Delhi crime & the brutalization of a society

0

I admire Nandini Bahri-Dhanda for many attributes, the foremost amongst which is her ability to write with great felicity about matters she holds dear. More than 25000 followers on Twitter are not there just for getting a glimpse of a Greta Garbo look-alike, but for the brilliant use she makes of her literary talents to speak her mind with exactitude and complete honesty. The other quality I admire in her is her courage. Her article opens with “It took some deliberation to decide whether to watch Delhi Crime on Netflix, or not.” I think what she meant was that it took some “courage” to make this decision. I, for one, must admit that I do not possess this courage to revisit the horror of that event that shook the common citizens of this nation from their roots, and have, therefore, not even thought of watching Delhi Crime. Instead, I went back to what I wrote after watching Poorna Jagannathan’s production of Yael Farber’s play “Nirbhaya’s Story” at the NCPA, Mumbai, in March 2014. Here it is:

Nirbhaya’s Story – The Brutalization of a Society

“Die Verrohung des Franz Blum (The Brutalization of Franz Blum) is a 1974 German film directed by Reinhard Hauff, and based on a novel written by Burkhard Driest. It tells the story of a young, carefree Franz, born into a well-off family, who falls in bad company and ends up taking part in a bank robbery. He is arrested by the police and sent to prison for six years. In jail he quickly realizes that in order to survive in a world he does not understand, where brute force and ignorance are more important than anything else, he will need to fight back and become as brutal and evil as his co-prisoners; as also the guards and the wardens. Gradually, Franz Blum becomes one of the most influential of the prisoners and the lord of his own gang. Much like William Golding’s The Lord of the Flies, the film describes how rapidly a society can descend from innocence and decency to utter depravity and inhuman brutality.

Brutalization of society and individuals is a subject as old as the hills and in any history of the world we will find that it is the brutes that have dominated its pages, while the reconcilers are few and far between. India, perhaps, could have been an exception in the sense that she has produced many more reconcilers in her long history than has been the case with other nations. A long list would begin with the Buddha, followed by Mahavira, Asoka, Guru Nanak and the other Sikh Gurus (notably Guru Tegh Bahadur and Guru Gobind Singh) and perhaps end with Mahatma Gandhi. However, notwithstanding the interregnums of reconciliation ushered in by these great souls, the history of India is drenched in rivers of blood that precipitated into a flood in the Partition of 1947.

“On December 16th, 2012, a young, innocent girl, learning to become a physiotherapist, someone who would one day help heal damaged human bodies, became one more victim of a senselessly inhuman and horribly depraved, brutal crime. Defying description, using the word ‘rape’ for it would be too mild. When the details of this horrible crime emerged, there was a spontaneous reaction from the common people, first in Delhi, and then across the country, showing their solidarity with the victim and demanding immediate and resolute action from the government. That this could happen to a woman in Delhi, a Union Territory having a three-times-running woman Chief Minister, whose party President also happens to be a woman, magnified the hideousness of the crime.

An outpouring of grief and utter helplessness of this scale had perhaps not been seen before in this country. The authorities, especially the Police, responded in the only predictable way they would – with tear gas and water cannons to disperse the peaceful and unarmed protestors. Meanwhile, the administration, knowing that the poor girl was beyond saving, flew her out of the country, thereby hoping to save face and not have her die on their hands. It further compounded its folly by another act of extreme cowardice when, thirteen days later, the dead body of the girl was brought back surreptitiously and cremated almost immediately on arrival in the wee hours of the morning.

The fact that the perpetrators were quickly caught and tried in a fast court that awarded extreme punishment to them may have given some sense of closure to the girl’s family, but has done little to reduce the incidents of criminal acts against women. One would think that the 24/7 exposure by the media would bring so much revulsion in the minds of men that they would at least pause and think before they contemplated an act of violence against a woman, but there seems to be no let up and hardly a day passes without an act of brutality being reported against a woman.

Nirbhaya’s story has now become the subject of mainstream theatre and dance. Yael Farber and Poorna Jagannathan’s production that premiered at the Edinburgh festival last year, and has been drawing packed houses wherever staged, has come to Mumbai, and I went to see it on the 19th of March at the NCPA. Apart from the re-enactment of the horrible events of that December night in Delhi, the play narrates the personal stories of five women who have suffered inhuman abuse at the hands of their family and strangers. The anguish and trauma of the performers, based on their personal experiences brings home, as never before, the immediacy of this huge social problem.

