“Secular Coffee”: Life of a Tea Enthusiast

0

In India, some coffee brands are causing health issues thus people are angry about coffee makers which indeed is promoting bad words of mouth. This is not accepted by the coffee enthusiasts in the country, though they know the harmful substance which is causing the problem. They are in auto denial mode. They fear that some day consumption of coffee will be banned and Tea will get promoted. They are saying due to few brands why all the brands are getting negatively rated in the market. They are arguing that tea also caused death in Hambantota and Mogadishu few days back, the Harappa civilization had also get destroyed due to tea etc. They are doing their every bit of effort to neutralize the things as they say they don’t believe in GENERALIZATION. No doubt, from a distance of 1.20³ Light years it is a valid point.

On the other hand, tea enthusiasts are having problem with coffee enthusiasts because they think they both are in the same league but coffee makers are cutting the road for tea industry by creating a negative impact on the mind of people by bad drinks. They believe the problem with coffee may get spread to tea and they will eventually end up getting fired from the market. Their points are, why don’t the coffee enthusiasts speak against the bad brands?, why they always get involved in defending their sins?. This is too a valid point.

A few days later, this time Tea caused some minor gastritis problem. Next day in TV, social media, foreign news papers, international airports, International Space Station, Mars, Proxima Centauri, Andromeda, everywhere article published and prime time shows were organised by the Coffee makers to give gyan about Tea and its evil effects. They forgot to have any mercy for the emotions of tea enthusiasts. They left no stone unturned to defame a century old Tea industry which has been regarded as the life saver for long.

In some other news, a person called ‘Generalization‘ teleported to Wuhan (Somewhere in China) as all the modes of transportation are closed due to recent Corona Virus outbreak and silently took his last breath.

Effects of COVID-19 on economy

0

In December last year, reports started to emerge that a coronavirus that specialists had never before seen in humans had begun to spread among the population of Wuhan, a large city in the Chinese province of Hubei. Since then, the virus has spread to other countries, both inside and outside Asia, leading the World Health Organization (WHO) to declare this as a pandemic.

To date, the novel coronavirus — currently dubbed severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) — has been responsible for more than 2.5 million infections globally, causing over 177,000 deaths. The United States is the most affected country.

A brief introduction of COVID19:-

SARS-CoV-2 is a coronavirus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that target and affect mammals’ respiratory systems. According to their specific characteristics, there are four main ranks, or genera, of coronavirus: alpha, beta, delta, and gamma. Only two coronaviruses have previously caused global outbreaks. The first of these was the SARS coronavirus — responsible for severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) — which first started spreading back in 2002, also in China. The SARS virus epidemic primarily affected the populations of mainland China and Hong Kong, and it died off in 2003. The other one was the MERS coronavirus — responsible for Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) — which emerged in Saudi Arabia in 2012. This virus has affected at least 2,494 people since then.

Effect on world economy: –

1). Share market takes a hit

  • Big shifts in stock markets, where shares in companies are bought and sold, can affect the value of pensions or individual savings accounts (ISAs).
  • Investors fear the spread of the coronavirus will destroy economic growth and that government action may not be enough to stop the decline.
  • In response, central banks in many countries, including the United Kingdom, slashed interest rates. That should, in theory, make borrowing cheaper and encourage spending to boost the economy. Global markets did also recover some ground in late March after the US Senate passed a $2 trillion (£1.7tn) coronavirus aid bill to help workers and businesses.

2). Rise in unemployment: In the United States, the number of people filing for unemployment hit a record high, signalling an end to a decade of expansion for one of the world’s largest economies. Close to one million people in the United Kingdom also applied for benefits in just two weeks at the end of March

3). Crash in oil prices: Demand for oil has all but dried up as lockdowns across the world have kept people inside. The crude oil price had already been affected by a row between OPEC, the group of oil producers, and Russia. Coronavirus has driven the price down further. Brent crude is the benchmark used by Europe and the rest of the world. Its price dipped below $20, to the lowest level seen in 18 years. In the United States, the price of a barrel of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) turned negative for the first time in history. Although OPEC and other countries have now agreed to cut production, the world still has more crude oil than it can use.

