Savarkar is wrongly credited or criticized for introducing the concept of ethnocentric Hindutva in India. It was Chandranath Basu (1844-1910), a Bengali litterateur, who first coined the term Hindutva in 1892 in his writing.
Ambedkar’s analysis is perfect, for it is not only the beginning, but can far surpass anything that vocal elements could proffer today. For he beat them all with his intellect.
From our childhood till adult we were taught that his name was B.R Ambedkar or Babasaheb Ambedkar, but why not RAMJI? Because RAMJI didn’t fit in the narrative of those so called secular historians and parties.
If the left leaning Dalits are not comfortable with an inclusive Hindutva project that makes space for subalterns, how will they work with the monochromatic one god-one scripture-one path Islam without any fear of losing their fiercely guarded identity & autonomy?
