Hindus! Eat beef OR sacrifice your career: Force feeding beef to Hindus

0

“Force feeding beef to Hindus is OK in India?”

Voicing concerns in India is always selective. While on the one hand, pseudo intellectuals champion campaigns such as #NotInMyName. Strangely enough, they go silent on issues like triple talaq. The same people have a big issue with teaching Sanskrit in schools but defends Tukde Tukde gang under the name of the “freedom of choice.” Similarly, everyone talks about beef ban, no one talks about illegal cow smuggling and smugglers. Who are not only atrocious on cows but also kill people in cold blood, including India’s Border Safety Force Soldiers.

It is very important to know the truth, which is an open secret within an industry. Industry that trout itself, as a symbol of status and glamour. Few outside the industry barely know the truth but they should. I am talking about the fascinating, prestigious, alluring Hotel Industry.

The topic that I am writing today, is very close to my heart, as I had personally been a victim of it and so have many others. Many people just blend into the scenario or quit, but raising your voice is not an option in most of the cases. As a trainee, you are training and preparing for a career, but you are asked to betray your religion mainly if you are a practicing Hindu, if you are to continue.

Imagine a situation if a Muslim student in a Hindu dominated and Hindu owned culinary college is forced to eat or cook pork? This news will spread like wild-fire, names will be called out like Hindu terrorist, intolerance in India, atrocities on minorities. Which would not be limited to India but spread across the globe by journalist like Barkha Dutt writing in anti-Hindu articles in Washington Post. The New York Times would write extensive articles maligning Hindus and obviously BBC would relentlessly shame both India and Hindus. There would be an epic backlash from the Muslim community, all around the world.

Disappointing but true, this is never talked about if it is the other way around.

Glamorous life of 5-star hotels, expensive and exotic menus, place where all the pseudo intellectuals sip their French wines with Cuban cigar. The place where guests is the boss and is always right.
In these same hotels, the practice of force-feeding beef to Hindus is not a hidden secret.

Let me start from the beginning. The majority of the employees in the primary operations departments in hotel industry, Front office, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage (F&B) Service and F&B production/Kitchen, have a hotel management diploma or degree, for which they have attend anywhere between 6 months – 4 years of courses and have to go to institute or colleges. During their studies, they were required to take several theory and practical lessons on various subjects, cooking being a part of it. Where they are taught from basic cooking, Indian cooking to intentional food.

The facts that I am going to present are not just rumor told to me, I have witnessed incidents personally, as a part of the hotel industry. I am a practicing Hindu since my childhood, who went to a hotel management college in Mumbai. It has a predominantly Muslim Students body and managed by a well-known Muslim Trust, with various educational businesses throughout the city and across the country. Obviously, I will refrain from mentioning their name directly, as I do not want anyone taking illegal actions on any locations, people or institutes mentioned or hinted in my article.

When students go for kitchen practical, the menu is decided a day before of the practical. Two students are paired to complete the practical and finish cooking the food on the menu. Yes, you are right, there are times where beef is a part of the menu and regardless of your faith, belief and religious practice you will have to cook beef. How could or would you will escape eating and/or cooking an animal sacred to your family? You might call in sick but what if the menu is part of your practical exams? You will fail if you do not attend that exam, it is as simple as that.

Hotel management courses can be expensive, costing lakhs of rupees every year. If you fail that year, you must repeat the year and pay fees, all over again. Lot of students come from a humble background and cannot afford to waste neither their time nor money repeating a year. What is my option but to cook beef? Although, we were never forced to eat beef it in my college. However, I have witness lot of students start consuming beef, for the first time in their lives during the year of their practical term at hotel school. There were also, students like me who remained true to their belief and do not consume beef. The most preposterous reason I have heard to star the practice of eating beef is “What if a guest does not like the food you served or cook? And they tell you to try for yourself, what will you do? Get into a habit of eating everything, “IT IS FINE.” I have lived and worked in 3 different countries, met guests from across the globe. Never, have I witnessed anyone asking me to eat something, which I cannot eat contrary to my religious beliefs. The Anti-Hindu Bias and mindset that is breed locally within the industry, in college and work place, mainly exist in India.

