The southern oddballs: Can BJP win Tamil Nadu and Kerala like WB?

The two South Indian states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu have always kept up a dubious (?) distinction as being atypical or non-conformist, especially when it comes to a common pan-India narrative or discourse. The admirers call it ‘whimsically free-spirited’ and of ‘rebellious nature’. Those who are not amused with this eccentric, bizarre characteristic, on the other hand, see them as being out of sync. It’s as though they are always paying tributes to each other in bucking the national trend that makes them swim against the mainstream flow. Even in the latest electoral Armageddon they have, somehow, managed to keep this ‘distinction’ intact.

When India that is Bharat overwhelmingly embraced Narendra Modi and his Bharatiya Janata Party as its own, these two states behaved like the flightless Ostrich with its head sunk deep in the sand. Or, in a higher philosophical sense, like the prisoners in Plato’s infamous cave who are not allowed to go out and see the way the outside world lived and behaved. Otherwise notorious for flaunting their political hypertrophy, these two Dravidian states seemed to Cock a Snook at the rest of the country while expressing their preferences in the latest parliamentary elections. And this is anything but a one-off case with the ‘Madrasi’ cousins. They have always shown a palpable disdain for the rest of the country’s democratic and demographic behaviour and its popular inclinations, including its electoral choices. It’s as though they want to prove that they are not part of the ‘mainstream’ political discourse, but an alternative to the same.

The starkest example of this ‘contrariety’ or antipodal attitude first became evident during the Emergency in the mid-1970s. While Mrs Indira Gandhi’s short but deeply debilitating attempt at dictatorship evoked volatile but largely implosive, animosity across most of the country, these two southern states, far from being resentful, actually seemed to endorse the regime for all its make-believe ‘positivities’. Ever since, these people otherwise known for their fabled history of enlightenment and free democratic spirit, have been living in self-denial and lasting infamy, with little remorse or regret, ever expressed.

But even as I read out these charges to both the accused, I tend to be fair to the Tamils as against my own fellow-natives, the Malayalees, for what I consider to be valid reasons. Frankly, I think the former should be allowed to get away with a mild reprimand, or at the worst, a rap on the knuckles, while the latter should get neither levity nor leverage. Let me explain. While the Tamils have a fig leaf of an excuse to cover their collective shame, the Malayalees, alas, have no such facility. The Tamilian ‘excuse’ is that more than participating in a parliamentary election, like the rest of the country, they were actually making their informed choice between two schools of Dravidian identity; two interpretations of their idea of self-respect, later came to be recognized as Dravidian nationalism. If the pan-national alliance politics introduced two external factors such as the Congress and the BJP into what was an all Dravidian matrix, it’s not a Tamil problem, that is, they are not to blame.

It’s merely collateral or incidental baggage that the two Tamil parties, the DMK and the AIADMK, were being generous to carry for non-selfish reasons. It’s sheer happenstance that of the two outsiders one got to pick a better side than the other, and thus procured more seats in the electoral sweepstakes.

To wit, the Tamils’ overweening concern was not to look at the national geography and add colour and heft to the respective prospects of what they consider are two extraneous, almost outlandish, entities like the BJP and the Congress, neither of which, as they looked at it, had any bearing on their settled lives. The Tamil logic is, if the North Indians decided to tag along, they would have to bear the fruit or the brunt, depending on the throw of the dice. It just so happened that in the present case, the BJP, despite its stellar performance at the national level, got the wrong end of the stick from the Tamils while the Congress ended up basking in the borrowed glory of the DMK, the eventual winner. As for the Tamils themselves, their rejection of the AIADMK and the wholehearted acceptance of the DMK were anything but whimsical. In other words, theirs was a choice made not just on political expediency and ground reality, both of which are crucial as elections go.

But more than that, the average Tamilian voter was having to choose his representative on the strength of the comparative pedigree of the two contestants. It has always been the DMK’s claim (dubious, the rivals say) that they are the true inheritors of the idea of Tamil self-respect initiated by a Dravidian Savant called Periyar Ramaswamy Naicker. Periyar who was an uncompromising revivalist of classical Tamil culture launched the Dravidar Kazhakam (DK) a socio-political platform to promote his idea of ‘self-respect’ among the Tamils. That was his way of telling them that they were different from the rest of India, an idea which his critics interpreted later as a veiled supremacist identity. DK was the precursor of the DMK, while the AIADMK is the DMK’s breakaway group. If the DMK scooped up more seats as opposed to AIADMK’s dismal picking in the latest general elections, there is this identity factor behind it. The ‘pedigree’ that I mentioned earlier.

The DMK has always been known as a family concern of Kalaingar (scholar) Karunanidhi, a thoroughbred Tamil writer and poet of some standing. Karunanidhi began as a member of Naicker’s DK, but later walked out on his mentor and founded the DMK. The AIADMK, on the other hand, has always had an identity crisis that its critics never forget to stick in. The DMK’s breakaway group was founded by the Tamil Superstar MG Ramachandran or MGR, who was a Menon from Palghat. Like all hardworking migrant Malayalees, MGR made it big in a deeply xenophobic Tamil film industry and became an even bigger icon than his political mentor, Karunanidhi. After MGR’s death, the party was appropriated by his companion and favoured heroine, J. Jayalalitha, who was again not a thoroughbred Tamil but an Iyengar (Brahmin) from Karnataka. But she not only inherited the same aura that MGR left behind, she further burnished it with a carefully cultivated feminine divinity.

Jayalalithaa eventually became the Godmother, more or less transcending all political fault lines for the average Tamil makkal (people). So now you have two Dravidian parties of which one (the DMK) claims to be pure-bred, led by ‘true-blue’ Dravidians, while the other (AIADMK) is cross-bred. As the tipplers would prefer, one is single malt while the other is blended stuff. Over time, though, the average Tamil voter has come to accept this existentialist divide as part of life. And to be fair, he had been more or less even-handed while dispensing his political patronage, including his precious vote, alternating it between these two factions.

However, when it comes to the brass tacks, the choice between one and the other was not always as easy as it’s wished to be. As long as the two AIADMK mascots were alive, the average Tamil voter remained irresolute and vacillating between the two dispensations, especially at election times. Although both MGR and Jayalalitha were from outside the Dravidian core, their film persona had turned both of them into more than mere film icons. They were as much a part of the Tamil legacy and identity as were Karunanidhi and his family.

