An Attempt To Commercialize #Metoo Bites The Dust

0

A cosmetic brand Hard Candy failed to own exclusivity of #metoo movement for its products to fight the patriarchy, by withdrawing its trademark application.

The ‘Hash-tag Me Too’ movement captivated the entire social media back in October 2017. The movement was predominantly initiated by the Hollywood celebs to unveil the dark side of the rape culture worldwide.

The Emergence of #metoo

The # metoo campaign helps to spread awareness of the prevalent sexual harassment and misconduct in the society. In October 2017 the campaign became viral on Twitter to demonstrate the allegations of sexual assault against Harvey Weinstein, a film producer.

However, #MeToo movement was initially created by Ms Burke back in 2007. Tarana Burke is a social activist who helps victims of sexual harassment.

In spite of being under a long usage, the phrase swept the social media like twitter and facebook when Alyssa Milano, a popular actress tweeted to urge all the women across the globe to stand for the cause. The tweet asked all the women who had ever been in such a thin situation to write ‘#metoo’ as their status.

Since then the movement went viral like a fire. Millions of women have been stepping forward to publically denounce their experiences.

 #Metoo soon became a revolution!
The campaign soon laid seeds to nurture an anti-sexual harassment movement led by the Hollywood stars under the name and style of the ‘Time’s Up Movement’.

The efforts of celebs like Eva Longoria, America Ferrera, Reese Witherspoon and Rhimes took off the limelight at the Annual Golden Globe Awards where the Hollywood decided to adorn in black to support the cause of sexual harassment.

Hard Candy’s attempt to Trademark #MeToo
When the public was busy reuniting for the cause, on the other end of the world, Hard Candy attempted to trademark the ‘Hashtag MeToo’ for a collection of its beauty products.

In the attempt to gain from the first mover advantage, of being the first to secure their exclusive rights over the cause, they filed a Trademark application on 20th October 2017.

The Application for trademark registration was filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark bearing the serial number 87,653,745 under the following classes:

• International Class 3 ( Cosmetics and Cleaning preparations)

• US Classes 1,4,6,50,51,52 (Cosmetics and Fragrances)

This implies if the trademarks were approved, then Hard Candy would become the only company to use such a phrase for its cosmetic products and fragrances.

Hard Candy withdrew its Trademark claims
Hard Candy is a Cosmetics brand which sells its products through Walmart. The worldwide criticism instigated the company to abandon the Trademark application for #MeToo.

It was the smart timing of filing the trademark, just after the social movement got viral which made the world to criticize the brand. People started to rebuke the efforts of the beauty company to mint profits off a socio-political campaign.

The company slashes down all the allegations of making money by glorifying the anti-sexual assault culture by revealing their intentions. They claimed that they aimed to spread the word further and to donate all the proceeds to the women globally affiliated with the #MeToo cause.

The trend still Continues
Presently there are four applications to trademark #Metoo with the US Patent and Trademark.

Moreover, constant attempts have been made by companies to link its products to the campaign in the stride to join the cause. A Lipstick named ‘F*ck Hollywood’ was launched by Lip Slut just before the Golden Globe Awards to help survivors of sexual assault by donating all its proceeds to the cause.

Padmaavat review: A visual spectacle with one major issue

0

Today I watched Padmaavat. I love history, especially the Indian history. I always wonder how our ancestors, kings, queens of the past were like, what did they wear, how did they walk, talk, eat, etc. However, history is a very delicate subject and one cannot take the liberty to play with historical figures. I have been fairly disappointed with Bollywood’s previous attempts on historical movies (there has been only a handful of them). Many of the past movies are downright false and offensive. For example, I can bet more than 99% of the people you know think Jodha was Akbar’s wife. She probably wasn’t. She was the mother of Shah Jahan according to many historical texts.

Refer to page-246 Satish Chandra, History of Medieval India, part of NCERT’s old curriculum

This is a controversial issue. Jodha Bai like Padmavati is a part of Rajput’s history and their pride. That’s what made the Rajput community lose faith in Bollywood and one of the major reasons for the whole drama (there are many other reasons but I will not get into that topic).
Coming back to the movie, I have divided my review into positives and negatives.

