Open letter to the honorable Prime Minister of India

Respected Prime Minister,

As I write this long letter, I am fully aware that you may never ever even look at this. However, a sense of deep anguish has been surrounding a lot of NRIs at the moment. As an ardent admirer of Sushant Singh Rajput I had a monumental urge to get in touch with you.

I am a millennial who migrated over to England in 2004 (along with my parents) so most of my teens and formative years have been spent away from India, hence unfortunately I am unfamiliar with the Indian judicial system.

Everything was fine in the lockdown, until we heard about Sushant Singh Rajput’s unfortunate demise on the 14th June 2020. There were speculations form day 1 about it being a suicide and no FIR was registered for a long time. It was due to the public movement and social media movement that the case got transferred to the CBI.

Since I can not go on any social media platform I was feeling a little bit frustrated so thought of following SSR and writing my heart out! It is funny how I was discussing this with my father and he said– one of the reasons to move away from India was that he saw how nothing ever happens to the mighty and powerful, whilst a normal man is destined to be maimed by the system. I replied to my dad – “this is new India, people are more vigilant, empathetic and aware more than ever and the central leadership is people centric”.

His fans started this movement and it will be successful as he was truly a pure soul and a true Mahadev Bhakt. He however, laughed and said this will be brushed under the carpet like all the previous cases. I wasn’t convinced – I hope that the CBI realises that the entire world is looking at India now and if this is not lead to logical conclusion then India as a country will become a laughing stock around the world.

It has brought to our attention that there are political negotiations happening in Maharashtra and Bihar. If this case is used as a political leverage and brushed under the carpet then mark the words of your true admirer and a Pravasi Bhartiya (who prays for your health) it will not be good for your political reign.

My family voted for you and we happily campaign for you outside of India, however, I wonder this is what you meant when you said “Acche din aane wale hain” Are these “good days”. Days where justice is compromised because of dirty politics, where the rich, famous, high and mighty never get touched/punished for their crimes and the middle class innocents get ‘maimed’ by the system?

When we see you as our Prime Minister, we feel proud to have a leader governing India who calls his country his family! Would you choose to remain quiet when a family member is brutally murdered? The whole world is looking at this and it is about India’s reputation. If murderers of a big celebrity can roam freely and not get punished, imagine what will happen to a normal Indian? If SSR does not get Justice then no body will ever get justice in India.

Finally, I would like to end my email by saying that you once said in your speech “Mere desh ki Matru Shakti hi mere liye Raksha kavach hain” This request comes from a female fan of Sushant Singh Rajput. I hope you realise the Durga shakti within me and millions of his female fans. I hope that you realise that Power of people is greater than people in power.

I have always admired you for being fearless and transparent, people of India chose you over the corrupt politicians who would never give second thought to even selling the country. Please do not prove us wrong – do not let us regret our decision.

Jai Bharat, Jai Hind!
May Maa Durga guide you every step of the way!
Yours Sincerely,
A concerned and informed Pravasi Bhartiya