Writing in The Telegraph, Laura Barnett says: “This is consciousness-raising theatre of the old school, emphasizing the fact that Pandey’s suffering has lifted the veil of silence regarding women in India and beyond. As one performer says: ‘we can be silent no more.’ That is reason enough to see this urgent, compelling show.”

“This piece is not another critical appraisal of the play or the performers. The play does not ask for evaluation of its script, production craft, style, acting, or the other attributes of theatre; these questions seem irrelevant and irreverent. Rather, it is about the brutalization of our society and its acceptance as part of the price of living. It is about that moment in life that forces one to look upon oneself as human and demands that one must take some kind of action; otherwise one can read the newspapers and congratulate oneself on one’s good fortune. It is about each one of us asking what we can do to humanize society once again. It is about not walking away or driving with our eyes averted whenever we come across an act of violence at home or in the streets, but to confront the evil as fearlessly as we can, and providing help and succor to the victims. We may not be able to prevent similar tragedies from happening but timely intervention with firm intent may help them from spiraling out of control and contain the violence.

“Performances like the one I saw are important in their own way, but their reach is limited in terms of the language and the target audience. Nirbhaya, the Play, needs to be performed in local languages and dialects and made to travel across the country, and staged in small towns and villages. Social groups, NGOs, and donations from people can fund the costs of this national enterprise, even if the government is unwilling to do so. Yale Farber and the cast of the play have lit the first candle. We must help them in keeping the flame alive!”

In March 2015 BBC released a documentary “India’s Daughter” on Nirbhaya’s story. Leslee Udwin, the filmmaker, claimed to be a victim of sexual abuse, and wanted to narrate the ordeal, but the production team violated too many of the undertakings they had given for being allowed to make the film. BBC is known for its anti-India bias and it was no wonder that the film revisited its pet prejudices against our society. Consequently, the film was banned in India and many attempts to lift the ban have not succeeded.

In my next post I will elaborate upon this sordid episode in our recent history.

Why Narendra Modi is Winning 2019

0

The 2019 Lok Sabha elections are here. There is nothing more important for any Indian than to think and choose their leader who will take the country on the right path. This is extremely important for a vibrant nation to vote wisely and continue the efforts that have been made in the last five years and to expedite the development which has just started. Now, I could start listing out the gigantic efforts that have been taken in the last five years but stating the obvious proves to be mundane for the enlightened ones.

So let me take you to an unchartered territory which makes one think about possible effect of the Opposition coming around in 2019 as one team and its effect on the election results.

As almost all Opposition political leaders, Opposition media, Opposition intellectuals, Opposition film makers and Opposition sportspersons (to those who are wondering, yes, we have these categories in India—sad but true) most fiercely confirm that ‘MODI KO HARANA HAI TO GATHBANDHAN JARURI HAI’ this only means that Mr. Modi is the most popular political leader and there is no one who can match his popularity in the country. The fear of Modi in opposition heart is so deep that even a Biopic on Modi in election season is making them shiver. An address to Nation for the country’s space achievement is making them so nervous that they are reaching out to Election Commission to complain.

Anyway, let us leave the Opposition leaders with their nervousness for the time being and think about the voters’ affinity with Mr Modi and the charisma that he offers, the promise for delivery, the commitment to honesty and how this will affect the elections results.

As you all know that all opposition leaders went into the huddle and decided to let go of their enmity and join together if they have to fight Mr. Modi in the coming elections. All optics of the Maha-Gathbandhan were sold out to the masses with hand holding and staged pictures. However, the reality comes not as a surprise that virtually NO Gath-Bandhan has materialized anywhere except coming together of 5 MPs of SP and Zero MPs of BSP in Uttar Pradesh. As Opposition Media was waiting for any alliance news to surface from somewhere, this Gath-Bandhan was immediately touted as the next big thing. The assumptions were to the extent that Gathbandhan will single handedly bring down the BJP Government in 2019.

Being a native of Uttar Pradesh and having discussed with many prospective voters, it is concluded that such unholy and opportunistic alliance will not make any difference to the election results. The calculation done by the caste based leaders in their palatial bungalows and media studios are absolutely wrong. The most pleasing aspect of this information is the awareness among the voters and the intent to select the honest and effective leader than to simply go to the booth and select the candidate from your own caste or religion.

