Mr Javed Akhtar, you are renowned for your excellent contribution to the film industry. Winning awards in different categories such as a screenwriter, lyricist or even as a poet, you have excelled in every field. However, recently there has been a lot of controversy and lot of debate on the issues of the film Padmavati, and one thing I have noticed from you is the abundance of hypocrisy, and selective targeting.
Seeing the controversy involving the film Padmavati, you thought it would be right to further spark the issue by commenting negatively on Rajputs. My question to you is that, if this was an issue related to your religion, would you have the guts to comment like that?
Oh, there was such incidence. Remember Sonu Nigam? No? let me politely remind you, Sonu Nigam belonging to the same industry as yours had a Radical Maulvi issuing a fatwa and with a Rs 10 Lakh prize money to whoever shaves his head. To maintain the misused word of secularism you thought it would be best to trigger more controversy in Padmavati and thought it would be best if you kept quite against the radical Imam. You only chose to say that prayers should not disturb anyone, but did not express your views about the Imam or his fatwa. Not that your opinion on Sonu Nigam bounty would have changed anything, but some sort of support was expected.
Moving on, remember Gurmehar Kaur and her so called stand of freedom of expression? No? Let me remind you. Sports personalities which have and continue to make India proud in various sports were called Illiterate by you. Their only fault was that they stood by their opinion which was different from your’s and stood by the Indian Army.
Now recently in Twitter, I came across a tweet of yours. In this tweet, it clearly shows that for someone to express their opinion, they have to prove fairness, by agreeing with you, and if they do not, then, they simply have no right to express their viewpoint. So much of freedom of expression advocated brilliantly by you. Also, this tweet was in response of someone who had questioned your silence in Sonu Nigam’s case. So where does secularism come from?
Finally, to conclude, don’t take this open letter, to be hateful of your views and thoughts. It is in fact an open letter, to show you a mirror of how your hypocrisy has grown. Hopefully you would understand, that instead of spreading negativity in the name of secularism and freedom of expression, you should think something positive.
Before the Supreme Court begins the final hearings on the Ram Janmabhoomi case from December 5, India’s mainstream English media has begun pressing its foot on the propaganda gas pedal to portray the Hindu Right Wing in poor light.
Indian Express, as its front page lead story on Saturday, carried the comment of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat in Bengaluru that “Ram Mandir alone will be built, nothing else will be built.” The newspaper also published the outrage of Muslim law board’s hardliner Asaduddin Owaisi on the remark.
The Leftist media and academicians would look to spread lies and propaganda from now on against the idea of “Ram Mandir” as a violation of India’s secularist spirit and as a disregard to apex judiciary, Supreme Court.
So it’s time we firmly nail the lie of these presstitutes—both Lutyens Media and academicians of JNU kind—before they succeed in vitiating communal harmony and poisoning unsuspecting minds.
The litigation in Supreme Court was filed by parties in contention to the Allahabad High Court’s Ayodhya judgment on September 30, 2010 which ran into 8500 pages. (The entire judgment is available on the website of India’s National Integration Council: rjbm.nic.in).
The three-member High Court bench had then ruled that the “Babri Masjid had indeed been built on a religious Hindu site.“ The bench had further imposed respect for the verified Hindu convention of treating the site as Rama’s birthplace. (As an aside, even the 1989 Encyclopaedia Brittanica had mentioned Ayodhya Ramjanambhoomi as a Hindu temple destroyed in the name of first Mughal Emperor, Babur).
As can be imagined, the High Court bench had arrived at the judgment after years of diligence and painstaking research and cross-examination which validated the claims of Hindu Right Wing groups.
In 2002, High Court asked for Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) to be used to confirm if the long-held tradition of a temple beneath the disputed Babri Masjid site was true. The verdict was overwhelmingly affirmative. High Court then asked the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) to verify the GPR claim with its own excavations.
The ASI report (ASI 2003) said: “Excavations at the disputed site of Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid was carried out by the ASI from March 12, 2003 to August 7, 2003. 82 trenches were excavated.” The ASI’s verdict was there are “remains which are distinctive features found associated with the temples of north India.”
It was a huge setback for “Ram Janmabhoomi” opponents. But more damning was the judicial word on the so-called academicians and experts for the fraud and wool they tried to pull over the eyes of the High Court bench.
