“Should we relocate? There is too much intolerance here”- This is not paranoia; this is not jingoism: But patriotism is

0

The 29th Day of April 2019 is an epic day. This very day has confirmed that our very own Mohammed Aamir Hussain Khan and his wife Kiran Rao who were feeling petrified in November 2015 and were seriously considering to migrate to some other country – have not gone anywhere till date. Instead, they have stayed on and have carried on with their usual business with no hindrance. Whatever nightmares of social unrest they had proved to be baseless so much so that they did a great amount of business during the period and came out on the election day and cast their vote. They also posed for pictures (as shared by ANI on twitter) and Mr. Khan gave a news byte – they looked confident and hopeful that change is coming.

India as a country has lost many jewels to intruders, lost a lot many brains to western temptations – but has retained the highly intellectual family of Mohammed Aamir Hussain Khan with all dignity and purpose. The family has reposed their faith in the Indian democracy. They are still stars by their own rights and neither Modi nor his government or his followers have intervened in their lives in any matter. They are respected citizens of the country and that Modi has not put to perils the country that they so much love. This day is proof of that. It marks the end of the first part of the propaganda that this family kick-started in 2015.

Yes, we have moved on from this comment on 2015. But though we tried our best to ignore those comments by alluding them to gas formed from severe indigestion or as an overstatement, we failed. Because time again it proved to be an abrupt conclusion driven by an un-named phobia (read Modi Phobia). Neither could we ignore it nor did we forget. Most importantly they did not let us forget. Because it was a textbook case of ‘propaganda’ and till this day, from when Amir made this comment on November 2015 a lot of people from different stages have kept it alive; and when in 2019 the general elections were approaching another stalwart from the same fraternity of Amir Khan – Nasirrudin Shah came up with the same type of statements.

Today when the cloud of intolerance is getting cleared, we can say that they were acting – playing their part in a campaign that was spread over the last 4 years of Modi rule. If Amir’s was Act 1 scene 1 Nasir Sahab’s was Act 3 Scene 4. The scenes of these acts were well scripted and rehearsed. It had only one purpose – to ensure that people realize they are potentially unsafe under the Modi government and that when the time comes they should vote it out of power. Recently this year in 2019, just a few days back these people came up with a signature campaign asking all of us not to vote for Modi.

In the meantime someone wrote a song – sorry rap that Mr. Shekhar Gupta in his revolutionary column ‘National Interest’ has quoted, it says:
Do hazaar athra hai, desh ko khatra hai / Har taraf aag hai tum aag ke beech ho / Jor se chilla lo, sabko dara do / Aapni zahrili been baja ke sabka dhyan khinch lo.

Now my humble question is who do the lines incriminate? Mr Amir Khan, Nasir Sahab or Modi? Confused! then look at the next few lines of the rap-
Khincho, nocho, pakdo, pel do / Sukhi sukhi nafrton mein garam garam tel do / Dheere dheere saare bimar khud hi daud jayenge / Inke murdo ke piche ke murdo ko tum sting do.

Now sit back and think. Till the end of 2018 did Modi try to frighten us by saying Desh Khatre mei hai or did he say India is safe, safe from blasts and communal riots? Did he not invoke the concept of a Majboot Srakar during this time? Then who in the last four years has done the act of igniting the fault lines of society? Who has deliberately raked up one issue – the issue of faith and religion in every social crime? Is it the Modi government or the Khan-Shah-Dutt-Ghosh cabal? The answer lies in the minds of the people who have never sensed any insecurity on the ground for the last five years.

This campaign of fear for the last four years did everything possible to unsettle us, so much so that some wise person had to say ‘please stay away from social and conventional media for some time and you will find that India at the ground is moving peacefully’. But what is astonishing is that this campaign, this utter nonsense propaganda never invoked the thought of any ‘ism’ in the minds of any crafted writers like Shekhar Gupta & Co.

The virtual terror that was constantly promoted for the last four years by these people by hammering some terms into our minds like ‘intolerance’ ‘lynching’ ‘lynchistan’ ‘hyper-nationalism’ or ‘post-truth’ does not amount to Jingoism, but when Modi talks about National security it is Jingoism. Our self-appointed preceptor Mr. Gupta doesn’t understand that – if evoking national interest and national security from the perspective of Hindu identity is Jingoism, then evoking sectarian interest and sectarian phobia through sectarian identity is also jingoism. If saying Desh khatrey me hain and you need a leader who can save it is Jingoism then saying Minorities (read Musalman) Khatrey mei hai and you need to change your leader to save it is also Jingoism. It is not Modi who has turned India into Jingostan by putting the countrymen into paranoia, but it is the intolerance cabal who tried to instill paranoia and turn this land into Jingostan.

Yes, Modi talks of a fifth column. This is the column who always puts specific interests over national interest. This is the column who in their hate for Modi never thinks twice to say such things which do no good but to stresses the social fabric. This Fifth Column knows that the easiest way to fan a popular discourse in India is through Bollywood. So when Bollywood peddles a sense of fear among minorities, and in doing so it moves to point where it literally jerks them and asks them to be aware of the dangers lurking in the society due to the rule of Modi, then Bollywood is seen as voicing dissent against the Modi government but not as promoting an act of igniting a communal sense of insecurity.