While, the religious belief of some were protected, to a great degree, as alcohol (as I mentioned, the school was an Islamic institution), was not allowed even for practical in food and beverage service, when we were learning different types of service for wines and learning how to make cocktails. We were made to use water as a substitute. During an annual college festival a well know Wine company (Sula Wines) was stopped from sponsoring the event, because they wanted to display an advisement banner for their “wine” on campus for 3 days. A prominent chicken supplier was rejected as a sponsored for an annual dining event for not being religious enough meat supplier. The Head of the departments of culinary, said he wanted to us to personally witness the chicken being slaughters to make sure the Chicken is halal and a “Halal Certificate” provided by the company was not trust worthy.

This is the same college and same chef (who was well-known in the industry and had served as an Executive Chef for major 5-star hotel group, later he dedicated his life to Islam) who made students cook beef regardless of their religious belief.

The story does not end at the gates of my college, it gets progressively worst. I am a good cook (yes, sometimes I boast about myself) interested in culinary field, as career but I did not choose the kitchen. Why? Should you land a job, at a major hotel in India in a continental kitchen you might be forced to eat beef. The reason, “How do you truly know your product, unless you taste it.” According to this reasoning, if I became a surgeon, I would have to under go a surgery before operating on anyone else.

Obviously, all these incidences occurred before the recent beef bans in some regions of India. I am not sure how things operate in the areas where beef is still legal. Knowing the industry in India, I have my suspicions. Most of the time, students select the restaurant/hotel industry, because they dream about the affluent and glamour lifestyle. The students are buying a gold-plated dream, with no delivery in sight.

Few years back the “liberal” media and political parties was outraged, by an incident that took place during Ramadan. A catering supervisor was force-fed regular food by Shiv Sena MP, while he was fasting in religious observance during Ramadan. Later the MP clarified that he was not aware of his fasting. This same outraged media would probably not open their mouth on these instances of discrimination, against Hindu Students.

I met a person in UK during my training, Sandeep (name changed to protect the identity) who is from Mumbai and was working in the Kitchen. He bought a beef sandwich, so I asked him if he ate beef. He told he never used to eat beef, even during his Hotel management college, but several months after completing his college he finally got a job, in a major 5-star hotel in Powai, Mumbai as a Commie II (Cook). On his first day of his new job, the executive chef of the property asked him if he ate beef and his reply was NO. The chef then put a piece of beef on a dish and asked him to eat. He was given no choice in the matter, as the chef told if he did not eat the beef, he would be fired for “incompetency.” Sandeep came from a middle class and his family had financed his education with loans. Sandeep had the familial obligation to help pay off the loan. Getting a job was not easy, so he did not have any option but to eat beef. All of this might sound outrageous and obnoxious but facts are hard to digest!

Guess, what? The chef was a Hindu and a known Maharashtrian chef, who had appeared in many TV shows and is awarded on many occasions by various organizations including Shiv Sena. I believe Sena do not know his true character and his self-hate for himself and his own community wrapped in the blanket of “professionalism”, or they would had never honored him.

Also, if you are the rebel and walk out of the job, possibly you might be blackballed in the industry or if you are a whistle-blower and by some miracle, you are still able to maintain your job, the repercussions are not easy to deal with. Using the industry power, exploitation is openly practiced and accepted in the Indian hotel industry.

I had walked out of the kitchen during my internship in another 5-star hotel in western suburbs of Mumbai, due to rejecting to eat beef. I was told they would not clear my completion certificate for Kitchen training, which is a part of the curriculum and student cannot pass the year without completing the training. I asked them to give this to me in writing and mention the reason that “I am not able to complete my training as I refused to eat beef.” Which for obvious reasons they did not give it to me but the last 3 months of my internship were hell on earth. I was made to work a minimum of 18 hours a day, even while training in other departments (average shift is about 10-12 hours), completing unnecessary task like polishing thousands of silverware and glasses (which was not necessarily needed), cleaning other employee dishes by hand (we had a department that cleans dishes in machine, but not while I was on my shift) and several other task are given as a punishment. I was verbally abused by supervisors. You may ask anyone in the industry, how interns are treated and retaliated if they open their mouth. Mental enslavement and intimidation is alive and well in the Indian Hotel Industry.

This is just one example on top of my head, within the industry you can find several such instances, which I had seen only and openly practiced in India. This form of discrimination is not practice in no other country in the world, where I had worked. In passing, I had met several international chefs, who were flabbergasted and dismayed by these bias industry accounts and told me this is a bad practice and abuse of power. Their viewpoint was that the industry should respect religious sentiments.