The Allahabad High Court reprimanded the JNU “historians and academicians”, for their flawed research and vested opinions. One Professor Mandal, who had written a book against the Hindu claim, was found never to have even visited Ayodhya!!! These independent experts, historians and archaeologists had appeared on behalf of the Waqf Board.
One of the three judges, Justice Sudhir Agarwal, in particular, put these experts under judicial scrutiny. Most of these experts were made to depose twice.
These “historians”, before the ASI excavations, had said there was no temple beneath the mosque. Once the buried structure was under-earthed, they claimed it was a “mosque” or “stupa.”
They were then subjected to a grueling cross-examination by Justice Agarwal and his opinion runs over several pages in the final report. Damningly, these independent “historians and experts” were all shown to have connections. For example, one had done a PhD under the other, another had contributed an article to a book written by a witness.
These “historians” who had written signed articles and issued pamphlets, were found by the Honourable Judge to have an “ostrich-like attitude” to facts. The cookie crumbled quickly enough:
One Suvira Jaiswal deposed “whatever knowledge I gained with respect to disputed site is based on newspaper reports or what others (experts) told !!!”
Supriya Verma, another expert who challenged the ASI excavations, had not read the GPR survey report that led the court to order an excavation. Verma and Jaya Menon had alleged that the pillar bases at the excavation site had been planted but HC found their claim to be false. Verma had done her PhD under another expert Shereen Ratnagar who had written the “introduction” to the book of another expert Professor Mandal, who as said hadn’t even visited Ayodhya! Shereen Ratngar indeed admitted she had no field experience.
Justice Agarwal noted that opinions had been offered without proper investigation, research or study in the subject. The judge said he was “startled and puzzled” by contradictory statements. He referred to signed statements issued by experts and noted that “instead of helping in making a cordial atmosphere, it tends to create more complications, conflict and controversy.”
So mark out reports on Ayodhya issue in Lutyens Media from now on. Note down these reporters and authors who would flood you with reams of columns. Make a scrap of their lies, distortions and propaganda. For it sure is going to dominate your newspapers like Rohingya Muslims did not long ago.
On October 21, 1996, during the 51st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), the United Nations Security Council election were held, where India suffered a monumental diplomatic disaster, losing a non-permanent seat to Japan by 40-142 votes. This was a surprise shock considering the self-perceived image of India being a benign power in all the Cold War years.
However, tables were gradually turned when in 2010, after 19 years India won the election for non-permanent membership in UNGA after securing 187/191 votes. The wheel turned full circle when recently Justice Dalveer Bhandari was elected as a judge in ICJ (International Court of Justice) for 2018-27 defeating UK’s Christopher Greenwood after 11 rounds of gruesome ballots in both UNGA and the UNSC.
The ICJ headquartered in Hague, is the judicial branch of the United Nations. The ICJ has 15 judges for nine-year term whereby five judges are elected every three years. No two judges may be nationals of the same country. A judge can be dismissed only by a unanimous vote of the other members of the Court, and the judges are expected to remain neutral when disputes irrespective of nations in the party of dispute including their own nation.
This victory was monumental, as for the first time, the informal understanding that Asia to have three judges in the ICJ was breached with India occupying the 4th spot displacing allocation generally reserved for a Western European nation. Also, this would be the first time when any P5 nation will not be represented in the ICJ since its inception in 1945. Moreover, the UK for the first time will not be having any of its judges in the ICJ. Further, this is the first time that any sitting judge has defeated another sitting judge (UK’s Christopher Greenwood was already in ICJ for nine years).
The ferocious diplomatic battle went for 11 ballot rounds where India received 121 votes in the UNGA (almost 2/3rd), and the UK won 9/15 votes in the UNSC. This led to a stalemate as ICJ judge is needed to be elected by a majority in both the UNGA and the UNSC. Finally, UK decided to withdraw its candidature in the 12th round, and India won 182/193 votes in UNGA, and 15/15 in UNSC making way for Justice Bhandari in ICJ.
This withdrawal of UK was not on moral grounds but was purely a strategic calculation. As reported by The Hindu, “After India raised the issue with Trump administration, it suspended its campaign for British nominee.” This was in reference to UK’s pursuit of an unprecedented “joint conference” mechanism where three UNGA members and three UNSC members will decide on next ICJ judge.
