Can medicine be Western in origin?

0

Christianity turns out to be the only great world religion — great in the sense of widespread and influential — that had no teaching or interest in hygiene. In the early years of the church, the holier you were, the less you wanted to be clean. Cleanliness was kind of a luxury, like food, drink and sex, because cleanliness was comfortable and attractive. The holier you were — and this really applied to monks and hermits and saints — the less you would wash. And the more you smelled, the closer to God people thought you were.

“What is causing this hideous plague that is killing one out of every three Europeans, and what can we do to prevent it?” And the doctor said the people who were at risk for getting the plague had opened their pores in warm or hot water, in the baths, and they were much more susceptible. (Mieszkowski 2007)

What are the basic essentials of life?

  1. Breathing (air)
  2. Drinking (water)
  3. Eating (food)
  4. Excreting (waste from the body)

Common sense would dictate that an advanced civilisation should be completely adept and excel in such basic necessities of life. (Dharampal 1971, 1983) Let us see how the Christian West and modernity fair in each of these cases but to end pleasantly and in a good note, let us begin with the most stinking item, and often a matter of urgency, as the first for consideration in this short article.

Queasy stinker! Will you, say after eating on a plate, just wipe it “clean” and then reuse the same plate for eating without at least washing it with water, if not as well with soap? Nobody in the right sense of mind will do it, not just you. Even the lazy-kind amongst us, who ignore to wash their hands before a meal, absolutely would not delight in such an endeavour. Even if such a treatment is imposed on criminals on the death sentence in a jail, it would be considered a human rights violation scam.

Yet, every single time a Westerner or a Westernised “intellectual” (sepoy) goes to the toilet and passes stools, and after that, they just wipe themselves off. That too not with wet wipes. Dry paper. Incidentally, it is masochistic (for those who love a good burning sensation up there) as well. With a modicum of knowledge of our own skin elsewhere, we know it is no smooth affair with the natural grooves (both visible, semi-microscopic and microscopic) on the skin. Down there, it is a perfect recipe for a nauseating disaster. Let alone basic hygiene…

Forget that, most animals only wipe themselves off (let us not mention cleaning by licking here; not everybody will have the tolerance of a medical student!); so it is not after all that bad. Let human social animals be animals will be the defence of the sycophants of the West and our “intellectual” elites. This author would be called a Sanghi for wanting to prevent the heart burns that will arise out of a-hole burns.

Next, what about the anatomically healthy position to pooh-pooh? The Indians squat on an Indian toilet and that my friend is the only healthy way to do it. Nothing else. To sit and pooh, as in a Western commode, is akin to blocking the hole and blowing with the force of the exhaust of a jet engine. In the long run, it leads to all sorts of gut diseases and ill-health (constipation, piles, prolapse… please Google for images and you would not use a Western toilet again). Mate, it ain’t no nose to blow the way you like!

Of course, we all know the well-known criticisms about the toilet seat sat on by many many different people, all their skins touching it lovingly and its dermatological consequences. But who bothers. It is so cool to “ape” the West and let one’s bottom to stink like a country English pub’s toilet or burst like rock n’ roll. In fact, use of the word “aping” is an insult to the apes as it appears animals are not that stupid: they know how to excrete and keep themselves clean.

We cannot handle the stench anymore… so let us move on to a better (topic) area.

What is water? If we, for a moment, remove our sycophancy soaked (not just tinted) Western glasses and probe into the history of our erstwhile colonial masters, we will see that they paid their labour in barrels of beer. One of the reasons was that the water available in England (rest of Europe too was no exception) was unreliable and the risk of diseases such as Cholera was so high that they drank only beer. All the water needs for the body’s metabolism was met from beer and whatever was possibly available from potatoes and steak. Perhaps the beer was so strong that it kept all the noses knocked off that they could not smell the others who would have also not bathed for months, if not years, as water was not available and even if available they were too poor to warm it. In fact, till the smelly Westerners colonised India and destroyed its native sciences and industries (100 years after industrial revolution), they were the beggars of the globe. The entire West constituted less than three per cent of the global GDP, almost as late as the start of the 1800s. (Maddison 2001)