Positives:

The whole movie is visually stunning. We expect this from Mr Sanjay Bhansali (SB). This movie is worth watching just for the visuals. 3D is surprisingly decent. The movie embraces the history in its most glorious form. The camera transitions make sure you have the best field of view for the whole galore of a particular scene. The attention to details is remarkable. From the Rajputana jewellery, clothing, palaces, swords to Khilji’s clothing, their way of walking, food. Many people complained about the extravagant jewellery shown in the movie. My advice to them is to visit National Museum in Delhi and have a look at Rajput jewellery for themselves. If any, the original Rajput jewellery used to have more precious stones.
The background score is another big positive. It’s spot on and makes you feel like you’re in 13th-14th century Rajasthan. The best part of the score comes at the climax and the departure of Padmavati feels like a Goddess entering into the fire.
The story and the depiction did justice to the Rajput culture, though I am not so sure about the Khilji’s (which I will cover later).
Rana Rawal Ratan Singh (Shahid Kapoor) was the most accurate portrayal. My only disappointment was him getting a bit lesser screen time.
The story of the movie was fairly accurate (considering previous blunders of the Bollywood).
Deepika’s performance as Padmavati was as expected. She manages to create a strong impact in the minds of the audience. Her looks, clothing and her body language and gracious movements greatly enhanced her performance. I still think, there are many lesser-known actresses who would have nailed this performance even better.

Negatives :

The Disclaimer: The movie shows a disclaimer in the beginning which tells the audience that the movie is based on a medieval poem which is considered fictitious by many historians. I know their intention of putting this disclaimer is to avoid any controversy and hurting sentiments, but that was just pure BS. Ratan Singh was a historical figure, Jauhar was a historical practice, Khilji’s were barbarians, murderers, plunderers, rapists with no ethical or moral values. The poem itself was inspired by historical facts. The movie makers could have and should have said, “The movie is inspired by historical incidences and characters. However, we don’t claim it’s historical authenticity. There may be some historical inaccuracies.”

The dialogues: Persian words started mixing with the North Indian languages during those medieval periods. I am sure, the language used by Rajputs that time was devoid of any Persian or Urdu words. I felt the writers could have used pure (Shuddh) Hindi (though Hindi itself was developed later) for Rajput dialogues and the Persian Hindi for Khiljis.

Over dramatization: Many scenes were overly dramatized and cheesy. This, in turn, made the movie longer than expected.

Alauddin Khilji: My biggest issue with this movie. Many reviewers are praising the performance of Ranveer Singh. If this was any other fictional movie, I would have done the same. But it isn’t. Alauddin was a historical figure. As I said before, he was a barbarian, plunderer, murderer, paedophile, rapist, bisexual with no ethical or moral values. This movie shows parts of his characters in brief. Then, why am I complaining?
Let’s take a detour and examine how Ramsay Bolton was shown in the Game of Thrones series. He was universally hated by the audience. He was barbarian, rapist, plunderer. Now comparing to Alauddin, you can say that Alauddin is a hybrid of Joferry and Ramsay (you will get this reference after watching this movie). The movie, however, fails to develop the character of Alauddin in that fashion. Yes, he has been shown as a coward, a lustful barbarian. However, his character development failed completely and didn’t do any justice to the Alauddin of the 13th century. Ask any audience of GoT, how much they hated Joferry and ask the same to the audience of Padmaavat in the context of Alauddin. Considering that a major portion of the audience is a novice, and virtually ignorant or ill-informed about our pasts, this movie will certainly fail to convince the audience that Alauddin was a barbarian. Although SB tried in this regard, but he failed. The major reason for this is the casting of Ranveer Singh. There is a reason, we have specialist actors for negative roles (Amzad Khan, Amrish Puri, Paresh Rawal, etc.). Considering how much our younger generation (which are mostly ignorant about our history) admires Ranveer, his portrayal may create an impression that Alauddin was a romantic, crazy dude who used to live his life to his fullest. He may become anti-hero in the minds of some. Even I wasn’t hating Ranveer much at any point. This for me is the biggest failure of the movie.