For me this practice is a part of religious persecution of Hindus, unknowingly under the name of “professionalism” Hindus within the industry became a part of it. No one should be forced to do anything against their religious belief but if professional is the excuse, how come in the industry, no one witness a Muslim student forced to cook or eat pork and drink alcohol?

My question remains the same “Force feeding beef to Hindus is OK in India?”

Takeaways from Uttar Pradesh this polling season

0

Uttar Pradesh is like no other state in India, it is the country’s most populous province which sends 80 out of the 543 members to the Lok Sabha. This state’s political importance can be ascertained with the phrase that the road to Delhi lays via U.P. The same phrase came to be true in 2014 with the BJP’s performance in Uttar Pradesh where it won over 70 seats forming the fulcrum of the party’s win in the 2014 General Elections. However with its large population Uttar Pradesh comes with several caste and religious equations and is often said to be a political chessboard in itself. Over the past week I travelled across the state of Uttar Pradesh to gather the pulse of the people as they’re about to cast their vote in the ongoing General Elections. I traveled to Lucknow, Amethi, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur and Varanasi and after interacting with the locals from different walks of society, here are some of my key takeaways

  • Access to Data and Smartphones : Majority of the locals owned a smartphone and had access to data across different districts of the state which is attributed to India having the cheapest mobile broadband prices in the world. The speed at which their data worked may have varied but it was a common trend that due to its availability in the first place the Indian electorate is an informed electorate. They were well aware of the various schemes and political messaging indulged in by different political parties. Owing to this information they were judging political parties on the basis of their performance or ‘vikas’ as one individual had said, keeping the erstwhile caste system on the back-burner.
  • Rejection of NYAY: One common trend which was highlighted by several locals was that Congress’s minimum income guarantee scheme NYAY where five crore poor families would receive a minimum income of Rs 6000 per month was rejected. Even though they considered a minimum income scheme a noble idea, they failed to believe that the Congress Party would be able to implement it and termed this as an impractical freebie this polling season. The pulse of the people could be summarised with a man from Amethi’s tongue in cheek remark that whether the Congress Party’s leaders would be paying for this scheme with their own pockets.
  • Lack of Support for the Bahujan Samaj Party: Over the course of my trip we asked the people of Uttar Pradesh who they would prefer as their next leader and the writing on the wall was clear for Mayawati and the BSP as it found no takers. This is attributed to the success of the BJP’s government pro welfare schemes such as the Ujjwala Yojana where LPG connections are provided to women from poor households; Saubhagya Scheme providing electricity to all households and the toilets being built under the Swachh Bharat Mission.

The beneficiaries of each of these schemes have previously voted for the BSP and the success of these schemes have translated into a lack of support for the same and it appears as if the vote share previously enjoyed by the BSP would transfer to the BJP this election. Further the BSP is seeming to be a liability for the Samajwadi Party as individuals in different districts in the state said that in constituencies where BSP candidates would be contesting as a representative of the Mahagatbandhan they may not enjoy a transfer of votes from the Samajwadi Party voter base owing to Mayawati’s lacklustre performance as a Chief Minister.

  • Electorate’s Disconnect with Priyanka Gandhi : The Congress Party’s appointment of Priyanka Gandhi as the General Secretary of Uttar Pradesh ( East ) was announced with a lot of fanfare with the party pinning its hopes of revival in the state on her. Several individuals across Eastern UP however have not accepted this announcement with the same enthusiasm as per my interactions. They said that she has always campaigned for her mother and brother in the past decade and her entry into politics is nothing new. Further the people of Uttar Pradesh believed that Priyanka Gandhi shied away from contesting polls in Varanasi, after creating speculation about the same herself. The Congress’s announcement to not field Priyanka Gandhi from Varanasi hours prior to Narendra Modi’s roadshow was seen as a sign of concession by the Congress Party.
  • Pro Incumbent Wave : In Uttar Pradesh there seems to be a pro incumbency wave in favor of Narendra Modi as the Prime Ministerial candidate these general elections. As per my interactions the government’s pro poor welfare schemes and Modi’s image of a strong and decisive leader have resonated with the electorate of Uttar Pradesh. This was evident with the mega roadshow held by the Prime Minister a day prior to him filing his nomination papers. The pulse of the youth of the state was that Modi has been successful in tiding over the caste narrative and successfully packaging the Mahagatbandhan as a ‘Majboor Sarkar’.

