Saad Ashfaq Ansari, a resident of Bhiwandi, was thrashed by the members of the Muslim community after his social media post, supporting Nupur Sharma, went viral.
According to the police, a mob gathered outside Ansari’s house and forced him to come out of his residence and made him read a Kalma. To mark the community’s strong disagreement, Ansari was brutally thrashed.
Thane police arrested Ansari on the grounds of allegedly supporting suspended BJP leader, Nupur Sharma, who has lately become an eye of a global political storm. The complaint was lodged by one Faraz Fazal Bahaudding alias Baba.
Ansari has been booked under Section 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence) of the Indian Penal Code.
A police officer said, “The security of the area has been beefed up to avoid any kind of untoward incident and we have also initiated action against the mob for assaulting the man.”
The grave consequences, that Saad Ansari had to face was a part of the strong disgust that the Muslim community has shown, after former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson, Nupur Sharma, quoted a line of Prophet Muhammad, from Islamic religious texts.
The police of a secular country with freedom of speech, is legally, detaining, a man who dare express his views in support of a Hindu who spoke facts.