The US rejected UK’s demand for suspending the ongoing voting in the UNGA and UNSC after New Delhi approached Washington at the highest diplomatic level. To avoid further embarrassment, the UK decided to withdraw its candidate from further voting rounds and gracefully declared that, “If the UK could not win in this run-off, then we are pleased that it is a close friend like India that has done so instead. We will continue to cooperate closely with India, here in the United Nations and globally.” Also, it was becoming morally untenable for the UK to ignore the voice of almost 2/3rd of nations who had already voted in India’s favour.
This comes as a huge blow for the UK after Brexit, when recently Paris and Amsterdam won the authority to host key EU agencies namely the European Banking Authority (EBA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) respectively which were previously housed in London.
The reason for this victory is majorly due to India’s assertive diplomacy, where it is not ideologically inhibited to break old shibboleths, India’s diplomatic ideals and declining power of 19th-century superpower UK.
India’s foreign policy after PM Modi’s coming to power has adapted greater pragmatism and developed self-assurance to undertake calculated risks. The Modi doctrine could be well established as comfortably out of the vestiges of colonialism by the pursuit of hard-nosed diplomacy. India is no longer refraining itself from pursuing its national interests and has thus been willing to ensure New Delhi’s place at global high tide. As scholar Brahma Chellaney puts it, “the doctrinaire nonalignment of cold war era is gradually transformed to geopolitical pragmatism.”
Moreover, India has been historically been committed to Global Institutions and their rulings. India believes in global harmony and rule-based order owing to its historical principles of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”, “Sarva Dhamma Sambhav”, “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhina”. India also gains huge soft power and diplomatic capital by its active role in UN Peacekeeping forces where India is a major contributor. India’s outreach to Africa, Latin America, Pacific islands through channels of economic diplomacy and soft power sources like Yoga, Gandhi and Bollywood adds to Indian power, especially in the UNGA.
Also, UK is no more a force, as it previously used to be. Prime Minister Theresa May, is already going through rough and patchy waters owing to Brexit negotiations and disastrous election results in 2017. The EU seems comfortably placed even without the UK, and recent elections in France, Germany, Netherlands has put Pro-European leaders at the forefront of EU. The UK is no longer a great economy, and possibly in a year or two, the Indian economy will pass two P5 nations UK & France.
This victory has huge significance for India, as it acts as a shot in the arm for its UNSC candidature in future. This needs to be seen in context as in India also defeated another P5 nation, China, in 2011 when it was elected to the United Nations’ Joint Inspection Unit (JIU), beating the Middle Kingdom in a direct fight for the lone seat from the Asia-Pacific region. These victories depict the newly emerging global order which no longer accepts the post-World War II status-quo and wishes for change suited as per time and needs.
The world has begun to see New Delhi as a global power and a ‘balancer’ whose rise seems imminent. A recent Morgan Stanley report stated that India would become a $6 trillion economy by 2026-27, becoming third largest economy within the next decade.
Ignoring a major economy and the third largest military power will become harder for P5 nations in future. This victory, however, must not slow us down, and India must continue to engage itself both politically and economically in global affairs with the aim of becoming not just an effective ‘veto player’ but also a successful ‘agenda setter.’
The recent hullabaloo regarding Padmavati has got me thinking whether or not the media in our country is really interested in giving us news or not. Because it seems a major piece of news may have slipped out of their hands and some in the national media have not cared to report on it.
Recently an event was held in New Delhi under the ageis of ‘Delhi Action Committee for Assam’, organised by a organisation called Jaimat Ulama-E- Hind attended by intellectuals of Assam like Mr. Hiren Gohain. The event or rather press conference was held to express their views on citizenship to migrants in Assam in the NRC (National Register of citizens).
To give you more context, Assam has battling heavy influx of illegal immigrants on it’s soul ever since partition and the areas surrounding Bangladesh have seen an unprecedented rise in the population of Muslims. The last census conducted in 2011have shown a 30% rise of the Muslim community and in absolute majority in almost 12 of the 27 districts in Assam. What is interesting almost all the districts where Muslim population is on the rise share borders with Bangladesh. District like Dhubri, Barpeta, Hailakandi, Karimganj, Goalpara are a prime example. This has led to a major change in demography of the state. Thee indigenous tribes of Assam are living in a constant fear of losing their identity. Take the example of Barpeta, a district cum town in West Assam which was once famous for it’s Vashnavite culture founded by Srimanta Shankardev- the Great Vashnavite Preacher and scholar has seen an complete overhaul in it’s demography.