Problem of a truthful liar Naamdar-Dynast, President of Liars Club, save India, elect Modi

0

Indian mythology has shown eloquently how those who speak truth, walk the path of dharma, believes in honesty and universal welfare suffers the worst. The story of King Harischadra and King Sibi tells nothing but the above truth only.

Indian politics also has shown that how much the honesty, commitment and hardworking is traumatized and abused and the perfect example is Narendra Modi. He was tortured a lot by UPA 2 to malign his reputation and honesty. The role of several pseudo-journalists media houses in defaming Modi is quite significant. The reason for the success of Modi is that he did not get deterred by the criticism or abuses but continued with his mission of development and sab ka vikas tirelessly.

Another politician in India, the hall of fame Naamdar dynast also can be credited as the honest person. The dynast also speaks only truth but the only difference is that he is always honest enough to speak lies. His truth is lie and therefore he lies truthfully and honestly.

People of India have accepted Narendra Modi, believe in him, follow him, respect him and vote him because people have seen his intent and actions, born out of sincerity, patriotism, commitment and concern for poor and downtrodden. Therefore people want Modi back again as Prime Minister of India to lead the country towards greater success.

The people have completely rejected the naamdar dynast who also can claim he too speaks only truth but the reason is quite curious. Speaking lies is the honest business of Rahul Gandhi which he does perfectly, honestly and dutiful.

The problem of naamdar dynast is not about his lies. People wants to hear more lies from the dynast, people wants to know more stupidity and ignorance of the dynast, people enjoys listening to the dynast, then why the honest disposition of lies by the born liar is not been accepted and respected by people of India?

The real problem of the dynast is that he lies at Narendra Modi and the bizarre expectation of the dynast is that people should believe his nonsense.

How people would believe a born liar?

The naamdar with long tradition of corruption and lying when utters lies at a honest leader, a leader who is committed so much into the agenda of development and sab ka vikas, a Prime Minsiter who has reformed India and taken India to new heights of development and empowerment, people would not believe the liar and nor would respect such liars?

Naamdar always claims that he is an embodiment of love and that was the explanation he gave to people of India when he was asked why he hugged Modi in Parliament. The bitter truth is that he is the symbol of lie, hatred and negative politics.

Like Lucifer in the biblical versus, the dynast is projecting uglier face of his politics with sweet coating. But the question is that people of India are not going to trust the naamdar dynast.

Another interesting twist in the entire narrative is that, only the other dynast naamdar, his sister could help to authenticate his truthful lies.  No one else in the congress party can match the naamdar dynast Rahul Gandhi like his sister.

On the contrary, millions and millions of people of India are with Modi, promoting his agenda of development, spreading his message of sab ka vikas and national security. Millions and millions of people of India are tirelessly working to tell every people around them about how India has transformed in the last 5 years and how many more unfinished tasks are there for Narendra Modi to achieve to make India the ‘LEADER COUNTRY’, economic super power.

This election is all about a fight between negative forces versus positive mission of Modi. The election is all about development versus dynasty, honesty versus corruption, merit versus meritless-ness, nepotism and sycophancy versus fairness and indiscrimination.

People having identified and recognized the truthful liar– Naamdar dynast, let us limit the role of the dynast to continuously lie and not to rule India.

Like laughing club, the dynast can start a liars club and he can also become the president of liars club. Even if he is challenged by some congress men for his poor performance in the party, no one on earth can challenge him in liars club because no one can ever match him or defeat him in lying. He alone can remain as the monarch, emperor and King of liars club for all times.

Save India, elect Narendra Modi should be the inner call every Indian must invoke and spread across.

Here’s why changing names of places is very important

0

Do you know this place?

This is Nalanda University which was established to emulate the ancient and extremely famous Nalanda.

Let’s get to know a bit about the original University. Nalanda was the oldest and the greatest of all the Universities and was world’s first residential institution. Lord Buddha is the most important and famous figure to have been associated with Nalanda. It housed more than 10,000 students during its peak. It attracted scholars and students from far off places like China, Tibet, Korea et al.