This time around, though, with both the AIADMK icons dead and gone, the Tamil voter found himself unburdened with divided loyalties, and could make his choice without any guilt pangs. He opted for what he considered the Single Malt. But at another level, it’s a matter of supreme irony that a winner like DMK ended up tagging Congress, a rank loser at the national level, while BJP, who is going to form the next Indian government ended up with a laggard like the AIADMK, who despite being the party in power in the state, has come a cropper at the hustings. Whoever said politics was the art of the possible knew what he was talking about.

Now, how are the Malayalees, the quintessential contrarians, going to ride their star-crossed destiny after overwhelmingly electing a disaster like Rahul Gandhi? How will they explain an almost self-destructing gambler’s instinct to put all the money on a three-legged horse and a ragtag army of losers? More on that later.

Dear Narendra Modi, Save Bengal BJP from Monirul Islam

Respected Narendra Modi Sir,

This is to kindly bring to your notice the induction of sitting TMC MLA Monirul Islam of Labhpur, to our party BJP. This has indeed been a matter of displeasure to the scores of party workers and volunteers across West Bengal.

Similar voices have also come up from parliamentary candidates as well from the state. The concerned person, Manirul, is a notorious for having openly asked TMC workers to indulge in violence.

He has also reportedly threatened Hindus for shouting “Jai Shri Ram”. A quick google search will help you find enough evidence against this person. Such people joining the party will not only hamper our image but also weaken the cause that we have worked so hard to establish in the land of Bengal.

We request your immediate intervention in this matter, and the reversal of the membership of Mr. Manirul Islam.

Jai Hind. Jai Shree Ram. Bharat mata ki jai.

Yours faithfully,
Chetan Prinja

Glamour enters dome of democracy

0

Two young members of parliament elected on TMC ticket glamorously entered the dome of democracy. They were certainly excited and curious about the parliamentary business. It was their curiosity that led them to care less about the dress they wore at the time. They did not understand that parliament is not a stage for showing color and combination but a platform to discuss the people’s causes. It was owing to this reason social media’s one user stated that Parliament is not a photo studio.

The two popular Bengali actresses wore pants and tops which caused social media users to react sharply upon their a little more ultra trendy dresses for the parliament. The 30-year-old Ms. Chakraborty put on a white shirt and blue jeans while 29-year-old Ms. Jehan was dressed in a wine-colored ensemble-a peplum top with pants.  Both emerged victorious by a huge margin of votes in the elections. Nusrat Jehan and Mimi Chakraborty were made to feel the trollers adversely about their dress sense that remained a different choice.

Those newly elected parliamentarians entered the portals of parliament for the first time. They presented themselves like fresher where the seniors would train them to wear traditional attire. They seemed to have mistaken the place for Kolkata’s Nicco Park or City Centre as a social media user stated. Why do elected members choose to wear unpleasant clothes? The young parliamentarians were wearing very much modern outfits that created a storm in social media.

Not only in our country but the Western countries also ponder over wearing an unsuitable, uncomfortable dress in the parliament. Israel and Britain are glaring examples of this reality. Once the British Parliament had even disallowed tie for its elected members. The Speaker had authority on the dress code because conducting the parliamentary procedures comes under that defined authority. Nobody raises a query on the conventional dress.

What catches eyes is rather an unconventional outfit that goes against the prevalent norm. Erskine May, the guide to parliamentary procedure, holds there is no exact dress code for the elected members in the House. Convention has been that for men khadi Kurta pajama is expected; for women, the equivalent level of formality should be observed. Mostly women parliamentarians prefer to wear traditional indigenous saree but the seventeenth parliament finds an entry of glamour at the dome of democracy. Is it the first time the women politicians were flayed for their selection of costume in the parliament?

Let us not mollycoddle Modi, and close our eyes. Let us prescribe the Right Wing tenets and list out “things to do by Modi” in next 5 yrs!! After all Modi is a sevak of this Vedic Land

“To build a Right-wing Ecosystem would be to replicate a Left-wing ecosystem. Nothing could be more tragic. Ecosystems are tribes. Sooner or later ‘they’ demand their pound of flesh”
Anand Ranganathan

“Left has failed, but the ‘Right’ does not understand Modi as well.
Rahul Roushan.

“I could not agree less” with both these mesmerising captions of the two write-ups of the respective authors that appeared on OpIndia’ recently, but both are to some extent misleading and confusing the readers. At the very outset, the “theorem” should be “other way” round. Modi is supposed to follow, obey and execute the Right Wing ideology but Modi should not have dominion over Right Wing Ideology. Modi himself is not an ‘Ism’ akin to Right Wing, but Modi is reckoned to be a devotee of RW ideology for his membership in the BJP. Or else the very purpose of a Political Ideology, when chosen through a democratic way, will be defeated without accomplishing the task. Modi being a charismatic leader is limited to leading the masses like Moses, but while implementing the Right Wing ideology, he can not make amendments, adjustments, compromises and swappings for political gains and at the cost the very core Indic values.

So, the question of the ‘Right’ not understanding Modi, shall not arise at all in the first place. The task is, the unification of India, by placing Nationalism above and fair treatment of all citizens regardless of their religious, linguistic and cultural affinities. Most importantly the top priority should be, protection of ‘Hindu Ism’ the Indic Values’. Sanatana Dharma and its associated practices of faith and Indic way of existence in this land should be shielded, protected and be made impeccable by Law. Hinduism and its associated Indic icons, Values and practices, should be declared as the principal feature of India in conformity with the Constitution of India. How it can be achieved I have explained below.

At the very rise of this debate, there should have been a strong and unmistakable ‘Political Right Wing ideology’ in place in India. Sri Narendra Modi by persona is not an ism or ideology by himself. Long ago when the liberal media dubbed Modi’s histrionics as “Moditva’, that exposed the height of their folly. Bestowing an established doctrine to any Political statesman (except to its author) is not only wrong but also leads to sycophancy. Modi is at best an able leader and a thespian. His duty is to impart Nationalism and defeat the corrosive Left ideology with the help of Right tenets. The Right Wing ecosystem is a must network on Social and Mainstream media now, but when we say ‘ecosystem’ it is not akin to the prevalent Left ecosystem. The Right Wing ecosystem should work accepting financial assistance only to the extent to meet the infrastructure and working capital requirements, but not to extend for buying brains and countering anti-Right, with money power. The reason is ‘the future Right Wing’ in India would include Intellectuals from Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains. The trouble may arise from the quarters of the usual suspects like Muslims and Christians in view of their faith’s Abrahamic origin. Then the Indic Right would tell them, ‘see don’t interfere in ‘our’ matters, and take a guarantee, from ‘us’ as well, that ‘we’ too, do not interfere in your matters. Yes yes, this means a ban on conversions too. Let us see later about this.