It’s another discourse that their endeavor did not stir a ground except some intellectual grey matter. What good did these intellectual elitists try to achieve by igniting a perpetual sense of fear along religious lines? If they were not trying to do any good then what were they trying to achieve? … let’s not say the word because it amounts to intolerance. The mundane who generally does not pay heed to Bollywood elitists and carry on with their normal lively-hood did not listen to them. Communal riots did not flare up (are lowest in the last five years).

Now when the fifth column’s propaganda charo taraf khatra hai, aag hai for the past four years has fallen flat – it is suddenly saying India is fine, there is no danger lurking on it – so there is no place for the premise of a national security concern in these elections. Everything is well and good and India is very safe – it has no threats from inside our outside of its territory. And anyone who is invoking National Security as an agenda is doing nothing but turning the country into Jingostan. Its no doubt that these manipulated conversations from Bollywood have miserably failed to ring a bell among the masses, but a song from the same Bollywood written with honest passions by Kavi Pradeep in the late 50s stills finds its way to our hearts.

The lines: “sambhal ke rehnaa apne ghar mein / chhipe huye gaddaaron se / jhaank rahe hain apne dushman / apni hi deewaaron se were relevant then, are relevant now and will be relevant forever to any nation-state that wants to survive. We have survived the part one of the vicious propaganda by the fifth column – let’s get ready for part two.

Are you an Indian or British? Save India, elect Narendra Modi led BJP

Indian politics has touched new low with the war cry of the ‘HYPER LOYALIST’ of Gandhi family over the notice issued by MHA asking the dynast to reveal the truth about his UK citizenship. For the ‘HYPER LOYALIST’, whether the dynast is UK citizen or Indian citizen is not an issue, whether the dynast has true allegiance to India or not is not the matter of concern, whether the dynast has any merit to lead the age old party or not is not at all an issue but the main issue is questioning the dynast. Because for the ‘HYPER LOYALIST’, the one family is everything, the family should not be questioned, criticized and opposed but must be accepted in wholesome. According to the ‘HYPER LOYALIST’ the members of the family alone is eligible to become Prime Minister of the country. For the ‘HYPER LOYALIST’, India comes second or third and only the family comes first and the second being own self-gratification.

Certain documents in the official portal of British government have mentioned the citizenship of the dynast to be British. The document has been downloaded by Dr. Subramaniam Swami, one of the think tanks of RSS and the leader who is feared the most by all corrupts in Indian politics and has submitted the documents to MHA for examination. MHA has sent a notice to the dynast asking for an explanation. The dynast can simply provide the relevant documents either to accept or to refuse the charges.

The political identity of the dynast –naamdar is well known. He carries a great legacy of corruption and scam allegations. But the question before the nation is about his true citizenship.

Everyone knows Rahul Gandhi suffers from the fatal disease called ‘universal lying’.

The question before the nation is whether he has lied about his citizenship also to the people of India? Are the Indians supporting a UK citizen without knowing the ground truth is the natural concern of many?

Lord Ram after destroying Ravan came back to Ayodhya with Sita. But before coronation, an ordinary subject of Ayodhya raised doubt about the chastity of Sita; for which Lord Ram asked Sita to enter into fire to prove to the people that she was pure.

Modi and BJP believe in Lord Ram and want to make Ram Rajya. Lord Ram always stood as an example, role model and embodiment of truth and Dharma. The Lord of Hinduism, the Lord Ram too was suffered public criticism and answered humbly to the people of Ayodhya.

Why the dynast alone does not want to face the truth and face questioning? Why the ‘HYPER LOYALIST’ of the dynast are questioning the timing of the notice sent to him by the MHA? To tell the truth to the nation, why the dynast has to worry so much and make so much of furry? If the dynast has the proof, he could simply submit the same and can close the matter.

HOW THE DYNAST COULD MAKE THE MISTAKE OF WRITING AS UK CITIZEN IN THREE PLACES?

IF THE DYNAST IS SO ABSENT MINDED THEN HOW COULD HE LEAD THE COUNTRY?

THE ABOVE QUESTION IS MORE FOR THE CONGRESS MEN THAN TO INDIANS AS INDIANS KNOW HE IS A LIAR, IRRESPONSIBLE AND MANIPULATIVE. HE HAS NEITHER ATTAINED POLITICAL MATURITY NOR HAS ANY POLITICAL DECENCY.

HE DOESN’T SPEAK BUT IS REGURGITATING NEGATIVITY, HATRED, LIES AND MANIPULATED STORIES.

India has grown and advanced in the last 5 years significantly in several frontiers. The growth and development of India in the last 5 years is statistically higher than the entire 60 years of congress rule.

India has marched ahead with dignity, self-respect and confidence. Corruption free governance, development, several pro-poor schemes like cooking gas connection, electrification, building of toilets, drinking water facility, direct transfer of money to the accounts of the beneficiaries, integration of poor people into banking sector, linking of PAN and aadhar in all transactions like buying Gold, land, house, share market investment etc., enacting insolvency and bankruptcy code, Benami transaction law…. Modi has made India a glorious, proud and a happy place to live. Much more transformations need to be completed. People of India must give massive mandate to Modi to foster development, sab ka vikas and national security.

