Never before in Indian Independent history did a "non-military" issue evoked such Nationalistic sentiments among the people. Because it was not about brahaminism, casteism or Hindu-Muslim; this time it was all about "Nationalism".

Pakistan Military doctrine is an extensive document focused solely on India and Islam, mentioning two important terms which spills out their strategy- "Ghazwa-e-Hind" and "bleed India with a thousand cuts".

India lead by Atal Bihari Vajpayee tried immensely to give peace a chance. It worked round the clock to engage Pakistan despite Kargil war thrust upon herself by Pakistan.