Here is an interesting quote from MEDIEVALISTS.NET: “Medieval writers saw bathing as a serious and careful activity. One medical treatise, the Secreta Secretorum, has an entire section on baths. It notes that the spring and winter are good times for bathing, but it should be avoided as much as possible in the summer. It also warns that excessively long baths lead to fatness and feebleness.” (Medievalists.net 2013)

Next, less said the better. Otherwise, PETA will sue the author for promoting animal cruelty. It is wrong to hold the hump of a “pet” bull and play with it, but it is fine for any number of cows to be slaughtered for one’s own taste buds. It is freedom to eat what one wants, even if that means 100s of families will go without water: each kilogram of beef costs 3500 litres of water and all a person needs according to World Health Organisation (WHO) is 7.5 to 15 litres per day as bare minimum and 20 litres per day as a comfortable minimum. Yes, the “intellectuals” freedom of palate is more precious than life-saving water to the poor.

With almost all chronic diseases, like heart conditions, diabetes, cancer, etc. linked strongly to meat eating, especially to red meats such as beef (Group 2A carcinogen according to WHO), it is still cool to eat “red.” Lest one cannot make holy cow jokes in Club West, can we?

Forgot to breathe, properly. Yes, one has to qualify it with the word “properly,” otherwise “forgot to breathe” might mean dead. But does it matter, actually? Most “intellectual” fans of the West are walking brain dead anyway, aren’t they? It is a matter of fact that many people would have heard in many fancy personality development and other such fashionable workshops, and “sexy” yoga sessions, that we do not breathe properly as we have forgotten the proper technique in the breathtaking “advanced” modern times. Many people even breathe in while their tummies go in. How removed are we from being properly alive, let alone living naturally healthy? So they have to be taught “breathing exercises.” Well, it is the phrase for those that cannot pronounce pranayama. There are too many a-s in the word and it is a party-trick tongue-twister for our champagne drunk “intellectuals.” Moreover, why bother with a lowly word from a Hindu language called Sanskrit, while you can savour Alsatian whites with Scottish oysters at the Alliance Français and eulogise about the Germans’ work on Vedas at the Max Mueller Bhavan.

To summarise, a (non-)civilisation that is so superior and advanced that it has no need to remember how to excrete, drink, eat and breathe and thus is “aptly” considered the mother of medicine. Hail (the) West!

And, the Hindu civilisation is regressive, superstitious and unscientific… above all, intolerant, especially to the “universal” scientific standards of the hygienic West. Ahem.

JNU like protests at TISS in Mumbai – how political propaganda works on campuses

0

Student Union of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) declared a complete boycott of classes and all academic activities on 21st Feb 2018 saying that TISS Administration has stopped the funding for students of marginalized sections. They also said that Government of India- Post Matric Scholarships has been stopped and so we should protest.

They blocked the main gate of the Main Campus which is on Mumbai-Pune highway in Chembur. With that, all other campuses of TISS also followed as I came to know about it. In the Mumbai campus, as the main gate was blocked and all people were asked to come from the back gate which is more than half a kilometer from there. I supported this strike when I first heard about it but at that time I was unaware of the details as to what followed what. That day we had an exam and some classes all of which were canceled. Initially, I thought that as it’s a college where anyone’s choice to not take part in the protest and continue his or her classes/exams will be respected. But that did not happen and I know one of the students who was not allowed to attend a class he wanted to attend. This is one such incident.

Another incident was that one of the lady staff member who is visually impaired was not allowed to enter the campus from the main gate and was asked to go from the back gate. This seemed so disgusting to me that I decided to write this article. In one other incident on the second day.