Satras (Temples for Vashnavite) have been destroyed in large numbers and land has been snatched away from the locals by these illegal immigrants and this is not even the story of only district of the entire state of Assam and as such that state have sudden rise of Radical Islam in the recent months. Once such event occurred in Nagaon where the students of NSUI belonging to the Muslim community set a Bihu Gamosa (towel) on fire. The Gamosa is a very important part of Assamese tradition and culture. In another instance, the president of All Assam Minorities Student Union, said in a panel discussion on a local news channel and I quote “Axom ot Axomiyagiri Nosolibo”.(Assameseness won’t work in Assam). Now I wonder if Assameseness won’t work in Assam, then what will?
The NRC contains the names of legitimate Indian Citizen with a cutoff date of 24/03/1971 and the people settling after the cut off date will be demented illegal immigrants. The conference held by Jaimat Ulama-E- Hind got into news because of a statement by it’s president Maulana Syed Madani said if the names of Muslims are not included in the NRC, there will be bloodshed and violence in the state even saying that it will turn into a second Burma. His highly communal and violence inciting statement has condemned all over the state and the leader has recently been booked for inciting violence.
I was not aware of news until a few days ago until I saw this tweet by- Soulefacts:
Muslim Ldr Jamiat Ulama-E-Hind president Maulana Syed Arshad Madani, threatening, will make Assam like Mayanmar, 50 Lac Muslims will attack and kill Hindus, if names of Muslims are not included in updated NRC…..Why SC is silent….Oh! SC busy saving Judges???? pic.twitter.com/CfoJgZP8V9
Dear Sir @manjit_mahanta you was the Leader in arranging the tour for the entire group. How come u say urself as a senior Journalist when you and your group actually gate crashed into Madani”s Press Conference ? The application clearly says it was booked by Madani@NANDANPRATIMpic.twitter.com/QO9B4dWunx
None of the media houses or major print players ran a major story on the issue. This is another example of our liberal media who chose to down playing the rise of radicalization of Islam in Assam and other states but print a front page news and hold number of discussion and debates when some fringe elements from the right wing is on the rise. Their selectivity is astonishing and their ignorance painful.
But then people living in Lutyens Delhi will never understand the pain and agony of losing one’s land, culture, traditions and identity being taken taken over by an alien force.
Haryana. Newly crowned miss world Manushi Chhillar strongly denied rumours of a Bollywood entry; to complete the remaining years in college and to serve the country as a doctor, it is learnt by OPIndia.
“Miss world or miss universe or miss outer space, eventually the winner from India will enter Bollywood, Tollywood or Kholiwood and dance opposite incomprehensible so called heroes. It is so unfortunate that a beauty contest winner cannot look beyond some kind of wood for career and success. I am going to be different. Will finish m.b.b.s and will serve the country in rural areas”, miss Manushi Chhillar told OPIndia.
“Look at what has happened to Sen, Dutta and Mookhey. They all made entries in Bollywood only to disappear completely in a few years. Had they stuck to their initial plans, we probably would have known them differently and not as failed actresses. I can never understand how can anyone who worked so hard to succeed can choose a path of failure”, Manushi further added.
When OPIndia reminded her that the beauty contest is over and she can answer normally, the miss world winner took a deep breath and said, “I am just waiting for the first call from Bollywood. If Karan Johar calls, I will consider that as a good omen. I have already informed the college authorities that I will only visit the college the same number of times as Sachin visited the Rajya Sabha. With that analogy, the college has understood that they cannot disqualify me from appearing for the exams”
By the time this article is going for the publication, the newly crowned miss world has already received 2 calls for appearing in as many movies for an item song. Also, she has been part of the story discussions in as much as 10 movies, reliable sources from Bollywood told OPIndia.
I will start with clearing one thing: Indian communists are different from Chinese Communists. First, let’s see if they are really Anti-India.
Not In My Name Protests led by Left Party.