In 2019, with 500 million smart phone users, with access to information and a disgustingly abysmal performance record of previous government from the leaders of their caste/religion based parties, these voters have now arrived at the political maturity when they decide their vote holds a greater importance.

The voters will not vote simply because the candidate is from their caste or their religion and will choose the right candidate for the village or for the city they live in or simply will re-affirm his or her faith in Mr Modi. If this faith is to be countered by some Opposition Media expert, he or she can be only defaming the democracy or insulting the people by still insisting that people will not vote for the candidate of merit and still choose their caste over their development.

People are getting mature in the manner that they vote and realizing the gravity of choosing the right leader. You can already witness the majority single party government in all states in recent elections. Similarly the people will vote for a clear majority in 2019 and at this time, it can only be NDA Alliance under the leadership of Mr. Modi.

Day in the life of a Sanatani: “Khush Raho”

0

After a long and tedious eighteen hour flight I landed in my hometown; my uncle and aunt were waiting for me outside the airport. I was coming home after two long years. I bent and touched their feet. They touched my head and uttered “Khush Raho”. Loosely translated it means “Stay Happy”. The stress of work, life and the long flight was gone. I felt positive energy emanating from me and encompasing me. All seemed good in life and world.

My parents were tied up at home and could not come to the airport. On reaching home, I bent and touched their feet. They touched my head and uttered “Khush Raho”.

As kids we were taught to touch elders‘ feet and ask for blessings. Whenever we traveled to relatives‘ places or when relatives came to our place, it was imperative that we touch their feet if they were our elder and utter a respectful “Pranam”. We did the same on our birthdays or special occasions like Holi, Diwali, Saraswati Puja and the many special celebrations we were part of. Salutations were offered regularly to elders, teachers, SwamiJi, PanditJi; essentially everyone elder to us– in age or stature.

We did this very often and the blessing we got most commonly from my elders was‚ ‘Khush Raho‘. Under the heavy influence of the sophisticated vocablury of the popular television serials like Ramayan, Mahabharat and other shows, I had wanted to hear fancy blessings like “Ayashman Bhava”, “Bhagyawan Raho”,”Saubhagyawati Raho” and so on. But never once did anyone say anything other than “Khush raho” to me. Small town people of my home state are rather simple folk, not used to fancy expressions as one heard on television in the magna opi of the time.

Now many years later, traversing through the vicissitudes of life, I am aware and appreciative of the beauty and purport of the simple blessing I receive all the time. We all know that staying happy and content is one of the hardest things to do.

Our ancestors knew what the important things in life were. We might not have enough time to learn about the source and inspiration of their realizations. However, what they did for our benefit was to device everyday rituals, mannerisms and instructions to make our life meaningful and blissful.

When we touch someone’s feet, we let go our ego. The person whose feet we touch normally stretch their hands and touch the upper head of person touching their feet. This connection forms another circuit transferring energy and blessings.

Simple mundane things like these make one realise the depth of knowledge held by our ancestors and constructed in simple everyday customs for our well-being. Every custom has a deeper meaning. Are we always congnizant of it? Certainly not, but does our ignorance make it meaningless and purposeless? When we subject our customs to judgement and ridicule without having an understanding of it, we are doing a great disservice to our ancestors.

Friends of mine from the Indian state of Punjab tell me that the blessing they got most commonly is “Jeete Raho”; loosely translated meaning “Have a long life”. On the north west border of India attacks from Central and West Asians tribes were common. Men were fighters and soldiers. The general populace was also often endangered. For them to stay alive was the greatest blessing at the time.

With the challenges of everyday life, do we have time and mental capital to unlock and decipher the rationale behind every single ritual built into our daily life? Eventually we have to come up with a trade off- reap the rewards of thousand years of profound knowledge or spend our precious resources questioning everything.

I, for once and forever, choose to surrender to the sagacity of our saints for they were the ones who knew that there is no higher blessing than being alive and “Khush“.

Woman and the world

0

The population of women in the world at the time when this is being written, is 3811282000, 49.6% of the total human population of 7690360000. It shows a clear discrimination against women for in many parts of the world a good number of female children are not allowed to live and they are killed in the wombs of their mothers. On account of these practices there is a drastic imbalance in sex ratio in many countries of the world. Thankfully in many countries the female population is more than men which balances the overall world population and makes it near 50:50.