Our warden was coming back to the campus with her daughter who is appearing/preparing for her class 12th Board Exams. They were stopped at the gate and were asked to go from the back gate. When warden’s daughter protested that she is not any staff member so she should not be stopped. Warden Ma’am also had a heated discussion with the people protesting. After that, they said that her daughter can go from the gate but her Mother (warden) has to go from the back gate. And warden’s residence was just near the main gate of the campus. To this warden’s daughter started crying and told them that how can they do this that her mother has to go from the back gate of the campus and she can go from the main gate that to their own home residence. I was standing there with one of my friends (we were actually leaving for our rooms but when we saw warden we stopped to see what is happening). My friend had a bike, so we requested ma’am that we can drop her on bike and her daughter went from the main gate. This just made me angrier and gave me even more than a reason to write this article.

I know as a fact that most of the State Govts. under GoI-PMS transfer their the fund directly to the account of the students who apply in their respective states. Earlier the funds used to come to the account of the institution. So, now institute has made a policy that, the student should deposit the fees first and with the fee statement apply for the scholarship so that he or she will get the money reimbursed that he or she has paid. Even institute has extended the date for submission for the fee for such GoI PMS eligible students at the time when I took admission. But, now the students are claiming that the scholarship has been stopped which in any sense is not true.

Now, another angle here is that GoI PMS is only for SC, ST and OBC students with some income criteria applicable to them for availing the scholarship. So, here what actually the protestors are trying to do is that polarize the students on the caste lines. One of the person I know who is pursuing his M.Phil told me that although he does not support this strike as he knew the real facts, but his friends persuaded him for joining the strike by saying that “tum backward class ke ho, tumhe sharm aani chahiye ki tum hamara support nahi kar rahe ho”.

Somehow he came under peer pressure. So, the caste lines, which are the biggest fault lines in our country is being exploited in the most despicable ways. Student Union has not done anything which can be called remarkable since they got elected but its interesting to note that they are showing their full support and strength in this issue particularly when its going to be dissolved in few days as academic year is going to end soon. And when that’s the case, what’s the best thing other than caste equations to exploit.

Now on the third day i.e. 23rd Feb 2018, some faculty also came to support the students and they even tried to re-invigorate the energy for strike which somehow was at its dampening position. And today a great “secular” person who earlier used to advise “Ford Foundation” tweeted in support of the TISS strike. On the second day JNUSU and Hyderabad University Students Union also sent their support statement for this strike. On the first day some so called “leading newspaper” covered this news and till second day, the news was covered by almost all national dailies as well as an infamous news channel based in Delhi. All these things happened in just 3 days, and if I connect the dots, I find that it was never spontaneous and all the checkpoints are part of a big ecosystem which works in India day and night, but no one correctly knows who pays them.

TISS posters TISS postersEarlier I was not sure, but as I saw these posters, everything in my mind added up to form the correct pattern which essentially tells me that this protest is big sham and is totally politically motivated and no one is interested to solve the problems of the students who really need the scholarships.

Narendra Modi and the enemy within

0

Decades of rule have advantages. Sycophants inundate the political sphere. Faithfuls gradually find place in the bureaucracy. Government offices, police, investigative agencies, educational institutions, to name a few, brim with people having links with the ruling dispensation. Why, even the so-called independent institutions like the Election Commission, Central Investigative Agencies, Vigilance Commission, Reserve Bank are not immune to the ingress of appointees with political links?

A vital pillar of a democracy, the Judiciary, is not entirely independent as would be desired. Political masons have surreptitiously constructed the edifice of the top court using a few flawed bricks that weaken it and makes it vulnerable to political interference.

A loyal eco system exists, it festers, and it has the capacity to diabolically rear it’s head- when required- to side with the political masters who were instrumental in giving them power, position and privileges which they cherish. Recent events stand witness to the fact that the rot in the system is being leveraged to wage a covert war against Modi’s government.

Corruption is a malaise that has always had a cancer like grip on the nation, and for decades successive governments have done nothing significant nor substantive to combat the scourge. It continues to thrive because the inheritors of the largesse of past government who populate the administration are habituated to ‘commission’ and ‘percentage’ and are stubbornly opposed to a life of probity.