It is worthwhile mentioning that SB made a similar mistake in Bajirao Mastani. His character development of Bajirao was flawed and had many inaccuracies. He was shown as a romantic Devdas like character. The director used his own imagination in that movie, especially in the climax. While imagination leads to creativity, it is not recommended to try too much imagination with historical figures. For example, can you show a movie with a romantic affair of Hitler with a Jewish girl?

Does humanity have A religion?

0

Title of this article sounds strange, isn’t it? We often hear and say ” Humanity is above all religions”, “I am Human and my religion is Humanity”, and so on.

But what if I say, now a days, Humanity has chosen a religion! Our Humanity has become selective! We can see and raise our voice for Rohingyas but we become blind & choose to be silent over the plight of Kashmir Pandits (KPs).

I hope you know who are Rohingyas, about their dreadful condition, their population, their terrorism and everything else. But how much do you know about KP exodus?

No no, I’m not going to narrate you incidents of KP exodus (19 January 1990), that ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri Hindus. How they were expelled from their own homes, women raped, children killed. I’m not going to narrate how even today after 28 long years KPs could not get justice in our “Temple Of Justice”. How even today KPs are living as refugees in their own country.

Our humanity does not move us when the victims are Hindus but we do protests, raise banners and slogans for Rohingya Muslims, for Junaid, for Afrajul, for Akhlaq. We do label such crimes as “Hindutva Terrorism” but when ISIS kills innocent people, beheads kids, rapes women, we don’t choose to or i should say dare to call it “Islamic terrorism”. Why? Because we think religion teaches love, brotherhood, HUMANITY and not hatred. Terrorism has nothing to do with religion. But when Junaid is lynched by a mob we call it Hindutva terrorism, then suddenly we associate crime with religion. All thanks to our overwhelming “Selective Humanity”.

When a Muslim is killed media specifically mentions religion of the dead but do they do the same when the dead is Hindu? Obviously No!

We compassionate Hindus have deep sympathies for Palestinians, but we hesitate in supporting Jews of Israel who always stood by us. This is not because we don’t want to support Israel, this is because earlier (during UPA rule) our foreign policy relating Israel and Palestine was much dependent on internal ‘Vote-bank’ (Indian Muslims). We willingly or unwillingly supported Palestine over Israel, why? Because we were made to believe that Israel is oppressor of ‘poor’, ‘landless’, ‘innocent’ Palestinian Muslims but we are not told about atrocities committed by Muslims on Jews.

When Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited India, Indian Muslims were unhappy and called him “Mass Murderer Of Muslims”. Indian Muslims show their solidarity for Palestinians but they never speak a word in support of Kashmiri Hindus. Why is it so? Just because Palestinians are Muslims we sympathize and support them calling it Humanity. Some us sympathize with Kashmiri separatists who say we want ‘AZADI’ from India and want our Kashmiri pandit brothers back in valley but at the same time raise slogans as “Azadi Ka Matlab Kya, La Ilaha Ill allah”. Our Humanity does not push us to raise our voice for Pakistani and Bangladeshi Hindus, being killed, converted, raped. Hindus in Pakistan and Bangladesh are living in worst conditions, Hindu girls are abducted, converted to Islam and forcefully married to Muslim men. But we remain silent, when do we speak up? When victim is Muslim!

You might be thinking, I’m full of hatred for Muslims, I’m communal minded, or even that I wish for a Hindu Rashtra, I’m from RSS etc etc. But trust me, I don’t blame you! We live in such a society where if I being a Hindu, talk about Muslims, their rights, about the so called “secular fabric of India”, then I’ll be considered a modern, secular, open minded kind of individual. But if being a proud Hindu I talk about Hindus, our rights, our miseries, about how Hindus are treated as second class citizens in a Hindu majority country, how our religious institutions are controlled by state and so on, I become communal minded, Hindu bigot, Sanghi, Bhakt etc.

Who made our society like this? Political party which ruled us for almost 60 years? Left Liberals? Jihadis? Education system? Yes, but who actually made our society like this is WE HINDUS OURSELVES. As it was us who allowed our politicians to take us for granted, it was and us who were and are divided, It is us who are apologetic, it is us who raise banners for AFRAJUL(nothing wrong in that), but not for RUDRESH, not for PARESH MESTA.