4). Risk of recession: If the economy is growing, that generally means more wealth and more new jobs. It’s measured by looking at the percentage change in gross domestic product, or the value of goods and services produced, typically over three months or a year. But the International Monetary Fund (IMF) says that the global economy will shrink by 3% this year.

The IMF described the decline as the worst since the Great Depression of the 1930s. Although it said that the coronavirus has plunged the world into a “crisis like no other”, it does expect global growth to rise to 5.8% next year if the pandemic fades in the second half of 2020.

5). Travel took the huge toll: The travel industry has been badly damaged, with airlines cutting flights and customers cancelling business trips and holidays. Governments around the world have introduced travel restrictions to try to contain the virus. The EU banned travelers from outside the bloc for 30 days in an unprecedented move to seal its borders because of the coronavirus crisis in March.

In the US, the Trump administration has banned travellers from European airports from entering the US. Data from the flight tracking service Flight Radar 24 shows that the number of flights globally has taken a huge hit.

Effect on Indian economy:

The economic impact of the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic in India has been hugely disruptive. World Bank and credit rating agencies have downgraded India’s growth for fiscal year 2021 with the lowest figures India has seen in three decades since India’s economic liberalization in the 1990. However, the International Monetary Fund projection for India for the financial year 2021-22 of 1.9% GDP growth is the highest among G-20 nations.

The Indian economy is expected to lose over ₹32,000 crore (US$4.5 billion) every day during the first 21-days of complete lockdown which was declared following the coronavirus outbreak. Up to 53% of businesses in the country will be significantly affected. Supply chains have been put under stress with the lockdown restrictions in place; initially there was a lack of clarity in streamlining what is an “essential” and what isn’t.[10] Those in the informal sectors and daily wage groups are the most at risk. Major companies in India such as Larsen and Toubro, Bharat Forge, UltraTech Cement, Grasim Industries, Aditya Birla Group, Tata Motors and Thermax have temporarily suspended or significantly reduced operations. iPhone producing companies in India have also suspended a majority of operations. Young start-ups have been impacted as funding has fallen.

Some defence deals have been affected/delayed due to the pandemic such as the delivery of Dassault Rafael fighter jets. Stock markets in India posted their worst loses in history on 23 March 2020.[16] However, on 25 March, one day after a complete 21 day lockdown was announced by the Prime Minister, SENSEX and NIFTY posted their biggest gains in 11 years, adding a value of ₹4.7 lakh crore (US$66 billion) crore to investor wealth.

The Government of India has announced a variety of measures to tackle the situation, from food security and extra funds for healthcare, to sector related incentives and tax deadline extensions. On 27 March the Reserve Bank of India also announced a number of measures which would make available ₹374,000 crore (US$52 billion) to the country’s financial system. On 29 March the government allowed the movement of all essential as well as non-essential goods during the lockdown.[20] On 1 April, World Bank approved $1 bn in support to India to tackle the coronavirus pandemic. On 3 April the central government released more funds to the states for tackling the coronavirus totalling to ₹28,379 crore (US$4.0 billion). On 6 April a 30% salary cut for one year was announced for the President, Prime Minister and Members of Parliament.

How to stop Islamophobia

0

Every community has two kinds of people, good and bad. The ratio of the good vs the bad is almost similar in every community, say, 10% of all are bad. So, why is that, we hear so much of Islamophobia around the world. First, let’s get the meaning of Islamophobia correctly. Everyone has their own definition, this is mine. Handful radical Islamists and terrorist belonging to Islam spread hate, but people label it on every Muslim. They just paint Islam as the cause of entire hate and violence in the world to such extent that this starts affecting their daily lifestyle. They’ll see a Islamic domestic helper with suspicion, they don’t rent homes to Muslim students and sometimes even discriminate in giving employment even when the person is capable. This is my definition of Islamophobia.

Now that we have got, their point of view, let’s get perspective of an honest Muslim. A Muslim who pays taxes, work with diligence and takes care of his family’s needs, sees people turning heads when he has his cap on. He sees people at the airport suspecting him for rehearsing his holy chants. He sees people being rude to him for no reason at all. And worst of all when someone calls him a terrorist. Obviously that is unfair to him and his family. He sees the same amount of people in other communities putting probably the same level of garbage in the society but they don’t get discriminated against. Thus, he believes Islamophobia is real, there is no other explanation left.