Demonetisation, a masterstroke and a brave initiative to unveil the black parallel economy did not achieve the desired target simply because the hoarders invoked the ‘IOU’s’ of the enforcers and bankers to clandestinely convert their ill-gotten wealth. It’s no secret, the entire nation knows that black money is rampant, but a major chunk of the money escaped the DeMo dragnet because the corrupt in the administration ensured that nothing significant emerged.

Modi’s tenure was greeted by the ‘Award vapasi’ episode which was an organised protest by intellectuals loyal to Congress with a core intention to portray Modi’s saffron led dispensation as divisive and intolerant. The sole purpose was to spread a psychosis of fear that the secular fabric of the nation was under threat.

More recently , when four judges of the Supreme court raised the banner of revolt , were they doing it at the behest of their conscience or was there an agenda unbeknown to a common eye? Did D.Raja let the cat out of the bag putting to rest doubts about the true motive behind the crisis? Or is there a connection between the Judge mutiny and Kapil Sibal’s plea to postpone ‘Ram Janma Bhoomi’ trial?

Is the incompetence inherent or is it by design that the investigative agencies  fail to perform their duties? A string of failures to bring to book criminals and defaulters by CBI has exposed the shortcomings of the premier agency. It can be said with conviction that the agency doesn’t lack the competence, it lacks the will to act because the vestiges of the past Government that  occupy every tier of the agency refuse to act against their benefactors.

How ironic, nobody questions the govt of the day when Dawood Ibrahim flees after bombing Mumbai. Just a whimper of protest when Warren Anderson was allowed to leave India despite the genocide in Bhopal. But, when people like Mallya and Nirav Modi flee, all hell breaks loose. Double meaning hashtags like ‘ModiLootsIndia’ are circulated and the brazenness with which the entire blame is shifted on Modi is appalling. Fact of the matter is that nobody bothers to check the antecedents of the glaring loopholes in the banking system, nobody bothers to explain that this is a legacy issue exploited by people like Nirav & Mallya and not an overnight con-job. None bother to point a finger at the earlier government which is equally culpability and complicit- if not more.

‘Babudom’ is a heritage that Modi has inherited. His dream of minimum government- maximum governance can be achieved only if there is minimum interference and maximum productivity by the ‘Babu’s’. But with the days of maximum corruption minimising, the Babu’s can be expected to maximize their ulterior activities to derail Modi’s vision for a ‘New-corruption free-India’.

Bottom-line: You win some and lose some in electoral battles, but when the enemy is within and invisible the battle is lost before it begins. 2019 victory depends on how best Modi exorcises the ghosts that pervade the system.

Railways on cusp of strategic and operational transformation

0

Indian Railways is El Dorado for number nerds and trivia experts. As of 31st March 2017 it had largest track network in world at 67,368 kms; 11,461 locomotives doing hauling duty; 64,223 passenger service vehicles ferrying people; 2,77,9987 wagons lugging freight; 7,349 stations across the country and 1,308,000 employees. Railways carried almost 8.1 billion passengers during 2016-17.

These numbers are staggering and give us sense of challenge an administration faces while managing this mammoth organization. This gets amplified several times if one is looking to transform Railways both Strategically and Operationally while ensuring that everything runs as smooth as possible. With Piyush Goyal at helm, Railways are trying to achieve exactly that.

We are at cusp of transformation of Indian Railways. Over last few months number of extremely Significant Strategic Plans and Operational Initiatives have been announced and are being implemented that shall change Railways forever. One can write reams on these plans and initiatives but let me present the key ones.

Operational Excellence

Indian Railways present perhaps largest logistics operations challenge in the world. In such a scenario, simplification and use of enabling technologies have tremendous advantages to offer.

Trains Run Faster During Fog

Fog season from December to January is notorious for cancellations, delays, and passenger inconvenience. But this Fog of Disruptions during winters is lifting with Railways adopting Fog Safety Devices on its trains. Use of these devices enables Loco Pilots to run at 75 kmph, up from present 60 kmph, during inclement weather.