You may admit it or not but we have become selective in our approach towards Humanity, Human Rights and peace.

We Hindus our very much responsible for our deplorable condition. Deplorable condition? Like really? Yes, crimes, conversions, Love Jihad, intellectual terrorism do not happen on Mars, all this happens in front of our eyes but we either choose to remain ignorant or fail to identify the wrong at the right time.

What big favor am i asking you for? Just to be aware, to be respectful towards your culture, religion, roots. To be proud of your traditions not just on occasion of festivals but everyday, don’t just post a selfie wearing Saree or Kurta Dhoti on Holi, Diwali saying #FeelingTraditional. To be a proud Hindu, to have Humanity for all and not just for a particular community, to have humanity for humans, animals and nature.

Humanity is not a book, not a religion. Humanity is the base of Hinduism. You are not a true follower of Sanatan Dharma if you don’t have humanity.

So don’t mind saying I am human and my religion is hinduism.

Swara Bhaskar’s vagina rant…….A V’eadache!

0

Dear Swara Bhaskar..

Your open letter about being reduced to a vagina after watching Padmaavat, showed where your individual focus lies when you watched the movie. A period film, a historical depiction, a junior school history chapter is what we saw. The story of the Rani of Chittor is far too well known as a story of a warrior princess who followed the rule of war: “Dushman ke haath zinda nahi aana hai”. She herself was a warrior and fought throughout the story winning all the way through. What about her love for Chittor that she did not let the enemy touch or torture them. What has vagina got to do with love, sacrifice and valour?

As compared to other Sanjay Bhansali films, I personally found Padmaavat less on the emotional quotient. His female protagonists are women who stand for love and die for it too. He is a story teller of his own kind, indulgent but honest to his craft. However, through the movie, I did not see a vagina at all.

Must I see the movie one more time? Have I missed something?

It is sad to meet this pseudo feminism, a claim of social awakening which expresses freedom of thought by criticizing freedom of expression. We are awakened in the midst of a social reality and the opposing dynamic of that affects lives of women everyday.

Who and when has Sati or Jauhar been glorified in the last so many decades?? There are laws against it. As a lawyer, social activist, a thought leadership author for women, I am amazed at how women themselves have no clue what their dignity must be, what their choices give them the freedom to do, what all they can do with that freedom.

We are in changing times.

The laws have not stopped rape, depression, rejection, acid attacks, misogyny, sexual harassment, sexism, casting couches..? Women have to stand up to make smart choices for themselves but they are also in times where they themselves need to understand how to protect their dignity.

No, I am not saying jump into a pyre. I am saying, let women be the master of their choices, the kind that keep their dignity, desires, bodies, lives safe and loved by themselves.

We are awakened to our powers, including that of our vaginas, not in the narrow sense of sex alone…..but in the way that a woman’s creative power can change the way the world sees her.

You are a great actor though.

Republic Day Seating Arrangement Controversy

0

26th Jan 2018: This was the day that marked the beginning of a new chapter in Indo Asean ties. With heads of 10 Asean nations as chief guest, breathtaking performances by army personnel and various cultural shows, it was indeed a spectacular display of our unity in diversity and military powers. But it seems Indian National Congress and specially Rahul Gandhi has vowed to let nation down in front of the world. They always create controversies whenever Prime Minister is out with some respected world leaders.

This time it was with regards to seat assigned to Mr.Rahul Gandhi. As per protocol he was assigned a seat in the 4th row. Which upon his arrival was moved to 6th row. Now the thing I dont understand is whats the reason to create such an issue. Rahul Gandhi is a common man, isn’t he? He himself always tries and convince us people that he is one of us. Then why he wants a seat in the 1st row with VIP’s? Has he achieved something in his career on his own? Or does a common man despite buying tickets for parade allowed to seat in the front row with VIP’s?

Congress party is in the opposition, so that does not mean they oppose each and every stupid little thing. Since Rahul carries a surname Gandhi, that does not mean he must get VIP treatment everywhere. Is it written anywhere in the constitution that a person with Gandhi surname must have all the privileges? When will the congress party understand that in Democracy we the people are King and not the once in Parliament? They will not win elections by creating controversies, instead try and work for people without thinking of earning.