Neither the dynast nor the tukde tukde gangs can save India and at best they can only ruin and destroy India.  All these corrupt gangs have ruined India in the past is well known. And now the citizenship of the dynast itself is under question.

Save India, elect Modi, let the agenda of development, Ram Rajya flower and not the politics of dynasts, nepotism, corruption and scam.

“Modiji ko jitana hai”, said an elderly lady who could barely walk, while going to register her vote

Let me begin with a disclaimer: I’m no election analyst. I’m no psephologist either, who travels to two hundred and fifty constituencies around the country and reports on the ground realities from there. Or, who has on speed-dial some 20 (or 200) respondents per constituency to give him a sample of where the swing is heading. So, don’t ask me questions like—who will form the next government?

I’m just an ordinary concerned citizen who has a story to narrate. Another caution: this is a simple story about a mundane event and not about something as mindboggling as the Road Show we all witnessed in Varanasi on 25 April 2019.

Let me also assert — that the decibels raised by hardened Modi Bhakts notwithstanding, Modi is not going to come to power if his supporters continue binge watching NaMo TV from the comforts of their homes and don’t come out to vote.

So bang came 11 April, Phase-I of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. I live in Greater Noida which is part of Delhi-NCR. The skies were clear. No trace of any clouds, rain or thunderstorm. The sun was hot even at 7 in the morning. Maximum temperature was going to be 39 degrees Celsius, the weatherman had announced. The Koyal birds cooed in the nearby park welcoming the onset of those harsh North Indian summers.

We, a family of three, go out every day for a morning walk. On 11 April, we decided to vote first at 7 a.m. (which in any case is not a rush hour) and then resume our walk. The polling booth was just a few minutes’ away from our house, in a nearby school called J.P. International.

I mean who votes at 7 in the morning, right? Some six years back, in December 2013, I had voted in the Delhi assembly elections (yes, at that time I used to live in Delhi), and I remember entering the polling station with the cool Delhi winter breeze touching my cheeks, pressing a button on the EVM machine and coming out—all done in a few seconds. The halls in that school at Moti Bagh had been that empty.

Fast forward to 11 April 2019, and I had expected the same. “It shall all be over in a few minutes, and then we’ll go out for a nice walk,” we’d told ourselves.

As we walked towards J.P. International School, the first shock was the sight of the number of cars parked on both sides of the road. So much so, that there was hardly any space to walk. At 7 in the morning? Have people gone crazy?

This was just the beginning of the story. What we saw next took our breaths away. The crowds had flooded the street. No, no, no. Probably the street was flooded with crowds. For a moment, I couldn’t believe my eyes. Again!

Queues were a kilometre long. “They’ve been queuing up since 6:3o a.m.,” I overheard someone. I was under this impression that the middle-class doesn’t vote. That they’re least bothered about any political outcome. I wondered if we were the only middle-class family that was an exception to this rule.

My mother, who retired from the IAS, used to tell me that only servant class used to vote in the elections in the late 90s. So much so that when candidates came to canvass, they used to make a bee-line to the service by-lanes of Vinay Marg without bothering to meet any of the officers who too were staying there!

So, had the servant class only come out in large numbers to vote this time? I looked at the people who had already queued up. Women—both young and old dressed in “smart casuals”, pants and jeans and designer salwar kameezes, you know. Men carrying expensive mobile phones. Elderly couples who could have been my grand-pas and grand-moms. All decidedly middle-class.

Now from experience, I know that the SP-BSP alliance does not cater to the middle-class (correct me if I’m wrong). Their core vote bank is Dalit/OBC. Okay, what about Congress? Now, what I know from social media is that the middle-class is very annoyed with the Congress’ NYAY scheme which is economic nonsense at one level and ANYAY for the middle-class at another. If Congress comes to power and implements this scheme, the burden of it all will have to be borne by the hard-working middle-class.

“We cannot solve the poverty problem but we can definitely make the middle-class poorer,” seems to be the Congress motto this time. Enough to scare the middle-class. On the other hand, to be fair to the Modi government, it did come out with an enhanced threshold for income tax, a higher standard deduction, higher exemption from TDS, and incentives for start-ups that all benefit the middle-class.

So, people were asserting (rightly or wrongly) all-around me that this tsunamo, you guessed it, was unabashedly in favour of Modi.

Wow! Usually, the middle-class gets very agitated if they have to stand in long queues and that too in the sun. But I heard not even a word of protest. We all smiled at each other and waited patiently as if we were all a part of one big family.

The mandarins manning the voting booths obviously were taken unaware. So, they fumbled and looked confused. Soon other doors were opened to reduce the long queues. Elders and disabled were given preference which nobody objected to.

I saw a woman on a wheel chair determined to cast her vote and my heart bowed with deep respect. Voting days in India are national holidays. But when I saw that woman on that wheel chair, I knew this election was special.

Another lady jumped the queue. Her hair was grey, and she wore a sari. She had a walking cane in her hand. Moving a few steps for her was like covering a thousand kilometres. Her husband (I think!) patiently accompanied her.

She had difficulty climbing up. A stranger grabbed her hand from the top of the stairs and another pushed her gently from behind.

Modiji ko jitana hai,” she said, and a smile escaped all our faces.