Fog Safety Devices are GPS enabled and alert pilots about approaching signals. Without devices, pilots literally run their trains at snails’ pace to see the signals. Northern Railway, that is worst affected during Winter Fog Season, has 800 such devices in use. Besides making train operations significantly safer during inclement weather, use of Fog Safety Devices cuts train delays, reduces cancellations, improves passenger convenience, and decreases employee stress during critical situations.

Trains with 22 Coaches to Run on Any Route

Indian Trains have either ICF or LHB coaches and are anywhere between 12 to 26 coaches long. Varying length of trains makes it impossible for Railways to substitute rakes, address delays, ensure quick turnarounds, and provide for ease of operations. And this has been so for decades.

In pursuit of Simplification of Operations, Railways are planning to standardize length of rakes. All trains in Railways shall have 22 coaches. Benefits of such standardization are manifold – trains shall be able to run on any route, delays shall be minimized as available trains shall be pressed into service, trains shall have quick turnaround owing to standardization of maintenance crews and equipment among others.

As part of First Phase of Implementation, Railways have identified 300 groups of trains and routes. Of course such standardization demands that platforms be of certain minimum length, washing lines be adequately long and filling lines be of appropriate length.

Strategic Transformation

Railways have been in stupor for decades with trains running at almost same speeds as they ran 40 years ago, and archaic signaling that is mix of manual, semi-automatic or automatic in patches. Railways need Transformation to keep pace with Rapidly Changing India.

Semi High Speed Trains on Horizon

National Highway Development Program changed face of surface transport in India forever. Highways became four lane or six lane, travel speeds increased, and change continues today with Expressways coming up all across country. Similar Transformation awaits Indian Railways.

Speeds of Indian trains have been relatively stagnant for last three decades. Gatiman Express is fastest train in India at 160 KMPH, Shatabdi and Rajdhani Express Trains run at average speeds in range of 80 KMPH and so termed Superfast Trains travel at average speeds in range of 70 KMPH.

Railways are on verge of announcing Semi High Speed Network connecting major cities of India. This network shall be over 10,000 KM long and enable trains to run at 200-250 KMPH. It shall require rolling stock upgradation, large scale track renewal, modern signaling and employee re-skilling; in effect change face of Railways in India for ever. No doubt, the Semi High Speed Network shall entail significant investment but benefits shall be manifold. It shall serve as boost for whole economy, and favorably impact productivity across spectrum. Higher speeds shall significantly cut travel times especially for overnight journeys and passengers shall get ample time for their official work and families alike.

Modern Signaling for Safer Rail Travel

Railways are beset with legacy signaling system, compromising safety. If Railways have to go to next level, modernization of Signaling System is imperative.

Union minister Piyush Goyal has laid out comprehensive plan to completely overhaul signaling system of Railways. To be implemented over a period of six years, Railways shall adopt signaling system on lines of European Train Control System (ETCS). It shall be most modern in world, and cover entire 67,368 route kms.

Advantages of such system are many including Safer Travel, Speedier Trains, and Lesser Crime. Since scale of the system shall be unprecedented, lakhs of jobs shall be created and economies of scale shall mean we may also be in position to export technologies developed.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks of Indian Railways as being Life Line of India. Transform this Life Line and You Transform India. Time to Transform is now.

Branson will build the first hyperloop corridor in India: reports

0

According to Virgin Brand founder Richard Branson, “I believe that Virgin Hyperloop One will affect the 21st century India as it did in the 20th century.” Under the National Hyperloop network, Pune-Mumbai Route is the most preferred destination for the first corridor. In the statement, Branson also said that the travel time between all major cities of India would be changed in two hours via hyperloop.

With the intention of setting up a hyperloop network at Pune-Mumbai Route, Branson has also tied up with the Maharashtra government. After the initial agreement, deep research will be done on the loss of the benefits of the project. Pune is about 150 km away from Mumbai. Currently, it takes about three hours to travel from Mumbai to Pune via train. Branson claims that the Hyperloop will make it a 25-minute journey.