But it no longer exists. It was destroyed and plundered by Bakhtiyar Khilji in 1193 CE. He was the military general of Qutb-din-Aybak who was later recognised and rewarded for his destruction caused by his seniors then.

Most of the inhabitants of Nalanda were Brahmans who slained by Bakhtiyar and his troops. Buddhism as a religion had a setback of hundreds of years due to the loss of several texts during that barbarous attack.

What’s unfortunate is that a place in Patna, just an hour away from Nalanda goes by the name Bakhtiyarpur. No prize for guessing that this place is named after the very same person, Bakhtiyar Khilji. During his attack spree, he had also destroyed several of Buddhist monasteries which were present in the now called Bakhtiyarpur.

The person who is responsible for the loss of India’s and Buddhist religion’s one of the greatest pride and cultural heritage is being honored with a city named after him. Wow!

I fail to understand how no action is yet being taken. The city is still called Bakhtiyarpur.

But then when I see people’s reaction to name changes like Allahabad to Prayagraj, I wonder if we Indians ourselves care even a bit about restoring and honoring our rich history and culture.

A bit of research will give enough information why these names have been changed. With examples like Bakhtiyarpur, you’ll realise that there are many many more names which are needed to be changed.

Good governance of Modi and extinction of opposition

0

People would often say, strong opposition is must for healthy democracy. But in India, the opposition is vanishing swiftly. The simple reason is, as long as Narendra Modi continues as the Prime Minister of India and BJP in power, democracy and good governance shall exist without opposition. The agenda of Narendra Modi is development, national security and sab ka vikas.

This is the first experiment in entire world that the democracy would flourish even without strong opposition if the governance is good and development centric. The question of why the opposition parties are vanishing very fast and some regional parties once considered to be strong have come to the brink of extinction?

We must understand the ground truth and only then every Indian can appreciate the fact that India must be saved from all those Tukde Tukde gangs, dynastic corrupt forces and India must be made congress mukt.

Indians must note down the following points to understand why they should elect Modi and save India.

  1. Good governance cannot be questioned, criticized or defeated by those who have gifted bad and worst governance in the past. Congress party not only has the legacy of family rule but also has the great tradition of corruption and scam. India has been pushed backward several centuries by congress party and the same party also has divided India by the politics of minority appeasement and pseudo secularism. Therefore congress party cannot defeat BJP and Modi as they represent honesty, purity and symbol of good and corruption free governance.
  2. The regional parties like DMK, TMC, TDP, SP, BSP, JDS etc., also carry a big baggage of corruption and dynastic politics, therefore people are unwilling to accept the narratives of these parties against PM Modi.
  3. Corrupts cannot question and defeat honesty. Modi is the most honest leader in Indian politics, always stood for values, integrity and governance free of corruption, discrimination and minority appeasement. Congress party is synonym and expansion of corruption and that is how people of India see congress party. The credibility of many regional parties is also the same.   Therefore even if all these parties join together, they cannot question Modi because none of them have any credibility or bare minimum eligibility to question the embodiment of truth, honesty, sincerity – Modi.
  4. Dynasty cannot question and defeat merit. Modi has come to power through hard work, sincerity and merit. Modi has begun his life in a humble way as a tea seller and rose to the highest position of Prime Minister of India purely through merit and with the unconditional support of millions of people of India. Whereas the dynasts like Raghul Gandhi, MK Stalin, Chandrababu Naidu, Akilesh Yadav all have come to power purely due their family and not due to any political merit. Today except MK Stalin, no other leader in DMK is eligible to become Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu if the party comes to power. So is SP in UP. Rahul Gandhi becomes the chief of the party only because of his family and not due to any merit. So meritless dynasts cannot question or defeat the real merit. Modi represents the most clean and most appropriate leader to lead India.
  5. Nepotism cannot question and defeat fairness. The governance of Narendra Modi is absolutely free from nepotism and favouritism. Only based on merit and performance, people both in BJP and in government can expect growth. On the contrary, in congress party, all those who wield power in the party are born sycophants and punkah coolies, do not have any support base among people, cannot contest or win election.
  6. Apna vikas cannot defeat the philosophy and agenda of sab ka vikas. Modi has been working tirelessly to empower everyone, achieve growth and development of every one without looking into the caste, creed or religion. A true Ram Rajya is the motto of Modi where everyone participates in building NEW India and equally benefit from the government. Equal opportunity, equal dignity and equal benefit is the political principle of Narendra Modi whereas the opposition parties and the congress party in particular would recognize only those prove their sycophancy and loyalty to the dynast the most and not those who work for the party the most or those who are meritorious.
  7. The agenda of people and nation first cannot be weaken or defeated by family first and everything next. Modiji and BJP firmly believe in Nation First and not the party first. Modi is the first Prime Minister in the recent times shown utmost courage to defeat terrorism, proxy war and those who threat national security. Patriotism, India, the growth and development of India, security of India are the soul messages of Modi whereas congress party believes only in one family and for the congress men; India means the dynast and nothing else.
  8. Child of Bofors scam cannot caste shadow on a fair and transparent two nation deal of Rafale. Indian politics was rocked by Bofors scam of Rajiv Gandhi and later news appeared in the media that more than Rajiv Gandhi, it was the Italian family involved in the scam. The present dynast of the congress party was a child then. In a literal sense, the child of Bofors scam how can question or call Modi a thief. All the more the dynast and many members of his family are on bail on charges of corruption.  A person with such bonafide is calling Modi, thief.
  9. Indians must look at various facts that are available before them. India must be saved from those corrupt forces engaged in spreading negativity and lies. Modi alone can save India, elect him and save India.
  10. Opposition is vanishing because none of them have honesty, nationalism, merit and vision.