In the evening, I learnt that the voter turnout in the Gautam Budh Nagar district was 60%. But what those statistics didn’t tell you was this—the sea of middle-class voters who didn’t mind queuing in the baking sun, the woman on a wheelchair who had come to cast her vote, or the elderly lady who could barely walk with just one sentence on her lips, Modiji ko jitana hai. And the smile, cheers and claps that followed afterwards.

Another friend of my father shared a similar experience on WhatsApp. He lives in Ghaziabad and said that the poll agents distributing voter chits were all displaying lotus; not hand, cycle, or elephant.

That surely indicates the shape of things to come!

What has been your experience so far in this election? Would love to hear from you in the comments below this section.

Why we need Nationalism: Enemies of Indian nationalism

0

India has been a nationalistic country (of various degrees) for centuries. Although India was ruled by multiple kings in ancient times, the whole subcontinent was always referred to as a single entity by the name of Bharatvarsha, Hindustan, Indians among other names. The diversity of multiple cultures, languages, religions thrived in India like nowhere else in the world. Battles were fought over the rest of the world (especially Western and Central Asia) for the supremacy of one religion over others. The conversion of people of other faiths was (still is) one of the key aspects of Abrahamic religions.

In the process, many ancient traditions, cultures became extinct (Pagans). Many of these persecuted people took shelter in India (Parsis, Jews, Syrian Christians, etc.). The key difference between Bharat (India) and other nations was the Dharmic “religions” (actual Hindi or Sanskrit translation of religion doesn’t exist but I am using the term to explain things in today’s context). Dharmic religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, etc.) don’t rely on a single book as the ultimate source of God’s revelations. Neither do they say that their path is the best path or that there is only one single path to God. Hell, many of the Dharmic philosophies don’t even bother with the existence of God (Vaisheshika school of thought practised materialism 1700 years before the European Renaissance). The multiplicity of paths is the underlining feature of Dharmic traditions.

That’s why Hindus worship a plethora of deities and Gods in every form possible (though the meaning of God in Dharmic traditions is very different than Abrahamic traditions). Maha Kali, Laxmi, Saraswati, Vishnu, Varaha, Matysa, Krishna, Jagannath, Shiva, Bramha, Hanuman, Ram, Durga, Vaishnav Devi, Indra, Agni, Surya, Cow, Ganesha, Kartikeya, Guru Nanak to Sai Baba, Moinuddin Chishti Dargah in Ajmer and Portuguese Churches in Goa. Yes, Hindus visit in large numbers mosques and churches and not only do they visit but they also pray and respect their traditions equally as theirs. It is hard to imagine Christians visiting and praying at Dwarkadheesh and very hard to imagine Muslims praying at Mata Vaishnav Devi. I have got no problem with that. I am just highlighting the underline difference between Dharmic and Abrahamic traditions. Dharmic traditions allow and embrace the multiplicity of paths, Abrahamic traditions don’t.

Why am I discussing Dharmic and Abrahamic religions? The reason is simple. To understand the Indian nationalism and clearly differentiate it from any other distorted definitions or understanding of nationalism you might have in your mind (there are always idiots who start comparing nationalistic emotions to Nazi Germany). Modern Indian Nationalism (shaped over a century after 1857 having its seeds in the Maratha empire) is deeply shaped by Dharmic philosophies. Swami Vivekanand was the key person who reignited the confidence of Indians in their cultures, traditions. Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Ramkrishna Paramhansa, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, etc. reformed the Indian society from the clutches of superstitions and unDharmic practices with the help of ancient Dharmic philosophies.

Rani Laxmibai, Khudi Ram Bose, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Annie Besant, Lala Lajpat Rai, S. C. Bose, Vallabhbhai Patel, Bhagat Singh, Veer Savarkar, M. K. Gandhi, Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, etc. were all nationalists. They had vastly different political ideologies and religious beliefs. However, they all wanted a strong, united, free, independent India. Bhagat Singh was a true nationalist (despite being a communist) and he sacrificed his life for our nation. All the major nationalistic leaders always stressed on the concept of equality of religions. “Secularism” has always been a key aspect of Dharmic traditions and then Indian nationalism. Unfortunately, Britishers and enemies of Indian nationalism succeeded in dividing India.

Summarizing the essence of Indian nationalism in a few points:

  1. India’s unity, integrity and sovereignty is of utmost importance and anyone posing a danger to any one of these should be treated as an enemy of the nation (such ideas are reflected in our constitution where even preventive arrests are allowed in cases where any individuals or groups pose threat to India’s unity, integrity and sovereignty).
  2. Bharat Mata above one’s own religious beliefs meaning India comes first before my religion, family and society. Symbols of India such as the Indian flag, national anthem, national song (Vande Mataram), national emblem, etc. of utmost importance and significance.
  3. Owning, celebrating, respecting diverse Indian cultures, languages, beliefs, history, traditions and nationalistic heroes of the past and present (Chhatrapati Shivaji, S.C. Bose, Atal Bihari, A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, etc.) while acknowledging, correcting our mistakes.
  4. Serving people of the country irrespective of their identity (religion, language, caste, etc.). All that matters is he/she is an Indian or his/her interests aren’t against India. The rest doesn’t matter.
  5. While Indian nationalism puts India first, it doesn’t do it at the cost of other nation’s personal interests and their people (unless that nation’s interests are against India). These points are arranged in order of their importance. If you still have any doubts what’s true Indian nationalism, all you have to do is follow what Indian soldiers believe, how they live, how they work. Indian soldiers are the epitome of the purest form of Indian nationalism.

