The jiva is the soul, the spark, the descent of Paramatma in all beings. Dharma is the instrument that makes you more aware of the jiva within yourself. It is the light that illuminates the path of realisation of the jiva, and further, this attainment in itself is light. So, light is not only knowledge but the path and means of achieving the ultimate knowledge. It is the elimination of the intellect plagued by non-progressive forces. It is the source of all universal energy. The Brihadaranyaka Upanishad contains a well-known verse that talks about “going from darkness to light” to attain immortal bliss. Yet, realising the light in what you believe is in your own hands. As the saying goes, ‘Atmadeepa Bhava‘, show yourself the path first, be your own light!