Politics must not be a profession but a social service which the MP’s and MLA’s are elected by the people. Hope congress party understands this little thing and start working for welfare of people and nation rather than One Person or One Family.

Dharma versus bureaucracy

0

India has had a difficult time since independence when it comes to governance. The virtually unlimited expansion of government and bureaucracy to all aspects of life gave the opportunity for corruption to take root in society. As Mises pointed out in his seminal book, Bureaucracy, a government does not produce any wealth on its own. It only extracts revenue from those who produce wealth and tries to allocate it for the good of society. In all cases, free individuals operating in a market always outperforms a centralised entity like a big government.

For thousands of years, India was ruled by dharma-minded kings who ruled their subjects in accordance with Varnashrama Dharma. This system was the product of a historic evolution of Indian society over several millennia. The coherence and stability of society could thus be sustained over such a long period of time. This system was responsible for making India one of the richest lands in the world for over 1700 years as seen in the below picture.

Economic prosperity is important for Hindus

Dharma is based on immense respect for ancient wisdom. From ancient times, India has developed a vast knowledge bank from research not only in the fields of the soul and the mind, but also, living in a society. The product of this research was the development of the idea of purushartha (goal of human life). The four traditional purusharthas include:

  1. dharma (moral virtue)
  2. artha (economic success)
  3. kama (physical love)
  4. moksha (liberation)

Dharma forms the basis of both artha and kama. By pursuing the first three goals, one is able to achieve the credentials required for the final goal of liberation from the cycle of rebirths. Ancient Indians had extensively researched all these four goals of life and come up with a vast ocean of learning. In Sanskrit, the writings on these topics come under the following classifications:

  1. dharmashastra on the science of dharma
  2. arthashastra on the science of economics and economic well-being
  3. kamashastra on the science of physical love
  4. mokshashastra on the philosophy of liberation. The Upanishads, the Brahma Sutra and the Bhagavad Gita, are most famous among this

The purusharthas were designed to organically complement each other. One cannot have artha without dharma. Also, one cannot have dharma without artha. One feature of bureaucracy is that it assumes that the citizens are not competent enough to take care of their own affairs. The basis behind the nanny state, as developed in the West, is that people have to be taken care of by the government from birth to death.

Problems of bureaucracy

In socialism, the bureaucratic systems impose government-provided healthcare and mandatory government schools on the population. Large public works are undertaken, requiring vast number of citizens to be employed. However, in the long run, such systems are not sustainable. As the decades go by, the lack of dharma (moral virtue) & artha (economic motivation) makes people lose interest in maintaining these projects. As a result, most of the giant megalomaniac projects undertaken by socialistic governments tend to decay and die.

On the other hand, the Indian system of purusharthas gives each citizen the responsibility and duty to help each other. Citizens in control of their own destiny undertake charity and large public works following the precept of dharma. This was the case for thousands of years in India. The immense wealth of the Vijayanagara Empire was built based on the dharmic system. Dharma neutralises the need for a nanny state.

Wherever socialism has been tried, the long term effect on citizens has been devastating. In the former Soviet states, the economy spiraled into oblivion because all the wealth-producers were severely restricted, thus preventing the development of artha.

We can consider the case of the European countries such as the UK, Sweden and Germany. In these countries, the nanny state has not been as economically restricting as in the Soviet Union. In such countries, the nanny state has choked the life out of the citizens throughout the twentieth century. Today, there is a spirit of dissatisfaction and hopelessness prevalent.

It is important to distinguish religion from dharma. Religion refers to the abrahamic faiths and dharma refers to the Hindu, Buddhist, etc traditions. In the West, religion has suffered immensely because of the nanny state. Because the nanny state makes all the life decisions for the citizens, the citizens do not see the need to follow any religious moral precepts. Hence, majorities of people in these countries have turned irreligious over the past century. Needless to say, atheism was an official policy of the USSR and the PRC. Now that the Soviet system has fallen, religion has made a huge comeback in both Russia and China. In Western Europe, Islam is growing because of the influence of immigrants and refugees.