With these nationalistic ideas in mind, now let us look at the enemies of Indian nationalism. In the end, I will explain why we need nationalism (this holds true for any other democratic country).

Disclaimer: In listing the enemies of Indian nationalism, my focus will be on the specific ideas of individuals or institutions. This doesn’t mean everyone associated with those individuals or institutions are also enemies of Indian nationalism. A similar analogy would be a critique of Jihad in Islam. That critique doesn’t imply every Muslim is a terrorist.

Enemies of Indian nationalism:

  • The Left: This is true for almost all major democratic countries in the world. Be it the USA, the UK, any country in Europe or India (Japan and South Korea might be exceptions but I am not expert in their politics). The key aspect of Left-wing politics is dividing societies based on their identities, using unscientific literature and statistics and using the backwardness of a group as an excuse for activism. Left-wing politics sell rosy ideas and empathetic words like equality, equity, diversity, multiculturalism, human rights, religious freedom, women rights (feminism), LGBT rights, etc. Although our constitution has already provided such rights to every citizen of our country. But they always talk about a group of people facing discrimination in Indian society.

What they do is they cherry pick an incident, say the death of a person in a fight for a seat in the train (actual incident). Now, the died person turned out to be Muslim. Boom. Articles after articles, prime times, youtube videos are being dedicated to this news piece. They make sure that people know that a Muslim died in the hands of a Hindu. They use such isolated incidents to term India “intolerant” without any per capita statistical analysis of crime data (look at the rape per 100,000 people by country, India is way below in the list contrary to what media would portray: Rape statistics). Now when a Hindu dies in the hands of a Muslim. Nah, you might not recall even a single such incident reported in the mainstream media. But there are lots.

Political killings are common in Kerala and West Bengal but we don’t get to hear about them either. What’s the play of the left here? The Left wants to exploit the religious sentiments of Muslims, Christians or backwardness of Dalits and create a negative impression of India, especially in the minds of those groups. They will not succeed if they use the same trick with Jains, Parsis, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jews (all these groups are much smaller in numbers). The reason being these groups have collectively strong faith in India. It turns out that a large number of Muslims and Christians have faith in India and Dalits are joining army, police in large numbers. So the left are very desperate and in the process, you see horribly researched, misleading, propaganda articles in wire, scroll on a regular basis.

  • Islamic institutions: (Only critiquing a section, doesn’t apply to every Islamic institution).
It is a well-known fact that mosques were used in large numbers during the persecution and exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from Kashmir. The minority religious institutions have a fundamental right in our constitution that is not even provided to Hindus. Minority communities can manage their institutions independent of the government. What happens is there are hardcore mullahs running a large number of such madrasas. Their heroes are Aurangzeb, Babur, Ghazni who had looted and attacked Indian culture. These madrasas and mosques try to control Muslim masses and create anti-India sentiments.

Many Islamic universities also do the same. Why they do it? The reason I have already discussed in the starting paragraphs. Islamic society is still highly conservative and secluded and most of the Imams don’t want Muslim populations to intermingle with other cultures and faiths. They also see nationalism as a competition for Islam. This again is very much true for Europe where a large population of Muslim migrants are failing to integrate with the society causing tensions. Fortunately, a large number of Indian Muslim populations are very much true Indian and believers of Indian nationalism. However, sections of Islamic institutions still remain a threat.

  • Christian Missionaries: (Again only critiquing a section, doesn’t apply to every Christian institution).
The biggest aim of missionary is to convert as many people of other faiths as possible. They have been in this business since the mid-1800s. Missionaries tried to even convert Akbar during the Mughal rule! They have massive financial backings from the Western Churches. They are smarter in their approach and have developed a plethora of techniques. They deliver their messages in local languages, use local deities (only in the beginning) to gain the trust of the people and then try to convert as many as possible. Amongst their own community, they subvert the symbols of Indian nationalism and try to drive people away from their ancestral cultures.

If you visit Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, you will hardly find a temple of the local tribal deities of tribal communities. This is sharply in contrast to the western Christian and the atheist population who have largely become liberal and cool with other faiths and beliefs (not in entirety though: Christians Protest Peaceful Hare Krishna Parade!). So why missionaries see Indian nationalism as a threat? Because Indian nationalism uses symbols from India’s history and has some Dharmic influence. They also see Nationalism as competition for Christianity.

Both the Islamic and the Christian institutions have these apprehensions against Indian nationalism because both these faiths struggle with the multiplicity of faiths, beliefs and paths. Also, they see the influence of Dharmic culture in Indian nationalism (which is true and inevitable as Dharmic traditions are the bedrock of cultures and faiths of the subcontinent). Fortunately, again there is no shortage of Christian role models of Indian nationalism.

One key thing which these institutions miss is that religion and cultures aren’t the same. Indonesia’s Muslims are much closer in their cultures to Indian Hindus then they are to Saudi or even Pakistani Muslims. They own their cultures, traditions, history.