According to Virgin Group, HyperLoop connects central Pune with Navi Mumbai International Airport and Mumbai City. According to the company, 150 million people travel annually on this route The company has also estimated the cost of the Hyperloop Corridor.

In 2013, Tesla’s chief Ellon Musk introduced the idea of fast travel by creating a vacuum in a tunnel. Later, their ideas were worn by others by others. In America, a company named Hyperloop One has also become. In October 2017, Virgin signed a contract with Hyperloop One and decided to move on to the full system hyperloop.

Virgin Hyperloop Forest thinks that this technique can be used as fast as the airplane on the ground. Under this technique, there is a capsule in a tunnel tube. Passengers will sit in this capsule. Using the magnetic force between the very low-pressure air, the capsule will rise above the track. After the low aerodynamic drag, the capsules will catch the speed of 1,125 kilometers per hour while sliding in the air.

Judicial and political discourse in India and the facts

0

Ramchandra Guha famously called the success of first general elections of 1952 as the “success of the BIGGEST GAMBLE IN HISTORY”. Going further, Pratap Bhanu Mehta (perhaps finest Indian intellectual) wrote, “Since every passing decade India is getting stronger and it’s because of the “INSTITUTIONS OF INDIAN STATE”. The continuous success and rising people’s belief in judiciary together with political system led to the success of Indian Constitution and hence the Indian state. Their is no doubt that no nation on this planet is as diverse as India and despite this diversity, we are united and one of the growing world powers.

Political and judicial discourse in this country has many sides in India. As Eugene Ehrlich, founder of European sociology of law, said, “We need not only to give justice to common people, but look to give justice to the common people”, be it political or Judicial. There is no doubt that there are problems in the system but we have to live with it. For example, the limit of expenditure in Lok Sabha election is between 25-40 lakh according to the Election Commission of India. But we all know how much politicians invest in elections. Is it in reach of common people of India as per-capita Income of India is ₹ 1,20,000 yearly?

During old time people used to maintain highest standard in public life. If we come to judiciary, Article 32 of the Constitution of India empowers citizens to approach Supreme Court directly if their Fundamental Rights are violated. But we must honestly ask ourselves how many people from remote interiors can approach the courts if there Fundamental Rights are violated? The truth is that poor don’t even know about this, forget of approaching the courts. Indian Judiciary Annual Report 2016 says that 2.81 crore cases are pending in various district courts of India. Isn’t it alarming for us, for the people who see Judiciary as the last hope? The truth is Judiciary’s role is more important because it’s responsibility is to clean the political system, too.

National Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms data 2017 says that out of 4,896 MPs and MLAs 1,581 (33 percent) have criminal cases against them and it is taking too long to conclude the cases. The perception of public is, as a film पान सिंह तोमर points out “बिहर में तो बाग़ी होते है, डकैत तो पार्लियामेंट में बैठते है”. It’s the responsibility of both the institutions to collectively clear the mess and strengthen the belief of “WE THE PEOPLE” for our system. Its also pertinent as Grenville Austin a leading expert of Indian Constitution said, “It’s growing democracy not developed democracy like USA”.

However, in 70 years what we’ve achieved is indeed big. We could be proud of the fact that despite USA getting democracy/constitution in 1773 is not able to end racism as more than 70 percent people in jail are black but we Indians are able to walk many miles since 1950 to practically fulfill what our Constitution makers wanted us to and our Preamble says.

Threat of illegal Bangladeshis to India’s national security and political stability

0

After the recent statement by Army Chief Bipin Rawat about illegal Bangladeshi immigration that poses a National Security threat to India, the Liberal Media (to the surprise of no one) has found its latest issue to outrage. The army chief has received flakes for making the issue political and even communalizing the issue of illegal immigration. Conveniently, the facts and data have been put aside by the left-liberal brigade for a chance to malign Indian Army and to ridicule its legitimate concerns towards National Security.