The real danger to Indian democracy

0

As India enters into the fourth of the seven phase elections, Indian electorate are at cross roads, not because they have two different viewpoints to choose from, but the lack of an alternative vision for India apart from what Modi offers. In a flourishing democracy, the need to present a strong, powerful and sustainable choices to the electorate is extremely crucial.

On his part, Narendra Modi has from the last 19 years, presented his model of development in front of the people. By the democratic scale of measurement, his model seems to have gained wide acceptability, given that he has been consistently voted to power. His tenure as a Prime Minister, saw a strong emphasis on Infrastructure as the foundation principle for a strong economic development. Expansion of tax base, transitioning into a more mature taxation system seemed to be the way forward on the economic front. Social Development saw a burgeoning thrust with schemes like Ujwala Yojana (LPG for poor), Home for all, Healthcare for poor to name a few. The government’s approach was that of enabling versus spoon feeding read distributing subsidies. The government had arguably a more clear and articulated posture on National Security than the previous dispensations.

Modi’s critics may have hundred reasons to berate him, lack of strong vision and clarity is surely not one of them. Whether critics, agree or disagree with Modi, the fact that he has an approach to offer to the people is irrefutable.

An alternative vision, which is mature, pragmatic, has a realistic roadmap and strong leadership, a choice, that Indian public can compare to that of Modi’s vision is what is missing today. A vibrant democracy should offer at least two irresistible flavours of progress to its electorate — a dilemma that is more desirable than the current state of affairs.

Schemes and doles are not vision, they are at most part of a vision. The Nyay scheme that Congress announced is as shallow as the “gaddas” dug through MNREGA. After reducing to their worst ever total in Lok Sabha, instead of using the 5 years to rejuvenate the party, connect with masses, reenergise their cadre, infuse their viewpoints into the public through various forums, attract young talent into the leadership, Congress wasted their precious time in abusing Modi. They channelled their entire might in pursuing narratives like Award Warsi, Intolerance etc. Throwing muck at Modi was a failed approach. It only helped Modi to consolidate his position. Instead, Congress should have done a course correction in 2014 to present an alternative which is more acceptable to people as an option.

Instead of using Karnataka to develop as a model state of Congress’ vision, they thrived on corruption, incompetence and vote bank politics. A sincere effort to define and implement their vision in Karnataka would have helped them not just retain the state in 2018, but a strong resistance to Narendra Modi’s juggernaut in 2019.

While people are happy with Modi and it is amply clear that a Modi led NDA at the centre is imminent, the fact that Indian democracy has had no real alternative in 2 consecutive elections is not good for a healthy democracy. The opposition crying wolf that democracy is in danger may actually come true in 2024, but not because of Modi as they say, but because of lack of a credible opposition, which is themselves. The need of the hour is that the recently formed government in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan to leverage the opportunity given to them by the people develop alternate model of sustainable development that can match the competence of Modi’s Model. So that at least when India goes to election in 2024 again, the Indian electorate has two flavours of development paradigm to choose from.