So, the RW ideology should guide Modi but not to be overpowered by the ‘self’ of the Modi in reverse. So once a solid and impeccable Right Ideology is devised by the RW Intellectuals (that is the need of the hour), Modi has to simply follow it for the good of the nation. It is like Captain Phillipe to save this nation from the turbulence of the rough sea, pirates and piranhas. The Captain’s role is in the cockpit.Right-wing ideology should only be an inspiration to Modi, though it was primitive and unripe in 70’s 80’s and till late 90’s. It was a mess then (and even now). It would be interesting to know the truth why millions like me, became Bhakts of Modi just before 2014 elections? Though I consider myself a committed Right Wing ideologue since the age of 14, I saw Modi in 2014 as a hope. It was hope. Hope. Just hope. Because When we are admiring Modi, we are not admiring Modi’s, beard or his physique or even mannerism or personality, but his duty-bound pledge that was deemed to have taken by Modi, to achieve the enforcement of RW Ideology. To be frank, it is not ‘fulfilment’ either, but ’empowering’ the RW ideology as the RW Ideology is still under attack from anti-Hindu quarters in the pretext of ‘secularism’.

We did trust Modi in 2014, chiefly hoping that the Indic Values will be protected and edified during his rule. This is particularly so when Atal Bihari Vajpayee spent his 5 yrs time, doing much on development, but nothing concrete for the Hindu and Indic values and beliefs. He spent his time pampering the Liberals, feeding the Left-ecosystem and almost ended like a Congress rule. So where Vajpai had failed, Modi should not. As far as Indian Political turf is concerned, Left-wing ecosystem was formed chiefly to defeat and decimate the Nationalism, Hindu affinity and Hindu values in this part of the world. The Left vouched to protect and justify the bigotry of Abrahamic religious followers in India. Hence the clash was inevitable. However, this Left ecosystem hoodwinked the Hindus and Hindu intellectuals for well over 6 decades.

A Hindu was condemned, not only for his beliefs but also for the reason, Hindus being in the numerical majority in India.

So, what would be Modi’s dos and don’ts in the coming days
1) He should not be a hesitant road crosser
2) He should not be pusillanimous and backtrack after every policy decision is taken, in the event of heavy criticism by the liberals
3) He should Ignore the Liberal media.

What should be the strategy?
First of all, like an operating system in the Computers, there should be a driving force to emotionally unite the citizenry; So, the ‘Sanskrit’ language is apt as a driving force and power supply to the entire nation. The Sanskrit language should be promoted in a big way and on large scale, with the active support of the Modi Government. The Sanskrit language should echo throughout the nation. Sanskrit should be celebrating on every opportune moment in a gala manner. Sanskrit should be made compulsory in Schools. Sanskrit Dramas should play, movies should be made, academia should debate in Sanskrit. Sanskrit should be made our National language. Sanskrit should be our proud icon. To accomplish this task, the Govt should take two steps. A strong and powerful Sanskrit Board to be created. A separate cabinet rank Ministry should be created. Under this Ministry, the Board shall function. This step will reinvigorate the people and instil one-ness among them. This will create a proud feeling among the people and that feeling will constantly recall our 10,000 yrs old proud cultural historicity to keep the nation moving.

Media Policy
BJP Government’s media policy should be overhauled in totality. Media policy would be a two-part implementation.1) By strictly controlling the so-called liberal print and electronic media through a separate law the atmosphere of hate and false apprehensions can be eliminated. This law should prevent fake news, spin doctoring, smear and rumours, and restore peace in the society. After this step, the Govt should adopt a strict gag order. This gag order will decide which media houses the Government should ignore officially and chose a couple of media houses for official interaction. In the absence of such a practice in the past, our Finance Minister was frequenting NDTV to chat on Government policies. The NDTV was neither a popular channel with highest TRP nor an accredited TV News channel to engage with. A couple of days ago, before the election results were announced the private media channels were playing around. The Journo Mr Rahul Kawal was notorious among the anti-BJP coterie. Yet our PM had to engage them during the polls. One may argue that such interactions were necessary for mutual benefits, but it is nothing but amounts to compromising on the ideological front.

Improving the Judiciary-stalling Judicial audacity on Hindus beliefs.
The Sabarimala verdict of the Supreme Court had thrown several hidden chunks on the floor. This has indeed shocked and hurt the Hindus.  While ruling on the matter, the bench had ignored the prevalent Hindu traditions and reprimanded the community in hasty manner disregarding the basic judicial principles. Serious thought should be given by the Government to prevent a repeat of such a scenario in the future.

Right from the Judgment of the Supreme Court on Sabarimala matter in September 2018 to till January 2019, the Prime Minister and the Home Minister could not speak up their mind officially or personally. This was solely due to the fear of media bullying. Such a situation should be avoided in future. This is possible once the Hindu beliefs and practices are legally protected as suggested here.

A “Blasphemy Law” to protect Hinduism, Hindu beliefs and Indic icons and practices are enacted.
The first and foremost initiative that Modi should takeup is to pass stringent legislation, prohibiting blasphemous acts against Hindu and Indic beliefs, worships and practices as a non-bailable criminal offence punishable independently under the proposed new act. My inspiration for this suggestion is our neighbour country ‘Myanmar’. Myanmar protects its majority Budhhists in more ways than other countries. The missionaries run Schools across India are openly and brazenly picking up Hindu kids, insulting them for their Hindu practices, religious dress, forehead lines, black Ayyappa Dresses etc. The Hindu parents of such ravaged kids were made hapless losing moral support as their case is no body’s case/ So media, NGO’s and Political parties ignore such incidents in a deliberate manner.

To strengthen, modernise and expand the Archeological Survey of India and grant sufficient funds for more excavation into the pre-Harappan era. I faced a terrible embarrassment last year. Being a writer and columnist, I took up small research on the last year findings of a ‘Chariot’ relics by ASI in Bhagpat UP. I wrote a small piece on it, yet before writing the piece, I visited the ASI Website to gather more information on it. I was so excited by the findings but when I opened the site I was shocked. Though I frequently visit this web site, on that particular day I was severely embarrassed. No news of the ‘Chariot’ findings. No photographs. No articles, opinions, blogs on it. It turned out to be a dumb web site. One particular post on the home page of ASI did attract me. That was a tender notice for construction of cycle stands in the ASI office premises”- What an embarrassment?