Having said so, still 21st is the century of women; it is the century of women enlightenment, their growth, their liberalization, their modernization, their progress and prosperity. Women started moving up the ladder of social, political, administrative, economic and financial areas of life in the last century and their forward moment continues today and by the end of the century, if the trend continues, women might have taken over men in all the areas of life.

Good news literally, when the discriminated sex of ages and epochs rises up towards progress, prosperity and development it is really good news. Nevertheless, is that good news still when men seem lagging behind? If lagging behind of women is bad news and discriminatory why the same yardstick should not be used for men? When we are searching and working for equality is not lagging behind of men going to be inequality and inequity? How these questions can be answered?

True these questions are genuine and it is imperative that they should be replied before moving ahead. Let’s take the first one, the women didn’t lag behind on their own they, in fact, were made to lag behind forcibly and discriminatorily. Men were the main culprits, if not the only culprits, in making the conditions such where forward, and equal forward movement as that of men, was not possible.

All the hurdles, and worst kind of hurdles, were placed in the way of the woman and she was prevented to show her real worth, power, strength and value. Contrarily, if men are going to lag behind, as they have started doing so in many areas of life, it would be because of their fault, not because of any force or discrimination from women, and there would be no adverse role of women towards that end. This makes moving ahead of women good news anyway for no discrimination or exploitation against is committed.

To the second question it can be stated that yardsticks have not been changed, whichever yardstick we use we come to the conclusion that the progress, development and modernization of women is well deserved by them. Men, if they end up lagging behind will be due to their own complicity. Many men are taught from the outset that they are superior to women in all the faculties and capabilities but once fair play and a similar kind of stage alongwith the same conditions of competition are provided to women the men get outsmarted and end up as the losers thereby becoming the victims of their pride and false ego.

Subsequently the third question can be replied that eventual triumph of women would not be inequality but it will be placing each person at his or her perfect deserving place. The conditions of competition and the rules of the game of life, and diverse areas of life, would still be based on equality and the resultant triumph and victory of women would be the outcome of that equality. In any case, and every case, women would no way be responsible for the fate of the men, or poor fate of men. That makes the poorer state of men, which is a possibility, different from that of women which the women have remained in since the outset and continues to live that way today in many party and pockets of the world.

Another way why the betterment of women, and their taking up of the leadership roles, could be good news as it might make the world a better and peaceful place to live. Men have made the world a miserable and unsustainable place to live. They have fought wars and created violence and wars and violence continue even today. If we call the human history the history of wars it would not be an over or understatement. So much of misery and hardships, death and destruction and losses to property have been caused due to these wars. Men have so far not been able to find a way out from the wars and the violence and instead they are turning out to be the accomplices and active participants in these abnormal acts of human history which have been normalized by men mostly.

It is time to transfer the leadership of the world to women, they may end the violence and wars, and they are the new hopes. Their participation in administration and posts of power has proved them as able administrators and governors. There is no area or field where women have not proved their abilities and capabilities. By no way women are less performing or underperforming than men. They are less corrupt than many men, and are more thoughtful of the generations next. Peace is their attitude and they love, live, aspire and build peace in the world.

One example that can be given is that of the New Zealand Prime Minister, women, who behaved in such an outstanding manner after the Christchurch Terrorist Attack that many men leaders put together could not match her. She has shown the way which might not have been the case had the Prime Minister was a man. When disunity and violence was expected she acted in a way which increased the unity of her country and built more peace, really commendable.

At the end, 21st Century is the century of women empowerment. No doubt there are grave issues, and grave issues, of poverty, discrimination, exploitation and female feticide which make the life and well being of women susceptible and vulnerable. But once the women are on the right road and their movement is well directed they are never going to stop. They are capable of changing the destiny of the world and they will do so, it is hoped.

Can Jet Airways be revived soon?

0

Jet Airways (Jet) has been restructured. Naresh Goyal, the founder chairman has resigned. He and his wife have stepped down from the board. Lenders to the beleaguered carrier will now take over the management and board until it finds a new strategic investor. Meanwhile, lenders will provide a further Rs. 1500 crores as loan to stabilize its operations as an ongoing concern.

The move has multiple goals—saving ‘Brand India’ from the taint of a bankruptcy, saving serious inconveniences for passengers, and avoiding the impact of a business collapse on the economy. The other significant goal is that what has happened in the case of Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Ltd (IL&FS) does not play out in the case of Jet.