  • Academia-Media: (Similar disclaimer as above)
By academia, I mean humanities, arts, literature, history. You get the idea. Arts-humanities academia and institutions are massively dominated by leftists, Marxists, communists. To add to that, their intolerance of views of other ideologies make the voices of other groups in these institutions tiny and insignificant. JNU, the human rights council, UNHRC, UNESCO, amnesty, Oxfam, etc. The list is very long.

I will list the example of “historians”. The Marxist historians such as R.S. Sharma, Romila Thapar, Bipan Chandra made a petition in the Supreme court saying that there was no Hindu temple at the Babri Masjid site. This was all before the archaeological survey. If they were truthful, unbiased, objective historians, they would have waited for archaeological study to give their opinions (archaeological study proved that there was a temple-like structure beneath the mosque). Indian history taught in NCERT books are so bad, incomplete and misleading. I mean they dedicate large chapters to Mughals but fail to mention the destruction of temples and persecution of people of other faiths by these Islamic rulers. And they summarize the Maratha rule in just 2 pages. You will hardly learn about Vijaynagar, Cholas, Pandyas, Cheras in details as required. Forget about Lalitaditya Muktapida, Ahoms. And then they employ their identity based Marxist analysis of history too.

What’s history? History is an interpretation of past texts, records, accounts, archaeological surveys to create a story that reflects our past societies, cultures, people and rulers. The interpreter here obviously plays a big part. Now, imagine the interpreters writing history with the same political ideologues. At the same time, dis-honouring other historians who don’t agree with their narrative. This is the state of the study of history in India. If you truly want to understand what Babur believed in, just read his own words or Babarnama (which will obviously glorify Babur but you might get an idea of his racist, bigoted views which no historian will tell you about). This kind of bias in academia is again reflected in gender-studies, group studies, caste studies, etc. And a lot of these studies are highly mediocre, unscientific and almost useless.

This, however, is the stronghold of the left and they use academia and media institutions to weaken Indian nationalism in every way possible. BBC, The Hindu, Quint, Wire, Scroll, NDTV, JNU are some of these institutions.

  • Half-educated morons: And then, there are the so-called “liberals” with hardly any knowledge but an agenda to be on the opposite side of the Right. So, what they do? They oppose nationalism because for them, its the sign of liberalism, critical thinking and coolness. A lot of feminists, comedians, urban kids, west imitators fall in this category. Unfortunately, there is a market for morons also and sometimes morons rise to a position of power and many times, such positions are handed over to them (Rahul Gandhi). The situation is even worse in the USA where there is Antifa, crazy crybaby feminists, idiot celebrities and talk show hosts, insanity over the liberal-conservative divide. Many celebrities such as Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, J. K. Rowling fall in this category too. These celebrities might be very good in their professions but their political views and commentaries are downright moronic (Prakash Raj, Kamal Hassan).
  • The Right: The right is usually associated with nationalist feelings. However, a certain section of the right tends to overuse the nationalistic arguments and sometimes undermine fair criticism of a person or an institution. For example, a person critiquing Narendra Modi’s policies termed “anti-national”. What it does is it undermines the weight of the word “anti-national”. Anti-nationals does exist in India (JNU students shouting slogans against India are anti-nationals, there is no doubt about that).

However, one must be careful in using the term as you might in the process distort the meaning of nationalism. Also, nationalism is independent of political ideologies. Nationalism is much bigger than any political ideology. It’s even stronger than religious beliefs for a true nationalist. A political party though can claim to be nationalist has no right to distort the meaning of true nationalism, I underlined in the opening paragraphs.

  • Enemies of India: This is no brainer. Pakistan, many institutions of the west trying to control and undermine India, terrorists, Naxals, urban Naxals, separatist groups (insurgents in the North East), etc.

Why we need nationalism?

You might ask, we have been an independent nation for more than 71 years. Why we need nationalism now? For starters, one has to look no further than Europe right now. I would recommend “The strange death of Europe” by Douglas Murray on the subject. The anti-national, leftist policies of many European politicians have caused immense and irreparable damage to European societies. Rape per capita in Sweden is one of the highest in the world. Crimes are rampant in London. There are regular terrorist attacks, vast demographic transformations, the emergence of no-go zones. The shocking part is the cover-up by the media and politicians.

Rape cases make huge headlines in India. In the UK however, when a group of Pakistani origin Muslim men were convicted with raping hundreds of white British girls and children, the media tried to cover up the whole story and termed those rapists as Asians. Human rights and free speech were thrown out of the window and dissenters and nationalists such as Tommy Robinson were jailed, tortured, disowned for just speaking up. That is a very sad state of affairs. What actually happened is, after world war II, Europeans (especially Germans) lost their sense of nationalism and cultural pride and identity. Lack of nationalism is the biggest reason for the downfall of European societies, though people are realizing that now and nationalist sentiments are on the rise. Brexit, yellow vest movements are few such examples. On the other hand, nationalist European countries such as Russia, Hungary are doing fine amidst this migrant crisis (this requires a whole detailed essay and beyond the scope of the present article).