Within 24 hrs of this news hitting the Internet, hundreds of foreign enthusiasts started online discussions on the findings but must have disappointed with our own ASI portal.Public Places, Airports, Railway Stations, Bus terminals, Tourist spots, should be filled with Hindu heritage photos, banners and cutouts. When I was in Mumbai Sahar Airport on duty as an Air Customs Officer (1989-92), AirPort was adorned with huge photos of Indian heritage building photos, Ajanta, Ellora, Swamy Narain temple photos etc. The foreign tourists were thrilled by these photos and by my name ‘Krishna’. Later this heritage display has been completely stopped by the Government due to the advent and penetration of liberal’s anti Hindu stance. The much-debated Hindu Temples Heritage and its mismanagement. This is a perennial and raging issue for Hindus. One single legislation from the parliament should end this Government control over 20 lakh Hindu temples and its income.

Modernising Hindu temples by removing ‘cash collecting Hundi’s and other sources of money collections in Hindu temples should be the priority.
For cleanliness, Coconut breaking should be banned. Modi should bring a “modern outlook and ambiance in Hindu temples.Hindu Temples should serve as a source and place of Hindus congregation for unity. In fact, in olden days, the heritage Hindu temples were being used by Kings to mobilise the peoples and conducting cultural events. This is the reason many south Indian temples have huge spaces around the main deity with 20 ft high walls. BJP Party should constitute a high tech in house espionage team to keep a watch on anti-Hindu and Anti India forces among the opponents to counter their subversive plans (This should be apart from official NIA). BJP is always weak and meek on this front. I was highly critical of this drawback of the party, despite huge funds at their disposal. Because in the past on several occasions BJP was rudely shocked and awakened while napping. So, to remain as a strong right-wing party a strong internal espionage team is a must.

MSM too to be taken care of, for its fake news propaganda.
From the beginning, the BJP strategists were euphoric of Social Media and Right Winger’s domination on it. But this misleads the party time and again, as the MSM is still active and powerful in deceiving the intelligentsia.

MSM is still an active stakeholder in Pseudo secular and anti-Hindu propaganda. The corporate take over of print media or corporate bodies is the only answer. If this does not work, Right-wing parallel print publications should come out in a big way to diminish the left echo system.

A  National Advisory Council type of advisory council to be constituted by the NDA 2 Government exactly on the lines of UPA’s NAC to formulate and implement Right-wing ideology.
This is time to pick up brilliant and learned Professors, Journalists, Writers, research scholars from all over India and form an advisory council named as “National Advisory Council for revamp of Indic and Hindu heritage’ or the similar. This council will study elaborately the present standing of Indic and Hindu heritage and suggest for the renaissance.Rewriting of Indian History I hope the work is underway.

Construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya
This is essential for the future unity of Hindus all over the globe. It should be the Mecca for Hindus. BJP Government should explore all possible legal, political and campaign strategy to achieve this goal.

Strengthen the Sedition Laws and redefine the phrases like Sedition and Treason so as to impart some gravity for the seemingly naive looking opinions like that of the  ‘tukd tukde gang’ It is right time to redraft the sedition laws and rephrase the treason definitions to include every naive looking anti-national’s simple sounding ‘opinion’s and slogans to legally mean as “treason” and sedition.

As I have written in my previous write-ups, that Government’s failure to ignore the grave misdeeds of Navjot Singh Sidhu, Mani Shanker Iyer and Shekhar Gupta will not only send a messy message to the nation, but such shameless leaders would grow in strength, by taking advantage of the Government’s pusillanimity.

Invitation to Kamal Hassan by the PMO was a psychotropic blunder
So, at least by now all of you must have understood what I was all along whining for? Do not succumb to the mind game of the liberals. Kamal Hassan deliberately picked up Nathuram Godse as planned by his mentors, the Missionaries. One must know that Kamal Hassan and most of his family members (being an Iyengar Brahmin family) are actively involved in propagating Christianity. His dubbing of Nathruam Godse as Post Independent India’s first Hindu terror was a deliberate attempt to strengthen his and the Christian Missionaries position in South India.

His active association with the Missionaries and his biased attack on Hindus should have deterred the PMO from inviting him. This gives a wrong message to the Hindus, well before Modi swearing-in. This shows Mr Rammadhav is in no way near Modi to advise him on this wrong step of the PMO and the President. When Christian YSR was ruling the united AP then, he succeeded in converting lakhs of Telugu people to Christianity. His son Jagan now rose to power and will be ruling the AP for another 5 yrs. One can imagine the extensive damage in store for Telugu Hindus.

This piece of my writing may reach our Hon’ble Prime Minister and I am optimistic that the PM may pay attention to these suggestions.

May 30 should be celebrated by all Indians as DAY OF सत्यमेव जयते satya-meva jayate

0

After several days of tireless effort and dedication of Narendra Modi by travelling different parts of India to speak to people about how he wants to develop India and achieve sab ka vikas with the support and mandate of people, the day has dawn and truth has triumphed.

May 30, Narendra Modi is swearing in for the second time as Prime Minister of India. This day is very remarkable day not only in the history of India but also for the future of New India. Today is the day, India is laying its foundation stone for New India, India free of corruption and scam in governance at the centre, the governance fully dedicated and focused on development, sab ka vikas and national security.

The ancient Hindu Mundaka Upnishad clearly states that

“satyameva jayate nānṛtaṃ
satyena panthā vitato devayānaḥ
yenākramantyṛṣayo hyāptakāmā
yatra tat satyasya paramaṃ nidhānam”

Truth alone triumphs and not falsehood, through truth alone the divine path is spread out, by which the sages whose desires have been completely fulfilled, reach to where that supreme treasure of truth.

The victory of Narendra Modi and BJP at the centre is the victory of truth, honesty, spirituality, Hinduism, sacredness, dedication, development and sab ka vikas. Several evil forces worked overtime to defeat the truth and dharma in India by defeating Modi.

But the people of India has proved to the world that India is the land of several sages like Valmiki, Vyasa, Kalidasa, Sri Rama Paramahansa, Swami Vivekananda and the land of Lord Ram and Lord Krishna and therefore the people will not defeat truth and honesty. That is how Modi won the historic mandate.

Several dynastic forces along with khan market gang, tukde tukde gnag and the punkah coolies tried their best to destabilize India by spreading falsehood, lies, and politics of hatred and minority appeasement. But the divine law prevailed and truth won.