The problem with Jet, as Rajnish Kumar, Chairman, SBI pointed out in an interview to The Economic Times, is that an airline essentially has very few assets that can be sold easily. The only assets are the brand name, a few planes that may be owned (but which may have loans pending against them), some landing slots at airports, and a frequent flyer program whose value may depreciate if the airline does not regain its market share fast. Therefore, whoever takes over Jet will not take over the entire debt. This means banks will take a steep haircut, maybe even as high as 50 per cent.

There are only three categories of buyers for Jet – a foreign airline that wants to control domestic routes to feed international traffic, and is willing to do this with a 49 per cent stake (max. permissible under the current regulations); a domestic business house that is willing to invest in Jet and make it viable through high equity infusions, and an existing domestic airline that is willing to undertake a difficult merger.

Jet plans to restart about 50 flights by end of this month and add 40 grounded planes by end of April. It is currently operating 35 aircraft and may take this number to 75 by April-end, if it is able to persuade the lessors to allow them to fly the planes again. This would be about 75% of their capacity, since Jet had a fleet of 119 aircraft before lessors started taking back the aircraft but government officials say that 103 of them were operational.

Its senior officials, including CEO Vinay Dube and CFO Amit Agarwal, attended the meeting called by the aviation secretary on Tuesday and shared plans on reviving operations. There are about 15 heads, where the airline has dues and they have to decide on the payment according to priority. However, Airport Authority has no dues against Jet Airways, as they are flying less.

The central government and the lenders hope that with adequate funding and 75% capacity utilization, if achieved by April end, Jet would regain lost value and attract good price minimizing the haircut.

HDK is trying to be Mamata of Karnataka, but Karnataka is not Bengal

0

On 28th March 2019, IT department conducted raids on some contractors, PWD engineers, businessmen and few other bureaucrats at various cities in Karnataka, based on credible information against them that they were involved in money laundering. Ordinarily, this would not have been a big issue. But the nation is now looking at the big theatre conducted by the coalition partners on the day after the world celebrated theatre day.

How did this become such a big issue? If some news reports on local channels are to be believed Karnataka CM got information about IT raids from a cab driver (on 27th March 2019 itself) allegedly booked by IT department for the purpose of these raids. Mr. H.D. Kumaraswamy assumed that the raids are against him and his family members. Why would he think that, is anybody’s guess. He promptly called a press conference and announced that there will be IT raids on him and his family members the next day. But the IT department did not only not raid HDK, but they also did not touch even a single Minister or MLA of the coalition partners.

HDK had prepared only for 2 eventualities, either to be projected as martyr if the IT raid did take place and he was incriminated or to demonstrate that he is a strong leader who scared a central agency away. This raids on unrelated people rattled CM’s already dwindling stock in the state as IT not only conducted successful raids based on credible information but also stayed clear of the political quagmire.

This has disappointed HDK terribly but he anyway went ahead with his planned protest. The printed placards, political workers from the different parts of the state descending in Bangalore in the middle of the election season point out clearly that this is a staged protest. HDK even issued a prepared statement questioning why IT raids were not carried out against BJP leaders like B.S.Yeddyurappa, Shobha Karandlaje, etc., completely ignoring the fact that IT did not raid a single political leader.

With its brazen dynastic politics and problems with its coalition partner Congress, JDS (Just Devegowda & Sons) is facing a very real possibility of drawing a blank in the present Lok Sabha elections. HDK thought this IT raid would be a plank on which to lift the dwindling prospects of the election of his family members. However, by not raiding any MLA or minister the IT department has already taken out steam from this Nautanki. People are questioning why are the coalition partners rattled if the raids are conducted against some unrelated contractors, bureaucrats, etc.?

Even beyond this, there are issues which HDK has ignored which will derail his ambition of becoming Mamata Banerjee of Karnataka. Unlike Bengal, where TMC could use anti-social elements against opposition party workers to silence their dissent, BJP has a much stronger ground network to organize a counter protest to this state government sponsored nautanki. Unlike in Bengal, where Mamata Banerjee is the unquestionable leader of government & party, Siddaramiah the Karnataka strongman in Congress is not part of this charade, thereby weakening the stand taken by the coalition partners.

