Islamism in Congress politics of India

The Article 29 of the Constitution of India has the word ‘minorities’ in its marginal heading only and speaks of ‘minority’ as any section of citizens having a distinct language script and culture. Constitution of India does not define “minority”, least to call Muslim as ‘minority’. So, where this bogey of “Muslim Minority” come from? It was the Nehruvian ‘visionary policy’ of Islamism in Congress that gave birth of the unwanted problem-child called ‘Muslim Minority’.

Nehru’s aversion towards Uniform Civil Code in independent India was well known. His contempt for anything Hindu was too obvious. N B Khare, a leader of the Hindu Mahasabha, had described Nehru in 1959 as “English by education, Muslim by culture and Hindu by an accident of birth”. Nehru tried to delete the word ‘Hindu’ from the name of Banaras Hindu University, while keeping the word ‘Muslim’ for Aligarh Muslim University. His highly publicized annual Iftar Parties began as tentative steps towards Islamism in Congress politics.

The visionary and first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, appointed Sayyid Ghulam Muhiyuddin Ahmed bin Khairuddin Al Hussaini as the first Education Minister of independent India. He remained in that position for more than ten years till his death in February 1958. This gentleman was an Afghan descendant and was better known as Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. He was born in Mecca and studied ‘Islam’ in the famous Al Azhar University of Cairo. He was an Islamic scholar and never had any secular education. He could only speak and write in Arabic, Farsi or Urdu.

Maulana Azad was grossly unaware of Indic values, culture and civilization. Congress, thus, started Islamizing Indian education from the birth of independent India. In effect, all Gurukuls and Sanskrit schools (Tole) were closed down and free hand and government supports were given to Madrasa and Missionary schools. Contents of educational materials were made heavily biased towards Muslim rule in India. Even after seven decades of independence, nationalist Indians are finding it difficult to come out of Islamism in Indian education system imposed by Congress Party.

Islamism of Congress politics started in a big way just after independence around 1950, when Congress started inducting, in its fold, the Muslim League leaders, members and supporters who did not migrate to Pakistan. Many of those ex-Muslim Leaguers rose to the level of Cabinet Minister at Central and State levels under Congress rule later. Though 99 percent of Muslims of British India were supporters of Muslim League and called Congress a ‘Hindu Party’ before 1947, it became very convenient for ex-Muslim Leaguers, who stayed back in India after partition of 1947, to be Congress members/supporters and lead politically and Islamically assertive life in India unlike Hindus of Pakistan.

Under Congress Rule, ‘Waqf Act’ first came into being in India during 1954 and in 1964 Central Waqf Council was constituted under that Act. This Council is a statutory body and was made to advise the government on matters pertaining to State Waqf Boards and Waqf properties across the countries. Indian Waqf is the third biggest land owner, after Railway and Army, with about 6 lakh acres of land, which is equivalent to 17 districts of Uttar Pradesh. If so-much of land within India is earmarked for Muslim community and Muslim causes even today, then what for Pakistan was created in 1947?

In August 2022, it has come to light that the Congress-led-UPA government gifted 123 government properties in Lutyens’ Delhi to Waqf, one day before Model Code of Conduct was imposed by the Election commission of India in 2014 election. All those properties were actually inherited from British by the government of India.

The Waqf Act was further amended in 1995 under Congress Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao, wherein State Waqf Boards were allowed to constitute Survey Commission to survey and claim any property as Waqf. All income of Waqf properties is absolutely reserved for Muslim cause alone. Waqf has no national obligation. Congress thus made these State Waqf Boards as Islamic states within India.

Presently there are 30 State Waqf Boards in India, except in tiny the states of Goa, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and UT of Daman and Diu. Muslims have started using Waqf Act as a tool for Land Jihad. Besides Waqf Act, Muslims have been grabbing government and private land by constructing thousands of Mazars and Mosques across India every year.

Then ‘All India Muslim Personal Law Board’ (AIMPLB), a non-governmental organization (NGO) was constituted in 1973 by Nehru’s daughter Indira Gandhi to adopt suitable strategies for the protection and continued applicability of Muslim Personal Laws in India, most importantly, the Muslim Personal Law (Shariat) Application Act of 1937. AIMPLB was in direct violation of Article 44 of Directive Principles of Constitution which advised the Indian State to try to formulate Unified Civil Code across the country. Though an NGO, the name (AIMPLB) gives a false impression that it is a statutory body.

Rajiv Gandhi’s handling of Shah Bano case (1986), to appease Muslim clerics, was another strong assertion of Islamism in Congress politics. In the Shah Bano case, Rajiv Gandhi allowed Sharia to crush Indian Judiciary. On 26 September 1988, Salman Rushdie’s book Satanic Verses was published. And after 7 days on 5 October, 1988, Rajiv Gandhi’s Congress government banned the book in Indiato appease Muslims. India was the first country in the world to ban the book. And today the likes of Rana Ayyub, Ravish Kumar and Nidhi Razdan resort to ‘freedom of expression’ after abusing Hinduism and Hindus liberally.

In 1991, Congress Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao’s government enforced “Places of Worship Act”. This Act came into force when Ram Temple Movement was at its peak. The Act prohibits conversion of any place of worship and to provide for the maintenance of the religious character of any place of worship as it existed on the 15th day of August, 1947. This was a naked example of Islamism in Congress Party.

After creation of Islamic Pakistan for Muslims of British India in 1947, Indian Congress government wanted Indian Hindus to live with the painful memories of destruction of about 40,000 temples by the Muslim Rulers/invaders. If Indian laws could provide job reservations for SC-ST to reverse the injustice done to them in the past, then same logic of reversal policy also applied on destroyed Hindu temples by Muslim rulers/invaders in the past and capturing of those places by constructing mosques.