The victory of truth and victory of Modi sends a clear message to all those political merchants of lie, hatred and negative-ism that they cannot take people of this country for a ride anymore.

In front of a divine incarnation, no mortal being made of lies, corruption, dynastic cult and negativity can win or suppress and trample truth, hereafter. Successfully all those dynastic forces were exploiting the gullibility of people since independence but India has changed remarkably after Modi has become Prime Minister of India in 2014.

The victory and triumph of truth Indians must celebrated by calling May 30 as day of satya-meva jayate.

This day, people must dedicate to spread the message of goodness and victory of Modi- the embodiment of truth to everyone around so that the New India is built with the cooperation of every Indian.

The importance of truth and supporting the truth for the global welfare and universal brotherhood also we must perpetuate by celebrating this day by taking pledge in the name of Modi that we will in our limited way and shall spread the message of love, truth and good governance of Modi and his desire to achieve sab ka vikas. People’s continuous effort is needed to sustain the spirit of goodness and people should not go for rest until next election season. Every day, people must share at least one good message of Modi’s governance so that we can fill India with full of goodness.

Today is the day of Maha Kumba abhisheka where all the negativity and hate politics of the dynast and other tukde tukde gangs we shall wash off from India and through goodness of Modi, let us win the vishwas of everyone.

The future election should not witness a contest between truth and lies, dharma and adharma, democracy and dynatic politics, god governance and nepotism and corruption. In India, truth alone should contest and truth alone should win. We should not let even an iota of space of lies and hate politics to fight against Modi, the incarnation of honesty and goodness.

Truth and good governance doesn’t need opposition. Therefore the rot idea of having a strong opposition for healthy democracy, we shall make redundant. Modi is the messiah of truth, honesty, good governance, development, sab ka vikas and national security. Therefore nothing is there to oppose Modi. All that the opposition parties have to do is join Modi and make India a great land to live.

All those who join BJP from other parties will be seen by Indians only as Vibishanas and Sugrivas and therefore it is time for everyone to prove they are the real Vibhishanas and Sugrivas joining with Ram to build New India.

The triumph of truth will certainly make India a land where Ram and Rahim will have equal opportunity, pride and responsibility to build New India.  Let us celebrate the day of Satya-meva jayete and let us wish a long, healthy and happy life for Modi the spirit and soul of truth and good governance.

Class system (VarNa VyavasthA): The delusion dispersed about it in society

0

Let’s start with a verse from Shrimad Bhagvat Gita, Chapter 4 Shloka 13:

chAturvarNyam mayA shrishTyam, guNakarma vibhAgshah.

tasya kartAramapi mAm, vidhyakartAram avyayam. (Gita 4:13)

This verse is very important, not only from spiritual perspective but also from scientific point of view. Apart from this, the verse also has its own social significance. Before comprehension of the verse, it is necessary to know the sociopolitical discourse of present India first. While, nowadays, India is emerging stronger in global scenario under a strong and efficient leadership, on the other hand, some anti-social elements want to divide it back into caste mania and trying to push the society towards radical mindset; which will eventually prove to be a hindrance to India’s progress. Unfortunately, the common Hindu people, being unaware of their religious texts and its Class System (VarNa VyavasthA), could be easily misled, are the easiest prey for such anti-national and divisive forces who want to cling society in caste mania. Various misconceptions are dispersed by these anti-national forces on Class System (VarNa VyavasthA). Its denial by true references of religious texts is of extreme importance and necessary.

Now, we try to comprehend the meaning of the above verse 4:13:

Etymologically the word ‘VarNa’ is made up of base (or root) word ‘Var’ which has many meanings – To choose, to demand, to desire, to search something to achieve (Reference: Screen Shot (SS) of Chaturvedi Sanskrit-Hindi Dictionary by Dwarka Prasad Sharma Edition 1917).

Another reference SS is as below from Index of PANini’s DhAtupATha with Vedic swaras:

From above SS it is evident that the meanings of varNa are ‘to choose the desired work, enterprise, industry, color, species, letter of the alphabet, kind, type, fame, love’ etc. To assimilate ‘varNa’ with ‘caste’ is utterly irrational and sheer ignorance.

Hence, the shloka 4:13 can be translated as, ‘Segregating the deeds based on the properties, I composed four varNa. That is, four types of enterprises (karma), with a freedom to choose, were composed by me. And, although I have composed them, do not consider me to be its doer’. (Gita 4:13)

The first point to understand here is that the division of karma is based on the qualities and the second, the freedom to choose them. The word varNa could not be assimilated with ‘Caste’, because it is not based on birth but based on karma and furthermore, freedom of choice is also there. Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra – all these four words are qualitative nouns. Apparently, it is a delusion prevalent in society that varNa is a synonym for Caste.

This verse also contain a very deep spiritual meaning. In the second stage, Shri KrishNa says, ‘Though I have composed them, do not consider me to be its doer.’ It simply means, Shri KrishNa advised to avoid the feeling ‘I did’ in any circumstances as it will create an ego in a person’s mind and eventually, it will take the person away from the God. This is also written by Saint Kabir Das ji in simple words:

Prem gali ati sankri, jA me do na samAhi

Jab me thA hari nAhi, jab hari hai me nAhi

Eventually, we can comprehend – Select the karma based on your qualities and work accordingly. After accomplishment, give up the ego of ‘I did’; which means simply, neither do attachment in deeds nor for the result. In very precise words, Shri KrishNa taught the people to eliminate both the causes of grief i.e. ‘Ego’ & ‘Expectation’ of a person. ‘Ego’ & ‘Expectation’ are the two reasons for any problem in the world. A mind without these two culprits, can stay calm and relieved from any grievances.

Easily could be concluded that the varNa, of a person, does not belongs to him by birth. Furthermore, its evidences are found in Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran Part 1, Section 7, chapter 11 and Shloka 35:

yasya yallakshyaNam proktam punso varNAbhivyanjakam

yadanyatrApi drishyet tat tenaiv vinirdishet

The character describing a particular varNa, if found in a person of different varNa  then the individual will be considered as of previous varNa. Apparently, qualities, of an individual, are important compared to his birth.

Additionally, this could be confirmed through the verse 4:1:17 of  VishNu PuraNa:

tadanvayAshcha kshatriyssarve dikshvabhavan

prishadhrastu manuputro gurugovadhAchchhUdratvamagamat

Prishadhra, the son of a man named Manu, became shudra due to the murder of his cow. This is just one example. Many such examples are found in scriptures. In shloka 19 of the same chapter of VishNu PuraNa i.e. 4:1:19, there is mention of Manu’s grandson, son of DishTa, who became vaishya because of his deeds.