Looking at political realities, it becomes quite clear that the Army Chief’s concern over the influx of illegal Bangladeshis holds water. Although, it’s hard to come up with a number due to lack of demographic studies, one credible estimate posits that as many as 50 Bangladeshis are crossing the border illegally every day. A slew of arrests made by Intelligence Agencies in 2017 of Bangladeshi immigrants in connection with a terror plot in conjunction with ISI as well as arrests of Bangladeshis in connection with Burdwan blasts are proof that the General’s concerns are not unfounded.

Historically, the first great influx of illegal immigration from Bangladesh started during the freedom struggle of East Pakistan resulting from the systematic oppression of Hindus living in erstwhile East-Pakistan by the Pakistani authorities. By the end of the war of 1971, the number of East-Bengali immigrant had reached to 10 million by some estimates. However, even after the independence of Bangladesh the influx did not stop and continued unabated. Most of the early influx was concentrated in West-Bengal. By mid 1970s other Indian states sharing border with Bangladesh had also become hot-zones for these illegals.

The situation had become so dire that a movement against immigration was started in Assam which came to be known as Assam agitation. In some places, it even turned violent. The agitation was led by All Assam Students Union and All Assam Gana Sangram Parishad (later, the leaders formed the political party ‘Assam Gana Parishad’ which came to power in 1985). The movement resulted in the signing of Assam Accords in 1985 under which the Union Government promised to identify and deport illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. However, the leaders of the movement have repeatedly blamed the Central Government to not upholding its promise and not implementing the accords in letter and spirit.

In the run-up to the general elections of 2014, Prime Minister Modi had taken a tough stand against the threat of Bangladeshi illegals and had promised to implement policies to deter the influx. The Land-swap agreement with Bangladesh was seen by many as an attempt by Modi government to fortify India’s borders in order to stop the influx. However, West-Bengal government’s minority appeasement policies have resulted in the illegals becoming a concentrated voter-base.

In fact, Ms Banerjee had repeatedly asserted her commitment to grant citizenship to the illegals. The demographic changes brought out by the illegals have altered the political dynamic of many districts in West-Bengal resulting in even more policies being implemented by the Trinmul government to appease this voter base at the cost of interests of other communities. In contrast, keeping up with their promise of tough stand against illegal immigration, the BJP government of Assam had begun the process of identifying and deporting the illegal immigrants through National Registry of Citizens that came out in December 2017.

The illegal Bangladeshi immigration not only changes the delicate demography of border areas but also puts a huge restrain on the already-stretched welfare budgets of the North-Eastern States. As has been seen in West-Bengal, these illegals can form a formidable voter base resulting in political parties pandering to their demands to the detriment of natives. Additionally, as has been pointed out by the Army Chief, since the majority of these immigrants are from Bangladesh which has seen the emergence of fundamental Islamist movement in recent years, the prospects for radicalization of these youths cannot be ruled out.

By raising concern of a threat against nation, the Army Chief has done his job. It is now up to policy-makers to take steps to address this problem before North-East becomes another West-Bengal.

Supreme Court removed Nawaz Sharif from party president’s post

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif may not be the leader of the political party. He was removed from the prime minister six months back after he was accused of corruption.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan says that a person disqualified cannot be the head of any political party. Nawaz Sharif’s party, Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) had made a change in the law after which Nawaz Sharif could remain the head of the political party even after being disqualified for public posts. The order of the Supreme Court has now made the law unnecessary.

Nawaz Sharif is the only leader of Pakistan who has held the record three times as the Prime Minister. For the first time he was a PM from November 1990 to July 1993. The second time he took office in February 1997 and became Prime Minister till the coup in 1999. After winning the general elections in 2013, he got the prime minister’s post.

For the first time, Nawaz Sharif was recognized nationally as a statesman in the initial round of military ruler General Zia ul Haq. He was Chief Minister of Punjab province from 1985 to 1990. Earlier in the provincial government, he took charge of the finance minister.

After the death of Zia-ul-Haq in 1988, his party was divided into two factions of the Pakistan Muslim League (Pagara faction). A faction led by Prime Minister Mohammed Khan Junjo was then in the hands of Jia’s supporters Nawaz Sharif.