1. You all must have heard about these protests which happened in June, this year. It was a protest against hatred and the killing of innocents by the ‘suspected’ cow vigilantes. I don’t know why this all is happening and who is responsible for these attacks. Politics is a very dirty game after all. Whosoever did these lynchings; we Indians condemn it.
These NOTINMYNAME protests were led by communists. Probably, these started with a facebook post of Saba Dewan.
In the picture: [CPI MP D Raja with others taking part in a silent protest “Not in My Name” against the targeted lynching, at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi]Now, have a look at two more lynchings. I am sure most of you have not heard about the first one.
2. He is Gowhar Ahmed. Radical Islamic Terrorists killed him for being a Nationalist. There was no cow vigilantism involved in his case. But he was a living human being who got killed. But there were no protests.
Two lynchings which attracted no outrage or media attention:
The above two issues were not considered as lynchings by Liberals and therefore, no protests. Why such hypocrisy?
Reason is simple. Liberal Leftists (includes communists) don’t get Masala in a Muslim mob killing a Muslim because it won’t spread hate. It won’t lead to riots. And if communities don’t hate each other as well as the Government, how will their purpose of dividing the country will get fulfilled?
Killing of any person, belonging to any religion, any caste or any party, is a crime and as Indians, we should condemn every incident against humanity, not just popularize the selected ones.
Life of a Muslim = Life of a Christian = Life of a Hindu
What do you get to learn about Communists from this:
Communists never care about our country. They hate peace and spread hate by presenting one-sided blood boiling stories on the self-proclaimed independent websites like wire.in and trending related hashtags on twitter.
Everyone knows late Gauri Lankesh. She was a proud comrade and this is what she used to share! NO Indian would ever do that provided (s)he is not a Communist.
Second proof of Anti-India nature of comrades.
She was unfortunately killed. Again, there were protests and candle marches. Her death will be mourned every year in JNU, that’s for sure. But does anyone know about another journalist who was shot just after two days. His name is Pankaj Mishra. All media channels and their hired pseudo liberal gang were silent.
Will leftists condemn this: Simple plain answer: NO, Never! Rape allegations on Indian Army. Comrades keep on tweeting such things.
I haven’t been to Kashmir but I have some friends from Kashmir. I asked one guy about this and he said “There are a few cases”. A few cases happen everywhere. (I am not justifying, what is wrong is wrong and those who do it should be punished.) But she shouldn’t generalize like this and further spread hate amongst Kashmiris.
On one hand you are exaggerating and on the other you are hiding. Yes, why don’t you show concern for the rapes done by Naxalites.
Yes Indian Army rapes in Kashmir, and protects the rapists, for decades. Buy the book Do You Remember Kunan… https://t.co/XEISNQqZAQ
This party didn’t support India during Indo- China war. They had their slogan- “China’s chairman is our Chairman”, during the Naxalbari uprising years of 1970’s. They made complete chaos in the Parliament when Pokharan Nuclear Missile Tests during Vajpayee regime.
They questioned the surgical strike on Pakistan.
How can anyone think of communists doing anything good for the Nation? Good thing is that, they are getting wiped out from the country. Now except Tripura, Kerala and West Bengal, they are only in Jawaharlal Nehru University and Jadavpur University.
I have provided enough evidences to prove that Communists are anti- India. Like Pakistan spreads false news about India, leftists too do. Leftists incite the Naxalites to kill police, they spread hatred among Kashmiris against Indian Army.
Why do they do this? Why do they hate India?
Maybe because the basic ideas of communism is not in line with nationalistic views. They want complete control of the nation. They are creating chaos, insecurity and stimulating sub national identities. All such things are done to bring down our ethnic, linguistic, religious and nationalistic consciousness. And therefore, increase the feeling of class distinction, which is important for a revolution. They are patiently waiting for the the right time for revolution.
Since, the idea of nationalism is deeply rooted in Indians, they are a bit frustrated now. The fact is that : Communist philosophy has become outdated and cannot be applied to present times. These communist hypocrites are living in the past, while personally themselves observe capitalist life style.
Leftists are such fake liars that sometimes, I doubt these Red Salutes when they start spreading news about lynchings. Since, they don’t care for the country, there is one possibility. I am just saying this (I am not sure):
What if leftists themselves wear orange dresses and kill someone with a cow. And then shout 2–3 slogans, click pics of themselves and then start tweeting and sharing on facebook. It takes 2 minutes to spread news these days. They can do anything.