In summary, it can be said that there was no inclusion of dynasty in the Class System (varNa vyavasthaA). In the absence of dynasty in Class System, no other system could be better than it. Even today, karma of a society can be categorized into four types i.e. intellectual, defense, business and service work. The service work is not meant to serve anyone’s feet, but to do social work to help or facilitate the society.

By denying the delusions being spread by anti-social elements that break society, we should study and analyze the texts minutely. It will ensure to create a harmonious society and eventually an united India. It can tie the society to its cultural heritage strongly. A civilization, unaware of its own scriptures and being culturally deprived, can not be save for longer.

The many failures of Congress

0

The debacle of Congress in 2019 Lok Sabha elections in India was not a surprise for the voters of the largest democracy in the world. While the international media tried to put a western stereotypical template to understand the politics of India, the Indian media, specifically Lutyen’s media or what the Prime Minister calls “Khan Market Gang” tried to peddle a narrative that Congress was emerging as a strong contender. And came the D-Day and the entire media went ballistic on the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, whom they had portrayed to be the next big thing. While the popular opinion is that Rahul should resign and pave way for inner party democracy, the party is not ready for it.

One of the biggest problems with Congress is the absence of a cadre. So many dynasts under one roof with every dynast having a sense of entitlement. Now one can argue that regional parties also have dynasts, but they are one dynasty/family parties. These individual dynasties own these regional parties. Congress on the other hand is a complex mixture of dynasts and a bigger dynast is need to rein in the rest. So, without a Gandhi, Congress falls apart. That is where the absence of cadre haunts Congress. In such a scenario, state leadership gets overlooked, which harms the party in more than one way or the other.

Secondly, Congress is a confused party. In one of the rarest cases, the political party has very less ground connect. The 5 years of Modi government was a transitional era for India where digital connectivity and welfare was given a push. The Congress was sleeping over this development. You cannot win an election in 2 months. It requires continuous vigilance. Getting up one day and announcing NYAY despite your inability to provide a promised loan waiver in the recently won states was not going to ring a bell with a household which got toilets, gas connection, houses, direct income transfer and reservation.

Thirdly, Congress’ idea of secularism now borders on appeasement. The biggest blunder of Congress was to oppose the Triple Talaq bill. It appalled the women voters across religions and caste. In its pursuit to preserve its one segment of vote bank, Congress destroyed a much more big vote bank and that is WOMEN.

The fourth biggest failure of Congress was to downplay National security as an election issue. A country with such a huge nationalistic fervour, a country which was just stuck by the horrific Pulwama attacks, cannot be expected to be mute on this issue. To add to its trouble, their ghosts of the past came to haunt them. Their defence of inaction on 26/11 attacks was the stupidest thing one could imagine.

In a country with the majority population being Hindu, you can’t expect to win elections by alienating them. Hindu consolidation over caste equations stumped Congress. This is something that the Congress borrowed from Communists and it brought about the avalanche under which every big leader got subdued. An average Hindu today isn’t ashamed of his culture and traditions and Congress was not able to tap on this sentiment.

The fifth failure of the Congress was to attack the incorruptible image of Modi. The fiercest of critics of Modi, can’t make a charge of corruption on the man because he has always been Mr. Clean. Whosoever advised Rahul to dismantle the image of Modi should be shown the door first. You can’t attack the somebody on his strongest point.

The sixth and the biggest failure of Congress is that it never became a positive alternative for the voters. Their inability to accommodate allies, inability to give a vision to voters, negative campaign, shoddy language, a disastrous manifesto, internal bickering and resting the entire responsibility on weak shoulders of Gandhi siblings to replicate the Modi-Shah model of campaigning was the greatest blunder.

Now, with all done and dusted, the Congress still seems clueless as to how to start again. With the time running by, 5 years will not be enough for Congress to stand up on its feet but it has to start today.

7 imminent challenges for NDA 2.0 on economic front

0

BJP led NDA passed the hurdle, elections 2019, with flying colors. Voters have chosen a strong and decisive govt. under the leadership of political wizard Narendra Modi. Defying all odds and artificial criticism created by the Left, which is buried now, BJP has secured a comfortable number of 303. But, what next? Global and internal dynamics pose imminent challenges to NDA 2.0 on economic front. Here, we list the most important ones.

1. Banks’ NPA and unsound health of NBFC
Over-enthusiastic lending, large chunk prior to 2014, coupled with twin balance sheet problem inflated NPA to 10 lakh crore. Govt. decision to infuse 2.11 lakh crore, in October 2017, and RBI’s close vigil has helped it to come down to 8.5 lakh crore. Still, Government and RBI has to be proactive to mitigate this problem. Capital infusion and prudential lending must work in tandem to lower down NPA to comfortable level. Power sector is the most  fiscally distressed, timely interventions by the Govt. and RBI would help.Recently, IL&FS was seen making rounds in news world for wrong reasons. Debt crisis of 91,000 crore has badly impacted the growth of NBFC sector in India. Unsustainable investment in infrastructure compounded the debt to equity ratio of 18.7. Strict monitoring by govt. and RBI’s timely intervention will avert future crisis in NBFC sector.

2. Agriculture
In India, 60% of gross cropped area is rainfed. Last year, Marathwada in Maharashtra, Northern Karnataka, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh faced drought like situation. Incidents of farmers committing suicides were also reported. NDA govt. took a historic step to provide Rs. 6000/year to 12 crore families of farmer under the scheme PM-KISAN. This is going to be very vital for the primary sector, which involves 60% of workforce and contributes around 16% to GDP.Irrigation projects, land reforms, abolition of APMC, wider domain of MSP, soft lending, need based support, incentivizing exports are some of the steps that can be taken by govt. to ensure prosperity in primary sector.

3. Maintaining growth rate of 7% & above
Global economic slowdown, attributed to US-China trade disputes, can retard the growth rate conceived by government. UN, recently, cuts India growth rate from 7.6% to 7%. India with other countries, at global platforms, can mediate to diffuse the volatility. Meanwhile, India must tap the potential and strive to boost trade ties with associations like ASEAN, BRICS, SAARC & Central-Asian countries.