Then in 1992, Congress Prime Minister (P V Narasimha Rao), set up the ‘National Commission for Minorities’ (NCM) under the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992 and six religion-based communities, viz., Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Zoroastrians (Parsis) were notified as minority communities by the Union Government. But it has all along been the Muslims who dominated NCM. Nobody knew what secularism was to serve by that Act. It was another big step towards Islamism in Congress politics.

Indian Muslim community has all along been divided into about 20 percent of elite, educated and economically comfortable Ashraf (Muslims of foreign origin and converts from high caste Hindus) and about 80 percent of backward Pasmanda (local convert from low caste and out-caste Hindus) Muslims. Pasmanda have been the foot soldiers of Ashraf for doing stone pelting, riots, murders and mass violence in the name of saving Islam and for the honor of Muhammad. Ashraf has been dominating the Pasmanda religiously, socially, psychologically, politically and economically.

Thereafter, Sachar Committee was constituted by Sonia Gandhi’s Congress led UPA government in 2005 to study the social, economic and educational condition of ‘Muslims in India’ and recommend accordingly. But in reality, Sachar Committee was for the Pasmanda Muslims. The Committee gave its reports on 17 November 2006.

The report was placed before Parliament on 30 November 2006. There were 76 recommendations, of which 72 were accepted (as basket of Muslim specific facilities), three were not accepted and one was deferred. Islamism of Congress politics came on top gear.

Pasmanda-Muslim-specific Sachar Committee was nothing but Muslim Communalism by Congress Party led UPA government for naked Muslim leaning politics through their appeasements. Why other religious minorities, as well as, Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes were kept out of Sachar Committee could never be explained. Sachar Committee has been another burning example of Congress sponsored Muslim leaning politics in India.

Sonia Gandhi led UPA government also curved out ‘Ministry of Minority Affairs’ from the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment on 29th January 2006 to ensure a more focused approach towards issues relating to the notified minority communities namely Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Sikhs, Parsis and Jain. Here again, Muslims only have been dominating all along. As if all these steps of Islamism were not sufficient, the Congress Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in December 2006 declared that Muslims had first claim on India’s resources.

Sonia Gandhi driven Congress became so Muslim oriented that it pushed a new term Hindu Terror in national and international arena. Congress even tried to implicate RSS and Hindu Terror in the 26/11 Pakistan’s Islamic terrorist attacks in Mumbai. Sonia Gandhi’s open support for the Islamic terrorists of Batla House encounter (2008) was the height of Islamism in Congress.

So, it is clear like daylight that Islamism has been the core policy of the Congress Party in India. Congress just replaced ‘Indian Muslim League’ after August 1947. Funnily enough, as per Congi-Commie-Jihadi gang, – Waqf Board, AIMPLB, National Commission for Minorities, Ministry of Minority Affairs and Sachar Committee are not harmful for ‘Secular Fabric’ of India, but CAA and NRC are. What a joke!

The extra-Constitutional body, called National Advisory Council, chaired by Sonia Gandhi during UPA era (2004 to 2014) drafted a draconian bill [Prevention of Communal & Targeted Violence (Access to Justice and Reparations) Bill, 2011] where, in the event of any communal clash, majority community, that is, Hindus were to prove innocence. Otherwise, they would be convicted for commission of communal clashes. It was a conspiracy of Roman Catholic Antonia Maino led Congress to make Hindus a second class and persecuted community in India.

The core question is why Islamism has been the main tool of Congress politics? There are two parts to the answer. First part is the ideological weakness of Congress party towards Islam. The second part is, if Congress could keep the majority Hindu community divided on the basis of caste, then getting of consolidated Muslim votes could tilt the election results in favor of Congress. The same approach was later adopted by all regional so-called secular parties like RJD, SP, NCP, BSP, JDU, JDS, AAP, TRS, TMC and YSRCP. Chara Khor Lalu Prasad Yadav took that Islamism to another level by coining the term Chhekular Phorcess. This was the broad picture up to 2014.

But consolidation of Hindu votes and rise of Hindu nationalist sentiment across India in favor of BJP in 2014 and 2019 general elections have exposed the Islamism of Congress politics. The Communist and most of the regional so-called secular parties, which were extensions of Congress sponsored Islamism in India, were also reduced substantially along with Congress.

The seven decades old Congress sponsored banyan tree of Islamism in Indian politics was demolished by BJP in 2014 and 2019 general elections. The swan song of defeated and frustrated Congress-Islamic-Communist-Secularist eco-system is loud and clear now in its propaganda narratives of intolerance, authoritarianism, Hindu fascism, destroying of secular fabric, destroying of Constitution, brute majoritarianism, bigoted Hindutva, terrorist RSS, Islamophobia, Muslim lynching, fearful Muslims of India, and Hindu Rashtra etc.

However, in spite of so much of Islamism, Congress leadership failed miserably to save Hindus in Pakistan (and Bangladesh) after 1947. Not surprisingly Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi don’t shy away, even today, from bashing Hindus and Hinduism. For two decades, Sonia Gandhi led Congress tried to crush the rise of Modi led BJP in Indian politics by falsely implicating Modi in the 2002 Gujarat riot. Sonia Gandhi’s uncouth statement about Modi as Maut Ka Saudagar was based on her being a Murdo ka Saudagar.

Congress is becoming irrelevant in Indian politics day by day after 2014. Many senior leaders have left the party recently. But it still clings to Islamism as its core policy. Today’s Congress has been hijacked by evil Communists and violent Islamists. Though the political journey of Congress is more than one hundred years old, the party has become a national disgrace now.