Hindus have now reached the crossroads. The protests against the despicable depiction of Rajput Rani Padmavati in the movie has been heavily reviled by the left-liberal media. Now it is a do or die situation for Hindus as in the past, Hindus legitimate protests against the repeated defilement of their faiths and beliefs in Bollywood movies, Political sphere, Social life are all have been downplayed in a most shame full manner by the left lenient media.
However, the success rate for Hindus is far from satisfactory. Today I think Hindus have reached the crossroads and any submission by Hindus at this juncture on the issue of ‘Padmavati’, having taken the moratorium this far, will be a Waterloo for Hindus. Any meek submission on Padmavati will be catastrophic for the Hindus in general and the unity of this nation in particular. Because a legitimate ‘concern’ of Hindus cannot be downplayed and downgraded to please the Muslims in particular and other non-Hindu minorities in general. However contrary to the established virtues, things are moving exactly in reverse.
Leftists have carved a niche long ago and declared their Magna Carta, by which they asserted for bolstering the cause of Muslims and other religious minorities in the event of any ideological and moral confrontation with Hindus. So they base their support on the ‘Muslim constituent’ that is present in the ‘title’ of every protest of Hindus. Similarly, the Leftists stand in respect of a Muslims protests too, is perpetually in support of the same ‘Muslim constituent that is present in the ‘title’ of the Muslims protest.
So either way, Leftists have made it a ritual that in either of the situations, their support always goes to Muslims all the time, despising the Hindus. Hence we can find their eagerness to protect the image of a villain and plunderer that is Allauddin Khilji who was indicted for his cruel acts of mayhem bloodshed, mass execution of innocent Hindu populace, his frolicking indulgence in lesbigay activities, maintaining a huge army of homophile slaves that include the famous Malik Kaufar.
We can only exonerate Bansali, and certify his neutrality only and only if he had diligently maintained the balance, to show Khalji killing of innocent Hindus, his sexual escapade with his general Malik Kafur (not necessarily in a graphical manner though) and avoid unwarranted and hurtful scenes of Padmavati singing duet with Khalji and somnophilia with him)
The Left-liberals are steadfast in jumping into to the brawl with the sole aim of protecting the Muslims’s interest, disregarding the rationale and probity behind such protests of Hindus. Hence liberal’s now erected a permanent edifice of a notion to support the Muslims and other non-Hindu minorities all the time, and in all issues, irrespective of the fact whether their concerns are unreasonable or otherwise with out regarding to the legitimacy of the other side. Precisely for this reason alone our media extend its blind support to Akbar, Allauddin Khilji, Aurangzeb, Tipu Sultan and discredit Shivaji, Rana Pratap, Rani Padmavati and other Hindu warriors.
So it is unlikely in the future, where we can dream of a situation where liberals and rightwingers joining hands in condemning the dogmatism of Hindus and non-Hindus as well. In fact, such a shared vision alone can be called secularism, a true secularism. However, the liberals have twisted it to mean to blindly flatter Muslims and other minorities, be it the Islamic Terrorism or Mullah’s fatwas, or female genital mutilations. They are only worried about ‘female infanticide’ among Hindu populace in Tamil Nadu and other ills in Hindu society.
It is time for Hindus to unite from Kashmir to Kanyakumari to take on this Padmavati terminal situation that is hovering over Hindus head now. Because as I explained above, any smugness on the part of Hindus this time, means a death knell. So I chart out the following action plan to put a permanent end to this Hindu bashing.
1) Ministry of I& B should constitute a committee of renowned intellectuals from Hindu fold.(Since this is a Hindu concerned row, non-Hindus, Leftists are not to be allowed)
2) A pre-screening to be arranged before this select elite members. The members then identify the scenes where it hurts Hindus more, disgrades the Rajputana women in particular and any scenes glorifying Khalji and others to put forth a suggestion that such scenes are either modified or deleted completely.
3) Finally after having through the above process, the name of the movie Padmavati’ to be changed to any neutral Hindu female names. Under any circumstances the name ‘Padmavati’ has to be changed as it is their own argument that the movie is based on a fiction, and then once a ‘fiction’ that fiction need not necessarily with a protagonist being Padmavati then, it can be either a Deepika or Sagarika too.