4. Fiscal deficit target of 3.4% of GDP for 2019-20                                                                                  NDA deserve huge applause for sustaining growth rate of 7% with fiscal deficit well under 4% ; UPA achieved similar growth rate but by compromising fiscal prudence and once fiscal deficit worsen to 6.46% in 2009.NDA govt. has been fiscally more prudent than UPA, but NDA has to shift the target of achieving fiscal deficit of 3% of GDP for FY 2020-21. With populist schemes like MUDRA & PM-KISAN, it would be interesting to see how NDA 2.0 manages it.

5. China’s ambitious BRI
China’s “Belt & Road Initiative” envisages to connect China with 152 countries for trading network. India is not a part of it, and oppose CPEC as it passes through POK. Observers thinks BRI is a tool for global dominance. With heavy investments in Asia and Africa(pledged to invest $60 billion in Africa, in Sept 2018), China is shrinking trade space for India as well as other states.Collective effort would be required to counter China and its exploitative aspirations. WTO can exercise its power to check and thwart any move that leads to subjugation.

6. Trump’s path to protectionism
“Tit for Tat” tariff approach, which started with China, has also seen removal of GSP for India. GSP is a preferential tariff system that aims to encourage exports of developing countries. Last year India exported goods worth $5.6 billion. It is being said that it won’t affect India much as the benefits under GSP was to tune of $190 million annually. But, it must be kept in mind that the US dragged India in WTO on accusations that India is incentivizing exports, and it doesn’t augur well. Price capping by India on medical equipment imported from US is also a bone of contention.Trade surplus of India with US reached all time high to touch $23 billion in 2017. Trump’s path to protectionism will definitely hinder exports. India needs to, amicably, find a solution with US.

7. US sanctions on Iran                                                                                                                                  US president, Donald Trump, unilaterally revoked JCPOA, commonly known as Nuclear Deal. Oil waiver given by US to India expired on 2nd May, which has driven India to stop crude oil import from Iran. Now, India needs to find the substitution, but the point of concern is that India can’t afford an unstable Iran. Unstable Iran would jeopardize the investments made in Chabahar port and the gates to Afghanistan & resource rich Central-Asia would be closed.Other permanent members of UN & Germany, which are signatories of JCPOA, are finding alternatives. India with these countries can strike a deal to save its trade related prospects.

Rishabh Raj

An open letter to Amit Shah

Dear Amit Shah ji,

Congratulations on spearheading a historical win for the BJP and PM Shri Narendra Modi ji second time in a row. Your vision for BJP and Modi ji’s vision for India have been in sync with the future we Indians envisage ourselves.

As much as this victory gives me hope and joy, it also saddens me to see that my state of Tamil Nadu has been fiercely resisting change and losing out on the massive economic and social development that the rest of the country has been enjoying under your stewardship. Tamil Nadu, once a leading state in all development indices, has been lagging behind in growth and development these last few years due to the myopic leadership offered by the political class that rules the roost here. Political rhetoric that was relevant 40-50 years ago is still being peddled here to fool the gullible public. Caste differences are being kept alive and nurtured with vitriolic hate mongering.

Religious harmony has been dented with minority appeasement and fake narratives about Hindus. Our temples have been vandalized and robbed for years with no respite in sight. Our culture and heritage have been pawned at the doorsteps of liquor shops run by the State Government filling the coffers of the two dominant political parties. Corruption has been normalized and accepted as a fact of life. The state has been losing out to neighbours in bagging industrial projects due to the alarming growth in anti-national and anti-development agenda of certain political parties and other vested interests. Every new industry or infrastructure project is being blockaded to keep TN separate from the national narrative.

Having said all this, it is a fact that the North-South divide has never been addressed adequately by the ruling class of Delhi to bring TN closer to the national mainstream. Despite giving the country two Presidents and several Cabinet Ministers in the past, Tamil Nadu and Tamil people have never been understood by the National parties. Tamilians have been rightfully miffed at being stereotyped as Madrasis who dance to Lungi beats. Tamil, being one of the oldest and original languages of the country, is very different in syntax to Hindi and we genuinely have had trouble learning the tongue that you are so familiar with. The Dravidian parties have only used this divide to their advantage and have made the language chasm deeper by denying many generations of Tamilians the opportunity to learn Hindi. Even educated class has had trouble understanding the PM’s speeches and no efforts were made by the local BJP units to translate or subtitle them for social media consumption.

The TN BJP was in a wonderful position these past 2-3 years to develop the party in Tamil Nadu with both dominant Kazhagams losing their larger-than-life Chiefs. But the party has failed miserably in doing that and has faced a drubbing in these elections. TN BJP needs to be revitalized with energetic leaders who can set an alternative discourse in the political arena to counter the two behemoths. Young leaders like Karnataka’s Tejasvi Surya need to be identified and nurtured to connect with the very educated youth of TN. The state has a history of voting to power charismatic leaders who can shine bright on their own. A leader who has a great command over Tamil, who can connect with the masses and who is an able administrator is the need of the hour for TN BJP. Someone with these capabilities has to be identified and given charge immediately since the present leadership has been an abject failure. Dr Tamilisai is a very nice and capable individual but those qualities don’t make a leader.

I request you to set your sight on TN immediately and put all your energies at work here to bring Dharma to this southern most state of our country from where Lord Rama started his march towards Lanka. The state that gave Acharya Ramanuja, 12 Alwars of Vaishnavism, 63 Nayanmars of Shaivism, Maharishi Ramana, Thiruvalluvar, Mahakavi Bharathi and many many more freedom fighters that served Bharat Mata requires your urgent intervention to restore order and set us on a path of growth. I believe that Shri Narendra Modi ji is the dharma warrior that can save Tamil Nadu’s soul.

I pray to Lord Narayana to let the lotus bloom in my Tamil Nadu. Jai Shri Ram!

Rahul Gandhi today is the Hitler from April 1945

0

This was a revolution, an epoch defining moment in India’s post 47 history and what is stunning to me is just how out of touch and clueless the deracinated anglophile ‘elites’ just were to this ground shaking moment.

In fact I am being uncharitable to King Louis XVIth, 3 years before he lost his head, he recognised the severity of discontent and called a meeting of the estates general and asked them to submit Cahiers de doleances (ledgers of grievances).

He promised to action these, but sadly for the king, he was still a little too late. The long oppressed bourgeois classes and the peasants were too angry to be assuaged by this and 3 years later the King and Queen both lost their heads.

