destroy India and certainly Modiji represent the former agenda.

Dissolution of the Telangana assembly: An unwarranted move

0

Dissolution of Telangana State Assembly by the C.M.-KCR is an unwarranted, futile exercise. Chandra Sekhar Rao in his wisdom might have thought in the bigger battle of Parliament Elections-2019, there are chances for national parties like the BJP and the Congress gaining support as the voters’ mood would be concentrated on their (the national parties) performance at the Centre and in the state.

When KCR was enjoying the full majority in the assembly and somehow won the confidence of people (according to him) by giving sops to different sections of people, why this hurry? People elect MLAs for a 5-year rule, unless otherwise they lose the trust of the House. To bring the term whimsically to an end only to gain votes and seats is in a way sabotaging the Constitutional provision of ‘Dissolution of the House’ that is granted to the state C.M.

Telangana is supposed to have elections along with the parliament elections in April or June 2019 as per the formation of the state being in June-2014.  KCR has been an votary of ‘one nation, one poll’ for a long time. This haste of advancing elections now, for political expediency would not go down well with the people. It does not augur well for a democracy. When the period of this assembly ends with that of the parliament in 2019, simultaneous elections is a better option and would not be a burden on the country’s exchequer.

Now the care-taker government of the TRS (Telangana Rastra Samithi) is a toothless tiger with no decision-making authority. The mandate of 9-months (advanced ones) are actually mandated to rule, which the party has lost. Now, the other parties may raise their heads and voice to demean TRS for its performance, among them Prof Kodandaram’s (orchestrator of Telangana state with his strategical moves) a new formation (TJS) is raising pertinent questions and finding fault with many of TRS-government policies. Even the state government employees whose pay revision is due are asking for interim relief and are agitating. They were all livid with TRS as it (the relief) was not declared before dissolution.

Moreover, TRS is a friend of AIMIM and has done much of appeasing of Muslim minorities in the state— a la’ Mamatha kind of politics in Bengal. It is time to highlight all those ill-practices. It’s not time for the BJP to make a bonhomie with the TRS for 2019- Central government formation. For, TRS is an opportunistic party and a turncoat. So, in the changing political equations, calculated steps are needed.  KT Rama Rao (KTR), the MLA- son of KCR and Kavitha, the-M.P. daughter of KCR are two big assets and weapons in the armoury of KCR. His nephew Harish Rao is also an equally capable leader.

All said and done, it is very difficult to break this formidable force of talented leaders. In apposition the BJP, should quite capably bring-in the new faces- new talents- new innovative schemes- into the fore in public in the Telangana state. Cine actor of repute could also fill the vacuum as South is known for its vanity industry coming to political field.

It is time for the BJP to grab the opportunity that has come in advance to establish their goals and credibility in the state by chalking out an effective plan instead of allowing the Congress, their opponent, to get the space for the dissenting voice. In a democracy there is place for independent parties to develop on their own rather than by piggybacking on regional parties.

How my housewife friend defended her beliefs on cow slaughter in the US

0

There is an echo here in the placid towns of America – an echo from the nationalist fervor gripping the homeland, – an echo that has sprouted new organizations, stirred the pots of older ones, and brought the tricolor to our lives along with its lustrous aura. Hence, old diaspora networks enabled by the country club coterie of lawyers, businessmen, doctors and other money bags have had to co-opt the rebels. And like the good old dynasty, they are not all happy.

Hence one fine day, in one beautiful city, a stylish lady interrupted the meeting of nationalistic Indians, with questions on cow slaughter. It’s a question Hindus feel strongly about, but generally are unable to offer an explanation. Someone responded that the cow was like a mother figure, and killing animals is not healthy. Another said that it was a belief that is part of our DNA and enshrined in the constitution.

Chhaya, the lady in question, was well known and well connected to the levers of power in the diaspora and knew many of its movers and shakers. She also had connections with the media, and had been involved with a few charitable organizations. The professional Indians, intimidated by her popularity among the VIP’s, were defensive and their explanation was vague and not enough to deter her aggressive stance as she kept hammering them with questions.