Conclusion

One of the main reasons why both dharma and religion remain a force to be reckoned with in India is that our bureaucrats were not as brutally efficient and competent as their European and Soviet counterparts. The corruption of the Indian political-bureaucratic class has been a small silver lining as Indian citizens can now mostly see through the lies of socialist planners. The solution to this mass-scale corruption is to dismantle socialism and bring about a decentralised government in accordance with dharma.

Being Hindu, living in India, in 2018

0

Today was special. I woke up with the sun rays blinding my eyes, and a cozy breeze cocooning me. I was ready to answer my question about being a Hindu, living in India, in 2018.

Throughout the past 60 years or so, being a Hindu was all about being painted with a communal hue. Even now it’s more or less the same, however just a little faded. For centuries we have accepted apartheid, massacre & exile. Exile, not only from land, but from the emotion of being Hindu. The emotional essence tied around being a Hindu has set itself loose. Rather than being a way of life, it has become a way of acceptance. Somewhere in between the chaos that we went through, our collective identity evanescent like an enigma waiting to be rediscovered.

It is because proselytization does not exist in our religion, that we gave refuge to people from diverse ethnicities & religions, and allowed them to actively coexist on our soil without interference. However, this civilised approach of ours was taken advantage of by people as is evident in history. Be it the sparing nature of Hindu Kings towards Muslim Kings, or the ease with which the British entered India to do business. Over and over again, throughout all our history, we have always welcomed and allowed others to cherish the beauty that India is. Yet, even with the most humanitarian approach towards people, we have been labelled communal. It’s the respect we have for other people’s opinions that we have given freeloading rogues ample space to perpetually belittle Hindus under the garb of free speech.

We misconstrued a belief that a sense of societal togetherness is unity. What we did not realise is that this belief would turn us so passive, that we would still tolerate the same cruelty that we went through in all our history. The credit for this passivity I believe, is to our holy books as they’re are meant for seekers & not for people with blinders around their heads.

To prove the point of passivity I made in the above paragraph, let’s rewind to January 1990. January 1990 marked the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits. Over 350,000 people were exiled from their ancestral land. Hindu women had their modesty ravaged, their children brutally slaughtered & men tortured. It’s been 29 years since the tragedy. And yet, a Kashmiri Pandit can only dream of watching the sunset over the horizon with his feet on his ancestral land. It was in 2017 that the Kashmiri Pandits decided to turn the U.N. for help. Let us not overlook the fact that the U.N. has several times failed to act on issues pertaining to the human rights violations committed by Islamists. It’s a saddening fact that Kashmiri Pandits had to turn to an organisation which has been supporting countries that aid separatists in Kashmir.

This colossal failure of human rights in India can be accounted solely to us. Finally, let it sink in that this ethnic cleansing, this genocide, happened in an independent and democratic India.

No one even remembers the names of those charred to death in the Godhra incident. Not a single name. Even today, in Kerala & Karnataka, the hacking of a Hindu in broad daylight holds no widespread protests or candle light marches. If we do not understand and feel the plight of Hindu families who have been destroyed by this hatred today, history will repeat itself. Who is to blame for this? We are! because we have shed our collective identity as Hindus and pulled over a cloak of a quasi-activeness. We have inculcated a hostile behaviour towards any thing that would require for us to rise against this blood curdling hatred directed towards us. What kind democracy is it, where the majority does not stand up for its own people?

Forever forgotten & shoved into an abyss of darkness. That is the plight of every Hindu family murdered only because they were Hindu.

Ultimately, as Hindus, we have repeatedly failed our own people.

The onus of bringing back the emotion attached with being Hindu lies entirely with us. Is it necessary that we let these important issues culminate to a point where we might be subjected to the atrocities we have already been through? We need to introspect before it is too late.

If you look at every other religion, they manifest consciously. But Hinduism manifests subconsciously. This subconscious has turned to coal, of which the embers we have to light. A reawakening of this subconscious into daily life will be the beginning, that of a soul—pious and harmonious.

The agenda for today shouldn’t be to instil a nationalist emotion, but a much more sacred, religious emotion.

Let us learn to question Judges

0

Diwali 2017 and Supreme Court passed a dictate against Diwali. Let us in short analyze the meaning of environmental concerns in secular corridors!

