Personal attack on anyone is not acceptable. There is absolutely no doubt about it. I will never support someone calling out Sonia Gandhi just because of her history. If you have a problem with her politics, do a political attack.
But the same people who are saying this call Arnab as BJP’s lapdog. Calls anyone who supports the BJP as Bhakt. Aren’t these personal comments? Where do people’s morality go then? You cannot have it both way. If you can’t stop making personal comments on people opposite to your ideology how do you expect others to do the same?
Coming to the Arnab’s incident, the reason for whatever happened is not because he spoke of her past. It is because he asked Sonia Gandhi to speak up on the Palghar incident. An incident where the police, which reports to an administration run by the Congress, Shiv Sena and NCP, handed over two Sadhus to the mob who then killed them. An incident, which the liberal left have tried hard to hide from the mainstream media and making sure that it doesn’t come into the class of communal lynching (because its communal only when a non-Hindu is lynched).
During all the other ‘communal’ lynchings that happened in the country, she was desperate to hear Modi/Shah speak. Arnab reminded her of this hypocrisy and asked her to speak up. That is what her sycophants couldn’t take.
Let’s go back in time. Remember Natwar Singh’s ‘One Life Is Not Enough’, where he claimed a newspaper refused to publish one of his articles article because the editor felt “Soniaji would get angry”. This is what it has always been. Sonia Gandhi has never like people asking her questions that would make her uncomfortable. Remember her 2016 interview with Rajdeep? Rajdeep is a journalist who has even managed to piss a former President. Even he couldn’t gather the courage to make her uncomfortable. Not a single questions about her politics. There was a time when she was at the control of things in this country and the media in Delhi, while addressing her, had to be very careful because if they somehow pissed her off, they would be beaten up by goons.
Another questions these days has been the attack on Arnab. Was Arnab really attacked or is he just pretending. Well, I do not have the answer to that. I have always believed that things like this is not up for trial on Social Media. It’s the job of the police to investigate and find out the truth. That doesn’t mean I do not believe Arnab. The benefit of doubt has to go to the person being attacked. You cannot say that the victims must be believed in some cases and the victim cannot be believed in others just because of an ideological difference. As I said, you cannot have it both ways. Why do I believe him apart from the fact that he is the victim? Because Sonia Gandhi and her goons have had an outstanding history. Remember how she became the Congress President? By locking the then president Sitaram Kesari in a toilet so that he doesn’t create obstacle in her crowning. That is how it has always been.
The problem for the Congress and Madam Sonia is that the country has changed now. It is no longer ready to accept her and her kind of politics. And she is not able to bear that. She cannot accept that the country is not a puppet for the family anymore. That is the reason that she has appointed a new advisory committee for Rahul Gandhi to come back as the Congress chief. She still has hopes of saving the power of her family. And that is where the Congress fails to recover.
She and her party have failed to understand that the decision of taking action on Arnab instead of coming out and answering his question on Palghar has further degraded the image of the party and given Arnab an audience that he didn’t have. This incident will do nothing but allow Arnab to up his game.