Now the real question, as a muslim, can that person make the world realise that islam has given so many good people to the world. Can he make them realise Islam is known for its rich art and creativity not for hate and terrorism. The answer is yes, yes he can. And you’ll be surprised to know how simple that is. All he needs to do is speak up. Wait not against Islamophobia, that’s what everyone is trying but not helping that much, in some cases even making the situation worse. We don’t kill the devil by taking it head on, we kill it by killing it’s source of power. He needs to speak up against the 10% population of his community. He needs to constantly check himself that he is standing against someone who spreads violence killing innocents, and someone who gives hate speeches of separatism. This doesn’t mean, he has to ignore and stay silent on wrong doings of people in other communities. He just needs to be rational, say what’s wrong is wrong no matter what community the culprit belongs to. When this 10% gets separated from the community, there are no bad people left in the community. Good changes can only come from inside the community. Other communities also need to follow this, but maybe they already are to a decent extent that there are no other phobias of community.

You might be thinking that why should we highlight malpractices of our community, but no you are only speaking against the person not the community. Soon, the world will know these 90% of good people of Islam, and when they realise the volume of their kindness, they’ll stop labelling the community with violence and hatred. Why should we do it first, why not them? This question can never be answered but I feel the one with the greater heart always takes the first step towards long standing peace.

Your silence is assumed to be supporting the 10% people, and that will continue to happen because that is human nature, we assume what we don’t see. Your voice will bring good to Islam and the world. Soon, there will be only two communities left in this world 90% good and 10% bad, and as soon as that happens the 10% would extinct.

Just so if you’re wondering who is writing this thought, don’t care about that. Try to see if what I’m saying is correct or not. I don’t want your bias based on my name and nationality.

Once Upon a Time in the West या A Fistful of Dollars जैसी फिल्मों तक पहुंच पाते।

Study of Indian economy: Challenges & opportunities in the post-COVID scenario

0

The emerging scenario in the light of COVID-19 pandemic affecting the entire world is fast changing. Even as we discuss how the post-COVID world will be, the world has already changed a lot from where it was and what we have seen just a couple of months ago. Human lifestyle, interaction in the society, our ideas of bare minimum requirements, our prejudices and preconceived notions about various things have undergone a great change.

Economy as such is not different. Economy is an important part of human life. Business models, workplaces, attitude towards long standing economic dispositions and the scale & means of transactions have changed all of a sudden. There was a meme being circulated on social media – it has 3 pictures: The CEO of the Company, the CTO of the Company and the picture of Coronavirus. The meme humorously asks as to who brought about the digital transformation in the company? Well, we have seen that many firms, companies and industries who never thought that they could carry all their work on internet, have witnessed that most of their operations are now seamlessly being carried online. “Work from Home” is the new normal. Even on the social aspect, the “Home Stay” (or the so-called Lockdown) has increased the interaction among family members through mobile applications and online platforms. People are moving less, yet more connected.

The ways of trade & commerce, the long-standing ideas of economy and established business stereotypes will all change in the coming days. Currently the major shift in the economy has been from the “needless or excess spending” to the more “conservative or need based spending”. People’s approach is “savings based” rather than “expense/consumption based”. Naturally, all those industries that sustained on “consumption based” economic model have seen a drastic decline in revenues. These industries will continue to see a slump even in the post-Covid economic scenario, as people will curtail unnecessary movement and expenditure. The classical example for this case is of the Malls and Multiplexes. People now prefer to buy local from the store across the street. Watching movies & serials online (Amazon, Netflix etc) and re-visiting the yesteryear hits in movies & serials on the television (through Door darshan and like channels) is the new normal. Therefore, technology has enabled a major change in our lifestyles and continue to play a pivotal role in shaping our economy and our lives.