The Supreme Court has canceled the ticket of all the candidates elected by Nawaz Sharif for the Senate election. The Supreme Court has said in its order that its verdict should be deemed effective from July 28, 2017. This was the day when Nawaz Sharif was disqualified for the post of Prime Minister and he had to leave the post.

In the Supreme Court, Judge Shakib Nisar passed the order immediately after hearing the 17 petitions challenging the changes made in the law. The bench of three judges heard the case.

Faisal Chaudhary, counsel for one of the 17 petitions, said, “I think the candidates can still contest but not as an independent candidate, but as a party candidate for Nawaz Sharif.” Nawaz Sharif had said that he was removed from the post as a political conspiracy. He and his party have launched a lot of fight against the judiciary in recent times.

PML N is in the majority in the National Assembly and after the March 3 election, it was expected to get a majority in the Senate. After the majority in both the Houses, after changing the law for Sharif’s party, after the election this year, the way of making Prime Minister again becomes clear.

Nawaz Sharif had been prime minister twice before, but both times he was removed from the post in the middle of the term. The Supreme Court has stayed the elections for the Senate on March 3. The Supreme Court has termed all decisions taken after Nawaz Sharif’s re-election as party chief was declared invalid. Supreme Court Chief Justice Shakib Nisar has ordered, “The EC is directed to remove the name of Nawaz Sharif from all documents as the head of PMLN.”

Congress favoured media, election mode “ON”

The hustle for Seven (7) Race Course has just begun between BJP and INC, from cultivating strategy to scuffle through press conferences and theatricals in parliament. Antecedent regime lead by INC seems to be behindhand with disorganized approach and addled blueprint. In such tenacious situation it looks as if their outsourcing partners have shared the burden to keep them in race. INC favouring array of media people and journalist who wrangled against NDA in absence of opposition in past 3.5 years. Task that was outsourced to them by feeble and uncaring INC, possibly due to lack of experience as opposition. A series of campaign has suddenly set to appear in all sort of platform (Print, Online, and Television News Channel) to create adverse ambiance for ruling government and abet INC for Lok Sabha Election 2019.

A collection of news article being circulated, pertaining to “Hung Assembly”. Favouring media is performing their obligation by psychologically communicating misconception to audience that Narendra Modi might be losing appeal and securing win in 2019 will be stiff. And few have propagated the probability of Rahul Gandhi being the next Prime Minister if BJP remains limited to 200 seats, miserably their flight of fancy would not take off.

Another reprehensible attempt was through projecting Mohan Bhagwat address as contempt to dishonour our armed forces. But society observantly didn’t purchase the broadcast, as genuine video of his speech started appearing immediately on social media. And certain news agency took effort in turning the headlines from demeaning him to taking the truth forward, while antagonistically this section of media decided to pause the discussion as they won’t be benefitted. But earlier such attempts directed on Manohar Parrikar and Satyapal Singh have given them positive offshoot where people decided to troll both leaders without hearing the complete original narration.

Coming down to my favourite, RaGa 2.0 and now Congress 2.0. Delusion and illusion have captured this particular section of media that they have decided to abandon the truth and reside merrily under reverie. And this particular section of media is on assignment to make nation believe so. Rather nonce fact is that identity crisis is confronting INC but this segment in busy as a beaver to carve resurrection image in mind of public.

Further substantial testimony could also be gathered from their exercise of decoding 2018 budget from pro-poor to painting it anti-middle class (massive support base of BJP in urban area). Instead of identifying the hindrance and steps to overcome in implementing “ModiCare” which has associated valuable benefits, to pronouncing it flop because previous government were unsuccessful and if it get right INC will have to wait for decade. And many such campaign in race to be the best outsourcing partner of INC is evident by their chauvinistic approach to influence the voters. And unfortunate part of the story is that they blame BJP for polarisation whereas this section of media are already polarised intellectually and continuously trying to extend their version of story to citizens.