Environment > Hindu festivals

Muslim festivals > Environment (courts have refused to intervene)

Muslim festival > Environment > Hindu festivals.

In our society the term corrupt generally covers police officers, PWD and other administrative departments. People from traffic signals to their specific grievances face these officials. But according to me, police department is the most hard working force of nation as far as civil administration is concerned. From security of politicians to security to security of common masses especially during festival times performed by police with full dedication and tireless efforts. Many see shows like Crime Patrol which shows efforts of police in solving cases.

I have hardly seen people who blames Judiciary for corruption except on the occasion of Salmaan Khan verdict. I am not justifying the corruption in executive class but I am pointing out the fact that corruption of judiciary goes unquestioned.

Recent Judgement on Fire Crackers

According to our democratic setup we can question/abuse politicians even Prime Minister is not spared but the Judges of Higher judiciary cannot be questioned! They are acting as feudal Lords in Democracy and we must also observe that it took 22 years for our full legal system to convict Yakub Memon who was one of the conspirators on Mumbai Bomb Blast 1993.

Judiciary is so slow even in terrorist cases which shows lack of professionalism and no concern for innocent victims.

Supreme Court wants to interpret Muslim civil laws in light of Quran but will pass judgements on Dahi Handi or any other Hindu festival without thinking.

The argument put forth by liberal secular jokers- There was no crackers at the time of Lord Ram.

Even loudspeaker was not present during times of Muhammad. Even Muslims were not present when Lord Ram was King! All environmentalists now will sleep on various problems of over-fishing, damage of ozone layer by Air Conditioners etc. They will again wake up at Holi to preach about water wastage and colors. Well I prefer natural colors during Holi and advise others to do same.

Even in the Triple Talaq case Justice JS Khehar wanted interpretation in light of Quran. He wanted practice to continue. Somehow Muslim women won by 3:2!

The case of Kashmiri Pandits

There are no minority affirmative laws in state of Jammu and Kashmir. In fact there is a petition saying Hindus are minorities in 8 states of India. Many Kashmiri Pandits were killed, raped and forced to flee leaving their property behind in Kashmir in 1989-90.

Supreme Court refused to hear voice of Kashmiri Pandit victims. Still under Modi Govt Kashmiri Pandits who were forced to leave their homes are struggling for status of Internally Displaced Migrants.

We have already seen Kairana incident of Uttar Pradesh where at last even National Human Rights Commission admitted that Hindus were threatened by Islamic majority and many were forced to leave their shops and homes. It was not a migration is search of jobs because many sold their shops at much lower price than what they would get in normal circumstances of law and order. Many victims of Kairana pleaded to new CM of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath. Somehow I came to know informally that they are getting positive response but I am not 100% sure about this fact.

I am not an anarchist and I am not against instrument. But our Judiciary is suffering from Uncle Judge Syndrome we have problems of rampant nepotism in our Judiciary. We love to talk about nepotism, dynastic succession of political parties but most people ignore such things happening in Bollywood and even in Judiciary. We have many dance competition reality shows we see many good dancers but at last same old bad dancing actors earn money on songs.

The word activism gives ignoring sense in our mind. Judiciary love to poke their nose on what should be the discretionary power of Lok Sabha speaker or Constitutional validity of any law. They struck down NJAC which challenged idea of Judges selecting Judges in Collegium system.

Promulgation of ordinance and many other things judiciary is involved in all nonsense kinds of activism. They are not bothered about backlog of huge number of cases. Crying on less number of judges is wrong because there are many quasi-judicial bodies we also have Consumer Commissions which are sharing burden of civil courts. Many sectors o Government have numerous vacant seats but its the Judiciary who cries most.

I appreciate some judges who are quick in delivering justice but remember case of Nirbhaya which ignited wave of fighting against women harassment failed for speedy trials in numerous rape cases! Courts fail to deliver justice on cases where investigation has been completed by police/CBI and charge-sheet lies before them!

In my view the procedure of impeachment is too difficult to execute. Only Soumitra Sen was forced to leave his office by the this process. There must be a commission to investigate charges against Judges of Higher Judiciary. Punish the person without punishing the office.

Kashmiri Hindus who faced serious human rights violations still waiting for trials- Azaan from mosques is still nightmare for them!