There was notion in the 1990s (the era of globalisation) that high raised buildings, excess industrial production and creating millions of jobs in industries that banked on artificial consumption were means to economic prosperity. Then again, during the 2008-09 sub-prime economic crisis in the USA, the then Indian Government took some important measures which would dreadfully impact the India’s roadmap for the years to come. From 2008-2014, the then UPA Government encouraged banks to give away too many loans (beyond accepted levels) without proper scrutiny and accountability. In an interview to Economic Times on 14th October 2018, Late Shri Arun Jaitley, the former Finance Minister of India had said thus, “In the last 10 years, the banking sector has seen two distinct regimes of regulatory and legal framework. The first can be termed as a ‘lending regime without accountability’ that started in the last days of UPA-1 and was almost coterminous with UPA-2 (2008-14)”.

This unreasonable lending of loans led to the temporary patch up of the economy (post sub-prime crisis) by artificially induced demand. The excess production led to the increased industrial & GDP growth upto 2015. Since, 2016 when the artificially induced demand balloon blew up, all the excess production capacities and stock lying with the industries went waste. This is seen in the height of automobile demand in 2009-10 with a growth rate of 10% in the industry, to a very meek and low demand today.

Companies in such a scenario saw slump in revenues and could not repay the loans that they earlier borrowed from banks. Today, Indian banks are over-burdened with NPAs & bad loans.

The independence of India in 1947 was a golden opportunity to start a new beginning. Even in case of the economy – it was an opportunity to see something new. We failed in this sense that we never undertook to develop any economic model of our own. Initially we started off with a non-alignment movement which portrayed our inability to stand with anything. It had no vision of its own. After this, we adopted the soviet model of socialism. And all of sudden in 1990s (although we had no other option then as an immediate measure) we simply signed all the forced globalisation treaties (vide WTO). Till now, we have never ventured to develop our own economic model, more suitable for our land, our people and our society. This Coronavirus pandemic is an opportunity in disguise for us to start a new beginning in all walks of life including fostering a new Bharatiya model of Economics.

There are two problems our economy is facing right now. One is the liquidity crunch caused by the lockdown. This is a temporary problem and the Government is monitoring this situation from time to time. This will majorly wear out once the Lockdown eases. However, if the Government wants to print and pump in more money to the Banks, then the Banks will lend loans to Companies who will in turn make profits and hoard the money in their reserves. This is not desirable! Instead, if the Government prints money it must invest this money in :-

  1. Rural Infrastructure
  2. Social Forestry

Migrant labourers and unemployed youth in villages can be paid a monthly fixed salary or stipend and they can be used develop rural infrastructure and also revive lakes, rivers and to increase forest cover in villages. With majority of Indians now being part of the banking system though the JAM (Jandhan Aadhar Mobile) Yojana direct bank transfer will not cause any hindrance. This will have a threefold positive impact: –

  1. Migrant labourers will stay in their own villages and the problem of high population density in cities will be solved.
  2. Unemployed youth in villages are employed. Their spending through the income they earn will further strengthen the consumption in our economy.
  3. Our villages will become more dynamic with better infrastructure and also, we will be contributing in making our country cleaner & greener.

The second problem is the one discussed earlier in length – our approach being reactionary rather then being visionary. Here I try to propose a few of my thoughts and ideas that can have a path-breaking change in our economy in the medium and long term (say between 3-5 years).

How does a nation become wealthy or poor?

With the money in circulation being equal, no one can become rich beyond a point (unless there is transaction of import & export). We have too much inflow of foreign capital (money) into Indian markets and consequent outflow of profits. Further, too many Indians are travelling abroad for tourism and studies. An article published in economic times on 30th of January 2019, citing the UN World Tourism Organisation data suggests that a whopping 50 million (5 crores) Indians would travel in 2019 (2017 data recorded that nearly 3 crore Indians travelled abroad for tourism). The money that can be kept in Indian banks, if it is spent in Euros, Pounds, Dinars or Dollars, it becomes the money of that country. That much of money is cut off from circulation in our economy. The more money we deposit in Indian banks, the more money will the banks have to lend for Indian businesses and Indian infrastructure. Europe, Middle East, South East Asia and America is making a lot of money with Indians travelling and going abroad for studies. Billions & billions of rupees go into a dead investment in another currency.