So the best case scenario for HDK in this issue is if the Nautanki he has started fizzle out gradually without further ado. Else, this issue may very well backfire so spectacularly that the image of JDS becomes synonymous with corruption and guarantee a clean slate to JDS in upcoming Lok Sabha elections. HDK tried to become Mamata Banerjee of Karnataka but forgot Karnataka is not Bengal.

From politics of hatred to false promise by the dynast – Let us save India, elect democracy once again

0

The witty dynast was struggling from the beginning to overshadow the honest, development centric, sab ka vikas based image of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As a result the dynast was making one stupidity after another starting from calling Chowkidar chor to a big scam accusation in Rafale deal.

India has changed a lot which the dynast is yet to understand. It is quite obvious that all the sycophants and Chamchas in congress party are following the same old culture of venerating the one family for everything to remain in corridor to power and amass wealth but that does not mean India hasn’t changed.

After futile efforts to defeat the credible and honest image of PM Modi, the dynast has now started to sing a different song.

It is like a violinist due to lack of audience if play guitar thinking that people would come to his guitar concert, the dynast of congress party is changing his politics from negativity and hatred towards Narendra Modi to fool people with tall promises.

To attract the Indian voters he has come with a big game plan that every poor person will be given Rs.72, 000/- per year and then he is also promising some new support schemes for those who wants to start business in India. The dynast is thinking that Indians are fools and would easily fall into his stupid promises and ploy. Exploiting poor, minority appeasement for vote bank politics, misusing the office to institutionalize corruption and scam, perpetuating nepotism and dynastic culture in politics are the wonderful gifts of congress party to India. Certainly DMK in Tamil Nadu is no less than congress party in ruining the state.

Spreading lies, negative politics, politics of hatred & falsehood, exploitation of poverty and minority appeasement are the innate behaviour of the dynast and his party.

After Narendra Modi has become Prime Minister of India, people of India have started to see a new style of governance and development happening with sab ka vikas, greater respect and recognition for India at international level. Display of the strength and pragmatism of India in defending its territory, diffusing terrorist camps in Pakistan, capability of India to launch and destroy live satellites are other remarkable achievement of PM Modi.

Besides that several pro-poor schemes and programs to curb corruption initiated by PM Modi has literally shaken the root of all those scamsters and looters in Indian politics. Today whether to buy gold or land or investing in share market or deposit the money in bank, Aadhar and PAN are linked therefore the looters in several government establishment are left with little chance. Even to bring their money that is slashed in foreign banks is also not that easy without the knowledge of government. Even the NGO funding is being monitored for its source, purpose and the expenditure details so the Hawala root of siphoning the money can be chocked. So all those scamsters and looters are extremely angry and want to stop Narendra Modi coming back to power at any cost.

But people of India want development, sab ka vikas, emergence of new India becoming an economic super power and they want Narendra Modi and BJP.

It was Atal Bihari Vajpayee who showed the worth and dignity of India to the world through Pokran. But congress party has only made India weak and helpless by being mute towards terrorist attack in Mumbai when UPA was in power.

Most of the Tukde Tukde gangs and regional parties are extremely angry with PM Modi whereas millions and millions of people are supporting PM Modi.

People of India are not corrupt, people want development, people want corruption and scam free government, people want India to become economic power, people want India to be known to the world as leader country and that is why they are supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But the Tukde Tukde gangs and political parties of the dynasts want Narendra Modi to be defeated because only then they can engage in corruption, scam and dynastic politics. For these Tukde Tukde gangs and dynasts, their dynasty must develop and not India. For PM Modi and BJP, it is the country that comes first and not politics or party or own family.

There are many marketing and advertisement agencies are working overnight to market and sell the dynast to India but nothing is working. DMK is making war cry to make the dynast Prime Minister of India. Several media houses are making Ramayana and Mahabharat out of the greatness of the dynast and his family but nothing is working.

If the dynast gives another interview to Mr. Arnab Goswami of Republic, certainly people of India would en mass watch the program and thereby the dynast become much more popular.

Honesty, integrity, trueness, patriotism, commitment for development and sab ka vikas are inborn leadership qualities and characteristics of Narendra Modi which the dynast cannot hire or can take for rent.

Dynast is also sincere and but towards his dynasty, for power to engage in his expert practice of looting the nation.  Nothing looks like is going to save the dynast. Lord Ram, Lord Siv, Rahim nor Jesus are going to help the dynast because none of the Gods till date knows whom the dynast he really worship and to whom he sincere to?