Can congress see beyond the Nehru Parivar? Can they break away from the infamy of corruption and dynastic politics? Can young blood like Sachin Pilot, Jyotiraditya Scindia rise up and challenge the oligarchy of Nehru Parivar? Most importantly, can they liberate themselves from the Leftist eclipse and carve a niche identity for themselves? No other opposition part has a chance to attempt this, except for a new emergent congress.

Remember, Congress Mukt Bharath is not about destroying Congress, the party, but the infamy that it represents today. The real danger to democracy is definitely not Narendra Modi, but the fact that the opposition is running around like headless chickens. In 2024 when Congress and other opposition parties don’t have an alternative to offer to Indian Electorate, that is a sure signal of democracy going to docks.

Dying at 17!: Education system run by the educated yet uneducated people

0

I scored well in my tenth. Average in plus two. Okay Okay in graduation. Improved in Post graduation. Having a good career now.

But I could have died at 17. Just like those 20 students who suicided in the state of Telangana in the last 8 days. Yes! Even I would have suicided if I were not given the strength by my family. If I was not told that its okay for having scored less or failing in a subject. It’s not everything. If I didn’t realise that it’s not just the grades that matter in life. If my dad didn’t take me to the movie on the day of result, even after learning I’ve failed, the story might have been different. I might have died at 17.

Now, let’s see what has happened in Telangana. 9.74 lakh students have appeared for the Intermediate (plus1, plus2) examination in the state, while the results show 3.28 lakh students have failed. Some said it was a software glitch and blamed Telangana Board of Intermediate Education for outsourcing this to private software companies.

As the results were out on 18th of this month, in just less than a week over 20 students committed suicide out of depression, pressure from society, peers, friends and family. There is huge pressure on other students too who have scored less than what they have expected and many students went into a depression on knowing their results. The movement caught up after the opposition party leaders including BJP along with students and parents have staged protests in front of TBIE. People have protested against this issue in social media too. Twitterati trended #TelanganaIntermediateResults on top and there were many young professionals shared their support and built confidence in young minds through Facebook.

The Government, run by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has intervened on Wednesday and declared free re-evaluation for all those candidates who have failed and has set up a three-member committee to look into what has gone wrong.

Though this free re-evaluation and outburst of students and parents is just a knee jerk reaction for technical failures, the issue of suicides is much larger than we can imagine.

The pressure put on these students especially in the twin states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh is so high that there have been many suicides in the past too. The students from private colleges are made to study for 16 to 18 hours a day. Forget recreation, they won’t even have time for having food and daily things.

It is high time parents, society and governments to rethink on the education system and bring down the stress we put in young minds in the garb of competition.

The National Human rights commission has taken the issue as suo motu based on the media reports and served notice to the chief secretary of the state of Telangana and asked to revert within four weeks.

Election 2019 and the 3rd Battle of Panipat – BJP has learnt lessons from history – by Shalin S Divatia

0

In January 2019, BJP President Amit Shah exhorted his part workers to ensure that the outcome of the Lok Sabha elections of 2018 was not like the Third Battle of Panipat.

Panipat as a battlefield has favoured the invading forces in each of the three battles fought there. However, the outcome of Election 2019 will be different, as is indicated by an understanding of the circumstances and situations leading to the Third Battle of Panipat and Elections 2019, respectively.

First, the leadership into battle. Maratha General Sadashivrao (Bhau) had little knowledge of North India. His next in command, Vishwasrao, the heir apparent to the then Peshwa, was a 20-year old lad, with not enough experience of actual battle. In contrast the victorious Afghans led by Ahmed Shah Abdali, had experienced commanders from the Punjab who were well acquainted with the region and its politics.

BJP is led by the very senior and experienced Narendra Modi and Amit Shah and supported by a galaxy of state leaders like Yogi Adityanath, Devendra Fadnavis, Shivraj Singh Chohan, etc. The Congress campaign is single-handedly run by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, whose political careers have been helicoptered without any grassroot experience.

