Father Mulayam Singh Yadav and son Akhilesh Yadav are fighting over who gets to keep the bicycle i.e. the official election symbol of the Samajwadi Party. Both the factions are laying claim over the symbol even though there has not been a formal split in the party.

Akhilesh Yadav is being projected as someone who has the popular support among the masses. Earlier one person tried to immolate himself when this family feud in the Yadav family came out in open.

Now two siblings have written a letter to the Election Commission of India saying that the bicycle symbol should be given to Akhilesh Yadav. These are Sana and her brother Azeem. Sana studies at an inter-college while Azeem is a student at local Madarsa.

The father of both the siblings didn’t allow them to post the letter to the election commission, but says that the brother and sister are big fans of Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav, and that both of them keep praying that they win elections.

The father further said that both of them are in deep shock after the Mulayam and Akhilesh fought, but decided to support Akhilesh over who should get the bicycle symbol. As a result, they wrote a letter by taking out blood from their bodies using a syringe.

Both of them have also threatened to commit suicide if the bicycle symbol was not allotted to Akhilesh.

It is up to the readers to understand if this is genuine love and support for a politician from school going children or if it’s a publicity stunt to show that Akhilesh has popular support, especially in a particular community.