Amethi people are not going to support him, none of the regional parties are willing to take him seriously, Indian voters finds lots of fun in him. Who knows many congress people also may be enjoying the dynast.  Let us save India from all these corrupt dynasts, who make joke out of poverty and poor.

One more term for Narendra Modi led BJP is must for India to become an economic super power. Let us destroy dynastic politics and shall promote honesty and probity in public life by electing Narendra Modi as our next Prime Minister. Let us vote for honesty not dynasty.

Demonetisation was good: The future generations will thank us for it

0

In December 2016, eminent thinker and Chartered Accountant Shri S. Gurumurthy compared demonetization with Pokhran Nuclear Tests of 1998. Bajpai government’s nuclear tests in 1998 attracted criticism of opposition parties led by Indian National Congress. Pokhran-II also attracted international sanctions from countries like United States, Japan and many more. Today India is considered a military superpower due to the nuclear tests that were conducted by NDA in 1998. It not only brought a much needed stability in Asia-Pacific region but also established India as a global player in geo-political matters. There was short term pain resulting in long term benefits.

Can we expect the same from a bold and progressive move like demonetization from Modi government? The data post-demonetization revel that most of the demonetized currency notes came back to the reserve bank. Does it mean DeMO failed? Of course not, the government post DeMo identified 18 lakh depositors and inquiries were ordered. The number of income tax returns filed in 2018 rose to 6.86 crores from 3.8 crores in 2014. The income tax collections from 6.38 lakh crores in 2014 rose to 10.02 lakh crores in 2018. When GST was introduced in 2017, the number of assesses increased to 114.17 lakhs from 66.17 lakhs. For the period April-December 2018, the income tax collection stands at a staggering 8.74 lakh crores registering a rise of 14.1%.

The phenomenal rise in the number of returns filed, income tax collections and GST filling post DeMo clearly suggest that it has successfully influenced people to pay taxes and restrain from black money. This in long run will benefit the economy creating a sustainable stream of revenue for the government offsetting the temporary slowdown much criticized by opposition parties.

Terrnalism: A new fashion in Journalism with distorted facts

0

‘Unbiased’ journalism is the fourth pillar of a democracy. In the past, there is no use to introduce this word ‘unbiased’ before journalism. Journalism in its true sense was purely unbiased, free from any prejudices. But recently, journalism has changed critically in its true sense. In fact, recently, a twin of journalism has been emerged with a new facet of a criminal mindset. We can call it ‘Terrnalism: A new fashion in journalism with distorted facts.

To deliver impartial, real and raw truth to the people is journalism. Actually it is the responsibility of a journalist to deliver the facts and to report the incidents; not the opinion of his own. We, the reader, has every right to know the absolute truth. We are not supposed to do anything with the opinion of a journalist. His perception towards any incident may be differ from the reader. Let the reader decide the consequences, let the reader create his own understanding, his own perception towards the occurrence. But a few journalists do not play their responsibility and distort the truth as suitable to their own agenda. Not only they distort the facts but they judge the incident from their own point of view. This is not journalism! Not at all! It is like putting your words in someones mouth. As far as the truth is concerned, absolute and complete truth is important whereas half truth is to be be considered as a falsity. In fact half truth is more dangerous.

To deliver forged and half news is a recent fashion in journalism. Such journalism is a betrayal towards the unbiased journalism. Added with any unnecessary provoking word or sentence in a news can destroy the harmony of society. Furthermore Indian society with a huge diversity, is woven with our secular fabric. It is very precarious and vulnerable enough and any provoking words can play a vital role to distort communal harmony. Putting extra and unnecessary punctuation such as exclamation mark or question mark may twist the facts and misled the society towards any selected agenda.

So a journalist should be very selective for the appropriate words as well as for the punctuation to avoid any misconception. But nowadays few journalists intentionally use such punctuation or some provocative words to misled the public and create nuisance.

A pen in a hand of a ill minded person is more dangerous than a sword. The importance of pen can be understand by this poem of Great Ramdhari Singh Dinkar –

From the above poem we can see the importance of a pen. Pen in a right hand can create a huge awareness in public but in wrong hand it will be devastating and can destroy the harmony of the entire society and nation.

So, with forged news and half news a journalist is not a voice of society. But rather I would like to call him a Terrnalist and such journalism is Terrnalism, a major threat to the nation.