Questions such as – why only the cow is sacred but other animals were not? Why other animals can be eaten, but not the cow? She was belligerent, and as usual the professionals did not want to be blacklisted as agents of Hindutva and discreetly made their exit.

Then one woman sitting quietly at the back spoke. She introduced herself as Nilima. “I am a housewife,” she said, “and would like to say something.” Nobody had noticed the silent woman clad in a simple sari. While all the educated and the well-dressed flaunted their glowing credentials, the quiet lady sat by herself. She did not seem to have the looks or the affluence of the glib talkers. Nobody talked to her. Yet, when the time came, she spoke up clearly defending the cow abandoned by the educated strawmen, the pompous intellectuals and by members of the “cool and the connected.”

“I have an American friend, Jennie,” began Nilima. “She has a dog which she loves more than life itself. The dog loves her too. One time, Jennie talked about cows and why they are not allowed to be killed in India. Then I asked her if Americans would ever kill their dogs. She was horrified.”

“No way,” she said, “It is part of our family.” I then explained, “Cows are the same to the Indian family especially in rural areas. They provide fuel and milk which is used to sustain the family and also provide income – a golden goose for the community. In addition to their economic utility, they embody the timeless symbol of piety, and selflessness.”

Jennie mentioned that she had never heard that explanation before, and it all makes sense now.

“When Americans would never stoop to kill their domesticated dogs, why should Hindus stoop to kill the docile, domesticated cow?“ asked Nilima. After a pause, she asked Chhaya, “Would you question an American about killing a dog with the same ferocity that you use with your own countrymen regarding killing a cow? And if you do, can you imagine how he would react.?

For a moment, Chhaya had no answer. In the meantime, other Indians suddenly found their voices and buoyed by the spirit of the no-nonsense, simple, sari-clad lady, they responded angrily and raised a furor. Chhaya left the room in a huff, angry and upset.

As soon as Chhaya left, there were recriminations from the cautious, fence-sitting apostles of “freedom of expression”. “It is not fair to Chhaya,” they cried. We should have convinced her instead of arguing and drowning all logic.” But the new spirit roused by a simple lady with giant convictions took hold and several voices spoke up against the nerdish grumblers. They rallied against the values embodied by the likes of Chhaya – chic desi appearance armed with a two-faced universality, consistently batting for a Dynasty with a forked tongue.

Had the quiet housewife not spoken up, it would have been more of the same story. The grip of the old Boys network, the timid professionals avoiding the culture enthusiasts, and the anything-but-Hindu gunslinger going ballistic would have set the stage for a re-run of the past 70 years.

Fortunately, those days are gone. The tide has turned. A nation scarred by skewed History has woken up to tap into its deep, historical reservoirs of wisdom, retrieve a wealth of answers, and enable a resurgent Nationalist narrative.

Modi’s Rajiv Gandhi moment? Are we headed towards another VP Singh era?

0

Till now, I considered Rajiv Gandhi as the worst of all the Prime Ministers, and why not! He is the father of communal politics in India. His majority government in 1986 overturned the Shah Bano verdict of Supreme Court for Muslim vote bank.

But the aftermath of this seemingly ordinary decision of Rajiv government changed the politics forever. To overcome the growing resentment among Hindus and accusations of Muslim appeasement after his decision, he opened the gates of temple (sealed by courts) in Ayodhya with a countrywide live telecast on Doordarshan, thus giving a huge boost to VHP’s Ram Mandir movement. This issue was then taken up by the BJP, consolidating Hindu votes, and the party’s tally in Lok Sabha reached to 86 seats in 1989 from mere 2 seats in 1984. Temple issue became mainstream in Indian politics.

Those were turbulent times with electorate politically divided among Hindus and Muslims. Then, the father of communal politics, Mr. Gandhi, lost election in 1989 and made way for the father of caste politics in India, Mr. VP Singh.

