Regionalism vs Nationalism

Is regionalism a threat to nationalism?

Modi-Shah did not know that a good proportion of Hindu Bengali of West Bengal would prefer to align with Muslim Bengali of Bangladesh than with Hindus of Bihar and UP.

It would hardly be an exaggeration to say that India does not live like a nation. Rather she lives like a multinational nation where the smaller nations are system less, capital less and in emotional marriage with a quasi-self-actualization approach.

If nationalism did not have a worthwhile place in a polity, no country would have thought it fit to have National anthem of their own and take pride in singing it.

Nationalism when we invoke and the ethos of one India when we kindle, such a move is only meant to protect and encourage the diversity and not to destroy it.

The fear of outsiders and how they can be used to stoke nativism among local population has been used time and again to hide failures of government.

The success of the BJP in WB and K'taka in improving its vote share illustrates that there is a substantial section of the population which is fed up of such “regionalism”.