Second and most important, was building the right alliances. Sadavshivrao Bhau, though courageous, was a brash personality lacking in diplomacy. His behaviour put off and was therefore, unable to obtain the support of the Rajputs and the Jats, who were his natural allies against the Afghans, and who remained neutral. In contrast Abdali managed to get local support by deftly persuading the Nawab of Avadh to join him on the grounds of religion. This, in spite of the Nawab’s own mother, advising him to support the Marathas who had helped and treated them well.

Modi-Shah team, very wisely, made peace with Shiv Sena in Maharashtra and Nitish Kumar in Bihar, in spite of having to make significant concessions. This not only bolstered the BJP chances in those states by preventing the division of votes, but also created the perception and momentum for the BJP getting the necessary numbers in the Lok Sabha. This in turn ensured that other smaller allies also fell in line, like the Apna Dal in UP and the LJP in Bihar.

The Congress is bereft of any allies. The bonhomie between the Mahagathbandhan seen post Karnataka assembly elections has vanished. Worse, the infighting between the coalition partners in Karnataka, Congress and JD(S) cast a big question mark on Congress’s ability to run a stable and cohesive government at the Centre.  Inability to come to a tie-up with Kejriwal, will cost the Congress seats in Delhi. The anti-BJP camp which  are now at war with each other, because of personal ambitions and rivalries.

Modi’s nomination paper filing at Varanasi was a show of unity of the NDA partners, whereas Rahul Gandhi’s nominations were filed in the company of his immediate family members.

Third, having a fighting fit army without unnecessary encumbrances. The Maratha army of approximately 40,000 plus cavalry and infantry, was accompanied by a large number of non-combatants (including women and pilgrims wanting safe darshan of the holy sites in North India).  The combatant to non- combatant ratio was 1:4 by many accounts. This bogged down the movement of the Maratha army apart from putting the additional burden of having to feed and protect the elderly pilgrims and other non-combatants.

Fast forward 2019 – the BJP leadership has been ruthless in its selection of candidates. All those who did not have the potential to contribute to victory or were not part of the larger scheme of things for the future of the BJP government or the growth of the party were denied tickets. Super seniors like L K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi were axed. Tickets were also denied to all sitting MPs of Chhattisgarh and to many sitting MPs in various states, notwithstanding howls of protests. Merit and the future outlook played a role in candidate selection – young and articulate lawyer Tejas Surya  got the look-in over the widow of the late Union Minister Anant Kumar Hedge in Bangalore. Definitely a motivation for the cadre.

A stark contrast when one looks at the Congress candidates, same old faces, dynastic choices. Look at Jodhpur Lok Sabha seat, CM Ashok Gehlot utilising all his energies trying to ensure victory for his son Vaibhav, and almost ignoring the rest of Rajasthan.

Fourth, ensuring adequate logistical support and supplies when away from one’s own base. Having antagonised the Hindu kings and even sections of the local population in the North of India by their attitude and behaviour, the Marathas did not receive any support for logistic and supplies of food, fodder, etc. This made their task of running a long-drawn campaign much harder. In  the days preceding the fateful day of 14th January 1761, the Marathas were on the verge of starvation due to lack of food and fodder. In contrast, the tie-up with the Nawab of Avadh ensured the supplies and local support for Abdali.

BJP is however at power in the Centre and in various states and hence placed in a far better position than the Congress, in terms of resources needed to sustain an intense all India campaign. Its organisational strength well supported by the RSS cadre outclasses that of the Congress.

Lastly, the Marathas did not play to their strengths. Abdali had a larger army and heavy artillery whereas Marathas has Ibrahim Gardi’s light artillery. Therefore, in spite of their courage and bravery on the battlefield, Marathas were on weaker position in frontal battle on the plains. They did not use their famed swift guerrilla tactics to harass Abdali who could not have indefinitely sustained a campaign in an alien land.

BJP, however, is making full use of the goodwill generated by it various welfare schemes like Ujjwala, Electricity for All, Direct Benefit Transfer, etc.  It has also emphasised its ability to take a strong stance when national security is concerned. The Balakot air strikes have been showcased as an example of Modi’s strong and decisive leadership. This has been appreciated by the masses, as much as it has been deprecated by Modi’s opponents.

All in all, one can fairly conclude that Election 2019 shall be a victory for the BJP. Amit Shah can rest assured that it shall not be a “Panipat” for the Indic – nationalistic forces.