Now it was Mr. VP Singh’s turn to further divide the society and consolidate his vote bank, which he called “the backwards”. With nothing to show for governance, he hurriedly implemented the Mandal Commission recommendations of 27% reservations creating a further divide.

Once things were set in motion by Mr. Gandhi and Mr. Singh, the Advanis and the Lalus, the Mulayams, the Mayawatis took over from there. Babri Masjid demolition and thereafter communal riots followed, creating a permanent communal divide. On the hand, casteist socialists started consolidating their caste based vote banks and went on to build the biggest political dynasties, taking cue from Nehru-Gandhi dynasty.

We cannot truly assess how much damage these events (plain vote bank politics under the garb of secularism and social justice) have inflicted upon our nation. For comparison (it is not that fair and simple), but in 1980s Indian and Chinese economy were more or less equal in terms of GDP, after 3 decades China is way far ahead of us.

Believe it or not, today India stands at similar crossroads. The Supreme Court after careful consideration of SC/ST atrocity act, an act with conviction rate of 27% (way less than conviction rate in other IPC crimes), made some changes regarding immediate arrest of accused without any prior investigation, citing misuse of the law to harass innocent. And this is what natural justice demands. Everyone must have heard the line “100 culprits may let go free but no innocent should be punished”.

It was for the Supreme Court to judge. But bowing down to pressure from various groups of “angry” SC/ST community and fear of losses in upcoming elections, Mr. Narendra Modi’s government did exactly what Rajiv Gandhi did in Shah Bano case. At least Rajiv Gandhi waited for a year or so and actually lost some by-poll elections before overturning the SC decision after intense debates and discussions in the parliament. Mr. Modi, on the other hand meekly surrendered to the protests and as well as in both houses of parliament with all the political parties on board (nobody wants to lose vote bank).

There was no debate or discussion on the bill bought by Mr. Modi and was passed hurriedly by both the houses of parliament without any objection (on the contrary, everyone was applauding). And thus overturning the Supreme Court’s order.

This act of Modi government has created another divide among the people on caste lines. Few groups from general category and OBCs, some of whom were loyal vote bank of BJP since Ram Mandir movement are in open rebellion now (at least in Madhya Pradesh, it was evident from the September 6 protests). Some anti-reservation groups have also joined in the protest.

Till now they don’t have any political patronage. Maybe new leaders will up from the group itself. These groups have the money, position and the numbers to affect the elections. Lets see how long Mr. Modi follows Rajiv Gandhi’s style of appeasement politics. I think, maybe he will lose the upcoming election in 2019 and make way for the opportunists, casteists, socialists, dynastic leaders i.e. the so called mahagathbandhan formed under the garb of saving the democracy, the idea of India or whatever, while it is just to prevent their political extinction.

One of the agenda of these socialists is extending reservation in private sector. Let us hope VP Singh’s era is not repeated all over again because that would be disastrous for the nation already reeling under economic stress. A chain of events have been set in motion by Modi government with the overturning of the SC decision. Lets see where it takes us now and remember what happened when it was overturned last time.

Why Narendra Modi for 2019

Narendra Modi, like a swan that gracefully moves on a lake, is a picture of elegance in motion but what is hidden from the eye is the huge big activity going on beneath the water’s surface. The swan’s seemingly easy movement is an ideal metaphor for PM Modi’s tireless hard work, seemingly effortless, for the betterment of India. Genius makes the hard work look ridiculously easy, thus giving the impression that it is effortless.