Loss of nationalism makes the culture, people and societies of that country highly vulnerable. In the name of humanity, and rosy words of politicians, academicians, journalists, nationals start compromising with things they shouldn’t (“Bharat tere tukde honge” is an uncompromisable statement). Rohingyas are given more importance than Kashmiri Pandits (largest number of Rohingya refugees in India are in Kashmir). A cartoon is more criticised than suicide-bombing by jihadists. The army is accused of rape, human rights violations without any proof (the Indian army has very high honour and ethics, more than any army in the world. If you watch their actions against stone-pelters, encounters in terrorists, go into the details of their operations, you’ll understand what I am talking about).

Chanting Bharat Mata, Vande Mataram suddenly becomes communal. Heroes like Shivaji Maharaj, S. C. Bose are undermined in our books. Thankfully, India’s unique form of nationalism (very different from Israeli, Russian, American nationalism) is deeply rooted in Indian society. From Arunachal to Gujarat, from Leh to Nicobar, India is full of true nationalists. With the internet revolution, nationalists are emerging in media as well which used to be the stronghold of left. Regional, Hindi, vernacular newspapers and news channels are nationalist in the majority (in contrast to the English media).

We have a nationalist leader as our PM. We have the most nationalist, patriotic army in the world. We have a large number of youths full of nationalist sentiments ready to serve the country. Indian nationalism bridges the divide between religion, caste, political beliefs, languages like no other beliefs in the world. It truly is a divine, inspiring, positive experience that has been and will be the biggest driver of the progress and strength of Indian society.
Jai Hind!

Modi is right to tell inside story of TMC to people of West Bengal

0

In the election rally in West Bengal yesterday April 29 2019 PM Modi told the people of West Bengal that several lawmakers of TMC are in touch with him to save West Bengal from the torturous and dictatorial rule of Mamata Banerjee. The reason why he has made such statement may be to tell the people of the state that even several TMC lawmakers are ready to join BJP to save the state and it is now the turn of people to elect Narendra Modi led BJP and save WB.

The open statement of Narendra Modi cannot be called as poll violation or horse trading. West Bengal is burning due to the misrule of TMC. If the state is not saved from TMC, the entire culture, heritage, spirituality and hardships of all those freedom fighters of WB may disappear from this planet.

It looks like Modi would have told to the people of West Bengal the above truth only with the purpose of inspiring them to save the state. Several of the law makers of Mamata are reported to have been in touch with BJP to switch sides to save the state. This truth Modi must tell to both the people of West Bengal and also to entire India.trocities even if by remaining with such camp may be beneficial to them personally.

Both Lord Ram and Lord Krishna took the avtar to convey a larger message to the world than to kill either Ravan or Kamsa.

People of India must realize the truth that Modi would have been a nomad, wandering in some parts of Himalaya had he join spiritual path. But India is so fortunate and destined to have such a great Prime Minister – Narendra Modi to save the land from all those greedy, corrupt dynastic forces, wants to torment the development, economy and sab ka vikas agenda of Modi.

From the perspective of saving the nation and West Bengal, Modi is expected to speak truth and that is what he has done. When several of the law makers of TMC are thinking of joining BJP to save the state, people of the state must take greater responsibility to vote Modi. From people’s point of view, Modi has neither violated the poll code nor had engaged in horse trading.

Narendra Modi alone can save India and therefore he is bound to speak the truth to people of West Bengal that even several TMC lawmakers are ready to join BJP to save the state.

Today the entire India is with Narendra Modi. People see him as a divine incarnation, an embodiment of truth, honesty, straightforwardness, social justice, sab ka vikas, development and national security.

People see Modi more a boon, has come to save India from corrupt dynastic forces and lead India to development and sab ka vikas. Therefore Indians must respect and recognize those from the opposition camps like TMC if express their desire to join Modi, people must share the same with others about the hidden desire of all those from the opposition camp and must inspire Indians to vote for Modi to save India.

The Land of Tagore, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa, Swami Vivekandnada, Subhash Chandra Bose, JC Bose, Aurobindo etc., should not lose its identity and dignity due to the misrule and Goonda Raj of TMC and its supremo Mamata Baneerjee.

In the past, people saved the state from communist party but people have unfortunately moved from devil to Dead Sea by electing TMC.

BJP alone can save West Bengal and such truth has been recognized even by several lawmakers of TMC. Save India, elect Narendra Modi with massive majority.

Here is why the book Urban Naxals is a must read, especially for the parents of young children

0

I saw the movie “Buddha In a Traffic Jam”. I understood what was being implied in the movie. However, for me and millions others not enjoying the proximity, geographically and ideologically, of the traditional naxal movement, it was fiction. It was a movie, watched with the motive of entertainment and escapism. Maybe it was not an entertaining movie. It was dark, but it was still a movie. It contained fictional facts and half truths; and there are always dramatizations and exaggerations in the name of creative license.

Now almost a year after the book was released, I read “Urban Naxals”, authored by “Vivek Agnihotri” and published by “Garuda Prakashan”. It is the author’s first book. The book chronicles the inspiration, conceptualisation, creation and screenings of the movie.

One might wonder what possibly can a book about the making of a movie have to offer? What was not already not known? There cannot be a more fallacious thought. The book has its own merits. It is not merely about the journey of movie; it is also about the journey of the author. Any person who has struggled, failed, improvised, felt defeated, challenged, overcame challenges, felt elated, survived, given their all to achieve their goal will relate to his journey. Most importantly it is also the journey of the till now uncoined concept of “Urban Naxal”.