If some country is becoming richer by the day, it means either it is printing money (artificial swelling) or becoming richer at the cost of excess spending of one or more other countries.

Solutions :

  1. We must invest hugely on domestic infrastructure in education sector. More and more institutions of eminence must be set up on priority. People from the respective villages can be used to set an infrastructure with a ‘Government, Corporate & Community funding’ concept (or say PPP – Public Private People Partnership). The idea must be to attract students to study in India with a world class infrastructure. Next step (10 years vision) must be to attract foreign students to Indian Universities.
Employability through Universities is another important factor. There is perceived notion among the youth that they will be employed in highly paid jobs after their admission & completion of courses in foreign Universities say in Europe or in USA. Their perception may be true to a great extent. In contrast to this established thought process, we must ensure that our Universities are in sink with the industry requirements. The overall course design and the networking of our universities must be such that one who graduates must be equipped with practical and life skills making him fit for the job market. Parallelly, universities must nurture the spirit of entrepreneurship among the students. With high emphasis on research & enterprise in our University courses, students will be encouraged to enrol in Indian Universities.
Quality of education, curriculum and pedagogy are other aspects that need to be addressed which I will not venture to address in this paper.
  2. We must increase domestic tourism. Too much of importance has been given to a handful of monuments in India. The wonders of Bharatiya Shilpa shastra (architecture) and the rich & diverse natural beauty of Bharat needs more aggressive branding. Indians get a social satisfaction in posting selfies & family pictures in Rome, in Turkey, in Grand Canyon and where not? This social prestige must shift, and people must take pride in taking pictures with the scenic background of Himalayas or the western Ghats, or the beautiful temple architecture of the yesteryear’s etc. The lesser we (the people of India) spend in foreign tourism, the better it is for Indian economy.

Desi Economics

Grama Swarajya

Mahatma Gandhi Ji’s idea of Grama Swarajya – “Economic Independence of Villages” has long been ignored. It is now time to implement it. Agriculture, rural infrastructure and cottage industry (household businesses like textile, toy making, Agri-based home industries etc.) deserve much more attention than it is given today. Villages are not just the backbone of our economy, but also distinguishing identity of Bharatiya ethos – our culture. Focus must be directed towards developing rural infrastructure and economic empowerment of villages. Increased rural connectivity through roads (i.e. road within the villages and roads connecting villages with highways), a home for all in villages and supply of electricity and water to all homes – this is the need of the hour.

Going desi

Be Indian, buy Indian! We must instil a social prestige in buying Indian goods and a social stigma towards foreign goods. Although this idea may sound narrow at the outset, this is much needed at this juncture. Not only this, we must also aim to become net exporters across sectors. Indian rupee must stay in India and we must not buy foreign products, services or currency wherever possible. Our society must take up this challenge. Government must enable this movement by nurturing the right environment for an indigenous production, marketing and consumption system. From Farm to factory to our homes – the raw materials, capital goods, production techniques & process, products & services and the supply chain system – everything must be Indian. Further, quality of product or service is also of equal importance. People may not buy any product or service just because it is Indian without the required standards of quality, durability and usability. Pride in buying Indian goods & extremely high standards of quality must both go hand in hand.

Inter alia, one of the major imports we make are the capital goods. Capital Goods are used by industries in manufacturing. Can our business giants manufacture these capital goods in-house? This is a point to ponder!

Global Business of Bharat

This is yet another important step in boosting our economy – setting up Indian businesses outside India. We have done this in the past up to the 15th century (Angus Maddison’s book “World Economy: A millennium perspective confirms this with data & statistical study). Once again, we need to venture out, explore, take risk and set up businesses abroad. To start off, we must first become self-sustaining economy and then export our excess capacities and products. If we sell rupees and buy foreign currency, it must be invested in a business abroad and profits must be repatriated in Indian Rupees back to India. Foreign currency must not be spent abroad for any other purposes unless extremely necessary. This is a resolve that we Indians must take at least for the coming 10 years.