There are many many more such achievements. For India to prosper, it needs to be developed and that is exactly what the Prime Minister is focussing on ever since he took the oath in 2014. The Congress is left with only four states. This number could go down further as their leader is a part time politician who leaves his karyakartas when they need him the most, in times when the party is going through its worst crisis post Independence. His random inane jibes, sound bites are ludicrous and don’t help his cause in any way. The ecosystem which his family nurtured over decades is trying hard to prop him up as reformed/transformed leader but the people are not impressed. Because in the history of Independent India, for the first time we have a Prime Minister who works relentlessly, 24*7. When he visits foreign countries, he’s not on vacation trips but for strengthening of ties with those countries. His devotion to the nation is unquestionable and so is his intent. His four and a half year journey however, must be the toughest for any Prime Minister. The hatred he faced is unprecedented. After the ignominious defeat in general elections, every dirty trick was used by the CONs with the help of their pseudo liberal lobby to tarnish his image and demean him. Eventually, they failed in their attempts and got thoroughly exposed. Undeterred by these vicious campaigns against him, he continued with his development work to bring about change in the lives of the poorest of the poor.

The Gandhis’ only agenda in the last sixty years was minority appeasement and amassing of wealth for themselves. The Messiah’s of the “garib” did nothing for the upliftment of the poor. 2014 happened because of this as people had seen through their deceit and treachery. As we approach 2019, people should be firm in their conviction and belief in Narendra Modi. They should realise that it is unrealistic to expect the cleansing of the rot in the system in five years, especially because of the hostile judiciary, compromised Media bureaucracy. Change WILL happen but there’ll be hardships on the way and we should be willing to endure them. All those who are feeling disgruntled, especially the middle class, it’s imperative that they don’t fall for the fake propaganda by the naysayers.

Hope is a promise, every politician has tried selling his voter. But Modi with his set of changes, truly makes that HOPE come alive again. And for that every Indian must back him to the hilt in 2019 and beyond. The truth is right in front of us..bare. It’s upto us to decide where we want to go from here – forward or backwards!!

Choice is yours.

Will SC/ST Act derail the Modi Juggernaut?

0

Justice Goyal in his judgement in March 2018 put justified restrictions on the imminent arrest without investigation in cases under the Prevention of Atrocities Act or the SC/ST Act. It was a signal to the malcontents to stir the fires of Caste conflict in India. SC has introduced Protective Provisions through its judgement giving provision of Anticipatory Bail under Sec 438 IPC and restraint on filing a case without preliminary investigation.

A very balanced judgement was demonised by the media, politicians of all hues and sundry Civil Rights activists as they are called. Dalit Members Of Parliament across party lines mounted pressure on their parties to over ride the Protective Provisions introduced by the judgement of Justice Goyal passed on March 20, 2018.

Surprisingly, the political parties which do not see eye to eye on any matter of social or national importance came together to pass the Amendments to restore what the SC/ST Act said originally, in contravention of all norms of Natural Justice and the Fundamental Rights.

Natural Justice is the basis of all tenants of justice system in a democracy at least. The original Act as well as the restored Provisions are ultra vires the basic ‘rule against bias’ or nemo iudex in causa sua and ‘right to fair hearing’ or audi alteram partem!

If the accused’s most Fundamental Right To Equality is abused through a legislation which being improved upon by the SC is overturned by the Legislature to pander for votes in name of preventing atrocities doesn’t augur well for a democracy.

Justice Goyal was declared a villain of piece and decried by politicians in the august Houses of Parliament. It’s a new low in the Parliamentary politics of India where a fair judgement was denigrated to help the furtherance of certain kind of politics.

Dalits, Ambedkarites, Leftists and so called Civil Rights activists colluded to call a Nation wide Bandh on April 02, 2018, the Bandh was unprecedented in its magnitude which was evidence enough of a concerted effort by a well entrenched machinery behind the Bandh, the protagonists of the Bandh resorted to unprovoked violence against the Common Man. The resultant loss of property, both public as well as private was huge. The govt shied away from its duty to protect the lives and the property of its citizens from the anti social elements among the Bandh supporters.
Numerous lives were lost, properties burned down, trains stooped and delayed indefinitely, buses burned, establishments attacked, even Police Stations were attacked in parts of Rajasthan, MP and Punjab by the Dalits.