This book is a must read to comprehend the modus operandi of the Urban Naxals and their impact and influence in every sphere of society. The book is divided into four parts.

The first part describes how the author came to making a film like this. The diverse path taken by him landed him in a position to be able to make this film. It describes his struggles with financing and his unique approach to solve the issues he faced. The most amazing part was how he created a hundred owners of the film.

Second part is about the conceptualisation of the story. It delves into the author‘s sources, his motivation, his own experiences, his brush with naxalsim when he was a student, all of which contributed to adding to the nitty gritty details and new angles to the story. When I read this part, I know it not be a half truth, as it has verifiable facts- literally and in theory.

In the third part the author narrates in detail how the story was written and the film made. It took immense creative effort to design the flow of narrative, frame by frame, chapter by chapter.

The fourth part chronicles the film’s screening, challenges faced at every screening and subsequent success. After having been shelved, the film rises like a phoenix to give sleepless nights to the naxal ecosystem. The events taking place all over the country at the time corroborated the need for such a film and narrative. People needed to be made aware of the narrative which has been vehemently guarded till now.

The author is a famous Bollywood director. However he does not use his position as an insider to divulge the workings and gossips of Bollywood, which was a welcome surprise; as one would assume that could have been a selling point for the book. All Bollywood names mentioned have been mentioned in a matter of fact way, as they have been a part of the author‘s, the film‘s and the “right” narrative’s journey. There was hardly any digression from the main theme of the book, which is, how the movie with such theme and content was conceptualised, created and conveyed.

The book is well organized, written in easy to comprehend style. One can relate to and empathise with the journey of the director-author. Despite the movie, the book also holds on its own.

The movie might have come and gone as an offbeat movie, had it not been for the herculean efforts of the Urban Naxals mafia to ban the movie, to hinder its screenings; in general to disrupt the propagation of any idea contrary to their own; do what they are best at doing. As mentioned also in the book., traditionally the general idea of any movie has been entertainment. Had it not been for the attention or rather resistance the movie received, possibly it would have come and gone as a fictional story which ruffled many feathers.

The book however corroborates the movie by providing verifiable facts.

The book is also about being true to oneself, being fearless and resilient, finding creative solutions to difficult challenges.

Myself and million others like me have been detached from the Urban Naxals. However, I have been awed with their idealism, intellectualism, work ethic, community and reach. In my eyes they were the superior class- idealistically and intellectually. On second thoughts, if I looked up to them, how would I consider myself detached? I was as much a potential target recruit as anyone else. I could easily imagine myself to be impressed and influenced by someone like the author‘s dramatics professor, just as the author was during his university days; except that I have been a million miles away from dramatics and other extracurricular activities.

I recommend the book to anyone who cares about their children. Children and youth have impressionable idealistic minds; they might unknowingly get affiliated with the Urban Naxals. A lot of the Urban Naxals seem to be lurking in and around universities and student activities. The book is about how the movie was made, but also offers profound insights in about how the Naxal network works. Invested as much as they are in their children’s life and well-being, parents need to be as much on watch regarding their ideological contamination.

I also recommend the book to everyone to be inspired by the creative solutions in seemingly difficult situations. When one wants to do something, there would be a way. One has to find it, just as the author did. The journey might not be easy, might not make sense now; but in the end it will be possible to connect the dots.

A film like “Buddha in a Taffic Jam” was crying to be made and screened in these times. The book on making of the this movie, filling in the necessary details, was equally essential.

Raghuram Rajan edged what Chanakya focused

0

There are dozens of intricate principled questions which exist without any suitable response, and the basics of ethics are incessantly argued. Was Pataliputra-born Indian Machiavelli (Chanakya) an economist? He might have been exalted with the fine quality of this field of knowledge. His much-read book Arthashastra, a text written roughly between 2nd & 3rd century B.C. was based on politics.

Likewise, Raghuram Rajan comes from the financial background but holds eminence as an economist. He is definitely not an economist as he cleared during an informal question-answer session a few days before the end of his term as RBI Governor in September 2016. Replying to a formal question he responded that he was absolutely not an economist as was alleged by Subramanian Swamy. He even said that he did not hold any degree in economics.

Being a general impression because of his position as the country’s apex bank’s Governor, he was considered as an economist. He was surely known for his expertise in the banking field. What he did not read better than to say what he professed about being a top quality economist. No other RBI governor would have drawn so much media attention as he received.

He was recently in the news because of his denial at joining the complex field of politics. This particular discipline is not what really is resting in his sagacious mind at this point in time. He is very clear about his stunning thoughts over politics which he considers is too boisterous to deal with. Showing complete aversion towards the political principles, he stated, “I have no interest in the politics, absolutely any.”

Going a little farther he expressed that ‘My wife said she will not stay with me if I join politics. I do not have a taste for politics. Everywhere it is noisy.’ It is his inner ire at own life’s choices, and his retaliatory opinion, that dissuades him from the complex character of politics.

His book ‘The Third Pillar’ is more intellectual than polemic. Just as the ancient Indian teacher’s political treatise provides every kind of knowledge, his book would not be confined to only economics. He understands economics, economy and economic growth far better without being an economist.
