The coward and dastardly attack in Pulwama on the Indian army killing more than forty soldiers including officers has riveted the nation with anger, disgust and delusion. Condolences poured in to the bereaved families. The cries of the aged parents, brothers, sisters, wives and children of the army personnel who died in the massacre are heartrending. The culprit, a youngster from Jaish-e- Mohammed, a terrorist outfit that claimed to have done the act, and its head Mazood Azhar who has been sharpening his knives against India for a long time is protected by Pakistan and China. Jaish-e- Mohammed is not only propped up but also fed and sponsored terror organisation of Pakistan to carry out these horrific activities in India. So, the public ire is towards that country rather the organisation per se.

The present NDA government at the Centre, has ensured safety and security of the people in the rest of the country quite satisfactorily. In the case of Jammu and Kashmir, all the governments that ruled at the Centre have their own share of misadventures, specially the Congress has a lion’s share. If we go back to history, it was in 1948-war with Pakistan, Gen KM Cariappa was about to capture the entire Kashmir to India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru stopped a day before at the nick of the time by ordering ceasefire and by referring it to the United Nations. Thus, the former prime minister, Nehru made J&K an International issue! That was the first blunder committed by the peacenik (Jawaharlal Nehru) for which we are paying the price now.

Next, during Bangladesh war in 1971, India fought against Pakistan for the freedom of East Bengal (Now Bangladesh). India won the war hands-down and Indira Gandhi was hailed by all Indians for the victory. However, she made a big goof up in Shimla agreement in 1972 by generously leaving all the thousands of prisoners of war (pow) i.e. Pakistan’s soldiers, without a precondition and also giving away the land (almost till Lahore) occupied by the Indian army magnanimously. She was the one who gave credence to Pak-occupied Kashmir with a Line of Control.

What did India achieve by fighting a war for Bangladesh? India gained nothing. In fact, that was the time Pakistan was very weak with the defeat. When the enemy is weak, one should grab the opportunity. Former prime minister, Indira Gandhi should have asked for a surrender of the Pak-occupied Kashmir then. She didn’t do it. For, she wanted to be a tall, statesman-like figure in the international community by being magnanimous to Pakistan. Similarly, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had had his desire to impress the world. He yearned to prove his peace credentials to world nations, so declared ceasefire while we were about to win the war.

Now, none of the world nations come to our rescue. In this technology driven fast pace world, the western nations, as is their wont, just condemned the Pulwama incident, for, it’s obviously a gruesome one. The developed nations of the West are more concerned about their western hemisphere. Their interest is Syria, Vennezula, Turkey etc. They’re not much into Indo-Pak problem. Once in a way, the USA advises to India and Pakistan to have talks or dialogue. When something goes astray in Kashmir, they yell at India on human rights violation etc.

Kargil war was stopped, when India was about to win, by the USA, for its own personal interest of having Pakistan army troops in Afghanistan to help them in the American war against Taliban and Russia. India is friendly with all world nations and is behaving responsibly. Pakistan, though a rogue nation, is escaping with impunity for all its misdeeds. It’s apparent, only those violators and perpetrators of terror are rewarded with monetary funds and other perks by the rich world.

The United Nations has not given a clear definition of who is a “terrorist” until now. It’s still ambivalent. In India Jaish-e- Mohammed is called a terrorist organisation. The attack in Pulwama is a terrorist attack. Whereas for Pakistan, it’s a freedom fight. And the suicide bombers are freedom fighters. If this be the theory floated, how can we convince the U.N? So, it’s time for the U.N. to define who are terrorists.

The USA, after 9/11 hunted and searched for Osama Bin Laden vigorously. With no evidence in its hand that he had masterminded the attack, on mere suspicion, by inferring based on the prevailing condition, it entered daringly into Pakistan with it’s own intelligence input and killed Bin-Laden. The US neither tried to convince the U.N nor world nations for its action. That was the rich well-developed countries gutsy- emboldened action! In India, though we know Mazood Azhar was the culprit of the 26/11 in 2008, now in Pulwama, our country is vacillating to take a tough action. Removal of most-favoured nation to Pakistan and calling ambassadors for a rebuke are not sufficient enough . More is needed to teach Pakistan a lesson that it can never forget.