Our economy is experiencing a challenging phase since 2016. The Corona Virus pandemic is an added burden to our economy & our people. But we must take this challenge as an opportunity to turn tables and march ahead towards a bright future. Our economics must be more benevolent, it must not just benefit our people but also we must be in an advantageous position to help others (as we have done in many situations helping people come out of Yemen during the war times or sharing our HCQ stocks during this pandemic phase etc). We have seen nations that have leveraged their economic and/or military power to push their expansionist or exclusivist agendas. Bharat can be an illustrious example in showing the world that economic might can be used for the benefit of humanity at large.

The situation we are now facing is nothing but an opportunity in disguise!

Hand sanitization, use of mask may kill ‘herd immunity’, grant free pass to coronavirus?

The medical suggestions and medical instructions to general public should not be seen as an exercise where the instructions are plucked directly from the classic textbooks and then gifts same to people during pandemic as ‘holy gospel’. Instead all such instructions must fit perfectly into the context; after due understanding of the context where it has to be followed. Otherwise all such instructions may produce more adverse possibilities than any beneficial effect.

The context refers to the diversity, population dynamics in India, social and cultural behaviour, health awareness; emergency preparedness of the government, economic status and many other factors such as how life and livelihood are intermingled and how people can be forced to follow all such norms by pushing their livelihood under permanent peril.

The divine orders prescribed therein by our ‘Lord community’ to ordinary mortal beings to follow are frequent hand wash or hand sanitization, wear mask, social distancing etc. No sensible citizen would mock down all the above instructions. But the larger question is have we followed due process of scientific understanding that is operating in India before giving such sermon.

The research work done by the scientists and medical experts from the University of California and then published in British Journal of Dermatology in the year 2008 under the title “Skin Microbiota: a source of disease or defence?” provides plethora of evidences on how the holy instruction of our Lordly people to prevent coronavirus spread such as hand wash, use of mask, social distancing etc., can defeat our innate immunity progressively.

At the end we may become SCID mice, worth to live only inside sterile chamber, can eat only well sterilized food, can breathe only sterilized air, can even talk only to people who are otherwise another SCID mice.

The other side of the ironically is that, the same medical fraternity or the Lordly people only have imported the term ‘herd’ immunity and brought the same to the centre stage of discussion; with the suggestion that, we must bank on herd immunity and the herd immunity alone can save us because a full proof medicine or vaccine is far from sight.

Social distancing, frequent hand sanitization, use of mask and the so called herd immunity paradigm always stands as two parallel lines, like in mathematics, in medical science also, the two parallel lines shall never meet or at best may at infinity.

However we must appreciate and follow the above bizarre contradiction instead of being resilient, contemplative or complaining about the divine order issued by our divine people.

Let us first decode what is herd immunity. Most of us would have heard at least, the term, herd immunity.

It is like how our spiritual leaders would spontaneously recall destiny and the theory of karma or previous birth when they could not explain certain questions or incidents in our life, the medical fraternity also would use the phrase ‘herd immunity’ if they could not explain why certain people or population doesn’t get infected or are reasonably protected or show least susceptibility towards certain diseases or otherwise are at high risk. Immediately the answer would come, that is ‘herd immunity’.

Scientifically herd immunity cannot be tested or validated either its existence or its origin like destiny and karma, the theory of cause and effect.

The immunity that we develop mostly is from the way we live.

Most of the microbes in our skin including in our hands are non-pathogenic but they frequently remind and familiarize our defence mechanism to be ready to fight when a pathogen enters. Further, as a thanks giving gesture, all those non-pathogenic microbes that harbour and harvest over our skin, mucus membrane, intestine etc., also will not give up their identity or space to a pathogen so easily; even if the pathogen is so deadly.

That is why several pathogens take reasonable period of time to cause infection from their date of entry into a new host.  Such harmless microbes constantly entertain our immune defence and provide regular drill and preparedness to our cluster differentiation cells (CD). When we forcefully and continuously evict all such harmless, otherwise necessary microbes through frequent hand sanitization, wearing mask and following social distancing, are we not going to kill ‘herd immunity’? In other words, are we not issuing ‘frisk free’ pass to novel coronavirus to entire into our system?

The possible chance of a microbe fighting against a new invader microbes and those frequently service our immune defence mechanism, are we not destroying by the above gospel instruction?