The impressive mobilisation by the votaries of SC/ST Act as well as the opposition of Dalit MPs in Parliament forced the govt to issue statements to the effect of over riding the SC judgement. It went out of its way to assure and assuage the Dalits that Provisions of the Act shall remain inviolable and the govt will bring an Ordinance if required.
The govt introduced the amendments in the LokSabha on 06 August which was passed unanimously and later passed in RajyaSabha too. Unfortunately, BJP resorted to same Votebank politics which it accused Rajiv Gandhi in the ShahBano Case. The amazing co incidence of unanimity in both the Houses didn’t come as surprise to the political watchers but the rest of the population which is affected by the Provisions of the Act, definitely was. The Upper Caste as well as the OBCs forming more than 70% of the population was highly disappointed and a backlash is on the expected lines.

Whereas, the Dalit Bandh was a result of a well planned, well oiled machinery at work, the counter Bharat Nandh On 06 September 2018 is largely spontaneous. It the nature of this latest Bandh which has the Think Tanks at the BJP Headquarters worried about a possible backlash in the coming Assembly polls in Rajasthan, MP and Chhattisgarh. The protests in MP are already national news with the elected representatives of both BJP and Congress avoiding going out in public. The fact that the MLAs and the MPs are scared to attend public functions is glaring.

The Counter mobilisation by the Upper Caste and the OBCs in the poll bound States is alarming, it has the potential to derail the Modi Bandwagon which shows no signs of abating.

The pure mathematics is enough put a spoke in the Election Rath of Narendra Modi. The protests in MP and now Rajasthan are signs of things to come. The dominant Upper Castes are aligning themselves with the numerically superior OBCs to upset the applecart. Muslims surprisingly are quiet but it’s nobody’s guess where they vote!

Muslims are presently behind the Dalits as new experiment of JaiBhim-JaiMeem unfolds. But, if Upper Castes and OBCs turn away from BJP, Muslims will flock their way to the party which is in a position to defeat the BJP. The equation worsens if Dalits remain circumspect even after the Amendments and do not show their gratitude towards the BJP in form of Votes. Not only does it have the ability to change the govts in the States of Rajasthan, MP and Chhattisgarh but can certainly derail the Modi Juggernaut in 2019.

The fear of Modi combining the elections Assembly with Parliament has the potential to negate the effect but if too much time is allowed to pass between the elections and the protests keep raging there’s a distinct possibility of Upper Castes as well as OBCs getting withdrawn into a non commital position of NOTA or worse change sides.

Australian security and risk management company Ava Risk Group announced today that a data network security solution developed by its Technology Division has been selected to protect one of the world’s largest closed user group data networks for the exclusive use of more than one million military personnel.

The company has been picked up by the Indian Ministry of Defence along with it’s Indian manufacturing partner SFO Technologies Pvt Ltd under a cybersecurity deal to protect major military data networks potentially worth up to approximately 80 crores.

The MoD has issued a Letter of Intent(LoI) to manufacture FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) network security technology under licence, to Ava Group’s in-country manufacturing partner, SFO which will take on all of the manufacturing costs, associated working capital and delivery risk under the contract.

The issued letter of intent has estimated that SFO will receive the formal purchase order by the end of this month.

Ava chief executive officer Chris Fergus said “With cybersecurity breaches a seemingly daily occurrence, we are presented with a significant opportunity to expand the application of our intrusion detection technology to the protection of sensitive data network cables”.

Ava chairman David Cronin also commented saying “Government, military and commercial end users are increasingly becoming aware of the potential for illegal tapping, and physical disruption, of their sensitive data. With an increasing suite of products and risk management services, Ava is at the forefront of this large and growing market segment. This deployment is an important milestone for the Company, showing a clear return for shareholders on the investment we have made in increasing our geographic and market segment reach”.

The MoD deal is expected to further strengthen the security of Indian military networks.