The current opposition and I include the Khan Market gang (thank you PM Narendra Modi for this phrase) here didn’t have the prescience King Louis had, they remind me of Hitler in April 1945. Surrounded by Soviet troops, Hitler in his delusional world was convinced that he was winning

His enablers, toadies like Goebbels (Lutyens Media?) Himmler, Hans Krebs etc didn’t even bother bringing the Fuhrer down to reality. They instead enabled his delusions, promising him that his genius alone will help defeat Marshal Zhukov and his 1 million troops.

Anybody who said otherwise was called a traitor and summarily dismissed from service. Till the day he shot himself, Hitler believed victory was just around the corner. He died thinking he would have won IF not for a few pesky Whermacht generals who interfered with his genius.

Our Rahul Gandhi lived in a similar delusional world, aided and enabled actively by the ecosystem who to this day are unable to accept these results for what they are. His world view was clouded by such prurient and puerile garbage like “Rahul defeats Modi on Twitter”.

From Sept 2018 on, I counted 5 different such articles. Or how cheerleaders like The Wire, or the talking heads in NDTV all declared Modi dead, and how the economy was in coma and how the subaltern class would overwhelmingly chase out this uppity upstart and cast him into exile.

You read endless opeds on how Mr Gandhi / Mamta / Maya etc represented the idea of India and how Mr Modi represented the ‘other’. The message was clear, Modi was the pretender on the throne, and the IoI was safe only when the default program, the Cong was in power in the center.

Or the “Rahul is coming of age” nonsense. I counted 20, yes 20 such articles from 2010 on. So apparently Rahul Baba comes of age 2 times every year like clockwork and as in the case of the emperor who wears no clothes, they all pander to Rahul the legendary leader.

They are convinced that his appellation Pappu is something the BJP IT cell made up, not realising that the average Indian, esp the average young Indian derides him as a no good talentless hack who got to where he is only because of who he is.

With the numbers now clear, you realise that all these pages have aged like milk left on the terrace of a hot Chennai day, does….very poorly. Which begs the question, how did so many allegedly intelligent people misread something so epoch making?

The intelligence is what needs to be questioned because in India in general and amongst the literati and intelligentsia in particular, the ability to communicate in English is directly proportional to your intelligence.

This is why air heads like Swara Bhaskar or even literary heavyweights like Arundati “Rafale carrier” Roy (no complaints on her writing here though) were given so much air time. They are disconnected from the real subaltern and indulge in what is politely called a ‘circle jerk’.

They live in their own echo chambers, and as a Tambram, many in my own circle live in a similar echo chamber and it is spectacular on how delusional and disconnected they are. Anybody gainsaying them is branded a filthy Sanghi.

Derided for being ‘low IQ’ and if the exchange continued, it is shut down with the magic words “guamutra bhakth sanghi”. This same politically correct class would shy away from using words offensive to Jews (kike), Blacks or Muslims, but have no qualms in abusing the Hindu RW.

Thus isolated and insulated, they crafted their own narrative on how Demonitisation caused 1000s of deaths, and how Modi is hated by the poorest Dalits, that intolerance is rising so the fence sitters will also switch sides.

Armed with this ‘knowledge’ you then got farcical analysis like the one Wire put out on UP where they took the assembly election results, added the SP + BSP voteshare, compared it with the BJP vote share and decided….Modi is done for, ggwp.

Anybody with even the slightest interest in Indian politics knows that vote transfer between antagonistic vote banks like Dalits, Jatavs, Yadavs and Muslims is not seamlessly done and there would be massive slips.

But not these ‘intellectuals’, they were absolutely convinced of their methods and outcomes and this then was fed to the key opposition leaders which lead to even more farcial things like how Rahul Gandhi said “he destroyed Modi’s identity”, vigorous hand gesticulation included.

Like his handlers and advisors must have taught him and like GoT season 8, it made for a stirring thing to watch….but that was all, in reality it was shallow and lacked all substance, something May 23rd proved in spades.

What’s shocking to me personally is that, rather than submit to the defeat, after all it isn’t final – King Narasimhavarman came back from a crushing defeat to taking the Chalukyan capital. The Cholas came from being small vassals to the Pallavans to becoming a superpower.

Simon Bolivar lost so many times, was exiled 2 times, and yet every single time he picked up, learnt from his mistakes and fought on. Defeat is not shameful, defeat is an opportunity to pause, understand what went wrong and then fix the mistakes.

The BJP itself is a shining example of that. They ran an insipid campaign in 2009, didn’t have clear campaign goals, and only vaguely aligned behind Advaniji, but it sat back, studied the mistakes it made and in 2013 itself Modi was made the PM face

And with razor sharp focus ran a campaign that ran rings around the opposition. In 2019 though, the process began 5 years ago itself. The model was the 2004 loss, and how to avoid the mistakes Vajpayeeji made.

However, neither the Cong nor its enabling ecosystem have the humility to accept this verdict, and the scale of it, instead of being a bucket of cold water poured on their head (no, not the ALS challenge please), it has reaffirmed their belief system.

If you look at all the sour grapes messages and opeds (The Wire and Sid V leads the way again) or NDTV on May 23rd (I have been to funerals that were mzore cheerful) that have been pouring out, this clique is convinced that their princeling was defeated by foul means.

That somehow a small minority of “savarna” Brahmins and landed elite gamed the system and deprived poor Rahul Baba, the heir of Nehruji his divine right! Messrs Modiji and Shahji are laughing their way to the vote bank, because with this attitude of the opposition, they just won 2024 as well.

I will let that doyen of the Marxists do the talking, Gayathri Spivak once wrote (and I paraphrase from memory so don’t quote me on this), “The marginalised are the silent and silenced centre, the poorest of the poor, the illiterate peasants, the tribals and the urban sub proletariat”.

The Congress, Marxists and “left Liberals” always deigned to speak on behalf of this subaltern class, the poorest of the poor, the sub proletariat, but on May 23rd, the Silent and Silenced Centre spoke, and resoundingly….in favour of Mr Modi.

The mortal conflict now within the pluralis maiestatis is clear, are the subaltern that they claimed to represent (though how an anglophone, upper class Indian could ever represent the poorest of the poor is beyond me) suddenly a ‘gaumutra sipping sanghi bigot’?

The subaltern though doesn’t care, this is a vote, a vote for hope, a vote that rejects the status quo ante of Nehruvian secularism and most importantly a vote against the same dynasts and elite who claim to be their voice.

The message is clear, ‘don’t give us homilies and slogans’, give us roads, electricity, toilets, doles without the commission and let us build our own lives. A new beginning indeed! Vetrivel Veeravel!