What protects Indian is our immunity whereas the western world is protected largely by their medical care and treatment advancement.

Today every country are fighting for their identity, be it US under Republican Donald Trump or UK under Borris Johnson’s Brexit exit to keep the identity of UK or Modi who wants to reforest entire India with only one species of political culture called Hindutwa.

Should we then not recognise the truth that by frequent hand or hand sanitization, use of mask and following social distancing, we are likely to lose our native microbe population in our hand and skin? When we knock out or exile our native skin microbiota, the alien is going to celebrate such event. Are we so fooling in serving the above such instructions?

The point of discussion is not about following health and hygiene practices, which are needed, the deterring fact is only the thrust for overdoing, in the name of protection.

Every country has to customize its treatment and scientific approaches. Even science is not one size fit all gown.

The high susceptibility of western population to novel coronavirus also may be due to the lack of ‘microbe soldiers’ in their system. But in India, microbe soldiers only may be present in corona war than our real immunity; due to poverty, starvation, mal-nourishment, poor hygiene, substandard drinking water quality, high pollution, dilapidated living conditions, dense community arrangement etc.

The point of argument is not the continuation of what and how India is but it is about how our ‘Lordly people’ can give such esoteric sermons to poor people to fight coronavirus by forcefully evicting those already born with us to protect us from invading pathogen.

We are focusing more upon how to treat the patient and how to prevent the spread than about the pathogen and its competition with abundant microbes that cohabitate in each one of us.

Let us not remain arboreal or reside in ivory tower and then sermon instructions from text book without understanding the ground reality, life and livelihood.

At the end all such instructions would become ‘GOD’ and only those who have divine eyes and vision can see and follow the GOD and not the ordinary mortal being.

Sometimes we ought to do nothing!

A quote often used as a reference, given by Charles Darwin in the origin of species “It is not the strongest or the most intelligent of the species that survive but the ones that are most adaptable to change” it holds true at a time like this where we as people should adapt to the new change in our lives to just simply survive.

When someone asks you this question, ‘If you had the power to take a decision on fighting Covid-19, what would you do?’ You or I or anybody for that matter would easily say ‘we are commoners but if I worked for the government then I would train and deploy more doctors to treat people, give them protective gears and more supplies, be more strict on the curfew, help the homeless, help with the essential supplies, so on and so forth’. But, Do you think this is our first struggle? No! We always had one thing or another. The only difference is, this is our struggle together. Because, it’s not you versus me or him versus her. It is we versus an entity, the virus.

But, let me tell you something. Nobody needs to be at the top of the Pyramid to have power. Who says that only our president, Prime minister, chief minister or for that matter only all of the officials have power?

Every single person in our country has the power within him. We live because of the power we have. Power to overcome hurdles, power to face our struggles, power to simply wake up everyday and be better than who were yesterday. The power is within us. And sometimes, there is a lot of power in doing just nothing. In this context, it simply means being responsible and kind enough to stay indoors. Am sure everyone has heard of the “Domino Effect” where one event sets off a chain reaction and that is what we need to avoid.

We are all heroes who could save ourselves and someone else by just being indoors, trying to be productive and trying to make a difference. Instead we crib. We used to crib that we need to go to work and work at odd hours and now we crib that we are always at home and its difficult. We used to crib about meeting friends and relatives and now we can’t wait to see them. We always cribbed about school or college and now we can’t wait to get back. Cribbing has become our inherent nature and we have accepted that to be the norm. And that’s where we miserably failed. We never respected and understood the importance of sanitation workers until this instant. We never understood the kindness of some of these officers who stay on the roads just so we can stay safe indoors. We never bothered about the small shops selling basic essentials when we wandered off towards fancy supermarkets. I think in our journey towards materialistic things, we lost sight of what is important. Our basic humanity! . But, now we could still adapt. We could contribute whatever we can from wherever we are. Be it help your neighbor, help the needy, feed the strays, do your part by working from home or learning new things. Infact, we humans are never satisfied. We were always running towards something that it has become difficult for us to take a moment and stay still.

And that is something worth pondering over.