Rajasthani protesters, RSS, and other RW intellectuals should take note and mobilize ourselves to petition the concerned Ministers in this regard to achieve the above goal quickly before Gujarat polls or immediately after.
With the assembly elections looming in the near future, next year to be precise, in Meghalaya, one of the major issues at the forefront on the campaigns of various political parties will be the issue of coal trading in the state, which is facing huge anti-incumbency and is one of the few remains states in which Congress is in power with Mukul Sangma as the Chief Minister.
The Congress has been in power for as long as one can remember due to the lack of a strong opposition. The NCP under the leadership of the Late Purno Sangma, who served as Chief Minister when he was part of the INC before splitting from the party due to differences with party supremo, Sonia Gandhi, did reasonably well in the Garo belt of the state but that wasn’t enough for the party to form government in the state . With the BJP desperately trying to make inroads into the state, the issue becomes all the more critical.
To cut of the chase , NGT on April 2014 put a blanket ban on coal mining in Meghalaya . As most of you may know, Meghalaya is one of the most mineral rich states in the country. It has huge deposited of coal, limestone and Uranium. Limestone and Uranium are mostly concentrated around the Khashi and Jaintia Hills. Coal deposits can found along the eastern stretch of Garo hills and parts of Khasi and Jaintila Hills, but is mostly concentrated around the Garo Hills.
A large number of people in the area as well as a sizable portion from the neighbouring state of Assam used to work in this coal field as daily wage labourers. Most of the truck owners carrying coal from the mines to Jagirhopa – a town in Bongaigaon district of Assam, from where it was transported elsewhere to the country. The type of practice prevalent here is called Rat Hole Ming. For those unfamiliar, this mining is done by digging small holes in the ground, much like holes dug by rats. Miners break the rocks with axes and other hand held equipment, and material is carried out using buckets and basket. Sometimes, the hole dug is so deep that it is almost impossible to see or breathe inside the area and many labourers suffer suffocation and other related ailments.
On April 2 2014, The All Dimasa Student’s Union moved the Tribunal blaming the rat hole mining in the area for the pollution in Kopili River and turning its water acidic, following which the ban came into force.
While a group of section of people and environmentalist supported the order, a major section of the common public reacted negatively to the order as it affected their livelihood. Various trader and labour unions were up in the arms against the order and protested vigorously against the order through out the state arguing that coal can only be only mined through rat role mining as scientific mining will not be possible due to prevalent land rules in the state where Nokmas (meaning Mother of the House or one who owns the land) are to be taken into confidence. The small area of coal deposits is said to be another reason why scientific mining is not feasible in Meghlaya.
To merely say it has affected only the people in the region would be a big understatement as the entire economy of the region is in shambles presently due to the ban. Large number of labourers both from the state and from the adjoining state of Assam have been rendered jobless with some looking for alternate ways of income. This has in turn made the locals who earlier worked in the mines turn into crime as the state has witnessed rampant cases of kidnapping, extortion and robbery, some even in broad daylight. The traders in the region has been affected as sales over the years have dipped drastically.
The SC recently allowed transportation of extracted coal from 1st December till 31st March. Around 8 Metric Tonnes of extracted coal is to be transported during this period.
It has been three and half years albeit neither the Tribunal nor the state government has come with concrete solution to tackle the issue. In this regard, the incumbent Government led by Mukul Sangma of the Congress, who belongs to the Garo Hills, have failed his people and the state in the highest of order. NGT proposed the state government to prepare State Mining Law, which has not yet been tabled in the assembly.
The BJP and its main allies in the state NPP (National People Party), founded by late Purno Sangma after he resigned from NCP and led by his son Comrad Sangma and the UDP (United Democratic Party) have attacked the government on this font severely over the years. With the formation of North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) with its root plan of uprooting the Congress from power in the North East, there couldn’t have a better time for them in the state. Several members of the Miners association and union have put their weight behind BJP, with some of them formally joining the party in the recent times.
BJP, on its part has promised to lift the NGT ban as soon as it comes to power, along with promising better transportation and education system, which is in a pretty bad shape in the state.
With the next election approaching, the Congress have a very tough task at hand. It has already lost power in almost all the North Eastern states, except for Meghalaya and Mizoram (both Christian majority states). Ironically before the 2014 elections, Congress was in power in all the states except for Sikkim and Tripura, and thus it cannot at any cost afford to lose Meghalaya.
BJP has make it intention clear by strengthening its party cadre, declaring that that there will no beef ban in the state to wee to woo the electorate. But it comes down to who puts forth a more sustainable plan for the coal miners and planning their campaign around this particular.
All said and done , Coal will inevitably decide the fate of Elections in Meghalaya next year.
New Delhi. On a smoggy evening, a boy in mid twenties wrongly held a stranger girl’s hand in the capital city. The mishap resulted in two breakups with immediate effect, it is learnt by OP India.
“My boyfriend is a hopeless romantic. He always holds hand in public and is never shy of any kind of public display of affection. Even though I secretly like his gestures, I always used to be wary of circumstances. Our city helps us a lot. No one normally bothers to look at us. In recent weeks, no one actually could look at us, even if they so bothered. Then this boy goes ahead and hold hands of a bimbo and spoils everything” the girl told OP India.
“I didn’t notice it at first. Actually, I couldn’t notice it. He didn’t hold my hand for 10 minutes and I started to feel something was wrong. I stretched both my hands and looked for him and missed to find him. The battery powered hair dryer came to my rescue, as I deftly removed the device out from my handbag and blew the smog around me. It was horrific to see him holding hands of an absolute bimbo. In fact, I had caught them before something more could happen” she further added about the uncompromising stand her ex-boyfriend was about to take, despite the smog.
“I saw my girlfriend holding hands with this weird looking guy. I couldn’t see them initially to prevent this holding of hands from happening. Actually, I couldn’t see anything around me. Then there was a blow of hot air from someone standing close to him and everything became visible to everyone. With a heavy heart, I broke up with my girlfriend of many months” the boy involved in the second break-up of the evening from that area told OP India.
“The moment I held her hand, I realised that it was someone else. I tried to shake my hands away but the girl gripped on to a strong hold. It was not my mistake” the break-up number one told Faking news. “I thought it was my boyfriend who never holds hands, and really is hopeless and not a romantic. Until the hot air from a raging girl, I didn’t see a thing” the girl, only known as a bimbo among everyone involved, told OP India.
Post the incident, many couples from the capital city are asking the government for some kind of an odd-even rule for relationships too, it is now learnt by OP India.
Experience is said to be the best teacher. Like we learn from our own experiences and move forward, we can get inspired by success stories of others too. It is equally applicable for individuals, organizations and even nations. If it benefits us and the society, we can learn from good examples of even our enemies.
According to reports, China’s social media and video game major Tencent has become more valuable company than Facebook. The success of Tencent is phenomenal.
Here we are not attempting to analyze the pros and cons of Tencent’s success. The fact is that a purely China-centred company has overtaken global giants like the Facebook. The success story of Tencent is worth studying and replicating.
Tencent’s stunning success is a wake-up call for Indian entrepreneurs. Why can’t we start an Indian version of Tencent? We have the talents and skills with the best information technology and digital experts available locally. We have the resources and infrastructure. There is no dearth of innovative ideas in India. Then, what is stopping us?
It can be argued that Facebook and Twitter are blocked in China facilitating a conducive monopolistic business climate for Tencent to flourish. Whereas, India has been the favourite playground of global IT and digital giants. Partially true. Partially because if we develop a “desi” version with competent features and offerings at par with global players, we can certainly succeed. The Indian government should patronize such ventures.
We are not advocating for banning or blocking foreign players. We are only suggesting to make use of our superiority in competency and entrepreneurship in full. Don’t limit it to IT and digital spaces. A globally dominating Indian company in any field is welcome.
Yes, we do have our own highly successful corporates. But nothing to compare with Tencent.
There is sense in the argument that China is not a democratic country like India. To succeed like China, we don’t need to adopt a one-party system. For us, our multi-party democracy is the best system. What we need is government protection for swadeshi companies and their products and services of global standards, at affordable costs, so that foreign players won’t exploit our vast market.
Let us hope our government and entrepreneurs will rise to the Chinese challenges and become successful sooner than later.
